have i talked before about how crazy it drives me that in old bdubs videos he would super abashedly talk about his love for making things pretty? because. it drives me crazy.
at the beginning of mc4 when everyone was clearing out spawn so it was a lifeless flat plot of land to build on and bdubs took it personally and added grass and foliage once everything was built to make the whole landscape more lively and cohesive. and how hed get made fun of for thinking about little shit like that.
also when he got asked what hed be doing if he wasnt doing mc and he mentioned music (i think) and basically was super embarrassed to be like “i know its not very manly, but im super into artsy fartsy stuff”. as if that is a bad thing.
anyway im getting so emo thinking about how in hermitcraft, everyone knows and admires bdubs skill as a builder and its not ever something thats made fun of anymore. thinking about how bdubs never talks down about his own abilities anymore and instead of feeling weird about being a dude whose into artsy fartsy stuff, hes really embraced his career as a creator of beautiful things.

the most unrealistic part of gravity falls is that Ford got bullied for having six fingers on each hand. people are not that observant about the number of fingers you have. i speak from experience

Can we talk about how unbelievably normal Kevin would've been if he wasn't the Son Of Exy? I mean seriously, even with that he's a history major. A history major. His mother died in a car crash, he was abused for over half his life, he ran away to live with his illegitimate father and yet he is still tries so hard to be normal. When Andrew gets at him for having no spine, it makes me so unspeakably mad because yes! of course he's scared! His abuser is chasing him across the country to his safe space and is torturing and killing his friends!
Kevin pretty much grew up in a cult and his response is to avoid confrontation with them because opening his mouth has always meant incurring Riko's wrath; it's better for everyone to take the path of least resistance- sit down, shut up and don't cause any problems. Kevin is pretty much the fawn response to Andrew's fight and Neil's flight and it's so annoying how critical of Kevin everyone was. He was trying his goddamn best and when Wymack literally had to tackle Kevin in his apartment to calm him down showed us how much pain and fear he was in, how much he had always been in.
He grew up in a cage and he never got the outlet Neil had when he ran, or when Andrew lashed out and got shipped somewhere else. Kevin Day deserved the life he was owed and he finally got it when he went to Palmetto. He finally got to play exy on his own terms, went pro, made the US Court AND got a family- Wymack, Abby, and Thea. Not only them, but the Foxes too. Neil and Andrew, Nicky, Aaron, Dan, Matt, Allison and Renee. He got everything he deserved in the end and yes that is the success story we all needed for him.

i do think that like. the current tiktok phenomenon of bullying teenagers for being really into stranger things, specifically a character who was considered an outcast for being nerdy and neurodivergent coded, is really weird though. like ive never watched stranger things and i dont plan to but like. it's a popular show. no one's going to look at you weird if you say you've watched stranger things and you really liked it. it's one of netflix's big shows
but people on tiktok are specifically making fun of kids who get over emotional about it. i havent touched anything stranger things and i still keep getting recommended tiktoks of people being like imagine getting attached to a character who was only in one season. that's so cringe
why is it now considered cool to be nerdy, but only if you're not too into it? why can i scroll through tiktok and see some conventionally attractive tiktoker get a million views for a low effort anime cosplay and then i scroll down and someone's mocking a stranger things fansong? it's like being a nerd is just an aesthetic and if it's more than that to you then you're a loser
idk it fucking reeks of ableism and i hate it
