You had everything all planned out; you'd start by telling her how much she means to you, how the thought of settling down used to make you nervous but now you could do it with confidence because that's how secure she makes you feel. You'd thank her for the patience she had with you and your journey through medical school. All the late nights she had stayed up with you to help you study for exams even though she had practice early the next morning. You'd express to her how you had never felt more certain of a decision than you did right now, and that's when you'd do it. You'd take your hair down as majestically as you could muster, and then you'd get down on one knee and ask her, the love of your life, to marry you.

You spun around on your heel, "Okay, let me see them now."

You looped your arm with hers as she swiped through the pictures, favoriting a few as she went by. When she got to the last one, she smiled and shut her phone off, staring down at you. It was the perfect moment, and you would've taken advantage of it if Paige hadn't decided to interrupt it instead.

"You wanna do a fit check?"

"Aren't you supposed to do that before you go out?" you quirked your eyebrow, but the blonde wasn't listening. She was already heading away from the water and toward a couple of rocks that she could set the phone up on.

"For as long as i've known you, you've always been the one to make me feel understood. You know exactly what to say after i've had a bad, you never complain about having to massage my back, or my legs, or my feet," she flashed that familiar gummy smile. "You always stay late with me at the gym when I wanna get in some extra reps, you offer to grab my rebounds and play one on one with me even though you don't know a thing about basketball. All that matters to you is that i'm happy.

I love how you never let us go to bed angry at each other, how all your apologies always start off with you offering me food. I want you to make me the happiest woman in the world and marry me."

It was then that Paige got down on one knee, opening the velvet box and revealing the most gorgeous ring you had ever seen. A white gold, square diamond ring, the kind you had always talked about wanting when you'd go on your tangents about getting engaged. Paige had been listening the entire time, she had heard you. She was staring up at you with red-brimmed eyes, she had started crying. You were crying too, you weren't sure when you had started.

"Baby," she whispered, voice trembling. "Will you marry me?"

Your hand moved to cover your mouth, to cover the choked up cry that you had let out. You had been planning to propose, you hadn't planned on being proposed to. "On one condition," you say, reaching up to pull your hair tie from your bun. Shaking your hair loose, you catch the string before it falls to the sand. You hold it up to her, her eyebrows furrowing. It caught the light, a simple yet elegant band that perfectly captured her style—understated, but undeniably beautiful. "You marry me first."

She stood abruptly, glancing back and forth between you and the ring. A breathless laugh escaped her, "You're unbelievable."

You threw your head back and laughed as well, "Dude! I had it all planned out and you beat me to you!"

"You told me you wanted me to propose to you! Forgive me for not expecting you to pull a ring our your hair!"

The two of you were smiling uncontrollably, your cheeks beginning to hurt. Paige's hands were in yours, her lip between her teeth.

how to install dashboard unfucker (for desktop)

hi i use desktop and i use the dashboard unfucker extension by dragongirlsnout and you should too because it's awesome. i don't know much about computers so it was intimidating to set up but ended up being really easy.

but first:

what is dashboard unfucker?

dashboard unfucker is an extention that makes being on tumblr bearable again.

(ID: 2 screenshots of tumblr with urls/posts etc censored. the first is with the new layout, with labels on the left, the ad-free button, "check out these blogs," "explore all of tumblr," the radar, and no easy way to access your own blog. the second is with the extension enabled, the left hand side of the screen is empty, posts are wider, navigation icons are back at the top right, and the only thing on the right-hand side of the dash is the dashbaord unfucker and limit checker and tag replacer from xkit. end ID)

i got it for layout changes like these- the first is cramped and ugly and i feel like i'm on twitter. the second is warm and comfy and i can make my posts wider (i dont like all the empty space). (limit checker, tag replacer, and post color were done on xkit and palettes respectively, not unfucker, btw)

with the dashboard unfucker you can:

hide the following/blog subs/for you etc tabs

get rid of the changes/staff picks/etc carousel

hide recommended blogs and tags

add profile pics back to posts

hide the radar

hide the explore page

hide tumblr shop

hide user badges

highlight bots in ur activity feed

show who follows u in the activity feed

make posts wider/slimmer and move the dash posts position to the left/right

revert messages design (and make the messages box bigger)

revert activity feed to the old design

display vote counts on polls

show poll results without clicking (no more skewing polls or "see results"!!)

disable tumblr domains

add polls to reblogs

disable "post without tags?"

show ns.fw posts

and other things that i probably missed copying this from the settings!!

so how do you do it? it seems scary but it's easy actually. take my hand

(note: i did this on firefox and tested it on chrome, i'm not familiar with other browsers, also use firefox if at all possible fuck chrome)

how to install dashboard unfucker

step 1: install either tampermonkey, tampermonkey beta, greasemonkey, or violentmonkey (if you don't already have it)

note: im using tampermonkey as an example because it's what i use

step 2a: go to firefox extensions/chrome web store/your browser's equivalent

step 2b: look up "tampermonkey" and click "add to firefox/chrome/whatever" and confirm

step 2c: you're done! yayyy

step 2: click this link. look under "installation" where it says "Click on unfucker.user.js to install or update". and click that

(it should open in a new tab and look like this)

step 3: click install! (when i did this it didn't look like much happened and i got scared. dont get scared take my hand)

step 4: go to www.tumblr.com and to the right of the dash it'll have the dashboard unfucker label to the right!

(ID: the default dash again, but with the dashboard unfucker title at the top right of the right-hand side of the dash. end ID)

step 5: click the little gear icon and all the options will pop up! u can fuck around with em to ur heart's content. i recommend exporting after ur done and saving it somewhere in case u have to uninstall/reinstall to troubleshoot or smth

you're done! now u can see the results of polls without clicking them and other such things

(ID: a poll i have not voted on. it has 17 votes and 23h 56m remaining. the title is "poll :)" and the answers are "answer 1" "answer 2" and "see results". there are no percentage labels, but the amount each answer has is indicated by light blue bars in each result, as they would be if i had voted. end ID) note: i'm not sure how/if this aspect of the extension is indicated for screenreaders

I know most of the DC×DP stuff is DP/Batfam, but has anyone ever considered Danny meeting Static? Like, sure with the hc that he doesn't like electrical attacks he would probably be pretty wary of him at first, but then realize Staic is a pretty cool dude. But also, Virgil is super reasonable, so could you imagine, after getting used to him, Danny just crashing at Virgil's house to get away from all the ghost fights and his family drama only to be strong armed into self care and actually treating his wounds, even if they will eventually heal on their own in a few hours/days depending on severity. Instant mom friend who he can vent about being a teen hero with. Dakota city is also supposed to be in Illinois, which would make it easier for them to meet if you subscribe to the Amity is in Illinois hc.

Also, Danny being a chaos gremlin and sending Virgil random snap chats at ungodly hours like "does this look broken to you?" Or "should I be concerned about this much blood loss?" Or even the odd "look ma, no head!" Joke is just too funny. Or even mid fight pics like: "Whoever said you can rest when you're dead fucking lied to me." And sends a picture of Kitty and Ember screaming at Johnny in the background behind him.

I just, haven't seen too many non mainstream league crossovers, and I always really loved Static Shock as a kid. I dunno, maybe it's not as funny as I'm imagining it is. Feel free to ignore this.

Mayhem DOES get injured after getting captured by those weird fucks with the dogs + the turtles

If the reader finds them similar to how April found him in the show, They/He might find the turtles too, the weirdos with the dogs took the vial and the turtles were supposed to 'dispose' of Mayhem

Of course, Mayhem bolts and ends up finding you

Since the turtles find you with Mayhem, they try to attack you, Only for Mayhem to teleport y'all to the opposite side of the city for safety

You adopt Mayhem as your little Dog-thingy, they love being around you and get skittish if they detect Yokai or Mutants around you

They do love being around you because they're ALWAYS near you so you can be safely teleported away in case the turtles find you again

They've already seen you, it's dangerous for you to be alone without an escape plan!

Mayhem ends up leading you to the Mutants that are more Friendly, like Repo

Since Mayhem has been in your life, you've been happier, you've found friends who genuinely enjoy your presence (The friendly Mutants)

However, all good things come to an end

The Turtles find you.

They've been stalking you whenever they can

Oddly enough they're smitten, however, they still need to get that mutt of an animal

but they're starting to lose interest in that

If you're under The Friendly Mutants protection, Mayhem might be more relaxed with being around you, the Turtles use this to their advantage and attempt to kidnap you

Depending on who's around you, It could be successful or a bust

Meat Sweats or Repo and His cat around you? Absolute bust

Warren or Repo WITHOUT his cat, you're now surprise adopted.

Mayhem freaks the fuck out the minute they find out you're with the Turtles and Instantly teleports to you after tracking your general area through scent

Mayhem does end up freeing you, but at a cost, The turtles severely wound them and Mayhem has to teleport multiple times away from them due to Leo's Sword.

Since Mayhem is a Yokai, you can't bring them to a normal Vet, so the only way for them to get safely cared for is you going back into the maw of death

The turtles make a trade with you, They have since gave fuck-all about Mayhem and are more interested in YOU

So, You surrender, as long as they help Mayhem get care in the Hidden city

As much as I can slander the Dark! AU turtles, They do keep their word.

Donnie puts a tracker in you so that now, If you decide to back out when Mayhem feels better, he can find you

The Dark! AU turtles are direct, possessive and Obsessive, getting their attention is hard, but DAMN is it harder to make them no longer pay attention to you

They churr as Leo takes Mayhem to an Animal Yokai Vet(?)

After that you're kinda forced into a cuddle pile with them, there isn't much escape after that, you dug and nailed your own coffin

React: "Return to Me" (from the POV of Someone Averse to RomComs, Part I)

This is rambly, so buckle in y'all.

Return to Me. Ahhhh, a romcom, a hallmark of the 90s. Having skipped most of the 90s offerings-- older media was entertaining enough-- the first time I heard of this movie was a couple years back when YouTube put up some free movies (and promptly ripped them back down when COVID produced 1000 and 1 streaming services.) It was advertised over and over and over again on my second dash. Did I ever click it? NOPE. I didn't even know who David Duchovny was at that time (though I admired Minnie Driver in An Ideal Husband.)

X-Files led me to read David Duchvony's and Gillian Anderson's press; and finding them admirable chaps, I got into the specifics of their acting (or more broadly: working) goals. DD's mentality clicked with mine, and I got to work pawing here and there into his other projects. I've read a few books (excellent-- I prefer his written word even to his acting, but that's a tough call), seen a few clips from his other gigs, and, finally, worked myself up to this moment.

And here we are! Thanks to @baronessblixen and @dd-is-my-guiltypleasure for the final encouragements in this direction. All the fun you can glean from my reactions and windy diatribes should be credited to in part to them and my curiosity of their curiosity of my own thoughts.

This post is just me sort of rambling about the thoughts surrounding my new job so feel free to scroll past.

New workspace. This machine was installed a few weeks ago and a few of use were trained in it but I am the primary operator. They haven’t installed my work table yet so I’ve been using that cart. I’m two months into the drastic change in careers and it’s been strange - not just the obvious difference in what I’m actually doing but the shift as well. I don’t have weird start and ends times that change daily. But my set shift begins at 5am, meaning that I’m waking up at 3:30am. That’s the middle of the witching hour. I keep expecting to sit up and see some kind of demon ghost thing looking shocked like “the fuck you doing awake?”

But I’m less stressed, I think. I miss my clients dearly but now I no longer have to be responsible for the lives of 12 people. I can actually focus on myself. And the fact that I can do this job while wearing headphones has allowed me to catch up on podcasts and shit I’d long abandoned due to lack of time/energy. I’ve even made it a goal to listen to at least one new album a day from an artist I like but only know a song or two. I have 10 hours a day to fill so it’s not that hard to do. (I’m open to suggestions btw so if you have a fav band/album you think more people should hear, let me know! I don’t really *hate* any genre, except 90% of the new bro country shit)

My medical insurance kicks in on July 1st, so I can finally go to the doctor and dentist. They’ve had some overtime available that I’ve taken advantage of, and will continue to do so as long as it’s there. Mostly because I need all the money I can get and also - I don’t mind the work. It feels good to be physically doing stuff. I’m not like, building houses or anything but there I’m for sure getting more movement than I was previously. The ONLY downside so far of this job is that it’s very hard to regulate the temperature. I’ve had to buy my own fan to bring in and honestly I’m about to get a second one so I can have it blowing on my from both sides. Ya girl STAYS hot.

I’ve been staying with my mom and it’s been rough. We don’t have the most loving relationship, she gets on my goddamn nerves but I try not to get to frustrated with her because it will only make things worse. Maybe one day I’ll write some essays about it, as my upbringing with her was anything but “normal” but I digress.

The most challenging thing has been the lack of *silence* in the house. Before, I had my roommates. Ut they were hardly home when I was and then they had their room upstairs. We never really got in each others space. Here, that’s not possible. I’m literally sleeping on a twin bed that’s been set up in the dining room since it’s a tiny 750sq ft one bedroom house. And my mom nor Mo work, so they NEVER LEAVE. And neither of them have much variety in the food they eat so I’ve had to adapt to eating much of the same bland poor southern shit I grew up with. Which is good occasionally but man. I can’t wait to have my own kitchen again and cook some Indian food. Or Mediterranean.

My goal is to have my own place by the first of August. Thats plenty of time to have the money for the first few months plus deposit. The biggest issue is not knowing what’s gonna be on the market. Rent, while not nearly as high as places like Chicago and Austin and huge cities like that, it’s still unreasonable for a single income person. Especially when that income is just under 40k a year, pre tax.

Anyway, my hope is that once I get moved into my own place I can finally have the energy and focus to do more creative shit. I have TONS of ideas written down but with no space to do any of them, it’s been depressing. I’ve got buttons and magnets and silly shit all in my big ass head. And not all of it is wrestling related.

Alright I’m gonna stop now. But yeah if anyone read all this I apologize haha. It’s not my usual shit of making jokes about AEW and posting too many pics of Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy.

(See, I've only been in the fandom for about a year, so I missed out on a lot of good, old content lol. I'm a big fan of Scarecrow, and your blogs really helped me to appreciate LockUp a lot more.)

ok my first pair of pants!! tbh i'm not very happy with them but i did learn a lot. yes the waistband is obscured in the mirror pic on purpose...because it is so uneven....

sewing knits is hard!! i'm not sure what this fabric is (free, did not come with a label) but it's fairly stretchy, much less slippery than jersey i've sewn so in my arrogance, i did not swap out for a ballpoint needle. i didn't have difficulty w/ making stitches that don't jam the sewing machine (as i've often done w/ jersey) but getting pieces to stay aligned was REALLY hard so, as you can tell from the uneven seams, i had to go back and restitch some areas. in the future will be more thorough about pinning it and sewing more slowly

the pattern i used was the mood sewciety ixia leggings (free), but there's nothing particularly special about the instructions—it's just a standard pair of pants with a waistband, not even an elastic or anything—so i think i should have been less shy about altering the pattern to fit me better. it's supposed to be a size 4 but the size 4 in there has a much wider set of hips than i do (there is no way that waistband is the 25" the chart says the waist is! it's so much longer!) and there was a lot of initial gaping around the crotch area which i have only partially fixed. in the future may just try to base pants pieces more off my own measurements now that i have a better understanding of how pants patterns work

overall it's pretty comfy and feels nice so i decided to let it be but probably won't wear it outside much lol

Commencing Project Cinnamon Roll!

IIRC, this is my first try at a proper yeasted gluten free cinnamon rolls. I actually made the dough and turned it into rolls last night, and stashed the pan in the fridge to proof most of the way. This is after I pulled it out to finish rising at (very warm) room temperature. Temporarily uncovered, since it's hard to see much through buttered plastic wrap.

The original plan was to get them ready and in the oven yesterday evening, but that's not how things worked out. Ah well, the slow cold treatment should only help with flavor! I did finally get my ass in gear, and it's all good.

(I couldn't resist letting the raggedy end pieces finish rising last night, for a little chef's snack. Not at all bad then!)

That greasy baking paper is one of the sheets I used to roll the dough out and form them, btw. Didn't see any good reason not to just plonk them back on there.

I decided to use basically a mashup of these two recipes--with part my quasi-sourdough Nerd Cider Yeast Starter for a little flavor, and part dry commercial Kronjäst for sweet doughs because I was not feeling patient. (That was before the little overnight delay, yeah. 🙄)

Those recipes are pretty similar anyway. I just used my own judgment where things did diverge, and definitely added the cardamom into the dough Swedish styley. The extra hint of spice can be subtle, but it really does add a nice touch to basically any type of sweet bread. These also got the softened butter filling from that recipe, but using a mix of white and brown sugar for extra yum.

The original plan was to go for a compromise approach with finishing touches, too: half with the crunchy pearl sugar the Household Swede prefers (and I have texture problems with 😬), half barbarian style with glaze.

But, it turned out that the box of pearl sugar I thought we had was really more brown sugar. So, it's Food Crimes all the way! 🤠

This is not necessarily the best place to have texture issues with pearl sugar, btw. It's actually pretty easy to get otherwise good commercial GF cinnamon rolls here, but honestly? One of the reasons I decided to try making some at home was to get glaze instead.

This rather fundamental international difference in cinnamon bun philosophy is actually a bit of a running gag. To the point of someone feeling a need to set up a joke subreddit a while back--and also some ridiculous recent drama involving certain segments of Sweddit brigading food subs to make rude comments on other people's cinnamon roll pics (a.k.a. "cum buns"), earning some pretty heavy use of the banhammer.

But, now those food crimes are cumming from inside the house! 😅
