Thank you for getting me to finally try pixel art! I‘ve always wanted to get into pixel art but I never knew what to start with and always ended up procrastinating. Your blog and the post you made on learning pixel art were what finally pushed me to give it a go. It was really helpful and I managed this little animation in Libresprite.

I definitely want to improve and your art is like the ultimate goal lol. Do you have any tips or instructions for how to get better or on what to focus on in the future? I‘d appreciate any kind of criticism/input you are willing to give! How do you manage to make such gigantic and beautiful landscapes?

i can help a little with animation stuff but i'm not an expert, ill write something out about backgrounds at the end

i hope you don't mind but i edited the sprite a little, just to illustrate some stuff

🤺Animation stuff

i added an extra frame near the top of the arc so it slows down. this is called ease or slow in/out and usually happens at the beginning and end of movements. u can do even more slow but this is just a quick version

i also removed the middle frame (where the tail is straight down) to make the swing appear a bit more powerful. this could be the principle of timing in the same video. you can exaggerate smears if you do this, its up to you!! lately i tend to exaggerate stuff a lot, things arent super noticable in motion

i also got a good bit of advice from nickwoz that helped me, basically when you begin to animate, it really puts the rest of the sprite being still into focus. try to think of how you could animate other parts of the body, even subtly. and sometimes if individual pixels stay still they can catch the eye in an unintended way as well, just keep it in mind!!

if you want to learn animation more, you could take a look at duelyst sprites, they have incredible idle and ability animations, i study them a lot

heres one i downloaded a long time ago. i recommend just downloading stuff you like and looking at it!! i have a huge collection of pixel inspo. slowing animations down can really help you understand whats going on. its just a bunch of simple elements put together that makes it look so good.

it looks like you have art experience already, but im gonna talk as if youre a complete noob cos it might help some other people who read this!! ur doing great 👍

❓ how to learn: study (and practise a lot)

what i mean by study: draw it, copy it, try to understand it. you can try to change characteristics about it. changing the angle or lighting can help u understand how something works in 3 dimensions.

sometimes it takes time, dont worry, you will figure out your own style through doing studies, its all a process

❓ how to draw landscape details?

study pixel artists and how they do it recommendations: fool, slym, jubilee, deceiver

also please look at real world references!! you got to build that visual library

❓ how to learn composition?

study traditional artists or animation. i did a ton of studies of ghibli backgrounds which i think helped my growth a lot recommendations: arcane, studio ghibli, traditional painters

im gonna break down a piece as well and maybe that will help. this is one from 2022 but its still one of my most popular and its pretty simple too!!

if we remove all the fancy stuff what we have is actually really simple. just a few large, overlapping shapes that all point towards our focal point. it's the brightest area with the most contrast and many edges point into it.

go to pinterest or google and just search "pretty landscape" or "mountains" or something and you can see what i'm doing is nothing special or unique!! break it down into bigger shapes to begin with, its just different areas of material mostly.

and heres how you can make any landscape from any colours. purple sky or mountain? orange grass? ok !! it all works, it doesnt matter. i just blend the colours.

when parts of the landscape are in the distance they become closer to the sky colour as there is more "sky" in between you and it. its called atmospheric perspective. so if the sky was red, the clouds would fade towards red.

OKKK i dont know what else to say so i hope that helps!! honestly 90% of what i do is intuitive and hard for me to really explain, so you dont have to know The Rules, you just kind of pick up stuff as you go.

do you have any art advice for drawing that kind of stylized flowy floral/leaf/vine stuff? I don't even know the right words to call it. I'm making a leather bag for my mom and she likes that sort of thing, but I'm having trouble coming up with a design.

If you mean the type of leafy ornaments seen in antique furniture etc then what you are looking for is Acanthus Ornament.

Some good things to know when drawing acanthus ornaments are the following:

- Acanthus is the ornament that separate antique style eras from modern ones. Art nouveau was the main style era that greatly reduced/omitted the leafy look in a lot of works.

- iirc acanthus is a plant originally from the Mediterranean , its been used for designing ornaments in so many parts of the world through history.

- they are a key indicator of which style era and which country/region it is from. A gothic acanthus from medieval england will look different from a french rococo one.

- that said, baroque and rococo are not the same style but google search often mix them together. Baroque is thicker and more in-your-face, while rococo is thinner and petite.

- there are old books on acanthus in the public domain, im at work rn so i dont have a link to them but they exist and are quite detailed on the rules on how to draw an accurate ornament.

- ornamental drawings follow specific rules because they are originally designed to work as a template for wooodworkers that carved the ornaments for furniture and frames.

- do not exaggerate the curvatures to the point where they turn into spirals. Acanthus ornaments are curvy - NOT SPIRALS. Its often a clear sign if an acanthus design is contemporary just by how many spirals appear in it.

yori is fumiki and heres why: my manifesto

or: wait, we werent all on the same page about this?

i should have written this when i first read chapter 98, but im only getting around to it now. this is less me trying to convince you, the reader, and more hoarding all my collected thoughts on why yori is absolutely fumiki, if its a red herring its a silly one, and if he isnt or if its left ambiguous forever i will eat crow. here we go:

before i start let me say most of my evidence is the way yamazaki frames him visually rather than solid "proof." comics are an artform, theres a reason things get framed the way they do, and her artistic choices in ch 98 (i feel) are meant to serve as a big blinking neon light that says "you should be feeling this way about xyz right now"

iic, there were rumblings of "the young auditor" being fumiki as far back as his introduction in ch 51 due to to his unique ability:

which is essentially a refined version of fumikis innate ability to keep fae away. we know yori is part of a "family business," and it seems appropriate that with the proper training, he would be able to freeze fae in their tracks rather than simply ward them off

unfortunately this is where "evidence" ends and "vibes" begin

chapter 51 didnt get adapted into what was otherwise a pretty faithful adaptation in season 2, and i understand why - theres a lot going on, and this chapter is fairly out of left field. but theres one other quip that got left out of season 2:

this is a one-off thought that wouldnt have been difficult to include in the anime. imo, i believe this line from ch 62 didnt get animated because we hadnt met fumiki yet like we did in the manga. now, onto more recent chapters... (under a read more because this is going to get pretty long)

chise and yoris first meeting is framed in a very purposeful way. in chapter 98, elias is preoccupied with ousting all the outsiders so that he and chise can be alone, stuck on the idea that "christmas is for family only:"

and three pages later, who do we meet?

im really struck by the way chise and yori are drawn together here. personally, i dont read this as "chise is meeting a new unimportant side character," this is "the strings of fate have pulled us miraculously back together again"

waiter! waiter! can i get an order of drifting sakura petals and sparkles with this panel? am i waxing poetic here or do you see it? the way theres no background drawn here, no other characters, even in later pages when we know elias is standing right behind chise, he doesnt get included in frame so that its just the two of them:

while im at it, can we appreciate how theyre wearing the same outfit? black pants and a hip-length dark coat/sweater with oversized pockets, a collar, and six left-sided buttons. yoris dark gloves also evoke chises cursed arm here but i dont want to risk looking like a maniac any more than i already do. i mean... dude, look at them, theyre matching

speaking of matching, lets pop back to 51 for a sec

both yori and chise have canine familiars! actually, it looks like yori might have multiple - look at all those pokeballs i mean bamboo tubes in his coat. if my memory serves, we didnt know yori was japanese at this point, but everyone assumed so because of the appearance of this familiar... which was another log on the "this might be fumiki" fire

fun fact: this little dude is almost certainly a kuda-kitsune, which were said to be kept in tubes and summoned by a soothsayer, who could use it to perform curses, or tell the past and future

and the drama with which we find out his "name":

"i bet you were expecting me to say fumiki, huh. good luck im not giving you that this early you have to work for it." as far as aliases go, "ri" could be derived from "hatori," but neither of the kanji in "fumiki" can be read as "yo," so its probably just random

after yori leaves, we get another repetition of "christmas is for family," which at this point feels like yamazaki is leading us to water and dunking our head in it:

i think its awfully convenient that ruth was absent for chises exchange with yori. do you think he would have been able to smell that theyre related? or whiffed the kuda-kitsune in his coat?

right after this, too, we get this line from elias which i have been thinking about a lot:

theres a few different ways this could be read, so im not married to any one interpretation, but it could be foreshadowing "if chise decides to pursue a relationship with her estranged family, what will i do then?" as gabriella would say, "i hate to be a third wheel"

given what we have seen of yoris aloof personality, i have to imagine there will be drama if/when the reveal is made. sadly i can picture him actually pushing chise away if she tries to reestablish a relationship with him

now! that is pretty much where my thoughts end, but i do want to share questions/doubts i have:

if yori read all of simons reports to determine he was an unfit observer, there is no way he doesnt know chises full name. i wonder whether he had any reaction to it? he may assume that its just a coincidence. i briefly wondered if the hatori name was an invention by yuuki, until i remembered that the family chise stays with in the OVA also has the same name. unless yuuki was adopted by another family like seth...? dont mind me, im going pepe silvia mode over here

have i mentioned i talked about yuuki before in another theory post? take it with a grain of salt, i already got proven wrong on one front now that jasper has been introduced

will yuuki be reintroduced if fumiki is? i desperately want chise to get that closure, but this scene from ch 42 has a sense of finality to it, a sort of "you will never get to resolve things with your father or see his side of things" stank:

... actually, now that ive mentioned the kuda-kitsune, can we look at this thing again?

another word for the kuda-kitsune is "izuna," which is read in modern japanese as "weasel." could the critter whos watching yuuki here come from the same place as yoris familiars? yuuki leaves his family immediately after this - getting summoned maybe?

Man you know what i would really want. Kind of like a site that could compare all duck media (or hell, all disney media would be cool too) and how much people like them. Like put the ducktales finale against a barks 10 pager and see which one people prefer, which one has a higher score. If the entire top 100 would be dominated by comics or if a few animated things would slip in too.

And you cant like compare imdb scores to inducks scores because 1 inducks has a weird rating system, and 2 the people voting are completely different audiences. It’s never gonna be a fair logical comparison. But imagine if there was like a site where they had both and where everyone was equally fan of everything and then they would fairly vote i just want to knowww.

Ratings are cool, but cross media ratings are even cooler. How does episode 3 of the this duckburg life podcast/audioplay compare to Paperino skipper from Giorgio Pezzin. I need to know. Has chapter 5 of totem decapitato a higher rating than the first ever episode of dt87? Do people like the ducktales lost lamp movie more than the solving mysteries and rewriting history book? Has the first story of PKNA more historical significance to the fans than Donalds first ever appearance in general? Will they go as far as rate Evroniani higher than The wise little hen?

These ridiculous questions about things that are impossible to compare but I just want to because it’s fun i need that. Because Duck Avenger: Shadow of venus is completely different from: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: mickey gets sick (or whatever i dont actually remember any episode titles) or Mickey Donald and Goofy go on a roadtrip (whatever that cartoon was with the trailer its a fun one) but they’re somehow also all the same ‘mickey and friends’ franchise. Yknow what who cares about unfair voting. Just compile all the normal unweighted inducks scores, all imdb and letterboxd and rotten tomatoes and whatever more exists ratings, amazon reviews, to videogame ratings that you always see on wikipedia and just put them all together and see what the result is and also implement the inducks ratings because its a very easy and handy rating system and let people rate on the site on too of that.

Okay no dont do that that would be stupid but like all the cartoons and comics and audio things and games and boardgames and books and maybe not boardgames but everything that is a story and see which stories people like the most i just think that would be so cool.

Patrick and Ian play Charles and Erik like they’re a divorced couple who are nice to each other but still passive aggressive.

James and Micheal play a version in which Charles is accidentally seducing Erik and Erik is literally daydreaming about conquering the world together and kiss but Charles isn’t interested in either of those things.

IN MY OPINION

Yeah they are definitely not perfectly aligned 😭 tbf they are 40 years (and i think a timeline?) apart from each other. To me older and younger Charles and Erik align in being obsessed with their friendship, even more than each other as people. Even their ideologies cant get in the way of a cheeky hangout. I honestly got the sense Charles wanted Erik with him way more than Erik did, in First Class. Until the end, which is curious…

The scene in first class where magneto betrays charles is good and bad at the same time. This turned out to be a bigger rant than i anticipated. It will not make sense.

What i dont like: they dont set up “i dont trust you in my brain” at all. I understand that Erik takes after Shaw, but the movie framing it as if it’s Nazi-apologist ideology is crazy. Also isnt Erik’s family probably being “normal” complicate his bias? Lol. I dont feel like they set up the “Frankenstine’s creature” thing well, since we dont see them post-meeting — it is very important to their alignment that Shaw “created” Charles but Charles and Mystique “created” Magneto. That dichotomy appears then disappears real quick. What man is Erik? Why are they trying to make me think Erik is taking Shaw’s place uncritically?? When Erik implies that the source of his power is Both his love for his mother and his anger/pain over her death To Shaw. “We are the same but you killed my mother.” Like did he not get his own implication or was that just a relatively shallow revenge thing. It doesnt do a good job of portraying the tragedy of Erik choosing anger for his own sake. It’s mostly just like. Fine whatever im gone now. Instead focusing on its impact on Charles. Which actually leads me to things i do like.

I like: that Charles is SO fucked up over Erik killing Shaw and taking his place. He’s soooo fucked up over it that the film overlays the coin going through Shaw with Charles and experiencing that pain while in his head. I mean it makes sense that Magneto would betray him like this, I just wish it was better set up. I wish the convergence of identity (Shaw v Charles) was better portrayed — though I suppose it would make sense that Magneto would see them as black and white sides… If so, it wouldve been nice to see that conflict while he was in the school. He seemed to be chilling… and pretty happy. Just doesnt make sense why hed switch if he showed an ability to compromise through out the film without complaint. Anyhow i also liked how when he accidentally hits Charles, he drops EVERYTHING. INCLUDING HIMSELF! He’s vulnerable and lashes out YET EVEN THEN LISTENS TO CHARLES, when he realizes he’s right that it wasnt moira who did it but himself. Omfg. It’s this redeeming moment of claiming their relationship as a Forever thing always more important than a war with humans (which Erik abandons to hold Charles) — which they Do demonstrate as their older selves when they constantly team up with each other lol. And I fully believe Erik couldnt have stopped Jean in X3, at least he didn’t think she would do that to Charles (per his surprise and regret). Do we ever go back to the end of X3 or no? Anyway i actually loved how Erik saw him and Charles as the same, and Charles broke that fantasy with a SMILE, while in TERRIBLE PAIN. Charles essentially breaking the partnership is a lot more satisfying than Magneto doing it. His realism is interesting since Magneto sees it as idealism — when Magneto isnt a realist, he’s a Doomer. Makes you think

Ok final thoughts is that they didnt set up Magneto’s betrayal well BUT it makes sense since they do work within the rules of the characters. Theres a tragedy that isnt properly portrayed. But love is forever. Yess.

good morning i'm going to nerd out about my location choices in my silly henrydeclan fic because I know a lot of you aren't into games BUT i think the references are fun. note that none of these pictures are mine cause i dont have my game on me atm.

heclan land in a snowed-in backyard. that's a reference to the jacksonville, wyoming sections of the last of us (part 2). there's a snowstorm, too, so the environment is very dreary and foreboding. the interiors are about as decomposed as you'd expect.

(declan's mobile phone battery is at 7%, and goes to 6 as he uses it. that's a giggle to the FNAF style of "survive a week" gameplay)

once they come out on the other side, the weather is markedly different. it's still a/the same suburban area, but now things are looking a lot like the Hillcrest section in TLOU 2, overgrown and humid.

henry mentions that they keep looping back to the other side when they try to take a route that isnt directly down the street. that's because there IS nowhere to go: it's the classic video game thing of inaccessible areas being blocked by a stack of boxes that really SHOULD be jumpable. good old disguised invisible walls.

there's also a mess of cars blocking the path up the street, up to where henry has to specifically aim for inFecTeD breaking through the barriers of cars at the end of the chapter ^

now for the Ominous Looming Structure. henry misidentifies it at first, before amending himself as they get closer. the 'wall', so to speak, "pops in". that's a term referring to when assets just appear/load in out of nowhere as you're looking at them. a well-optimised game will try to avoid this, since it shows a lack of polish + breaks the immersion. if there's a lot of pop-in, it shows either the device running the game or the game itself is flawed severely.

the structure itself takes from silent hill (2 i think, but mostly the vibe of all the games). it's gross brick that's distinctly fleshy and grimy.

the "creepy hallway" is such a cemented trope in horror media that i could say anything from resident evil, to P.T., to the shining and still get the point across. specifically, though, i was referencing the evil within 2 (the right image is from a dark pictures game, you get what i mean when i say its a distinct trope)

they reach what seems to be a regular wall, before declan presses the pattern in a specific way that causes it to swing into another hall. henry does not notice this because he's trying not to have a panic attack. however this puzzle situation is a nod to the OG resident evil, which also has similar décor.

i didn't have a specific reference in mind for the locked door, but i was definitely thinking of some outlast vibes, like so

carrying on from that we are just fully in silent hill territory. just, bona fide nasty. places which look like they'll give you 4 never before seen strains of tetanus.

and we've about caught up to what's written out now! i didn't go too deep into the monsters/lore here, but a specific i want clear is that the whole place is a leyline-induced amalgamation of horror games, with a distinct fondness for the medium. things don't work cohesively, but that's kind of the point: it's a bunch of different properties stitched together.

of the two, henry canonically "watches video game walkthroughs," and declan is declan; so only one of them really has the background to even be able to recognise the patterns in what's going on. also, henry watches these games but he doesn't PLAY these games. he doesn't have that adrenaline/fear frame of reference either.

below i mention some thoughts about the arms used too. thank you for coming on this fun little journey with me! xx

obligatory mention that i barely know anything about g*ns ive never seen a pistol up close unless while getting mugged. BUT since we're going with a shooter game feel, i'll mention my choices for both of them.

i wanted henry to be a stealth/range build to declan's melee/close-range build.

henry uses a revolver with a long barrel and a very shiny finish. Declan uses a double action pistol, smaller for better concealed carry, and matte. probably a glock because i think GLOCK is the funniest word to say since it reminds me of chickens. his is a 9mm i THINK (i did the research but i forgot it so i WANT to say smth with 35, but i dont think that's right), so he's able to acquire ammo easier.

if i was held at gunpoint (lol) to pick a gun for henry, i'd go with a Korth because he would love to spend an obscene amount of money on things. accuracy over speed is the contrast between them: given declan's greywaren insanity i do NOT believe that man is a careful shooter.

if i DIDN'T have to be bound to like, relative realism, I would say Henry has a Mauser c96. it's a very funky looking ww2 era pistol that was very popular in China for a while and the base for Leon Kennedy's Red9 from the resident evil game. EYE think henry is exactly the type of person to have played re4 age 7 and decide to base his personality off of leon. side by sides of both below:

there are some really basic problems with the barbie movie as a whole starting with her character specifically. side note I am very tired rn

barbie is afraid of cellulite and of not being pretty? why? because barbie is supposed to be perfect? how does she determine what flaws or imperfections are especially since barbieland is so diverse? if the criticism is about a woman's value in a patriarchal society being determined by their appearance why does this affect Barbie who exists in a matriarchy? that would imply that the patriarchy was in barbieland from the very beginning and is baked into the very concept of barbie herself? wish we could have explored that *shrug*

also barbieland isn't a utopia, its a matriarchy in which the kens are forgotten and ignored and exist as props to support barbie. kens taking over with the patriarchy is more akin to misandry overtaking the patriarchy irl, and by the end it returns to the status quo. it undercuts its own message by framing the return to barbieland as a victory over the patriarchy which it isn't, because the dismantling of the patriarchy is about breaking down societal barriers and expectations which ultimately harm everyone, men included. they made a joke alluding to this but being aware of your own writing flaws doesn't make them go away.

a big problem is also her whole character arc? we dont know where her fear of being imperfect come from or what drives her? what is it like to be a barbie, how does it limit her or confine her and what does becoming a real person offer her? barbie gained more complex emotions through Gloria (America), but ken didn't? and he had an existential crisis too? which means that barbies and kens are capable of emotional complexity without being human or being influenced by a human. why can ken have an existential crisis all on his own. It wasn't because he absorbed it from the human world because ken felt that way all along his experiences of feeling valued and powerful for the first time through the patriarchy is just what cracked him.

I know it was supposed to be about her becoming a more complex and embracing humanity and the beauty of being real, but you cant do that without showing her gain a deeper appreciation for that in the real world and showing how barbieland doesn't meet her needs anymore. there were a couple montages and that one scene on the bench that were foreshadowing but other than that nothing showed how barbie had been changed by her experiences. if her motivation was that as barbie she would always be static and incapable of change or experiencing the world they should have shown that but they didnt and they dont even show how being barbie limits her.

her arc was about the messiness and ugliness of being human is beautiful and worthwhile it just wasn't shown well because we would need to know why she has this fear in the first place and what drives her into turning her back on her whole foundational sense of self. I dont think the moments she had were enough.

how am I supposed to think that barbies character arc about accepting the beauty of humanity, of being imperfect if I dont even know why she feels so much pressure to be perfect. people are being incredibly generous with their interpretation of the movie and are adding a lot of nuance the movie does not provide because as far as the movie tells us barbie wants to be perfect because shes barbie and shes barbie because she's perfect. that is something that needs to be unpacked. how can margot give a nuanced performance about a doll becoming human when her arc is a few sentimental moments tied together by a shoestring.

theres also the fact that within her own movie she never acts only reacts. kens character arc drives almost the entire story. barbie goes through an existential crisis because of glorias character, kens character arc is entirely internally motivated.

The same with Gloria. Shes barely a character, just a plot device and a mouthpiece for giving the big speech at the end of the film. Why is she depressed and having an existential crisis? because shes a woman and her daughters growing up? what does she do to resolve that? gee whiz I wish we had gotten a comprehensive story arc to unpack that. gloria was a bland character and the performance wasn't anything remarkable because it didnt require anything remarkable.

I would have been so down for getting an acting nom for margot especially, but how can you even give a nuanced performance if the character is so poorly written and it sucks because there are a couple easy fixes to massively improve her entire character and streamline the movie. (I can get into that but I dont have the energy tonight).

one of the easiest ways to show how poor the writing is that they had the mattel team visit barbieland and it had zero point. like zero relevance, gloria told them her idea for a quick gag but it was a pointless plot point. them showing the team irl wasn't written very well but it was an important thematic and comedic moment but after her escape, their presence added nothing to the plot or message and it wasn't that funny.

its completely ridiculous to blame the patriarchy for ken being more popular or acknowledged over barbie when the MOVIE also gave more importance to his character. him choosing to pursue barbie is integral to the rest of the plot happening, his choice is what kickstarts the entire movie. the climax of the movie is the climax of his character arc HE GOT A MUSICAL NUMBER.

if people are going to be mad about the academy passing over women in favour of men the call is coming from inside the house my friend because it started with the move itself.

Okay these are some veryyy interesting points I’m gonna have to digest and I don’t have much to add. I think that the marketing of it and some aspects of the writing being very feminist-forward are doing heavy lifting in getting the audience to suspend its disbelief at some of the contradictory aspects of the movie itself and some plot holes, because, it’s a fantasy idk. The 4th to last paragraph in particular, I AGREE. Hell I wish she’d been nommed but it isn’t a crime against women either.

Jellystone! Season 3’s episode: Spacecon moments/scenes that I think about constantly

Note: This is just about Brak, Zorak, and a bit Moltar mixed in. But im just gonna mention here about Peter gaslighting SpaceGhost and also Lokar’s brief appearance I guess. Anyway…

For one thing, the trio’s introduction in the episode was like very hypnotic from my perspective. Like seriously, the animation was so smooth. I also saw how both Brak and Moltar are walking the same way while Zorak is just crossing his arms while walking like the two. I personally think he just didn’t want to be Gravity Girl and wanted someone else to be her.

I also saw that both Brak and Zorak came out on the left side of the entrance (?) while Moltar only came out on the right. Pretty sure they wanted to go together.

I also like this frame with Zorak and Brak just looking at eachother with scheming looks on their faces

Then in the next scene of them, Brak was asking to Wally about them having anything for villains in disguise for them to ruin SpaceGhost’s panel. Then when he mentions he’s doing it for a friend, he says that it wasn’t for Moltar and instead doing it for another friend who’s not here.

Then you literally have Zorak who’s also Brak’s friend, but he never mentions him in the conversation.

But then you have this scene in where Zorak gets impatient and wants to do the plan now, but Brak says it’s not yet time. And he literally puts his hand on Zorak’s and basically assuring him that they’ll do the plan when the time is right. Now, since The Brak Show is somewhat canon in JCU (Jellystone Cinematic Universe), Zorak would’ve said don’t touch me or something since he hates Brak; instead, the guy literally didn’t mind that a guy he bullied just touch him.

The rabbit hole goes down even further when, after revealing themselves to the public, Brak said that the people love him cause he’s adorable; both Moltar and Zorak agree. Basically saying that the both of them agree that people find Brak cute and that Zorak is LITERALLY supporting Brak with this.

Actually, now that I think about it, I actually see Zorak looking at Brak during some parts in the episode. Like this scene for example:

Guy’s probably just hoping that the plan wouldn’t mess up from his expression.

Seriously tho, am I the only one who sees this. It’s somewhat out of character for both Zorak and Brak (Mostly Zorak). I mean, is Zorak x Brak canon? I don’t know. Is Greenblatt doing this for the fans? I DONT KNOW! I’m literally processing rn about these two after this episode.

taekookers in general consider taekook's premiere 'date' a statement, or a semi coming out, or water testing, or normalizing seeing them together. all of which make 0 sense.

1) taekook don't need to normalize the sight of them together as it isn't something abnormal to the fandom in the first place. 2) they're not coming out right before of military enlistment for sure, idk how people even consider that option, and 3) the "testing waters" thing is hypocritical.

what is there to test? reactions to what? there's nothing gay about attending an event together, namseok did it already, jihope did it at pfw, all of these members attended events together for the first time, and it'll probably happen more times in the future with different combinations of members.

and the fact that the people who dismissed any and every queer coded message in jungkook's gcf films are the same ones saying that is hypocritical. gcf tokyo had a queer coded song by a queer artist. gcf saipan had queer coded lyrics over jimin's part twice. gcf helsinki had the entire frame change to white and the filter change to bright colors when jimin appeared on screen (but people love to ignore that part yet always praise the filter warming up at namjoon's part). gcf osaka paused the music twice just to show us jimin giggling and being a goofball. the fact that in general every time jk's voice was heard in any of the gcfs was always because of jimin being at the crime scene. all of that means nothing though, because apparently jungkook is stupid and doesn't know what he's doing or what kind of messages his gcfs send in regards to jimin and the music he chooses is meaningless (even when he himself said he searches for the lyrics of every song he posts/uses) because people are being willfully blind. or jungkook is just a company puppet doing whatever he's told, including highlighting jimin in gcfs to serve a hidden company agenda.

if everything queer coded (the gcfs, showing up with the hickey instead of just covering it to avoid discourse, etc) thing jungkook has done in regards to jimin can't be him testing reactions or normalizing his... rather unique bond with jimin, then what is there to normalize about normal friend group hang outs or public appearances?

You take queercoding to a level it’s usually not taken to. Queer coding (and there is also debate on using this term dor real people, but I do get what you mean) is done by queer people to point out their sexuality, not their relationships. Queer coding is Tae referencing queer artists, and art, it’s Jk wearing queer coded clothing and doing song recommendations. It is not pointing to one person and outing your relationship.

You see everything Jk and or Jimin does through Jikook-eyes. Leave the ‘hickey’ (it’s a bite!!!) and the GCF’s and Rosebowl out of it for a minute… and then what is left of your ‘proofs’? You come to me with the same three things over and over and those just don’t actually proof anything, because it can also point to friendship. Ofcourse Jk and Jimin have a unique bond, they are members/brothers/friends who have lived together for years, who have gone through tough times together, who have worked together on a physical level as well… all of that creates closeness. Look at Hobi and Jimin and how they interact… not that different if only you want to see.

>on the third floor we meet steven whos been just kind of. there. the entire time. and he INSTANTLY assumes theyre there to kill him and makes them battle robots until they find him huddled in a corner. he rambles about how he’s unsaveable and they should just leave him and jack has to pull him from his spiral to tell him he’s still worth saving even if he was a bit of a dick to everyone

Ben pulls his attention away from the TV, that currently has The Amazing World of Gumball playing, to look at you.

You look over at him before simply responding with a "what do you want".

He taps the tips of both his pointer fingers together. "Can you make cupcakes or a cake or something pleaseeee".

The blank stare that sat on your face made him chirp out, "I can sit in the kitchen with you and help you if you need itttttt....."

You pinch the bridge of your nose and laugh a little bit. "It is literally almost four in the morning my love".

He gives you those stupid puppy dog eyes you can't say no to, so you just sigh and smile at him. "Alright, alright, I'm going. WE'RE going."

He fist pumps the air and tumbles out of bed, trailing right behind you the entire way to the kitchen. A cabinet is opened looking for a spare box of cake mix that you know for certain Slender has sitting somewhere. Ben, being the helpful (goofy) person he is, climbs onto the countertop and checks the really high shelves. He grins as he pulls out a box of Funfetti cake mix. "I found it! See y/n I am SO helping".

You roll your eyes and laugh, "Yes I see that, thank you very much bb".

The eggs, water, and oil are all being mixed in when Ben reaches in between your arms and wraps his around you. Kisses are peppered on your jaw and he whispers a thank you in your ear, which sends goosebumps down your spine. You turn your head so you can give him a quick kiss before asking for the pan for the cake.

The oven lets out a series of three beeps to signal that it had pre-heated, and you were just scraping the last bit of the mix into the pan. You hand the pan to him to put in the oven and go set the used dishes in the sink. As soon as you go to move from the sink he is right behind you.

"Well. Hello there cutie", you playfully flirt at him. Ben's face somehow still manages to blush despite the amount of time you've been dating. He winks in the same playful tone and grabs you by the waist, "Come here often sexy?"

You throw your head back in laughter and eventually lean in to give him another kiss. One of his hands slips it's way under your shirt and grazes across your chest. 'Well two can play that game', you thought. Your own hand moves from his shoulder to the back of his head and pull a little, not enough to not be played off as an accident. He immediately pulls back from the kiss, his eyes starting to get that dark look in them.

"I assure you, my love, that's not a game you want to play right now". He has a stupid mischievous smirk plastered to his face that makes you want to do it again JUST to see what happens. And that is exactly what you do. Another gentle tug on the back of his head.

"WOAH-"

Ben has managed to hoist you up onto the counter and is now sucking marks into your neck. A gasp leaves your mouth the minute you feel sharp teeth pressed against the soft skin. Almost instinctively your legs come to wrap themselves around him. The both of you are way too invested in each other to notice Slender in the frame of the kitchen door.

"I understand, hormones and what not, but you HAVE a ROOM", he sighs, exasperated.

You jump first at Slender's voice and quickly slide off the counter. Ben glances over at him, looking more annoyed than anything, "We're baking a cake too".

Slender appears agitated despite having no facial features to show that. "You're WHAT?"

"Making a cake."

"With what cake mix?"

Ben shuffles a little bit. "The Funfetti stuff? It was in the top most cabinet."

"You mean the cake mix I deliberately put there for myself?"

Ben shuffles even more. Your palms start sweating. "You can have some of the cake if you want?", he sheepishly says with a small side smile.

"Get out."

"Done and done!" Ben chirps, dragging you behind him out of the kitchen. Once you two are a safe distance from the kitchen, you both are in hysterics.

Ben pulls you into his room, still laughing. You settle into the bed again, and suddenly the lights are off and he's on top of you, hovering an inch away from your face.

"You shouldn't have done that, my love."

July 15th-electric energy-

so much happens in my life.. daily.. so much life. my back doesnt hurt, i'm not exactly sure what i did, the weight was relatively light, 135.. i think i may have been in my head a bit and not really focused on what i was doing and ouch.. i did upper body on Thursday and it was heavy.. he really pushes me it seems more so on upper.. 112.5x2.. he keeps upping it.. i was disappointed in myself with the whole back thing.. i feel like it was a set back, because it was. James says it it all part of the process, i have to trust that it is and not be hard on myself..Kika looks great. Not the same happy pup but getting there. she's moving a little slower. the cute guy said bye to me Bye April.. see i remembered.. funny thing is.. i don't know his name.. I'll have to ask him the next time i see him. he's such a baby.. 20 something.. he's always talking about books.. he had a copy of the art of war in his gym bag.. intelligence is so sexy.. oh you read 💦

I was going to see my friend today but decided not too for various reasons. Mads has off from work and wanted to spend time together.. i was fine doing that but i had to tell her to stop treating me like shit.. i told her i didn't want to be around her. she gets in these moods where she is just on me.. everything i say she has a negative comment. she's been ok since i said something to her. we were going to go to the beach- she would rather go to a pool so we are going to the pool..

in the past few days i had 3 cardinals fly in front of me. 2x in my car and 1x in the woods. numbers numbers everywhere.. i realize i give meaning to things but dam it's weird seeing the same numbers everywhere.. 322 constantly.. i was running through the woods and 2 little dogs appeared out of nowhere.. i think i scared them just as much as they scared me.. i was so pissed- i cursed at their owner.. I tired to run and failed.. my inner critic came out loud.. hard. i didnt really fail i just didn't do what i wanted to do and i started to really beat myself up over it and i haven't gone down that path in a while but it's still there.. i had to catch myself.. why are you doing this to yourself? Why? I dont even know who's voice it is.. is it mine? x? my mom? who's voice is tell me im a total waste of space and a failure and nothing and unlovable and worse.. i cant imagine i was born thinking those things abut myself. And i catch myself and tell myself none of it is true.. don't fight it, love it, show yourself compassion and support and be your own friend. there is an old version of myself who would have quit a long time ago. there is an old version of me who wouldn't have even been able to recognize the loop of self hate that was being played inside her head, because it was normal to have those thoughts and feeling about herself.. this all happens within a 15 minute time frame as i am walking and running through the woods battling myself.. at war with myself. By the time i get to my car i feel like i've had some sort of breakthrough.

I was told i am too white by a black co worker. It happened during a supervisors meeting. there was a lot of cross talk going on so im not sure if anyone else heard it. I literally had to bite my lip to not say what i wanted to say because i knew if i said it the room would fall silent and i would be escorted out the door or this co worker would have wanted to fight me in the parking lot.. so i just documented it.. yep learned all about documentation in training. it's not the first comment i've received about me being white. something else happened this week.. with one of my reps and the ice queen. I documented it but.. i have a feeling.. i dont know what but this might not go away and it will be my word and the reps word against the ice queens word.. not sure how well i will make out in this situation.. the ice queen was wrong and she knows it.. i dont have anything to hide as i wasn't the one doing the talking.. i tried to make things better.. i learned a valuable lesson.. i just dont know if there is going to be a price to pay for said lesson.. there usually is.. i'll know come next thursday.

My mom texted me that my Aunt has cancer.. she thought i should know. I saw her at the park last year 2x and kept running. i told myself if i ever see her again i would stop and talk. i dont know how to tell Mads as i think she will be upset. I thought maybe something was wrong with Ryan. I guess not.. still in jail.

Other things .. explainable.. i feel the electricity in the air. there is a current of excitement.. i cant explain it but i can feel it. i can see it too.. in the clouds and the trees- the birds and butterflies.. i can feel it in the air- i can feel it.. so many people telling me they feel lucky.. i feel lucky i feel lucky.. its a good energy.. its a great energy..

the office narcissist left a gift on my desk this week. last week she ignored me and talked shit to my reps about me.. this week gifts.. i know i shouldn't be surprised.. i mean, i was married to someone who talked shit on me.. but i'm still surprised at how shitty people can be..

I have no idea what i'm doing as far as moving.. i saw a house but its too much house for me and honestly thats not what i really want.. i do and i dont.. a 30 year mortgage sounds horrible.. truly fucking horrible.. i dont want more stuff.. I want less stuff and more experiences.. sitting in an office all day is not living.. people laugh and say i spend more time at work then at home.. thats not a good thing that is messed up that we are made to believe thats normal.. so yeah.. still trying to figure out what it is i want to do..

Yall just don't understand syd and carmy like I understand syd and carmy. Like they like each other they really do you're gonna sit here and tell me that you honestly felt more chemistry with carmy and Claire than carmy and syd, really? I just don't believe yall and on top of that where is all this talk about them being platonic coming from when in season 1 everyone was pretty much shipping them together. All it took was one gf and yall have shoved their potential relationship to the back burner weird if you ask me. Nothing and I mean nothing about their interactions screams platonic mans was in the middle of a damn panic/anxiety attack thinking about Claire trying to calm down and the second he started thinking about syd he felt relief you're telling me he likes Claire so much that the only way to calm himself during his panic/anxiety attack was to think about another woman? If you were dating him and you found out the ways he calms himself down from a panic/anxiety attack was him thinking about another woman you'd think he loved you more?? Lmao no I'd be like wtf I mean you can't control these things I get it but I'd still feel like does he actually love me if the thing that calms him down isn't me but someone else? And every time he talked about Claire whether it was him announcing he was going to talk to his "gf" or something else somehow some way syd would magically appear in the same/next frame as claire im sorry but that man likes her. And syd yea she likes him too when she was talking to carmy about what they were doing after work she literally looked interested genuinely but the moment Marcus asked if she wanted to hang she literally almost ran away screaming like there was a visible awkward shift in their interactions where there was no awkward (there was but not in a bad way) shift in her interactions with carmy they just kind of shook it off and walked away from each other. You want to know why its because she was interested in what carmy might've suggested if he had asked her to hang out she would've said yes but because he backed out she backed out too and just was like yeah whatever. Yall dont now how to read these characters I'm sorry but some of you really don't I'm already seeing yall saying stuff like I like them platonically and only after one gf like really and not only that but yall are also acting like yall love Claire so much when she was ok I'm not going to act like she didn't make carmy somewhat happy but she also made him anxious and she's also attached to bad memories which is why when carmy was having that panic/anxiety attack you'd see flashes of his family throughout but when he starts thinking of syd he calms down she brings him stress sometimes sure but she's also not connected to his family at all she's a clean slate a fresh start.

Anyways, whenever they decide to make another season of the bear, which I hope they make it soon, but because of the writers' strike idk, I hope yall 1. Stop all that platonic bs because why? And 2. I hope yall let Claire go bc that girl isn't carmy's endgame she's not. Also I hope carmy seeks out what's going on with him mental health wise so he can get the help he needs and maybe even the medication he needs because as long as he's going around undiagnosed and unmedicated I feel like he's going to keep having these same problems popping up.
