ngl this is such a disturbing sentiment but I suppose it’s the end result of things like “content creator” + “lost media” obsession + entitlement + the increasingly normalized thought that if it’s not posted on social media it didn’t happen. You guys are talking about shit like fan art made by single artists in their free time as if it’s an indie darling film that never got a physical release. It’s NOT YOURS even if you “really really really like it” or it totally “changed your life” or whatever. Take a screenshot and save it to your desktop. An artist can delete the work they share for free online whenever and for any reason and you have to accept this. Another PERSON made the work with their own 2 hands, I know the line gets blurred in the digital age, especially now that people are basing a lot of their self worth and personality on media they consume, but this isn’t a machine spitting out AI drawings. the artist behind the work makes the final call on everything. No piece of the work is yours. So many people on that post are saying it’s selfish to delete and “clean up” your social media and foolish to get rid of old artwork to see where you came from (“tree rings” etc). You know not everything has to be posted online to exist, right? These works can still be saved offline in a sketchbook or desktop. A lot of younger artists now seem to think they need to post everything they make online or it isn’t “real” , and then subsequently this creates anxiety about making any sort of art in the (eternal) learning process that doesn’t look perfect. My advice to less experienced artists (and more if they need it) is to actually be LESS precious about your sketchbooks, especially in the digital age. Try doing a bunch of warmups or something completely out of your comfort zone and then rip the pages up. It’s freeing to physically practice and not feel like the process is documented forever, especially if you have anxiety about starting anything. I saw a call for art notice about a “sketchbook” based show where you would have to cut pages out of yours to submit to the gallery. The boomer and genX artists in the comments were losing their minds about the sanctity of their sketchbooks and one of them even likened cutting pages out of it to being sexually violated. I find this a truly creatively stifling mindset and it really cemented for me the importance of being more loose and free with the work you create.

The event that showed me how grotesque the “I’m entitled to your work” mindset can get was what happened to fanartists and the creator of the Wonderlab comic for the ongoing protest/boycott of Project Moon and their gambling game Limbus Company. Over the summer PM fanartists mass deleted their related art and sometimes entire accounts to protest the antifeminist actions of the company. This is not artwork they want shared anywhere anymore, they are literally boycotting the company and yet folders of their deleted work were getting passed around publicly by people who felt entitled to it. The users continue to be dedicated to the boycott and with their exodus have significantly dropped Limbus Company’s revenue and daily/monthly active users. The creator and illustrator of Wonderlab, a comic commissioned by Project Moon, filed to have her work taken down from their site due to their antifeminist actions and the request was granted. She does not want this work circulated and does not want to be associated with PM. Following this action, fans re-uploaded the entire comic to google docs and reposted it frequently all over social medias, a lot of which (going by their comments) was to spite her. She got some of the reposts deleted which spiked a huge harassment campaign against her with PM fans laughing at her distressed twitter posts across places like reddit and 4chan, and calling her hysterical for saying pornographic illustrations of the child characters from her comic were disgusting. It was disturbing to watch unfold to say the least. This is a dangerous mindset to slip in to and it seems like the sentiment just keeps growing. This is NOT “lost media”, this is the art version of “the right to be forgotten”.

I love Yinu and her theme lots even if I'm not that big of a fan of Classical Music. And her backstory...Gosh! It made me cry a lot.

Love the pace of how music goes with the fight and it feels even better when you get into actual rhythm. There were issues that gladly wore off thanks to practice and fighting this boss over and over.

Two-faced, tall woman.

Used to be one of my favorites but due to some circumstances I can't look at her the same way I used to but I still adore her as a boss!

I honestly love her style of the fight and music that changes depending on who you play.

Tho fighting her is literally like eating a lemon but eventually you kinda just accept your fate and roll with weird artistic antics happening around you.

And EVE herself as a character is so fascinating. Like this is the moment where I started to see that these aren't just bosses, they are actually characters that tie this little but complex story together bit by bit. And this is why I would nominate No Straight Roads for The Best Storytelling and Character Design AGAIN!

Funny Useless Fact: EVE was supposed to be a next character to have a complete and detailed art of but due to my forgetfulness, difficulties with her design (and many other things) - it was never finished but I hope to get that dusty sketch out of WIP folder someday.

5. Tatiana

The Bitch. The Boss.

I don't really like her music and rhythm but I can forgive that since it is kind of fitting for conflict between her and the BBJ.

She tries to hide her true image throughout the story and the fight but ultimately crumbles cause escaping from the past isn't the best option to improve.

I love her design and personality and I wish there were more villains like her. Strict, simple, stoic and yet well-written.

Funny Useless Fact: I've never drawn Tatiana until NSR announced their release on Steam with addition of Fanat Graffiti Contest that I certainly didn't want to miss out on. It was difficult but I did it and ngl, I am still proud of the results.

6. DJ Subatomic Supernova & 1010/Neon J

I can't really say anything much about both of them. Sorry, guys...

Their designs and personalities are fun and well-made but due to one of them being the first you fight as "tutorial" and the other appears only at the end of a fight. (1010 band doesn't count as an actual boss to me more like a part of it) They didn't struck me much as the others did...

I will say this thou: their backstories are interesting. One is an academy astrology teacher with a goal of achieving the stars and other is a war veteran who just wanted everyone to live in peace and he himself despite everything never stopped his passion for doll-making and making people happy.

Just simply, beautiful...

First remade background for the Super Secret Project! It’s quite different than the original digital picture. Being far more messy and impressionistic. I would rather not compare the two as each of them is doing it’s own thing. I do find it funny that even though I spent just AGES on the original, doing all these intricate patterns it looks far more clean and I guess I would say empty compared to this just splatter the paint where ever attitude.

I think I should paint on bigger canvases to force myself to do more details. A big inspiration for me are classically animated movies. Yesterday I watched Secret of Nymh which I should finish today. That movie is a master piece!!!! Kind of hard to believe it’s for kids with how dark it is, but as a child I loved dark stuff so yeah. But the backgrounds! Oh the backgrounds! I really got to step up my game. I’m like a kid in a shonen anime.

I also made a little mock up for how the project will look. Just messed around in Procreate with it. Something I want to change for my future projects is a better longer pre production period. This project did have some pre production. Such as sketches, scrapped background and character art. But nothing even nearing a professional production. I used to go to an art high school (high schools here are like roughly ages 15 to 19, I don’t remember perfectly) and there they had you repeat every step of the process like 20 times before you could move on.

I don’t plan on working for like a proper game or animation company. That being said if Disney comes knocking on the door then I’m not going to say no. But I don’t think that type of environment is for me. And with the rise of AI art. Bitch. Why would they want me around with my “special needs”? I think indie game studios are the way to go. My aesthetic would also suit them far more. So erm. Contact me. I want to buy a custom fursuit.

I MIGHT finish it for Christmas but don’t take my word for it. I don’t like deadlines. There’s still like a truck load of work left to do. Exhibit one. Finishing the script. Getting sensitivity and beta readers. Would be great if I could get my friend who studies psychology to look at it. There’s a lot of trauma. I bet ya there’s going to be a whole lot of editing to do after that. Exhibit two. Backgrounds and sprites. Urg. Exhibit three. Putting it somehow together. Presumably with duct tape, paper clips and prays. Exhibit four. Releasing it. Exhibit five. Shameless self promotion. Such as bothering mid size furry YouTubers.

An absolute dream come true would be having Saber Spark look at it, as he’s the one that introduced me amongst many of you I bet to Squirrel and Hedghog. But please don’t go bothering anyone just yet. I want to do the shameless self promotion last when there’s actually something to promote. Otherwise it’s just a scam.

Am I taking this project too seriously? This is the first time I’m doing something like this so it is more of a prototype of how I will do things for later projects.

Since it is taking quite some time, and because I pivoted from the easier thumbnail I made before WARFRAME: Lua’s Prey released, I figured I would share a little bit about what goes into my process for taking an in-game art asset and turning it into something that will pop and stand out in a youtube thumbnail.

This is not a statement that my edits are better in any way. In fact, I think my edits drastically lose a lot of what makes the artwork as present in-game work as a part of the game’s world building and artistry. Never the less, I am working in a different medium.

I consider the creation of youtube thumbnails a transformative version of collage. While some are much better than others, and by no means am I claiming mine are great, I do not discount digital collage and just copy-pasting other images. (Though people often do just that in this industry.)

First is taking a screen-cap of the image.

Second, painstakingly erasing everything around the subject in Gimp, being mindful of where the lines are meant to be, their thickness, and preserving as much as possible. This was a particular challenge on Voruna’s wolf friends, because their line work is done in the same yellow as the murals they are placed on. The line work makes aggressive use of lines that suggest space and shape, yet ever connect. Leaving a lot of the original wolves without exterior linework. My process will change this gestalt quality. Which is a pity.

Third, copying the layer. Bringing the figure to 0 contrast so that the shape becomes a single color. Selecting the shape. Growing the area of the shape by a tiny amount, “2.” then merging the layers with the wolf on top, thus creating a black outline. I actually do this step between the brightness/contrast and the sharpness parts of step 4, because introducing such a large amount of the color black I feel throws off maintaining the colors of the image. So i would rather keep it for all the parts of those filters that introduce more black outlines and shading to the image.

Fourth, over the years, I have made a streamline method of how much to change the saturation, the brightness/contrast, the sharpness, and for exaggerating linework with GIMP’s “Cartoon” filters. This time, I had to deviate, because too much brightness ended up hiding the yellow line work. Most especially on the green wolf Ulfrun. To Keep those lines on the chest visible, I had to add a step. Desaturating just the colors inside the linework > erasing them to create a transparency > cutting all brightness and maxing out contrast to turn those exterior lines black > then dropping the transparency down to 15% on that layer and off-setting the lines. The result being the lines are now visible without fully covering up the image, but we still lose some of that gold. Had I not been working on just these wolves for 4 days, I would have instead erased all but the lines on that chest fur and made them into a darker, goldenrod color, with similar decreased transparency and offset. But I didn’t want to spend all my time on this. I need to keep going to eventually see if my concept for the thumbnail will work as all. Dymar’s color, by far, is the least preserved by this process. What was a fairly muted blue-indigo vibe transformed entirely into a bright cyan

This was all just the first step. I currently have no idea how I am going to space the wolves, nor where I am going to place text into the thumbnail. The center piece of the image is going to be the Grineer Worm Queen’s hand holding an edited Prex (warframe word for playing card/poster). I will follow up with a post of the last wolf and the prex after this one.

But at least I hope this exposure of my standard process helps to present making thumbnails as something that can be more involved in an artistic sense. A lot of effort, trial, and error goes into trying to make the images into something both new and familiar, while preserving the artistry of the components and meeting the end of catching the eye of a person scrolling through a webpage.

You probably don't wanna do what i did, which was: only just get into trigun when stampede came out, watch the first three episodes, think to yourself "damn this is cool. three episode rule really kicked in hard. this is a compliment," watch weekly until episode 6, find out hulu has the original anime dubbed and proceed to watch that in about 3 days, continue watching tristamp for another couple weeks, find the overhaul project of the manga, read a volume or two a night until you've started volume 8, at which point you read the rest of volumes 8-14 in a blur (pausing for a cry at volume 10), at which point the last two episodes of season one of tristamp have yet to come out; your roommate makes you watch badlands rumble with them the same night you watch the season finale, JUST so they can watch you watch wolfwood say the gayest sentence you've ever heard with your own two ears.

follow all of this up with the trigun book club (started by @trigunbookclub) to actually figure out what the fuck you were reading in the first place.

if you want to start with one of the anime, you can either start with tristamp or trigun 98 first - tristamp season one is 12 episodes and its set up as a prequel series. trigun 98 is mostly vibes, but its really fun - in its defense, the only thing out of trigun the manga at the time was the two volumes of trigun and maybe the first volume or two of trimax? tristamp is working with the whole of trimax, and if you read trimax before watching tristamp you'll catch stuff! there's also stuff in trimax that reference the 98 anime! its a very self-referential series. (complimentary)

or you can jump right into trimax! i recommend the translation done by @trigun-manga-overhaul - they've done a really good job of translating it and keeping things consistent. dark horse has the official release, and i can't say anything for or against it atm because i am still working my way through it. i don't have all the volumes and i haven't just gotten the digital version yet. i keep forgetting

it's fairly heavy in tone though - themes such as bodily autonomy come up, assault of various kinds, body horrors, mental illnesses, just a whole host of things. Nightow does a really good job handling them, imo. plus the art is insane! in a genuinely good way! i love how nightow lets us sit with things sometimes!

Nightow also has really lovely pieces of perspective art and there are so many times while reading (and rereading) the manga I've just left the image open if I've got the overhaul translation up or sat my physical dark horse copy (the single volumes are hard to get (prohibitively expensive in the used manga market, even for someone with a 50% discount thanks to work) but dark horse is putting out a deluxe edition starting this fall (oct '23)) down and just. soaked it in. i know I've got posts in my book club tag talking about how nightow's art Works Thematically

(despite the "goofy" part in my title, there aren't a ton of goofs in trimax or tristamp, but the ones that are there genuinely make it hurt more. this is a compliment. it's a little Pratchett-esque in this way.)

(trigun is a fucked up scifi western, and it changed my brain chemistry. this is important for you to know. it will change your brain chemistry. are you prepared for the consequences?)

(i did pose this to some peeps & they suggest 98/trimax/tristamp, just because 98 prepares you for the art style in trimax where tristamp has so many references to trimax. they did concede that i while i might have had the weirdest way of getting into trigun, it might have actually been the most well rounded. jury's out getting peer-reviewed)

i've rambled a bit about this year under the cut.

this was the best year ever for me on a personal level, even though my art didn't change very much. i got into south park thanks to my wonderful girlfriend that i started dating this year, and it transformed my art and writing. here's a list of some things i made this year!

i made one animatic!

the toh grimoire zine hasn't been completed yet due to some complications with paypal so i haven't been able to share my fic for it yet, but i'm so excited for it to come out!!

the amphibia tribute zine that i participated in last year came out and matt braly retweeted it, which was super awesome! here's my drawing for it!

the our duet: raeda fanzine came out! it was so thrilling to receive my first physical zine with my own writing in it. i also made merch for the first time because i contributed art for the polaroid keychain charm a few people collaborated on. avi roque also got a copy of the zine. i'm really proud of myself for this zine!!! you can see my pieces for it here.

i participated in the oops! all autistic! zine!!! you can find the amphibia fic i wrote for it here!

i'm participating in the k2 fanzine! it won't be released until 2024, but i wrote two fics for it and did a little bonus drawing for it that you might see in my art summary 👀

i'm the beta reader mod for the second huntlow zine, golden garden! i also wrote a fic for it. i'm really excited for everyone to see the work we've been putting into this project!!! i hold it so close to my heart.

since i shared my ao3 statistics last year, here are the updated ones from 2023 and overall.

these numbers aren't totally accurate because there are things i wrote this year that i haven't posted yet (shoutout to my big multichapter south park fic wip...) and things that i never finished, but they're interesting to look at anyways. although less people read my south park stuff than my toh stuff, i'm having so much fun with this show and i intend to write a ton more for it. south park gives me so much creative inspiration and i'm really glad that i got into it. thank you so much to everyone who's supported me through this transition period of my art and writing. ❤

i also wrote some goals for 2024 in my art summary post from last year. i didn't accomplish some of them, but i'm proud of myself for the stuff i did achieve. here are a few more resolutions for 2024:

write more multichapter stuff

write for a wider variety of fandoms

make at least one south park animatic

get more relaxed about my art style and stop being such a perfectionist. i want my art to get messier and cartoonier. i'm hoping to change my art style a lot, and you might be able to notice that in some of my recent drawings.

do at least one piece of colored digital art a month (i have to list this as a resolution every year so i actually do it...)

do more large and detailed pieces

experiment more with procreate (i've finally figured out how to use it, but i want to make use of more of its features and brushes)

write more consistently...i kept going weeks without writing at all in 2023 and it sucked so much. i want to do it at least a little bit every week.

participate more in the south park fandom. i'd love to join in on more fandom events like the k2 zine and tweek week.

Writing Update: Creative Corner April 2023

Welcome back to “Writing Updates”, which I’m thinking of renaming to Creative Corner, but uh we’ll see! (I tend to go back and forth on these things😅) My thought process is that instead of doing the “Good News/Bad News” format I’ve done in the past, I’m going to do a “Writing Corner” and an “Art Corner” instead. I’ll try it out and see how I feel about it. Anyway, let’s get on with the news!

TL:DR Version: I’m taking this month off…kind of. Last month was busy, but really fun!😁 This month was busy, but uh, not at all fun…long story.😅 Anyway, so no new one-shots this month. However! I did find some RenRuki fluff drabbles that I think you all might like, so I put them together in their own series. They’re perfect for a rainy day when you just want to feel good!🥰 They should be out later this month!

Writing Corner: 

*Sighs heavily* Alright, I’m gonna be honest, this month sucked. Between burnout, family stuff, and depression, I barely wrote at all. I have a nearly completed piece that I could try to rush edit and finish in time, and would at least come out okay. But I thought about it, and realized that while I do like the piece, it’s not at all what I felt like reading right now. I don’t read a “hurt/comfort with a bit of angst” piece when I’m sad, I read fluff, lots of fluff. In fact, I had a google doc with a couple of fluff scraps that didn’t fit anywhere else that I would sometimes go back to and read whenever I was sad just because it made me feel good. And then I thought, what if this month was bad for other people too? Would these pieces make them feel good? So I’ve decided to release these instead in a brand new collection I’m going to call “Soft Moments”. Admittedly, they are more like eating a sugary sweet dessert than having a hearty protein filled one-shot meal, but that’s exactly what they are for! They are there for people who need to read something nice on a hard day. Anyway, they aren’t exactly a one-shot, so that’s why I decided to put them in their own collection, rather than adding them to “We Can’t All Be Winners”. In the end, I’ve decided to release the “hurt/comfort” piece another time. This also works out well for my new (ever changing😅) schedule for WCABW, where I am going to do 3 months on, 1 off, 3 on, and so forth! 

Art Corner: While I haven’t done much writing this month, I have gone back to my roots on this blog somewhat and started working on comics again. If you saw one of my earlier posts, you will know that I’m taking a crack at human based comics. They…are absolutely not proportional. But um…variety is the spice of life, right?!?! Anyway, hopefully they will at least be funny, but uh, we’ll see! That said, I'm thinking of eventually switching to digital art so that I don’t have to redraw backgrounds and unmoving characters, but that requires me to figure out how to draw with photoshop on my mini touch screen laptop so uh…………..

Bloodlines Corner (because let’s be honest, it gets its own spot at this point): 

Me: *glares to some far off corner in my google docs* You do realize it’s been months now, right?

Bloodlines: *shrugs innocently*

So I’ve realized I haven’t actually explained the premise of this story to most people on this blog, so here we go. Originally, Bloodlines was a one-shot in its own series of one-shots based on the idea of “What would happen if Rukia got Hisana’s illness?” However, I realized that I hadn’t really thought it out well enough for an entire series. So then I was going to make it a one off one-shot in a series of one off one shots, thus spawning WCABW. However, it clearly needed more editing, so I decided to release “prestigious school au” instead. Fast forward several months and not only am I still editing it, but that one-shot turned first into a multi-part and eventually a multi-chapter fic, all the while the events of the story still staying within the same time period, and therefore taking place over the course of one day. It is… utterly ridiculous. 

So anyway, it’s pretty long now, (well for me anyway, it’s almost 30 pages), which makes it take forever to edit. Unfortunately, I think that has caused the back chapters to suffer a bit, because for some reason I always prefer to edit things in order, so by the time I get to the end I’m pretty mentally exhausted. Therefore, I’ve decided to divide it up by only editing one chapter a day to make it easier on myself. Hopefully this will work out, and I can have it out by like August or something, but we will see! (Not being done until December is unfortunately still probable! 😅)

*Sigh* Welp, this has gotten long, but this month has been even longer so I guess it’s appropriate. In any case, thank you all for reading! The new fluff-filled anthology series should be out by the end of the month. Like I said earlier, it’s more like having dessert than dinner, but sometimes that's just what you need! Week 1 Evaluation of working on Sacred Liminality the comic

This week I overwhelmed myself.

First it started off with excitement!

That snowballed into anxiety.

I let myself get ahead of myself.

I have a lot to learn when it comes to using a digital canvas as a medium. There's even more to learn when it comes to creating comics.

I attempted my first colored piece via cell shading. It's so cool, y'all. But I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo bad at it.

I forgot I needed to use different layers and ended up messing up the piece.

I am still proud of it. It's more than I've ever done! And I definitely learned that I *need* to remember layers are a thing.

I also have so much to remember when it comes to social media.

I have a software I'm using to help me try to keep all of my organization in order... but even so, I'm still having a hell of a time.

Part of this is due to my failing to acknowledge that I require time to set all of this up.

I got plenty done. Two character sketches, one kinda rendered, and a comic strip with 5 panels. Plus, add on setting up and editing multiple different social media platforms to look kinda similar. (Koji, Tumblr, Twitter, Reddit, Imgur, and ComicFury). I even attempted to set up a website. By then, I was way to overwhelmed to get past setting up a basic domain name.

What I've learned is I need to scale back, and I think I'm going to push back the release date. I can put out bad art. That's fine with me. Actually that's one of my goals. Put out bad art. Just put out, honestly. Haha (I'm a sex novel character *wink wink*).

As I revaluate, I think I want to set it up so I have a month to get pages started and inked. This will give me time to also actually practice and learn how to cell shade properly. I also want to do a bit more re-working on the comic page I have. I may post it with this just as a reference for myself of where I started.

I also want time to work on other pieces so I can give my brain a break from working on the comic page. I want to be able to look at it with some freshness before posting. This distance will - hopefully - allow me to critique my art, make changes, and ultimately make it better in the end.

Other things that came up - I'm an anxious bean. I'm horribly scared of what other will think of my work. Like on one hand, I want important people I look up to see it and be like 'Hey, you're a badass,' but I don't want to put out my art because jeezus christ some asshole is gonna say something mean and I'm going to be a bawling sack of tears. (And my run on sentences are strong with this one).

Then there's the lingering issue of feeling like a failure because I am not keeping to my initial time tables I set for myself. Even now I want to cry because it's like 'Fuck, I use to be able to do this.'

Mind you, for reference since many of you know nothing about my life, I am currently thirty. I haven't produced art at a regular rate since high school back in 2008-2011. Because of life, I let my art go. My art is kinda like a time capsule in that way. It still reflects the knowledge my brain and body has of drawing and coloring of a high school student.

While that doesn't bother me because art is just something I can get better at, it does suck when I remember creating as if it was breathing. I would walk into a class, sit down, and doodle or sketch or continue on a project. And it wasn't like I didn't have worries back then. I just could push them to the side. Art would take over, and I'd create.

Now I have to shovel through more of my brain shit before I can start. the process is a bit more stiff. I have to work at doing art... and I know that will change as I progress... but damn man, I'm shaming myself for not having the skills and progress of my 17 year old self.

I've been through worst. This won't stop me of course. I am just in the midst of finding that internal kindness that will help me.

Journaling has always helped. That is part of why I built it into my process. First views and ya know interacting with a creator... All that marketing jazz. But also, like, I kind hope it humanizes me. Maybe someone else will see it and say they've experienced similar. It's always nice to not feel alone.

Creating can be lonely, especially people just starting out on their own. I know I feel alone sometimes. Thankfully, I am strong enough to lean on myself. Haha

I don't really have any special way of ending this other than simple promo stoofs.

Promo Stoofs Ahead

Hey, I'm writing/drawing/promoting a comic.  This will be my personal little experiment using my newest deck of cards. Being a bit high, I was illuminated with such a fantastical idea which I am now bestowing (or cursing) upon the internet. I have no idea at the time of writing this what the plot will be, who will be the main characters, nor what words shall be spoken. Accompanying each tarot inspired panel shall also be optional written pieces connecting each panel via delicately chosen (or incredibly rushed) words for thine eyes to feast upon. Come along and enjoy the chaos as we both discover the next panel together.

As of now the comic won't be dropping until Dec 21st, 2022 or in pagan terms - Yule! I'm hoping to gift - possibly curse - the world with my art (and myself with a well created comic). Anything I release before then will be of course promotional in nature.

Top 9 best NFT platforms for buying and selling

Thousands of NFTs that were previously considered the newest craze in technology and attracted celebrities, artists, and even Melania Trump have now been rated almost useless. 69,795 out of 73,257 NFT collections have a market cap of zero ether, according to a recent research by dappGambl that examined data from NFT Scan and CoinMarketCap, leaving 95% of those who possess NFT collections, or 23 million people, with worthless investments. To verify ownership and authenticity of a digital resource, such as a picture, video, or text, NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are a type of crypto asset. The allegation comes almost two years after the NFT craze swept over artists and celebrities alike, with many flocking to buy NFT collections of the Matrix and Bored Ape Yacht Club avatars. The cryptocurrency entrepreneur Sina Estavi garnered media attention in March 2021 when he paid $2.9 million for an NFT of the first tweet sent by the former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. A limited edition digital artwork of the former first lady's eyes was part of the Melania's Vision NFT collection, which she introduced in December 2021. According to the analysis, the sharply downward market change surrounding these crypto assets highlights the importance of conducting comprehensive due diligence before making any transactions, especially ones that have a large value. This terrifying fact ought to act as a sobering check on the exuberance that has frequently accompanied the NFT realm. It is simple to miss the fact that the market is rife with traps and potential losses amid tales of digital art pieces fetching millions of dollars and overnight successes, it added. NFTs still have a place in the future, according to dappGambl experts, despite the NFT market's instability. According to the paper, NFTs must either be historically significant, like first-edition Pokémon cards, true art, or offer genuine utility in order to endure market downturns and maintain their worth.

music in october: a summary

 a lot of new releases and discovery this month!

So..I discovered Magdalena Bay and I'm IN LOVE with their album, Mercurial World, and the EP: A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling. 

The first time I listened to Mercurial World, I wasn't too impressed and really only liked The Beginning. I listened to it again and realised that it loops with The End (the first track) then realised that The End loops with Mercurial World, so I ended up listening to the album again. This time, I liked 3 more tracks. The next listen? 5 more. Overall this is a piece of ART that really grew on me and may require a few relistens to appreciate! Their previous EPs don't suit my tastes too well, except ALRAAWK, where I had a similar experience (having to relisten and realising the tracks grow on me)

Top albums!

LOTS of new releases this month, particularly "idk it's complicated", "The Loneliest Time" and "Midnights". My favourite new release is either Shye's or CRJ's, although they each have some bops and some passes so they won't be charting too high on my overall favourites. I love that Midnights is synthpop, and I'm beginning to really like this niche of pop as shown by Magdalena Bay and my love for the Heartstopper soundtrack. "Midnights" sounds very familiar to me because of this reason, and I definitely like it more on first listen, compared to Folklore and Evermore. I'll definitely give those another listen, but it might mean that Taylor will overwhelm my lastfm stats 😔

In-Depth Reviews

ALBUM REVIEW: idk it's complicated

I love the singles, particularly mirror and phonecase (not so much walk away). Out of the deep cuts, I don't have a favourite,, sometimes I think hi, hello is AMAZING but other times I prefer legally illegal. I really like the vibe of the tracks, but some parts sound a bit "off" to me. For example, the spoken part in legally illegal just doesn't ..hit that spot compared to Mag Bay's Secrets: You think you know me // Wanna show me that you're super in the know! 

Build a life is amazing and deserves to be the single at release! On my first listen, it was my favourite track, but that preference swings a lot. Similarly, I used to not like everything has changed, but it's beginning to grow on me :)

Overall a solid 7/10, I'm still a bit confused about my exact feelings about this album

I only give 10/10s to albums/EPs with no skips

9/10 means I liked a majority >75% of the album, as well as the general concept (liked as in, I would replay the shit out of the tracks, and I like them individually). Bonus points (9.5/10) if hearing one makes me want to listen to another 

8/10s and 7/10s mean that I liked around 50% of the album, the differences lie in how much I like the tracks by themselves

6/10s: I like <50% of the album (or I might only have 2-3 tracks I actually like), so I'd prefer to skip listening to the album as a whole, and really only stream the tracks I like

hope i find better music to replace some of the bottom single digits,, i didn't think 5SOS5 and CRASH would make it into my top 10

Day 7 Art

Now that I've given some information about Flickering Out (specifically Day 7) I figure now's a good time to release some art I made for it. Now's probably the first time I can post these while having the audience have any idea what's going on. Also I may put in some sneaky exerts from Day 7, y'know, for fun.

Now I'd give headers for the artwork's titles but I kinda gave them dumb names like

The Big Scary Demon Pegasus

Its telepathy is interrupted by a terrible, earsplitting screech. Atsume has teleported herself onto its back, and is now wrapping her arms around its neck. This takes Durkuat by surprise, as it opens its beak to scream.

It sounds halfway between an eagle's squawk and a woman's scream. It lasts a dreadfully long time before Atsume reaches her arms up to its head, and eventually its beak. I lie petrified as she tries to yank the beak off. Durkuat bucks wildly, violently trying to fling her off its back, but Atsume must have a grip of steel, because she manages to stay on. ... With three good tugs the beak tears away from its head.

This piece is actually a redraw of something I made traditionally. I made it for a school Book Week contest where I had to draw something illustrating "my story," or something like that. I actually left it to the last minute so I spent all my classes on the deadline date drawing it. Ah... don't worry, I wasn't doing anything during those classes anyway. I won that contest, though I'm not sure if that's because mine was genuinely the best or if I was the only one who entered. I was the only one in my grade, at any rate.

Day 7 Comic

Yeah that's literally the title in the filename - very creative I know.

I glance at Durkuat. Still screaming as though it is in pain, it has now started to glow white. Not wanting to witness whatever change of form comes next (good or bad), I silently agree, and we're on the run again. ... Suddenly I'm startled by someone grabbing me by the back of my collar. Instinctively, I turn around and knock them away with my arm.

...She has to be Durkuat. She's got the same bands of blood around her face. And then she speaks. It's a horrible sound. Her voice is strained, it breaks as though it hasn't been used in centuries. She slurs like she's forgotten how to make the sounds. A mixture of saliva and blood leaks out of her mouth. It's a horrifying sight. The worst part is, I don't think she has a tongue. ...

“Come on, Sonwy!” calls Atsume. I glance back, Atsume's waiting a bit up ahead. “I’m sorry,” I say. And I run.

Those are some very abridged exerts there. Sorry, had to do that, otherwise this post would've been wayy too long. And it's pretty long as is. I suppose this is actually Durkuat/Nori's visual debut on this blog. Not ideal... I have a Tiansei explanation post that's been in my drafts for the past two months, and at this rate I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to finish it.

The Nightmare

Another digital redraw, but god do I love this one. Looks like a movie poster... or book cover... That's ironic. As the title says this is more of a nightmare and not something that actually happens, and ah, Durkuat doesn't actually look like that. I should... I should probably finish that Tiansei explanation post.

Also note to anyone reading this: don't Ctrl+Z while writing posts. You can only redo once and it's never the amount you undid. I had to write that intro three times.

Request: hiii!! you’re writing is so amazing! i can really feel the emotion in every one of your pieces and i really admire you! i remembered seeing an artist from the obey me fandom drawing like a parellel universe where the player is a part of the original game and the characters are the ones enamored and spending all their money on trying to get them. i thought it would be cool to see that for genshin and i think your writing would suit it! you can write about any character you would like, but if it isn’t too much to ask, would you throw in some albedo and xiao crumbs? i hope you have a nice day/night!! I just want to say this is such a cute idea and I was tempted to isekai the fuck outta this, but that would be overkill ahahahha! This was so fun to write and I got instantly inspired, my goodness - here's my take! With new headers to get in the mood, credits in the tags!

Albedo the Fanartist

Albedo is a hardcore gamer that knows almost everything about the game, from lore to theories, to the best set up and farming routes.

This man found out about your character for a long while even before your release because of the leaked data content he'd been following for a while, your intricate design was the first thing that caught his attention, seeing as your skills and stories had yet to be published.

How he pulled you: Pity. He perfectly mastered the pity system to get you the moment your banner was open, and my goodness, was he checking for it every minute after the old banner was gone.

The first thing he does is take pictures, walk around, admire your voicelines and your animations. He's WHIPPED. He wants every bit of content related to you.

To the point that he himself ended up pioneering the fanart community dedicated to your character. His digital arts were always god-tier and had made a lot of players simp/pull for you when they weren't planning to do so.

Albedo was known by the community as the biggest (Y/N) simp and he carries that title proudly.

He already had notes about your lore, story and your connections to the main storyline and other characters. Most of the facts he already remembers by heart.

Would definitely buy official merchandise of you, especially and most definitely figurines!

He mains you in traveling to the point that your character feels more like the main character in the many times he had used you by default. He's just really in love with your design!

Had made many different kinds of fanarts regarding you, like modern, cross-dressing, royalty, 18+, and commissions.

Maxed out your constellation and unlocked all the stories and voicelines. You don the best artifact in the game and NEVER leaves his main team, unless it's absolutely necessary.

Had been caught daydreaming about you multiple times, truly a fanboy, has definitely flexed you more than enough times to his friends.

"Their design is unique and flexible, easy on the eyes yet intricate enough to make you look. If it were an option, I'd change the main character to them."

Xiao the Lucky Puller

Xiao doesn't really care much about characters as he's a normal free to play gamer who works with what he has, and isn't obsessive with trying to get featured characters to the point of whaling.

How he pulled you: Insane luck. He wanted to take a shot in the dark to either get a nice new weapon or the other characters in the banner since he knew he won't have enough primogems to actually get you. Then lo and behold, you appear at his first ten pulls?!

You're probably, most definitely, his first five star and he is silently livid at the idea. He's also probably the only one to have it in his friend group so he would show his pull to their discord server immediately.

He has ZERO clue on how you operate tho, so he's gonna take his sweet time trying to figure out your builds and your gameplay/skills.

When he gets the feel of you, he begins using you more and more, still prideful of his first five star and lucky pull. His friends can't argue since you won't come home to them~

He indulges himself with reading your story and listening to your voicelines the most, to the point that he can tell apart your voicelines from the other characters. If there was a voiceline where you sing, GOOD SHIT-

He has you as his icon, and his signature is vaguely dedicated to your character.

You are part of his main team and built more for either support or sub dps. His most favorite part about you is your voicelines really, and your uh idle animation.

He's infatuated but does not outright accept nor deny that you are his game waifu. Secretly tho, he has read fanfiction for you before and may or may not have wrote one too

He really likes the isekai ones uhu

Had tried to cook the real life recipe of your signature dish, and it turned out really great!
