<NOTE> Once again this is very long cuz I have a lot of thoughts about Tobys character + story. I didn’t go as in depth with his story cuz I dont know if you guys are interested in that. I have his entire life start to finish planned out in my head so just let me know if anyones interested

TICCI TOBY .

For the first four months after the fire, Toby was completely under the influence of The Slenderman.

He was completely dissociated from the world around him. Toby would get an urge, an intrusion, and he would act on it and thats about the amount of control he had

The boy didn’t initially want to kill. He didn’t know what was happening and he felt like he was losing his mind. It was genuinely terrifying not knowing what was real or fake, not knowing why he coughed up blood or felt static in his head

Or why he felt like something was watching him wherever he went

Toby would find shelter in abandoned cabins littered around the forest he frequently ‘came to’ in, crashing at random junkies places, or even sleeping in trees

Slowly over those four months, he found himself losing track of time. He would wake up and days had passed, not knowing where he was or what he did

Sometimes he’d ‘come to’ with blood on his hands. Toby never knew if it was his or not.

He eventually began forgetting many things of his past. They would simply slip his mind. It started with his childhood, then the faces of his family, then the things they did, their voices, his sister, his mother, his father, his actions. It all became a big blur that eventually faded into nothing

Toby was too separated from reality to care or notice. He could barely process the present moment, he was working completely on autopilot almost as if someone or something else was in control. It’s not like He would let Toby dig into his past anyways

This was Tobys life for the first start. But then it got progressively worse as so did his mental state

He was already a sadistic fuck who secretly took pleasure in hurting others (but god knows he wouldn’t have ever admitted that in the past), so when he had his first target, it wasn’t difficult to push him over the edge

It wasn’t as if he hadn’t killed someone before, he knows by the places he had woken up in and the blood on his hands that he’d done some awful things when he wasn’t quite “awake”

He should’ve been freaked out, but Toby knew what he was capable of. And a part of him liked knowing he had that capability to take another persons life without hesitation

UNDERGROUND .

But despite this power, he was sick. He was plagued with Slender Sickness. The parasite burrowed in his mind and his body and now he was a conduit for The Slenderman

The forest Toby usually hid out in was typically called “Slender Forest”, or sometimes just “The Forest”. It was Slender himself. The forest was apart of Slenderman. The roots were his tendrils, the trees were his eyes, the ground was his skin.

The forest existed outside of the bounds of reality and could only be accessed if you were connected to Slender in some way. If you had access to The Slenderman, you had access to the forest

And most people who were like Toby would seek shelter there as it was the best place to hide from civilization and the authorities

The edge of the forest was connected directly to the real world. It was your typical woods with hiking trails, open areas for campers, and was right on the edge of a highway near a lake

The more you go into that forest (if you have initial access to it) the more you’d be entering Slender Forest. It gets darker, colder, the terrain is flat and repetitive

Deeper you go, darker it gets. Toby always felt like he was in a liminal space when he was in that forest, but in the way it feels like being carried to bed from a car ride by your father when you were 4 years old

Eerily familiar and nostalgic, even though there was no way in hell Toby had ever been there before becoming ‘sick’

Over the months Toby would find himself meeting more and more people like himself. Some by chance, some by the metaphorical hands of The Slenderman

This kid was a freak, a weird guy who was just generally uncomfortable to be around. He was unsocialized and an antisocial prick and you could easily tell that there was something fundamentally wrong with him

So no matter who he met, and even if they were just like him, Toby would never really get along with anyone

Toby had bad anger issues and would always pick fights with the others. When he met Hoodie and Masky, two men who were supposedly the same as him, he lost his shit

It caused a lot of problems at the beginning. But it hurt when he went against Slenders orders. It hurt. And to someone not used to feeling pain, it felt like eternal hell when he defied orders

Job after job, murder after murder, all the time lost. They spread the sickness, tied up loose ends, fell victim to the eldritch parasite. The group got to know each other in the most twisted circumstances

PROXY .

There are two types of relationship you could have with The Slenderman

You could be a proxy, a direct pawn for him, a spreader of the sickness, a vessel to allow Slender to interact with reality outside of his forest

Or you could be a Creep, a killer, entity, or person with connections to Slender or proxies but not useful/of interest enough to use as a vessel or pawn

Toby was a proxy. One of the top, the closest to Slender, one of the most used by him. And he was as obedient as he could be

The boy was lazy, but dedicated. He got the job done but he got it done messily and carelessly. Starting forest fires, leaving bodies to be found, letting victims go just for the thrill of chasing them, starting fights with connections, mouthing off, etc

This would piss his ‘coworkers’ right the fuck off because now they’re left to clean up his messes

He didn’t care though. He was hyper, reckless, and he always wanted more. Anything to keep him busy

More murder, more drama, more fights, more jobs, more sickness, more connections. More more more more

As time passed, Masky and Hoodie would beat the boy into shape and he would bite back like a bad dog. But he learnt how to survive the world, and he was crafty

Sometimes they'd go weeks and maybe a month without getting any direction from Slenderman. They were all horribly bored

It was so fucking boring

But after everything he's done, all the shit he's seen, all the people he's killed and convinced to start killing, after everyone hes led into Slendermans trap

There was no way in hell this boy could ever find redemption

This was what he was built for. Toby Rogers burned to ash in that fire, and like a phoenix Slenderman pulled him out and crafted him like clay

Just like he molded Masky and Hoodie

This group was in it together whether they liked it or not

BAD DOG .

Now this kid was a menace. He was a fucked up kid who never really grew out of his conduct issues, he grew into them

A spitting image of his father. Bitter, mean, and alone.

He wasn’t friendly. He was a loud-mouthed, arrogant asshole who said and did whatever he wanted to. He would mercilessly tease and put people down just to be on top, and god forbid anybody hurt his fragile ego

Masky and Hoodie would often beat the shit out of him if he caused problems, even if he couldnt feel it. They knew he hated feeling small, and so when he stepped out of line or did something risky they would do just that

Everybody always made him feel small, and he'd do anything in his power to fight back

He spent so many years of his life not being able to do anything in his childhood. He spent so many years being a victim to those who were bigger than him when he was supposed to be nurtured and cared for

And he was so fucking angry. Toby would take these feelings out on his victims. The sense of power over them was exhilarating. It made him feel alive. For once in his life he made sure that no one would ever fuck with him again, he was finally capable of standing up for himself

Their life was in his hands. He loved chasing them through the forest or hearing them beg for his mercy. He loved the feeling of having the capability to beat someone into submission

He would target people who rejected him or made him feel like a freak just for that powertrip. So his victims were primarily girls at bars who treated him like he was a creep, or people who insulted him on the streets

Toby was a stalker. He would hunt them down and wait for the moment they forgot to lock their door at night or made the mistake of taking a shortcut through an alleyway

The boy wouldn’t let anybody fuck with him like that. He was a bully who pushed people around and hurt them if they went against him

But that was just his victims, he was always just the runt of the group back in his world. He wasn’t smart or mature or wise as those other guys were. He was a reckless idiot who never thought twice and would lose himself to dramatics

And so Toby couldn’t ever really escape the bullying and abuse. He was forever stuck being powerless

This reflected back badly onto his behaviour where he would get more and more reckless and do more risky things just to do more. He needed more. He craved stimulation and was a bit of an adrenaline junkie to a fault

Toby never considered consequences. He was an asshole who said and did whatever he wanted. He didnt give a fuck about boundaries or others feelings, and god knows he never once felt bad for the things he did or said

But while he was just like his father, he had his mothers heart. In another world where he was properly nurtured as a child Toby would’ve been a sweetheart who did good in the world

On the rare occasions where he shut his mouth, you could see this in him. He would sometimes awkwardly sit by people who were having a tough time, not really saying anything but just being there. Or he would give advice in the most annoying, intrusive ways. He always meant well though

But he never let this side show. He was far too paranoid and far too angry to ever be that vulnerable with someone

Toby had a good sense of acting though. He had a knack for theatrics and was very good at putting on a show. He could play a troubled teen, a victim of circumstance. Or he could play a stupid naive idiot who was more like a hyper child than anything.

Sometimes he played into the act so well people would completely forget what he was capable of, and what he’s done, until he got pissed off and starting threatening to hurt them

It was eerie at how well the boy could manipulate people

DIRTY WORK .

At the start, Toby glamorized and idealized his situation and The Slenderman. The strange creature was like a god to him, and Toby wouldn’t ever fight against His commands

But as more time passed and more atrocities were committed, after all the pain and suffering, he began to absolutely hate the life he was given

He began understand all of Brians resentment, all of Tims anger

No matter what he felt about it, there was no getting out. Toby couldn’t die, he couldn’t run, he couldn’t hide. There was absolutely no escaping the sickness

He was always watching

Toby did what he did, and he would forever be a puppet to this thing.

Sometimes he would sit alone in the pews of a Church, not to pray or seek forgiveness, but because in a house of worship and holiness the sickness subdued for a short while

The boy wasn’t built for hope and forgiveness anyways. He couldn’t imagine any sort of future for himself and just took everything day by day, moment by moment

So the next few years of his life was spent crashing in abandoned cabins or Tims apartment, ruining every good thing in his life, patrolling the forest, washing blood off of his hands and losing so much time to Him

And for those next few years, Toby would spend every waking moment wishing he was never saved in that fire

TMA AU where everything is exactly the same except that Gertrude was Jon's legal guardian when he was a kid

I'm all for the somewhat disinterested unnamed grandma that let him occupy space and didn't show him affection plotline but hear me out:

What if that had been Gertrude?

You can come up with many a reason why she ended up having him under custody (I don't want to say they're necessarily blood family in this AU) and the story would pretty much play out the same way.

She would also be distant and frankly not immediately concerned with raising a child because she's way too busy stopping rituals and making fear avatars fear her, so she sort of leaves him unsupervised most of the time. He has no idea what her job even is, he just knows she prefers to work in secret instead of taking care of him and still is salty about that later on.

He doesn't find out Gertrude's been working for the Institute until he goes to work there himself and it's painfully clear he knows less about her than everyone else there-which is frustrating because he's learning things about her second hand, that's how avoidant she had been with him.

Obviously he resents her for it, so throughout Season 1 his comments about her incompetence are more targeted and personal, though not too personal since the only thing he knows about her is that she didn't care about his upbringing.

As the show progresses and he finds out who she really was it's pretty clear that in a twisted way she was trying to protect him from harm, keeping up an extremely typical relationship so that she doesn't get attached and he doesn't get used against her. She can't afford to be vulnerable for anyone, nor can she have anyone knowing he lives with her.

Of course, some people would find out and she'd make sure they'd never hear the end of it. Though, unfortunately she could not predict the bad luck via which a Leitner ended up in Jon's hands.

In the end, the arc about Jon discovering more about his predecessor and her deeds is largely the same, but it also has that extra vector of personal involvement, as he begins to rationalize her actions towards him too, but maybe not entirely forgiving. It's obvious that between the fate of the world and a child she would choose the former, but a part of him wishes she had told him more about her life and he didn't have to meet the real her post-mortem.

You can add a lot of angsty bits with the concept, like Jon wanting to get through all of Gertrude's tapes to see if he's even mentioned once, only to find out that he never is, or him meeting people who knew Gertrude but had no idea he even existed in relation to her and clearly describing her personality better than he ever could. Oh and of course the tragic irony that since she never told him about the Institute, he couldn't have known it was a bad place and ended up there anyway. I'm particularly fond of this idea because I still want to emphasize that Jon is still just a random guy at the end of the day and didn't end up where he did because of his relation to someone else.

It also serves the theme of human connections, making you wonder that if they had communicated and bonded, would everything play out the same way?

As a conclusion, I'd just like to say that this is by no means a correction of the original story, I like Gertrude being a completely mythical and mysterious figure just as much, I just wanted to share a different take (might make part 2 for more details/headcanons).

A Very, Very Unfinished Pile of Theory of Everything Headcanons (Ayreon)

Last semester, my English final was a presentation relating the overall theme of the Forever saga to that of the more popular works of H.G. Wells. Details of that argument aside, the thesis was that Ayreon’s emotional core was the presence of small-scale acts of love juxtaposed against large-scale existential tragedy, balanced in their individual power. That we are messy and self-destructive, and in the grand scheme of things we mean very little in the universe, but we are resilient and alive and human and that has to be worth something.

I really like this aspect of the main story, and it got me a perfect score on that assignment. It had a ten minute time limit and I was fighting for my life to stay under it. While I was downsizing the script, I couldn’t help but think of an earlier idea I had drafted about how The Theory of Everything on its own was a really incredible example of the mad scientist archetype turned completely on its head (it was a science-fiction analysis class). Specifically how that script was almost three times longer than the original H.G. Wells one, that took me a solid twenty minutes to read aloud. 

I literally wrote an hour long lecture about The Theory of Everything. No headcanons. No extra theories. Literally just picking apart its canon plot. 

I think this is why I have so little extra writing for it. The story as its given is airtight and just…fucking incredible. Arjen wrote it with a very clear theme in mind like he did with Transitus, but TToE isn’t missing half of its story because he couldn’t pull in the cash to make a movie out of it. You can feel the intention behind every single character, they feel like real people, it has so many layers to it and it is literally, objectively, the greatest prog album ever made. Fight me. 

But anyways: For lack of better phrasing, there isn’t much to “fix” in that sense. Almost all the headcanons I have for The Source or Transitus boil down to a few things:

I was being self-indulgent with a favorite character and it snowballed into a genuinely informative trait/subplot that informs the main story (a certain hc I have where Henry just fucking shoots Daniel in the back by mistake sometime between Two Worlds and Talk of the Town, turning into this weirdly effective commentary of how Daniel is conditioned to his brother’s shitty behavior and Abby hauling ass to get him out of that headspace)

I am curious about aspects of an album’s worldbuilding and get a little excited while filling in the blanks that were perfectly fine being left alone (doing mental gymnastics trying to build a version of The Source where these five academics, three politicians, two religious figures, one robot and one random spaceman viably know each other)

The rarer option that I am genuinely disappointed by how a part of the story was handled and completely ignore this small part of canon to make the overall story be more effective. Or attempt it, at least (Lavinia’s entire character undermining Transitus’ themes and her contradicting her own motivations, and me, in turn, just writing her character from scratch while keeping with the basic story beats [her seeing ghosts, doing shady shit with Henry, etc.])

But with TToE I’ve felt very little need to do any of these. If I were to really dive into it with intention I think I would start building off of the whole bank robbery plot in Phase III (just a slightly weirdly framed plot point for me), but I haven’t thought about it. It’s not that glaring of an issue and there’s few other places in the story where I think adding anything would make it more effective. 

This isn’t to say that Transitus and The Source are objectively worse in any sense, but they leave a lot more up to interpretation, allowing me to write so many add ons that they become structured and essential to each other’s function. 

It’s fun with those two albums. With TToE I really have to look for cracks to fill and it’s kind of useless. 

Not entirely, though. I’ve got a few hcs, and maybe they’ll warrant dozens of google doc pages of context one day like the other two albums: 

Two central things sparked curiosity. Setting, and how the parent characters came to hate each other that much. Naturally. 

This started four-ish years ago when I was pacing around my parents’ house with TToE on the mind (as it often is), and my brother put on this show called His Dark Materials. I watched the intro to it all of one time and just…knew this was the aesthetic TToE should have.🔗 At least combined with dark academia. It’s an album about physics and ghosts, that seems reasonable enough. 

…funnily enough, as I later found out, His Dark Materials itself has a very dark-academia-esque vibe, and the plot is entirely based upon the intersectionality between science and mysticism and trivial human attempts to make sense of it. 

So. Pretty fitting. 

This really stuck with me, and a handful of the characteristics of the show and books became the basis for the way I picture The Theory of Everything. Mainly the visual aesthetic, like I said, but also the fact that the story starts at a parallel version of Oxford University. I don’t have some giant case study for this like with Transitus/New England. I just think it’d be a cool and vibey setting. Maybe it’s the American in me but there’s something about a thousand-year-old college with a campus made of literal goddamn castles that borders on the fantastic. 

From there, you have a decent excuse for The Prodigy to run off to Ireland, where you can choose from one of like 200 different pretty little isolated lighthouses for him to lose his mind in, far enough away for him not to be found as long as he did. Not to mention it lowkey matches with the overt Celtic influence of the music. Or Scotland, if you want some weather symbolism from the North Sea. 

Solid setting, if I say so myself, and it actually influenced the family’s whole situation. Here, The Father (Mike) is a physics professor at Oxford, and The Mother (Cristina) is the director of the Bodleian Library. It’s how and where they meet in 1991 (though the mother is in an attendant position at the time), as shown by the only part of this I have drawn out:

They hit it off, and marry in 1993. Their first and only child is born two years later and they love him half to death. Everything is more or less nice and normal. 

In 1996, Mike stumbles into “proof,” more or less, of the theory of everything being a singular, solvable equation through his work, practically by accident, and begins focused work on it with enthusiastic support from his wife. Life is going great, Cristina is promoted and the two are balancing things well enough. 

The boy shows little to no social development into his toddler years, but his parents don’t think much of it. His father was similar at his age; they’re not worried. They even go as far to say he’ll turn out just as ambitious and smart as his dad and relatives, coworkers and family friends go along with it, setting insanely high expectations for this literal three year old. Mike keeps working on his theory. 

The boy enters preschool at age four; still no improvement. Just isolates himself and draws indiscernible patterns on everything you put in front of him. His parents finally try to intervene to some degree, hiring private instructors and talking with some other psych/child development people they know through the university, to no avail. Nothing changes. He just stares off into space, doesn’t interact with any of them and supposedly doesn’t pay attention to lessons. He still isn’t speaking. Cristina is finally concerned

Around the same time, Mike makes a significant breakthrough in his work, gaining worldwide attention. He receives massive grants from in and outside of Oxford to continue his work, and quits his teaching job to make more time for the endeavor. Cristina is left as the family’s sole provider. She understands and is in agreement on that decision, that’s not the problem yet. The problem is that Mike is becoming more or less indifferent to their son hits five, not seeing any previously projected greatness he was supposed to have in his father’s footsteps. Cristina, much more conscious of balance in her life and how having kids works, isn’t sure what to make of that. Their relationship starts to strain. 

From there, as Mike keeps working, Cristina takes the kid to all sorts of specialists around England but none of them can pinpoint what’s “wrong” with him. She tries much more actively to connect with him like they’re telling her to (though she still enrolls him in the university’s affiliated primary school program, against their suggestions), bringing him everywhere. Buys him little memory games since that’s all that seems to hold his attention. She’s past any belief of him being some secret genius like his dad, not that her opinion of her husband is super positive at this point anyway. She’s just dead-set on her son having some sense of normal in his life. 

By 2002, Mike has completely secluded himself and works nearly constantly. He has made no progress on his theory since 1999 and the fame garnered from his breakthrough has faded. The family is running out of money and Cristina is exhausted. The boy is ostracized at school and still (almost) totally nonverbal. Her coworkers keep suggesting these weird holistic remedies that she refuses. She knows better than to fall for all that new age, pyramid scheme bullshit. 

The son’s condition, whatever it is, worsens until mom, desperate, puts her foot down in 2008 (or “gives up,” if you wanna put it like that) and drags her husband and son to this private practice in Scotland she was told about by a friend, suspicious but ready to put up with anything at this point.

random headcanon

I think the nahobino shell automatically takes the expected expression of whoever’s in control based on their emotions. It’s pretty rudementary - :) = happy, :( = sad, etc. - and just defaults to :| when dealing with complex emotions, but it makes the nahobino more conventionally expressive than the protagonist or aogami on their own.

When I draw him, he’s always smiling because I believe he’s just happy to be with Aogami, even if he’s getting exploded about it.

Reborn: I mostly chose Reborn’s name because I do really like the fanon name but wasn’t a huge fan of the last name Sinclair for many reasons. Thus, I wanted a last name that not only flowed really nicely with Renato but was also Italian. I decided on La Rosa in the end, since it’s a common last name in Sicily (according to my research, but please do correct me if I'm wrong), where I headcanon Reborn is from, and also Renato La Rosa just sounds so nice.

Lal Mirch: I really wanted to keep the Lal part of her name intact and always pictured her as at least half or mixed but not fully Italian. I imagine she goes by just the nickname Lal as she was tired of people butchering her name (and as someone with a “foreign” name I very much relate).  I also have the headcanon that all CEDEF members use code names with the theme of spices and herbs, which is why she would go by the name Lal Mirch. As for her last name? I just thought it flowed well…

Colonnello: The account @/alternativeann made a post about Arcobaleno names as well, and they gave the name Marcelo Colton to Colonnello and I absolutely loved it. I hope they’re okay with me using it as well, since it just suits him so well. I also love the idea he’s part American. 

Verde: Another first name I had contemplated going with is Victor but Raphaël won me over in the end. Like many others, I do go with the idea he’s French, specifically from France. And no offense to the French, but he fits the pompous, and rude stereotype they have.

Skull: Vitaly because it means life! You get it? B-because he’s the immortal stuntman… Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, haha… I'll admit the last name is chosen completely at random. Oh, but someone on discord mentioned to me that they’ve seen Vasya used for Skull and I like that one a lot too!

Viper/Mammon: Essentially, my thought process was that, since Mammon is a biblical figure (not the KHR character but the actual Mammon), I should pick a biblical name for their real name. I’ll admit this now though, I grew up Buddhist, so I’m not the most familiar with the bible… For the last name I decided to make Mammon English and once again play into the biblical theme. This is the one I struggled with the most, so if anyone has better ideas please let me know! Fon: The exact characters are 周風, Fēng just being an alternate Romanization of Fon. It’s still the same character used and, since Fon also works as a name, I could see him just going by his given name. As well, because I'm a little split on the idea of him originally being part of the Mafia (or Triad) before he was cursed. I could also just see him being a famed martial artist or civilian of some form.

Character Work

Got an ask the other day that asked me how I developed a character, and there was no room to go into it on that ask at all, but I did want to note something. As a fic writer I feel pretty unqualified to write on how to create a character, but I do have something specific I want to say that I've been thinking for a while. I'll keep it just to that. I'll also say that I'm talking exclusively about writing, and not how you engage with fandom. It is, in fact, extremely fun to make an endless series of meaningless headcanons for random dudes. I'm just talking about in terms of how you approach the character from a writing perspective. Which is...

Your OC makes a bad character.

I mean your Dungeons and Dragons character. I mean the character you have a character sheet for, the character you've thought about for years, the one that you are extremely fond of and who feels like a real person to you. The character that is the character, and to change them would feel like changing a person.

Characters should feel like real people to the reader, but as the writer you cannot think of them as people. They are plot devices and a function of the story. They don't need to be fleshed out before you start writing. The actual creation of the character should take place in the outlining and drafting process.

I'm not saying you aren't allowed to stop and think about their favorite grilled cheeses or their sign. There's a few lists of good questions to ask yourself about your characters before you start writing them, such as their desires and their home lives, but the list of actual questions you need to answer are short. And you should try to stop there, because otherwise you're going to over-develop your character and it's going to get in the way of the story.

Assuming you're writing a character focused story, the character's journey is the plot's journey. But the character and the plot exist in relationship to each other. I think of them as two interlocking gears - some things in the plot just can't happen because Character A wouldn't do that, but some things need to happen for the plot to work, so Character A needs to be the kind of person who would do that. Both the character and the plot are in service of what the story is about (Theme, moral, message, etc). These three things have to line up, and they can't overpower each other. You shouldn't try and make round pegs fit in square holes. If a character doesn't fit in with what you want the story to be about (if the story's about vanity and your character doesn't care about vanity) then you need to change one of those things. You can bend the entire plot and meaning of the story around the character, but damn you better have a character who makes a really fantastic story.

You need a character that makes a good story. Some characters don't make good stories, and you need to work super hard to create a story that fits them. That's fine - that can create a unique and great story. Your character has to be consistent and work along their own internal logic. That is shit you absolutely have to stop and work out in the outlining process. Your character needs to make decisions that feel right to the reader - really good stories have the character making the worst possible decision, but in a way that makes the reader understand that they couldn't have done anything else and still been that character. And, like, obviously, give your characters faults and have them make mistakes. A character who does not do that cannot carry a plot.

Fic writers struggle with this. Of course you...shouldn't...be me and completely disregard every characterization, but I do think you can run into the same problem with your blorbo as your D&D character.

This feels kind of obvious, but sometimes I think people don't feel that way. We write fanfic because we like the characters, and we'd rather use these characters and this setting than use our own. I see people projecting on these characters a lot. Like, a lot a lot. It gets to the point where an attack on the character feels like a personal attack - where people defend the character as if they're a real person because they ID so much w/the character. We all know this is dumb, but it also makes for some really shitty fic. The writer becomes completely unwilling to bend the character at all. And they don't try to make the character good for a story, because that kind of involves a lot of faults and mistakes that they don't like seeing their blorbos make. I sound dismissive but it's pervasive. The character becomes a character who makes them feel good instead of a well-written function of the story. The story suffers. Which is alright for some stories, but if you're writing a heavily character focused story like a lot of fic, then nothing is really propping up this story or making it engaging.

None of that is how I develop a character but that is what I wanted to say about characters lol (fwiw, how an OC is created for me is: "I need a character in this spot or representing this thing. Yoink!"). Of course I spoke hyperbolically and took a hard stance on all of that, haha, and of course all of this is rule of thumb. I'm sure your OC is wonderful. Just don't get caught up in them, okay? Go write. The best possible OC is an OC who is born from a good story. That's how you get rich and real characters.

Idea for a story

if i ever finish rolecall (a fic about the tribunal post-nerevar's death and pre-ascension) i plan to write out the conversation sotha sil had with almalexia and vivec when he returned and revealed he'd learned how to use kagrenac's tools. which-- hang on this is actually an unpopular opinion let me move onto the next question

Unpopular opinion

most of the fandom seems to have this idea that sotha sil is somehow less guilty than almalexia and vivec in the betrayal of nerevar, when in reality i actually see him as MORE guilty. sotha sil was the only one who knew how to use the tools of kagrenac. almalexia and vivec may have murdered nerevar or agreed to break their oath but they never could have achieved godhood without sotha sil. so it seems like there's this weird belief that sotha sil is the only remorseful tribune or the only one not to blame, but-- he is the ONLY one of them who actually knew how to use the tools. he had the EXCLUSIVE power to make that happen. including almalexia and vivec was mere kindness on his part. the only canonical part of the betrayal we're certain of, the breaking of the oath, is entirely on him.

Favorite relationship

once again it has got to be the tribunal here. but specifically i'm obsessed with his relationship with almalexia-- the fact that they were apparently childhood friends, the fact that he was apparently scared of her, the fact that he remained so close to her throughout his entire life and godhood. i think they were very codependent; they both went through so much shit as mortals i think they just latched onto each other in a bad way, and sotha sil at least knew it would end with one of them dead at the other's hands.

also, fa-nuit-hen seems to have a crush on him? good for sotha sil with whatever hijinks precipitated THAT

Favorite headcanon

that he was disabled and had prosthetic legs as a mortal. in my mind his being disabled influenced both his interest in technology and his extreme desire to make things better for people. related; that his chief character flaw is that he cares too much about people and is driven by empathy to the point where it can overwhelm him and shut him down, hence his repeated chronic retreating from the world

okay so here's just a random list of stuff i've been meaning to write about almalexia that i'll probably never get around to so consider it free game. in no particular order:

the story of almalexia's involvement in resurrecting wulfharth during the akaviri war, and whatever the hell her involvement was there

a conversation between almalexia and heita-meen negotiating the end to argonian slavery, and almalexia's subsequent personal involvement in making that happen

just. almalexia being a war-leader. almalexia showing up in battles to just destroy things. almalexia planning out wars. almalexia scaring the shit out of people who might cause trouble for the dunmer.

relatedly-- mortal almalexia serving as nerevar's general, offering her expertise on the nords to plan battles

Persona aus are just so fitting for jekyll and hyde! I'm honestly extremely surprised that theres not really any persona aus out there considering how well the series fits with the whole... well everything of the main themes of jekyll and hyde! Hiding parts of yourself and having them take personification and be uncovered whether you want to or not is mostly the two main themes of both persona and jekyll and hyde so why not mix them together?

First of all, YEAH! Persona aus go with Jekyll and Hyde just incredibly well for two completely different medias. Physical incarnations of all the inner feelings that you repress and don't admit to anyone, not even yourself? Having to face them and maybe even fight with them? They just work very well.

I've already said most of my ideas for the persona au and, unfortunately, I haven't come up with anything majorly new since then but I can think about smaller headcanons and stuff that I haven't considered before

Major Plot Headcanons

Comic Occurances

The Persona au does follow a lot of the comic. Aside from Jekyll's experiment to split the human psyche having a different result, they're still dealing with mad science and society at large hating them, Moreau still comes chasing Frankenstein (But the situation ends without a fire because there's no Hyde around), and Jekyll still gets very stressed over the exhibition. But great news! Jekyll's mental state is now connected to a whole separate world so a poor mental state for Jekyll means a horrific and dangerous imbalance between worlds that could destroy both worlds as we know it rather than just an imbalance between his two forms!

Whoopsy. Let's hope he doesn't get back together with Lanyon, letting him become happy and creating the final crack in his mental state that could cause the end times themselves.

Hyde's Powers

As I've mentioned before, Hyde is a shapeshifter - his form as 'Hyde' isn't his original form but one he made up because he wanted to separate himself away from his identity as Jekyll as much as possible. Perhaps even from seeing Eli in the other world once and copying his appearance, not knowing what that form would come to mean to Rachel.

Hyde can shapeshift into any person, whether made-up or real. His clothes remain the same when he changes and his eyes are always yellow so he tragically can't mess around with Lanyon and the gang too much with his powers. However, he does use his powers to relentlessly mock people, turning into them and doing impressions. It can also be used in palaces - other shadows don't tend to be bright enough to be suspicious about the changed clothes so he can change into other cognitions to sneak into places.

He can't change into anything non-human - However, if the shadow ruling a palace views people in some different way (For example Rachel's palace cognitions tend to be a lot of cute, little, helpless, and very fragile animals), Hyde can turn into that form solely in the palace due to the owner's cognition of humans.

Lanyon and the Wild Card

Lanyon meanwhile is the least willing Wild Card in existence and probably the worst you can be at it.

He gets freaked out at the Velvet room and Igor and probably does his best to avoid needing to go there. He also probably sucks at talking to shadows to convince them to join his party. Overall, it takes a long time before he picks up more than one or two persona at once out of his sheer reluctance. If he wasn't forced into the other world every night, he probably wouldn't go at all.

Bonus points if I include the headcanon where people's personas can talk to them constantly because Lanyon would just be having the worst time in that case.

Rachel: I think it's very nice that we have our Personas to talk to, it's like we're never alone!

Lanyon, listening to about 10 voices bickering in his mind over whether or not to tell Jekyll his feelings: .............Yeah, sure thing Rachel.

Jekyll, with only one persona but that persona is Hyde: ................

Hyde in Jekyll's body

When Hyde ends up in Jekyll's body by accident, it goes about the same as the comic right now with Hyde causing mayhem. Jekyll is also in there for the ride and, while he's not having the best time, he also gets to be incredibly confused on top of this.

For fun, since the connection between the two of them is already very messed up by Jekyll's experiments, Hyde can possibly continue taking control of Jekyll's body when he pleases even after he's become a proper Persona and everyone who knows about it has to constantly try to stop him doing anything weird. After all they're still dealing with the comic-typical mad science hatred from society and, if anyone catches on to the other world (and especially how dangerous it is) or Hyde, they'll all be in a lot of trouble.

The moment Jekyll's eyes go yellow, about 10 people tackle him at once.

Navigators

Hyde gets to be the navigator first because he doesn't have a persona to fight with like everyone else - he's basically the Teddy of the group - but that will eventually get replaced with someone with a proper persona for it. I'm not sure who the navigator will be yet but perhaps Ito? Or maybe Jasper since he's very good at reading people and all? Unclear.

Minor Headcanons

Rachel has absolutely brought her sewing supplies to the other world to attempt to dress Hyde. If there wasn't such a time constraint to their visits, she would have succeeded.

Hyde's favourite place to visit is a palace in the other world that takes the form of a bar which can give you any drinks you could possibly dream of. He's been kicked out numerous times but keeps shapeshifting into new forms to get back in

Frankenstein is definitely bitter that Lanyon gets the super cool powers and not her. She probably got even more ticked off to find he actively avoids using them as much as possible. (Worst of all is when she finds out that he does his utmost best to avoid using any persona with the same arcana as her. That probably leads to an outright fight)

Most of the lodgers inventions probably work in the other world whether they work in the real world or not due to the cognitive nature of it. As long as the frightened society believes they would work, they do. Unfortunately, this usually means they're more on the dangerous, weaponry side than anything useful because that's how society sees them but, hey, at least the lodgers can have whatever cool weapons they want.

Speaking of the lodgers, they would absolutely swarm on the cognitive world to check out what it can and can't do, hauling inventions over to find out what they do in the space of another world. The main gang have to keep the other world a secret just to stop someone running off and getting themselves killed in the name of discovery

Rachel's cooking and baking definitely has a healing effect in the other world. If it wasn't for Jasper, the lodgers would be curious over why she can be seen hefting around tables-worth of pastries, cookies, and chicken legs around at near-midnight. (Lanyon, tragically, doesn't get such an excuse as he buys bulkloads of weapons and armour off lodgers in exchange for the weirdest things that he just seems to keep obtaining like multiple busts of Frankenstein (?) or piles and piles of birdcages (???) or plants literally nobody on earth has ever seen before (?!?!?!) The gossip mill is certainly churning.)

Arcanas aren't something I've considered in the past because I wasn't sure what determined each arcana for each person but they are a major part of Persona and, therefore, a fun thing to fill in for the au. Possibly less interesting from the perspective of someone reading this, hence why I've left it to the end but you did say you wanted all the little bits and bobs so...

Fool - Lanyon

Obviously, as the wildcard, Lanyon gets the Fool arcana. Looking into it some more on the Fandom wiki, "The Fool is often called a fool because of his lack of understanding of the world, yet that is also his greatest strength, as his actions are so radically different from others that it impacts the world in ways no one would imagine." I never thought about it before but it does fit Lanyon in other ways too as the character in TGS who is less involved in the mad science side of things. He's more of an outsider to the world that he is currently in and holds less understanding of it than the other lodgers but it also makes him more open to making different decisions.

Yes, this role could fit Jasper much better but I like Lanyon a lot and, therefore, I am gifting him Protagonist privileges and that means the Wild Card. Favouritism.

Magician - Hyde

Next arcana needs to be the Magician since they are generally the right hand man to the Fool. "Characters of the Magician Arcana are normally bright and ambitious yet arrogant. They lack purpose or a dream, which they normally find through the help of their friendship of the respective protagonist." in the Megami Tensei wiki which would probably fit Hyde. He's arrogant, ambitious but lacking purpose besides running around having fun.

Moreover, Magicians are "strong in magic and illusion." which is fitting for how I've made Hyde a shapeshifter. Given that he's Jekyll's shadow and Jekyll himself tends to hide himself and project whatever version of himself he thinks people want to see, an illusionist seems fitting indeed. (Also, Magicians apparently get an innate boost to fire magic and, uh *cough* Hyde's arson *cough*)

Lovers - Rachel

Next is Rachel who I think would fit the Lovers arcana? Though it might be more of a stretch. "The theme of the Lovers Arcana revolves around choice, but the concept normally leaves them in what is secretly a dilemma with no right choice. With the help of the protagonists, the characters take a step back and find a balance between both options, or outright change their perspective on the choices they need to make, reconsidering what truly needs to be sacrificed." Which I think would fit Rachel's dilemma with her brother Eli - needing to find a balance between smothering the people around her and dealing with the pain of her loss? She does, after all, voice in the comic that she always seems to end up going too far and driving people away, wanting to stop but being unable to because then she has to face "the hole" where Eli used to be again. A perspective that is outright changed in the comic by finding Ito, someone who genuinely wants to be fussed over.

Moreover "A commonality among individuals of the Lovers Arcana is their popularity, cheerfulness, and their emphasis on social interaction. Lovers characters are almost always the "popular" ones, if not, then they are the "spirited" ones." which seems to fit Rachel? She's certainly spirited.

Death - Frankenstein

Then, of course, Frankenstein is the Death arcana, no question. She's associated with death because of her experiments and all and Death arcanas' "lives have a strong focus on someone that they care for dearly, but are separated from due to some form of tragedy. They carry great guilt inside for this tragedy, despite carrying little to no responsibility for causing it. It's through the bond with the protagonist that they're able to forgive themselves and look to the future with hope." Which, yeah, Frankenstein and Elizabeth. Admittedly, Frankenstein is very much involved in causing Elizabeth's death but I feel like I need to make some stretches here. She has the guilt, she has the tragedy, and she has the death.

Hermit - Jasper

Jasper I think should be the Hermit arcana? "Hermit Arcana characters share the commonality of placing themselves in situations that hide them from the public eye. Hermit individuals hide away from others or act in more supportive roles rather than putting themselves in the spotlight." Jasper supports Jekyll in many ways but dislikes putting himself in the spotlight. Admittedly, I think Frankenstein's Creature could also be this arcana but I also don't think they would get involved at all in anything going on.

Empress - Ito

Ito I think would be the Empress arcana? "They are often stoic, but still present a high degree of care and concern towards others, and like queens, they are mature, elegant, often wealthy, and dangerous when challenged." Ito is stern but still caring towards others and I can imagine her being dangerous when she wants to be but I'll admit that I'm less sure on this one if anyone else has a more fitting suggestion.

"The Empress Arcana often find ways to break out of their strict authority by opening up to their personal, normal and emotional selves; organic traits that do not conform to their responsibilities, expectations and image." Which I could relate to her opening up to Rachel and wanting to do girly things with her?

Lucy could also fit the Empress arcana, being wealthy, mature, and dangerous. Heck, she's even called Queen Lucy. However, she doesn't seem to have any journey she needs to take about opening up to herself - she seems pretty comfortable as the person she is and she seems pretty able to open up without help.

Temperance - Jekyll

Then, of course, Jekyll. I'm going with Temperance for him but I'm sure there are other fitting arcanas. "Characters of the Temperance Arcana are often struggling to find a balance in their lives and in their hobbies, dealing with severe stress but putting great effort into hiding it. This imbalance and stress come from the absence of someone that they greatly cared for, usually through death." Hiding severe stress and balance, huh? The absence of someone they cared for which I'm arguing could be Lanyon and their relationship.

Sure, nobody died but it's an arcana about balancing one's life, it fits very well with Jekyll.

Social links

From there, arcana gets a bit more difficult because we have a lot of lodgers and I don't know who would and wouldn't be involved yet. Neither do we know a lot about them so there would need to be a few headcanons involved.

However, the tarots come from social links, from whoever has a bond with the Wild Card, that being Lanyon, so I suppose throughout the au, Lanyon would need to slowly befriend a bunch of people. Which would be interesting because I don't think Lanyon would want to befriend them. Another way that he is very reluctant to be a Wild Card.

I think with the whole mystery going on with the other world and such, Lanyon would be reluctantly forced to ask around in the society to try to figure out what is going on, accidentally forcing him to befriend people along the way and learn more about them and whoops, you're friends now.

Further than that?

There's a lot of gaps because my focus lies mostly on Lanyon, Hyde, and Rachel and I'm willing to hear other people's ideas if anyone has any! Palaces, party members, headcanons, personas, arcana, just anything anyone has ideas on. Persona has a lot of ideas that one needs to fill to the point where I'm learning that making an au for it is so expansive that it feels like a multiple person job.

Moreover, if you ever want to talk about your own persona au, anon, I would be very excited to hear it too!!! I would love to hear what other ideas people can come up with because there's a lot of room in a persona au for ideas! Just the question of who takes the role of the Wild Card opens up a ton of possibilities, not to mention which Persona games you want to take the most inspiration from!

Headcanons bit first: Scary absolutely had to have PURPLE somewhere on her (because Warlock, patron 'pact' is a Purple Robe ..etc etc etc…) The t-shirt wasn't to be too badly damaged yet because wasn't sure if would find a full fishnet shirt to wear under it OR only like.. those cheap elbow-ish length arm-warmers. If a skirt was to be involved it hadda be plaid and match other shit in the outfit* She's also a former sports kid, which somehow overlapped in my head with her still owning like 'sport branded' clothes, and either cutting off or just like badly ripping out logos, this is why holes in a specific spot *Shut up brain, we aren't literally tryin to recreate what wore back in ancient days of 2003 with the shortest-sleeves tops and long-sleeved fishnet shirts under, it paired with plaid mini-skirts

At first was gonna slap some elastic inside the waistband nope, it bulks up too much, plus the skirt is too damn long on me!

OH RIGHT THEY CUT THE PRINT WRONG, and here I was tryin for the easy way of eyeballing it: folding fabric by orienting to the vertical stripes printed on it

Now this is gettin personal! It is 2 in the freakin morning, and it's seam-ripper time. Everyone plz visualize this gremlin sittin on the floor, balancing an iron on her lap, ironing out the fabric to start over

Took apart everything, cut off a portion at the top (didn't wanna deal with rehemming entire bottom later, so shortening skirt goin up instead), do some damn MATH and start folding pleats with a ruler Not trusting fabric to drift yet again, baste every thing down, press everything remember kids, hips to waist difference exist! if you're doing pleats Do fold at slight angle, pin both top and bottom of pleat "closed" and try on. If your math is right it will fit both at waist and hips w/out twisting outta shape Also, if you're gonna do any sort of temporary stitching, use obnoxiously contrasting-color thread! You want it Very Visible for easier later removal

blah blah, trim the length off the waistband piece, sew everything together. Have a skirt now! Plain long-sleeved shirt goes under the black one. Now that shirt situation all sorted - took scissors to sleeves and whatnot. Fistful of safety pins to keep them together. Looks like my clothes are very red and black, so the PURPLE will need to be in hair

at this point we remember fanart exists... or more specifically @midnigtartist because I saw those space-buns and was like ... yes... fuck yes that's whats happening with my hair for the thing!

Also since she drew that check-pattern belt, and im here like hmmm, wasn't gonna have a belt but do have one in that exact colorway... Why not!

Was planning on wearing bike-shorts under the skirt - but this fanart does bring a good point - leggings! Dug up some tights didn't really care for, stuck a safety-pin on one side (to mark where front is, and it just kinda lives there now), cut them shorter (again, just drawing lines on 'em with soap while wearing them) and then (as per that silly holes headcanon) carefully sliced in some tears

Now its just down to lil bits and ends ... and HT failing me yet again because apparently ridiculous bracelets with studs is no longer a thing, they all about cutesy mushrooms, charms and... wannabe bondage garterbelts and chokers? dunno ... is this what kids r into now?

Dug around my room yet again for things to use. The braided-looking bracelets were a gift from a friend just weeks prior. He bought a bunch of those online & they didn't fit him. Plastic "tat" bracelet & choker set have owned for ...ahem... that 2003 mentioned earlier The wide leather cuff came from a RenFaire visit over a decade+ ago. The strip with the studs is a broken headband (wrapped around my wrist, held by safety-pin pilfered from friend's wallet)

cheap purple hairspray from SpiritHalloween (is a damn biohazard! holds up tho), and instead of buying black lipstick just smudged eyeshadow on lips

I cannot pick just one here. Beatnik Boi and Furachi na Kassai both by Police Piccadilly have a special place in my heart. The first one reminds me of one of my favorite characters and the second makes me feel melancholic in a good way. Both have Kafu sounding very human and emotional, ready to break in tears at any moment

I ALSO GOTTA MENTION MY BLOG'S THEME: CH4NGE by Giga. The composition is on point and catchy, as expected from him, and the illustration ohmygodOHMYGOD!!! kafu sounds so cool. she is so cool.

Hatsune Miku cause I made up a whole story about them in my head ( ´ ▽ ` ).｡ｏ♡ where Miku gets lowkey jealous of how Kafu got mad popular so quickly, cause she doesnt want to be robbed of her queen of vocaloid/vocal synthesizers title by a newcomer. she acts like she couldnt care less though. meanwhile kafu is completely oblivious to this and just keeps doing her thing, until miku one day decides to actually attend one of her concerts/meet her in person. Genshin Impact AU: Teapot Tinies (Masterpost)

I got this idea from @weirdsht post, I’ve always enjoyed miniatures, and tiny stuff so this idea/headcanon really got my brain working. The brain rot is contagious bby! So I took weirdsht’s idea and made an AU from it (I really hope that’s okay!)

This Au is set in modern times (of course), The Genshin Impact Characters are just that Characters, not IRL beings just characters. I just wanted to get that out of the way first. Genshin Impact is a little bit more popular in this AU than in our timeline, but only popular in the sense that Mihoyo has enough clout and money to spent to time to work on a completely new experience that different from their usual bag of MMO/video games. In This AU, Mihoyo Labs is working on a project know as the “Teapot Project” or “Project: Teapot”, a project where the Genshin Impact Characters come to life in fun-size form, and they have chosen reader to be a beta tester for their project and have them document their experience as a Tea holder.

How to Get A Teapot

In the story I’m currently writing (yes, I’ve already started writing on fic based on this ONE POST, that’s how bad the brain rot is, but in the BEST way possible) there is no set way one can get a teapot. In the story and AU Reader is the only person who has access to the Teapot Project , aside from Mihoyo Labs. The way it happens is pretty random, but I do imply that Reader likes Genshin SO MUCH and is SO ACTIVE in the community that they seem like the prefect person for the job (also the golden rule of main character enegry,lol).

After accepting the offer in the initial email, they are giving another email featuring a link that sends them to a page fashioned like a web event page, the reader is prompt to pick a tea, and all the teas are based on genshin characters, after the pick their choice, the teapot app is automatically downloaded to their phone. A few days later a package will arrived with a teapot, a teabag, doll house shelf and a few mini accessories.

Teapot Project

After seeing how popular the Hangout Events are among the Genshin fanbase, seeing the amount of fan-fiction, and other fan-based material, Mihoyo got the idea that they could take Hangout Events to the next level, but bring everyone’s fave characters into the real-world in fun size form.

Tea Holder

The Tea holder is what the reader is referred to by Mihoyo in the Teapot App and through E-mails for privacy reason.

Teas

Teas are codenames for the Genshin characters each character’s tea name are their constellation names (alternatively Tea Minis, or Minis for short, this name is coined by the tea holder themslves )

Ex. Lisa’s Tea codename would be Tempus Fugit

Teapots

Teapots are the containers that hold well tea, much like a regular tea container but slightly bigger. The tea holder is shipped a package, once they accept Mihoyo’s offer. In the package are the teapot, the tea (in tea bag form) and accessories.

The Teapots are also region based; so, the Inazuma characters can only be steeped in the Inzuma themed teapot. When the tea holder gets a new mini from different region they get the region’s teapot, free of charge.

Furniture, clothes, weapons, and acessories

When the tea holder is shipped the package, it comes with all the furniture and accessories the tea mini will need. The package also comes with one doll house style shelf for the mini(s) to live. The furniture is like Rement miniature furniture by just with a Genshin Impact theme. It comes with a basic bedroom set, and other amenities or reactional stuff the tea holder will want their mini to have will have to come out of their own pocket or be made by themselves.

So if you want to spoil your mini by making them their own arcade area, than you can if you have the money and or skills to make one.

Teapot App

The Teapot App is the app that appears on the tea holder’s phone after they join the teapot project. On the phone, it just looks like app that about making tea or teapots in general, it doesn’t like any app anybody who might steal or look at the tea holder’s phone would have any interest in looking farther into. The icon for the teapot app is the Serenitea Pot.

The app can be used to check Tea holder’s mini(s) vitals, to see if they’re sick or hungry, in a bad mood, etc. It has note-taking/journal section for Tea holder to use to document their experinces as a tea holder, these notes/entries are only seen by Mihoyo Labs, and the tea holder. The teapot has a section for cloud storage where all media related to the minis is held; pictures, videos, and such are store here automically if the phone detects there’s mini in the photo/video. The tea holder can’t share this files on any soicals or any of genshin related from in fear of leaks, if a leak is found The tea holder will have their minis taken away and their Mihoyo account banned. There’s a section to the app for getting another mini, The tea holder doesnt have to pay for it, but they will have to wait about a month in between, so the other mini(s) can get used to the newbie mini, and so the teaholder doesn’t get overwhelmed.

Teas/mini(s)

How a mini comes to be

When the Tea holder gets a their selected teapot (or a new teapot for the first time) it comes with a tea bag with the design of the selected characters constellation (at first I said it was a lotus, but just a reagular tea bag makes more sense and is equally aesthetically pleasing). Through the teapot app, the Tea holder is instrcuted to make the mini tea as if they were making any other tea, the only thing those is that this tea has steep overnight and its also instructed that the teapot be place some where the outside light can hit it (i.e a windowsill or a counter near a window) . Once the sun comes up the teapot glows and the new mini steps out.

The Mini(s) are about the same sizes as nendoroid, and look like one too.

The Mini(s) act exactly like their characters in genshin, and have the same relationships in the game as they do being a mini. They enjoy the same activities (even if those activities have to be down sizes) and they will be pull towards the similar/modern versions of their activites/hobbies’s equal.

The mini keep all of their skills from genshin, for example if the tea holder gets a working mini oven, Xiangling will be attracted to cooking with it, but she has enough cooking skills where can even help the tea holder with their cooking skills, too.

The mini(s) dont really need much maintaining for the most part, they act like shemjis or animal crossing characters where they will just wonder off on their own activites and adventures, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be handful or randomly start fights with other another.

Mini(s) speak in their own mini language, its kind of like simlish, but even if the Tea holder doesn’t understand exactly what their mini(s) is/are saying, they very expressive beings and usually have their expression on their face or its just obvious by vibes.

The Teaholder can give the mini(s) gifts to increase their relationship with a mini, when a mini likes or wants something (and they can’t get themsleves) they’ll look at it longingly or straight up point to it fantically (based on their personality).

If a mini feels ignored or is constantly starting fights with other minis without a resolve, than a mini might run away (this is mostly based on the mini’s personality, if they like being alone than they’ll just stay).

The mini(s) can get around on their own by using their guilders or just climbing stuff, its the one reason why the doll house shelf doesn’t have stairs, minis just climb stuff.

You can and are allowed to take the mini(s) outside and public areas, when a mini is spotted by (another) an adult they have a instinctive ablity to strike a pose or hide in a Teaholders pocket/bookbag or purse a post as long as they see the adult before the adult sees them. If a child sees a mini in action that’s fine because one could brush it off as a child’s over active imagination if they told another person, and their on video or photographically evidence .

The Secret

In Theory one could still share images and video to the public about their minis, if they’re able to hack the teapot app, but the Tea holder is still in danger of getting in trouble. IF they can make up a good excuse to what is being show or what an outsider NOT apart of the project is seeing, than the holder is in the clear. IF they can then bad ending. Under this theory, the holder could share the secret with someone they really really trust not spill the tea (heh…heh…see what I did there,AYEE).

This Au has a similar vibe to “How To Keep A Mummy” anime, The Littles, a little bit of Arrietty and “If you give a mouse a cookie”, A Little Snow Fairy Sugar anime, and other books in “If you give a (animal) a (food)” series of kids’ books.

This Au is meant to be chill, fun, and cute; mostly a fluffy AU, but giving that the mini(s) can run away if ignore, angst could be added

Thats it that's about all I have to say in terms of this AU, I might talk about some parts more indept later in another post...

Since there's no real theme in this question it'll all just be random headcanons

✭They work in Postal services, more of a side job besides their farming. Every morning they collect mail and deliver it around by foot to different communities. It's their favorite part of the morning and they usually take their dog, Rex, along with them to deliver the mail. They also collect stamps and have a growing collection.

✭Kainga names every single of of their livestock, sheep, fluffy cows etc. Nobody knows how on earth they remember which is which and the induvial names.

✭On top of that, their gender is a complete mystery. In fact they're awfully laid back about it and look completely androgynous. They don't see the disadvantages or advantages of assigning themselves a gender and it has never bothered them, they find it hilarious when others get confused and try to guess what it is when they reply with "What do you think I am?"

✭They take much pride in being the only pacific nation to never be completely 'Colonized' by a foreign power. And they are awfully close with their King and Queen of the Islands and serving their monarchy.

✭Even for a nation, they're very solitude and prefer to be alone. At least alone from other people, they like to be out on their farm surrounded by their peaceful nature and livestock. They enjoy the quieter parts of everyday life like baking, knitting, reading and taking walks on the beach. They never describe themselves as lonely, they're rather independent and are happy enough with their own self company

✭They're an excellent jeweler, especially with making proper traditional items of jewellery that are epidemic to Tonga and island life overall. These include various shell, flower and flax necklaces and bracelets which they then sell off at local markets. All the shells they use they collect off of beaches and have a growing shell collection in their house.

✭Living on a farm, they take full advantage of farm life to the maximum. They grow fruits, vegetables and berries which are then used to create different unique recipes. As well as jewellery, they sell off potted jams, fruit and herbal teas, honeys, baked goods and fresh produce from their farm.

✭They love senses of communities and love joining in for services to help and strengthen communities they're a part of. Even the small things matter to them, like selling their products to locals for cheap for participating in beach clean ups.

This is sort of random but as I was enjoying all your Katherine Plumber posts, I had this thought and wanted to hear your opinion… Do you think that if Atti and Orla were in a Newsies AU, Atti would be Katherine (they’re both clever, academic, & from wealth/well educated but open-minded) and Orla would be Jack (they’re both scrappy, resourceful, passionate about justice & fiercely loyal to “their people”)? Not to mention the whole diplomacy vs. aggression dichotomy. Katherine & Atti are very much “we can talk this out and reason to a solution” whereas Jack & Orla are more “let’s go rough stuff up” 😂

Hi Acacia!! I hope you're doing well too. Honestly, I sprained my ankle when I was running to catch a train yesterday, but seeing this ask in my inbox once I got home cheered me right up. Thank you so much for this ask because you have accidentally given me an opportunity to talk about how I have a real category when it comes to my faves.

The thing about my Newsies obsession and my (current, technically I've been obsessed since it came out) Horrible Histories: The Movie obsession is that they actually started around the same time. Maybe a month apart, but basically the same time almost exactly three years ago. So my interest in both has developed together and I definitely do think that if I were to put Atti and Orla into a direct Newsies AU, Orla would be Jack and Atti would be Katherine, both for the personality traits that you pointed out and where they exist within the power structures each story is about. But I also think that I'm interested in Katherine for a lot of the same reasons I'm interested in Orla - they seem so different on the surface but there are some common themes there. 

Orla and Kath are the basis for a category of characters I've been calling my pseudo-nepo-babies lately, not quite what you imagine when someone says 'nepo-baby' but it still feels like they have a strange distorted form of nepotism behind them. Before this category was expanded to include my medical drama fave, I just called them the historical daughters of powerful men club. Which doesn’t even really cover it. The thing that really draws me into Katherine is her relationship with Pulitzer. While Atti/Orla is the main factor in my obsession with the HH movie, Orla's relationship with Arghus is probably the reason I gravitate more towards her. Ages ago, I made a post saying that Orla & Arghus and Katherine & Pulitzer are on complete opposite ends of my Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA to Never Love an Anchor by The Crane Wives sliding scale of historical father-daughter relationships, and I stand by that. So there's that element: something about imperfect and complex and even outright unhealthy (in the case of the Pulitzers) family relationships and weird-nepotism is the common denominator across all my faves.

I guess I also think they're both quite a lot like their dads in some ways, as well. I talk about Katherine being like Pulitzer a lot, because my version of her is secretly proud to know that she’s the most like him out of all her siblings (and is a bit doomed by that pride). I don't talk about it nearly as much with Orla and Arghus because it's harder to explain exactly what I think, but some of Orla's best traits are ones you can also see in her dad yet I don't think she is proud of it at all. Orla loves her dad but she wants to be like her mum and I guess the best way to describe what I think is happening there is that Orla knows she is too much like her dad to be able to be enough like her mum, and she doesn’t like that. I don’t have the brain power to expand on it right now, and it would absolutely derail the post into me talking about my headcanons about Orla’s parents, but that’s how I see it. There's also something in there with them both doing the same 'jobs' as their dad's, but Katherine and Pulitzer both chose to go into journalism while Orla and Arghus were both born to rule the tribe. So there's that element of characters being more like parental figures than they would like to admit. 

I think stuff to do with culture is also a big part of how I see them even if canon might not focus on it so much with Katherine - Orla as a part of the first generation to grow up under Roman rule and Katherine as a second generation immigrant. Loyalty and betrayal comes up a lot. This is nowhere near everything I could say, but there are some themes that show up across a lot of my faves in very different ways, and the things I focus on about Orla and Katherine are often the extremes of how those things could show up. They're so different but I like them for similar reasons so they exist in the same category of character in my personal interpretation of them.

Anyway, to finally actually answer your ask, despite them being a part of this same category of character I've invented, I do think that Orla has more in common with Jack and Katherine has more in common with Atti in terms of their personalities and how they approach things. Also, with Newsies' focus on class and the HH movie's focus on the Roman Empire, I think they are in more comparable positions within those systems - Jack and Orla are as the people struggling under/against them, while Katherine and Atti unwillingly benefit from the systems. Of course, there are plenty of ways that Katherine (as a woman) and Atti (as an un-Roman Roman) are limited within these system, and ways that Jack (as a man) and Orla (as the daughter of a chief, specifically within Celtic society) have power in them, too. Another thing about Atti and Katherine that I've just thought of: the way they would use writing. I imagine that as Katherine gets older she just gets more and more involved with writing articles about workers' rights and working class struggles. Similarly, the longer Atti spends in Britain, the more he realises that some Roman accounts of Britain aren't quite fair or accurate and he begins to write down his own experiences to try and set the record straight. 

I don't know how to wrap this up now because so many things are in my head: I totally agree with you, I also have a real type of character I like to obsess over, thank you SO MUCH for giving me an opportunity to ramble, and I hope you didn't mind getting such a rambly response too much!
