any tips and tricks for getting into the writing zone?
ok so i have 2 methods and they depend on what i'm writing on: story writing and essay writing (waring: this is a mini-ramble)
with essay writing,
get mad, get super fucking mad, write that shit with spite flowing in your veins. even when i'm writing essays and stories i enjoy, i drag my feet.
i whine and complain like a toddler in my head because despite this topic being one i enjoy, putting my excited tones and rambling into coherent words always tends to feel like i'm butchering that (which is why academic papers should simply let me swear in them and use the 1st pov bc it is sO easy and my thoughts flow a lot better but noooOOOOoooooOOOOOooooo, i have to be formal and proper and-)
also, outlining. fucking godsend with essays. it's why a lot of my longer essays have headings bc i use them to outline and keep my thought on one line of thought bc i have a rambling issue (which is then easily solved with parentheses, my beloved)
with story writing (notice how this is basically a heading? good job! you've found my mini outline for this reply! have a cookie 🍪)
i find that jotting down that scene that is nagging at your brain immediately is super helpful. and do it even if you're now writing out of order. pro-tip: writing out of order is THE best, endorphins be going crazy bc you're actually not fighting with your brain with the story but writing alongside your brain-map.
personally, i find it very difficult outlining a story (how contrary) because sometimes my mind changes ideas or switches the order of scenes, and it is exhausting trying to keep up with all of that in your outline. but i guess, my "outline" with stories is simply me jotting down a very quick summary of the plot that invaded my mind in one document, never touching it again, but staying true to it because i wrote it down. therefore, it exists no longer in the recesses of mind but it a physical statement/promise to complete.
also (this advice goes for both story and essays) it is ok to take a break, step back, and not look at your writing for some hours, days, weeks, months, years--fucking whenever.
my midterm essay? a fucking nightmare. loved the topic, would write something similar about it for fun, but the reason it took me so long to complete (and why i dragged my feet) was because of the "short" timeline i had to complete it. i felt like i was on a time crunch and that led to me procrastinating, stressing over it, and taking my grand old time researching for it. however, when i was able to work on it? i allowed myself to simply do as much as i could. if i was unable to look at that stupid document, i didn't look at it. if my mind had a really good thought or example for the topic rotating in my head? immediate sit down and get that thought onto the paper. it must exist.
i have fics sitting in my folders that have been unfinished in so long, but i still consider them as wips because (and here’s another subpart-advice) i tend to work on them when i am unable to touch my current work. to be frank, working on something else helps keep you in the writing zone even if you cannot stand to look at the blank/unfinished work you wanted to complete originally. when i was incapable of writing for the Monkie Destiny Challenge, i switched to working on writing and editing my teen wolf fic (a fic i had not looked at since July) because while i still had that itch to write, something was blocking me from completing the prompts. and when i switched fics, getting into the zone was a lot easier.
so, to recap:
when jumpstarting the writing zone for writing an essay, you get passionate (can be read as mad/spiteful), and outline your thought process of the essay with headings to keep the writing flow flowing (the headings do not need to stay in the final product but they are good to have in the draft) .
when jumpstarting story writing, write! that! shit! down!!!! chronological order doesn't mean shit when you're in the planning/writing phase. your readers don't have to know that you wrote/planned a character's death before writing/planning out the beginning. they just read it in the order you publish it in!
to keep the writing zone stable and in working condition, TAKE THOSE BREAKS BOO! who cares about your personal deadlines???? if you feel exhausted before opening up a doc, then take that break, babygirl. again, your reader(s) will not need to know (nor do they need to know) how long it took you to get your writing piece done. hell, if you still feel the itch to write but the thing you wanna do is not working, then work on something else you haven't touched in a while because that itch WILL get its scratch somewhere, so help me god.
so yeah, i hope this was helpful, anon (and coherent jfc there better not be a plethora of typos T^T). happy writing, and may your weekend be a healthy dose of eventful!

lee albedo im on my hands and knees 🙏 i like the idea that he'll let people tickle him bc its for Science!!!!!!!
"thahats.. strange."
"strange?" aether confirmed with a smug smile, pressing his fingertips into the alchemist's ribs gently. "its science, isn't it?"
albedo wasn't quite sure when his eyes shut, but he opened them anyways to look aether in the eyes as he attempted to explain. "well, not exactly, its more psychological tha-hah.. aether.."
"albedo," he replied, giddiness visible in his tone. never in a million years would he had ever thought he'd be asked to do this. "ohh.. did you mean a little more like this? you weren't very specific when you asked me to tickle you."
"fohor research.." he reminded, giggling softly into his hand as two sets of fingers scribbled down his sides. "ihi juhust didn't thihink it'd behe so.."
"embarrassing? flustering, maybe?" aether finished his thoughts, focused mostly on the other's expression. "maybe you'll think twice before making me your test subject now, huh?"

Hi Alex! I was wondering what the boys would do if they were trying to go out with someone who's super oblivious (or maybe just thinks that there's no possible way that someone actually has feelings for them) and they just weren't getting the hint?
*pushes up my nonexistent glasses* heheh *starts clacking away at keyboard*
(gonna kinda mimic @/wishing-stones formatting style wif these sorta asks n harness their good writing energy)
(these got... super long, so under th read more 't goes. (fkn. Tou's and Snaps' take up my whole screen each. i have no self control lmao.) also jus a heads up. Snaps' mentions ~sexual relations~ lol)
----------
Tic is subtle and has a hard time being straightforward. He'd built up the courage to tell them several times, over several months. Each time, pushing himself to get less subtle about it.
The first few were mixed into bad jokes. "knock knock" "who's there" "a sphinx" "a sphinx who" "a sphinx I like you". Every time, they laughed and blushed, but then assumed it was just a joke.
The last couple of times weren't even mixed into jokes, yet they still assumed he was just messing around.
This time he goes all out. He brings them somewhere beautiful, maybe under a starry sky, and after watching the stars for a bit, he grabs their hands and tells them he loves them. And when they still don't believe him, he brings them close. Inches from a kiss, and tells them he's 100% serious. He shuts them up by closing the gap before they can deny it again.
Tac has been very obviously flirting with this person for about a month, but he guesses he flirts with a lot of ppl, so it's not too farfetched to think he's just like that, so he steps up his game.
He gets more romantic with it. He gets them flowers and asks them out. (He'd asked them out a few times before, but they thought he was just being his usual flirty self. Which wasn't entirely wrong, but doesn't mean he wasn't serious.)
When they think he's just messing around again, he pulls them in with a hand on the small of their back. He assures them that he's 100% serious, and brings them into a deep kiss.
Tou is already very physically affectionate with his friends. Anything they'll allow. Holding hands, kissing their forehead/cheek, friendship cuddles. But with his best friend/crush, he always lingers longer than with the others.
He's absolutely ecstatic that they like the physical affection, but he wants more. He kisses their cheek often, and wishes he were kissing just an inch or two over, but they just don't see what his constant physical affection and lingering touches mean, so he gets more verbally affectionate.
Tbh, his verbal affection was already strong too, so this doesn't do a lot either, but he'd thought if he's now constantly calling them cute, beautiful/handsome, stunning, etc, they'd get the hint.
One day he leans into them, grabs their hand, and calls them the most attractive person he's ever met. He thinks surely they'll have to get the hint now, but they still think he's just being nice.
He gets a little frustrated and picks them up, tossing them over his shoulder, and ports into his room. (He rarely ports outside of battle training.) He sits them on his bed and sits next to them, grabbing their hand and leaning in a lot closer this time.
He kisses their hand, not breaking eye contact for a moment. He tells them he loves them, and that he's not just being friendly, and once they finally get it, he brings them into his lap for cuddles.
Snaps honestly takes a very long time himself to realize he actually wants to be with this person rather than just fuck them. Anyone else would have realized he has feelings for them far before he did.
They've been friends with benefits for months before he realizes it (with some help from his boss).
Once he's done having a crisis about having emotions he was sure didn't exist in him, he goes straight to their apartment and tests the waters.
He makes them a nice breakfast before they get up (tics not bothering him this time, as he's too focused on making it good for them). He holds their hand while they watch TV instead of holding their thigh/waist. He kisses their hand before they leave for work, and sneaks in the pet name "honey" rather than the usual "bunny" as he sees them out.
All of this, they only seemed mildly suspicious of, or flushed at and waved it off, so he gathers that he has to go further with it.
When they get back, he greets them with flowers at the door, dressed well, in a nice button-up and some dress pants. (Tho, he's still wearing his fingerless gloves.)
He leads them to the table, where he'd set up a candle lit dinner. (Food delivered from one of their favorite places, bc he wasn't confident he wouldn't mess up a fancy dinner.)
When they assume he's just buttering them up to ask if they can do something new in bed, he chuckles and assures them this isn't about sex anymore (tho he wouldn't mind that after dinner). His eye light appears, and he leans in, grabbing their hands, and he tells them he wants to be more with them, that he thinks he loves them.

RE the Orym/Fearne convo; do you think they’re actually planning on killing Imogen or just incapacitating her?
On the one hand these people are a threat to the Air Ashari and have attacked them before, and I can easily Orym being this ruthless.
On the other hand, I don’t see why Orym would delegate to Fearne unless they were talking about taking her out non-lethally? She seems much more suited to (and less conflicted about) being the distraction.
(I also think it would be kind of hilarious for Ashley and Liam’s plan to just be “knock her out, grab her, leg it” and for the two of them to have chosen just the most euphemistically loaded way possible to discuss this at the table)
Sorry for the delay on this, my brain is cooperating excellently and thats why it took multiple days to watch a two minute conversation. Now that I HAVE seen it, with the caveat of still not having watched the rest of the episode:
I think the plan is to do whatever is needed, in the moment- the conversation felt more like trying to prepare themselves for the possibility, not just for "taking Imogen out" but for acting against her at all. Acknowledging the amount of danger Imogen poses, locking eyes, asking each other: are you with me? always.
They both say, at different points through the conversation: this probably wont be necessary. I'm sure it will be fine. Itll be good! There are already so many things to worry about. But that silent "if", was finally spoken too. If its not fine? If the worst comes to pass? If Imogen becomes another concern, in the middle of hell?
Orym asking Fearne to do the deed was a little surprising, but rewatching that exchange, and thinking about the opposite, I think it makes sense. Fearne is well suited for a distraction, yeah, but- this is more than that. This is an intentional deception against someone Fearne likes very much, that Fearne really cares about. It would be a deception intended to end in harm to something she loves. I think that's very different from the lies Fearne likes to tell. I think it would be- difficult, at best.
On top of that- Imogen is dangerous. They love her, but they know- she is powerful, immensely so. And so against them- she is dangerous.
The person in the "distraction" role is the one most likely to be in danger. im not sure Orym could contend with giving that role to Fearne, even if it means the final moves are less lethal than is necessary.
(Maybe there is a part of him that hopes for that, too. Neither of them want to do this. Both of them hoping for the best. But Fearne is the one to raise the worry, and Orym is the one to voice the hard possibilities. he has to be. If it comes down to it- if- the roles are bad either way. Its all going to be a nightmare.
If it comes down to it- if. Orym asked Fearne: Are you with me? and Fearne said: Always. And that's what it boils down to, right? No matter what they plan out, if it all goes to hell, it'll come down to the trust, and whatever happens from there.)
(I agree. Fearne seems less suited for this kind of lethality, against someone she loves. Duty over emotion. But also. Fearne loves all these people, and maybe loves Orym a little extra. And if push comes to shove, Fearne trusts Orym, the most. His judgement, his love, his guidance. And so. Are you with me? Always.)

You have given me a great joy in life with your Renkaza au
May I ask, what happened to the rest of the Kamado family? Did they get their canon ending or are they with Nezuko as they try to deal with her new demonification?
oh yay im glad you're enjoying it so far! 🥰
nezuko's actually with her brother in the box, like in canon lol. i just havent drawn her--or inosuke or zenitsu--in the panels we've seen, but they're there!
as for the rest of the kamados... i actually havent decided LOL. my instinct is to save everyone, since this is a light-hearted comic strip, but also i'm not sure i'd be able to reliably write that since it involves more plot than the "stupid jokes loosely following canon" i mostly have written down aha. so i suppose it's a surprise for now, even for myself.
i guess we'll see!

Steddie prompt:
Eddie's always a bit lonely because Steve spends so much time with Robin and the kids, but he doesn't want to say anything to Steve because he's worried about being broken up with, so he asks his band mates for advice instead.
Gareth 'just happens' to need to go to family video the next day and drops a seriously 'big hint' to Steve, who promptly arranges a special date night.
(No major angst, just two silly 19-20ish year olds being silly)
Eddie had been acting distant, a little quieter than usual and Steve couldn’t quite put his finger on it. It felt familiar to Steve, reminded him of the time before Nancy broke his heart, he half wondered if Eddie was heading down the same road. In turn, he sought out comfort from those he knew best, dreading the inevitable. He spent more time with Robin, more time driving the kids around without protest, more time with Dustin. The whole time trying to keep his mind occupied and away from the doubts that Eddie was leaving him.
“I’m just saying, Steve, you might have the whole situation wrong.” Robin flitted about, putting away some video tapes in the empty store. Nobody had come in for over an hour and Robin finally managed to drag out what had Steve in distress. He knew he could tell her anything but sometimes he held it too close to his heart and felt like he was giving away too much. Like if he told her enough that one day she would turn her back on him, never look back and leave him folding like a piece of paper in the wind.
“Rob, I’m telling you. He’s pulling away, I don’t know what I did wrong.” He didn’t mean to sound so defeated but the way Robin came back over to the counter and put her arm on his shoulder made him realize how much he hurt. Eddie was it for him, Eddie was all he wanted, all he had. If Eddie broke his heart, he knew he wouldnt recover. So maybe he was foolish for wanting to hang on, maybe he was stupid for wanting this to all just be some misunderstanding but he hoped it was just a phase in their relationship and they could work past it.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, but I think you’re just looking at it inccorectly.” She replied, and he sighed, running his hand through his hair and dropping his voice to a whisper as the door opened and someone came through.
“I always look at everything incorrectly it seems.” He grumbled and she opened her mouth to reply, probably to tell him off, when there was a throat clearing behind him. He closed his eyes for a second, wishing whatever customer it was would just go away and leave him alone, before he turned around with the fake customer service smile he’d perfected.
“Hey, Steve.” He didn’t expect to see Gareth, stone faced and looking slightly pissed off.
“Gareth? Is Eddie okay?” He was immediately concerned and Gareth’s face softened slightly before he seemed to remember why he was there.
“Eddie’s fine…well, less than fine. Listen, I don’t care for you that much.”
“Okay? Ouch.” Steve muttered, he thought Gareth was the nicest out of all of them but that was proving to be difficult right now. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, hardening his glare at Steve.
“Okay, I do care. We are…friends sort of. Whatever. Not why I’m here, man. I dont care what you get up to in your spare time, but Eddie is my best friend and I know how much he cares about you.” Steve got the feeling he was being lectured, but he didn’t know why. “I may not understand whatever you two bonded over, and why he’s in love with you, but I do know him almost better than myself. And you, Steve Harrington, would do well to remember he exists sometimes. Maybe just remind him that you love him, or something.”
“What?” Steve stared at Gareth, confused and definitely feeling like he’d been pulled into the principal's office for a lecture on skipping class. “What are you talking about?”
“Seriously?” Gareth sighed, rubbing his hands over his face. “First I’ve had to deal with Eddie’s moping all day and now this. I’m going to go grey before I’m eighteen.” He grumbled, mostly to himself. Eddie was moping? Steve really did mess up somehow. “Okay look, I wasn’t going to spell it out for you but I will now. Take him out for dinner or something, Steve. He thinks you don’t want to hang out with him anymore and that you’re going to break up with him.” With that, Gareth tapped the counter and headed back towards the door muttering to himself about needing a break from everyone for at least a week.
“Told ya, you definitely read the situation wrong.” Robin mumbled as the door closed but Steve was frozen in horror.
“Eddie thinks I’m breaking up with him?” He stared at the door, a million thoughts running through his head before he glanced at Robin.
“Go, just go Steve. Get your man. If Keith asks me I’ll break out the bone saw.” He kissed her on the top of her head and vaulted over the counter.
“Love you! I’ll call you tomorrow!”
***
He took a deep breath, fixing the collar of his shirt and hesitating as he stood at the door to Eddie’s trailer. The situation reminded him eerily of the first time he came to ask Eddie out. The night sat in Steve’s favourite memories folder, where he kept everything he wanted to remember when he was old and grey and couldn’t remember much of anything. The way Eddie’s eyes shone with hope when Steve stumbled through his confession, the soft pink colour his cheeks turned after they’d kissed for the first time. Steve wanted to treasure every moment with Eddie, and in order to do that, he had to fix their miscommunication.
He took another breath, and knocked on the door.
“Steve? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Eddie’s expression was guarded and it hurt Steve a little that he’d put it there.
“Robin’s covering for me, had to see you. Wanted to see you, actually.” Eddie stared at him for a second, eyes searching, confusion plain on his face before he tilted his head up the roof and groaned.
“Gareth needs to learn to keep his stupid mouth shut.” He grumbled, but stepped aside and let Steve in behind him, heading towards his room as Steve followed.
“I’m glad he didn’t.” Steve said casually, following Eddie onto his bed. He sat down on the edge of the bed, wondering if Eddie was going to think it as funny as he did. Not that he found it funny, but he did find it ironic that they were both stressing about the same thing.
“You’re glad?” Eddie flopped backwards onto the bed and stretched his arms like a cat towards the ceiling before turning to face Steve. He laid back and turned to Eddie, reaching up and linking their fingers together.
“Yeah, see.” Steve pulled their hands towards his face and pressed light kisses to Eddie’s knuckles, accenting each of his words. “Here I was this morning, telling Robin that my life is over because my boyfriend is going to break up with me, only to find out that he was doing the same thing to his best friend.” Eddie didn’t look away from Steve, holding his gaze for a moment before he let out a breathy laugh.
“We’re so fucking stupid.” Steve grinned at him,
“Yeah we are.” He rolled towards Eddie using their joined hands to pull Eddie close enough to him for their noses to brush. “I've been thinking…”
“Oh, that never leads to anything good.” Eddie teased, eyes crinkling at the edges as he fought a smile. Steve could count every freckle on Eddie’s face, memorize every line. He pulled back at the words, rolling back onto his back and turning his gaze to the roof.
“Just for that I’m not going to tell you.” He replied, mostly teasing. It worked, it pulled a giggle out of Eddie and he shifted. He moved to straddle Steve’s hips and rest his hands beside Steve’s head on the bed. Steve’s hands dropped down to thumb at Eddie’s waist and he took a moment to relish this picture.
“Tell me, sweetheart.” Eddie murmured, lifting his hand to trace Steve’s brow.
“Well…I have two options. One is we take at least one night a week just for us.” Eddie’s face grew softer, his hair tumbling over his shoulders and surrounding his face as he ducked his head. “Because, as much as I love Robbie, and the kids. I really do want to spend more time with you, I’d follow you to the ends of the world if I had to.” Eddie leaned down and closed the distance between them, pressing his lips softly to Steve’s.
“You already know I’d follow you into hell, I already sort of did.” Steve rolled his eyes and lightly pinched his side. “But that sounds like your best idea yet.”
“I knew you’d say that.” Steve whispered, pulling Eddie back towards him and silencing him for a bit longer. Finally, Eddie pulled away, rolling off of Steve and curling into his side.
“Sorry I didn’t talk to you.” Eddie mumbled and Steve wrapped him up in his arms. “I didn’t want you to feel like I was making you choose…I would never make you choose. I just didn’t feel as important for a bit there, now I know I was being foolish.”
“You don’t have to apologize, Eds. I’m sorry too, sorry I didn’t talk to you either and instead pulled away…I didn’t know what else to do.” Eddie nuzzled further into Steve’s embrace, looking like he was attempting to fuse himself with Steve’s body.
“Don't worry, we’re both idiots. Idiots in love, and idiots in love we shall be. Just…let's talk about it in the future instead of hiding it.”
“Agreed.” Steve pressed a kiss to Eddie’s forehead and sighed lightly. They lapsed into a comfortable silence as the light of day started fading into night.
“Oh, what was your second thing you wanted to say?”
“Right, I almost forgot. I found us a house, if you wanted to move in with me…we can sign the papers tomorrow.”
“What?!”

can i request a dk imagine about y/n getting jealous bc he kissed a girl in a play. and i’ll let you decide what else happens ☺️ your writing is amazing btw 💕
hi thank you so much! here you go!
so you knew dokyeom was the main lead in the play. it was a petty big deal that he landed the main role for a beginner and rookie and you were so so proud of him! he deserved it so much and you even called and maybe forced all your friends to attend his play when it was showing. you eagerly watched from your seat as dokyeom played his part perfectly, looking so bright and radiant on stage. he was shining. you were so happy and were literally on the edge of the seat the whole time as you silently cheered on for him. during on of the scenes his eyes found yours and he let out a small smile.
the play was ending now and in the end, he gets the girl and they have a happy ending. you watch as dokyeom cups the girl's cheek and leans in to kiss her. the kiss lasts about five seconds but you watch as he pulls away. you knew it was part of the play and you shouldn't be jealous and make anything out of it. he was just being professional and that there was nothing else to it. but still, you couldn't help but feel the itty bitty pang of jealousy tug at your heart when you saw him kiss the other girl.
the play ends and you go to meet dokyeom backstage, gushing about how good he did and how proud you were of him. the entire cast was going out for dinner to celebrate, and dokyeom invited you to join him. you ended up being seated on the far end from him, the main lead girl and another girl sitting next to him. you didn't mind but secretly you were a bit sad.
you're quiet the entire dinner because you aren't really familiar with anyone so you just nibble on some food and drink. dokyeom glances at you many times, silently asking if you were okay and you nod. you didn't want to ruin the night for him because of your stupid mind. one of the guys brings up the kiss, saying how cute dokyeom and the main girl looked together and that just made the jealousy in your heart start to stir and simmer. you bit back from saying anything. finally the dinner is over and everyone is heading home. you and dokyeom go back home and he walks you to your apartment even thought you said you could go alone.
"hey", he says. "you okay?", he adds reaching out for your hand. he holds it so gently and it's such a comforting embrace.
"yeah! i'm so proud of you baby, you did so well", you say, giving him a small smile. "thanks, you know i couldn't have done it without you. you played a huge part in helping me practice the lines", he replies.
silence engulfs you both and he can't take it anymore because he knows. "y/n, just tell me hm", he prompts. "what?" "you know...are you jealous?", he asks carefully. "NO", you say a little two quickly. "i'm not...really...", you say and he gives you a look. "it's stupid okay, i shouldn't be bothered by it", you finally admit. "it's dumb just forget about it", you mumble, eating half of your words.
he chuckles softly and looks at you so fondly. "it's not stupid or dumb y/n. it's natural and it's okay if you're jealous. i would be jealous too if i was in your place", he explains.
"i'm sorry", you softly say. "don't be", he whispers, kissing your forehead.
"now let me make it up to you hm?", he says with a playful grin, as he cups your cheeks and softly presses his lips to yours.

when it comes down to it, however much i think about eiffel's memory, whatever my reasoning might be, i think there's a much simpler core explanation for why i feel the way i do. i've said before that, if eiffel did regain his memory, i would want it to happen through 'an eiffel version of change of mind' i.e. a personal inner journey where the narrative he tells himself amounts to some greater reminder, self-confrontation, and self-realization. and that's just it:
eiffel regaining his memory wouldn't be a cop out to me for the same reason that lovelace not actually dying isn't a cop out: it's not just a story beat, it's a catalyst for character development & a better understanding of lovelace as a person. eiffel has spent his whole life trying not to be the person he is, and i just don't feel wolf 359 is the type of story to let him off the hook for that, when the ending is as much about accountability (to ourselves and to others and all the ways those responsibilities overlap) as it is about hope. i think there are ways you could argue that eiffel can still be eiffel without regaining his memory, but i think i've convinced myself that the symbolic resurrection / self-confrontation and acceptance of all the people he's been in the past, in order to move forward, is the more compelling option, especially for what it parallels, and the "eiffel is still eiffel" part is non-negotiable. it doesn't even feel like a question to me.
(and it makes the most sense to me in the context of eiffel's survivor's guilt - "of course i was fine. the driver's always fine." - and tendency towards a type of self-sacrifice and self-punishment that the show ultimately denies him / that doesn't address his real problem. he thinks sacrificing himself for the people he cares about will make up for something, but it won't. having him make that sacrifice and then keep living and keep being doug eiffel, with everything that means, feels like the natural extension of constructive criticism.)
in another story, or in a more theoretical context, there are all kinds of questions you could ask about whether eiffel's memory loss means he's a different person now, but in this case... i think it's better understood in narrative terms and what it represents for him as a character than any broader philosophical conclusion about the nature of the self and human consciousness. (and it is in no way as absolute as people sometimes behave like it is, considering he still has a concept of, like... everything. but that's a whole other topic of discussion.) most importantly, i just don't believe wolf 359 is a story about ideas as much as it is a story about people, these people, and in order to (hypothetically) continue to tell a story about doug eiffel, well. he has to still be doug eiffel. one way or another.

I fucking HATE how the devs overdramatise Dark Cacao. Like he could have been completely calm whilst fighting Dark Choco and that would have been WAY more in character for him. And the council, god, apart from day 4 when he was talking to clotted they randomly changed his sprite to angry like wtf
I mean, it’s the writers of the game that are making these decisions, so I’m pretty sure this is supposed to be in character for him. I know writers can mess up writing a character consistently sometimes, but I don’t think this is a case of mischaracterization, he’s just supposed to have a bit of a short temper
And as for the Dark Choco situation, I think it makes more sense for him to be angry too. I mean, it’s about his son, one of the most personal things to him, why wouldn’t he get visibly upset about how Dark Choco’s acting? And I mean, him staying calm the whole encounter probably wouldn’t make for good drama

When you think about the tavern excuse in Merlin (the only excuse Giaus seems to know), it makes a lot more sense in the later seasons if you're going under the assumption that Gwaine is just covering for Merlin. Like lying when Arthur asks occasionally while having no idea what Merlin is actually doing because he ain't no snitch.
Just a random thought that occurred to me while I was reading some fanfiction.
i mean, yeah, it does work a lot better and it's more believable if gwaine were the one to tell it.
if i'm remembering right, "the tavern" was used in the beginning of s3 before we meet gwaine and unfortunately, gwaine's stay in camelot that season is short bc he got banished. so, there'd be no way for him to cover for merlin BUT after the whole fisher king episode it would make sense (to arthur, i feel) that merlin would leave camelot to visit gwaine at a tavern bc the two just click.
i have half a mind to guess that arthur turns a blind eye if gwaine were to somehow sneak into camelot just to visit merlin during s3. i know we all joke about arthur being an oblivious idiot when it comes to noticing magic and shit, but the man is observant to a fault. he's got a keen eye (unfortunatley his observations fail when something contradicts a person he believes to know fairly well, and he chooses to ignore it), and it is not that hard to notice the chemistry between merlin and gwaine.
so when gwaine does join the knights in s4 and merlin starts going to "the tavern" more often, arthur could just chalk it up as him and gwaine having a night out. sure, he has to keep up appearances and one day visits gwaine just to remind him that it's not good for his manservant to be hungover almost every week. like, he has a job, ga-waine!
and gwaine just sits there, nods, cracks a joke about how maybe he should lighten merlin's chores, whilst making a mental note to ask merlin about whether or not he'll need him to cover for the man later this weekend. he never asks merlin why he'd need to cover for him (i'm of the belief that gwaine, though never told, had some idea of what big secret merlin was hiding), and merlin never asks gwaine why he'd lie to their king for him.
it's just a silent act of trust and love the two share and by god do i wish this was used because sure, gaius using the tavern is funny and all, but i would kill to have at least one scene where gwaine confirms, that him and merlin were hanging out at the tavern, covering for his friend without question.
