Whatever problems aside, I adore the painterly (?) take they did with the designs in the One Piece remake- It's obviously not 1:1 but the coloring style reminds me a lot of Oda's earlier color-spreads (it's the white highlights tbh):
It's most likely just concept art but there's just so much life being breathed into East Blue that shows how much care was being put into the world, e.g. the culture of each island, a focus on making the world seem alive and lived in, what materials/items fit already existing characters.
One thing I love that they pointed out: "Themes in the original manga is deep. Like war, or stepping in topics of race. It allows all ages of readers to ponder about it and be entertained at the same time. This is the most intriguing part of the manga in my opinion. This is the fascination of the work."
As a fan of One Piece's themes and character-work (of which they also brought up- highly encourage anyone to watch the full video!), it was nice to see that emphasized. While most of what they showcased were the visuals for the anime, recognizing the heart of One Piece's story made me incredibly happy- even though that should be a given lmao. It's just so cool.
At the end of the day, I'm literally a manga reader so I don't tend to keep up with new other stuff, but what I'm hoping is for this to rope in new viewers who are afraid to start the original One Piece (especially with how notorious regular watchers say the pacing is, esp post-timeskip, + outdated SEs, etc.).
Ultimately I understand that it's not really geared towards me. I'd say read the manga if pacing is such a problem but I know it all boils down to preference in the end. All this presents is another lens for me to view the story in, and personally, it's nothing less.

im my own personal post-canon for hs, hal gets a body bc he wasnt yeeted into a fucking sprite, so he gets to experience the world once again like he was able to when he was dirk. but he has also diverged from dirk in a way that he is a distinct entity, and decides to keep the name hal to signify this. and he gets to do whatever the fuck he wants

Another 'Micah should sleep' thought;
I guess Jere and Mikke reminds me a lot of me and my sister.
We have the shorter individual with darker hair and a dyed beard that is very silly and having close to no filter compared to the more mature, taller sibling with lighter hair and no beard who seems to have their shit together a bit more (even if they are very busy) and also openly cringes at their sibling/lightly friendly bullies them for their behavior.
The one thing I can think of that is a bit off with this comparison is that I am the older sibling and jere is the younger xD
