Hazbin Hotel Theory: Eve/Lilith Pulled A Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz...Meaning They Might Be One And The Same
[Note: if you are a fan of both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, but have not watched the new Episode 1 of Hazbin Hotel, but have watched the Pilot before, please watch episode 1 first before reading this Fan theory...]
okay if anyone knows from Charlie telling the story on Lilith and how she of course left Adam (who is pretty much a Peepaw Jerk.) and at some point met Lucifer and then the two gave that forbidden fruit to Eve...
well what if the book that contains Charlie's Parents past, was full of half truth and half lies...?
the part about how the rest of Heaven viewed Lucifer was true, as well as Lilith leaving Adam and not wanting to put up with his selfish bull...
but what if it turns out that was Eve who ran away from Adam, and it was Eve who Lucifer fell in love with...?
like for all we know, "Lilith" could be the name that Eve started to call herself after fully leaving Adam.
Adam and Eve would of already had their kids possibly before they separated, and even before Eve met and fell in love with Lucifer.
but even if the Adam and Eve of that universe weren't legally married in a way...Eve could of still met Lucifer in secret, and I guess that could explain the whole Cain being born, of course even if he might only be brought up in a Fanon Timeline, the chances of him being brought up in the Canon Timeline might be very small.
so yeah, when viewing it in a Steven Universe way...
Eve is the Pink Diamond, and Lilith is Rose Quartz, and Charlie is like Steven...but with some differences.
it would also be a very big plot twist if this fan theory turn out to be true...
and there could be a reason why Charlie is kept in the dark about it, that her Mom, Lilith, is really Eve...
and well for all we know, at some point Adam could of been given a different wife who wasn't really called Eve, but humans from the human world of Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss were made to believe that Adam's new bride was called Eve, but really it wasn't.
it could turn out that Eve is able to switch from her first original form to Lilith, who Adam might have no clue the two women are one in the same person, but still ends up falling for Lilith but still ends up being full of himself...
I'm going to view the whole Eve and Lilith being one in the same in Hazbin Hotel World, until it can be debunked...
and well even if it is, they can still be one in the same in one of the Fanon Timelines.
well I think in real life in the universe we are from, Lilith and Eve may have been one in the same until their souls were cleaved which would be different from a soul fragmenting a small piece of itself and that piece may end up forming it's individual consciousness and become technically that soul who fragmented it, own offspring.
and if Lilith did have a Earth Angel Daughter that was made to help her heal from what Adam and those Three Angels did to her...
but the said Earth Angel ended up losing her life to one of those three angels...then it would make sense that said daughter would be reborn as Eve's daughter, because both Lilith and Eve were one in the same until their soul was cleaved into two...
not everyone has to agree about that, but anyway back to the theory.
it might be possible in Hazbin Hotel, Lilith and Eve are one in the same...
it could turn out that only a few know about that big secret, that being Lilith/Eve herself, Lucifer and the other Kings and Queens of the Other Rings...this could mean that not all the Overlords know about this big secret, and those who are most trusted with it could be Carmilla Carmine and Zestial.
Lucifer and Lilith might of told Carmilla and Zestial, because they trust them with such a big secret more than trusting it with any of the other Overlords.
Lucifer and Lilith possibly have co-made that book of Charlie's to keep her from learning the truth and to keep her in the dark that Lilith use to be Eve, and the second bride of Adam was not named Eve.
if Lilith from Hazbin Hotel and Rose Quartz from Steven Universe,
were to fuse, they could be called Roselith.
wonder how Greg and Lucifer would react to that...?
as much of a jerk Adam is, I don't think even he could escape Rose's charm.
it still be interesting if it turned out the Pink Diamond we see in the flashback where Pearl is telling Sapphire and Steven a bit more of Pink's past and why she became Rose...
that it turned out that Pink in that story, is NOT the same one that left Spinel along in a garden in space or the same one that hurt Pink-Pearl/Vollie also known as Volleyball.
I like the idea that Pink Diamond I, after purposely abandoning Spinel and going to Earth, she made a replacement of herself that might still be a bit selfish but was more kinder than her...
so this Pink Diamond II, would become Rose and end up becoming Steven's Mom...while the Original Pink Diamond I took off to unknown space to form a colony without White, Yellow or Blue's knowledge or the galaxy that Pink I is in with her new Gem Colony.
Earth would still be her colony, but she would leave Pink-II/Rose in charge of it, and it could be possible that not even Pearl and Vollie know the truth about there being two Pink Diamonds.
it could of still been Pink-II who got locked up in that tower as punishment even before learning that her Earth Colony had organic life on it.
anyway, that is just how I view it but not everyone has to agree there might actually be two Pink Diamonds, and only the Pink Diamond-II became Rose and became the Mom of Steven.
I don't know what else to say about the theory about Charlie's Mom Lilith and Eve possibly being one in the same...
and the whole Lilith/Eve pulling a Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz.
I'm still going to view it as Fan-Headcanon and possibly true, at least until it is debunked.

Backstory:
Yellow Diamond left to Earth secretly, a couple years after the final attack with Blue and White on Earth.
Stayed in hiding there, realizing the beauty of Earth, and not wanting to go back to Homeworld because of said realization. Therefore, ordered her colonies to disband, and regroup on a pair of planets on the other side of the galaxy near Earth (a two day trip to and back).
Of course due to pride, it took much longer than she could have with her power to do it all.
Years later, she meets George Kirk, and the two bond over time. Eventually her wanting to give him a gift, a child.
Course it took even longer to come to that conclusion. She still didn’t like humans and organic life as a whole, but she could tolerate/see aspects Pink did to want to let them be.
Though children drooling/spitting up/boogers is her limit of toleration. One reason she decided to give George a child, was in hope by being part gem, their child would less likely do such things….or at least the latter two.
So she had a child, and ironically Steven was born just minutes prior.
Jim though, was still born in space as canon.
George was part of Starfleet, and had a mission which allowed him to invite Yellow for the first time.
He’d already meet her colony, now co-living on a pair of twin planets and his old farmhouse in Iowa.
He figured his captain was taking them on a journey passing by said planets, that the pair travel before settling down on one of said planets.
Said planets are on the other side of the Milky Way, about a 3 day trip to and back. Not seen in Homeworld’s view.
They plan for their kid to get both gem and human education, with other galactic education added when available.
George knew Yellow would not be able to be around when their kid was to be born, so the two prepared as much as possible till said day. Yellow made many videos and wrote a lot of letters to give to Jim throughout his lifetime, a video and letter given after every birthday.
Her colonies helped as well. While it took awhile for them all to get used to said reality, they all pitched in and in turn grew to love Jim when he did come into the world.
Sunny could tell it was his infectious smile that got the colony wrapped around his tiny hands.
Things go wrong though after the canon space birth. Just as the escape pod was about to reach Earth’s surface (Sunny planned a scout ship ahead hours ago after the attack to come pick them up to head to the colony planets), it began to malfunction.
Everyone on board survived, but Sunny poofed.
Jim got lost in the hustle after everyone was brought to land, and so the scout ship Rubies only had a poofed gem to be given.
Of course the Rubies alerted the colonies, and more and more scout ships were sent to Earth to search for their new Diamond.
It wasn’t till days later, security footage from the damaged ship showed a lone human female taking the bundled Diamond boy.
Jim was a sickly baby, and doctors suspected it was due to the crash, kidnapping, and trauma of being born in literal space that caused such to occur.
Years later, Jim isn’t sickly anymore, but he does have a ton of allergies like in canon.
Sunny reforms after a suspect of Jim’s kidnapping was found.
Winona….Sunny began to hate that name.
He was found six weeks later, and Sunny just stashed him in a blanket and head back to the colonies. Leave Pike to do the legal work.
It wasn’t till Jim was around four, that another kidnapping occur. It took a year to get him back this time. He was on Tarsus IV.
The colony was in chaos during his kidnapping period, and almost at times urged to lay war on Earth, but Sunny thankfully shot them down of the idea.
It didn’t help when Sunny came to bring bring Jim home, did she have second thoughts on said invasion.
Malnourished, skin and bones practically, not to mention dirt and grim everywhere.
The worst though was his cracked gem.
Almost completely cracked before he got healed back on one of the colonies planets.
He never spoke of what went down on the planet. But Sunny could tell from the ashen fields that once had crops, the stench of death and decay, and the haunted look in his eyes, a guess of what did.
She didn’t glance at Pike or the actual reports of what Jim told them (meek, shallow voice devoid of emotion yet raw pain). She knew he didn’t speak of everything.
Not even in the book he made of his experience. But enough that the public isn’t too goodie goodie with Starfleet (since apparently Winona was released from prison early for good behavior, but then decided to kidnap Jim again, but this time sent him as far away as she could to get the suspicion off her.)
So no way Starfleet was going to tell the entire truth of the occurrence if it meant a dent in their reputation.
Well too bad Jim was a genius hacker, and basically shared his story to the galaxy without tracing any of it back to him. Starfleet purses him, but he’s got an army of family to defend him and besides…some journalist could have overheard such an event and investigated more. Either way, Starfleet had to back off but has held a grudge on him since it did leave a bad taste of their organization to the rest of the galaxy.
Jim and Steven meet around the time he released his story, which timeline was a year after said event.
Despite Sunny’s worry, the two got along really well, and basically became brothers the moment they meet.
Jim helped Steven train his human and gem self, self defense to figuring out his gem powers.
Jim might have had a chuckle whenever Steven finally figured it out of his powers connecting to his emotions (Episode where he learns of his floating powers basically).
Because Jim was around, Steven wasn’t naive as in canon, but that didn’t stop him from acting nice to Lars and others.
Yeah, despite Lars sort of getting along with Steven (the Homeworld stuff didn’t happen to him, since Jim pushed him out of the ship while he and Steven gave themselves up), he never fully trusted him.
He’s best friends with Sadie though.
Once Steven’s corruption event happened, well, let’s just say Jim might of looked thrown back into his Tarsus IV mode.
The corruption didn’t last long.
Jim’s own corruption didn’t happen till years later.
Years later, Steven has become an author, and Jim decides to be a captain of a gem ship of explorers.
Instead of Starfleet, Jim decided to form his own exploration group.
At first, consisting of Steven (who writes on the side and is the assigned medic), Connie (on the side is the human ambassador of Homeworld who takes calls virtual and stuff), and the Off color gems.
They eventually get the distress signal from Vulcan (let’s say a Vulcan from another time found out of Jim’s gem life), and went to help.
They managed to stop Nero from destroying Vulcan, with both Steven and Jim using their bubble power to shield the planet from Nero’s red matter.
It instead hits Nero’s ship, and causes the ship to get sucked into a black hole.
Which causes the twins to split up, with Steven and the Off Colors using their bubble powers to hold the black hole from sucking up anything else, and Jim to Vulcan’s surface to help with any rescues.
Jim manages to save Amanda before she falls, which happens to lead him to appearing on the Enterprise.
It’s there, Spock and him lock eyes on the transporter.
Pike meanwhile (because of the gem’s help he was delayed from getting on Nero’s ship) wasn’t surprised yet was to see the kid after all these years. Jim falling in love with his first officer didn’t phase him, he just wondered how Sunny was going to take all this.
Sunny was livid. Basically shouted at Pike through the screen while Pearl joined in as well, which made Pike wish for a moment he stopped Jim from helping out on the mission.
Amythest, meanwhile is in the background laughing like crazy, with Peridot looking at her confused.
Lapis was just glad the two were okay.
Garnet just shrugged when Pike asked if she predicted the distress signal and alerted Jim of it.
Hence, the new generations of Starfleet are taught the history of gems, and just why Pike has to take aspirin after meeting with the boys (minus the Tarsus IV thing, Jim may of used his initials JT instead of his real name, but he didn’t want anyone to guess).
Spock, along with the Enterprise crew (+ Cupcake & Scotty) eventually resign from Starfleet, and join Jim’s exploration organization (which still needed a name, but Peridot was persistent she’d make the name so it might be awhile. So the Crystal Crew can work for now…).
Funding? Well it helped part of the crew had an ambassador and the son of another ambassador. Money was just fine for them.
The Sunflower colonies (YD colonies) became both the central home of the exploration organization, but also an education place, which future applicants of the organization with kids could apply them and have constant communication and more time to spend with said kids as it’s a key stopping point before and after every mission.
Jim and Spock eventually marry, ironically have a double wedding with Steven and Connie.
Of course Garnet knew Jim and Spock were t’hy’la, but she wasn’t going to not not have a human wedding for Jim too.
Jim and Spock eventually have a pair of twins (surrogate or idk something). With Vulcan ears and hair, but with bright blue eyes and mixed green/red blood. Alongside partial gem dna, but only enough to create bubbles/healing tears. They already get enhanced everything body wise from Vulcans, like strength.
Despite Spock and Sarek’s argument, Sunny and Amanda spoil them. Jim and Steven just watch from afar and laugh, Connie shaking her head as she lets their little boy go play with his twin cousins.
Trivia
Spock has compared Jim’s “bright yellow form” to the sun. Which makes Jim blush even brighter than the sun.
Jim may or may not have used his stretching gem powers to have saved the day a lot. And maybe for other activities with a certain Vulcan in private.
Khan does appear like in canon, only things change, like Pike doesn’t die (Steven to the rescue alongside Connie cause ambassador will of course be in the meeting), Jim can indeed hit hard at Khan without breaking a sweat, and Jim more poofs than dies in the radiation chamber. Not that it stops Spock from going feral on Khan.
Beyond…eh if you want more flood my inbox with ideas and scenarios!

An Autistic Perspective on Moon Knight (or, Why Steven Grant is not the only autistic alter)
Tumblr media
Sooo Moon Knight really hit me hard. Especially as an autistic person. It hit me so hard, in fact, that it’s brought me back from my Tumblr hiatus. (I haven’t posted since 2018? what???) It was euphoric for me to see an autistic character operate as a superhero within the MCU. Especially Steven. Though Marc and Jake are also autistic — we’ll get to that.
Steven Grant as the audience surrogate wasn’t written as autistic in Jeremy Slater’s original script for the series, but Oscar Isaac took one look at him and basically said, “I’ll relate to this guy more if he’s on the spectrum.” As an autistic person, I actually love that. This choice doesn’t feel exploitative to me, like Rain Man does, for instance; instead, it feels like I’m being seen. I found it meaningful hearing Oscar Isaac say that part of his way into figuring out this role was through delving into a character who happens to be on the spectrum.
I will say that at least to my eye, Oscar Isaac has created a reasonably authentic on-screen portrayal of an autistic character, at least compared to the typical overblown Sheldon Cooper-style of characterization. It is also amazing to see an autistic superhero who is capable, courageous, and strong, even in their most vulnerable moments. Too often, we are portrayed in media as being incapable of having agency within our own lives.
So, in the future, I want to rewatch Moon Knight and analyze the scenes that were particularly impactful for me from the perspective of autistic experience.
But for this post, I want to talk about autism within the context of trauma and mental health. There is an important distinction to be made between Autism Spectrum Disorder and DID in relation to this show, and I haven’t seen a lot of people discussing it in depth.
I am writing this analysis because I believe that an autistic perspective can add some context to certain crucial aspects of this show.
I also want to acknowledge that there is a high degree of co-occurrence between autism and dissociative conditions, including DID. The extreme and constant overwhelm caused by our autistic neurology can lead to dissociative coping mechanisms.
For example, in addition to being autistic, I also depersonalize and derealize, which stems from my sensory processing and social processing issues. Ever since childhood, I dissociate when my nervous system gets too jangled and I’m unable to process the chaos of the world around me.
If Steven Is Autistic, So Are Marc and Jake (and here's why):
I've been seeing a lot of people online celebrating Steven as an autistic character, as in, “Steven Grant is the MCU’s first canonically autistic superhero!” Now, don’t get me wrong, Steven totally is a well-portrayed autistic character; however, I haven’t seen very many people involving Marc and Jake within that discussion of on-screen portrayals of autism.
But if Steven is meant to be on the spectrum, Marc and Jake should be recognized as being on the spectrum as well.
To treat Steven as the only alter who is autistic can inadvertently raise the specter (pun intended) of a harmful and outdated theory on the cause of autism.
So, I want to address two questions: What does (and doesn’t) cause autism? And why are Marc and Jake also on the spectrum if Steven is?
1. Autism Is Epigenetic:
Autism is a genetically inherited neurological variation. It is epigenetic, meaning that there are both genetic and environmental factors that affect each individual’s experience of autism, but you can’t “become” autistic without the genetic factors being present. And if you do have the epigenetic makeup for autism, it is likely that you will have some degree of autistic experience. We still don’t know exactly what this epigenetic makeup is, and I for one hope that we never find out, because Autism $peaks is ready with pitchforks and a eugenics campaign to remove us from humanity as soon as this discovery is made.
Autism’s etiology is not trauma-based. In other words, traumatic experiences can’t “make” someone autistic. However, back in the 1940s, Freudian psychiatrists Bruno Bettelheim and Leo Kanner came up with the “refrigerator mother” theory of autism (they applied it to schizophrenia, as well). They believed that if a mother was neglectful or abusive towards a young child and withheld her love during a critical developmental period, she could cause her child to become autistic. They believed that autistic people could be “cured” of their autism with the right amount of psychoanalysis. These psychiatrists and their disciples subjected countless autistic people to this “treatment” (i.e., torture) for decades.
The "refrigerator mother" theory of autism (and schizophrenia) has since been disproven. The theory was finally rejected in the 1990s when studies of identical twins showed that autism has a high degree of heritability (current research shows that autism’s heritability may be as high as 90%). If you are autistic, the environment (i.e., the people, places, and things around you) will shape your experience of autism, but your environment alone can't “make” you autistic if you don’t have the genetic predisposition for it.
2. If a System Is Autistic, Each Alter Can Have a Unique Experience of Autism:
To frame all of this within the context of Moon Knight, Wendy Spector’s abuse couldn’t “cause” autism within Marc’s system. To put it more bluntly, trauma couldn’t “make” one alter autistic (i.e., Steven), while the rest of the system remained completely allistic.
I know that a lot of you know this; I’ve just seen some troubling posts about this online from people who are neither a system nor autistic, and I needed to say something. Steven isn’t “the MCU’s first canonically autistic superhero” — the system is.
If we describe Steven as autistic, it’s important to acknowledge Marc, Jake, and the other alters within the system as autistic, as well. They would each have their own unique experiences of autism.
Now, there is a whole other discussion to be had about whether the writers and directors of Moon Knight knew this (that’s a big topic for another time). However, my understanding from listening to Oscar Isaac’s interviews and watching his performance is that his intent was to portray the system as neurodivergent, and not just Steven.
As portrayed in the show, Steven seems to do the least amount of masking (i.e., learned behaviors that hide autistic traits in order to protect the individual from harm), which makes him “appear” more autistic to an outside observer.
Within Marc’s portrayal, he seems to have learned to mask more consistently (which would make sense, since he protects Steven physically), and so he behaves in a way that could be interpreted as more allistic.
EDIT: On further re-watches of Moon Knight, while Marc often protects Steven physically, Steven is more of Marc’s emotional and spiritual protector, as I write about in this post. Marc is more of a trauma holder, and he may mask to keep people at bay to avoid further trauma.
As for Jake, it’s hard to tell his degree of masking, since we see him for only a few brief scenes. But extrapolating from his role as an physical and emotional protector in the system, it’s possible that he has learned to mask quite effectively, as well.
As we grow older, many of us autistics learn to mask quite convincingly, myself included. Masking is exhausting, and I hate it, but for me it is what is necessary to have a job. A few people that I work with know that I’m autistic, but most don’t, and I’m careful about who I tell. It also helps that I run my own business, and so I have some say in the clients that I choose to work with.
In the future, I want to talk about scenes from the series that spoke to me as an autistc person, and I'll include Steven, Marc, and Jake in that analysis. There are so many moments where Oscar Isaac makes character choices that resonate with me from an autistic perspective. But that’s for another time. Anyway, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. :P

do you think that Japanese studios care about what Western audiences feel? I see a lot of people saying that SessRin is really popular in Japan, and that's why it became canon, and that they don't care about what western audiences think. Do you think that's true?
Think of it this way:
Homophobia is not really acceptable throughout North America and a ton of Western Europe. That's not to say it doesn't happen or it's not a reality for people in these countries, just that it's slowly becoming less and less okay for people to hold these views. But, why hasn't there been a gay kiss in a Star Wars movie that isn't a blink and you'll miss it vibes? Why is it such a struggle for cartoons like Steven Universe to push for LGBTQ romance? Why has Disney had 32 first gay characters?
People will be quick to blame the manbabies who scream about wokeness, but it's actually mostly other countries. Other countries (and their governments) are the reason why. Because in the world of globalization and the free market, the millions that the domestic box office for the Rise of Skywalker brought in 2019 (about 500 million) wasn't enough, they wanted to hit that 1 billion range. And that wouldn't have happened without the international market, which isn't as accepting as North America. This is why any scrap of LGBTQ representation is going to be hollow and easily cutable or dubbed over by another actor in another language.
Yeah, they care. The international market for anime is growing. Currently, it's worth about 24 billion, with over a third of that coming from overseas. It's predicted to be worth almost 50 billion by 2030, and the international market will likely overtake the domestic one.
Tumblr media
Yeah, they care. And if they don't now, they'll start soon.
SessRin became canon because of its supposed popularity in the fandom because fandoms don't really care about platonic relationships. They don't. Like you can't talk about a platonic, not-blood-related relationship in fandom for 10 minutes before somebody is like "they should fuck!" This isn't a dig, this is just how it is.
Nobody was celebrating dad Sesshomaru until after romantic SessRin was confirmed, not really, unless it was used as an accessory to another ship.
They looked at the SessRin community and took it at face value. It's really just a stellar example of small internet communities being taken as a representation of the larger community they're a part of and mainstream creators really not understanding how fandom and the internet works, because no bro, most people watching the original did not look at the tall mean adult hanging out with the tiny sweet child and think "they should fuck!"

I’ve been thinking about a Samurai Jack / Steven Universe crossover for some time, and it really makes me think.
So, there’s not a lot of clear confirmation on exact dates of certain events in BOTH shows, but looking at wikis and trying to get a grasp on the timelines, (as well as some creative liberties because it’s a fanfic) I think I’ve found an idea I like.
The universe was created, and The Great Evil with it. 3 gods destroyed most of it, but a small piece remained and crash landed on Earth, destroying the dinosaurs and thus dating it to around 65 million years ago. At some point after this, in a different part of the universe, Gems were made.
So, gems tried to colonize earth, rebellion happened, pink diamond was gotten rid off, the diamonds sent a corrupting blast, and the cluster was planted. All of that happened over 5,000 years ago. Over 4,000 years ago Amethyst emerged and joined the CGs, and the temple was built. Canonically, the next stuff we know of them was in the 1800s, but that doesn’t get to happen in this crossover because of the issues with Aku.
Time is very nebulous in SJ, and not just because of time travel reasons. Even in the first episode, the areas around the world Jack trains in as he grows up are all from different time periods. Still, he cannot be from anytime earlier than 0 CE. Fans have concluded that Jack’s home is “an era greatly resembling Japan's Edo Period in appearance, albeit with culture closer to the Nara and Heian periods.” If it were Edo, it could theoretically coincide with the 1800s gems, but I highly doubt it as that is the tail end of the era and I think we are supposed to believe it happened earlier.
So, Crystal Gems have been living mostly alone on earth for a few thousand years, trying to stay out of human affairs but keeping an ear to the ground lest they hear tell of any “monsters” are can take care of the corrupted gems. They are aware of black, spiky system of roots that grow somewhere in Japan (although not all of them know it’s something Rose learned about when receiving her first scout reports back for colonization) and like anything else the Crystal Gems haven’t figured out how to deal with, they just sectioned it off and forbid humans from going. But it was alive, and spread, and is devoured things. It made them afraid, because the land it ravaged couldn’t be restored to life by Rose’s powers, and the only things they’d seen with that amount of power to leech the earth were the kindergartens.
As the spiky mass spreads towards civilization, an emperor prepares to attack it himself, to save his people. The Gems warn him off of the task, tell him to get his people to safety until they can deal with the problem, but he is adamants. In a quiet moment where the other gems are distracted, Rose says, “If you must insist on doing this for your people, I know nothing we say can stop you. But your human weapons alone will not do much. Take this, and coat your weapon in it before you attempt to kill it.”
Basically Rose had been learning about human poisons versus medicine, and how a small dose of a harmful thing can destroy a bad bacteria or parasite, saving the host. The “poison” in the glass she gave to the emperor was in fact some of her Diamond essence. (I headcanon that the pink Kindergarten injectors and Spinel’s poison were so destructive because they were Pink Diamond’s destructive powers made fluid, like her healing tears but instead manifesting the types of powers that hurt Pink Pearl.)
Afterwords, it goes as in the SJ show: the Emperor’s poison-dipped arrow accidentally gives the dark mass life, birthing Aku. The gems freak out, and Rose is wracked with guilt and is unable to tell any of the gems that she gave the Emperor the poison. The gems try to fight Aku off, but even Obsidian struggles against him. They may be made of pure light, but the guilt Rose is holding onto prevents their fusion from really harming the “evil” aspect of Aku. The Emperor is brought to the gods, as in canon, and is given a magical katana from his “pure spirit.” He returns, surprising both Aku and Obsidian at his ability to harm the evil figure. But Obsidian helps him, and unfuses to help keep the hoard at bay when Aku possesses the fallen armor while the Emperor whittled down the numbers. He is the one who deals the final blow, trapping Aku in the blade.
The Crystal Gems thank him, though they also have many questions. (The Emperor’s explanation that it “represents the strength and power of the human spirit” intrigues Rose especially.) However, when one of them goes to take his sword to bubble Aku away, he jerks the sword back.
“What are you doing?”
“We have experience sealing away creatures like this. Everyone will be safest if it comes with us.” Says Pearl.
“I can’t let you do that. With this sword, I will forever banish this evil abomination.”
Then he plunges the katana into the ground, and after a few moments where the only sound is the rain, the jagged black tree erupts from the ground. The rain immediately disperses.
“Well, that’s not gonna be a problem again for at least a few years,” says Garnet, walking up to the rest of the group. They didn’t even realize she had left.
“Wait, where were you?” asked Amethyst.
“About midway through the battle, I foresaw the Empress needing some help, and you guys were handling things just fine here. By the way, Tennō, I think there’s someone you’ll want to meet.” Just as Garnet finished uttering these words, the cry of a newborn baby rang out, and the emperor ran to meet his son.

how would you feel if, regardless of whether the theory's good or well supported by the rest of the series, etc., they DID make senti-adrien a thing? I'm struggling at the moment because I genuinely hate the idea (for all the reasons you've listed before), but reading Astruc's tweets and how he's bending over backwards to justify it or contradict the counter-arguments to it (which honestly just feel like he's making up stuff on the fly because present canon really does contradict a lot of the senti-adrien stuff), it all makes me feel like it really is going to happen. So I'd rather be resigned to it happening and prepared than deal with the gut-punch disappointment, if you know what I mean. Or Astruc is just the world's biggest troll and is deliberately answering these questions to make people THINK the theory is valid but it's actually not going to be the answer. Either way, I'm just... tired. I just want it over. Either reveal adrien as a sentimonster and let me live in my disappointment, or disprove it and move with the show, you know?
As soon as I saw that people were screenshotting Astruc talking about Sentimonster lore, I knew I would get an ask referring to his tweets eventually. But, here's the thing: nothing I have seen Astruc say has contradicted anything I have said against the Sentimonster Adrien Theory. It doesn't matter if the Peacock holder couldn't sense or control Adrien because I have never used that as a counterargument. I have only ever discussed the Amok, never the Miraculous.
If Adrien was a Sentimonster, there is no reason Gabriel wouldn't have his Amok on his person at all times with how obsessed he is with controlling and keeping tabs on Adrien. And if Gabriel had the Amok Object, he would use it. Gabriel is an abusive control freak; why on earth wouldn’t he use that kind of an advantage? What possible justification is there for him to go against his character that much for over 3 seasons?
Gabriel has not used an Amok object against Adrien. This means there isn't one. Adrien can't have an Amok object because Gabriel doesn't have it or use it against him. That means that we have proof there is no Amok, so Adrien can't be a Sentimonster.
It also doesn't matter what the lore is when the characterization and story themes are against it. Adrien is a victim of domestic abuse, not an artificial being being misused by their creator. The framing of this story arc has been explicit; Adrien has been emotionally manipulated, gaslighted and isolated on-screen. You don’t turn something literal into a metaphor after nearly a hundred episodes of being explicit. It defeats the purpose of a metaphor to backtrack from something that’s been explicitly literal in the show. We have literally seen Adrien be abused on-screen repeatedly, explicitly so. Adrien's abuse is not a metaphor for anything: it's abuse.
Also, the show has killed every single Sentimonster we have seen and hasn't brought a single one of them back. Sentimonsters aren't people, they aren't worth the same as real people. If an existing character ended up being a Sentimonster, that character's humanity value would decrease. They just wouldn't be as important anymore. The writers have told us this with every single Sentimonster they’ve killed off. Miraculous is not real life: it’s a show. Everything included in the show is someone’s choice and someone’s bias. This is not about how the fandom views Sentimonsters. It's literally in the show. If the writers kill Sentimonsters with no reset button, they aren’t worth living in the writers’ eyes. They wouldn’t make their secondary lead not worthy of life.
So yeah, talking about how Mayura or Shadow Moth couldn’t recognize Cat Noir was a Sentimonster even if he was one and how Adrien could totally still have those three kids with Marinette if he was a Sentimonster sure does address all of these concerns (sarcasm).
Also, since we’re taking all of Astruc's tweets as clues to the show's future plotlines, he has said that Lukadrien is better than Luchloé, so I guess Lovesquare isn't endgame after all and we're ending up with the Lukadrien/Marigami double dates setup I always dreamed of instead. Because Astruc, the guy who notoriously hates spoilers, sure would not just say whatever on his unofficial personal twitter and would instead be leading people to a canon plotline on purpose, right?
However, if the writers ignored all of this or if they missed this much about their own show, and Adrien turned out to be a Sentimonster, I would most likely never write another piece of Miraculous meta or fanfiction again. The reason I put effort into this show is because I like it and care about it. And I would not care about SentiAdrien.
I have previously discussed how 'A Single Pale Rose' made me stop caring about what happened in Steven Universe, and you'll notice I don't really write about that show. Similarly, I dropped Young Justice as a show the instant I found out they killed off Wally West, my favorite character, in the series finale. I was only three episodes into said season, but I stopped caring about anything else that might happen because my favorite character would still end up dead. I have a well-received fanfic 'Conner Has Two Daddies (And a Robot Nanny)' that hasn't been updated in years because I have a hard time caring about the universe anymore.
Adrien being a Sentimonster would make me stop caring about what happens in Miraculous or what could happen in Miraculous, because no amount of canon divergence could undo the fact that my favorite character wasn't a real person, could never be a real person and would instead have a "fragile" existence. I would most likely never find the motivation to write about the show again.
So, for the question of how I would feel: most likely I would feel nothing. My investment in this show would drop so low I couldn't even be disappointed anymore.
*insert all the She-Ra fans following my blog hoping Adrien will end up being a Sentimonster so that I will focus all of my attention on writing SPoP meta*

Steven Universe: End of an Era: Outline & Review
I wrote this review in October but never got around to posting it here
Steven Universe: End of an Era is far more than an art book–it’s also a collection of behind-the-scenes material, stories about the experience of working on the show, planning documents and associated background info, and both older versions of developed concepts AND concepts that never made it into the show. It's a huge fusion of all those elements, and it's definitely an experience!
Some low-quality images are included with my review just to give you an idea of what’s there--it’s not a good substitute for getting your own copy, but here’s a tour!
Tumblr media
Like the previous concept art book, Art and Origins, I'll be giving you a description of the structure and overview, while also collecting notable information for fans. Obviously just about everything is "notable" once again, but I'll aim for unique insight or perspective on the main source material, keeping the screaming about everything new to a minimum so you can also enjoy something for yourself if you pick it up. My low-quality photos should prevent people from feeling like I'm reproducing the book in any capacity. Please grab one while you can and have your own experience!
[SU Book and Comic Reviews]
OVERVIEW
The book is titled "End of an Era" for a couple reasons--obviously because it is released after the show has wrapped, but also because Gem history recently ended its "Era 2" and began Era 3--an age of prosperity and peace. The author--the person in charge of adapting all of this information into this slick, readable package--is Chris McDonnell, whose work was previously applied on the Art and Origins book.
The foreword is by N.K. Jemisin, a well-known science fiction author who's a huge fan of the show (and wrote a really excellent series that also has a weird geological connection, by the way).
And the cover, like its predecessor, is shiny and decorated with a beach scene featuring minimalistic characters--this time it's the Gems at night in front of the Temple, and on the back cover is a big pink leg ship in a cross-legged pose.
The interior covers are decorated with tons of amazing sketches of Steven and Connie on the front, and a bunch of Gem sketches on the back. Every interior page that most would leave blank is highlighted with some kind of sketch art or character exercise--it's so much to look at, so much to absorb.
The book is dedicated "For Eddie."
Its organization is different from the previous book in that it shares applicable work in chunks associated with groups of episodes rather than pertaining to different aspects of building the show.
FOREWORD
Tumblr media
N.K. Jemisin gives us such a great introduction to the book--apparently understanding very well that the audience of this book is full of animation enthusiasts and adult fans more than it is full of kids, and explaining that bewildering journey some adults had from blowing this show off as a silly kid thing to falling in love with it hard and fast.
The important thing, Jemisin says, is being able to trust a storyteller with your heart. And it was clear to her that Rebecca Sugar knew what she was talking about and was saying important things about identity and the radical power that comes with accepting it and demanding respect.
Important also is how we handle heroes and who gets to be one in fantasy. That's part of the reason Steven Universe speaks to so many--because we see ourselves here, and know stories can be about us. Acknowledging the power we all have to MAKE THINGS BETTER with what we fight for is so important--especially if we're going to speaking to the next generation about it.
Highlighting Rose Quartz as a "born leader" who failed and Steven as a relatable scamp who did what she couldn't, Jemisin asserts that we can save the world.
1. END OF AN ERA
Tumblr media
We start with an appeal to the audience to think about identity and the formative parts of our childhood--and how different it is if who you are and who you become is restricted, mocked, erased, or Not Allowed. Most people, if not ALL people, can relate to this, but for those of us with a special relationship with Steven Universe because of queer identity, this hits hard.
But it doesn't have to be anything grand to be something we respect--this show's authenticity comes largely from how personal everything is, drawn from real-life experiences and incidental truths from each artist's perspective, leaning hard on childhood and formative experiences.
Tumblr media
Rebecca Sugar offers some interview bits to discuss writing philosophy and why "writing female characters" was difficult for a nonbinary person who'd been socialized as a girl and a woman. Rebecca has spoken before about how frustrating it is that marketing for cartoons was SO gendered when she was growing up (and to some extent still is).
The Gems in the story are all "she/her," but on their planet they're defined by their work, not by emotion or relationships (unlike women in our society), so having them be socialized opposite to how she was and be able to claim those emotions through choice and NOT as just an expectation "as women" was revolutionary. Rebecca wants her show to tell all marginalized people that they don't deserve to be in the margins.
Tumblr media
Weighing in on other aspects of the show were Ian Jones-Quartey, Joe Johnston, and Miki Brewster. Ian describes feeling like at first doing SU was a thrill ride that meant they'd finally get to do all the cool stuff, but it quickly became a responsibility that he took very seriously--the need to tell a good story now that he'd been given a megaphone.
Promotional art, planning documents, character sketches, and concept art from the lighthearted to the stone serious is included, along with some very cool (sort of famous) timeline charts that track major characters' developments. It's emphasized by Rebecca that the developmental materials ARE NOT CANON (and especially are not MORE canon) compared the final show.
Tumblr media
There are concept sketches alongside final art for Aquamarine and Topaz in "Wanted" (with Topaz labeled "Imperial Topaz"), the Zircons in "The Trial," Blue and Yellow Diamond, and the Off Colors (including Pink Lars).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there's also a spread of "the two sides of Steven's life: Gem Magic and Rock N Roll" featuring Sadie Killer and the Suspects (referred to as "Buck's band")--as well as a cool "Crew Cameos" key and some concepts for short-haired Connie.
And then there's some more "finished" art with stills alongside concepts, including some background art, revision, and really cool "fairytale" art from some of the shadowplay storytelling bits. We get "Lars of the Stars," "Jungle Moon," and "Can't Go Back."
2. THE BEGINNING OF THE END: A SINGLE PALE ROSE
Tumblr media
In discussing the huge reveals and Gem mysteries in the show, the pacing is examined, and emphasis is put on the intended "slow burn." One of the most difficult things in the show was to strategize so that every piece that was needed to support another piece in the future was placed properly to seed what it was supposed to.
Some of the ideas they developed were more of a group effort and were fit together collaboratively (like Amethyst's being younger than the other Gems and Jasper being from Earth), while others were intended from the beginning based on Rebecca's vision (the fundamental idea of Pink Diamond's true identity, for instance, as well as Obsidian's design and sword and our Pearl not being Pink's first).
Tumblr media
The writing process gets a great deep dive here, including fun tidbits like how the orb in the moon base was inserted by Joe Johnston and they literally had no idea what it was for when they wrote the episode. They repurposed it when they figured out what they needed.
Rebecca credits her detailed timelines for helping keep the order straight, and discusses how other artists are sometimes flabbergasted that a storyboard-driven show can have this much detail and continuity and yet not get wrecked by the free non-scripted boarding process. But Rebecca and the Crew valued that approach and loved the way fresh eyes would handle an idea, making it come back alive, entertaining, vivid.
Several Crew members weigh in on the writing process. Lauren Hecht refers to making lots of incorrect guesses despite being on the inside. Joe Johnston recalled getting briefed on his first day and getting so excited to start working on this massive project.
Miki Brewster remembered being told Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond and being shocked--and also confused about why Ruby and Sapphire would need to be married if they're already basically married. Drew Green talks about being brought in late and getting to watch unaired episodes and a rough of the movie while eating cereal.
Ian Jones-Quartey complains about Pink Diamond's real jester-like form being leaked to the internet through a Hot Topic shirt. Rebecca piggybacks on that and says it was upsetting that the wedding was leaked because of toy fair keychains featuring Ruby and Sapphire in wedding attire. They'd always be worried about leaks, and sometimes Rebecca struggled not to talk about the reality of Pink Diamond before the reveal because she knew it would make so much more sense once the truth was out. And everything associated with Rose makes more sense once you know she's Pink--especially what happened with Bismuth, considering what we know about how Pink Diamond has a habit of treating anyone who no longer serves her interests.
Tumblr media
When it comes to visual cues, Rebecca also talks about intentional designs to create a feeling of unity between concepts, like the flower shapes on Pink Diamond's palanquin lining up with the poofs of Steven's hair and the star imagery of the series. Steven Sugar and Mary Nash discuss how the Human Zoo incorporated this imagery, trying to look like Homeworld with a Pink Diamond touch.
Steven Sugar, as a game nerd, liked to throw in video game references from old and modern stuff to feel like he's inserting what he's enjoying and who he is from moment to moment, while Mary Nash, who related to Sadie as a basement-dwelling young person with cult interests, liked to include stuff from MST3K and cult movies. Pearl's hand gestures get a spotlight too--her reflex to cover her mouth when Pink Diamond was being discussed was analyzed here.
A "Top Secret Visual Timeline" from 2016 is included which tells us some Diamond history. It has an earlier version of Pink Pearl's fate and does not include Spinel since the movie hadn't been greenlit. The timeline includes the birth of the Diamonds, the emergence and major story beats for each major character, and some philosophy of the driving force behind each.
Tumblr media
We're told that Pink Diamond straightened up, behavior-wise, after she lost her first Pearl, and that Yellow and Blue wanted to give her a planet but White only agreed to it to prove she would fail at managing a colony. Pearl, meanwhile, is so confused to have a Diamond who keeps asking her what she thinks when she doesn't believe she should have opinions.
And when Pink moonlighted as Rose to start conflict, she found herself leading an army to fight Pink's troops--then Yellow's, and eventually Blue's too. Lapis is said to be waiting for the conflict to end on Earth so she can terraform, but she gets trapped instead.
Pearl's love story with Rose is described as "an endless honeymoon" where she's free to love her, while Rose's is more like "I'm now the head of the family and I'm going to give everyone what they never had, so everyone is super special!"
Jasper is described as "adopted" into Yellow's army as the only successful Beta Quartz. And White Diamond knew that Pink Diamond was not dead--she thought she was just running away from home like a brat and would eventually be back.
3. THE HEART OF THE CRYSTAL GEMS
Tumblr media
Now we discuss Rose Quartz--the original Pink Diamond. How she was selfish and selfless, never enough and always too much, and how Greg was her first partner who "challenged her" to be an equal. Rebecca describes Rose as being delighted by the idea that both she and Greg reinvented themselves, but when that leads her to want to share her past, Greg isn't interested--he only wants to know who she is now, and doesn't consider the old her to be her.
Rebecca likes Carl Jung's concept of "enantiodromia," which is the idea that extremes lead to their extreme opposite. This is demonstrated in all of the Diamonds. This narrative is interspersed with drawings of Greg and Rose being cute.
But another "heart" of the Crystal Gems is its relationships--particularly, Garnet, the fairy tale romance embodied. More psychological theories are discussed with regard to differentiation in a relationship making the relationship stronger, and how they made sure that happened for Garnet during the appropriate arc. Rebecca has struggled with the idea that she, like Ruby, went straight from a "family" group to a living-with-others situation and never lived by herself. But she also learned that you can in fact develop as a person in the context of a relationship--you don't have to be alone to do it. Ruby learned that too, and chose on her own terms to be with Sapphire.
Tumblr media
The wedding made so much sense to Rebecca and the crew that they couldn't imagine a wholesome couple like Ruby and Sapphire not having a wedding episode. They wanted it for years: The wedding concepts always included the tuxedo for Sapphire and the wedding dress for Ruby.
Tumblr media
But pushback (often blamed on the conservative standards of the international market) led to negotiations trying to keep Ruby and Sapphire's relationship from being explicit. Rebecca and the Crew were very tired of this double standard, and they were especially irritated by attempts to claim a wedding wouldn't be well received by a core demographic or wouldn't make sense for Steven's character. But other shows had done weddings and Steven had been established to love weddings already.
Rebecca kept adding more elements to the wedding episode to answer all the concerns, but she didn't want to back down from explicit marriage between these characters. They deserved it. And the audience deserved to see this as wholesome, like any other cartoon wedding. Eventually they got their way and were allowed to have the wedding. But the ordered episodes were also coming to a close without promise of more, so Rebecca had to request more episodes to be able to wrap up the storyline!
And of course, there is Steven, the true heart of the team. A very interesting aside discusses Garnet's leadership and how the network pushed the Crewniverse to acknowledge Steven as the leader. This was successfully resisted throughout as well--because Garnet is the leader (unless she's incapacitated, of course). It's fantastic that this concept was preserved because too often a young male chosen one is elevated above people with more experience and knowledge because of that chosen one tradition, so it's really nice to have a show acknowledge that team leadership is more appropriate for an adult.
Tumblr media
4. ERA 3
Tumblr media
Beginning with a discussion of the Diamonds, this chapter deconstructs the dysfunctional "family" of the Diamonds (who are said to be based on tropes about evil stepmothers and stepsisters), with the thread of dysfunction originating with White Diamond.
Yellow is physical, Blue is emotional, White is judgmental, and Pink is impulsive. Some philosophy on why Pink is naturally manipulative and why she clashes so much with White is offered.
White believes her identity is to be imposed on all because she is the pinnacle of what should be--and therefore, she has the right to make decisions and statements about and on behalf of everyone. But her secret is that she can't do what the others do--act or feel or want. In trying to be everyone, she is no one.
And this becomes very important when she confronts Steven about his identity and turns out to be wrong. The triumph of Steven being totally, fully himself is a beautiful, simple revelation that's described as far more satisfying than the theories about Pink living inside him or Rose returning from his Gem.
Also discussed is Gem architecture. A lot went into this idea, and Steven Sugar weighs in to say he had to think of what it would mean for a world to have buildings but serve no human needs. That's why it's mostly focused on transport and storage. Even the broken planet is meant to indicate a place stripped for its resources, and everything serves a function that is meant to avoid looking like the human equivalents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there's another layer, too: a difference between Era 1 and Era 2. Era 2 became more functional to hide Era 1's broken bits, and older Homeworld buildings still have some "ornate and ancient" feel to them. And the fact that props, tools, and even walls and doors could be living was taken from a concept Rebecca thought was horrible from old Busby Berkeley movies, where people were inanimate objects and it was portrayed as lovely. Tom Herpich helped conceptualize these living objects.
Steven dealing with "princess tropes" is discussed here too. The Pebbles (worked on with Pendleton Ward) were sort of his Cinderella's mice, and all the locked-in-a-tower, having supportive tiny friends help you, getting princess clothes made, attending a ball, having to mind your manners stuff was intentionally related to fairy tales.
The point of doing that (besides fun) was to easily invoke the feeling that Steven was being made to be someone he's not, and that he was being treated like THIS is who he really is when it isn't. White Diamond as the "evil stepmother" is discussed with regard to her detailed features and massive scale. They generally didn't put fingernails and eyelashes on characters (especially not to indicate that they were women or girls!), but they decided White would get all of these feminine markers for tradition's sake.
Tumblr media
Rebecca also invokes several other references that were included and describes the princess tropes as "chipping away at his integrity" setting him up for the final challenge with White.
There is again tons of concept art: Homeworld architecture, Pebbles, Diamond diagrams, background Jades and Lemon Jade Fusion, Comby, Diamond extraction chambers, and White Diamond.
Tumblr media
5. CHANGE YOUR MIND
Tumblr media
Now we finally begin to discuss Steven's identity. The "Perfect Steven," discussed in several interviews before this book's release, was an idea back in 2013; the "ultimate Steven," beefed up and shonen-looking, was far from perfect because OUR Steven is perfect, while this alpha hero Steven idea (used in Steven Universe Future) didn't belong being idolized in such a show.
They thought about having Steven fall apart into organic half and Gem half early in the show (during "Giant Woman" after a successful fusion and unfusion, even!), but they didn't try the concept until the last episode. They didn't want the "Pink" Steven to be portrayed as "better" even though he would be more powerful, so they decided he isn't whole without his organic self and he's just as much of a shell as the organic half. They absolutely did not want any ending that required Rose to be inside him or waiting to come back. But the debates were fierce--what DOES it mean to have Rose's Gem?
Ian Jones-Quartey brings in an anecdote about his own family to emphasize some of the immigrant themes that inspired aspects of the show. He had a brother who reinvented himself elsewhere away from family without resolving issues, and all the ramifications of that were explored in the show through Rose Quartz. (He is careful to say he doesn't think his immigrant experience is like being from another planet!) But he did say you can hurt your old family even if they were toxic or didn't know the real you, and you can hurt your new family by hiding your past. The Pizza family of course was also a more direct reference to Ian's Ghanaian family.
In talking about the new Fusions from this episode, Sunstone is largely described by Miki, who also got to board the Sunstone section. Sunstone was described as a cool 1990s character and the evolution just continued into making them a fourth-wall-breaking PSA dispenser. Obsidian is also discussed, with their sword being an early concept. Steven Sugar said they totally knew it would be forged in action. Obsidian being similar to the Temple design is of course another very early detail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The story of how James Baxter got involved with one of the final scenes (Organic Steven and Pink Steven fusing in front of White Diamond) was shared. His family was fans of the show and Rebecca Sugar took the time to drive to a birthday party for his daughter and give her a drawing. He then owed her a favor, and this was it.
Tumblr media
Concept art is again included, this time with sample boards, promo images, a Diamond fight concept, costume design changes for the Gems, new Fusions, the so-called "Mega Diamond" ship conglomerate, some scenes from the White Diamond confrontation, Pink Steven, multiple pages of James Baxter animation, corrupted Gems and their healed selves, and photos from the "Change Your Mind" premiere and some awards. The show has won one design-related Emmy, a Peabody Award, and a GLAAD award.
Tumblr media
6. STEVEN UNIVERSE FUTURE
Tumblr media
The book doesn't cover the movie because it got its own book, but dives right into Future. Ian Jones-Quartey emphasizes that the movie and Future are separate and different from the original show, which ENDED. After all, after that, Steven has a neck!
Some new names are invoked now: new writers Kate Tsang, Jack Pendarvis, and Taneka Stotts. They were excited to have Steven make HIS OWN mistakes instead of trying to clean up someone else's! Now, instead of doing the usual shonen anime thing and having the final battle be a big physical rumble, Steven has to make peace with himself and take an active role in coping with what all the fighting has done to him and what effect it's had on who he is (and who he wants to be). There is no sudden "I love myself!" answer, either. It's always a process.
Drew Green and Maya Petersen, who came on board as storyboarders officially in Future, also weighed in on writing for a "mature" show, how to deal with Steven being a "moral compass" while being sort of unreliable, and what they learned as Crew that they didn't know as fans. Drew didn't know Garnet never asks questions. Jack didn't realize the show never deviated from Steven's point of view. Taneka was nervous but excited to collaborate. Kate was worried about how established the show was and what to do as a new writer to contribute appropriately.
Maya was on the old Crew but not as a storyboarder, so felt like some of the "old" ideas ended up not being appropriate for the "new" Future in an embarrassing way--and dreaded the idea of dealing with Steven's emotional problems when they were similar to stuff she'd been through. She also was personally behind the idea of Steven wanting to dump his problems by becoming Stevonnie, and got to work with Etienne Guignard on inventing the Pearl creation backstory with Volleyball.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's some discussion of "depression hobbies," stress, and the show's pacing. And they say Etienne was entertaining at pitches. There's even some discussion of how Greg is taken off a bit of a pedestal because his terrible restrictive life in the suburbs sounded wholesome to Steven and Greg presented it negatively.
And then there is some information about how the Crew felt behind the scenes due to fan reactions and negative press. Ian discusses feeling offended when the Black characters are described as bad examples, as if their cartoonized but realistic-in-context features are automatically caricatures.
Rebecca Sugar felt beaten down by some of these narratives and began to access mental health services, inspiring some of the content of "Mindful Education." A long reflection from Rebecca discusses people's infighting about her show and what she had a responsibility to show or not show in the story. She learned a lot about bullying from Cartoon Network's anti-bullying program and learned that bullies thrive on whatever attention you give them--unless it is made clear to them by a peer group that no one is impressed by their cruel actions. Also, not all negative feedback is bullying. Constructive criticism is different. Self-awareness can help you avoid internalizing what bullies might do or say to you.
Segueing from the discussion of how people are affected by and connect with the show, we then discuss how they chose as a team what should be covered as the show came to a close. They didn't have time to do quite a few stories they wanted time for, like a Rhodonite story, a Lars side story, and Diamond "prehistory" and religion; all of it was put aside for the main arc with Steven.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They thought people would find those stories about Homeworld and Off Color history very interesting, but so much of the show had been about Steven's Gem adventures, so keeping him mostly on Earth seemed appropriate. The acknowledgment of his battle damage, of his trauma, was necessary and real, and helpful in an important way to the core audience.
Oh, and there was some stuff about a cheeseburger tree. Don't ask.
In discussing the "reverse escapism" of the original show (Gem aliens are intrigued by everyday human culture, and realism is necessary), Rebecca says her views have changed on escapism and gets why some people want a soothing feel-better show. She acknowledged also that her own escapist dreams-come-true fulfilled in the show didn't feel like escapism because they were givens to the majority of mainstream culture, but were never guaranteed to marginalized people.
Rebecca ties in her several-times-told story about "Love Like You" and how the middle bit was when she didn't feel she was worth looking up to, and the realizations she had to tie the beginning to the end. Feeling like someone will like you less if they know you more is terrible. So sometimes a show like this can be helpful in telling people that they belong when their fantasies are things like "I want to be loved" and "I want to know I exist."
In Future, Steven has to connect to who he is and love that person--and understand that person enough to finally feel that even if he's not fixing their problems or saving their world right this second, Steven deserves his family's love and support, and they WANT to give it to him.
There's a huge amount of supplemental material in this section so there's no way I could name it all. The charts for Future's timeline are pretty straightforward, though a few episodes like "A Very Special Episode," "Why So Blue," "In Dreams," and "Bismuth Casual" aren't specifically represented and a couple are in a different order ("Prickly Pair" was conceived as happening after "Fragments" and "Homeworld Bound").
Steven feeling like a monster, having intrusive thoughts, having not forgiven the Diamonds, and getting help/moving on--it's all there.
Tumblr media
We have keys, color scripts, and boards for the new opening and some various backgrounds and storyboard art from episodes. Model sheets for Shep, Nice Lapis and Mean Lapis, Jasper, Steven Tag Gems, Pink Steven Powers, Monster Steven. New house concepts, Era 3 Homeworld concept art for the Diamond environments, and background art for the Reef.
New Connie and Greg designs. Concepts for Mega Pearl, the Rose Quartzes, Bluebird, and Morganite (who didn't get used). And there are some photos from recording and the conference room. There are even some extras from "Crossover Nexus," the crossover with OK K.O.!--including an unused cut scene that included Ruby and Sapphire fighting. The rest of the book is a bunch of adorable Crewniverse art--extras, blog drawings, promos, and gifts to each other.
NOTABLE
1.
The first timeline chart in the book features a cool sketch of the original Off Colors, which at the time this planning document was drafted included unused Off Colors Flint and Chert.
We knew of their existence already because of an episode of the podcast, but these two unexpectedly appeared as incidental characters in the Steven Universe Future episode "Homeworld Bound," identified only in the credits. Sad to think that instead of banding with the Off Colors, these two were probably shattered for their crime (being Quartzes who don't want to fight) and that's why we see them being repaired in this episode. Later, there's some brainstorming for types of Off Colors and "a Ruby that wants to wear limb enhancers" is mentioned as well.
2.
It looks like there was also originally more juice to the story of tracking down the events of the war culminating in Pink Diamond's assassination.
One of the timelines talks about Steven thinking it makes sense that Pearl can't talk about her involvement because she might have been a double agent, explaining why Rose Quartz always knew what Pink Diamond was doing. It seems like that bit was supposed to be included in Garnet's version of the story she believed in "Your Mother and Mine." Seems like they originally conceived Garnet's story to inspire the Off Colors to become pirates and freedom fighters, though in the show's canon this storytelling happened after Lars had already reinvented himself the way he did.
Sadie was also supposed to be sending letters to Lars via Steven, which is funny since the "Letters to Lars" episode is just a montage Steven letter. And of course it's specified that Steven was supposed to get Pink Diamond flashbacks by going to the Palace on Homeworld.
3.
The second chart in the book makes references to Sadie's reinvention of herself as a parallel to Lars, Greg, and Pink Diamond all doing the same thing, and how positive it is to embrace such a thing--a version of yourself that YOU create.
I love that Yellow Diamond's arm ship arm-wrestling the Cluster was always part of the plan.
There's some more explicit direction to have Connie help Steven understand the Diamonds as "strict parents," and a lot more emphasis on everyone realizing Rose had been inspired by THEM rather than them all following her.
White Diamond is presented here as if she thinks of Pink Diamond as a "daughter" (whom she now understands she has "lost"). There are notes on how the Diamonds have a responsibility to their children and should attend to it before just continuing to make more.
4.
One of the concept art images for the Off Colors features Rhodonite crouching by Padparadscha saying "Don't worry, I won't let them hurt you." It's very interesting because she DOES seem to protect Padparadscha in the show, but doesn't seem confident about it in her final version, even though it does seem like she'd be "programmed" to guard aristocratic Gems because of her Ruby and Pearl makeup. Cool.
5.
A "Crew Cameos" spread was included, which is of great interest to some of us who loved seeing the Crew insert themselves into the show. Not every SU Crew person who's been represented in a crowd was there, but this crowd included Amish Kumar, Kat Morris, Amanda Winterstein, Angie Wang, Lamar Abrams, Emily Walus, Mary Nash, Joe Johnston, Christy Cohen, Danny Cragg, Hilary Florido, Danny Hynes, Matt Burnett, Ben Levin, Elle Michalka.
Tumblr media
6.
The official national flower of South Korea, Hibiscus syriacus, is the name of Pink Diamond's flower.
7.
One of Steven Sugar's comments about the silhouette difference between humans and Gems points out that humans have ears. This seems to be pretty good confirmation that they are not supposed to have ears, despite that sometimes we'll see ears drawn on them in some frames.
8.
Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond is characterized in this book as "self-hating" in a really interesting way, saying that because she believed she was not capable of compassion, she practically worshiped those who demonstrated that ability and thought they were so much better than her--which is described as "intoxicating" and resulted in others being drawn to her. How interesting is that!
9.
Timelines reveal that early plans for Pink Diamond's first Pearl originally had her getting destroyed by Pink during  a game, and then her destruction was rewritten as a punishment from the Diamonds after Pink Pearl defended Pink Diamond to the other Diamonds. They went back to the idea of her getting hurt by Pink for the final version, though the cracked face and control by White Diamond was not on the agenda until they started writing "Change Your Mind."
10.
The approximate ages of the major characters, based on emergence, are revealed on these timelines. It begins with a cracked-planet-looking graphic depicting four tiny Diamonds emerging at 20,000 years ago. Some suspicious "blacked out" redacting surrounds a long timeline tail that goes back before that, which may mean there are secrets they still don't want to reveal. But the dates go like this:
20,000 years ago: The Diamonds emerge.
11,000 years ago: Pearl is custom-made for Pink Diamond.
8,000 years ago: Sapphire emerges (on Homeworld).
6,000 years ago: Ruby emerges (on a colony).
5,750 years ago: Garnet is formed.
5,600 years ago: Lapis is poofed and put in the mirror.
5,200 years ago: Jasper emerges (on Earth).
5,050 years ago: The Cluster is planted.
5,000 years ago: Amethyst emerges (on Earth).
4,500 years ago: The Crystal Gems found Amethyst.
3,000 years ago: Peridot emerges (on Homeworld).
40 years ago: Pearl found Lapis's mirror at the Galaxy Warp.
And of course we know 14 years ago Steven is born!
11.
Originally the Diamonds were based on a quartet of themes: Love, Fear, Pride, and Sorrow. It got too complicated to keep and it was abandoned, with Pink's identification of "love" being described as "particularly outdated."
12.
Notes on a sketch say that Pearl was inspired to become bold and unashamed because Pink's questions drove her to have opinions, and it's said that Rose "fell in love" with her boldness.
13.
Rebecca tells the story of driving off a ridge and getting stuck in the desert, comparing this to Ruby's tumble during her Wild West adventure and using it as inspiration. She's told this story before but here it is in print. She also included the story about using the flowers from a friend's wedding to put in Ruby's hair.
14.
Rebecca describes having to "fight" notes she was given when it had to do with Ruby and Sapphire's relationship. One she describes as NOT fighting was for a signing card depicting Ruby and Sapphire dancing. It was called "too romantic" and she decided not to worry about it since it wasn't the actual show content.
She was also scolded over her book The Answer because the powers that be expected her to downplay that relationship. She always argued that queer youth deserved these things.
Tumblr media
15.
Tom Herpich describes being inspired to name Blue Diamond's comb "Comby" because he was watching the news about Comey getting fired from the FBI. It's also a mineral-related term and I always assumed that reference was intentional, but maybe it's not and this is the only intended significance to Comby's name?
16.
Rainbow Quartz 2.0's design is not discussed, though the other two new Fusions from "Change Your Mind" (Sunstone and Obsidian) were. RQ2 has some sketches included, but no accompanying narrative in the text.
17.
A sheet of corrupted Gems and their healed selves is offered, though it doesn't appear to be final. The obelisk in "Serious Steven" is labeled Albite. The unnamed Worm Monster, Desert Glass, and Watermelon Tourmaline are included. An unnamed birdlike Gem represents the Big Bird monster from "Giant Woman." The crab monster from "Arcade Mania" is labeled Blue Chalcedony. The Tongue Monster is drawn uncorrupted but not named. The Flower Monster from "Back to the Kindergarten" is labeled Grossular Diopside or Titanite. The invisible monster from "Island Adventure" is labeled Moonstone. The Lighthouse Gem is labeled White Topaz. A form for Larimar that was used in "Change Your Mind" but changed in Future is there. The Slinker is listed as Chrysocolla. And the Crab Monster is listed as Aventurine.
On the next page, this is changed to Bixbite (as it was in Steven Universe Future), and we then also have Lace Amethyst, Blue Lace Agate, Crazy Lace Agate (Fusion), Ocean Jasper, the Mother Centipeetle Nephrite (Facet 413 Cabochon 12) and three other Nephrites, Angel Aura Quartz, a hooded Jasper, Zebra Jasper, Biggs Jasper, Watermelon Tourmaline (labeled as Fusion of Gem * Onion--huh?), Snowflake Obsidian, "Little" Larimar, and Orange Spodumene (who was the Worm).
Tumblr media
18.
The Rhodonite side story would have been about the love story of a Ruby and a Pearl working for Morganite. Images of Morganite and her servants, unfused, are in the book. We do not get this additional information, but Rebecca said in a panel shortly before the book's release that Rhodonite's story would have been about finding out that she had been Rejuvenated 17 times because her components kept falling in love and needing to be reset.
Tumblr media
19.
Referring to the Diamonds on one of the charts, Steven's perspective is "I can't believe I helped these" and then there's a censor bar. Welp.
20.
Some included art by Hilary Florido features Kevin with a souped-up Koala Princess car and another where Kevin is staring at himself in the mirror in front of an altar to himself.
21.
Rebecca's sweater collection is included in the Crew art.

Y’know, what I find extra amusing about the popular SU/GF crossover is that out of all the cartoons we could find to mash together, their worlds couldn’t be any more different geographically. Gravity Falls overtly exists in a world where the United States is pretty much in place just like reality. Meanwhile, Steven Universe’s US only has 39 states, some of which are named things like Keystone, Delmarva, Florida Island, and the Empire State. And yet, in the eternal, inspiring way of fandom, everyone has collectively decided “eh, no matter! Forget canon geography. Let’s mash ‘em together anyways!”
I suppose I’m amused because there’s some fandom topics where details like this would be continually brought up and discussed, but at the same time there’s always those few plain fun AU concepts where internal consistency is overruled by the “rule of cool.” And y’know? That’s absolutely fair. Sometimes the only reason for something existing is because “creating it would be awesome, and I want to” XD

We would like to see more about the adventures of the boys (Violet, Scoops, Becky and Tobey) when they were teenagers we really love to see our favorite team interacting with each other 💗
Hey Anon! Sorry this took so long! It took me a while to think of things and then when I did I wanted to draw them but by that point I'd already kept you waiting for a while so I only have two drawings but I have a lot of ideas I will share through text instead!
First lets do the moment with the drawings
So it starts with the gang as teenagers, all four of them in detention. The girls and the boys got detention for different reasons, and ask the other why they are there. First Becky and Violet ask Tobey and Scoops why they're there. It's a long answer, so I'll just have Becky sum it up for you
Becky:...So...let me get this straight...Scoops saw Mr. Smith and Mrs. Stevens kissing in the parking lot, and decided to right an article about it and why we should remain loyal to our partners...and then Tobey pointed out that if anyone saw that article he could damage Mr. Smith and Mrs. Stevens marriages and get in trouble. So to avoid getting in trouble you two decided to flush the article down one of the toilets in the boys locker room and it clogged the pipes and flooded the boys locker room and you two got detention for causing damage to school property????
Tobey: Yes we hear the irony that we did that to avoid Scoops getting in trouble and then ultimately got in trouble because of it
Becky: Not even on my list of concerns right now. First of all...why did you have to destroy the article? Why couldn't you have just not published it? You could have hidden it or thrown it away?
Violet: No they should have recycled it!
Scoops: What if I recycled it and someone found it? Or what if I lost it and someone found it? it would spread like wildfire!
Becky: Okay, but why flush it down the toilet??? You could have shred it?
Violet: Or painted over it!
Becky: Or used one of Tobey's robots to destroy it
Violet: Or you guys could have thrown it in my fire pit when you came over next weekend to roast marshmallows!
Tobey and Scoops (realizing they're right): ...
Becky: And secondly (Looks to Violet as they both try to choke down a laugh) Mr. Smith and Mrs. Stevens are married
Scoops: I know, that's why I wrote an article on cheating Becky!
Violet: No, you guys, they're married to each other
Tobey and Scoops: ...What..??
Becky: Mrs. Stevens wanted to keep her last name so she never changed it
Violet: They've been happily married for twenty years
(Tobey and Scoops then realize they got detention for basically no reason at all as Becky and Violet burst out laughing):
Tumblr media
Tobey: Oh yeah! And why are you two here, hmm? What bad thing could the two most rule-following students in the school have possibly done to end up in detention with us?
Becky and Violet (paniced): No reason
Scoops: No no no! We told you, now you gotta tell us! What'd you two do?
Violet: ....Well...Becky brought her laptop to school today so we could look at Pretty Princess fanart at lunch...
Scoops: At lunch? A teacher shouldn't give you detention for goofing off on a computer at lunch
Becky: Yeah the problem wasn't when we were looking at it...the problem was the particular fanart that just happened to be on the computer when the teacher passed by...
Tobey: ... What in the world kind of fanart were you two looking at?????
Becky: We were just looking at normal fanart! As it turns out some people one the internet are...messed up and we accidentally ran into some fanart that...um...
Violet: Will haunt my nightmares for the rest of my life...
Becky: and was ultimately deemed "highly inappropriate" by the teacher...
(Tobey and Scoops then burst out laughing):
Tumblr media
I'm gonna put some more scenarios under the cut!
Becky begged Tobey to read this amazing book she just loves:
Becky: Have you read it yet?! Wasn't it amazing?!
Tobey: ...Becky you are one of my dearest friends but I have to be honest with you-This was the worst book I have ever had the displeasure to read
Becky: (Yanks the book out of Tobey's hands and "covers it's ears") (Gasps) IT CAN HEAR YOU!!!
Tobey: ....please see a shrink...
Mrs. McCallister is finally ready for Tobey to meet her new boyfriend and Tobey is super nervous. Scoops gets this idea that he'll look up the guy in the phone book, call him, and pretend he's randomly interviewing people on the phone for a school article, when instead he's actually getting information Tobey needs to get to know the guy better so he knows what to expect (fun fact: this man would later become Tobey's stepdad, his name is Alex). Scoops has the phone on speaker so Tobey can hear
After a bunch of oddly specific questions:
Alex, on the other end: ...Are you a friend of Claire's boy, Tobey?
Scoops: ...
Alex: ...
Tobey: ...
Scoops: Bye! (hangs up in panic)
Tobey: SCOOPS!
Scoops: He was on to us! I panicked! What was I supposed to do???
Tobey: NOT THAT! YOU MAY AS WELL HAVE SAID YES!
Scoops wrote an article about WordGirl. He didn't see anything wrong with it...Becky did...
Becky: How could you say that about me!?
Scoops: I didn't think you'd care!
Becky: Well I do!
Scoops: I'm sorry, Becky. I didn't know you felt so insecure about this or I never would have written it, I promise!
Becky: Insecure! I am NOT insecure!
Scoops (raising an eyebrow): ... define insecure
Becky: ...
Scoops: ...
Becky: I'm leaving! (leaves)
Tobey is in the park reading, Violet is also at the park, doing an art show. She walks up to Tobey all sad and sits next to him
Violet: Hi..
Tobey: What's the matter?
Violet: Someone came to my art show and said he thought all my art was terrible...
Tobey: ...Who in the world would say such a thing???
Violet: That guy over there...
Tobey: You know he's probably just jealous of how talented you are and is masking his insecurities behind rude comments
Violet: ... You really think so?
Tobey: Oh yes, I used to do it all the time..I still catch myself doing it to be honest
Violet: Well now I feel bad for him..
Tobey: Well there's nothing you can do about him, so if I were you I'd just go and continue your art show like normal
Violet: You're right Tobey! Thanks! (leaves for her art show)
Tobey: (pulls out his remote) Insult my dear innocent friend? Not on my watch
Becky and Violet talking about Pretty Princess
Becky: I mean...I know none of it is canon but it's still a good idea right?
Violet: Becky! This is the best AU idea I've ever heard!
Becky: (gasps) I'll write fanfiction for it and you draw fanart for it?
Violet: YES!
Becky and Violet: (Excited screams)
Tobey, now officially having given up crime, is doing community service (of his own volition) to make up for his past actions. Becky, Scoops and Violet come up
Becky: How's community service going?
Tobey: It's awful! But I'm glad I'm doing it
Violet: Want some help?
Tobey: No, it wouldn't feel right
Scoops: Well, can we just sit here and keep you company then?
Tobey: ... Of course!
In high school, Violet got into acting and often performed in school plays. Her first play ever she invited all her friends to come see, and of course they were happy to watch her have fun on stage! However when they saw the play it was....horrendous. Worst thing they'd ever seen. After the play was over Violet happily came over to ask them what they thought of it. Important note: Violet and Scoops were dating at the time
Tobey, seeing Violet coming: What do I do??? I can't tell Violet it was terrible! It would break her heart! But I can't lie to her either! That's wrong!
Becky: Tobey, relax, just do what I do
Violet: Hey guys! What'd you think?
Becky: you looked like you were having so much fun!
Tobey and Scoops: Yeah you did!
Violet: I was! But what did you think of the play itself?
Becky: ...Well...honestly you guys mispronounced so many words I couldn't really enjoy it. I mean it's not your fault, no one uses those words anymore but you know...I know how they're pronounced and can't stand when words are pronounced wrong so...
Violet: Oh that makes sense! We'll work on that! Maybe you can tell me how to pronounce them!
Becky: Sure!
Violet: Tobey what did you think?
Tobey: Um...I wasn't really a fan of the genre so I probably didn't enjoy it as much as I could have
Violet: Oh, what kind of genres do you like?
Tobey: ....a consistent one...
Violet: (laughs) You're so silly Tobey! Scoops! What'd you think?
Scoops: ... Um... I loved it of course! I mean, you were in it! And I love you! So how could I not love it!
Becky, having learned from the WordGirl stuff, later told Violet the truth and explained that she didn't like the play at all and only liked that Violet seemed so happy doing it. Violet took this well. Tobey and Scoops however...:
Scoops: PROBLEM PROBLEM PROBLEM!
Tobey: What?
Scoops: The school paper wants me to review the school play! I can't say it was good, that goes against my oath as a reporter! But I can't say it was bad either, I already told Violet I loved it!
Tobey: Ask someone else to do it
Scoops: No one else has the time to take on any more assignments! What am I gonna do?! I don't wanna upset Violet!
Tobey: um...uh...could you post it anonymously?
Those actions eventually lead to Scoops and Violet breaking up (don't worry, they did get back together years later)
Scoops took his and Violet's break up particularly hard, and Tobey tried to cheer him up by finding weird things happening in the city for Scoops to write about. It didn't help a whole lot, but Scoops appreciated Tobey trying to cheer him up. Meanwhile Becky, who by this point all her friends knew she was WordGirl, essentially tried to fix Scoops and Violet's now ended relationship, and between trying to help them, school work, hero work and family life, she ended up stretching herself a little too thin to the point that all her friends had to do an intervention and tell her to stop because it wasn't good for her.
I've mentioned before that Becky's necklace in Word Up in significant and special to her. This necklace was actually made by Scoops, Violet and Tobey. Note the fact that her friends made it isn't the reason it's so important to her, but it is sweet they took the time to make it for her.
For one of his birthdays Tobey invited his friends to a demolition derby. When his friends said they thought it odd he'd be into that, he stated it was his new outlet for seeing destruction now that he was no longer doing crime.
Hmm that's all I have for now! If you are wanting more and have any particular questions or ideas, feel free to send more asks! If they are a little more specific I'll probably get to them a little sooner

Undertale x Deltarune Theory: Magic In RH Negative Humans And Hybrid Children
if some humans and monsters aren’t able to have children together, like in both the canon and a few fanon timelines of Undertale AU.
but there could be a loophole, while there can be some humans who aren’t able to have a child with a monster, there can be some that actually can.
like I have a theory, that if some humans who live in Undertale’s World and maybe even those in Deltarune’s World were to have RH Negative blood type, they would be able to have a child with a monster, this is because the human with RH Negative has a body that is a mix of the same water and matter that makes up the human body, but also is made up of magic as well.
the reason why when a human mother from the undertale or deltarune world who has RH Negative blood, has problems when her blood ends up harming the baby, it could be because of the magic from their body.
I also think the human holding a sword in the opening of Undertale, might be Toriel when she was human.
the reason she was able to become the same type as monster as Asgore, is because her blood type being O RH D Negative.
a human spouse with RH Negative blood, can have a choice to transform as the same type of monster as their monster spouse or stay as they are.
and how Toriel could of been turned from a human princess to a monster who would become the wife and queen of Asgore, could have to do with a type of metamorphosis spell, but it would need consent from both parties for it to work.
and it can only work on humans who’s bodies are made up of magic and water as well as the other matter.
if that were real in real life, maybe I could have the choice to be turned into a boss monster or the same type as Sans and Papyrus. XD
I really should try to get around to see if my blood type will come out O RH D Negative for a third time, I can’t keep putting it off and procrastinating with it.
I can’t help but seeing my being able to use a pendulum, as a type of Magic.
in theory if there are very few monster skeletons, if they do end up marrying a human that has RH Negative blood, they could rebuild the monster skeleton population, because being able to have a child with a human with RH Negative blood.
if Toriel was once human, it is possible she would of had to been a Boss Monster when she had Asriel, it might be unknown if she still could of had him if she was still human.
but a human with RH Negative Blood, could still be a human and still have a child with a monster skeleton, but can choose to go through the metamorphosis spell to become a skeleton like their life-partner/spouse skeleton.
for all we know, Papyrus and Sans’s Mom could of been a Human.
I still think Sans could be the future self of Steven Quartz Universe, either from being brought back to life after his gem was forced out of his body, and his gem half that makes up Pink-Steven not reforming in time and causing the human half of Steven to slowly die when not fused back together with his gem half...
or Steven could of became Sans through reincarnation.
anyway I guess I can talk more about this theory that while in maybe in the canon and fanon timelines, some humans and monsters aren’t able to have children together, but could if the human has RH Negative blood.
in cause a human and monster couple do want to have a child together, but aren’t able to because they aren’t able to because of the human’s blood type.
they could have a RH Negative blood type Human act as a surrogate mother for the two, to help them have a child.
anyway I think I will wait to talk about this theory more maybe tomorrow or whenever I can.
also please do not reblog this without my permission....I had to edit two drawing’s tags, that had that tag, but two people had reblog despite that tag already being there, so because I didn’t feel like talking to them about it, I decided to edit the tags out....
but I think next time, I will make sure to mention it somewhere at the very top of the post, so the tags wont be ignored.
I will sign back on later tonight or tomorrow, hope some like this theory about RH Negatives in Undertale and Deltarune.
Kris could be RH Negative for all we know, same goes for Frisk and Chara.

Got any fusionfall head canons on any of the new characters who are introduced into Cartoon Network universe?
It depends on how new we're talking about. Shows like Regular Show did get some nods in FusionFall--if only at the tail end of the game's run through things such adding them to the line-up of nanos--so I do plan on talking about them at some point. (I don't know where I'm gonna draw the line yet with properties featured, but not technically owned, by the network...) I think Steven Universe might've just barely missed the boat, so I feel compelled to bring it up eventually as well. However, for different reasons, my focus is mainly on the older shows.
I feel like I need to add an addendum for reboots/sequel shows since I have brought up Omniverse in the past: Overall, I won't talk about them due to just how much they can contradict with their original shows and instead see them as their own thing. Omniverse is a special case since it sprung from where AF/UA left off in multiple ways integral to the story, dumped so much into the Ben 10 franchise that it's one of the best sources to dig for lore. and it's easy to play along with its multiverse. I can see where, as the war with Fuse ends, certain events in Omniverse would start, especially things like the intergalactic Plumber organization gaining a heavier presence on Earth.
Anything specifically with the newest shows are simple ideas I've had in-passing. I can see Lake having a much easier time blending into FusionFall's everyday world than in Infinity Train's; Craig and the gang hanging out around Peach Creek, Craig particularly getting involved in maintaining the cardboard castle and working with 2x4 technology; Pure Heart Valley being another isolated area like Stormalong Harbor or Ooo that struggled to get outside help at the start of the war; etc. As mentioned in that previous ask I linked to though, I wouldn't likely be able to answer much on their shows in-depth from where I stopped watching the network.

movies & shows
cracks knuckles* alright this is going to be more of a rant than an analysis because i’m basing this on both my research, but also how it felt to personally be baited by these shows. there are obviously more pieces of bad (almost every horror movie) and good ones but these are the ones i’ve watched.
please keep in mind that i am but one queer and everyone has different opinions.
Supernatural (CW) 2005
Tumblr media
This show is 15 years old and just ended. From season 5 till 15, there has been tension between two of the lead characters. They were constantly shipped together and not only did the entire fandom know about this ship but so did almost all of Tumblr. On top of that, the actors and show runners knew about it as well. Which is why it makes it ridiculous that it was constantly pushed aside while the romantic coding  kept happening, even after show runners dismissed it as being intentional. The Destiel (Dean x Cas) case has been going on for years, and as the show came to its end, many fans had hope. But N O P E. Instead, we got a love confession from Cas where Dean looked like he was near constipated and the Cas was killed and sent into a fiery place that was not hell but s u p e r  h e l l.
… w hy.
Sherlock (BBC) 2010
Tumblr media
Just like Supernatural, this show was renown on Tumblr for not only how good it was, but its hinting at a potential relationship between Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. But again, like Supernatural, the intentional tension between the two characters was denied by producers. This caused an uproar within the fandom, and even left some people believing that, after the last season aired, it had been a joke and the producers were hiding a “secret, unaired season” because they had felt so robbed by this show that had implied something and denied it.
The 100 (CW) 2014
Tumblr media
We got lesbians. We got background gays. We were happy. Then, all of a sudden, one of them is killed for no reason. Did it advance the plot? No. Was she fighting and died in battle? lol no. She was doing literally nothing and got shot and died. And then the producers kept bringing her back once a season in the form of a ghost or illusion because why? Because she was a fan favourite queer character. ✨bury your gays and sparingly bring them back for profit anyone?✨
Voltron: Legendary Defender (Netflix) 2016
Tumblr media
*deep breathe* This one is a special disaster. Not only was there romantic tension and romantically coded scenes for 7 seasons, but producers, voice actors and artists working on the show repeatedly said “don’t worry klance (Keith x Lance) shippers, you’ll be happy”
. … w h e r e??? You code one of their scenes with a sunset in the background while they talk about love and then one of them goes on a date with someone who has declined his advances for 7 seasons but now in season 8 decides to do a full 180. Not only that, but you announce at a Comic Con (a convention) that a character is gay and has a fiancé, only to kill off the fiancé and never make it explicit in the show except at the last second of the last episode where he marries a no name character.
Personally, i’d like to say a big fuck you to the show that strung me along for 2 years and never stopped saying we’d be happy to then pull the rug out from under us and call us crazy for thinking anything from the past 8 seasons was intentional.
Scooby-Doo (2002)
Tumblr media
While not being outwardly queerbaiting, this movie’s filmmaker has just revealed some shocking news, which wasn’t at all shocking to the gays who had watched this movie over the years. In July of 2020, James Gunn, the filmmaker of Scooby-Doo, revealed in a podcast that, initially, Velma was explicitly gay in his script, but then the studio watered it down until it became nothing. This isn’t an example of baiting as much as it is changing a character’s initial design to “better fit an audience”. The worst part of all this is that with Velma’s character having been written with a l i t t l e queer subtext, people had been theorizing about if since the movie came out, but were always yelled at by the internet for “imagining something that isn’t there”. But now, even with it being said that the initial point was for her to be gay, people have no objections to still refusing to accept it. Why?? So we can’t get the subtext gays OR the confirmed gays?? Make it make sense.
Brooklyn 99 (NBC) 2013
Tumblr media
To have the queer characters firstly introduced without mentioning their sexualities and have it brought up naturally was so goddamn nice to see, because no one does a big deal about it unless they ask for that. This show is amazing in general but the way they show their queer characters is *chefs kiss*.
She-ra and the Princesses of Power (Netflix) 2018
Tumblr media
This. Show. My heart SOARS. It's just a remake of an old show so absolutely nothing was ever expected, but then it was sprinkled in and ENDED WITH A BANG. And it was so beautiful and real to see the struggle of two friends who care for each other and want to be together but have different visions of the world fall in love. And they also had characters with disabilities, a non-binary character and jUST SUCH A GOOD SHOW.
Kipo and The Age of Wonderbeasts (Netflix) 2020
Tumblr media
This is a case where you go into it not expecting anything and are BLOWN AWAY by the bare minimum. And not because it’s bad!! It's mind blowing because this is the simple representation we need!! Not something over the top, but an every day relationship. It’s just two boys falling in love and going on dates and being nervous around each other, yet i was so stunned. Because it’s not shown enough. I should not be this excited over something that should be this normal. 10/10 though this show is so good for all kinds of representation.
Steven Universe (Cartoon Network) 2013
Tumblr media
This show did so much for queer representation with its general message of loving everyone and loving who you want. Especially since it was aired on Cartoon Network, a channel for kids, it was able to help normalize something so looked down upon in some circles. It made it easy to watch for s o m e people because it's a cartoon but it's so beautiful to see these ladies so in love with each other, both platonically and romantically and we see them have a family dynamic that isn’t a “nuclear family”. Rebecca Sugar (creator) really said “lemme just break all stereotypes real quick”.
Adventure Time (Cartoon Network) 2010
Tumblr media
It's the “knowing a fanbase shipped something so hard that the creators made it canon” for me. This relationship had been theorized by fans for years, but it had never been explicit in the show. When the finale episode came out and the two shared a kiss, it was a moment of celebration. The producer of the show said that it had not really been planned but when the episode was being made, the choice of what happened was given to one of the artists (bless your soul Hanna K. Nyströmthe). And as the show releases little bonus episodes, its latest was centered around Marceline and Bubblegum and their relationship. AND WE LOVE TO SEE OUR DOMESTIC LESBIANS BEING HAPPY AND IN LOVE.
Yuri on Ice!!! (anime) 2016
Tumblr media
The fact that an A N I M E gave us a love story between two men is mind boggling and it makes me so happy!! Especially because it's a Japanese show and they’re very conservative about these things just makes it more emotional. The creators said they wanted to make the anime take place in a world where gay/straight isn’t a thing, it’s just love (ladies, you’re going to make me cry). So as the weekly episodes came out and fans start speculating, THEY GAVE US THE LAST FEW EPISODES FULL OF ROMANCE AND EMOTIONAL SCENES BETWEEN THE TWO AND THEN THEY GET R I N GS?!???!! You watch for the figure skating, you stay for the figure skaters that are in love.
Shadowhunters (Freeform) 2016
Tumblr media
*insert me being frustrated that the actors are straight so we can move on from that disappointment*
This show really said “let’s name a whole episode after this couple because they deserve it”. But seriously, they gave us two characters whose entire plot does not center around their sexualities while still showing us the differences in a relationship between someone experienced and someone new at this. They were both powerful and amazing characters apart from each other, with their own story lines and goals but they loved each other so much omgs. SO MUCH.
It was so great to watch.
Love, Simon (2018)
Tumblr media
There’s a lot of disagreement on whether this movie is good representation or not. However, we need to take into consideration that this was Hollywood’s first movie with a main character that was gay, where the story’s focus was on Simon’s love story. The biggest problem, for me at least, was that the actor playing Simon is a straight man and not queer. My problem is not with him, but the fact that there are other actors that are gay and that could have played Simon just as well. (the love interested was however played by a queer actor so ✨progress✨)
All in all, this movie does represent what a lot of queer kids have to go through: being outed at school, how they then come out, the bullying and doubt they go through.
The book is also really good.
Call Me By Your Name (2018)
Tumblr media
This movie is so aesthetically pleasing and was able to capture the confusion and heartbreak felt by a boy who’s struggling with his own feelings towards a man. His inner conflict and joy and l o v e he feels but doesn’t know how to deal with is so well communicated through the screen and just breaks your heart because it feels so real.
But again, they could’ve gotten gay actors to play gay characters…
through having this list here, i want to show you that it’s not hard for creators to give good queer representation. the LGBTQ+ community isn’t asking for much, we just want to be well represented on screen as just a regular character, not some token queer kid there for the diversity points. having been exposed to so much queerbaiting and just not seeing any representation on screen, i always get over-excited when i see a queer character, and that’s not how it should be. it should be a normal thing, something you can find in most pieces of media, just like there’s a straight white cisgender person in everything.
and they seriously need to start casting queer actors for queer characters...

5. Of Friendship and Fantasies, because it was fun to write a piece exploring gender and sexuality and having it be just, like, pure comedy and fun. I feel like we always have to write about it like it’s a big, serious thing. It’s nice to write about it casually.
Stars, it would have been funny if they had kissed. Connie thought about it for the next week as she tried to focus on school. She wouldn't mind at all if Steven kissed her as a girl. Steven was Steven after all. It'd be cute and silly if she did. She should tell Steven that - that if they kissed while in girl-mode it would be really cute and fun.
Connie thought about it during class, her eyes glazing over during a math lecture she had already mastered. The end of her pen pressed to her lips in a fake kiss. It wasn’t weird to kiss her pen. She wasn’t uncomfortable. So it really shouldn’t be a big deal to kiss Steven just because she had her boobs on for the day, or something like that.
She wondered if Steven would kiss any different as a girl, if they were really kissing and not just doing a fun peck (which was actually normal in other cultures, so they could definitely kiss on the cheek to say hi). Would she be gentler about kissing? But Steven's girl-mode wasn't really gentler. If anything boy-mode Steven was softer.
So maybe girl-mode Steven would be the kind of person who would pounce on her neck like a vampire. She could see that. Or maybe she'd keep that kind of flirty tone. She'd kiss her really slow, until Connie was flustered and asking her to hurry up. Or maybe she'd be the shy type if Connie was interested, and her cool face would go all wide eyed and parted lips as Connie slowly leaned down and kissed her deep and slow.
It was fun to think about, was all.
6. Wheels. All of it. The whole thing. I’m not even gonna bother taking a snippet from it. Just, like, as a whole, Wheels was great to write. I loved writing, I feel it fit into the established canon really well, and it’s just a really fun, interesting piece.
7. Gap Year! Lol, had to say that one. If I had to pick, out of everything, my favorite chapter is absolutely Chapter 16: Sunrise. It is a chapter that focuses entirely on therapy, on healing, on learning how to cope with the things that trauma leaves behind.
I desperately needed to see healing for the characters I loved. And though there was plenty for Steven, I never saw any for Connie. So I wrote it myself. I worked with a lot of great people to make it as good as I could, and I know it meant a lot to a lot of people. The whole story did. But that chapter I’m proud of most of all, because more than anything else I think we should focus on the work it takes to heal.
Stories of healing are interesting and valuable and good and we should have more of them.
8. Second User! I could probably fill a top eight just with scenes from Second User. I really had so much fun writing it. Second User is the kind of fic I write where I barely care about my audience and I do it all for me, lol. And I just really, really love writing the horror of nightmares - no blood, no gore, just the surreal terror your mind makes.
There was a way out of this. She tugged on a wrist-thick cord, weaving her hands through the tangled mess and dragging the binding to her mouth. Her lip curled back, teeth bared, and she snapped around the bitter rope.
Everything was pain.
Not in her body, but in her heart, her mind. She was a child on the beach, a ruined ship jutting up from the sand - the aftermath to a battle she never got to see. Steven was gone, hiding, done with her for the first time. The world had turned scary and he was the protector and she was the protected and the split in their worlds loomed below her feet like a canyon.
Her eyes burned and she tried to breathe, but her throat and mouth were full. She coughed, gasped, and oak leaves scraped across her tongue on their way out into the air.
The cord sat, half severed by her teeth in her hands, and it bled green acid. It flowed over her mouth, across her hands, dripped slowly down her arms with a sizzling pain she couldn’t feel. The tangy scent of scorched wild mustard filled her nose.
“Hurts, doesn’t it?” her own voice asked coldly.
She tried to speak, but no sound would come. The acid was thick like blood, coating her tongue and teeth and lips and hands, and she had nothing to heal it away. She swallowed the poison and felt the thickness creep along her throat to her belly, and revulsion and disgust nearly brought it back up.
Also at the end that i kinda wanted to say Listen All Night Long but, like... I also feel like it was so much more of a collab and such a big reason I loved it so much is because of Kerry’s beautiful designs, and working with her to create something cool. I don’t know if it was my best work, but I know that the stuff we made together was really great! And it was so much fun to have quippy, silly prose throughout too. So special category for collabing with suffering on that one, because i have no idea how to classify it but i fucking loved it.

Hello, Hello! I hope you've had a wonderful day! I noticed that one of the ships you listed was SyaoSaku, so I had to hop over here to ask: 2 – Favorite trope? 3 – Canon or AU setting? 5 – Headcanon about them? 10 – Give a fluffy premise for them Q – Recommend a fic featuring the ship! (can be yours!)
I was hoping you'd ask about this ship! I included it because I'd just come across your reblog of the dance scene from the second movie.
2. Favourite trope This is also one of the reasons I love this series/pairing, but Syoaran being completely in love with Sakura first. And even being shy about it or having Sakura be completely oblivious. It's such a sweet way of creating the relationship and one I don't come across in many mainstream romance novels. Or Sakura taking care of him when he's sick and him becoming completely flustered about it.
3. Canon or AU This is always a tough one, especially with Clear Card being unfinished at the moment. I can't really decide because AU gives me the chance to experience the above-mentioned trope again, but the world of the Clow/Sakura/now Clear cards is so dynamic! And Tsubasa/Holic as well (gimme all the Fai and Mokona interactions!).
5. Headcanon about them They both go out of their way to find out as much as they can about each other in order to use it for their own selfish (albeit super sweet) needs. So Sakura will find out what all of his favourite foods are, then “accidently” cook too much of it for dinner and then mysteriously having extra to put in a bento box for Syaoran the next day. Or Syaoran goes through a haunted house by himself and memorize where the worst “scares” are, so when he goes through with her (because Tomoyo/Kero drags her into it), he can put himself between her and the props/actors. And they try to pass it off as completely accidental, but Tomoyo sees through it every time (and makes sneaky comments about it when she’s alone with each of them).
10. Fluffy premise After the first time, Sakura thought she’d imagined it. After the second time, she assumed it was an accident—a result of them walking next to each other. After the third time, she felt a blush start to creep up her neck.
Syaoran’s fingers kept brushing against hers.
They’d been walking home together ever since he came back from Hong Kong. Even though her house was a little out of his way, he insisted on dropping her off every day. Sakura blushed more, her embarrassment mixing with guilt as she snuck a look at the boy next to him. She was fully capable of taking on anything that came at her but wanted to spend as much with him as possible, so she hadn’t argued when he’d brought it up.
The back of his fingers brushed hers again.
Sakura jumped, unable to stop herself from fully turning her head to look at him. He was looking straight ahead, his shoulders tense as his cheeks darkened in colour. Sakura’s eyes widened in surprise.
He was doing it on purpose.
Feeling her own cheeks heat, she looked forward, softly biting her lower lip. Words failed her as they continued down the street, the crunch of fallen leaves under their feet the only sound around them.
She struggled to keep the hand closest to him relaxed as she adjusted the straps of her bag with the other. Maybe she should do it back, let him know she didn’t mind. Or should she say something?
“Syaoran—"
He reached out and grabbed her hand, his entire face turning crimson. Sakura squeaked in surprise, staring down at their hands, then up his face. He was still looking straight ahead, refusing to meet her gaze as he interlaced his fingers with hers.
A slight smile broke out onto her face and she gave his hand a soft squeeze, falling back into the natural rhythm they’d been in before. After a few steps, she felt some of the tension leave his body and her smile broadened.
“I like walking home with you.”
Q. Recommend a fic You know, I actually haven't read a fic in that fandom in years. I used to read them all the time when I first got into fan fiction but that was over 15 years ago and I haven't had the chance to read anything new yet. If YOU have any recommendations, please let me know!

Tied To You
First prompt for the @sesskag-annual-falloween-event!
Title: Tied To You Trope: Red String of Fate Summary: Kagome agrees to help Shippou with a school assignment, unaware it will change her fate forever. Links: A03, Dokuga, FFnet
Sneak Peek:
Shippou let out a cheer and wrapped his arms around her neck, peppering her face with kisses.
“Thank you, Mama! You’re the best!”
She laughed, his excitement infectious and pulling her out of her foul mood. “Just promise me that you’ll get another tail out of this.”
He struck a determined pose, then sat in front of her, grabbing both her hands. Kagome tucked her feet underneath her as she watched him chant under his breath, his tiny claws drawing symbols on her palms. The sensation tickled and she forced herself not to twitch, her hands beginning to glow before a single string wrapped itself around her finger in an intricate bow.
Blue eyes widened as the string curled and twisted into the air in front of her, moving like a snake before flying towards her hut. It wrapped itself around the posts of her front door, creating a tangled mess of thread, barring anyone from moving in or out. Kagome watched the string turn from white to green before catching fire.
A protest was on the tip of her tongue as the ashes fell to the ground, the wood of her hut left untouched. The string then turned a brilliant shade of purple, the wind swirling the ashes around the charred end, lifting it into the air and blowing it west.
Kagome felt a tug on her finger—like holding onto a kite—urging her to stand. She frowned slightly and got to her feet, Shippou’s eyes watching her intently. She couldn’t see the end of the string, but it felt attached to something. Her heart squeezed, feeling like she was on the verge of something important before Shippou’s chanting stopped and the string faded altogether.
Blinking, Kagome looked down at her hand and found it bare.

Discord Drabble Nights September 2021 Banner by the always lovely @cakeit0n. Also available on Ao3, Dokuga, and FFnet.
Start
Kagome ran her fingers through her hair, combing out the last of the tangles. They'd been fortunate to come across a hot spring—the first one in weeks—and she'd indulged longer than normal.
"Sorry for the wait, everyone, we can get started now—" She frowned as she looked around, flames from their fire causing shadows to dance around empty spaces.
She stiffened as she reached out with her reiki, worried she'd missed an impending threat. Strong youki responded, caressing her aura as Sesshoumaru stepped out of the trees.
"They have moved on, miko."
"What? Why?!"
Drawn
As if to answer her, lightning crackled across the sky, darkness turning to daylight before thunder echoed in the distance.
"They have sought shelter."
Kagome cursed under her breath. "They could've let me know!"
"You seemed to require extra time in the spring, we have been on the move for some time."
Blue eyes widened, realization dawning on her. "You waited until I was done?" A single nod of his head had her lips curling up into a soft smile. "Thank you."
He shrugged a shoulder. "Consider it payment for protecting Rin during our last encounter with Naraku."
Root
She shook her hands in front of her, about to deny his claim, but her words were cut off as rain began to pelt them from above.
"So much for the hot spring," Kagome groaned, the icy water quickly soaking through her clean clothing. Looking around, she tried to figure out which way her friends had gone but the electricity in the air was dulling her senses.
A tug at her wrist had her stumbling over tree roots, Sesshoumaru almost dragging her through the forest.
"Hey, w-wait!"
"There is no time, the storm draws nearer, and you are vulnerable."
Influence
"It's not like you're immune to lightning."
He gave her a backwards glance, his gold eyes gleaming in the encroaching darkness.
"Are you certain?"
Kagome didn't answer, instantly intrigued. "Are you?" Another flash of lightning streaked across the sky above them and she heard him hiss through his teeth before wrapping an arm around her waist.
And then they were darting through the trees.
She yelped and grabbed hold of his haori, her protest muffled against his breastplate.
"I can still walk!"
"We do not have time for you to stumble around like the monk when he is under the influence."

10 ♠️!
10♠️ - A fluffy scenario for SessKag
Oh man... I literally have half a notebook full of one shots of them. I'll give you a snippet of the one that's been running around in my head the most lately though. I have a feeling this one might end up as more than one chapter (I'm sorry this took so long! I was only planning on giving you a snippet and then I got started and couldn't stop lol).
Summary
Kags and Sess happen across each other in her time (she never went back through the well) and end up exchanging numbers. Sess is away on a business trip and Kags is at a friend's house for a girl's night. Said friends have been wondering/bugging her about this "mystery guy" she's been texting on the regular. Kags denies he's anything special (just that he's the brother of her ex), but they don't believe her, so they steal her phone and send "I miss you" to him. Kags is horrified as she watches the icon that shows he's replying/typing something appear and disappear multiple times before disappearing completely. She's worried and is trying to mentally come up with a response but then gets distracted by her friends and forgets about her phone. She goes home that night, slightly tipsy and falls asleep, only to have her phone ring in the middle of the night.
Kagome jerked awake to the sound of her phone going off, fumbling in the dark to silence the offensive noise. She eventually found it under her bed, stuffed in one of her shoes. Clearly she'd had more to drink than she thought. Closing her eyes to the bright light of the screen, her thumb managed to find the small green button.
"This better be important," she snapped, having to clear her throat halfway through. Silence greeted her on the other end and she was two seconds away from throwing her phone at the wall before a low voiced rumbled in her ear.
“I apologize for the late hour.”
Blue eyes shot open as she gripped her phone with both hands. “S-Sesshoumaru?”
“I…forgot about the time difference. I should have checked before—”
“No no! It’s fine! It’s not like I’ve got anything planned for tomorrow anyway.” Propping her phone between her shoulder and her ear, she reached for the glass of water on her nightstand, downing half of it before crossing her legs under her. “How’s your trip been so far?”
“Tedious. But that is to be expected.” A stagnant pause stretched between them and Kagome physically winced. She knew this was coming. She should’ve just explained that her friends were the ones who’d sent the text in the first place. He was probably calling to tell her to lose his number.
“Look, Sesshoumaru,” she said, not wanting to prolong an awkward situation. “About earlier…”
“I must apologize again. I was pulled into a meeting before I was able to respond to your message. It appears that those in charge here are more incompetent than I initially presumed.”
Kagome couldn’t help the smile that pulled at her lips. “That’s two apologies in one night Sesshoumaru, are you sure youhaven’t been drinking?”
A soft chuckle sounded in her ear and suddenly her chest felt tight. She would miss that sound, when he inevitably told her never to contact him again.
“You seem to have that effect on people, miko.”
She opened her mouth to ask what he meant, then bit her lip to stop herself. She had to stop this. She didn’t want any more memories between them to reminisce about—any more reasons to miss him for real.
She cleared her throat and tried again. “I’m sorry if my text from earlier—well—I wasn’t the one who sent it. We were talking about you, and they misunderstood the situation and thought I was too scared to…confess, so they thought they were doing me a favour.”
Silence greeted her again and she pulled her knees into her chest, hiding her face as she stifled a groan. She’d had such a great thing going with him; he’d even been the one to suggest exchanging numbers in the first place. When had she started looking forward to talking with him every day? Checking her phone for notifications under his name?
Her friends were so nosy and always seemed to come the wrong conclusion. They assumed the worst with Inuyasha without understanding the complexity of his relationship with Kikyou—though she was still trying to figure that out herself, even after the well had been closed for five years. And now they’d gone and done the same thing with Sesshoumaru.
Why couldn’t they let her figure things out for herself?
“So, your friends sent the message.”
Kagome nodded, then remembered he couldn’t actually see her. “Yes.”
“And yet you did not amend the statement in the hours following.”
“I-I…” Her head shot up, her eyes widening as his words sank in. “No… No, I didn’t.” Why hadn’t she? Sure, she’d been distracted by Yuka’s sudden outburst, but that didn’t account for the remaining time she’d spent with her friends. Or how long she’d been home afterwards.
“Was it untrue?”
Kagome bit her lip, her hand tightening around her phone, the answer already clear in her mind. She could lie. She could pretend that nothing had changed and that it was just her friends overstepping. But she refused to be dishonest when he’d always been truthful with her.
“No.”
“Then it is irrelevant who sent it.”
