Did you ever tell the story of why ******* kicked you out because she forgot to pick you up from work on here? I remember it happening in real time and it was not funny but in retrospect, it's 200 upvotes on reddit material lol
LMAO its so funny you censored her name. like shes gonna be here or something. cant let her know i still think shes a bitch!!!!!
anyway heres fun little anecdote about that time i was forced to move out, in the style of an aita post, fake names and all
AITA for being mad at my roommate for not driving my somewhere?
I (22nb) live with two roommates, Makenzie (22f) and Justin (19 trans m). We all met because we worked at the same place, and we've been living together for almost a year. Of the three of us, I'm the only one who has lived with roommates before, but I can't tell if I'm being TA here?
Makenzie is the only one of us who can drive, and she agreed when we moved in together that, if we gave her some money to buy her mom's car, then she would drive us places whenever she was able. I work a little over a mile away from our apartment, so I CAN walk, but since I get off work at around 9pm, and the sidewalks aren't really well-maintained (it's a really industrial part of town, so it's not GREAT for walking), she agreed that she would pick me up after work every day.
Last week, I got off work, and waited for her to show up, and she never came. I texted her a few times, and when she didn't respond after I'd been waiting for almost an hour, I texted that I would be walking home. Apparently, she'd fallen asleep, and midway through my walk home, she woke up, got in her car, and tried to come find me to drive me home. She couldn't find me (the sidewalk is really hard to see from the road, and it's extremely dark, so I'm not surprised), and then frantically tried to get a hold of me to make sure I wasn't dead. I didn't see her texts because I was 1. walking and 2. on the phone with my partner. When I got home, she was pissed that I made her worry. She thinks I did it on purpose to get revenge? I told her I was just busy, and she seemed to accept that, but today she and our other roommate sat me down and told me that I needed to find a new place to live, because "this wasn't working out."
According to her, I'm not entitled to a ride anywhere, so I had no right to be mad at her for not giving me a ride, and I certainly didn't have a right to make her think I was dead (I literally told her I was walking home??). She also brought up that I never do my chores on the chore wheel (she made the chore wheel without asking. She just announced that she'd made a chore wheel and I had to clean the living room, which I'm almost never in anyway) and that I owe her $200 (from when we adopted our cat, which I think is weird to bring up when you're trying to kick me out?? it's not like I'm gonna get to keep the cat). She's saying I'm entitled and inconsiderate, but I feel like she's punishing me for the fact that she flaked. AITA?
Edit: If it helps, she's flaked on rides before. A few months ago, she agreed to take me to the doctor, and then the day before my appointment, she told me she couldn't give me a ride. The reason she flaked was because she wanted to go to the weed dispensary instead :/ she said it was fine, because "your mom will just get you an uber anyway". My mom agreed to pay all my necessary expenses while I'm in school (I'm a full time student; she pays my rent and I use the money from my part time job to pay for my food) but she's not like. Rich. I don't feel good about just spending her money on stuff I don't have to.
UPDATE: Makenzie made a post on Facebook about how "it's so sad when someone would rather lose a friendship than admit they were wrong." I shouldn't have commented, but I did, asking her if she forgot we were facebook friends, and then I blocked her. In retrospect, I should have just blocked her without commenting, but I'm only human.
UPDATE 2: Well, I'm moving out. Justin started harassing me, accusing me of stealing his shampoo and letting the cat loose on purpose, neither of which I did. I have my own nicer shampoo, and I love cats (I just was asleep when he told me the cat was missing, because it was midnight and I wake up at 6 am to go to school. I guess the fact that I didn't immediately leap to my feet to find our cat means I wanted him dead???) Makenzie is refusing to give back my deposit, because she says she needs to have the carpets in my room professionally cleaned before a new roommate can move in. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. But I guess I'm willing to pay a couple hundred dollars to not deal with this anymore. Still, sucks. :/

"Felix, I'm not going to kiss Chan"
"Everyone, pay attention here, please," your teacher said. Slowly, everyone stopped with the side talk and paid attention to her. "For your last project of the semester, I decided that we are going to learn about different cultures." She got up from her table and went in the direction of the board. "Remember when I asked you guys to send me the names of your groups? Basically, I'm going to draw random countries for each group. I want you guys to do a study aboout the differences of said countries, based on a theme that you are going to choose.”
She started writing on the board.
“The theme must be something creative. If it is not creative, your project is going to lose points, okay?" she said enthusiastically.
She started to draw the countries for each group. Your group was formed by basically you and Felix. Felix became your friend after the first day of class but you felt like he was your friend since forever. "I want this project by the end of the month, so..." she looked at the little calendar on her table. "You guys have three weeks. Any doubts?" Some people raised their hands but you weren't paying attention anymore, you were writing down the countries that you had to work with: Australia, Germany, Spain and, Korea. You had no idea what to do for your project. Your teacher was very clear: it had to be creative. Creativity wasn't your thing. "Okay, guys, class dismissed," your teacher announced. Everyone started to get up and leave but you sat there, trying really hard to think on a theme. "Hey, we have to go," Felix said. "What are we going to do?" "We have plenty of time to think about it, Y/N." Felix grabbed your backpack and started to put your stuff inside of it. "Three weeks is not plenty of time, Felix." "Okay, what's your idea, then?" "I don't know, that's why I'm asking you, dumbass." Felix rolled his eyes and grabbed your hand, dragging you out of the classroom. "How about we do a project about the foods of each country?" "Hm, that's interesting." You took your backpack from his hands to grab a little notebook to write down the ideas. "But I don't think is creative enough." Felix sat at the bench at the corner of the hall. "What if we did the differences in the skin texture of each country?" Felix looked at you and saw the pout on your face. "Too much?" You simply nodded. You sat down next to him, already tired from all the thinking. "You know what would be funny?" you grinned. "What?" "If we made a project about the way that people from each country kiss and the differences from each one." "Y/N, that's it!" Felix got up, excited. "Felix, I was joking." "No, this is a great idea. It's creative! There are students from different countries in our college, so we can totally do it!" "As far as I know, there's only one german student here. Are you going to kiss him?" You stood in front of him, arms crossed. "You are going to kiss him." Felix looked at you like what he was saying was obvious. "Felix!" "Look, we have four countries. I can kiss two people and you kiss two people. It's not going to be hard." "You know what? I'm going home. I'm going to think about a better theme." "You know you can't," Felix shouted while you left. Felix was right, this idea was the best one. It was creative and bold, but kissing random people was the hard part. Not that you didn't like to kiss, but you were used to kissing people at parties, people that you would kiss while you were drunk and you knew that you would never see them again. Not people from your college where you would have to see them every day. "Hi, Jisung," you said while you opened the door of your apartment. Your roommate was laying down on the couch, playing video games. "Hey," he greeted you. You lifted his legs so you could sit on the couch, putting his legs on your lap. "Are you okay?" he asked, noticing your expression. "Ugh, I have this stupid project to make," you whined, throwing your head back and closing your eyes, letting the frustration take over your body. "Do you wanna talk about it?" "No." Your phone rang, you grabbed it only to see that it was Felix calling you. "Hey, Felix." "What's up Feliiix," Jisung screamed. "Hi Jisung,” he yelled, making you pull the phone away from your ear. “Y/N, can you come to my apartment today?" "Nope. No, I can't." "Why? Do you have something to do?" Felix asked. "I don't want to. You know why." "Y/N, you have to get over the crush you have on Chan one day." "I don't have a crush on him, Felix. He just makes me...uncomfortable. Not in a bad way, in a weird way. I don't know how to explain." "Y/N, he's not even here now. Besides, we have to work on the details for our project," Felix insisted. "Why don't you come to my apartment?" "Because every time I go there we can never get anything done because of Jisung. Please? Please, Y/N." "Fine," you sighed. "I'll be there in twenty minutes." "Are you going to get pretty for Channie?" Felix teased. "Shut the fuck up." You turned off your phone and went to your room. The truth is: you did have a crush on Chan. Chan was handsome, funny, he had a great body and a great personality. He was also a fuckboy. You can't remember the number of times that you saw him with different girls in their apartment, one prettier than the other. Eventually, you stopped going to their apartment because you never knew how to behave like a normal human being around him and, seeing him with pretty girls wasn't helping. You took a quick shower and dressed in simple clothes, you didn't want Felix teasing you. While walking through the campus in the direction of their apartment, you kept trying to calm yourself. It has been a while since you saw Chan, so you were excited, even though you were trying to convince yourself that you weren't. Felix said that he wasn't home, so there was no reason for you to be nervous. You stopped in front of their door and took a deep breath. You knocked and it took a moment before Felix answered. "Hey, Y/N," Felix screamed, giving you a hug. "Don't act like we didn't see each other a few hours ago." You entered their apartment. The structure was the same for all the apartments on the campus, but each one had its own piece of decoration. Surprisingly enough, Felix and Chan's apartment had a great decoration and was super clean. "So... let's go to your room." "Are you sure that you don't want to work in the living room?" Felix asked. "I'm sure," you said, already going in the direction of his room. Felix laughed. He knew you were trying to avoid Chan. You sat on Felix's bed with your notebook in your hands, ready to take notes. "Look," Felix said, sitting in front of you. "I know that you don't want to use kissing as a theme, but..." Felix raised his hand when he saw your expression, trying to explain himself. "It is the perfect theme, Y/N. We are not going to find something as creative and daring as this. And this is important for our grades, we are not doing very well on this subject, remember?" Felix tilted his head. You know he was right. "Fine, you are not going to leave me alone, are you?" "Nope." Felix got up from the bed and grabbed his notebook on his table, to show you some annotations. "So, we have to find people from Australia, Germany, Spain, and Korea. We already know the german student, don't worry, I'll talk to him so you can kiss him." Felix wrote down something in his notebook and continued. "There's a spanish girl in Chan's class, I'm gonna ask him to help me out." The simple mention of Chan's name made you feel butterflies in your stomach. "For korean, I thought about the possibility of..." Felix hesitated and looked at you. "No." "Come on, Y/N." "I am not going to kiss Jisung, Felix." "Fine, I'll look for a korean girl somewhere." "There's probably someone in our college." "The problem is someone australian. Don't get me wrong, I love you and you are gorgeous. But I'm not going to kiss you." "I don't want to kiss you either, Felix." "Felix." You heard Chan calling, startling you. "I'm in my room," Felix yelled. Chan opened the door of Felix's room. You looked at your notebook to pretend that you were occupied. Chan and Felix talked about ordering food for dinner or something. "Y/N," Chan said when he noticed you, making you instantly look in his direction. "Long time no see." He had a stupid cocky smile on his face. His sweet voice made you swallow hard. "H-hi, Chan." Of course, you had to stutter. "You can stay for dinner if you want," Chan offered before leaving the room. "So cute," Felix whispered, looking at your red face. "I have to go," you said, gathering your stuff. "But Chan invited you for dinner, Y/N," Felix teased you. "Bye, Felix." "Okay, let me walk you to the door." Luckily, Chan was occupied in the kitchen so he didn't see you leave. "Text me once you get there, okay?" Felix said. "Okay, bye." You kept thinking about the little interaction with Chan on your way home. He dyed his hair since the last time you saw him. Instead of blonde, it was now black. Both colors suited him so much. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and some jeans, the most basic clothes ever and he looked breathtaking. You hated how you were head over heels for him, you felt like a teenager. It was so silly. Days went by and you had a lot of work from college. Felix already worked on his part and managed to kiss the spanish girl from Chan’s class. Something made you feel like kissing wasn't the only thing he did, but you didn't want to know the details. Some students were planning a party and Chan invited Felix, who invited you. "I don't know, I have so much to do," you whined. "Can I go?" Jisung asked, stuffing some food in his mouth. "Of course," Felix said. "Y/N, that's exactly why you should go." He said that while holding some of the papers that were on the couch while you worked on your homework. "You need to ease your mind from all the stress from school." "He's right," Jisung agreed. "She's so grumpy lately because of college." "Shut up, Jisung,” you whined. "Okay, fine. But only if you help finish this," you told Felix. "Fine." The party was on a tuesday night, Felix would go with Chan so you asked Jisung to take you. "Looking good," Jisung stated, eyeing you up and down as he entered your room. You were putting your earrings on. You decided that since you would have all the work to go to a party, you had to a least look good. So you were wearing a leather skirt with a white long-sleeved blouse that showed some cleavage. "Thanks, Jisung. Are you ready?" "Yeah. Let's go." The party wasn't far away from your dorm so you were able to go walking. It was 9 pm, so leaving Jisung with you made you feel safer. Jisung was the type of person who was outgoing, he talked a lot and made you laugh all the time. Along the way, he talked about college and his classes. He studied music production and he seemed really passionate about it. You thought it was cute how his eyes glowed while he talked about his classes. It was funny because Chan also studied music production, but he was from a different classroom. Some minutes later, you were at the place of the party. You had no idea whose house was that, but you completely forgot about it once you were inside. The first thing you saw was Chan, but he was too occupied to see you. He was kissing a girl. She was gorgeous, with long blonde hair, and a tight red dress that accentuated her curves. You were sure that Chan enjoyed that dress by the way his hands ran over her body, stopping at her ass to grab it. "I'm gonna look for Felix," you whispered to Jisung. You found Felix standing next to a table where people were playing beer pong. "Y/N," he yelled when he saw you. He ran in your direction, giving you a tight hug that made you realize that he was probably, already, a little drunk. "Hi," you said with a sad voice. "What's wrong?" "Nothing. It's not important." "If it's not important, why are you making that face?" He held your face with his hands, looking right into your eyes. "Felix, I don't wanna talk about it, not now." You looked in the direction of the table. "Can I play?" "Sure," Felix shrugged. You played beer pong with Felix and some unknown people and eventually, you started to feel dizzy. "I'm going to use the bathroom," you said, stumbling on some drunk people while you tried to leave. You went to the second floor, looking from door to door when you finally saw the bathroom one. However, when you got closer, you realized that there was someone inside of it. And they weren't alone. You could hear the sound of skin slapping against skin and muffled moans. You widened your eyes, feeling embarrassed by witnessing people having sex. When you turned around to leave, you heard the girl moaning "fuck Chan, harder." You could hear Chan groaning while he fucked her.
You swallowed hard and left. There was another bathroom on the first floor which you found eventually. Once you were inside, you sat on the toilet and cried. You had this stupid crush on Chan for so long and look at you. Crying in the bathroom while he fucked a girl in another bathroom. You stayed there for a while, feeling sorry for yourself until you got fed up. It was time to get over him. You cleaned your tears and got up to go back to the party. You looked around for Felix but couldn't find him anywhere. "Y/N," you looked in the direction of the person calling you and saw Jisung enthusiastically waving at you. He was standing in the middle of the living room where people were dancing. "Hey," you half yelled since the song was loud. "Are enjoying the party?" "Not really." You really wanted to leave, you didn't feel like staying at that party, and you especially didn't feel like dancing. That's when you looked around and saw Chan at the corner of the living room, talking to Felix. You saw that he had his eyes on you. Like he would always do, looking at you like he was checking you out but without it being obvious. You clenched your fists, you were tired of Chan teasing you. You had an idea and you didn't even stop to think about it. You grabbed Jisung's face and kissed him. It was a weird kiss at first, the smell of alcohol exhaling in the air. Jisung's lips were soft but eager, he held onto your waist, getting your body closer to his. He wasted no time before shoving his tongue inside of your mouth, taking you by surprise. You kissed him for a while but you stopped the moment you felt him rubbing his boner on you. You lightly pushed him by his shoulders.
"I have to go," you said, leaving the room. Jisung stayed there, looking at you, without knowing how to react. You decided that you had to leave. You were confused, upset, angry and a little horny, thanks to Jisung. You started to walk in the direction of the gates of the house when you heard somebody calling your name. "Y/N, wait!" You sighed and turned around. The last thing you needed was to talk to Chan. "What do you want?" you roared. "Are you leaving?" "Yes. I'm going home." He looked like he was angry at something, but you simply shrugged. "Let me take you home. It's way too late for you to be walking alone," he said in a serious tone. "I don't need your help, Chan." You turned around to leave when he grabbed your arm. "This was not a suggestion. I'm taking you home," he growled. You pulled your arm from his hands but didn't fight. Chan walked with you to your apartment quietly. Not a word was said until he stopped in front of your dorm. "Thanks," you said, looking at the floor. "So, Jisung, huh?. I didn't expect that." "I'm sorry?" You raised your head, looking at him. "How long have you been dating him?" he asked. He really looked like something was bothering him, clenching his jaw and crossing his arms. You felt like he was fighting with you for doing something wrong. "T-that's none of your business. Goodnight, Chan," you remarked. You went in the direction of your door and stopped. You were so angry at him, you couldn't stop the words from coming out of your mouth. "Where's the girl you were fucking in the bathroom? You should be worried about her." Chan widened his eyes and smiled. You wanted to punch that stupid smile out of his face. "Are you jealous?" he asked, raising his eyebrow. "Fuck off." You unlocked the door and went inside. You lay down on your bed and closed your eyes. It didn't take long for you to sleep since you were exhausted. You couldn't say that you had a good night of sleep though, you woke up with a hangover and headache. Still, you had class first thing in the morning so you had to go. You took a shower and got dressed up when you remembered what happened to Jisung. You were not ready to face the consequences of your actions, so you tried to leave without seeing him. You were sitting in your class, trying to pay attention when Felix arrived. "Hey," he said, sitting by your side. "Hey," you whined. "I have good news. There was a german girl at the party last night, so I did your job for you." "Yay," you said without any enthusiasm. "Aaand, since you kissed Jisung, you have the korean part. There's only Australia missing." "Haven't you kissed any girls when you lived in Australia?" you interrogated him. "I did, but I'm australian. I think it would be better from the perspective of someone who isn't, you know?" You sighed. When you started to pack your stuff to leave after the class was over, you groaned. "What is it, Y/N?" Felix asked. "I have to go home." "And?" "I kissed Jisung, Felix." "Was it that bad?" Felix tilted his head, not understanding your point. "That's not the point. He's my roommate and my friend, that's weird." "Well, unless you are planning to move somewhere else, you'll have to talk to him." You groaned again, throwing your head back. You went home thinking about what exactly you would tell Jisung. You always thought that Jisung was an attractive guy and you would be lying if you said you never took a look at his body when he would walk around shirtless. There was even that one time where he brought a girl home, they tried to stay quiet but you could hear them fucking. That turned you on so much that you had to touch yourself. Still, Jisung was your friend and kissing your friends was not something that you usually did. When you got home, you looked around for Jisung. You heard some noises in his room. You knocked at the door and he stayed silent for a while. "Come in," he said. "Hey," you purred when you opened the door. "I think I need to talk." "Yeah, I think we should." "Sorry for kissing you last night, that was a stupid thing to do," you stumbled on your words, barely giving yourself time to breathe. "Y/N," Jisung raised his hand. "It's okay. You are a good kisser." "Thanks. I guess."
"I have to admit that I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was thinking..." Jisung hesitated for a moment, thinking deeply about what he was going to say.
"Why don't we do it again?" he suggested.
You bit your lips. You had to admit that that's not what you were expecting from him.
You sat at the edge of his bed, getting closer to him.
"Jisung, I... I kissed you because I wanted Chan to notice me, maybe get him jealous." Saying it out loud made you realize how childish and silly that was, you couldn't help but to feel embarrassed.
"Y/N, I don't care. It's not like I'm asking you to marry me," he laughed.
Jisung sat by your side.
"What do you think about being friends with benefits?"
He watched your reaction. You had a confused expression on your face, trying to understand his words.
"When was the last time that you had sex?" he asked.
"I don't know. Eight months ago?"
"See? It's been a while for me, too. Besides, you can even use me to make Chan jealous, if you want."
"Are you listening to yourself, Jisung?"
"Yes. We can still be friends, no feelings involved. Think about it."
Jisung got up from the bed and walked in the direction of the door.
"Ji-jisung."
He turned around to look at you. "Yes?"
"I want it."

Felix, 5:35 pm: Did you write your dissertation about the korean part?
Y/N, 5:38 pm: I did
Y/N, 5:38 pm: Even though I don't think it's really useful since I was drunk
Felix, 5:40 pm: You should kiss Jisung again then, lol
Y/N, 5:41 pm: Maybe I will ;)
Felix, 5:42 pm: Y/N??? You nasty little b
Felix, 5:43 pm: Send it to me, please.
Y/N, 5:45 pm: Okay.
Y/N, 5:45 pm: Hey, are going to do something tomorrow?
Felix, 5:48 pm: No, why?
Y/N, 5:49 pm: Let's go to the movies. There's that horror movie that we wanted to watch in the theaters.
Felix, 5:51 pm: Sure!
Y/N, 5:52 pm: Can I bring Jisung?
Felix, 5:52 pm: Yes
Felix, 5:54 pm: But don't you dare to make me feel like the third wheel.
Jisung didn't even know that you had plans with him that afternoon. But you wanted to spend time with him, to ensure the "friends" part of your negotiation. After accepting to be friends with benefits, he didn't talk about it anymore. You thought that he would kiss you again or something, but no, he went to the kitchen to make some mac and cheese for dinner and then went to sleep.
"Jisung," you said, knocking on his door. You know that if he was silent he was probably taking a nap.
"What?" he asked, in an annoyed voice.
"Can I come in?"
"Ugh, no, I'm sleeping."
You entered the room anyway. You swallowed hard when you saw that he was laying on his stomach, shirtless. His back was exposed for you to see. It was not the first time that you saw him like that, but it was the first time since you kissed him.
"Get up, we are going to the theater."
"We?" he asked, looking at you.
"Yes, you, me and, Felix."
"Aww," he whined. "I thought it would be a cute date."
Jisung winked at you with a cocky smile on his face.
"Shut up. You have ten minutes to get dressed."
You agreed with Felix to meet him at the movie theater, so you left with Jisung on an Uber.
When you arrived at the movie theater, you could see Felix at the line to buy the tickets, but he wasn't alone.
"Felix?" you asked when you got closer to him.
"Hey!" he said. "I hope you don't mind Chan coming with us. He insisted that he wanted to come. Like really."
"Hi, Y/N," Chan purred, smiling at you. He then looked a Jisung.
"Jisung," he said in a low voice. His face looked serious, it didn't look like he was happy to see Jisung there.
Chan looked back at you. “I hope you don’t mind if Felix and I accompany your date with your little friend with benefits.”
You didn’t have time for a reaction since Felix pulled you to buy your tickets and some popcorn and headed to the movie. The mood was heavy, Jisung walked around with his arm around your neck all the time and you saw Chan looking at you with an upset expression. Was he jealous? You didn't know.
You sat by Jisung's side on the theater and Felix sat by your side, but after talking about something with Chan, they switched places.
Chan's leg touched yours and you felt your heart dancing in your chest. Why couldn't you get over him? You held Jisung's hand, trying to distract yourself. You were not giving Chan what he wanted.
With the corner of your eye, you would see Chan watching you sometimes. But you avoided looking back at him at any cost.
Jisung would whisper some things in your ear during the movie, making you giggle.
Suddenly, you felt Chan moving next to you. He stretched out for a moment, but he left his arm on your chair, next to your shoulders. You swallowed hard and rolled your eyes. Would you be lying if you said you didn't like the sudden attention you were getting from Chan? Yes, you would. But you felt confused and angry. Chan was acting jealous out of nowhere, to the point where you started to feel guilty, while you had to deal with the countless times where you saw him with other girls. Still, you never acted like a jealous teenager around him, so yeah, you were not giving in. The movie ended and all you wanted to do was to leave the theater. Jisung was by your side all the time, walking with you in front of Chan and Felix. "Let's go home, darling," Jisung purred, after giving you a peck on the cheeks. You could tell that he was loving to tease Chan. You said goodbye to Felix, and, reluctantly, to Chan and left with Jisung. When you got home you sat on the couch, still thinking about everything that was happening. Jisung sat by your side, almost sitting on your lap. "Ouch," you whined. "Sorry. What is up with Chan? He looked really angry at me today." "I don't know and I don't care," you shrugged. "Come on, Y/N. I think he has a crush on you and got all mad now that you have a man." "Oh, I have a man?" you looked at Jisung with an amused expression. "Well, we are friends with benefits, remember?" Jisung laid his head on your shoulder while his hand grabbed your thigh. "I almost forgot since you didn't say anything about it anymore." Jisung's thumb drew patterns on your skin while he talked. "Well, I wanted to give you space, you know? To get used to it." "Awn, you are so sweet." "I am, baby." You looked at Jisung, who was also looking at you. Slowly, you got closer to him until your lips touched. Now that you were sober, it wasn't so weird to kiss him. He was very eager, but not in a bad way. He played with your tongue while he guided the kiss, holding your head with his hand. Suddenly, he grabbed your waist, making you sit on his lap. He kept on kissing you, running his hands through your body. You started to grind on his boner, just to tease him a little. Jisung held hard on your waist, pulling you closer to him, so you would grind harder on him. You couldn't hold the little whine that left your lips when you felt his hard dick against your clit. "Take this off," he whispered, helping you to take off your t-shirt. He didn't waste time, grabbing your boobs and pulling your bra down. he licked one of your nipples while he played with the other.  You moaned loud, rocking your hips on his cock. Jisung started to kiss your neck, working to take his belt off. He opened his pants and freed his dick. "Are you on the pill?" he asked. "Yes." Your skirt was already raised, exposing your wet panties. He pulled your panties to the side and held your waist, helping you out so you could slide on his dick. You whined when you felt him stretching you out. You started to ride his dick at a fast pace, not giving your pussy time to adjust. "Fuck, Y/N," Jisung moaned. "I'm not gonna last long if you keep it like that." "Play with my clit, I'm close," you whined. He rubbed his thumb against your clit while you sat on his dick. After a little while, you came, kissing him on the lips. Quickly, you got off his lap and got on your knees. You grabbed his dick and started pumping and sucking it. Jisung came, moaning loud, filling your mouth up with his hot cum. You swallowed it and looked at him with an innocent face. "That's fucking hot," he whined. "Y/N, we need to finish our project," Felix said. You were sitting in the cafeteria. You had only one week before you had to deliver the project and Felix was starting to panic. "I know, I'm still looking for a guy who is from Australia that's not you." "You know a guy that's Australian and it's not me." "Felix, I'm not going to kiss Chan," you grumped. "Why not?" You turned around to see Chan standing behind you, with that cocky smile that he always had on his face. He sat on the table by your side. "Felix told me about your project. Why are not going to kiss me? Is your little boyfriend going to stay mad?" he teased. "You know that Jisung it's not my boyfrie-," you stopped once you noticed that you were explaining yourself. You cleaned your throat. "I don't owe you any explanation, Chan. And Felix, you really need to stop exposing my life to him."
Felix frowned.
"Come on, Y/N. You would rather fail than to kiss me?" he asked, tilting his head and looking at you, using a soft voice. You hated how he made you feel butterflies in your stomach by the way he looked at you. You hated how he looked so good with that stupid sweatshirt and his messy hair, making you think that he was probably late for college today. Probably because he was fucking some hot girl the night before. "I'm n-not gonna fail. I'll kiss Felix if I have to." You got up and left, going home. Felix called your name but you kept walking. In your college, there were a lot of foreign students, but not many australians, from what you knew. You knew that were no way that Felix would kiss you, so you had to do something. You were looking on Tinder, trying to find what you needed when Felix messaged you asking for you to go to his house. He said that you needed to at least finish to write the project, even if Australia was missing. You went to his apartment, ready to be angry at Chan, but you soon learned that he wasn't there. You and Felix did what you had to do and by the end of it, you were both mentally exhausted. "How come just writing something can be so tiring?" Felix asked, throwing himself on the couch. "Probably because we are both very stupid," you stated. "That must be it. I'm kind of hungry but we don't have anything to eat. I think I’m going to the supermarket to buy us something, okay?" "Okay. I'm gonna review our work while you are there." You were sitting there, doing your job for about ten minutes when you heard the door opening. "Already?" you asked. "Y/N?" "Oh, Chan. I thought it was Felix." you sighed. "Sorry to disappoint." Chan went to his room and stayed there for a while. You found it strange that he didn't come to tease you. "Y/N, can you come to my room for a moment?" "I'm busy." You felt your palms sweating. Was he really inviting you to stay alone, in his room, with him? "Please? It's going to be really quick, I need to show you something."
You wanted to say no, you really did. But you went to his room anyway. Chan closed the door when you were inside and told you to sit on the chair next to the table. He had his notebook turned on. "Put this on," he said, handing you his earphones. Chan played a song. It had a smooth melody, with soft lyrics. The person singing had a sweet voice. The lyrics talked about feelings and liking someone. It was short, about a minute and a half. "Do you like it?" Chan asked, with expectation shining on his eyes. "Yes, it's beautiful." He leaned on the edge of the table next to you. "Well, I wrote it and produced it. I also recorded it," he said with a smile on his face, but this time it wasn't a cocky one, he looked satisfied. "Oh, are you the one singing?" "Yes." "I didn't know you could sing." Chan played with his fingers and looked down. You have never seen him like that before. He looked hesitant, almost nervous. "Y/N, I-" "Hello?" Felix opened Chan's door. "Y/N, I was looking for you. We need to finish our project." Chan didn't say anything, he just left the room. "I hope I'm not interrupting something," Felix added. You shrugged and went to the living room with him. You finished all you needed about your project and went home. You looked for Jisung, until you found him in his room. "Can I come in?" you timidly asked when you opened the door. "Of course." You ran to his bed, getting under the covers with him. He was sitting down with his back against the headboard, he looked like he was studying. "I don't want to bother you, Jisung." "That's fine. What's up?" he directed his attention to you. "I'm so confused." "About what?" "About Chan." Jisung laughed. "Tell me about it." "Today he showed a song that he wrote. It was about love and stuff. And he has been acting all jealous. I don't know how to feel about it." "You really like him, don't you?" You sighed. "Jisung, I don't think we should be friends with benefits anymore." "It's okay, Y/N. Can we still be friends?" "Of course!" you hugged him, resting your head against his chest. "I'm gonna miss the sex though," he teased. "Jisung!" "Just kidding, baby." Y/N, 9:45 pm: Felix Y/N, 9:45 pm: We have one day before our project is due Y/N, 9:45 pm: I'm gonna ask you something Felix, 9:58 pm: Y/N I DON'T WANT TO KISS YOU Y/N, 9:59 pm: It's not that, dumbass Y/N, 9:59 pm: I need you to ask Chan if he will kiss me Y/N, 10:00 pm: But I want to make it clear that this is strictly professional Felix, 10:02 pm: Okay, I'm gonna talk to him You had no other choice anymore. You couldn't afford to have a bad grade so yeah, you were going to kiss Bang Chan. Felix said that you would have to go to their apartment. You already started to feel nervous. When you arrived, Chan opened the door for you. "Where's Felix?"" you asked. You were holding tight on the sleeve of your blouse. You walked past Chan while you entered their apartment and you felt your legs going weak when you smelled his cologne. He smelled so good. "He said that he wanted to give us privacy," he answered. You frowned, that was typical of him. "Look, I'm only doing this because I need to, okay? We don't have much time anymore and we really need to finish this project." Chan got closer to you, looking into your eyes. You wanted to run away. "Okay," he said. You stayed there looking for each other. You didn't know what to do. "A-are you going to kiss me?" you asked. Chan smirked. "I'm sorry, I'm a little nervous," he admitted. "You? Nervous?" "Yeah." "Chan, please. I've seen you kissing a bunch of girls a lot of times and you've never looked like you were nervous." "Yeah, but they were not you." Chan's words danced in your ears. "That's not funny." "What?" he asked. "It's not fun to play with someone's feeling like that." "I'm not playing with your feelings, Y/N. I'm serious." Chan touched your chin, making you feel shivers down your spine. One little touch and he had you on the palm of his hand. "I've known for a long time that you had a crush on me." You felt your cheeks burning. "I've always thought that you were amazing. Gorgeous, funny, smart. I just thought I wasn't good enough for you. But when I saw you kissing Jisung... I don't know. I felt so bad. I think I was used to having you around." Chan's hand that was on your chin ran to your cheek, holding the side of your face. "C-chan," you whispered. Chan shortened the distance between your bodies and kissed you. By the moment where his lips touched yours, you knew for sure that you would get addicted to it. His plump lips were soft and warm, welcoming yours like a tight hug. His other hand grabbed your waist, getting you closer to him. It was so soft and sweet, not something that you would expect from him. You held onto his neck, touching him to make sure you weren't dreaming. You wanted more. You slid your tongue in his mouth, deepening the kiss. Your hand ran through his chest until it reached the end of his shirt. You put your hand under his shirt, feeling his abs. "Y/N," Chan said. "Please," you whispered against his lips. You weren't thinking straight anymore. Chan's lips started to go down until they reached your neck. He sucked on it, making you whimper. "Are you sure about it? We don't have to do anything if you don't want to," he asked, looking right into your eyes. "I want to." Chan held your hand and took you to his room. He told you to lay on his bed. You never thought that this would happen one day. He laid down next to you, facing you. "We don't have to do anything, Y/N." He smiled, the stupid dimples making his face look cuter than ever. "We can just talk, maybe kiss and-" "Chan. I want you to fuck me." You were begging. You were begging for that cock like a little bitch and you were not embarrassed. Chan widened his eyes and swallowed hard. "Okay, okay," he giggled. He got on his knees and took his shirt off. You have never seen him shirtless and you were pretty much pleased by what you saw. You wanted to kiss every inch of his pale skin. Chan got on top of you. He kissed you, exploring your lips. You were wearing a dress that was quickly on the floor of his room. "Fuck," Chan groaned when he saw you only in lingerie. You saw the boner on his pants and licked your lips. You pushed him on the bed and got on top of him. You helped him so he could take off his pants and underwear. His dick was marvelous. Above average, thick, pink tip and veiny. You didn't waste time, you grabbed it and started to lick the head. Chan moaned, closing his eyes. You twirled your tongue around it while you pumped it with your hand. You sucked hard on the tip and Chan moaned again. You tried to go down on it as much as could, which wasn't much since deepthroating wasn't your specialty, but you guessed that Chan was enjoying it by the sounds he was making. Chan grabbed your head and stopped you. "Lay down, baby girl," he demanded. He opened the drawer of the nightstand next to his bed and grabbed a condom but he didn't put it on yet. Instead, he took off your lingerie and got between your legs. He slowly kissed your belly, going down your body. He bit the inside of your thighs, leaving marks behind. He finally went where you wanted him to. He licked your pussy lips, making you whine. He teased you, going from penetrating you with his tongue to licking your clit. You were moaning and whimpering, feeling your orgasm approaching. "Chan, please," you moaned. He started to finger you while he licked your clit. It was too much for you and you came on his mouth. Chan kept licking you until you couldn't take it anymore because of the overstimulation. He took the condom, slid it on his dick and, pumped it a few times. He kissed you, making you taste your own juices. He finally started to slide himself into you, slowly. You whined, feeling him stretching your pussy. "Fuck, baby. So fucking good," he whimpered. When he was fully inside, he gave you a deep kiss. He kissed you for a while, giving you time to get used to him inside of you. "C-chan," you moaned. He started to move, pounding into you at a slow and deep pace. You could feel every inch of him inside of you and you loved it. Chan's moaning was driving you crazy. "So good, baby," he said in your ear. His low voice went straight to your folds, getting you wetter. He kept it slow and intimate, rubbing his pelvis against your clit. "Chan, I'm g-gonna cum." "Cum for me, baby girl." You came again, feeling your legs shaking. Chan kept fucking you until he felt his high approaching. "Ah, fuck, baby," he whined when he came, thrusting deep inside of you. Chan lay down by your side. He took the condom off and threw it in the trash bin next to his bed.
He hugged you, making you lay on his chest. You stayed quiet, listening to his heartbeat, no words were needed. Chan played with your hair, his warm arms making you feel safe. Suddenly, your stomach growled. "Somebody's hungry," Chan teased. He started to move so he could get up. "No!" you whined. "I'm gonna get something for you to eat, baby," he giggled. You let go of him and Chan got up from the bed. He put on his underwear and went to the kitchen. You decided to put your clothes on. Some minutes later Chan came back. He widened his eyes when he saw you with your dress back on. "Are you leaving?" he asked, worried. "No, I just wanted to put it back on. Unless you want me to leave." "Of course not!" Chan sat by your side on the bed, he brought a plate with a sandwich and a cup of orange juice. "Here," he handed it to you. You ate while Chan talked about the songs he was producing. It was interesting to hear even though you had no understanding about the subject. "It's getting late. I'm gonna get dressed so I can take you home, okay?" he said. "You don't have to, Chan." "But I want to." Chan walked you to your apartment. He stayed with you in front of your dorm for a while, kissing and hugging you like he didn't want to let you go. Reluctantly, he went back home. When you went inside, you were surprised to see Felix sitting on the couch with Jisung, playing video games. "Wow, finally," he said. "That was a long kiss," Jisung teased. He didn't sound bitter, it really looked like he was being funny, which made you feel relieved. You sat between them, laying your head on Felix's shoulder. "I had sex with him." "Too much information," Jisung said. They laughed. "It's not funny, guys." "What's wrong, Y/N?" Felix asked. "Isn't that good? You've had a crush on him since forever." "Yeah, but what if I gave him what he wanted?" You got up from the couch, frustrated. "He had sex with me, so he will probably run for the next girl to fuck." "Y/N, I'm pretty sure he's head over hills for you," Jisung said. "I'm going to my room." Later that night you finished your project with Felix. It was due soon, so you were relieved but disappointed in yourself. You let yourself go so easily. You didn't want to feel like that, but you couldn't help it. You were feeling insecure. It wasn't just sex to you, you really felt a connection with Chan. But did he feel the same? What if he just acted as he liked you so he could fuck you? Claim you as his so he could show dominance against Jisung? You didn't know. The day to deliver the project finally arrived. You were relieved that it was finally done and the semester was almost over too. Soon you would be on vacation from college. When you were leaving the classroom, you saw Chan waiting for you outside. "Hey," he said when you got closer. "Hi." He hugged and kissed your cheek. "Wow, right in front of me, disgusting," Felix said. "Can I have your phone number?" Chan asked. "I thought of asking Felix, but I wanted to ask you in person. I also wanted to see you." "Yeah. Of course." "Hey, guys. I love both of you, but you are not going to make me the third wheel," Felix said, standing between you and Chan and intertwining his arms with yours and with Chan's. It was the last day of class. You and Felix got a 9 out of 10 on your project. Felix thought it deserved more but you were just happy that you did well. Your teacher said that she was impressed by the theme you chose. She loved how bold it was and it was exactly the type of stuff that she wanted. You laughed about the way Felix got excited because she complimented your project.
You were sitting in the cafeteria with Jisung, Felix and, Chan. At first, the idea of Chan and Jisung together made you uncomfortable, but they seemed to get along, so you were satisfied. Jisung also thought it would be better if he moved in with Felix so Chan could live in the dorm with you, which Chan promptly accepted. You went home with Chan, talking about your plans for your vacation and how you could spend time together. You ate and watched some TV, but you were really tired. Chan laid down on the couch and you laid on top of him, resting your face on his chest. You loved to stay with him like this, feeling the warmth of his body. You just stayed there with your eyes closed and feeling his perfume. Chan's phone rang and quickly answered, he didn't know that you were awake and he didn't want it to bother you. You heard him talking to some guy, he was inviting Chan to a party. "Thanks for inviting me, mate, but I'll have to decline," he said, almost whispering. "I'm with my girlfriend and I want to spend the day with her." You smiled. Chan was what you always wanted and you finally had it, and he also had you.

The first time you see him is by accident.
Really - all you’re doing is trying to find Chan. You’re passing by the practice rooms, looking into them in hope he’ll be there, stopping to gaze at decorations and medals and trophies lined up on the walls. It’s when you approach a room that music plays from that you think you’ve found Chan, but when you gaze in, it’s definitely not him.
You don’t know who it is, but he moves like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
It’s hypnotizing, almost makes you want to drop your things and dance with him. There’s a sense of youth that comes from him and it’s almost overwhelming - but it’s not in energy, necessarily, but rather from the precision of his movements, the technicalities that he seems to both follow and break at the same time. Something vibrant seeps out between the seams of his body, colors you can barely recognize as they splash against anything they can reach. It’s almost tangible.
You watch him long enough for him to finish his performance (an unknowing one) with the last notes of a song you forgot was even playing. His eyes meet with yours, slow as he completes an eloquent turn, and at the same time, a hand meets your shoulder.
A small wave of embarrassment washes over you, and you turn towards whoever touched you, effectively breaking eye contact. “What are you doing here?” Chan asks, hair still wet from what you assume was a shower.
“Looking for you,” you tell him, following as he starts to walk towards the exit. “I wanted lunch, and you owe me for that time I took your British literature quiz for you.”
Chan groans but agrees to pay, and you laugh, though the world seems a little paler than it did a few moments ago.
Tumblr media
The second time you see him is by chance.
(Maybe.)
You’re waiting for a lecture to start, tapping your fingers against your laptop idly as you watch students trickle in last minute. It’s not a strict course, but it does start at nine in the morning, and most everyone shows up with a coffee.
You look down to brush a stray hair off of your table, and when you look up again, the dancer from before walks through the door, then looks right at you.
You feel a blush heat your face and it’s like he wants to make sure that you know that he knows, because he almost refuses to look away. You break eye contact first (like the last time, you remember for no reason) but still watch as his figure moves up the stairs, past the rows, and you hope he’ll just move past you too…
He doesn’t. He takes the empty seat right next to yours, and you don’t say anything, instead finding the peeling sticker on your laptop incredibly interesting. The professor comes in and decides that today he’ll take extra long to set everything up, apparently, and you want to scream.
“So,” the dancer says, voice quiet. It takes your breath away, the way he sounds. “Mind if I ask why you were watching me the other day?”
You cast a glance at him - not too long, you don’t think you could handle more than five seconds tops - and finally open your laptop so it makes you look busy. “I was waiting for a friend.”
“And?”
The smile in his voice is palpable. You’re already exasperated.
“You…” you start, finally deciding to look at him as some sort of subconscious power move. “You’re a beautiful dancer. It was hard not to watch.”
Beautiful doesn’t even cover half of it, but you figure he already thinks you’re weird for watching him, so you hold back the thoughts of youth and vibrancy and color. The dancer looks at you, almost blank for a moment, before a soft smile draws itself on his face. It makes your heart beat a little faster. He says “thank you” with a gentle tone, sincerely felt.
The class starts, and the two of you don’t speak throughout the next hour and a half. You type out notes on your laptop and you see him write down names of the paintings being shown on the projector, little thoughts and notes written afterwards.
By the end of class, your professor assigns an optional partnered project, and you’re more than prepared to head back to your apartment and start on it yourself. The dancer stops you before you leave, however, asks if you’d like to be his partner.
(And he says it like that, would you like to be my partner, polite and somehow sweet.)
You know your answer. “I don’t even know your name,” you stall, standing from your chair.
“Minghao,” he tells you. “I’m Minghao, and I’d like for you to be my partner.”
You say yes easily, put your number into his contacts even easier. The sky is blue when you leave the lecture hall, trees dotted with pink and purple flowers, and it is all so bright that you forget it wasn’t this way in the first place.
Tumblr media
The third time you see him is for school.
Underneath the excitement of giving Minghao your number, there is the knowledge that it’s for the sake of an assignment. He texts you the day after to ask if you’re free to meet up to work and you tell him sure.
(Sure is what you send back, but he doesn’t have to know that you burst into Chan’s room immediately after, plunging face first into his bed just to scream into his pillows. Chan had sighed, turned around in his desk chair to look at you, then asked what happened. He gave you two minutes to rant and then kicked you out, back to your own room.)
You and Minghao agreed to meet at the library on a day that neither of you had any afternoon classes, and you get there early, spend some time working on other classes. You have somewhere around thirty minutes to freak out to yourself before you see Minghao come in, dressed like he knows what he’s doing to you (which is really just a hoodie and jeans, but you think it’s the cap that really pulls the whole boyfriend look together), smiling when he finds you at a table in the corner.
“How are you?” is the first thing he says when he sits down, and you pull down your laptop screen a little to see him better.
“I’m good,” you say, feeling your heart pound. “What about you?”
Minghao sends you a kind smile. “Really good. Should we get started?”
Tumblr media
You lose count of how many times you see him after that.
Meeting up to work on the project soon becomes just meeting up, and after the project’s done and turned in, it happens even more. You hang out and get lunch, send each other texts and stupid videos, take walks around campus together. The weeks pass, summer mellows into fall, then into the early days of winter. You develop a genuine friendship with him, finding comfort in his presence, looking for him wherever you go.
(Although the crush is still there, potent and patient, stubborn in a way you’ve never experienced before. You wonder if it’s a sign of some sort.)
You’re in one of the practice rooms with him, sitting in the corner. You had a class nearby and he’d wanted to practice a little more, so you told him you’d work on your own stuff while he finished up and then the two of you could grab something to eat.
But you made a small error on your part - the dancing. You’d forgotten the way he moves (you haven’t seen him dance since that first time) and in no time at all you’re letting your screen go dark in front of you and watching him. Honestly, it’s not your fault, you really can’t help it.
But of course he notices.
Minghao meets your eyes through the mirror and raises his eyebrows at you, and all you can do is look away, desperately try to get your laptop up and running again so at least it seems like you weren’t watching him for too long.
“You’re staring,” he says, long after you’ve looked away.
“Sorry,” you tell him anyways, immediate, quick.
Then he says, “I never said anything about stopping.”
In a second, you look up from your laptop and up at him. He moves closer, crouches in front of you. His eyes are kind - they’re never not - but you think you see something a little more in them. “Sorry, I think I missed that last part,” you respond, blinking. Minghao smiles like you’re endearing.
“I said I want you to keep looking at me.”
You think you’re barely breathing when he shuts your laptop for you, slides it off of your lap and onto the floor (gently, with care, and it’s a wonder to you how he can focus on that right now). He practically crawls over you, one of his hands eventually reaching the junction of your jaw and neck and holding there. “I’m gonna kiss you now, if that’s okay,” he says, but doesn’t move. You nod as soon as his words reach your brain, eager and quick.
And the next few hours get a little wound up in your head, a little mixed in with the feeling of his body - that moves so youthfully, with so much vibrancy that it reaches everything around you - melting into yours and the sound of him asking you to tell me what you need, honey, and the still-playing slow jam music he was practicing to.
You watch him sleep next to you, hand curled around yours against his pillows, and think that nothing bad could ever touch him.
Tumblr media
The two of you… come together, after that.
Neither you nor Minghao use any proper labels, but you both seem to know. No labels are needed, really. You have each other and that’s all there is to it. And everything is really good.
You work together and laugh together like you’ve always known each other. He tries to teach you to dance with him when you’re in the practice room with him, pulls you up by your hands and guides you through your giggles. He was the first person you called when you realized that you had no idea what you were working towards, didn’t have a clue what you actually wanted to do with your life. He gets along well with your friends and you text his because they’re basically yours, now, too.
Winter turns back into spring, slow and easy. Vibrant and youthful. You’re not able to meet Minghao’s parents, but he meets yours (and you’re sure a quick introduction to his mom over a FaceTime call has to count for something). The two of you take advantage of the newfound warmth of the season and try to get out as much as you’re able to, with picnics and city dates and anything you can think of. A drawer in his dresser is reserved for your things, you bought an extra toothbrush for him to use when he stays over.
You watch him dance. It still feels like the first time, like color and breathlessness. You tell him he’s beautiful every time, feel yourself fall a little deeper when he still gets bashful amidst his comedown. You tell him you love him for the first time after he gets done with a performance - a proper one, for a showcase of the dance club he’s in. He says it back.
You think he put all the stars in the sky just for the two of you to gaze at them together.
Tumblr media
Things shift the beginning of your junior year.
Minghao tells you about a program he’s applying to, a proper dance academy in New York that could really kickstart his career. Training under some of the best choreographers and performers in the world.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” You ask him after he tells you, and he shrugs, leaning back in his chair. You’re studying at his apartment tonight.
“It’s just…” he frowns. “It’s so far away, you know?”
Oh. You hadn’t even thought about that, too caught up in the excitement of him being able to apply at all. A quick sigh leaves your lips, and then you reach for his hand, hold it between both of your own.
“That’s okay,” you tell him, though now that you’re thinking about it, you feel nervousness in the pit of your stomach. “We can work something out, though, when we get that far. We’ll figure it out.”
Minghao nods, a fond look in his eyes. He pulls one of your hands to his lips. “We’ll think about it if I even get accepted,” he says.
It’s bittersweet, but a promise nonetheless.
Tumblr media
Fifteen minutes after you get a call from Minghao, there’s a knock on your door.
You wouldn’t necessarily say you’re worried, but, well. Everyone’s experienced the jump of anxiety when they get hit with the “I want to talk to you about something” line. Nonetheless, you stand from the couch to open the door, mentally preparing yourself for any and everything.
“Hey,” you greet when you see Minghao, opening the door to let him in. His face is unreadable. “Everything okay?”
He walks a few steps into your apartment, waits for you to close the door before turning back around to face you. Then he holds up a piece of paper, the creases from where it was folded still bending. You send him a confused look.
“I got in,” he says, a grin breaking on his face, and you blink, then feel your jaw practically hit the floor. Minghao only nods like he understands, and before you know what you’re doing, you launch yourself at him, holding him close.
“Oh my god, Hao, that’s amazing,” you say into his sweater, then step back to get a proper look at him. Youthful, vibrant. “I’m so proud of you.”
He seems to soften at your words, pulls you back into him again with a gentle kiss to your head. “Thank you for believing in me,” he tells you, tenderness palpable in his voice. All you can do is squeeze him tighter.
Tumblr media
Minghao spends a lot of time away from you after that.
You’re not really hurt in any way - even though he got into the academy in New York, he still has to practice. You get it, this is important. He doesn’t text you as often, isn’t able to stop by as much, and you miss him, but you know how much this means for him. But it gets… weird, almost, after a while. Strange, even for him. It feels weird that he’s set to leave at the end of January and it’s December and he’s distant.
Both of you are laying in your bed, looking at the glow-in-the-dark stars on your ceiling, when you decide to bring it up. “You’ve been… kinda far away lately,” you start, nudging him with your shoulder gently. “Everything okay?”
His eyes stay on your ceiling, but you feel the way he sighs. “It’s about the program,” he says.
“Okay.”
“And about… you and me.”
Oh. That doesn’t… sound the best. “About, like… what we’re gonna do?”
Minghao nods.
You say, “I wouldn’t mind visiting every so often. It’d be hard, but I’m sure we could find something to work.”
Minghao shakes his head, says, “no.”
You pause, and when you look at him he’s already looking at you. What does he mean by no? Does he want you to move with him? Or does he -
He reaches for your hand and you think oh.
His eyes are a little glassy. You feel the tears come, too.
“Oh,” you say out loud. Minghao squeezes your hand. “So this is… this is it?”
Your room is suddenly cold, and you want to crawl under the covers and stay there. The person in front of you is blurred into something unrecognizable, but you can’t be bothered to blink away your tears.
“I think so, love,” he whispers back to you. “I think it has to be.”
The two of you cry like that for a while. In your bed, loosely intertwined and broken. Even the way Minghao cries carries a kind of vibrancy that’s overwhelming, makes you think of the first time you saw him so long ago, and now -
When you manage to get a better grip on yourself, you ask him if you can still see him off at the airport. He says, “I don’t know what I’d do if you didn’t.”
Then you ask if you can kiss him again. He responds by kissing you first.
And it’s sad, it tastes like salt and sorrow and you feel like the promises you never got the chance to make are broken. It feels like the most beautiful blue you’ve ever seen, and you know it’s only a branch of Minghao’s color.
He leaves soon after that, pulls on his shoes and his coat and turns around at the door to give you a tired smile. After he’s gone, you drag yourself to Chan’s bedroom, and once he sees the state you’re in, he offers up one side of his bed. Neither of you say anything, but the friendly reassurance of his hand in yours says enough.
You don’t fail to notice that everything seems to be washed out, a blandness you’re not used to.
Tumblr media
The last time you see him is at the airport.
It’s a cold day, despite being sunny. The airport offers little warmth, but you figure it doesn’t matter. You won’t be here for long.
It doesn’t take you very long to find Minghao - you still look for him wherever you go, even if you’re not looking for him. Even then, it’s still so easy for you to find him, to pinpoint that vibrancy, that youth. He’s talking to a few others, you think you met them. Soonyoung and Jun.
Minghao meets your eyes and you freeze, but then he waves you over with a gentle smile. You follow like you think you always will.
You greet Soonyoung and Jun and the four of you talk, albeit a little awkwardly, even when Soonyoung tries his hardest to lighten the mood. Eventually he has to leave, and Jun follows with a shy goodbye. They both hug Minghao before they go.
You’re not sure what to say, but after a minute, you find words. “I don’t know what I’ll do without you,” you tell him, a little selfishly.
Minghao says, “you’ll do good. I know you will. I’m not worried about you.”
He pulls his phone out of his pocket to check the time, and you think he’ll give you a stiff and sad goodbye, but he steps a little closer to you. Looks at you the way he used to.
“Maybe…” he starts, then pauses. “Maybe we’ll meet again.”
Maybe, you think. Maybe.
“I hope so,” you tell him, then watch as he leaves.

Alaris the Naga
Agender naga X GN reader, 6872 words.
You need a date for your workplace party, but the only person you can find is your roommate, a somewhat shy naga. Well, surely faking a relationship with them won't spark anything. Right?
You fixed your hair, carefully combing the short strands into some vague approximation of neatness. A cowlick poked up at the back of your head. You fiddled with it again and again, trying to drive it back down.
“Here. Let me.” The voice that came from behind you was soft, almost melodic, the sort of voice you would expect from someone who used their voice to make a living. Your housemate placed their hands on either side of your head, tilting it slightly. The touch made something in your chest stutter.
“Did you sleep on your hair funny?” they asked. Their voice was perfectly casual as they snagged a spray bottle from the sink and wetted your hair. Their voice was always infuriatingly casual when they touched you. Did they have to work as hard to keep it steady as you did?
“Something like that,” you said. Fortunately, you’d had enough practice, so your voice came out casual and unconcerned. “I fell asleep on my desk.” Their fingers smoothed your hair back into alignment. You weren’t sure whether that shiver that worked its way down your spine was due to the cold water dripping down your scalp or due to their touch alone.
They tutted. “Never mind your hair, you’re going to wreck your back sleeping like that! Your bed’s only three steps away from your desk. Surely you can make it there before you pass out.”
Despite the teasing words, you could detect the genuine concern that undergirded their voice. “I wasn’t intending to pass out. It was just that there was a lot of work and I-”
They sighed, somehow making it loud enough to overcome your words. “I keep telling you to take a break from all that! Good lord, you spend ten hours a day at the office and then you bring it all home with you anyway.”
You rolled your eyes. “We can’t all be our own boss, Alaris.”
“Hey, it’s not all fun and games, managing my own job. You know how hard it is to get deadlines done? I know the guy who sets them, and they’re full of shit.” Alaris petted the back of your head a couple more times. Was it to smooth down your hair some more? Just to touch you? A casual action with utterly no hidden motives that you were overthinking? Who could say.
“Look, in a couple of weeks, we’ll be done and we’ll have a big ‘end-of-season’ party, and then we’ll all be good.”
“I hope you’ll actually take some time off after that,” Alaris sighed. The took you by the shoulders and turned you to face them. Their nails were long, scratching slightly at your arms. You could feel the cool sensation of their scales even through your dress shirt. “Take a break. I’m always worried I’ll go into your room and find you on the ground, your body finally having given out under the strain.”
“I’ll be fine,” you said. “I get a full three hours a night. You don’t need to worry.”
Alaris huffed and waved their hand at you. “Just take care of yourself. Maybe once this is all over you can actually make the time to be a guest on my podcast.”
Their podcast was massively popular online, and the main source of their income. There was often some teasing that they could sit at home in their pajamas all day, chatting to a microphone, and make pretty much the same amount of money you did. Then again, you weren’t entirely sure you wouldn’t go insane if you had the same lifestyle, so you weren’t all that jealous.
“We’ll see,” you said. “I really do have to go, though. I’ll see you later.”
They waved and you snagged your work laptop before heading out the door. It was a bit of a jog to make it to the bus stop.
As soon as you sat down, your phone buzzed in your pocket. You sighed, fishing it out, but instead of an impatient text from your boss, there was a message from Alaris on screen.
A: You forgot to eat breakfast! ☹
A: Do you want me to bring you something? I can swing by your work real quick.
You smiled at their sweetness. They were always ready to do some kind thing for you.
Y: Don’t bother. They’ll probably have granola bars in the break room or something. But thank you.
A: Are you sure? A granola bar isn’t exactly a filling breakfast.
Y: I don’t want to take up your time.
A: I work from home, remember? I can do whatever I want.
Y: Are you using me as a way to procrastinate?
A: Busted. But I can still bring you something?
Y: No. Get your work done.
A: ☹
The texting conversation took up enough of your commute so by the time you received the last text, you were ready to disembark. You walked inside the office, giving a quick wave to your coworkers, and sat down at your desk.
As it turned out, you didn’t get the opportunity to eat anything once you were at work, because you were immediately drowned in a tidal wave of work. When you finally surfaced, it was nearly five hours later, and your stomach was growling wildly for something to eat.
Exhausted and bleary-eyed, you stumbled into the tiny break room and grabbed a granola bar at random. You took a bite and grimaced. Raisins. Gross.
One of your coworkers, a tall satyr with a tidal wave of curly hair, stepped into the room. “Hey, Sadie,” you said, rubbing a hand over your head. “How are you doing?”
“Tired. Just like everyone else.” She slumped into the seat across from you. “I’ve been trying to plow my way through the work I’ve got so I can get out early and actually change into something nice for my date.”
You stared at her. “You decided to go on a date now? Why would you do that?”
Sadie gave you a strange look. “I’ve got to find someone to go to the end-of-season party with me.”
You almost choked on your granola bar. “You need a date for that?”
Sadie pulled a face. “I mean, you don’t need one, strictly speaking. But a bunch of people started talking about bringing one and it turned into this whole thing, so now I feel like I should bring one. You know, I don’t want to look like the only person who’s not dating.”
“How does anyone have time to date right now?” you asked. Sadie shrugged.
“I dunno. A lot of people are married, apparently. So. I’m going to get a date. I suggest you get one as well. It’ll look good for office politics and all that. And also, you won’t look like a loser who can’t get a date.”
“It’s not that I can’t get a date,” you huffed into your cup of gross break room coffee. “It’s that I’m just not trying.”
“Yeah, sure, everyone will buy that,” Sadie said. “Like I said, you don’t need one. But it’ll probably look good. It makes you look promotable, and not like a loser.” She caught sight of your expression. “Hey, look, I’m not fond of it either. Maybe you can just get someone to come for the night? Get an escort or something.” She stood and clopped out of the room, her hooves hitting on the linoleum floor.
You groaned and leaned over the break room table. Figured. Now you needed to juggle work with finding someone to go to an office party with. You briefly considered just not going, but your boss took these sort of events seriously, for reasons far beyond your comprehension. If going with a date was expected, then you were going to go with a date. You had not put in hours and hours of work just to not get promoted.
It was well past seven when you dragged yourself home. Alaris was bent over the kitchen table, fiddling with their laptop. They waved their tail at you in greeting, not looking up from their work. “Welcome back.”
You made a noise somewhere between a groan and a grunt in response. Alaris lifted their head. “Bad day?” they asked.
“Something like that.” You put your laptop back on its charger and slouched over to the table.
“I saved you some dinner,” Alaris said. “I can heat it up for you, if you want?”
“Thank you,” you said. “Alaris, you’re an angel.”
They puffed up their chest with pride as they slithered across the kitchen. “I’m just helping out. I mean, it’s not much more effort to cook for two, and I know how hard you’ve been working.”
“I promise, I’ll get you something nice with the bonus check I’ll get when this is all over,” you said without lifting your head from the table. There was a heavy thump that suggested Alaris was wagging their tail in pleasure.
“You don’t have to. Really, I’m just trying to be a good housemate.” There was a hum as the microwave started up. “Do you want to talk about your day at work?”
“Ugh.” You lifted your head and thumped it against the table.
Alaris slithered back over to you. “That bad, huh?”
“I mean, the work itself wasn’t bad. It was pretty much the same as normal.” You lifted your head. Alaris was looking down at you with obvious concern. They had always been particularly emotive- it was that sort of openness and charm that made them so popular.
“Then did something happen with your coworkers?” they probed. You grimaced. “Is that a yes?”
“You know, for someone who deliberately picked a job where you have no coworkers, you seem awfully interested in mine,” you grumbled. Alaris shrugged.
“Work drama is at least three times more fun when you’re not involved in it. Why do you think I keep you around? Perfect story fodder.” Alaris winked and you rolled your eyes. “Maybe it’ll make you feel better to talk about it? I can at least help you come up with solutions.”
“I’m pretty sure no one can help me,” you grumbled. “Sadie told me today that- well you know that office party?”
“The end-of-season party,” Alaris said. “I’m familiar.”
“Well, apparently, a bunch of people are bringing dates, so now the whole thing is basically a couples party. And my boss loves that sort of stuff, so it won’t look great if I don’t show up with anyone.” The microwave beeped behind you. Alaris ignored it. “So, basically, I need to find a date in the next two weeks while not falling behind on all my work. Which is basically impossible.”
“You’re looking for a date?” Alaris asked. There was something weird, almost strangled in their voice. You looked at them, but their expression was carefully blank.
“I guess. Not that I have the time or the energy for it.”
Alaris shifted, scratching their nails across the table. “I could, er. Try to set you up with someone? Possibly? I have a couple friends who live close by. They might be willing to help?”
You pulled a face. “Well, see, that’s the other problem. I don’t really want to go to the party with a stranger. We’re supposed to act like a couple, aren’t we? I don’t feel like I could do that with someone I don’t know.”
Alaris made a noise of amusement. “Have you ever heard the saying ‘beggars can’t be choosers?’”
“I’m not begging yet,” you said. “You’ll know when I’m begging.”
Alaris smiled and shook their head. “Sure. Make sure to eat your dinner before it gets cold again. I’m going to finish editing the next episode.” They settled back in at their spot at the table and slid their headphones on over their ears. You stood up and fetched your dinner from the microwave. It was good, as per usual. Along with their other talents, Alaris was a good chef, and they made sure you had something good to eat at all times. In terms of housemates, they were definitely the best one you’d ever had.
After you finished eating, you went back to your room and kept working on your work. At nearly midnight, Alaris knocked on your doorframe. “Hey. Are you going to bed anytime soon?”
“Soon,” you said, barely looking up from your laptop. Alaris made a soft noise of disbelief in their throat. “I’ll go to bed before three.”
“Go to bed now!” Alaris flicked the lights off. You groaned and hunched closer to your computer. “You’re not supposed to look at a computer screen with the lights off!”
“Then turn the lights back on!” you called back.
“Go to sleep!” Alaris slithered into the room and draped a blanket over your shoulders. “Go to bed. Your work will still be there in the morning.”
“Yeah, that’s what I’m concerned about,” you groused. But the blanket on your shoulders felt irresistibly heavy and the weight went right to your eyelids. They drooped so much that you could barely see the screen. You yawned so widely your jaw cracked.
“Come on. To bed with you,” Alaris said. They took you by your shoulders, guided your out of your desk chair, and nudged you over to your bed. The feeling of their touch on you was comforting. A vague idea tickled at the back of your mind, but you were too tired to chase it down and interrogate it. “Get some sleep,” Alaris said. Their voice was far away. “You’ll feel better in the morning.”
As soon as your head hit your pillow, you were out like a light.
You woke with your head fuzzed and confused. Somehow, getting enough sleep had made you even more tired than staying up the whole night would have. Mumbling curses against Alaris, you struggled through as much work as you could manage before you needed to leave. Stumbling into the kitchen, you found a bagel suddenly thrust into your front.
“Eat this on the way to work,” Alaris said. They looked stern, but also concerned in equal measure. “And you have a good lunch, right?”
“You don’t need to fuss over me,” you said. “I’m not a child.”
“I’ll stop fussing when you learn to take care of yourself properly,” Alaris said. That thought from last night started to tickle at your brain again. It was still tiny, a little whisper of a thought, but it was stronger. You pulled at it, trying to turn it into something concrete. Before you could, Alaris nudged you toward the door. “Go on. You’ll be late for the bus if you don’t go soon.”
“Right.” You smoothed down the front of your shirt. “I’ll see you later.”
Alaris waved as you headed out the door. Even as you headed toward the bus, you kept chasing after that little thought that was somehow escaping your full attention. It felt important. What was it?
A few hours later, you were slumped over the break room table, Sadie looking at you sympathetically. “Did you not get enough sleep last night?”
“I got sleep,” you said. Sadie snorted.
“Look, man, you gotta go to bed at a good time. If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything,” she said. You shoved your head up with a groan.
“I actually went to sleep at a reasonable time last night. Alaris practically bullied me into it. But I think I felt worse than ever when I woke up.” You muffled a yawn into your hand and slurped down some coffee so thick and strong it was practically pudding.
“Oh, yeah, that happens. Your body gets used to not getting enough sleep, so when you actually manage to get a good night’s sleep, it freaks out and decides it wants to catch up all at once. Trust me, I dealt with that a lot in college. Just down a lot of coffee and you’ll be fine.” Sadie took a sip from her own mug. “Alaris is your roommate, right?”
You nodded. “Yeah. We’ve been living together for… I dunno. A while. It’s a good thing we’ve got going. They’re willing to deal with a lot of my shit, so. I like it.”
Sadie nodded, giving a delicate snort. “Sounds like they’re better than my last three boyfriends put together.”
That thought that had been tickling around in the back of your mind shoved itself forward at full force. You blinked a few times, startled. “Wait. Say that again?”
Sadie narrowed her eyes at you in confusion. “Uh, I said Alaris seems better than my last three boyfriends? They’re, like. Taking care of you. If I didn’t know any better, I’d probably think you were a couple.”
“Cool,” you said. The thought was demanding your full attention. It would work, wouldn’t it? As long as alaris agreed, you couldn’t see why it wouldn’t work. “Thanks for the talk. I’m gonna get back to work.” You left the break room without waiting for an answer, leaving Sadie frowning at your back.
As it turned out, you got very little work done. The thought commanded your full attention. If Alaris said yes, it would work. But that was if Alaris said yes. What if they didn’t? It was sort of asking a lot, even with the positive relationship you had. Would they be all right with it? Would it be unbearably awkward? The concerns flitted around your head like bees, preventing you from focusing on any of the work piled at your desk.
When you returned home, a bit earlier than you had for the past few days, Alaris was sitting in their usual position at the kitchen table, peering at their laptop. “You’re home!” they said, looking up in surprise. “Dinner’s almost ready. You’ll actually be able to eat it fresh for once.” They glanced at your face and their expression fell. “Oh. You look worried. Did something happen? Are you all right?”
“Everything’s fine. I just couldn’t focus, so I decided to come home a little early,” you said. “Actually, I had something I wanted to ask you.”
Alaris shrugged. “Sure. Just let me finish dinner, then we can talk.”
Dinner was a quiet, anxious affair. You fidgeted the entire time. Alaris kept glancing at you with obvious concern, but they didn’t say anything. They just waited for you to be ready to speak.
Once dinner was cleared away and the plates had been taken care of, Alaris fixed you with a firm glare. “Is everything all right?” they asked. “You’ve been looking at me strangely all through dinner. Is something wrong?” Their expression became even more creased with concern. “Something with work? What happened? I can support you if you need-”
“Alaris!” You cut them off, raising your voice enough to be heard over their frantic speaking. They stopped, staring at you. “You’re getting ahead of yourself. I didn’t get fired. Nothing’s wrong. I just want to ask you something.”
Their expression relaxed and they rubbed at the back of their neck. “Um. Heh. Sorry. Then why do you look so nervous, then?”
“I’m just…” You realized that there was no easy way to explain this and just shook your head. “I’ll ask you what I want to ask you and you’ll see why I’m nervous,” you said with a laugh. Alaris looked confused, but they nodded, gesturing for you to continue. “So, you know that we’ve got that work party, right?”
“Yes,” Alaris said. “The one you need to bring a partner too, right?”
“That’s the one. Er, and I don’t have anyone to go with me.”
“I did offer to try and find you someone,” Alaris said. “But you said-”
“I said I didn’t want to go with someone I didn’t know. I remember. And that still holds true. But I kind of had another idea at work. It’s something Sadie suggested to me. Well, she didn’t really suggest it, but she said something that made me think-” You cut yourself off, trying to stop the rambling before it got started. “Ugh, I’m getting nervous. I’m going to just come right out and say it. Alaris. I want to take you to the party as my date.”
Alaris’ mouth dropped open. You could see the sharp tips of their canines.
“Not as my real date,” you said, hurrying to explain. “I mean, you’d be going to the party as my date, but it wouldn’t be real. It would be, you know. You’d be pretending to be my date.”
Alaris’ mouth slowly closed. You saw their throat bob as they swallowed. “Er. Uh. You, uh. Want me to go to the party with you?” Their voice came out more strangled than you’d expected.
“Well, yes. I know we’re not dating, but most people at work don’t know that and it would be easier to pretend to be dating someone I know than it would be to pretend to date someone I don’t know. I would totally make it up to you, do all the house cleaning for a week or whatever you want.”
Alaris just stared at you, eyes so wide you could see the whites all the way around. “You don’t have to say yes,” you added. The way they were looking at you was starting to freak you out. It looked more like you’d cracked them across the head with a two-by-four than asked them on a fake date. “I just thought it would be a good idea- but if it makes you uncomfortable, you don’t have to.”
“I didn’t say I didn’t want to.” Alaris was flushed, red spreading across their face at a rapid pace. But they looked at you steadily regardless. “I- I was surprised, is all.” They swallowed and their blush started to recede down their face, though their ears were still bright pink. “Are you sure you want to ask me?” they added. “I am a podcaster. There’s a reason I don’t have an office job myself. Social interaction is… well, it’s not exactly my forte.”
“I really can’t think of anyone else I could be in a relationship with,” you said. The blush, which had been steadily going down, flared back into full force. It was probably a good thing Alaris wasn’t drinking anything, as it probably would have ended up spewed across the table. “I mean, I could, er, convincingly fake a relationship with.” Was that better? You weren’t sure. “So! You’re, uh. You’re okay with this?”
Alaris lifted one shoulder in a half-shrug. “I do have a request to make in return.”
“Yeah? What’s that?”
Alaris leaned across the table toward you. “I want you to finally be a guest on my podcast.”
You stared. “What, that’s it? Are you sure? I’m not exactly the most interesting person alive. I don’t think I’d make for a very good episode.”
“I’ve told my audience a lot about you. They’re curious. I think they’d be thrilled to finally get to speak with you. Or just to hear you speak.” Alaris smiled encouragingly at you. “That’s my price. Take it or leave it.”
“I’ll take it, I’ll take it,” you said, reaching across to shake their hand. “But I think I should still take you out for dinner or something.”
“If you want to,” Alaris said. They straightened up fully, their snaky tail wriggling underneath them. “Just let me know what I should wear.” They slithered out of the room, leaving you slumped over the kitchen table with relief.
It was a couple more weeks before the party, but you found yourself looking forward to it, strangely enough. The idea of going with Alaris was actually an appealing one. Even if parties weren’t your thing, at least you would be guaranteed to have a good time with someone you liked.
On the eve of the party, you dressed in a formal dress shirt and nice pants and knocked on Alaris’ door. “Are you ready to go?” you called. “You’re not going to stand me up, are you?”
“That might actually be a good cover story,” Alaris called back. “You had a date, but they stood you up. Might be able to play on their sympathy.”
“Are you trying to get out of this?” you asked. “It’s not going to be that easy. Back out now and you’ll never get me on your podcast!”
Alaris gave a series of giggly snorts. “A fate worse than death! I’ll be out in a minute.” There was some rustling and shifting from behind the door and then it creaked open. Alaris emerged from the room, head ducked shyly.
They were wearing a white shirt with a few glimmering buttons as accents. A skirt-like piece of clothing was attached to their waist, held up with a particularly fancy belt that glistened with gold bangles. Apparently, particularly nice belts were popular fashion statements among nagas. They also wore a small golden hoop on one of their ears, and their hair was teased up to look even more fluffy and soft than their natural style. “Is this the right style?” Alaris asked, smoothing down the front of their shirt. “I don’t go to many office parties, so I’m not sure what the dress code it.”
You opened your mouth to reply, but found it strangely dry. You had to swallow a few times before trying again. “Yes, I think you look great.” Alaris smiled, looking flattered. You offered them your arm, trying to recover. “We, uh. We should get going.”
Alaris’ fingers were cool on your arm as you headed out to the car you’d called. Usually the bus was cheaper, but you’d decided to splurge a little bit. Also, riding the bus could be uncomfortable for someone without legs, and the car specifically had accommodations for nagas.
You found yourself jittering as you headed toward the party. Alaris rested one of their hands on your elbow. “We’ll be fine. I’m sure that we’ll be able to convince them,” they said. You found yourself leaning into their comforting touch.
“You think you can convincingly act as my partner?” you asked, anxiety leaking into your voice.
“I-” Alaris’ expression flickered for a moment, then their smile returned, though it didn’t quite reach their eyes. “I think I’m a pretty convincing actor.”
Their confidence reassured you, and you leaned against their shoulder as you headed toward the party. Nerves still jumped in your chest, but Alaris kept a gentle hand on you, grounding you.
When you reached your office, you could see a few people milling around outside. Pretty much everyone was partnered up, including one couple off in a corner who seemed to be trying to eat each others’ faces off. You nudged Alaris and pointed them out.
“I guess if we really get tired of trying to mingle with people, we can just go to a corner and start making out.” Alaris made a choked noise and their face burned bright red. They looked so taken aback by it that you found yourself blushing as well.
“Uh, never mind. Let’s go inside.” You slipped out of the car and waited for Alaris to follow you. As soon as their full tail was on the ground, you started to walk toward the building, only to have your arm seized. “What? Something wrong?”
Alaris laughed at you, though it was so gentle and affectionate that you didn’t feel embarrassed. “You’re really not good at this, are you?” they said. “We should be walking in together, shouldn’t we?”
“Oh.” You felt your face grow warm again. This time, you offered your arm to Alaris, who took it and allowed you to lead them into the party.
It was loud, a dull roar of voices that you found grating. Alaris snuggled closer to you, arms tightening on your own. “More people than I was expecting,” they murmured.
“I guess if everyone brought a partner, then the usual population of the office would be doubled.” You carefully dodged a couple of people, threading your way through the crowd.
It took less than five minutes to get cornered by a coworker. You recognized them vaguely, a human who worked as an office manager and managed to be relentlessly cheery at all times. “It’s nice to see you here,” he said, grinning at you broadly. “I didn’t think you were going to come, you know. Parties don’t seem like your scene.”
You forced a smile as large as his was. “Well, I’m not a big partier, but I thought the occasion was good enough to come out. And there’s no reason not to show off my partner.” You gave Alaris a gentle squeeze.
Greetings were exchanged, and you were introduced to your coworker’s partner, another human who was just as smiley as he was. By the time you disentangled yourself from the conversation, you were feeling exhausted.
“Okay, see, this is why I don’t go to parties,” Alaris murmured into your ear. “So much talking about nonsense.”
“It’ll only be a few hours,” you murmured back. Your mouth was close to their ear, you noticed, almost brushing their skin. That hot flush crept up your face once more. “Er. Do you want something to eat?”
Food ended up being your temporary saving grace, since it was difficult to carry on a conversation with your mouth full of snacks. Still, your coworkers stopped by every few minutes to engage you in some kind of chatter. Alaris, for all their protests, was much better at small talk than they appeared to be. They were also quite good at pretending to be your partner. One of their hands was constantly hovering at your waist, fingertips trailing over your clothes. You found yourself hyperaware of their hand on your side, the brush of their shoulders against yours.
When it became clear that food was no longer going to save you from conversation, you looked for some other escape. Soft, slow music caught your attention, and you looked around to see that a makeshift dance floor had been set up in the middle of the office.
You nudged Alaris in the side. “Want to dance?”
Alaris looked down at their long, sinuous tail, then back up at you. “Are you sure you want to ask me to dance?”
“I’ve seen nagas dance before,” you insisted. It was true that it resembled the sort of swaying motion that snakes did before a charmer, but it was still something. “And you can’t be any worse than me.”
“Now you’re being modest. I’ve seen you dance,” Alaris said.
“The two years my mom forced me to spend in ballroom dancing never really left me,” you said. “But that means I’ll be a good leader for you. Just follow me.”
Alaris rolled their eyes, but allowed you to take their hand and guide them onto the dance floor. There was an open spot roughly big enough for the two of you fairly close to the center. You lifted the hand that was clasped in Alaris’ and settled your other hand on their waist. They fumbled uncertainly with their free hand for a moment before resting it on your shoulder.
You kept the dance simple, a slow four-step that allowed you to move in a loose circle. Alaris’ tail trailed behind them, and you were a little worried it was going to get stepped on, but the people around you seemed to be taking care not to.
Alaris leaned closer to you as you danced. Their head lowered to your shoulder and their free hand shifted to your back. Your face started to heat up. You could feel your heartbeat jackhammering away in your chest. Surely Alaris was close enough to feel it, but they didn’t make a mention. They just leaned into your body.
You glanced over their shoulder to see one or two of the other couples on the dance floor pointing your way and making ‘aww’ faces. Was that why Alaris was doing this? Because they wanted to make your couple act more convincing? The idea struck you like a knife through your chest, a startling pain that made you gasp.
Alaris pulled their head back. Their eyes roved across your face with concern. “What’s the matter? Are you all right?”
“I-” Your face felt like it was on fire under their scrutiny. Why had the idea that they were just pretending made something inside you twist and burn? You had asked them to pretend, after all. But suddenly the idea that all this was a farce, it ate at you. “Hold on. I need, uh. Some air. I’m sorry.”
Alaris looked bewildered, but you broke away and stumbled off the dance floor. You heard them calling after you, but you ignored them. Instead, you stumbled over to the door to the back of the office and pushed outside.
Cold air hit you like a bracing slap to the face. You gulped it in, appreciating the clarity. Away from all the other people and Alaris’ concerned gaze, you felt like you could think again.
What was that? All of a sudden, you were feeling things that you definitely shouldn’t have been feeling for your roommate. For your friend. Where had this come from? Surely it hadn’t been there all this time? You would have noticed it. Wouldn’t you?
No, you realized slowly. Because it hadn’t been a sudden drop into feeling all warm and fuzzy. It had been a slow, subtle shift of your feelings over the months that you’d known each other. And now that you were looking back, in hindsight, you could remember how eager you’d been to come home to them. How you’d felt so fond of them trying to take care of you. How much you craved the touch of their hands whenever they tried to help fix your clothes or smoothed down your hair. And, you realized, you would never have asked them to come with you if you hadn’t had some feelings for them.
The sound of the door opening behind you made you spin around. For a moment, you prepared to make an excuse to a coworker and shuffle back inside, but Alaris slithered out and you stopped breathing.
What were you going to say to them? A bolt of fear struck you. You had only just figured out how you felt about them. Would they even feel the same way? Were they just here with you as a friend? Maybe they were just a good housemate. That was possible. Maybe they-
“Hey.” Alaris’ voice cut through the whirling frenzy in your mind, soothing you just a little. They folded their hands in front of them, swaying awkwardly on their tail. “Are you all right? I just wanted to check on you.”
“Uh. Yeah. I’m fine.” You rubbed at the back of your neck. “I’m sorry I worried you.”
“It’s okay.” Alaris slithered over to you. “Are you done with the party already?”
Their voice was teasing and you laughed. “I was done with it before it started. But no. I’m going to go back inside in a couple of minutes. I just wanted to get some air. Er, if you’re done with the party, though, you can go. I wouldn’t want to keep you-”
“And abandon you? Never!” Alaris said. The immediacy of their response made warmth swell and flutter in your chest. For a moment, you gazed up at them, trying to convey your gratitude with just your eyes. They stared back, a flush slowly creeping across their face. They swallowed.
“Thank you for coming with me.” Your voice came out quieter than you expected. Alaris’ blush grew stronger, but they kept looking at you steadily. “I- I know it must be uncomfortable to have to pretend to date me, but-”
Alaris burst into laughter. You startled, staring as their upper half sagged forward with the heaving effort of their laughing. After a moment, Alaris stifled their giggles and gave you a weak smile, though it still crinkled their eyes at the corners.
“Er,” you said, a little confused. “Are you okay?”
“It was just sort of funny,” Alaris said. They reached out and tweaked a strand of your hair that was starting to cowlick up from your head. You felt your face flame. “It’s…” They abruptly closed their mouth, their sharp teeth coming down on their lower lip.
You had never been good at the silent dance of unsaid emotions. Most of the time, you stood in blissful ignorance of how you felt, but once you were sure what you felt like, you wanted to get it off your chest as soon as possible. “Alaris,” you said. “I- well, okay, this isn’t the best time to say it, but I’ve never been good at not saying things. I think… I think I’m realizing that I might have feelings for you.”
Alaris stared at you. There was no readable expression on their face. You continued. “I- that wasn’t why I invited you to come with me. At least, not intentionally. But I think I’m realizing that I’m so comfortable around you because I think I do like you. I’m- I’m sorry if that makes you uncomfortable. I wouldn’t have asked you to fake date me if I really thought I had feelings for you, but I only just realized it and- what are you doing?”
Alaris had both hands pressed to their mouth. Their shoulders tremored with some sort of repressed emotion. You stared at them. It was so hard to make out their expression. Were they crying? Laughing? About to throw up? Oh, please let them not be blackout drunk- you did not want to have to repeat your confession.
Before you could ask if they were all right, they threw their head back and their peals of laughter echoed across the back of the office building. You blinked at them. “Sorry, sorry,” they said, putting a hand on your shoulder. “I- oh, this is very ironic and it’s pretty funny to me.” They wiped a few stray tears from their eyes. “I was afraid of going with you because I thought it would make you uncomfortable, but I couldn’t resist the idea of getting to spend time with you. Especially as a couple.” One of their hands came over yours and your breath caught as the implications sank in.
“You’re saying you wanted to come with me as a couple?” Your voice was embarrassingly unsteady. Alaris didn’t seem to mind, though. They just leaned their forehead against yours.
“I have had a crush on you since almost a week after you moved in with me,” they confessed. “Why do you think I kept trying to get you on my podcast? It was my very shallow, very transparent attempt to spend time with you.”
A relieved giggle burst from your lips. “Oh, my god. You’ve been in love with me the whole time and I just never noticed?”
“Give yourself a little break. You’ve been working yourself all but ragged,” Alaris said. “And I wasn’t exactly trying to be obvious about it or anything. But yeah. I get very domestic with the people I like.”
“I’ve noticed. I just thought you were being nice,” you said.
“Well, I was. I was just being nice only to you.” Alaris leaned closer to you. Their mouth was so close to yours. Impulse struck you and you leaned forward, pressing your lips against theirs.
Their mouth was a little dry and rough against yours, but it softened as they molded their lips against yours. Their hands came down, securing around your waist, and, to your immense surprise, they lifted you up. Instinctively, you wrapped your legs around their waist. They were a lot stronger than you were expecting, for someone who sat at a computer for a living.
Their tongue explored your mouth as they turned to press you against the wall. You had a brief flicker of concern that someone would come out and see you, but that dimmed as they pressed closer to you. A moan slipped from your mouth as they kissed you deeper.
After a few minutes, or a few hours, or some other strange length of time, Alaris broke away from you. You took a deep breath. “Let’s get out of here.”
“Are you sure?” Alaris asked. “I thought this was important to your job.”
“Fuck my job,” you said. “I want to spend time with you. Just the two of us.”
Alaris laughed and set you back on the ground. “Ooh. You know, if we’re dating, you have to come on my podcast now.”
“Fine, fine,” you said. “But not tonight. Tonight, I want to try some things that would not be allowed to go to air.”
Alaris grinned, took your hand, and started to pull you back toward the parking lot.

Just Friends (Jeno x you, Chenle)
a/nn : hey there, the ending looks rushed but its coz i wanna try and keep my promise of posting a story this week. I know it's super bad but I am trying to pick my writing nerves back. Pardon me for all stupid scenes but I am trying.. feels like i am back to learning crawling and walking.. but here it is!
warning: friend zone
characters : jeno, jaemin, renjun, chenle
He was always there when you needed him. No matter how sunny or windy it is outside, Jeno always finds his way to come and sit by your side. It’s amazing and wonderful how he always manages to ditch his works for you.
“I’m bored,” you send the short message to Jeno, your best friend. Usually it doesn’t take long before his message will come in with a reply like “Should I come over?” but not today. Lately, he has been acting differently. He doesn’t text you as often and he seems busy. You didn’t fuss over it at first. Thinking that finally Jeno is giving himself some time and is able to do stuff he wanted to do.
You waited for his text but nothing came in, you wanted to call but you’re afraid if he’s still sleeping. After all this is a Sunday morning, he might have played games too much last night and slept early in the morning.
“Were you guys playing last night?” you send another short message to his gaming friend, Taeyong.
Taeyong replied to you quickly “We did, but Jeno wasn’t playing with us. What’s the matter?” Taeyong doesn’t even need you to mention you’re looking for Jeno’s whereabouts.
“Oh, well I am not asking about Jeno, what makes you mention his name.”
Taeyong only replies with a laughing emoji and a “Everyone knows both of you are always together. He always mutes his mic whenever you call.”
You blush at that, something cool about him is that whenever you called to talk about some of your feelings, he could always pick your call up. Although you know he keeps on playing, at least he mutes the mic and he’s listening to you and you feel less lonely.
But you wonder if Jeno is just doing all of this because he is your bestfriend or he likes you. No bestfriend acts this far! They’ll reject your call instead.
Your brother has repeatedly remind you that you shouldn’t fall for his sweet charms. You always deny him and said you are just seeing Jenoa as your friend, but why does it feel different now whenever he picks your call or stops his game for you. He used to do that, but only now did you feel it as something special.
You finally decided to call him since its almost lunch time and he hasn’t replied your text.
You reach his voicemail and that’s something new.
“I’m coming over to your house. Is everything okay?” you send it and quickly dress up.
There’s just something unsettling in your heart to not get any news at all from Jeno.
You arrive at his apartment door right on time when his roommate, Renjun, is entering the building.
“Renjun ah!” you yell and the boy luckily hears you and holds the door open for you. You need access to get into the building, good thing Renjun is here.
“Oh (y/n), what are you doing?”
“Going to check on Jeno.”
“Oh when I left for the market earlier, he’s still asleep.”
You just nod and follow him to the unit. When both of you step in, you don’t see any signs of Jeno at all. So, you knock on his door and push it open only to find its locked.
“Hm weird, he locked the room.” you mutter.
Renjun saw you still in front of the room and asked “Oh it's locked? He never locks his door.” Renjun tries pushing the door but to no avail it's not swinging open.
“It’s okay, I’ll wait.” you knock on the door and finally hear a reply.
Jeno finally appears behind the locked door. His messy hair is still there and he lets you into the room.
“Hey, is everything good?” you ask after sitting on his bed and Jeno grabs a fresh pair of sweaters. He was just in his tank earlier.
He nods, his eyes still closed.
“Were you drinking?” you push his hair away when he leans to your shoulder.
He nods “I’m sorry I forgot to tell you but it was an all guys night.”
You nod “It’s okay, I was never mad you didn’t bring me. I don’t like parties that much after all.”
“My head hurts.” he whines.
You chuckle “Forgot to drink water right?” you push him your water bottle and he chugs it down.
“Have you eaten lunch?” he asks after gaining his soul completely
“Not yet, you want to eat somewhere?”
He stands up and picks his phone, fiddles with it for a while before finally answering “I have something to do tonight. Is it okay if we just eat somewhere nearby?”
Your brow raised in surprise, Jeno has never been this weird. He used to have his own events but he will definitely tell you what it is and not just vague news. But you don’t want to meddle too much with his schedule, so you just stand up and leave him to change.
“Oh hey Jaemin.” you greet the third roommate that lives with Jeno. He too, seems to just wake up from his wild night.
“Where are you from?” you ask the messy looking boy. Well his shirt is super messy.
He just smiles lazily and rubs his hair away “A stranger’s house. Was too drunk to remember.”
You just scoff “Getting laid again?”
The jock just smiles and washes his face with cold water. “Jeno has great self control.”
You just nod. Though Jeno said the party was all guys, you know there’s still chances of the guys bringing girls over and Jaemin is just one of the popular jocks here.
“You should come and join us next time. The drinks are amazing.” he shakes his head after washing his face.
You laugh “You know I don’t like parties, I’d rather watch movies with Renjun.” you plop yourself down on the sofa, admiring Renjun’s busy hands chopping onions as he prepares his lunch.
“Fine, but don’t be jealous if Jeno finds his lover.” Jaemin teases you. You’re used to the guys teasing you that if you don’t claim Jeno soon, he will get a girlfriend eventually and you will be pushed away. You used to think that Jeno won’t push you away if he gets a girl, but now you start to worry what if the girl wants Jeno to stay away from you? Now that is not Jeno’s fault but you will get hurt right?
“Kidding, don’t kill me. Jeno will be mad if he knows I tease you like this.” Jaemin gives you a quick side hug and you just roll your eyes.
“Come (y/n), let’s go.” Jeno appears with a fresh face, looks like he showered quickly before going with you.
“So, what did you do last night?” Jeno asks you when the two of you are already in his car and he’s driving downtown.
“Just in my room, checking on my blog and watching films. Not much fun, but I enjoy that.”
Jeno smiles “Sorry, I will accompany you next time.”
You shake your head “Why are you weird? It’s okay. I never force you to hang out with me because I know you don’t like to watch films.”
Jeno tosses a glance on you “But still, you’re lonely. Your friends are away on their vacation.”
You punch him “What’s wrong! This is so not you.”
He just smirks “Fine, you seem bored to have me around. I’ll go away so you miss me.”
You thought he was joking, so you play along. “Okay then, let’s see who misses who first.”
--
You stare at your phone and blink several times after seeing a text from Jeno saying that he couldn’t accompany you to the market because his girl wants him to accompany her shopping.
You were shocked at the news that he has a girlfriend and he didn’t tell you. And you’re surprised because Jeno never wanted to accompany you shopping, what makes him want to do that for his girl?
Now you understand why the other boys tease you, indeed it's you who is losing if Jeno gets a girl. Even if you get a boy, Jeno won’t bother too much because now you realize you are the one who loves him as someone more than friends, and to Jeno you are just his other best friend.
You grab your phone and begin dialing a number you remember by heart.
After five beeps the sweet voice on the other side greets you “Hello (y/n)! What’s the matter?”
You pull your phone away from your ear, the loud noise coming from the phone was pretty loud for eleven in the morning.
“You’re partying this early? Jaemin, it's not healthy.” you groan but the other guy only laughs “We’re not partying hard yet. Where are you now?”
You smile “Home, why?”
“Not doing anything?” he questions as he takes a look around his surroundings. No Jeno in sight
“Nope. I’m just in my house alone, why?” Jaemin’s breath hitches and he gulps “Oh that’s weird, Jeno is also not here.”
“Where are you at?” your curiosity peaks and the sweet guy replies “Go change, I am having a summer pool party at Jaehyun’s house. Come join us, we’re having barbecues and some afternoon fun and games. Renjun will pick you up in thirty minutes.”
You take a look at Jeno’s text and finally decide that you should just go have fun in the sun.
“Okay, just wait Renjun.Take care and see you!”
You glance at your phone one last time, still no text from Jeno at all. Maybe this is it, the sign and time to finally let go of the “more than friends” feeling that you have on your bestie.
After donning your summer dress and taking a piece of swimsuit, you put your sunglasses on while taking the stairs down to meet Renjun.
“Hello there hottie,” Renjun chuckles when you already sit down nicely beside him.
You roll your eyes “What? I’m here to have fun.” you snicker and Renjun just shakes his head before finally accelerating to Jaehyun's house.
The host greets you nicely and Jaemin greets you to a bone crushing hug. You just hug him back before checking around to see who is here. Some of the guys here are familiar but some of them are also strangers to you.
“Do you know everyone here?” you nudge Jaemin’s elbow and the guy nods while sipping from his red solo cup “Everyone’s my friend here. What? You have an eye on someone already? I thought you’re loyal to Jeno.”
You scoff and hit his back “Shut up. We’re only friends and he got a girl. Now I want to make more friends, who is that guy?” your eyes focus on the young lad who has a black shades on, his fluffy brown hair just flying with the wind and suddenly you know Renjun is talking to him and he bursts into a super loud high pitch laugh. Interesting.
“Oh, that is a student from China, his name is Chenle, come I can introduce you to him.”
Before you can shake your head, Jaemin already drags you to the guy and they seem close because the next thing you know Jaemin is already introducing you to the cute guy.
“I’m Chenle, nice to meet you.” he extends his arm and you grab his palm, shaking it “(y/n), pleased to meet you too. So, can I get to know you better?” you wink and make the guy in front of you smirk.
Behind Chenle you can see Jaemin and Renjun stifling a laugh. The two guys wink back at you and leave you alone with Chenle.
Deep inside your heart you know why Jaemin and Renjun sent you that wink. They know you are moving on to the hot stuff in your sight and slowly forget about the unrequited love you have for your best friend.
After all, the myth is 90% right. When a guy and a girl become good friends, one of them will fall in love and still the best way to keep the friendship going is to keep being just friends.
So, maybe this Chenle sweetheart will be your boyfriend, or maybe someone else. Whichever that is, you have to let Jeno go to his significant others.
end or maybe there will be a part where you get to know Chenle and Jeno is jealous

If its meant to be
Tom x reader ; Josh x reader (in the end)
Summary: Okay so i've written this so many times but i am going to mix joshua bassett in this. So Josh plays Harley in Spider Man far from home as your love interest who is Tony's daughter, Amelia. Tom feels weird that you didn't tell him about Josh and you get in a fight and take a break, but you both found someone else and saw you weren't meant to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: i wrote this in like 30 minutes so it might be trash. Haha feedback is always appreciated! Love you all!
“So we do have a couple announcements for some characters.” Jon said as you were all in suspense but you and Tom knew what was going on, your characters were getting love interests, and this made you nervous. I mean you haven't been with anyone else besides Tom so having Amelia get a love interest scared you. You didn't want this to affect yours and Tom’s secret relationship.
“Peter and Amelia are getting love interests, Peter with MJ and Amelia with Harley.” Jon said as you looked at him with a questioning look.
“What do you mean by Harley? There is no one playing Harley.” you said with a giggle as Jon coughed adding to the confusion.
“Well that's the other announcement we are adding on to our cast, with….” he said doing a drumroll and Josh walked out with jazz hands as you were in shock seeing your long time bestfriend.
“No way Josh!?” you said as you two were greeting each other with a hug. You hadn't seen him since ever, he had introduced himself to everyone as everyone was happy to see the new addition to the cast. Everyone besides Tom though, he was protective of you because you two hadn't really officially told people you are dating and well you hadn't talked about Josh to Tom.
After this meeting you, Tom, Z,  Josh and Jon needed to be in another meeting to talk about the love interests.
“So I know this is new to all of you, but I would like for you guys to spend time together, you know to get the chemistry going for the characters, this is required and I know beef has been on about Tom and Z, but I want you to be comfortable when we start filming and I know you are all good friends.'' Jon said as you all nodded. You and Tom knew this was needed especially when a new castmate and love interests were introduced.You had gone back to your room as you heard a knock and saw Tom standing outside as you opened the door.
“Hey, is everything okay?” you asked as he coughed which you knew was a bad thing so you let him in wondering what was upsetting him this time, you had hoped the talk you had the night before would be reassuring enough.
“I-uh, wanted to know if this is going to affect us?” he said with his worried eyes as you half smiled.
“Tom it shouldn't, me and Josh have been friends for years and i'm sorry for not mentioning him, and I trust you with Z, so you should be able to trust me.” you said as he stood silent which altered your mood knowing what this meant.
“But you don’t.” you added as you continued to pack up your stuff to get to your shared room with Josh, Jon wanted you guys to be roommates with your love interest, which wasn't bad, you knew nothing would go on with Josh and vice versa.
“It's not that I don't,” he said as you cut him off quite angrily.
“Then what? Look Tom, I'm not going to cheat on you, he's my best friend, and yeah he's a guy, but you and Z are so close too.” you said as he sighed knowing that you were right, but he just felt uncomfortable. You trusted him, you and Z were very close too, so there was no weird feeling.
“I know, but we haven't really officially announced our relationship and I want to.” he said, placing his hands on yours as you frowned.
“No Tom, the only reason you want to is because Josh is my love interest, I'm not doing it because you're jealous.” you said as he scoffed.
“Please you’re  jealous of Z all the time.” he said as you were left in shock. You were insecure, but it was one time and he had reassured you and you believed him and you trusted him
“You can’t bring up that one time I was insecure, I was reassured, and I grew to trust you.” you said leaving the room. Not wanting to continue this conversation that you know was going to get heated. You knew leaving was bad, you didn't want to let this love interest get in the way of your relationship.
The very first day of filming came around and you were hanging out with Josh as Tom was hanging out with Z, but adding a little drama into the conversation. Z was always there to help with this type of stuff and Z didn't mind, but she sometimes was on your side, so advice was given to him so he can grow up so you two could have a good and healthy relationship.
“Look Z it's not that I don't trust her, it's just she never brought him up and now she has to be roommates with him?” he said as Z kinda scoffed.
“Tom you're giving me a reason to defend her.” she said as he frowned.
“What why?” he asked as she laughed at the male.
“Because of how you're reacting right now. Look at me and you we are friends too, it's not bad for her to have a friend as well. Look when me and Jacob were dating he had gal friends and he knew I was friends with you and many other guys and he didn't mind at first but its because that's work. Our job comes with stuff like this but trust is also built.” she said as he looked at her confused..
“Then why are you two not together anymore.” he pointed out as Z held her chest with sarcastic agony.
“First off ouch, and second because he didn't understand what my work meant to me. And you are acting like him so i'd suggest you trust her before she decides to leave you which I wouldn't be mad at her for.” he said as he rolled his eyes as you were all called in for a scene.
“Okay, and ACTION!” jon said as everyone went along with their roles. In the airplane Peter had walked up to you.
“Hey- what's Harley doing here?” Peter asked as you looked up at him from your seat.
“I guess Pepper thought I needed a buddy, I don't want to ruin your plan with MJ, so it works right?” Amelia said as Peter nodded.
“Yeah right..” he said as Harley sat next to you with a dual headphone adapter.
“You will not believe what I found in my pocket, we can watch movies together now,” he said as you smiled and Peter sat back in his seat with Ned.
“AND CUT! Okay that was good, let's take a lunch break everyone.” Jon said as you all walked off the set.
You and Josh ate lunch together as you posted instagram posts on your instagram story.
“So me and y/n are here eating and you will not believe what she is eating.” Josh said as he pointed the camera at your food.
“Don't expose me.” you said as he giggled.
“No I will, she is eating berry soup, what even is that?” he asked as you giggled trying to explain.
“It's literally in the title.” you laughed as you pointed out his food.
“Okay but like still-” he said as you cut him off with a laugh.
“Josh you're literally eating a bagel with blue cheese cream cheese, who even likes blue cheese?” you said as he flipped the camera at himself.
“Uh- okay you got me there.” he said as the story ended.
Tom huffed seeing you smile with someone else, but he tried reminding himself you two were just friends. Z had seen him replay that story so many times she took his phone.
“Z, give it back.” he said with a laugh which caught your attention as your smile faded and you looked back at Josh. During the filming  you had a blast, yet you and Tom were not talking. Not even texting. After filming was wrapped, you had said goodbye to Josh but you two were going to meet again during the press. Once you were back at your hotel you were cleaning everything up, again the similar knock was hit on the door as you sighed going to go get it.
“Look I don't want to leave fighting, I just- I do trust you, I just don't like how close you are with Josh.” he said as you raised your eyebrows.
“Tom are you hearing yourself, it's the same things you said last time.” you said as he sighed.
“What are you talking about?” he said as you started to get tears in your eyes knowing what was coming out of your mouth was going to hurt.
“You know what, this isn't going to work out.” you said as he looked at you sternly.
“Are you serious? So that's it we fight and you just want to end things.” he said as you scoffed.
“Tom we have been fighting for days, i just think we need a break, you know to let you know what you want.” you said as you left with tears in your eyes and leaving Tom crying and having the feeling he just lost something great that will be someone else's.
Weeks later you and Z were talking after Tom had told her you had broken up with him. She wasn't mad at you, she knew this was coming and well she was there to support more for you but for Tom also.
“Look boo, you were in the right here, I told Tom to grow up and well he didn't.” she said as you laughed.
“Well I mean it's just a break, until things settle down.” you said as she nodded.
“Yeah I know, just don't get hung up over just one dude, meet new people.” she said very enthusiastically.
“I can't really do that.” you said as she grinned.
“Yeah right what about Josh?” she said as you shook your head.
“And look like I broke up with Tom to be with Josh.” you said as she looked at you very seriously.
“Girl, like you said its a break plus your relationship wasn’t public, and Tom met someone didn't you see.” she said as you nodded. “Look all i am saying is give him a chance, see where it goes.” she said as you nodded.
“Okay fine.” you said as you hung up hoping to see her soon for press.
Months passed and you were packing for press with the cast. You and Josh had started talking and let's say things were getting somewhere, he had admitted he liked you for awhile, but wasn’t sure if you were single, and you had explained everything to him about Tom, but you admitted you liked him too, which created a little relationship between you both. Josh then called you and you smiled seeing his name. You answered as you placed your phone on a stand.
“Hey you!” you said as he smiled looking at you packing.
“Hey babe, are you ready for the press?” he asked as you smiled.
“Of course i am, are you?” you asked as he grinned.
“Yeah I am, I get to see you again berry soup.” he said as you laughed at the nickname.
“Oh okay blue cheese I am happy I am going to see you too.” you said as he smirked with the nickname you gave him.
“Oh haha, well we're going to hang right?” he said as you nodded.
“Yes of course why wouldn't we hang out?” you asked as he sighed.
“Well I thought you would only hang out with me since it's required by Jon.” he said as you shook your head.
“No bubs, I want to hang out with you.” you said as he nodded.
“Okay good, so i'll see you soon?” he asked with a shy smile as you nodded.
“Yes blue cheese i'll see you in...like 7 hours..” you said as he giggled.
“Alright berry soup.” he said as you both hung up with excitement that you two were going to be able to see one another again.
As you arrive at the hotel seeing that Josh was looking for you and you surprised him with a hug as he was happy to see you too giving you a tight hug. You two missed on another so much you had dreamed of this. “Hello blue cheese.” you said as he smiled with a grin.
“Hello berry soup I missed you.” he said as you gigiled and he gave you a peck on your temple as you sighed happily to see him.
“I missed you too...bubs.” you said as your foreheads touched. You then were meeting up with everyone else. Z had walked up to you with a hug and hugging Josh as well.
“You don't mind if I steal her do you?” she asked as he shook his head.
“She is my source of warmth, but I’m sure I’ll be warm..” he said as you playfully punched him as he held your hand and let go when you walked away.
“So you took my advice.” she said as you smiled.
“Yes I did Z.” you said as she grinned.
“To be honest i knew you liked him when you were filming your scenes with him.” she said as you baffled. I mean you did, but what type of person would you be if you told people that while you were with Tom, if you were true to yourself you liked Josh since you met him and well maybe this was your chance.
“Well then, we will see.” you said going back to Josh.
As you all got to your first interview you and Josh sat next to one another playing with the mic, Tom had noticed how close you were, but he knew those feelings for you were gone, he met Nadia, and well, he was quite happy, and you were happy for him truly.
“Hey guys, welcome, today we are here with Spider- Man far from home cast!” the interviewer said as you all smiled. The interview consisted of any hopeful spoilers, but lucky none were out. Personal questions came near the end and you were surprised one of them was or you.
“So y/n, you're character Amelia got close to Harley, do you think you and Josh are close.” she asked as you smiled looking at him and back to the interviewer.
“I would say we are, I mean we were in a couple projects together in the past and we have been in touch since then, and when Jon had made the announcement of a new castmate, i was shocked but happy to be reunited with an old friend.” you said as you looked at josh with a smile.
“Do you all feel like a new castmate was a good thing?” she asked as you were scared for what people had to say, you were over the moon Josh was a part of a project you had been a part of for years, so you hoped people were happy too.
“It was such a good thing, you know I love everyone, but the more people we add the more love we have as a family.” Z said as everyone nodded.
“Yeah it honestly adds so much more chemistry between us.'' Jacob said.
“Yeah i agree with that since Jon loves big families, its honestly the best family ever.'' Tom said as everyone agreed. You were glad he was being a professional at this, but you were too since the beginning and you were glad it was a mutual feeling.  After this interview ended, you all had like 2 hours to chill after working on interviews. Your next one was a talk show. You went back to your room as Josh had texted you asking if you wanted to go out for lunch. You agreed as you got out of your hotel meeting Tom eye to eye which surprised you.
“Uh did you need something?” you asked as Tom shook his head staying silent.
“Can I come in?” he asked with an awkward smile.
“Uh yeah sure.” you said moving out of the way as he entered.
“So you and josh are you..?” he said as you smiled.
“Uh i'm seeing where things go.” you said as he huffed.
“So, you ended our relationship to be with him?” he asked as you shook your head.
“No I didn’t, but I could say the same about you, but i'm not that type of person, but i'm truly happy for you.” you said as he just looked at you.
“Look, I just want an explanation as to why you ended us.” he said as you shook your head.
“I'm not doing this now, we are over and we both found people who understand us and I just want to leave it at that alright. I meant what I said that day, that we weren't going to work out. I know that we were on a break, but it was the best for us.” you said as he had started to tear up and he nodded.
“Yeah you’re right, I am happy and I'm happy for you too.” he said as he left your hotel room and you got ready to meet up with josh. You were happy with Josh and you were happy for Tom. You two just weren't meant to be as much as you two wanted to be. You knew this was a part of heartbreak and you had grown, you both have. Josh was the best thing that happened to you, and you knew Tom was too, but in a way he helped you grow and let you have the chance to meet Josh again and have a future of some sorts with him.

Alright so!! I got some requests from people for me to make a post with tips on how I self-study my languages, so here we are! It’s not perfect and everyone studies differently, but I hope some of these tips can help you out.
Personally I study Korean & Thai so this list is aimed at those but a lot of the study tips are pretty general and can be applied to whatever language you’re learning.
I’m an energetic puppy in human form - I simply CANNOT sit still and study for longer than 20 minutes before getting insanely restless and distracted, so I tend to only actually sit down and actively study once a week. If you’re expecting something clever and insightful this is absolutely the opposite of that... I basically trick myself into learning! So here is my silly little guide, let’s go!
General Tips:
★ Get ridiculous with sticky notes. Seriously, do it. If you’re just starting out and don’t know the words for all of those household objects then go ahead and scribble them down on those post its and stick them EVERYWHERE. It might drive your family members/roommates crazy but hey... you’re doing it for a good cause, right?
★ Don’t rely on romanization too much - if your language has its own writing system, focus on that using as much as you can. Romanization seems helpful but in the long run you’ll rely on it too much. It’s better to get familiar with the native writing system asap!
★ Pick out a word/phrase of the day and write it somewhere you’ll see it often. I have a whiteboard in my room that I’ll scribble a few phrases onto and then every time I walk past it, I’ll say them. Or if I’m not gonna be home all day then I write something on my wrist and glance at it throughout the day! This one is the most fun because when people see it they’re like “ooh that looks pretty!” or “ooh does it mean something deep and profound?” when in reality you have the phrase I like cheese written on your arm and it never stops being entertaining. Bonus points if someone native to that language reads it and looks at you like you’re crazy.
★ Say the words in silly voices. It sounds weird but if you’re sitting there repeating words (like the word banana, for example) from an app in a monotone voice you’re definitely less likely to remember it than if you’re yelling out “BANANA!!” in an opera voice or squeaking out “b an a n a” dramatically as you let go of Jack’s hand and let him sink into the ocean.
★ Don’t isolate vocabulary. Learning new words is great, but it’s useless and you’re more likely to forget it if you don’t learn to use it in a sentence.
★ Keep a diary! One of the absolute best ways to practice your writing and improve your skills is to just jot down a few things every now and then. It’ll be rusty and you won’t have much to say at first and will definitely keep needing that dictionary every 2 seconds, but after a few weeks you’ll really notice the difference. Buy pretty pens and stickers to motivate yourself to write in it! It’s also fun to do this around people who can’t speak it as they’ll look at it in awe and you can show off when in actual fact your writing is usually a clumsy scribbled “today I snacks eat and go sleep” but hey what they don’t know can’t hurt and it’s always fun to look like a genius.
★ Talk to your pets in that language. They’re not going to judge you, they actually don’t even care what you say as long as you say it in that entertaining pet voice. I don’t have any friends that speak Korean or Thai so the majority of my speaking practice is hurled at my dog. If you don’t have a pet, then plants or stuffed animals work perfectly too!
★ Listen to language podcasts while you do household chores, heck if you’ve gotta do something boring, might as well yell foreign words while you do it!
★ Change your phone settings to your target language. That way you’re literally forcing yourself to use it, and it becomes second nature and you pick up key words so quickly. Only do it if you know how to get back into your settings and change it back if you have to... or else you’re stuck and lost.
★ Listen to music and sing a lot. Just scream those lyrics! A little off-key screeching never hurt anybody!
★ Get comfortable with numbers. They’re something that is dominant in ALL languages and you’re going to use them on a daily basis. Start with learning how to count to ten and get comfortable with it, and then go higher. Once you’re used to numbers individually, make it harder. I used to get my mum to write out 10 random numbers between 1 to 10,000 in the morning and I would translate them, and then I would do the same for myself in the evening. After a while you get quicker at them and before you know it you don’t have to awkwardly translate them in your head anymore, the numbers are just there ready in your brain.
★ Don’t only watch dramas! Watch more natural stuff too - variety shows, vlogs, instagram lives... anything where people are just chatting like they normally would do. That way you’re subconsciously learning more casual speech patterns and casual language too!
★ Don’t just study at home! Always make sure you have a dictionary handy (like on your phone, for example!) and keep your brain busy while you’re out and about. Buying some groceries? Try to name everything in the fruit and vegetable aisles and if you don’t know the name of something, look it up! You’re more likely to remember vocab this way as your brain has a situation to associate it to.
★ Be mean and make yourself work for things you normally do - check your horoscope on a regular basis? Read it in your new language instead! Want to check out the weather forecast? Do it the hard way.
★ Don’t feel like studying? Not in the mood? Then don’t do it! Instead put on your favourite show in your study language of choice. Not every study session has to be a hard one. Just relax and watch a foreign movie! You have no idea how much your brain picks up without you even noticing, chilling out and watching a drama absolutely counts as studying. Don’t force yourself to study if you’re not feeling it, you’re more likely to learn if you’re having a good time.
Advanced Tips:
★ Get keyboard stickers - if your new language has a different alphabet and you use your laptop to study it a lot then you’re definitely gonna need these! You can buy them SUPER cheap on ebay!
★ Change the language on your Netflix account and get ready to binge watch your faves! If you change your profile language to the one that you’re studying, you’ll notice that a lot of the shows available will now show subtitles in that language too. If you’re pretty advanced then now is probably the time to drop your native subs and start watching with the original subtitles in the original language.. good luck!
★ Play Pokemon. When the latest Pokemon games started coming out with Korean language options I JUMPED at the chance - what better way to study than to just laze around playing video games? This is great for any other kinds of games you can snatch up in your target language too.
★ Read a favourite book in your new language. A common one is Harry Potter! It’s pretty much available in every language at this point and it’s a story you probably already know, which means you never get too lost because you know the plot already.
Resources:
Here are a bunch of apps and things that I use for studying that I find super helpful (and all of these are free!)
Drops (for Thai and Korean - available in both the apple store and the google play store)  - I use this app every single day without fail. It’s brilliant for expanding your vocabulary (there are TONS of languages available on there too!) HOWEVER: It only lets you study for 5 minutes and then you have to wait around 9-ish hours before you gain another 5 minutes to work with unless you want to pay for more. But honestly? That’s a good thing. You only need 5 minutes of vocab study before your brain wants to dissolve into mush anyway. I get up, do my morning stuff (usually just involves rolling around and blinking in confusion before grabbing a coffee) and then sit and do 5 minutes of drops, and then by the evening my 5 minutes have replenished and I do it again. Rinse and repeat, and you’ll be learning more words in a week than you even realise!
Duolingo (I use this for Korean, there is currently no Thai option) - This app is fantastic. I don’t recommend it for beginners as it should be used as more of an aid alongside your natural studies, rather than as a study resource itself. This app expects you to already know the basics so I’d dig into this one once you’re starting to get a little comfortable with your language!
Naver Dictionary (for Korean) - I use this every single day! Not only does it help me when I need to find a certain word, it also gives me lists of example sentences which is PERFECT and super helpful when I’m trying to memorize words!  And for Thai I use Thai-English Dictionary (I can only find it in the Apple store sadly) and that’s incredibly handy too, I wouldn’t be able to cope without it! I also use this website as a Thai dictionary when I’m not on my iPad!
Talk To Me In Korean (for Korean) - This has been a core element to my Korean studies. They have tons of lessons available on their website, they do regular YouTube videos (usually only 5-10 mins long, perfect for just a mini casual study session!) and they also sell textbooks and do podcasts too. If you learn best from textbooks then these are by far my favourite ones I’ve found, give them a try! They’re not too pricey.
Lingodeer (for Korean) - It’s cute, it’s friendly and it’s helpful!! I learned a bunch of new phrases using this one and it’s perfect for casual study!
Memrise (for Korean) - Fantastic if you’re a beginner! There are tons of languages available on here too. Although, there are only 3 levels in Korean so I got through this one pretty fast.
Eggbun (for Korean) - An app that encourages you to learn using a texting format! I haven’t really used it much but I have friends that have said it’s really useful!
Ling (for Thai and Korean) - This one was pretty good, once again though I wouldn’t use it if you’re a beginner, it’s probably a lot more helpful if you know the basics before you attempt this one! I’ve only used it for Thai but there’s a Korean option you could try checking it out!
Mondly (for Thai and Korean) - This app is cheeky and it wants your money. You get a bunch of free lessons to start with which are GREAT but that’s it. Then it reduces you to one free lesson a day but honestly? Still useful so go ahead and use it. They also have speaking practice available too!
Thai2English (for Thai) - This website is an absolute LIFESAVER!! If I’m ever browsing and come across a sentence that just throws me, I simply copy and paste and this legend of a website just breaks it down for me word for word.
Extra Korean links:
Children’s books in Korean
Learning Korean through fairytales - a textbook used in Korea for children who are learning to read, it’s helpful as a Korean language learner too! You get a little story and then it’ll ask you questions about what you just read.
TOPIK previous exams - these are so good for practice and if you want to get a general idea of what academic level your Korean skills are at.
Learning to type in Hangul - this one was fun and I now type Korean pretty comfortably on my laptop so if you know you’re gonna be typing a lot, I recommend this program!

“Okay okay fine, I’ll go. You happy now?” Y/F/N has been begging you to go to this nightclub opening for weeks now and you can only say no so many times before you start to feel defeated
“You won’t regret this Y/N/N!!!” she yelled excitedly while hopping up and down hearing her jewelry clash together as she moves. You really wish you could believe that but that seems unlikely.
After a few hours of her getting you ready (she wanted it to be a surprise) she was done
“Let me get the finishing touches!” She ran off somewhere and returned with a burgundy velvet dress and black heels “You are wearing this and there is no way around it.”
You eyed the items imagining how uncomfortable you will be wearing them but it seems like you have no option to disagree. You reluctantly grabbed the dress and shoes and made your way to your bedroom, closing the door behind you with your foot. You stripped yourself of the baggy clothes you already had on and put on the dress, you looked at yourself in the mirror. Everything was different. The makeup was heavy, your hair was curled and the dress. The dress. It attached itself to your skin, concealing nothing. In this dress everything was on display. You were snapped out of your thoughts when your roommate knocked on the door
“Are you almost do-” Y/F/N walked in becoming speechless (which is a rare occurrence for her) “Who would have thought you would have such a nice body under those tents you call clothes”
“Ha ha, very funny” you answered while throwing a shirt that was laying on the ground towards her. “I just feel like it’s a little much, you know?”
“Y/N, girls wear less stuff then this all the time. I wouldn’t stress if I were you.” You looked back into the mirror staring at the girl you didn’t recognize. What the hell, its for one night. I’ll live
~
You and Y/F/N had just got through the door and the place was packed. The heat and smell radiating off of bodies hits quickly, making what would have been a beautiful place absolutely miserable.
“Hey I’m going to get a drink. I’ll meet up with you later.”
“Wait no! Y/F/N you can’t leave me you brought me here!”
“C’mon live a little Y/N/N!!! You never get to live the same day twice!” She kisses you check “Just have fun” She smiled and just like that you were alone.
You were alone, in a club. Surrounded by drunk sweaty bodies and shitty music. Oh and did you mention ALONE. You walked to the bar since standing around in these heels seemed like a bad idea. You took a seat and ordered a cherry coke.
“Can I buy you a drink?” A voice spoke behind you. You turned to see a curly haired boy. He wore a simple suit but sunglasses in place of a tie. A few buttons undone at the top of his white collared shirt. There is no doubt he belongs here.
“If that’s your opening line, then no” You smirked at him turning you head towards the bar when the bartender approaches with you cherry coke. You nod, thanking him before he leaves
“What would you rather it be?” The voice spoke again. This time sitting on the empty stool next to you.
“I don’t know just something less... on the nose” you turned you head slightly towards. He put down the glass he had in his hands making you notice the ring that adorned his pinky finger. It was simple but was seem to be there to catch attention. He then holds his hand out.
“I’m Harry” You shook his hand.
“That’s still on the nose” you smiled moving you hand from his back to your glass to take a sip of your drink.
“Do you want to be my date for poker night tomorrow?”
You nearly choke on your drink. He smirked taking a swig of his drink as well.
“I don’t even know you or how to play poker”
“Dates don’t have to play, I just need one and I already said my name was Harry.” he reminded you. You eyed him up and down.
“Y/N.”
You two ended up talking for the rest of the night, not moving from your seats. First impressions aside, he seemed like a nice guy. He explained to me that he told his mates and brothers that he had a date but plans fell through and he couldn’t show up alone. You agreed seeing that he was in a pinch and you didn’t hate his company. You traded number so he could text you the details. Around 2 am Y/F/N came looking for you.
“Y/N/N!!!!!!!” she draped her arms around you neck, you could smell the alcohol from her breath.
“I’m sorry to cut our conversation short but, I have to tend to my irresponsibly drunk friend”. Harry laughed at your joke
“Don’t worry about, I’ll text you later” He leaned in, kissing your cheek and then walked away
“Hey Y/N/N! That’s the most action you have gotten in years.”
You walked outside, called a cab and started helping Y/F/N in the car. Then you noticed you left you bag on the bar. You told the cab driver to wait and headed back inside. Thankfully you spotted it, right where you left it. You grabbed and made your way out the door, but the mixture of the heels and fast walking made you lose your balance. You closed your eyes bracing yourself to hit the floor when you felt two arms catch you. You opened your eyes to be greeted by icy blue ones.
“You alright miss?” He had blonde hair that was perfectly styled. His eyebrows knitted together in concern.
“Uh, um yeah yeah yeah yeah, I’m good, I’m good. Thanks.. for that.” You stuttered while moving out of his hands, steadying yourself. Taking a moment to look at him again. He was slightly taller than you while in your heels. His suit matched my dress perfectly. You looked at his face again “Uh yeah thanks again” you said before turning to walk towards the cab.
~
That night when you went to bed you couldn’t those eyes out of your head. “What are you doing Y/N, you are never going to see him again, just go to bed.” You whispered to yourself. Taking your own advice, you fell asleep soon after silently wishing your dreams to be filled with the handsome stranger.

I hope you guys liked it, I had a lot of fun writing it! Chapter 2 is on the way soon!

Just this one time (Steve Rogers x Reader - College!AU)
Request: Hey love I see that you are taking requests and I’m just in desperate need of a college au Steve Rogers moment lmaoo💀 maybe they’re best friends and there’s like this party that’s coming up and she dresses to the nines and was planning to confess her feelings there but sees him with another girl but happy ending and lots of fluff please | Or maybe a steve Rogers fic based on the song are you bored yet by wallows (by @jazzzhargrove), [Marvel-Masterlist]
Summary: Steve & you have been roommates for two years now. You were best friends even though you have started to develop a crush on him. One day, Steve asks you to accompany him to a party of one of your friends. You agree, planning on confessing your feelings for him. At the party, a bad surprise awaits you…
Words: 4,310
Warnings: slow burn? (idk man, I didn’t mean for it to be this long), lack of experience when it comes to college (pls don’t blame me), Steve going from angel to devil to angel, a bit of angst, happy ending (I swear)
If you like my work & wanna support me: a coffee would be highly appreciated ❤
College. You imagine something when you hear this, am I right? Like, the cliché teenage movies with not enough budget that make you think you know what college is like. You were thinking the exact same not too long ago. Now you were here & nope, it was nothing like you ever imagined.
A bit over 2 years ago, you graduated from high school. Finally. You hated that place. The only reason you continued going there was because you wanted to get a well paid job in the future. Yeah, it was a hell ride but you made it out alive. Time to focus on college.
The first real problem had begun before your actual classes had started. Living far away from college meant that you had to live somewhere on the campus. You looked at the rent & almost shitted yourself. There was no way you could pay for this on your own. Your parents already made sure to pay your college tuitions so you could not ask them for more. So you decided to use your twitter account for something important for once. You sent out a tweet, asking if anyone would be interested in sharing an apartment near your college, preferably someone who studied there as well. Not too long after that you got a private message from the account @steve_rogers. He said that he was interested in moving in with you since he could not afford an apartment himself. Before you wrote him back, though, you checked out his account, making sure it was not a kidnapper or someone like that. His tweets seemed truthfully & he was of equal age. Perfect, right? You replied with an address of a coffeeshop near the campus & told him to meet you there. Two days later, you guys were sitting there, drinking a coffee & planning everything out. You were happy that he really was a Steve Rogers who would be studying at a college & not a…50-year old creep. What was even better was that this Steve was handsome as hell & had the personality of an angel. You also found out that he would be studying the same thing as you, Fine Art. He would be a good roommate. The two of you exchanged numbers before saying goodbye so you could stay in contact & ask if more questions appeared. You were happy. You found someone trustworthy who would share an apartment with you. That meant that both, Steve & you, had enough money to pay for the rent & to have leisure, too. You could not wait to move in & start your college-journey.
A month later, your parents rented you a truck to move all of your stuff into your new apartment. You were so excited. Not only for your new home but also because you would be meeting Steve again. Ever since the coffeeshop, the two of you had been texting & calling each other all the time. At first, it was simply because of your apartment but after some time, you just started talking casually & became fast friends. Steve told you he was already at your new home & told you you would love it. The drive seemed to last forever but eventually, you arrived. Steve was already waiting for you outside, wanting to help you with all of your boxes. You got out of your car, sprinted towards him & hugged him like you had known him forever. Weird…you had never had such a connection with someone. This was the start of a great friendship, you were sure.
*Present Day*
What's wrong? You've been asking but I don't have an answer How come? I'm still thinking, let's pretend to fall asleep now When we get old, will we regret this? Too young to think about all that shit And stallin' only goes so far when you've got a head start
“(Y/N)?“ Steve screamed from the bathroom. He always did that. “You know you can still ask me when you finish showering, yeah?“ you screamed back. “That’s not as much fun, though.“ he answered. You shook your head & let out a low chuckle.
A few minutes later, Steve exited the bathroom, wearing just a white towel which hung low on his hips. He did that so casually, like it was the most normal thing on earth. You wished he would not have this effect on you. When did you catch feelings for him? You were not sure. All you knew was that he acted like the best friend you had always craved. Why did you have a crush on him? You would never make a move though, not wanting to ruin your friendship. He did not like you that way, you were certain. He was just nice, that was his personality. He treated everyone like that.
“(Y/N)?“ Steve asked again. “Yeah, Steve, I heard you the first time.“ you said, trying to look at his face ,& not to his white towel, which was incredibly hard at that moment. Staring would make everything even weirder. “Trevor is having this big party tonight & he asked me to come.“ Steve looked into your (Y/E) eyes. Why did he tell you? It was not like you attended parties that often. He was someone who enjoyed these “college activities“ but you always got overwhelmed with big crowds. Steve knew this though. Usually, whenever someone had asked him to come to a party & you had told him you did not want to go, then he had always stayed with you at your room.
'Cause we could stay at home and watch the sunset But I can't help from asking, "Are you bored yet?" And if you're feeling lonely you should tell me Before this ends up as another memory Will you tell the truth so I don't have to lie? Will you tell the truth so I don't have to lie?
“Um…okay? And?“ confusion was written all over your face. What was his intention? The two of you made plans earlier, wanting to stay in to study together. “Well, I wanted to ask you if you wanna accompany me. Trevor would be fine with it, I’m sure.“ he scratched his neck, knowing damn well that you never were in a party mood. “Are you serious? I thought we’d study tonight? We have very important exams coming up, y’know.“ you tried reasoning. “I know, I know & I’m sorry but I canceled Trever so many times & he insists on me coming.“ Steve came a little closer, your eyes still focused on his. “Okay, then go? I’m not gonna force you to stay with me. Go & have some fun, we’ll study on another day.“ you tried to keep up your strong voice but deep down you were kind of disappointed. You were looking forward to tonight. Your late night study sessions always ended with extremely serious conversations & then with popcorn & a movie. “Nah…um, I actually want you to go with me. I really don’t wanna show up alone. Come on, please? Just this one time, I swear!“ he pleaded. Steve said he did not want to show up alone but in reality he just wanted to spend time with you & wanted to show you off. You guys were not a thing yet but every person saw that you were pretty close & assumed that you soon would be dating. Maybe you were just too oblivious to see it. “I haven’t been to a party in forever. I don’t even know if I have the right clothes. I don’t wanna look like an outsider.“ “You always look perfect, though.“ the second he said this, he started blushing. You did not realize & he continued. “I’m sure you’ll do just fine. Besides, I’m not gonna leave you there alone. We’re gonna stay together & if you wanna go back to our apartment, then I’m gonna go with you.“ you smiled at his words. Did he even know that his words affected you that way? Maybe he was being sincere & you were the only person who heard him say such cute words. On the other hand…was this not just his personality?
You agreed on accompanying Steve but only because of one reason. Tonight was finally the time you would confess your feelings for him. The party was in a few hours & Steve decided he would go back to the library for a while to start studying. He needed a bit more time to get everything into his head than you. “See ya!“ you screamed at Steve while he left your apartment. Enough time to make yourself look presentable for tonight. You wanted to impress him, to let him know you were this dressed up only because of him. Still, you could not exaggerate. Staying true to yourself was one of your priorities but you got this.
At first, you took a long shower, washing your hair. Stepping out, you dried yourself off with a towel.  For now, you stripped over one of Steve’s shirts. Sometimes, when he was not looking, you would go to his dresser & grab some shirts. He never cared too much, saying they looked better on you anyway. After the bathroom, you went over to your bedroom. Back then, Steve let you grab the bigger room because he knew how much you loved a lot of space. You sat down at your white dressing table. It was a mess, as always. You put makeup on every single day, there was no need for you to move the stuff back to its place. This way, you could find the needed products faster. You wanted to impress Steve, yeah, but you never went crazy with your makeup so you would do a tiny bit more than your daily look. It took you longer than usual, wanting to make everything as perfect as possible. In your eyes you succeeded. For your hair, you decided on (fav/hairstyle). The mirror showed your reflection & for once you were content with what you saw. Steve had come back by now but he did not want to bother you in your room. He simply went back to his own bedroom, deciding it would be time to get ready for the party himself. Now, you were standing in front of your closet, unsure of what you wanted to pick. You searched through everything but nothing seemed to fit. Great, what would you do now? Shortly before you wanted to give up & tell Steve you could not go, your eyes skimmed over a black dress at the back of your closet. You almost forgot about this one. Your hand grabbed the hanger & examined the dress. It was short but not too short. You had worn it once, when your mom went shopping with you & kind of forced you to try it on. She bought it for you, saying it would come in handy one day. Bless her, she was right. You stripped the black fabric on & went over to your floor-length mirror. The dress hugged your figure perfectly. You almost could not believe that the person in the mirror was you. A smile spread across your face. Tonight was your night.
“Sweetheart? It’s time. Trevor called me. He said there are already a bunch of people. Are you ready?“ Steve knocked at your door. He was not sure if he could come in or not so he stayed outside. He did not want to walk in on you changing or something. “A second!“ Steve heard your hurried steps. You grabbed your black shoes, put them on & walked over. Then you opened the door & he was shocked. He had seen you in dresses & all but this time? This felt different. You saw his stare & smiled at the floor, suddenly not sure if you looked good anymore. Steve answered your question before you could say anything. “Wow…You look…You look gorgeous. I mean, you always do but this, um, you know I-“ he stuttered. Did you just make him embarrassed? To stop him, you simply answered. “Thanks. You don’t look too bad yourself.“ you smirked & looked him up & down. He was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt, a pair of jeans & his go-to black vans. How did he look this good while literally wearing the most basic clothes on earth? “Ma’am?“ he faked an accent, holding out a hand for you to grab. You laughed at him, took his hand & let him lead you to his car. Trevor’s party was at his house, his parents were away on a business trip. Arriving at Steve’s car, he opened your door because, duh, he is a gentleman. All you could do was smile at him. The butterflies got more & more present. Stupid, stupid crush. You did not even noticed that Steve got in the car too, starting it & driving away. He was never the biggest fan alcohol & neither were you so you trusted him with driving. Shortly after, you came to a stop in front of a big house. Even though Trevor & you had been friends for some time now, you had never been to his home. You were impressed. Steve helped you out of the car but he did not stop holding your hand. He was the cutest. This had to mean something, right? As the two of you walked in, hand in hand, you could already smell the alcohol from everywhere. Looking around, you saw many people already being too drunk to realize a thing. It was barely 10 pm. That was one reason why you did not like parties. There were so many people, you were glad Steve was still holding your hand, otherwise you would have lost him. Where he was going? You did not know. Though he turned around, screaming something at you, you could not hear anything. The music was blasting way too loud. People really liked that? Suddenly you came to a stop. The music was a bit quieter, thank god, & Steve talked to someone. You looked over to find Trevor. As soon as he saw you, he took you in for a hug. Yeah, he had been drinking. He was not someone who would hug you. Nevermind, you still hugged him back. Trevor said how happy he was that you both could make it & that you should feel like home. Feeling like home? That was a bit hard with this crowd around but you tried. You looked over your shoulder for a second, thinking you heard someone say your name. Apparently you misheard someone because nobody was behind you. Turning back, Trevor was gone. Where did he go? It did not matter. At least you had Steve next to you still. You would literally die without him here.
“Hey, let’s head outside, yeah? Trevor said it’s more fun out there.“ Steve looked at you, letting go of your hand. Suddenly you felt cold. Why did he let go? “Um…sure.“ you followed him outside, making sure not to lose him. You were not sure anymore. Did he like you more than a friend? Maybe you were too embarrassing to show around at a party. He said he wanted you to come, right? You should not stress about it too much. Arriving outside, you could feel a cold breeze hitting your skin. It was quite nice though, fresh air. You could not help but feel a bit lost, even next to Steve. You went to grab his hand again, wanting to feel his comfort but as soon as your fingertips touched him he moved his hand into his pocket, avoiding your gaze. Was that a coincidence? Or did he not want to hold your hand anymore? You were confused & you frowned. Maybe tonight was not your night after all. You were lost in thought until someone bumped into you. “Ssssorry.“ a drunk male said, well…tried to, at least. You were glad he did not have a drink he spilled over you. Your dress, your look in general, was still intact. “No problem.“ you hoped he would just leave again. You definitely were not in the mood for this. As soon as you turned around to tell Steve you would like to leave you were shocked to not find him next to you anymore. Where was he? He promised you to stay with you the entire time. Great. Just great. Looking around, you tried finding him which was a bit hard because of the large crowd. He was not outside. Walking back inside, you tried finding someone you knew from your classes but without success. Trevor was not in sight either. You started panicking. Steve knew how much you despised this.
Feels like I've known you my whole life I can see right through your lies I don't know where we're going But I'd like to be by your side If you could tell me how you're feeling Maybe we'd get through this undefeated Holding on for so long
You had been looking for him for 30 minutes now. He did not pick up his phone & neither did he answer your texts. Deciding you would give it one more try, you started wandering around inside the house yet again. At the corner of your eye you saw a broad figure, a dark blue sweatshirt. Finally, you thought. You took a closer look. No, this could not be. This was Steve, locking lips with some bitch. Was he serious? Tears started welling up in your eyes. He wandered off to kiss a random girl? You thought you knew him well but apparently you were wrong. Steve tried fighting off the girl who just came at him & started kissing him. What the fuck? She obviously never heard of consent. He opened his eyes to push her away only to find you a few feet away from him, obviously upset. He could see your tears. No, no, no. By the time he managed to push the girl off & told her it was completely dumb what she just did because she was obviously drunk, you were already out of sight. Fuck, he lost you. Of course it looked like he was kissing her. He needed to explain himself but he could not find you anywhere. Your phone was not on, making it impossible for him to reach you. After seeing Steve kissing this girl, you started running. You did not want to cry but you were so angry at him & yourself. He saw you as a friend, that was it. Why could you not see this before? Before you even knew where your feet dragged you, you were stood in front of your apartment door. Did you just run the entire way back home? You were tired, you wanted nothing more than to take off your makeup & that stupid dress. Your bed was waiting for you. After ridding yourself from your shoes, makeup & dress, you threw on your pajama. You usually wore Steve’s shirt but tonight, you did not want to smell his cologne. All you wanted to do is put your blanket over your head & try to forget all that had happened. No matter how hard you tried, the tears kept streaming down your cheeks.
Steve searched the entire house & the garden for you but you where nowhere to be found. He knew how you acted at parties, especially when you where alone so he started to panic slightly. Trevor was in the entrance hall & Steve walked over to him. “Dude, hey! Why did (Y/N) leave earlier? I thought you drove her here?“ Trevor managed to speak out. He was done for tonight, that was sure. “Fuck.“ Steve whispered. “She ran outta the door? Did she say where she was heading?“ Steve’s heartbeat got faster & faster. He fucked up big time. “Yeah, sure, because she had the energy to talk to me while she was literally bawling her eyes out.“ Gosh, Trevor’s sarcasm when he was drunk was the worst. Steve wished he could slap him but there were more important things to do. You. The only thing that made sense to him was you running back to your shared apartment. Even though the both of you had been living there for two years, you still were not that familiar with the neighborhood. You would never run into the dark without knowing where to go. Steve was still sober, he got into his car & drove back home, hoping he would find you there. There was light radiating from your windows which meant that you where inside. Steve let out a sigh, his heartbeat slowly going back to normal. Now the only thing he had to do was explaining himself to you. He had to confess, otherwise you would think the absolute worst of him, if you did not already.
You did not hear the main door opening, too lost in your thoughts. Your tears had dried by now but you were exhausted. Falling asleep was not an option though, you were overthinking. A knock on your door startled you. “(Y/N).“ Steve whispered, leaning his forehead on your door. He closed his eyes, hoping you would answer. Hell, he would wake you if you were asleep already. His instinct told him that you were not but he did not get an answer either. Nevertheless, he slowly opened your door. You thought that if you kept silent he would go away again. There was no way you could face him right now. Steve knew you better than anyone. You were not sleeping so he walked over to your bed, sitting down at the edge of it. It was now or never. Steve’s hand moved to your blanket, pulling it off of you. His heart broke at your sight. You had been crying because of him. You were feeling like this because of him. Your eyes were open, looking up at him through your lashes.
'Cause we could stay at home and watch the sunset But I can't help from asking, "Are you bored yet?" And if you're feeling lonely you should tell me Before this ends up as another memory Will you tell the truth so I don't have to lie? (Yeah, oh) Will you tell the truth so I don't have to lie?
„Sweetheart?“ one of his hands started caressing your cheek & you were too tired to tell him to stop. “Please don’t sweetheart me. Not after what happened.“ your voice broke while trying to talk to him. You hated being so weak in front of him but you could not hide anymore. He had hurt you, a lot. “If you could just let me explain…“ “Go ahead then, it’ not like I should care, right?“ you slightly chuckled but Steve could hear the pain behind it. “I know you wanted to hold my hand back then. I only put it in my pocket because I didn’t want it to happen at a crappy party with drunk crackheads everywhere.“ that made you smile a bit so Steve continued. “I looked around for a nice, quiet place & then suddenly Dylan dragged me back inside even though I told him you were still outside. He told me it wouldn’t take long but I shouldn’t have trusted him.“ you rose up to sit in front of him, feeling a bit better. “It’s Dylan, what did you expect?“ you told Steve with a chuckle, an honest one this time. “You’re right…“ Steve chuckled. “Anyway, he simply wanted me to meet his new boyfriend aka a complete stranger he had met 2 hours prior. When I told him I need to head back to you I couldn’t find you anymore. So I assumed you went looking for me so I went looking for you. Now, sweetheart, I need you to look at me when I say this.“ he lifted your chin so your (Y/E) were locked on his blue ones. You nodded for him to continue. “Suddenly, this drunk girl came running at me, saying how much she missed me. She called me her boyfriend, Max, so I knew she was completely wasted. Before I could tell her that I am not her lost boyfriend, she started kissing me. She caught me off guard but as soon as I realized what was going on, I tried pushing her away. You had already seen me, though. (Y/N), I didn’t kiss her. Why would I ever kiss someone like her? I only wanna kiss one person & this someone is sitting right in front of me.“ he finished. Did he just? “W-What? Did yo-“ but before you could finish, Steve pulled you closer to him, putting his lips onto yours. You had dreamed for so long & it was finally happening. Steve & you were kissing each other & it felt like everything the two of you had ever imagined. As you broke apart to breath again, he kept staring into your eyes & rested his forehead against yours. “(Y/N), sweetheart, I love you, only you.“ his voice was barely above a whisper, making sure you were the only one who heard him even though it was just you two. Your eyes filled with tears again but this time because of pure happiness. It was your plan to confess to him tonight but who thought this night would end this way? “I love you too, Steve.“ you kissed him again, this time with more passion to let him know how long you had waited to do this. He stripped off his sweatshirt & jeans, leaving him in only his boxers. At first you were confused. What did he have in mind? But the second he laid down next to you, spooning you, you new what his intention was. He wanted to stay with you for the night & you were not complaining. Steve & you fell asleep, cuddling, relieved that this night, in the end, would be life-changing for the both of you.

You're Adas Roommate and She Falls in Love with You Part 2 (Modern Au)
Tumblr media
part one is here!
this woman makes me want to wet myself I'm no even kidding
you guys have never argued like this before
or really ever
just like that Ada is back to eating alone
she's not coming back to the smell of baking
its hard to explain to how much it hurts to hear you around the flat and know you're that but that you're both trying your hardest to avoid each other;
 you don't know what you've done wrong and you're upset that Ada doesn't seem to want to be mates with you anymore
Ada just feels so guilty about the whole situation that she can't even bring herself to speak to you
its a week and a but before Ada realises she has to do something
she buys your favourite flowers and plans on getting home and cooking you a big meal as an apology, hoping that somewhere in this baking fiasco she will be able to think of some way of explaining why she said what she said
but when she gets back the flat its just a bit too quiet
she waits around for you to get back in and when it starts getting dark she starts to worry
when she goes to the bathroom she notices your toothbrush is gone
its just little things, but all the bits you'd have in the flat that you used every day
it kinda dawns on her that you've gone and she just chucks all the food out and goes to cry on Polly shoulder
who wouldn't
i bet she gives great hugs
“what should i do Pol? do i call her?”
Polly sits and listens to all her scenarios of how to win you back, knowing that she will tell Ada just to give you your space
and obviously thats not the solution she wants to hear but for once in Polly’s  life a Shelby is actually gonna take her advice and not just do the complete opposite
with every passing day Ada gets less and less hopeful you'll come back
she was waiting on the text to tell her to just pack the rest of your stuff and leave it in the street for you
and tbh as much as it would hurt she’d do it for you if thats what you wanted because she would do anything for you
on day four though you were back
she's having breakfast and you just kinda pop through the door like
“hi, how y'all doin”
she's got no clue what to say to you at all
she hadn't rehearsed this scenario in her head
you shuffle over and give her a hug and she's like
wtf is happening
but then obviously she hugs back
“I'm sorry for whatever i did Ada i really am”
“you didn't do anything wrong it was all me”
girly happy tears hug
Ada is so happy to see you again
like she literally can't breath she's so happy
its been only like 5 days but still
and she never wants this hug to end
EVER!
she's just soaking in the feeling of your warm arms around her and the smell of your hair
the feeling of your face pressed into the side of her neck
having a movie night together to make up for all the time you guys missed eachother
5 days in lesbian time is like 2 years
you watch all the twilights. all of them.
bringing you quilts into the living room and cuddling on the sofa together
ada still feels a bit guilty about just how much her heart races when you guys cuddle but she's too happy you're back to think about that
playing with Adas hair like friends do until she falls asleep
its the best nights sleep Ada has had since you left
you start to notice Ada is acting a bit different? not bad just different
a lil weird
pulling polly aside and asking her if she had noticed anything
Polly putting on the best acting experience of her life and pretending she hadn't because the woman knows how to keep a secret
everything goes back to how it was before for a while but Ada doesn't really know how much longer she can keep this facade up for
she doesn't have to worry for long though
all the ladies are out for Esmes hen do
this hen do is just a massive piss up to be honest, the whole family love going a little too far
you all end up on the dance floor and Ada bumps into Freddie
who she hasn't seen in years
you're at the table and can see them dancing together so you ask the girls who he is
lizzie filling you in on their history together
distant history but still history
seeing how close he is to Ada makes you feel sick
is that his HaND On hEr AsS
meanwhile Ada is just enjoying a dance with an old mate, when all of a sudden you come out of nowhere with a grumpy face and grab her hand, pulling her out the club
polly watching this unfold like
everyone else is confused, especially Linda
woman doesn't believe god made lesbians
Lizzie, who has been theorising this outcome for months with her husband, is texting Tommy as we speak
“what was that all abo-”
Ada is pushed against the back door and KISSED
all that anger and jealousy makes for a horny reader (and writer I'm just saying)
Ada has literally no clue whats going on she just knows she's being kissed by her BABYGIRL OH HONEY
👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀 good shit go౦ԁ sHit👌 thats ✔ some good👌👌shit right👌👌there👌👌👌 right✔there ✔✔if i do ƽaү so my self 💯 i say so 💯 thats what im talking about right there right there (chorus: ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ) mMMMMᎷМ💯 👌👌 👌НO0ОଠOOOOOОଠଠOoooᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒ👌 👌👌 👌 💯 👌 👀 👀 👀 👌👌
ada kissing back
its passionate my dudes
lots of tongue and hands in hair
its all getting a bit too steamy when Ada pulls back, suddenly realising that this isn't some fantasy but actual reality
“I've wanted to do that for so long”
“you've wanted to do that for so long? Ive wanted to do that for so long!”
going back to your flat
not to have sex of course although
but to talk
falling asleep in each others arms again, but this time Ada doesn't have to feel guilty about being the only one who feels more from this than just friendship
Tumblr media
to be honest i could keep writing this forever, I'm planning on a smutty part 3 so if thats something you want let me know

Er, can you write a one shot of Kate and Eva almost breaking up and then not?
Let's pretend this didn't take almost two months-
Kate wasn't comfortable.
Her skin was crawling every second of every day, it felt too tight, she was drowning as she walked, trapped in her head.
And yet nothing changed. She went to class, she texted with the tigers, and she smiled and kissed Eva.
She didn't tell Eva.
It was fine, really. She was fine. She could handle this. And Eva was already busy with her own stuff, with her own classes and her own homework and her own life. In fact, Kate wasn't as big a part of her life as she had been - their colleges were an hour apart and while they tried to meet up every weekend, sometimes it just wasn't possible. And while they texted and Skyped, there were times when they went whole days and once three days without speaking. Not because they'd been fighting - they just didn't have time.
Kate still loved her, obviously. But she missed her. And she didn't get much time with her, and she definitely wasn't going to waste those precious moments with stupid worries.
So she drowned and smiled.
~~~~~
Eva was chipping away.
Every day, she smiled at her classmates, she answered questions correctly, always showing off a little bit, always appearing as perfect as possible.
She was perfect. The golden girl. The teacher's pet.
She wasn't breaking. She definitely wasn't broken. But she was tired. She barely slept, she barely ate, as everything, everyone, chipped away at her.
Sometimes, when she did manage to sleep, she'd dream that Kate was there, and wake up disappointed when she wasn't.
Those days, she always remembered to reach for her phone and text Kate a "good morning, love! ❤️". Other days, she'd get all the way to dinnertime before realizing she hadn't talked to her at all.
She missed her. She missed her so much. It hurt to be this far from her, to know that she wasn't going to see Kate every single day, see her smile and hear her laugh in person.
Last week, the anxiety had finally reached its peak, her bottle had overflown, and an even larger chip had fallen from her. She'd broken, cried and muffled screams and tried not to disturb anyone else and calm down before her roommate came home.
She hadn't called Kate.
It was the first time since before they'd started dating that she'd cried and not even shot her a text letting her know she wasn't okay. But she didn't today. It wasn't that her phone was dead, or she'd left it somewhere.
She didn't want to bother her.
Kate was already stressed. She was somewhere new and unfamiliar and struggling with her classes and had her own life, a life Eva was rapidly becoming a smaller part of.
Eva was chipping away, but she painted over her chips and smiled.
~~~~~
"Hey!" Eva slipped her hand into Kate's. "God, it's been way too long since I saw you."
Kate squeezed her hand and smiled. "I missed you."
"Come on, let's go for a walk, yeah?" Eva was already tugging her towards the sidewalk. "I've got so much pent up energy."
"Me, too. Moving around is hard in class and in small dorm rooms."
Even as they walked, Kate leaned against Eva's shoulder, trying to relax and enjoy being in the moment. Still, something felt a little bit off.
She wanted to enjoy being here with Eva. She really did. But last night she'd had a nightmare, a bad one, and hadn't told Eva, which hadn't happened since they'd started dating.
And it felt weird.
But Kate looked over at Eva, at her bright smile and glittering eyes, and thought I can't ruin this.
So she didn't say anything about the nightmare.
But she still thought about it.
A lot.
~~~~~
Eva had three homework assignments due tomorrow. She also had a project due Friday and an essay to draft. And as much as she liked being here with Kate, she kind of felt like she was slacking off on her schoolwork, like she was wasting time.
And Kate had never felt like that before.
Kate was her escape, her good thing, possibly the love of her life. She wasn't a waste of Eva's time.
She didn't like this feeling.
"V?"
Eva snapped out of her thoughts and turned to look at Kate. "Yeah?"
"Are- are you even listening to me?"
"Yeah, sorry, I'm just kinda... preoccupied, I guess. A lot of homework." Eva tried to laugh it off, but her stomach twisted at the hurt look in Kate's eyes.
"Oh." Kate looked down at her feet. "Sorry."
"No, don't be sorry-"
"If you have a lot of homework, you probably should prioritize that." Kate pulled her hand away and stepped back. "I probably should start that essay, anyways."
"Katie-"
"It's fine, seriously." Kate shrugged. "I get it."
"I want to hang out with you!"
"But you are and you're still thinking about school, so clearly it's not a good time." Kate stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and hugged herself.
"Kate, I do want to be here-"
"Are you sure? You're so busy, I don't want to annoy you." Kate's tone started to get harsh. "You've got so much on your plate already and I'm a mess and I take up so much of your time and-"
"Kate-"
"Eva, this whole an-hour-apart thing isn't working!"
It felt like the world stopped spinning as Eva tried to comprehend what Kate was saying. "What- you want to break up?"
Kate shrugged again. "I don't know. Maybe it's for the best."
"Katie-"
"Don't call me Katie."
Eva tried to control the tears threatening to spill. All around them, people had stopped and were staring at them, some subtly and some blatantly. Staring at the train wreck of a falling-apart couple. "Can we not argue about this on a public sidewalk?"
Kate clenched her jaw. "Fine. Let's go back to my dorm."
The walk back was tense and awkward, the two of them staying at least a foot apart at all times. Eva was trying to process the fact that they were probably going to break up, that she was going to lose Kate forever, when Kate unlocked the door.
"Kate, how long have you been thinking we're not working?" Eva asked as soon as the door was closed. "Because this doesn't seem proportional to what happened, this isn't a thought that just occurred to you-"
"Long-distance anything never works out, Eva," Kate said softly, leaning against the wall.
"We were making it work, I thought-"
"Eva, stop kidding yourself."
"Look, I thought we were fine and suddenly you want to break up-"
"It's not what I want, it's what's best for us-"
"And when do you get to decide that on your own-"
"You're not the first person to forget about me!" Kate exploded. "You're not the first person to say you'll stay and then leave me! Everyone leaves in the end, I shouldn't have told myself you'd stick around, so please, just go, before one of us gets hurt."
"What, you think I don't care about you? You think I don't fucking need you? You think you're not the goddamn love of my life, the best thing that ever happened to me?" Eva threw her hands in her air. "I love you so fucking much! Leaving you would hurt so much more than staying! And I don't know what's happening to us and I hope this isn't the end but if you really want to stay together, then we gotta figure this out and you gotta help me out here!" Too late, she realized she was crying.
"Eva-"
"I love you, Kate." Eva hugged herself and refused to meet Kate's eyes. "Please don't leave me."
"I-I had a nightmare last night." Kate's voice was so small and quiet, Eva could barely hear her, and her words shook like a leaf in the wind. "A bad one. You were there, and Chess was, and we-we went for a walk and then Riley was there and-" She held a hand to her mouth, but kept speaking, even as she started to shake with sobs. Somehow, Eva couldn't make herself move towards her, no matter how hard she tried. "She just kept stabbing, she got Chess and you and she just kept stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and there was so much blood-" Her voice broke, and finally Eva unfroze herself to put an arm around her. "I should've told you, I've been thinking about it all day-"
"Hey," Eva said softly. "Hey, I'm here, I'm okay, she's locked up and won't hurt either of us. It's gonna be okay."
"V-"
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry," Eva said a few times. "Fuck, Kate-"
"I should've told you-"
"And I should've told you about the breakdown I had the other day-"
"What?"
"I'm fine. Just stressed, it's okay."
"Eva." Kate looked up at Eva, her eyes full of worry and still brimming with tears. "Breakdowns aren't fine."
Eva shook her head. "I don't wanna talk about it. The point is, I'm so sorry I haven't been here for you."
"Me, too."
"Can we try a little harder to make this work?"
"Yeah."
"I love you. I love you so so much, you have no idea."
Kate strung her arms around Eva's shoulders and tucked her head against Eva's chest, right against her collarbone. "I love you too."
"We'll be okay."
"Yeah."
maggie i’ve been trying to suss out the plot of ur bug lesbians for so long please tell me abt them. somehow it got into my head that they were?? like jaeger pilots? please confirm or deny
i can’t do a read more on mobile so i’m sorry in advance (coming back here after i’ve written this: it makes no sense. it’s all rambling. sorry. and i just put things everywhere randomly so this won’t even be typed chronologically)
yeah there’s giant fun robots! most of them are normal and fine but like a few of them are very fucked up
so there’s four pov characters and at the start of the story three of them are on the same ship and the fourth is the target they’re chasing? only one of them knows they even HAVE a target and is trying her best to stall because she and the target were roommates in fucked up robot catholic school. the other two are playing crazy 8s and being romantic and also terrified all the time but also doing a lot of theorizing about things because they know SOMETHING is up they just don’t know what’s going on. Bc you know. their commander won’t give them any information. and also avoids them because she hates narrative parallelism
also the one stalling is also having her blood drunk by her giant robot. and maybe being mildly possessed by it? so it’s maybe The most fucked up robot. it’s also a giant dog and a good boy. and an heirloom of a fucked up family. which may explain some stuff but honestly i think nisa’s mom was just a bitch and it didn’t have anything to do with the robot she’s just like that.
and she’s stalling bc she Knows she won’t turn perovskia in she knows she wouldn’t let her get hurt she Knows it’ll change her life forever if she finds her and she’s just not ready to face that. but yknow she has to so it was all just very silly of her but when something will change your life dramatically it’s terrifying even if you know that things currently Suck.
somewhere in here Arkansas’s family is threatened and it’s. upsetting. and i’m not sure what direction to go in with it but it will be important because her family means a Lot to her. she has two very good kind dads and a little sister named Tinsel. basically she has the only functional biological family out of all the characters and they make me :’) I also think they eventually meet Idabel and ADORE her and since she grew up without parents it’s just a very strange and emotional experience and. h. they r Wives. and the Trust family is all very sweet and kind even if Arkansas struggles a lot w gifted kid syndrome like i think her dads did their best even if they fucked up sometimes yknow. idabel goes fucking wild at the arcade like legitimately bloodthirsty and arkansas is just like i love my furious and powerful wife
anyway there’s some (a lot of) homoerotic space fighting (which perovskia usually wins BECAUSE she remembers when she and nisa used to spar and can predict what she’ll do. nisa ALSO remembers this bc. ofc she does. but perovskia had to learn how to adapt after Events bc her physical health changed a lot and she had to learn to be more careful about overexerting herself and also now knows how to swordfight. and moves more fluidly and confidently. so what nisa expects to happen often doesn’t bc perovskia’s fighting style has changed so much while nisa hasn’t really bothered to refine hers. anyway) perovskia (the gay little target that does a gay little crime and makes fun of you to piss you off) is like hey. what if you all committed treason it’s really fun and sexy. and then her adoptive mechanic mom gives everyone spinal surgery so their bodies don’t shut down and they won’t die :) that’s a thing by the way i won’t elaborate bc uhh :( but it is why perovskia has all the. nerve damage and chronic pain. i can elaborate on the actual Pre-story perovskia stuff later bc i think about it A Lot and it has a lot of bearing on her character but it’s also. before all this. but anyway if she hadn’t been bleeding out on Slice’s front lawn specifically she Would be dead. and there’s some fun narrative foil character shifts that happen four years before the main storyline but i will not say bc i’m tired
after this is Vague in my mind but a lot of it is Perovskia and Nisa reconnecting and just. talking. but being weird and repressed and deflective about anything Meaningful. And I have written a Lot about this so there’s more than I can condense but it’s very fucking good and. Idk. it’s a big shift in the narrative at this point and they’re just Agonizing about their dumb little feelings and it’s good. and P doing some work to make their giant fucking spaceship more stealthy. and Idabel and Arkansas being really cute and also going THROUGH it because i mean. a lot is happening. And it’s nothing either of them ever expected to happen but they’re like. hopeful for the future or whatever don’t look at me. It’s just like. put all of these characters on a spaceship in the middle of nowhere in transit and they all Have to have conversations even if they don’t want to because it’s HARD. nisa is forced by slice to learn how to make pancakes
Slice makes stew. They’re good at stew and contraptions and having a mild new england accent somehow. also canonically back in the scrapyard they would make things like the knife wielding tentacle constantly and perovskia would just stumble upon them. slice changed the live laugh love sign to say die cry hate because perovskia made fun of it. they r her mom.
so now they do some fun fun robberies and various crimes and it’s so sexy and i don’t think N and P are like. fully caught up at this point or know where they stand, so there’s a lot of very fun banter and having to work together despite really being afraid but also yearning to get to know each other again and just connect with one another honestly and openly after four fuckin years apart. because they’re both so different now but also very much the same. horse staring out into sea MAN. the thing is there’s no direct like. reason for them to avoid each other (at first P was shocked and overwhelmed and felt a little bit betrayed when she found out who was chasing her until she found out WHY. oh i forgot to mention Nisa BEGGED to be assigned commander for this mission bc she knew anyone else wouldn’t hesitate to get Perovskia killed. Forgot to mention that it’s IMPORTANT she fucking loves her so much god DAMMIT) but it’s just. tense and there’s a lot happening and it’s just. Ghhhdhbnm and ofc I and A have picked up on it since P showed up but it’s like. ok so what is Happening here. OH AND ONCE THEY START WORKING THINGS OUT IDABEL DOES START BEHAVING LIKE NISA’S SHITTY LITTLE SIBLING AND ACTING FUCKING DISGUSTED BY THEM ITS VERY FUNNY. they’re like perovskia you’re pretty cool what’s up with this. nisa sucks and also is a bitch. and perovskia says SHE CAN GET IT. and idabel says GET WHAT? BANNED FROM OLIVE GARDEN? and perovskia fans herself and is like yeah~ and idabel was just joking around but now is debating between mercilessly making fun of her and hitting her with a cricket bat. but god when P and N just get to hold each other in silence and security and just be. it’s . they. god. fuck. man.
oh i know this is a space story but perovskia just straight up has a sword (and some knives and maybe a gun idk) don’t ask me why idk but it’s very lesbian of her and she does gay little flourishes and is just. very annoying and i like her a lot. she’s very dramatic like her alias was madame revenant when she was living in the scrapyard and just doing some petty crimes like. she embroidered that jacket herself nobody calls her that she’s just a goofball. also warrior cats exist and she makes warrior cat fan animations. that just has to be true so warriors has been preserved for centuries. also she was presumed dead for a while uhh don’t think abt it too much but she likes that aesthetic.
Idabel takes the best to this new life of crime they are fucking FOR it she gets a FLAMETHROWER and Arkansas is like. wrow honestly my favorite thing abt them is that they’re both fucking INCREDIBLE pilots. like they know what they’re doing. and nisa is really really bad at it btw she cannot pilot a mech well. but this block of text isn’t about her i’m talking about THEM. Their chemistry is so good they r just. 🥺. and they both become Fast friends with perovskia because she’s just pretty likeable?? and ofc nisa’s jealous bc a) you guys don’t even like me :( but also b) that’s MY friend. it’s very funny. honey of course they didn’t like you you were being very unpleasant to be around. but arkansas does rlly wanna be friends with her and she and idabel have so much sibling energy it’s insane. i think they’d abel and cain each other for a scooby snack but also kill for each other. because they’re tiny girls who will growl at you solidarity and also probably hang out and just destroy things with bats sometimes. they all become closer and get a rlly sweet found family dynamic it just takes a While. oh also idabel is basically the chosen one and can set things on fire with her hands but it’s barely touched on because i think that’s a really funny thing to just ignore. but i also think it does become important because it’s largely fueled by anger and emotion and. h. i think idabel has a lot of feelings ok. Arkansas and Perovskia bond over having fucking anxiety disorders and have caprisun drinking competitions. i think it’s just like. these people all have similar trauma and need people to lean on when things are hard so they stick with each other once they have the option to split apart because by then they’re friends and work well together and Care. auto tuned baby crying mp3.
Alia and Agent Variety show up somewhere around here? They’re Slice’s very cool wives and Alia has a Vechicle Collection and own fucking stupid race cars and stuff and I love her. perovskia is afraid of being in vechiles so she has to take a fucking benadryl every time they have to make a getaway. Variety isn’t actually an Agent anymore and I also love HER because she’s very fucking good. they started out as just contacts slice had but it turns out they’re all in love <3 alia is also actually a sports car racer like. unprofessionally. illegally. which is just very cool of them.
Also i don’t think it has. a very BIG end, yknow? it’s like, they’re doing very good things and are up against a lot, and I don’t think they like.. singlehandedly take down the government or anything because they’re only a few people. but i think they get a happy ending and get to grow old while making positive changes to the world around them. like i don’t think they’ll be able to solve everything but they’re sure as hell gonna do what they can. But idk maybe they actually do get like. some good shit done. but again they’re not. an army. they’re a bunch of 20-somethings and their rube-goldberg-machine-creating chaperone. but i think they should get a fun climactic moment so i guess this is all to say i don’t. have an ending planned. but there should probably be one at some point.
OH AND the giant evil blood sucking dog vineyard vines robot Definitely almost kills Nisa (or at least fully destroys her in some way) and. it’s very narrowly avoided and she’s very very weak for a while because it took a lot out of her. also the dog robot does make grape vines grow and uhhhh any grapes that show up are 100% full of the pilot’s siphoned blood. also i think there’s still some remnants of that bitch in nisa’s mind afterwards bc an old mechanical god is hard to get rid of. but it’s mostly ok.
Also the bug people are just. a thing. like every person in the most recent generation in this specific society are at least a little bit genetically experimented on because. it sucks there. and i think if your parents bribe the government you can be a little Less fucked up but yknow. everyone’s a little weird. this was an excuse to put bug ppl in here they’re just the folks who were probably the most fucked with and i have many bug people here because i think bugs are cool and i want them to look like weird little bugs. This was all also an excuse to give the main characters fangs bc i’m gay. i don’t think randomly fucking with your genetics will make you a bug in real life so do not try this at home or at all PSA
SPEAKING of the society ok it’s very much obsessed with earth nostalgia and stuff and very yknow. basic cyperpunk shitty capitalism you know the drill you’ve seen space operas whatever but it’s also weirdly oligarchical? and like? it’s weird and bad and kind of a corporatocracy?? and. fuck. idk man they’re a fucked up space catgirl greeble-y amazon with catholic imagery. The Academy is also a thing but. idk how to describe it more than i already have it’s just kinda shitty boarding school. And after a certain point ppl can get sent on like. missions and stuff? in their fucking robots? but again i’m not sure what For. an option could be that there’s nearby Shit and nobody can tell if it’s safe because space is weird? also it’s only about 3200 so i’d say like. whole societies out in space is a relatively new thing and there’s some weird shit going on. so they sometimes send teenagers out in robots to see what’s up and that ends SUPER well for EVERYONE. hmm something SHOULD be going on actually there should be some weird eldritch space stuff. it should be connected to the more fucked up robots. it should also be Core’s fault somehow because uhhh capitalism and lack of foresight? anyway here’s women kissing i don’t know things. WAIT FUCK I FORGOT TO MENTION HOW SHADY SOME OF THE STUFF GOING ON IS LIKE THE DEATHS OF THE CREW PEROVSKIA WAS ON UHHH JUST TRUST ME DUDE like they are NOT afraid to get kids killed which was IMPLIED but also like it goes a little deeper than that and uhh i don’t know exactly what’s happening. but i’m sure it’ll all fall into place eventually. basically it’s very fatt shitty faction vibes idk how else to describe it. man it‘s like. just. there’s stuff happening they have goals and ideals and there’s probably more to it than i know so far bc stuff happens but i don’t KNOW what i’m tired and have been typing this for a year i don’t want to talk abt the bad capitalists i want to talk about tenderness and girls but unfortunately the ways in which the girls are tender are deeply informed by the environment they grew up in so i do have to think about it even if they all deserved better.
i think they all get a cat or a dog or something eventually. like they all deserve it. i think the final home they build together is actually pretty reminiscent of the scrapyard house. i think they get to live there for the rest of their lives and. just build something small and wonderful for themselves :’)
also i forgot to put men in the story they exist i just forgot about them. there’s nisa’s one ex i already forgot his name but he’s mentioned i think.
Got any Shant headcannons? I've seen that ship floating around a bit and it seems cute
Shant is, for anyone wondering, the name of the crackship between Shad and (a good guy) Zant, the origins of which I go over somewhat loosely in this post.  Of all my TP ships, it is the most ridiculous, but alas, I am jester and this is my court.  So!  Some headcanons, shall we?
When Zant first moves in with Shad (more on that here, what I’m about to say was more or less covered in that post too), he spends most of his time cooped up in his room with the door shut tight, feeling very out of place amidst Hyrule and its denizens.  Whenever he does leave his room, he consistently refers to Shad as “the purple one” and “the scholar” in a Supremely Jackass Move to Top All Jackasses, but despite his stubborn refusal to try and acclimate to his new surroundings, Shad’s continued respect of his boundaries and patience throughout the whole thing is what makes Zant realize that maybe living in Hyrule won’t completely suck.
This went on for months, during which time Shad spent a lot of time reporting back to Zelda on what the dude was up to (Zant was entirely aware of this, he has his past looming over him, after all) and lamenting his inability to connect with him in any meaningful way, as that was entirely the reason he agreed to let Zant move in with him to begin with.  Eventually, he gets the idea to try something new - maybe he spends some time with Midna, learning all there is to learn about the Twilight Realm, so he can help Zant feel more at home - and this is the tipping point that makes Zant apologize for his Supreme Jackassery, in a very brief but genuine moment where Zant calls him by his actual name for the very first time (Shad is caught extremely off-guard by this).  Yippee!
Here’s the thing about Zant: he Does Not Like to Be Touched.  At all.  There are very few exceptions to this rule, but it’s mostly a sensory thing.  So it’s pretty significant that, after the two start spending actual time together (mostly spent around books, Zant pointing at a picture of a cow in a children’s story and going “what the f**k is this,” stuff like that) and, one night, Shad asks if it’s okay for him to reach up and touch his face...that Zant says yes.  And here’s where the dam really bursts open; Shad is just so, so interested in everything about him, his eyes, his runes, the shape of his body... It’s the first moment of closeness they really have, and even though Zant is a little overwhelmed (and embarrassed) by all of his questions, he’s also kind of...warmed?  By them.
Not long after this, Shad convinces Zant to try eating for the very first time (there is no food in the Twilight Realm), which Zant really only does to make Shad happy, because that slop looks nasty and gross!  ...And most of it is, except...it turns out the dude has a bit of a sweet tooth.  So he gets into baking.  Hard.  Cookies.  Pastries.  Cakes.  Pies.  Brownies. Those little breakfast croissants that have chocolate chips in them. He dedicates so much of his time to it that Shad’s place is littered with the stuff, and Shad doesn’t really like sweets at all but still tries everything Zant makes because he can tell Zant wants him to.  In the end, it’s less about Zant liking sweets or any of the actual food itself than it is about Zant finding something new and hyperfocusing on it as his One Real Anchor on getting a grip with life in Hyrule, which Shad is aware and is very appreciative of.
(Zant still doesn’t really wind up eating that often, but any time he does, it’s gotta have a shit ton of sugar.  And, like, the dude actually got really good at baking.  When he sets his sights on something, he really goes for it.)
Zant helping Shad sort through old texts and uncovering new shit together, Shad helping Zant feel comfortable enough to walk through the streets of Castle Town at night (sunlight makes him uneasy), Zant noticing Shad’s glasses are dirty so he takes and cleans them before leaning over and gently placing them back on his face, Shad being in awe every time Zant uses magic to do literally anything
blah blah blah they open a library blah
Their relationship isn’t exactly one I would define as explicitly romantic (probably hovering somewhere between romantic and queerplatonic, as Zant has never been interested in anyone at all), but despite it never being discussed between the two of them, they are unequivocally Together, insomuch as they have no interest in Being With anyone else.  It’s weird, what they have, but that’s good!  Weird is good, yeah?
BONUS: Ashei and Shad are still very much two disaster gay BFFs in this scenario and she and Zant have to learn to occupy the same space every now and again which is INCREDIBLY funny because they’re both very Bad at Talking and just being around people in general (imagine, like, they’re trying to have a conversation comprised entirely of one word sentences.  It is Not Going Well).
In summation, and I know I’ve said this before, but again: And They Were Roommates (Oh My God They Were Roommates)™
Chapter 2 - Together
Yoongi X Reader
Warnings: Language, Implied Racism?? (just in case)
Thank you as always for your patience. Battling anxiety and writer’s block is not easy but I made it through! These chapters may become shorter so that they are easier to read and more frequent. Thanks <3.
Thanksgiving Break.
Cars roll up to dormitories, some carrying friends, others parents who have made the drive to see their beloved children and take them home for a hot dinner. Within a few hours most of the campus is abandoned. Dorms stand clean, vacant and locked. The cafeteria prepares its last late lunch before closing down its services. Those staying on campus for one reason or another have their fridges stocked for the next twenty four hours for their own small celebrations.
Tucked away in one of the dorms’ bedrooms, Min Yoongi shoves various black pieces of clothing into his duffle bag. Unlike his fellow dorm mates roaring with delight in the hallways, Yoongi is less than thrilled.
To start, he had no idea the Thanksgiving break existed, let alone Thanksgiving. Call him air-headed or ignorant, but Yoongi preferred the term focused. So hyper focused that he could miss big details around him like a national holiday that shut down every school in the country.
With one hand Yoongi presses down his clothing, while the other attempts to zip up his bag bit by bit. Biceps flexing and knuckles protruding, Yoongi leans all his weight into the bag until it finally shuts with a satisfactory zip.
He releases a huge sigh and turns to his empty backpack. He still has to pack his music equipment. It’s nothing fancy like he has back in Korea, but a small portable keyboard, laptop, headphones, and launch pad.
But for now he’s hungry and if he doesn’t hurry Hoseok will raid the pantry and steal his portion of snacks. On his way to the kitchen, Yoongi slams the door closed to their dorm, effectively muting the rowdy men in the halls. One he swears is Kim Seokjin cursing out his roommate for spilling a beer.
“You packed and ready to go?” Hoseok asks from where he stands in front of the pantry doing exactly what Yoongi feared. The shorter boy walks up behind him and hip checks Hoseok out the way. Hoseok allows it and easily reaches over Yoongi’s head.
“Yeah for the most part.” Yoongi mutters, sliding an arm into the shelf and hugging all his snacks at once to his chest.
A pack of Cheetos drops and both boys glance down at it. Hoseok swoops down and picks it up, offering it to Yoongi.
“Keep it.” Yoongi says, turning to head back to his room.
“Alright, Yoon, not so fast.” Hoseok tugs on Yoongi’s shoulder but it doesn’t deter the solemn man from heading back to his bedroom. Hoseok follows on his heels, trying to gauge his roommate’s mood.
“You never let me have your snacks. What’s wrong?” He asks, tossing the Cheetos on Yoongi’s bed and then going over to hop onto his. Hoseok was an efficient, clean person - most of the time. The past weeks had gotten a tad hairy but Hoseok made up for it by deep cleaning their dorm until it smelled of lemon and Clorox. As such Hoseok was packed and waiting for his ride two hours in advance, giving him ample time to figure out what had his roommate so down.
Lying back and tucking his hands behind his head, Hoseok watches Yoongi find places for his snacks to go around the equipment he puts into the backpack.
After another minute of silence, Hoseok is about to ask again when Yoongi finally responds.
“I’m going with Y/N to her house.”
“No shit, really? You excited, bro? That’s practically an invitation to-”
“No, it isn’t.” Yoongi shoots Hoseok a glare hard enough to make him swallow the rest of his sentence.
“Then why are you going?”
“She invited me.”
“And you want to go?”
“I don’t have a choice. They’re closing down the school.”
“You could stay if you really wanted to. But you’re not. You’re going to Y/N’s house and celebrating Thanksgiving with her family. “
“Yeah.”  Yoongi exhales, sending the word out between shaky lips. Hoseok narrows his eyebrows, then sits up to see if Yoongi truly looks as terrified as he sounds.
“Yoongi.” He calls and slowly, Yoongi turns to meet Hoseok’s eyes.
“You’re freaking out aren’t you? Don't worry. I’m sure Y/N’s family is as sweet as she is.”
“I’ve never been to an American house before.” Yoongi admits. He sits down on the edge of his bed and drops his face into his hands.
Hoseok hums, reaching across the few feet of space between their beds and taking Yoongi’s hand in his own.
“Okay, but Americans are not some alien species. They’re normal people like us and once you get there you’ll have fun with them. Especially if Y/N’s there with you.”
“Are you sure?” Yoongi lifts his head, sending his friend an incredulous look. “I have yet to see normal behavior from them.”
Hoseok wrinkles his brow, then bursts into laughter as realization dawns.
“Yoongi! Trust me! I’ve been here two years alright? I lived with an American family last year and they were the coolest people I have ever met. You’re freaking yourself out over something that’s not a big deal. We come from different cultures, but so what? At the end of the day we’re all human and we all like to eat.”
“You sound like Y/N.” Yoongi groans, rubbing his face in anxiety.
“Hyung, listen.” Hoseok’s tone becomes serious as he searches for Yoongi’s eyes. “You will be fine. Y/N wouldn’t take you with her if she thought you wouldn’t enjoy it. And if you get uncomfortable just tell her. I can’t imagine she would get offended.”
“I’m not doing that.” Yoongi frowns, lifting his reddened face from his relentless palms. His lower lip juts out and his cheek are round and flushed.
“Ah, hyung. Then just stay on campus.” Hoseok gives up, falling backwards onto the bed and releasing a groan.
“N-no. I want to go.” Yoongi mumbles. His heart is thudding in his chest and his palms are clammy, but no matter how terrified he is of your family, Yoongi knew he didn’t want to mope around his empty dorm for five days.
He knows he would be miserable spending the holiday alone, because his attitude has already changed since meeting you. Much to his disliking. The first few weeks of school Yoongi refused to leave his dorm, not even for Hoseok. He liked having the dorm to work on his music without disruption.
But then he met you. Smiling, laughing, sweetheart you. Someone who promised to help him pass his English tests. Someone who forced him out to a cafe once a week in order to study. Someone who tried his coffee even though she didn’t like the black taste of it. Someone who was gentle when he stuttered. Someone who trusted him enough to fall asleep on her books in public.
And somewhere along the way Yoongi suddenly found himself looking forward to the cafe sessions every Thursday. Now whenever he was alone he missed having you around to fill the silence. He spent hours looking up unique coffee flavors to win you over instead of working on the next bar of his latest song. Instead of glaring and refusing to speak, Yoongi laughed with you whenever he mispronounced a word. Never having been one to initiate conversations, now he couldn’t help but tease you just to earn your pretty eyes on him again and again. To hear you say his name felt like he was the most beautiful Korean word you had learned.
Yoongi chews on his lip, his eyes coming back into focus as he picks up on Hoseok’s humming while texting away on his phone. Hoseok was used to these sessions where yoongi would temporarily leave the planet and be lost in the recesses of his mind. As if it was second nature Hoseok drops his phone on his stomach and looks over at Yoongi.
“So you’re going?”
“I’m going.”
----- “Hey Yoongi!” You wave across the parking lot causing the older man to blush and look down at the sidewalk. Hearing your rapid footsteps he comes to a stop, meeting your excited eyes with his one apprehensive ones.
“Are you ready? Is this all your stuff? Do you need help carrying anything?” You fire questions at him making him widen his eyes at the near foreign words flying from your chapped lips.
“I’m all right.” He answers after processing the words.
“Hey, that’s English! We’re not even studying. Wow, you must have an amazing teacher.” You wink and laugh. Yoongi just smiles, overwhelmed by this new side of you that is clearly excited for this Thanksgiving holiday.
“Are you ready?” Yoongi asks following you back to your little grey sedan. You nod several times while popping open the trunk for him to place his duffel bag and backpack in beside your luggage.
“I’ve been waiting for Thanksgiving break for years.” You drag out the last word and slam the trunk closed.
“I can’t wait for you to meet my family, Yoongi.” You send him a heart-stopping smile before digging your keys out your pocket and sliding into the front seat.
Yoongi swallows. He doesn’t want to take away from your excitement but to say the feelings were mutual would be far from the tight ball of nerves currently wrapping around Yoongi’s throat.
Getting in and closing his passenger door with a thud, Yoongi leans back against the seat and slides his hands down his black jeans. He shifts his legs together than apart and tries to figure out what to do with his arms.
Why am I so weird? Just stop moving and sit still. Yoongi berates and shifts again until you flick on the radio distracting him from his attempt at not being awkward.
The first few minutes of the drive pass in silence. Trees blur into one another as you speed up, heading towards the highway.
“Do you care if we get some snacks?” You ask, breaking the silence with a glance Yoongi’s way.
He nods knowing full well his backpack is stuffed with snacks. Hoseok even gave him a parting gift of some Haribo gummy bears to wish him good luck.
“Great, let’s stop here.” You say and turn into a bright yellow gas station.
Just say you already have snacks in your bag, idiot. Save some money.
But she might not like them. They’re mostly Korean junk food.
Just ask and see what she says.
Who am I to deny her? She wants snacks. We get snacks. Yoongi ends his internal debate by slamming the car door closed and follows you into the convenience store.
Although having been in America for a semester now, Yoongi never grew tired of how many Americans snacks there were in your average store. All the rainbow advertisements and family sized packaging blew him away and was the reason he fell into an obsession of hoarding chips, Cheetos, and candy from his roommate.
You split up heading towards the bathroom while Yoongi walks down the candy aisle. After picking up some Twizzlers, he turns the corner and finds a familiar blue package of chocolate cookies. He grabs it and purses his lips, sounding out the word.
“Oh ree oh….Oreo!” Lighting up with recognition, Yoongi chuckles, grabbing two packs of the sweet cookies. If there was anything he had learned in this country, it was oreos were fucking cocaine to college students.
Even if I can’t finish all of these, I can always sell them. He reasons while grabbing a third pack.
“Hey, what’d you find?” You grin, back from the bathroom, and Yoongi grins back, unabashed by the amount of food in his arms. “You know my family will feed you right?”
Yoongi recognizes your teasing tone and rolls his eyes.
“Olee- Oh ree oh.” Yoongi grins.
“They’re good!” You agree, taking some from his arms.
“Fuck yeah.”
You burst into laughter, walking ahead of him to the counter. “Yoongi, I swear the only English you’ve learned how to say correctly are curse words.” You grab some things along the way for yourself and set them on the counter.
“Oh wait! I want to grab some gummy bears for my sister!” You turn on your heel and take off towards the candy section.
“I have gummy bears!” Yoongi calls after you, but you must not understand him as you disappear around the bend.
Turning back to the counter, Yoongi spots a bell and rings it. The cashier, an older man with slumped shoulders and bags under his eyes swings the backroom door open. He eyes Yoongi up and down before shuffling forward to sit down at the cash register.
Silently, he starts ringing Yoongi’s snacks up while Yoongi pushes the items within the man’s reach.
Yoongi glances towards the candy section where you disappeared to. The man is almost done ringing up his things. He hasn’t so much as spared a glance towards him, but he might ask a question Yoongi doesn’t know the answer to.
Please hurry up. He bites his lip as the cashier meets Yoongi’s eyes for the first time. He must look a nervous wreck because the cashier raises his eyebrow for a tenth of a second before sliding his gaze into neutral once more.
“Ten ninety five.” The man clears his throat.
Yoongi swallows thickly, and pulls out his wallet from his back pocket. Separating the green bills he searches for the correct number, praying you’re on your way back before he has to hand over the money.
Alas, you are still nowhere to be seen as Yoongi picks out a ten and picks out a five dollar bill - just to be safe - and places it on the counter.
“I said ten ninety five.” The man says. Lightning courses through Yoongi’s veins.
Shit! I got it wrong. Before he can grab the money back the cashier sweeps up the cash, muttering something under his breath.
“Hey, sorry. I found them.” You sigh, placing your hand on Yoongi’s shoulder and reaching before him to drop the candy.
“You have to wait your turn.” The cashier rests his hand on the open drawer, staring at you.
“Oh, no we’re together.” You respond, offering a polite smile.
“You’re with him?” The man states it like it’s a warning, causing your smile to fall.
Yoongi glances between you two, trying to figure out what the problem was. Or why your hand - which he was still processing as being on his shoulder - was now clenching his bicep.
I’m studying harder this break. He chews on his lip, sensing the tension between you and the cashier. His heart begins to pound, hands growing moist.
“Yeah. We are.” You state in the same tone the cashier used with you. Stepping closer to Yoongi, you hook an arm around him and send the man a look. “Thanks.”
Yoongi’s face blooms and he grows stiff, his entire mind focused on the fact that you were touching him, holding his arm against your side like it would be ripped away from you otherwise.
“To each his own I guess.” The cashier mumbles, sliding the receipt back over and unhooking the plastic bag to hand over the counter.
“Yup.” You respond curtly, turning with Yoongi on your arm and leaving the store.
He follows you numbly to the car, not realizing your speaking to him until he feels a sharp poke to his side.
“Yoongi? Are you alright?”
“Hm? Yeah.” He blinks, watching you toss the snacks in the back and then get into the car. He follows suit and pulls the seatbelt across his chest.
“I’m sorry about in there. I can’t believe he asked that.”
“What happened?” Yoongi asks softly, blushing with the lack of knowledge he possessed in order to help you.
“Oh, you didn’t understand him? Well that’s for the best then.  It wasn’t a big deal. He...he just assumed something.”
“Assumed?”
“Guessed wrongly.”
After a moment of silence, letting you concentrate on merging onto the highway, Yoongi turns to you once again.
“Together. What does it mean?”
“Together?” Yoongi frowns watching your cheeks color.
Now he was more confused than before. Did the cashier insult you in some way? He himself be damned, if that man said anything to upset you Yoongi swears he will find the location of that gas station and teach the man a thing or two - in Korean.
“I-It just means...like...you know...we stay with each other.” You wrinkle your brow and your knuckles tighten around the steering wheel.
“Me and you. We are together?” He asks for clarification. In return he gets an even deeper shade of red on your face. You lick your lips, curling them into your mouth.
“Yeah...we are.” you hesitate and Yoongi watches amused. “As friends.”
“Together. Friends.” He sighs satisfied with your explanation. Yoongi closes his eyes and leans back against the headrest.
“Yeah. Friends.” You repeat in a voice so soft,  Yoongi barely catches the words as he drifts off.
“Would you hang out with me, KyKy?”
The message left a cheerful sound hanging in the air, long, long after it was received. And the receiver – KyKy – did not know what to do with it.
This must be the way a guy asks a girl out, KyKy thought to herself. She had a crush on someone, but that was way back in her high school. Thinking back to those days, it was just admiration mistaken as love.
But this time, it was different.
“Did the thought suddenly come to your mind, Kazama?” She decided to reply after a while.
Of course, KyKy believed in love. She felt happy for the people around her whenever they came to her and said that they had found love. She had always thought there was somebody out there for her too. She had dreamt about it so often. But as she grew older and had her heart broken several times, she decided that it was a waste of time and energy to give someone all her love.
But this guy, he was different.
“No. I had a dream of you last night. I should visit the one in my dream after I wake up.”
Typical sweet talk; as expected from such a famous host. KyKy could not help but to smile at her phone. Kazama always knew how to talk, sugar-coated his words and poured them into ladies’ hearts. After her mission to Japan, she had a chance to meet him. She was so curious about his job as a host, so she went to the club and observed. She never expected to have an offer to be his guest, by himself! The top host Ruri Kazama! And she did not have to pay a yen! All was free of charge, because she had helped him with this riddle in a Chinese restaurant near his kabukicho.
But since then, they had not had a real date. Due to her busy schedules at Cassell College, and neither was he an idle man, they would casually text and talk through the phone, like this.
KyKy was rather surprised, that Kazama would actually ask her out. Before she could send her reply, there was already a new message.
“I want to meet you so I’m asking you out. That’s the real reason. So, would you hang out with me?”
He was straightforward, and sounded a bit impatient. It was unlike the usual Kazama. Did he want to see her that much?
KyKy placed a hand on her chest, calming her heart down while replying:
“If that’s the case…” And inserted a blushing sticker to the text, “Where do you want to go?”
“I’ll be happy as long as it’s with you. Actually, who I am going with is more important than the destination, right?”
KyKy’s face turned red, even brighter than the sunset of that day in Cassell dormitory. She hid her face under a soft pillow and rolled back and forth in her own bed. The scene was caught by Cery, her roommate, who had just returned from a training session with her junior.
Cery shook her head and chuckled while passing the open door of KyKy’s bedroom. She knew too well that there was only one person in this world who could make KyKy being so weird like this.
As for KyKy; still under the pillow, blushing; she could not stop the grin on her face as she texted back to Kazama.
“Agreed. Otherwise, I’d rather travel alone. But we still need a destination, so we won’t be wandering…”
“True that.”
“So, where should we go?”
“Got anything in your mind, KyKy?”
KyKy sat up from her bed and became serious with this matter. Kazama was asking her to choose the destination of their date, if she may call it so. This was a very important task. She did not know much about dating and stuffs; it had been so long since she had a date. She was afraid that she’d bore Kazama.
KyKy turned on her laptop and surfed the webs for all the romantic destinations. But she was not content with them. They were either too crowded or too… common. She wanted their very first date to be special. It had to be a special place.
So she went to Cery for advice.
“Hey, Cery. Where is a nice place for a date?”
“Holy dragons!” Cery jumped and screamed in the shower, “Don’t you know that I’m taking a shower here?”
“Yes, I know.” KyKy said with an apologetic face. “But this is urgent!”
“Dragons are attacking Cassell?” Cery asked in an angry tone.
“No…”
“Principal Anjou’s sending us to a secret mission that involes Japanese mafia gangs and their drama again?”
“No…”
“Johann Chu’s calling me to another training session?!” This time, Cery peeked out from the curtain of the shower. Her head was still covered in white soap, but her eyes dashed quickly around the room, as if Johann could appear any minute and drag her out to training.
“No.” KyKy sighed softly. “Like I just said… I’m looking for a nice place for a date…”
“Of all people, KyKy… Why would you ask someone who has never gone on a date?!”
Cery seemed to be furious. KyKy tried to calm her down with a smile.
“Oh, actually… you don’t need to have a date to know about the romantic stuffs…”
Cery eyed the phone on KyKy’s hand and raised a brow.
“Okay, tell me who is it? Is it the one I’m thinking…”
“Y-You…” KyKy blushed. “You haven’t answered my question!”
“I don’t know. But you can leave it to Ruri Kazama. Isn’t he the master of all this stuff?” Cery replied with a wink, teasingly.
“He asked me to choose a place…”
“So it is him!” Cery shouted in victory. “I knew it was him!”
KyKy puffed her cheeks and looked away. “I’m… I’m going to ask Caesar then!”
“Sure. I bet he knows more than I do. But have you thought of any place yet?”
“Well, I wanted to go watch Kabuki with him, or having diner in a Japanese restaurant. But I had a second thought, and that sounds boring, since he’s already familiar with those places.”
“Correct. You need to take him to somewhere he has never been to.”
KyKy’s eyes opened wide in awe. That moment, something popped up in her mind. “You are right, Cery! I should take him to somewhere he has never been to. That way, whenever he thinks of the place, he will also think of me!”
“I was just gonna say that you should bring him to our training room…”
“Thank you so much, Cery!” KyKy giggled. “You do know something about romance after all!”
Then, the girl cheerfully left the room, leaving Cery in the cold shower.
“You’d better cook me something good tonight as a thank you!!!”
“Okay!”
KyKy was so happy when she replied to the text, “Let’s go to a place that you’ve never been to, Kazama.”
His response came right away. It only had an “Okay.”
But that made KyKy think even more. Kazama was okay with this? He was okay with going to a completely new place with her? From their previous conversations and what she had learnt from him, he did not seem to be the type that would agree into anything this fast. Not to mention, he had never been out of Japan; except for the time when he came to Cassell. Shouldn’t he be worried that KyKy might take him to a place that he disliked?
“Really? It’s the first time you sound so relaxed.” KyKy texted.
“I’m happy.”
Another text that made her heart skip beats. She wanted to know, to confirmed something…
“Why?”
“If KyKy can go to different places with me, I’ll always be happy.”
The moment when that message came in, KyKy felt like falling back to the sheets of her bed, and sinking in it forever. She was glad that she had closed the door; or else it would be embarrassing to let Cery see how red her cheeks were. Her gemini – which was in the form of a butterfly – fluttered its wings around the room. (Of course, every soul dancer has a gemini. And KyKy’s gemini isn’t very stable; that’s why it changes shapes so often!) Face down on the bed, giggling, her arms and legs waved freely around, spreading golden light rays with healing power all over the room.
The feeling of happiness stayed with KyKy for the rest of that week, when her mind traveled to the land of imagination. She had come up with hundreds and hundreds of dialogues they would be speaking, things they would do on their first date. Kazama and her. It should be perfect. It must be.
The long week finally came to an end. KyKy, as nervous as ever, dressed in her white and blue winter dress. It was spring, but the place where they were going to was very cold.
When KyKy came to Tokyo, Kazama had already been waiting there. He dressed in warm clothes as well. Anyone saw their smile towards each other could tell how happy they were to see the other person. They exchanged a few words, then went together into a quiet street, where there was a huge draconic symbol glowing in blue on the ground.
It was one of the “teleport stations” placed across the world, and can only be used by Hybrids, one with dragon bloodline.
“Are you sure it’s okay for you to go by this?” KyKy asked in concern as the two reached the point.
Kazama nodded. Unlike her, he was a member of the Devil Clan. Devils like him cannot use the same teleport points as Hybrids, and they had developed their own teleport system around Tokyo, or even the entire world. But he insisted on traveling with KyKy, even when it might expose him to the Hydras who were hunting him.
“Then, let’s go.” KyKy said and stepped into the glowing circle. She held out a hand for Kazama and he took it. Azure lights enveloped them both, until they reached their destination – Siberia Harbor.
The place greeted them with a cold wind.
“Welcome to the Arctic.” KyKy said with a smile.
Kazama gazed around in amaze. “This is my first time here.”
It was night time, but not very late. From their place, KyKy could see the bright light coming from the lighthouse nearby.
“Let’s go there,” she pointed to that direction.
Kazama nodded and walked beside her. They came to a small, cozy tavern nearby. They tried some Russian tea to warm up their bodies in the cold weather. After that, they went for a stroll to the lighthouse, and KyKy showed him everything she had know about the place.
Kazama seemed curious all the way, but he decided to only listened. He liked her cheerful voice; he did not recall hearing such an adorable voice before. They kept walking for minutes before reaching a lighthouse, and that was when he decided to speak.
“So you have been here before.”
“Mmh, yes. I sometimes come here after a long day at Cassell. It’s a beautiful place. And peaceful too.”
“You seem to have great memories of this place.”
“I guess I do…” KyKy smiled as she looked up at the sky. “Today is one of them.”
KyKy was the type that could not tell lies; Kazama could see it from her eyes. So her words put a smile on his face.
“What’s your first memory of this place?’ Kazama asked.
KyKy titled her head, mind traced back to Cassell dormitory, before replying, “There was a music box.”
“A music box?”
“Yes. And a story of love. Do you want to hear it? It’s a sad one, though.”
“I’ll listen to all the stories you tell.”
KyKy tried to hide her blush under the fluffy collar of her coat, but Kazama had already caught that.
“Well… It started with this strange voice inside a locked room in my dorm. I was so scared because there has been rumors and scary stories around the campus… But my curiousity won, and I couldn’t ignore a cry for help… So I decided to find the way in. After that, I met a boy who was locked inside. He’s looking for something precious, from the one he loved. It was a music box. I helped him look for it. Then, I found the music box… but I also found out something else… The boy and his loved one were dead long ago…
“The boy I saw was just a memory, refused to be erased because he was still holding onto something. He was waiting for his loved one. They died on a mission. They had never had the chance to tell the other person their true feelings… But they made a promise to watch the aurora together.
“So I helped them again. I brought the music box to this place. It’s still there, if you look closely into the snow near the lighthouse where we are standing now. It was so beautiful that day, when I first saw the aurora in front of my own eyes…”
Silence fell upon the two. Before KyKy could continue her story, someone came and greeted both of them.
It was an old man who seemed to know KyKy. Turned out, she had helped him with his boat before. The old man teased her about having a date, but Kazama seemed to enjoy it so much.
The old man let the two go inside the lighthouse. It was almost midnight. The aurora was expected to be seen by that time.
“KyKy?” Kazama turned to face KyKy as they reached the top of the lighthouse.
“Yes?”
“The story you told me, I want to know the ending.”
“The boy saw the aurora and decided to stay here, at this lighthouse, and wait for his lover. I haven’t seen him since then. But as long as the music box remains, so does his memory, though it’s just a fragment… I do hope the lovers can reunite, somewhere among the beautiful lights of the sky…”
“The boy kept his promise to his lover, right? Why do you think it’s a sad story?”
KyKy clasped her hands together and looked to the distance. “Well, they never had a chance to confess to each other… Isn’t it sad, that you can’t just tell someone how much you love them, and one day, they’re just not here with you anymore?...”
Kazama fell into silence. He looked away. Her story recalled the ghosts of his past. There was someone else; someone whose love he could not requite. And then, she left. She was killed, by the man he used to trust and respect so much. His heart was devoured by darkness since then.
But there was time when KyKy was around and he saw a bit of light, a bit of hope. Kazama let her words trace through his memories without knowing how she could do that; she had always done that, bringing out the thoughts, the feelings that he hid so well. Kazama had masks, ones that he wore all the time. They were a part of his kabuki costumes, but gradually, they had become a part of his life. It was a thrill, how the masks were broken day by day, whenever KyKy was around.
He felt relaxed around her, so relaxed that he shared with her a lot of things, including his family troubles. But at the same time, he was so afraid that she’d run away, once she knew the darkness inside him. There was no place for love. No place for her.
“Kazama?”
Her voice brought him back to reality. He turned to her and gave a weak smile. “Yeah, I’m here.”
“You seem to be in deep thoughts.”
“It’s nothing… I was just thinking about the story and the two lovers. One must be lucky to find love, and even luckier to be able to confess that love.”
“I guess you’re right. Not every one has that luck, right? But I hope I won’t have to be in the boy’s shoes… missing a chance to tell someone that I love them.”
Kazama’s red eyes fixed on hers. They were light purple, with a touch of blue. He had never seen them so close like this. He had never known there were stars in her eyes.
“Would you tell someone your feeling for them?” He asked.
“Mmh. I’ll let them know, by words or not… There are many ways to say you love someone, without saying it out loud. But…”
“But?”
“I think, only when they’re ready, I will tell them the magical words!”
At that moment, the dark sky broke into fragments by lights. It was magnificent. It was enchanting.
“Wow! It’s finally here!” KyKy exclaimed joyfully. She gazed up and reached for the veils of light above their heads.
But Kazama could not turn to see the aurora, for he had seen the most beautiful light and she was right next to him.
In the arctic lights, two souls found peace in each other’s accompany.
-The end-
