at the start of your relationship, luka would be a little bit distant.

he loves you, he really does, that's why you're his and he's yours. thing is, he has never been put in a situation where he has to express genuine affection towards someone, it's always been an act he had to put up for a performance of sorts.

you have to be patient with luka. let him warm up to the concept of a relationship, give him time to figure out how he likes to display his love and adoration for you while you display it in your own ways.

it takes luka some time before he finally gets used to being together, but when he's got the gist of it, the wait seems to have been worth it.

behind closed doors, luka is clingy. when the two of you are sleeping he'll tangle his limbs with yours, making it practically impossible for you to get out of bed first. other than that, he's all over you 24/7, even if you're just at home — holding your hand, coming up behind you and encircling his arms around your waist, or laying his head on your shoulder.

if you aren't the type who enjoys physical touch or refuse his advances, luka will actually back himself into a corner and weep. he understands that you might not like being touched or having your personal space be invaded, but luka's favourite moments with you are the ones where you're each tending to your own tasks except he's laying snugly in your embrace or you are in his.

luka appreciates to hear words of affirmation coming from you. reassure him, tell him you love him, compliment him — he craves it. he won't start doubting your love for him if you don't give him those reminders on a daily basis, but he really loves to hear those words spilling from your lips.

another thing luka really loves is going on dates with you. but he doesn't want to go on extravagant dates, no. he likes dates that are held in more secluded establishments, dates with a cozy vibe that allow you to not worry about being seen by the public eye much.

think picnics — if flowers have bloomed around you, luka will pluck a few out of the soil and meticulously weave them into a crown made specifically for you, wordlessly placing it atop your head. or coffee shop dates, getting coffee and some desert and chatting about whatever's been going on in both of your lives.

luka is the kind of boyfriend who would mention you whenever he has the opportunity. your relationship is private, not hidden.

he's getting invited to hang out with some people? he can't, you're waiting for him at home. some of his co—actors want to go out for drinks after finishing the recording of their latest project? luka can't, he wouldn't want you to worry for him and his whereabouts, especially considering his low alcohol tolerance.

some of his friends actually begin to consider what they say before speaking because if they miscalculate just one word that reminds luka of you in any way shape or form, he will bring you up. and then he'll go on and on and on about you.

although he wouldn't show it on the outside, luka tears up internally whenever you call him your boyfriend in front of others. he is your boyfriend, but he can't believe it! he can't believe that you're his significant other, that you reciprocate his strong feelings.

luka would unironically ask you if you have a crush on him despite dating each other. if you say yes he'll be bouncing off the walls. if you don't, he would go into another room and sulk to himself because he definitely has a crush on you!

luka will cry on your wedding day. multiple times, even. sometimes, after that fateful day, he'll start sniffling after catching sight of the wedding band on his finger. to say that he loves you is an understatement.

Christmas headcannons for the Punch Out!! Wii boxers!! 🥊🎄✨️

They're all having a christmas party/sleepover together, there's a big Christmas tree in the gym, and their doing Secret Santa :3

Glass Joe 🇫🇷 🥐

- Made most of the food for the Xmas party. He baked bundt cakes, sugar cookies, peppermint brittle, buche de noel, and little gingerbread men he decorated to look like the boxers. Bro literally baked his German bf into a cookie because he misses him-

- The ref gifted ugly Christmas sweaters to all the boxers. Joe got an oversized blue and white jack frost themed one. He actually loved it and is keeping it

- Got berated by Aran throwing snowballs at him on his way to the party

- Overly invested in Kaiser retelling Christmas stories

- Over drank hot chocolate and passed out around 10pm. Later woke up under the tree, wrapped in wrapping paper and with several gift boys in his hair. Shockingly, it wasn't Aran who did this-

- Received his secret Santa gift from Kaiser. It was a makeshift lightweight belt Kaiser had crafted himself. Joe cried for 20 minutes straight after receiving it

- His new year resolution is to win more fights

- Had amazing childhood Christmas's as a child (at least the ones with just his mom) and will happily hyperfixate and info dump about them

- Taught Joe how to make fresh gingerbread (Lebkuchen)

- Recieved lots of cute, hand-made christmas cards from his boxing class. Almost cried reading them since they all praised him as a boxing teacher

- Traumatized most of the boxers after he told lore-dropped about Krampus.

- His ugly Christmas sweater was itchy and had bells on it. It quickly got on his nerves, and he later got rid of it... not before taking the bells off though. Spare parts are spare parts!

- Did most of the decorating around the gym and policed anyone who wanted to help decorate the tree. Clearly, he's an expert

- Received his secret santa gift from Bald Bull. He got this adorable "build it yourself" cuckoo clock set and absolutely adored it. (Extra hc that Bald Bull knows wayyy too much about the boxers' personal lives bc he's so quiet and listens in on their secretive conversations).

- His new year resolution was to practice self love more

- Around midnight, when the snow slowed down, he took Joe outside for a little private slow dance behind the gym, out in the snow... they kissed by the end of the hour, by the end of their slow dance ❤️

Disco Kid 🇺🇲 🕺

- "I 👁jUsT wAnT🤲 yOu🫵 FoR 4️⃣mY oWn🤲, MoRe ➕️ThAn YoU 🫵cOuLd EvEr KnOw🧠, MaKe🔨 My WiSh✨️ CoMe TrOoOoO✅️... aLl I wAnT🤲 fOr 4️⃣ChRiStMaS🎄 iS yOuUuU🫵" ....all. night. long. With Aran too.

- Got a cute reindeer sweater from the ref, and wore it all night. Got sad when Kaiser threw out his own sweater.

- Has an entire, 100+ song playlist he made for the party. About 10 of the songs on it were remixes of that one Mariah Carey one he loves so much

- Danced with Aran all-night long, despite Arans lack of rhythm. Got giggly af when Aran kissed him.

- Took a picture of Joe wrapped under the tree. It's now the official WVBA Christmas card.

- Accidentally burnt his tongue drinking the hot chocolate Hondo brought

- Kept in contact with Hondo, Aran, and Tiger as they stole Flamenco out of Brooklyn Heights. Acted as the "mission control" of the Flamenco heist situation

- Recieved his secret santa gift from King Hippo. It was a necklace made of pearls, that were decorated to look like little disco balls. He loved it, weared it all night long... and thanked King Hippo with a big ole hug.

- His new years resolution is to take his career as a boxer a little bit more seriously

King Hippo 🏝 🦛

- Hates the cold sm, he's napping by the heater 90% of the time

- Hondo was nice enough to supply the king with extra hot cocoa

- His sweater sadly didn't fit him

- Loudest teeth chattering in the world

- The boxers who got rid of their sweaters gave them to Hippo for him to use as a blanket... plus the warm hug Hippo got from Disco Kid.

- "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" is considered an offensive song to him and his kin. Disco Kid nearly lost an arm before promptly removing the song from his holiday playlist.

- Recieved his secret santa gift from Soda Popinski. He got a little Hippo plushie! He stimmed and roared a lot from it, so the boxers assumed he was happy. The plushie was pineapple scented too, so it reminded him of home.

- Doesn't know what a new years resolution is, and he didn't make one.

Piston Hondo 🇯🇵🍣

- Cooked most of the non-baked foods for the party, including freshly made hot chocolates... fanciest hot chocolates ever made.

- Gave up his cute penguin sweater to Hippo, despite actually liking the sweater

- Was the designated driver during the "Flamenco Heist" mission... which is good, since none of the other participants could drive that quietly.

- Got pulled over for speeding out of Brooklyn Heights... buuut after getting the ticket and trying to get Aran to stop cursing at the policeman, he eventually transports Don and the boys safely to the party.

- Crashed out under the tree after the heist.

- (Before the heist) recieved his secret santa gift from Glass Joe. He got a cute pusheen cat mug and a christmas card with a handwritten Haiku in it, about what a great friend Hondo is. Needless to say, Hondo was very grateful.

- His new years resolution list is loooong... stuff like "lose weight" and "focus on social life" and "be less selfish"... basically a lot of insecurities he secretly has.

Bear Hugger 🇨🇦🐻

- Got a large tree, fresh from the woods (AND replanted it, because deforestation is bad ✨️)

- Spruce didn't attend the party bc he was hibernating

- Bear recieved a polar bear sweater that was way too small on him, which sucked because he liked it. After Hippo was done using the unused sweaters as a blanket, Bear would later give his sweater to Lomasi, even if it's way too big for her. She loves it though

- Ate most of the food and stole some leftovers for Spruce and Lomasi to snack on. The sugar made him stay up all night

- Wayyyy too invested in the whole Flameco heist story

- Around 3am, he left the party and got his woodland animal friends to steal the remnants of Don's torn coat from a local dump, and he got them all to repair it. Don would be gifted it back on Christmas morning, much to Carmen's shock and surprise.

- Recieved his secret santa gift from Super Macho Man. He got two gifts, an adult bib that pointed to his mouth and read "CPDS: Canada's Pancake Disposal System." and Spruce recieved adorable squirrel sized swimming wings (made by Kaiser, gifted by Macho Man).

- His new years resolution is single handedly stop humans and corporations from hurting the environment.

Great Tiger 🇮🇳🐅

- Typically doesn't celebrate Christmas, but is gonna do so this year just to spend time with his friends and to participate in secret santa. (It's a personal choice if Sikh individuals wish to celebrate Christmas or not, according to my research before writing this).

- Absolutely LOVED his corny ahh ugly Christmas cat sweater, wore it during the Flamenco heist situation

- Re-inacted some of Kaisers' christmas stories using his clones

- When Hondo arrived at Carmen's house that evening, Tiger was in charge of distracting Carmen and her family while Aran snuck Don out of the top window. He and his clones did a (technical) one-man caroling mini spectacular, complete with dancing and a short rap session. Ofc Tiger had to he over the top with it

- Screamed like a girl when Aran gifted him a fake dead rat... luckily, Hondo said "Aran, you shouldn't hurt your own kind" after Aran bursted out laughing

- His new years resolution is to be more self sufficient and depend on his magic less

Don Flamenco 🇪🇸 🥀

- His parents from Spain sent him this gorgeous, satin winter coat with a cute little card. They love him very much, despite how little contact Don has with them (due to Carmen ofc)

- Bro had an entire Cinderella arc. Basically, Don wanted to go to the WVBA Christmas party, but Carmen wanted him to stay home and spend the night with her... even though he's been cooped up at her home since mid-December. She says stuff like "I matter more" and "They're better off without you," using such language to gaslight and manipulate Don into staying with her.

- They got into a fight about it, which resulted in Carmen not only tearing up his new winter coat Don's family from Spain had sent him a few days ago... but she also locks him in her room that night until he "becomes a better boyfriend."

- This pushed him over the edge, and he called out to Disco Kid for help! Luckily, Aran, Hondo and Tiger were able to "kidnap" him away from Carmen's place, and Don was able to spend half the night at the party

- Pretended to like his elf christmas sweater so as not to hurt the refs feelings.

- Also wore it because he hates the cold

- Taking selfies along with Macho Man, without thinking that Carmen might see them and know where he was. Thankfully, Carmen didn't.

- Recieved his secret santa present from Great Tiger. He got an expensive skin care kit that he vows to use daily.

- His new years resolution is to "be a stronger boyfriend" for Carmen.

- Snuck back into Carmen's home around 6am and fell asleep on the couch. Was overjoyed the next morning to see his new coat repaired.

Aran Ryan 🇮🇪 😈

- Tries to dance with Disco Kid to the Christmas tunes, but he's got no rhythm, so it looked kinda awkward but cute at the same time.

- Just so happened to be dancing under a mistletoe a certain German precariously placed for a certain French... but only he noticed.

- Quickly kissed Disco Kid before gesturing to the mistletoe.

- Agreed to help save Don's christmas only because he wanted to break into Carmen's home, plus he has experience climbing up to second floors from the outside.... don't ask how.

- Once he broke in, he promptly placed a spare fake dead rat into Carmen's stocking (that was conveniently in her room) before safely carrying Don out of the window

- Threatened to drop Don multiple times if he didn't shut up about the cold... thankfully, Don was okay.

- Recieved his secret santa gift from Bear Hugger. He got A LUMP OF COAL. He nearly destroyed everything in that gym until he looked deeper into the gift bag... and also saw he got a new leather jacket with a badass Irish blessing on the back of it. Bear laughed his ass off at Arans initial reaction

- Didn't say it out loud, but his new years resolution was to be a better behaved human of society... at least for Disco Kid's sake.

Soda Popinski 🇷🇺🍾

- Casually walked to the gym out in the cold wearing a christmas tank top and apple bottom jeans.

- "Soda it's fucking 21 degrees out"

- "And?"

- Liked his snowman sweater, it was super cute to him. He and Macho Man did sweater selfies together

- Chugging eggnog because no one else wants to drink it. The sugar he got also made him stay up all night

- Got scared by Kaisers krampus story and had nightmares until new years

- Started a snowball fight with Aran early on during the party, which Joe unfortunately became a part of

- Recieved his secret santa gift from Don when he eventually arrived at the party.

- His new years resolution was to keep up his alcohol recovery process

- Didn't go to the Christmas party because he hates parties and doesn't celebrate Christmas. He flew back to Turkey to spend time with his family

- Gave gifts around new years to his many family members

- Didn't get his christmas sweater from the ref, but he wouldn't have liked it anyways

- Left Kaiser his secret santa present by the tree along with a note explaining why he didn't come

- When he came back in early January, he received his secret santa gift from Disco Kid. He got a pair of fluffy bull slippers. He loves them and wears them every morning now.

- His new years resolution was to become more approachable

Super Macho Man 🇺🇸🌊

- Is the one who wrapped up Joe and placed him under the tree

- Didn't like the itchy santa sweater he got (it irritated his artificially tanned skin), but he wore it most of the party because Soda wanted to take selfies with him... and gosh darn it, he won't admit it, but he liked seeing Soda all happy and enjoying himself

- Secretly cuddled with Soda each time he had nightmares about the krampus

- Also got scared by Kaisers story

- "Bro who told you about this fucking creature?!?"

- "Mien grandparents."

- "Ah, who would've guessed."

- Made Christmas thrist traps and posted them alongside Don. They even recreated that one santa scene from Mean Girls with just two people

- Spent Christmas alone, working out

- Recieved a WVBA merch gift card from Mr. Dream, and a ton of fan mail and gifts from his fans

- Spent Christmas night staying comfortable and sleeping peacefully

- His new years resolution is to try and find a hobby outside of boxing

- Spent Christmas with Doc and Peter Punch, away from the Christmas party

- They all pulled an all nighter, watching Christmas movies all night

- Doc managed to pull enough money together to give both of them a plentiful christmas

- Despite being teens, Mac and Peter still both believe in Santa Clause.

- They both got lots of presents on Christmas morning, but their favorite gifts was the gamer tank top meant for Peter, and for Mac, it was this necklace with a picture of Doc and Mac first leaving the orphanage

- Mac's new years resolution is to finish school with passing grades, Peter's resolution is to keep up his appearance, and Doc's resolution is to lose a little bit of weight

ok priest au kinda . got a lot more attention than i expected. so here's a little ref so i can generally keep their designs organized in the future lmao

some design notes:

NAGITO:

this guy is pale as FUCK. almost scarily pale.

the little tufts of hair that fall to the sides of his face... reminiscent of goat ears

while the vestments are simple in color (almost entirely black (actually a very dark green)), they make up for it with interesting shapes and flowing pieces of fabric-- use these to create visual intrigue

the sash rests just above his hips, and ends about 2/3rds of the way down his thighs

his cross sits directly in front of his sternum

the sleeves of his priest outfit come all the way down to his wrists, and the bottom of his robe rests right over his toes

with the exception of his ahoges, komaeda's general silhouette is completely symmetrical. symmetry is holy!

komaeda is someone who appears non-threatening, but still has a frighteningly intimidating aura about him. he will make you want to listen to him, not necessarily out of fear, but out of the respect he seems to passively command. you wouldn't want to disappoint everyone's favorite priest, would you? he's so soft-spoken and kind, "an angel on earth," people call him! you'd hate to see him frown. keep this in mind with posing and facial expression. he is calm, welcoming, and subtly powerful.

i will always give komaeda a halo of some kind. its design may deviate depending on what an individual illustration may demand, but in most drawings it will consist of two concentric circles with lines radiating out from its center. these lines will follow the angle/tilt of komaeda's head- if he tilts his head to the side, the halo "tilts" with him. most of the time, 7 lines will be visible in his halo. 7 is a holy number!

he's taller than in canon partially because i've always headcanoned komaeda as taller, just with a slouch (although priest!maeda has perfect posture) and partially because i like the physical power it gives him over hinata.

komaeda's proportions are thin and spindly-- he's almost frail under the robes. when in doubt, make him Longer.

while not visible in the image. komaeda's shoes are essentially just dress shoes, albiet a little rounder in the toes. i just google "priest shoes" and draw the most modern looking result lmao

HAJIME:

almost always going to be blushing pretty heavily due to shame and Horny-- he blushes with his entire face. it starts in his cheeks, then spreads up his nose and into his forehead and ears. after that, it will go down his neck

hinata has more outfit variation due to just. being Regular Townsfolk. however his standard fit is a wool-lined flannel over a dark t-shirt, with a standard pair of jeans and sneakers. i just let him keep his canon sneakers bc sure whatever :] this au takes place in Tha Midwest so he for sure has heavier clothes for winter and may forgo the wearing the flannel in the summer. he has several colors of flannels, but the one he wears most often is orange with red and yellow stripes (fire!)

hinata's flannels are cuffed-- he flips his sleeves inside out until the wool lining is at the outer edge. he got this habit doing work with his hands-- long sleeves are good protection and cuffing them keeps them out of the way.

that's right i decided farmboy hinata was the best route for this au. this also means he's pretty buff! he grew up doing manual labor. i'm not Very Good at drawing people with a lot of muscle (even under fat) but the only way to learn is thru practice right

unlike komaeda, hinata has a very reserved and nervous demeanor. this is a guy whose every thought is steeped in a deep self-hatred. keep that in mind with his poses and expressions-- he will often try to take up as little space as possible, or flinch away from people. his brow is often furrowed and he is often frowning. despite being physically strong, hinata is emotionally weak, so he carries himself much more tensely than the average person would expect. those who talk to him all seem to like him, but he visibly doesn't like himself. since he's new in town, maybe town gossip will spread about what may have caused him to move here. after all, he seems to have some sort of secret...

hinata's proportions are broad and stocky-- years' worth of farmwork will do that to ya. when in doubt, make him Wider.

both of hinata's eyes are an olive sort of green. i considered making them fully brown but i wanted to connect his colors to komaeda's a little more so they stayed green

I wanted to ask, how do you go about creating character reference sheets?

I have closely studied your oc refs, and observed the timelapse process of one that you have on YouTube, but still can’t seem to grasp how you are able to make your ocs so… natural when in a ref sheet…? (I’m not exactly sure how to explain it, but they just end up looking really neat).

I struggle when making ref sheets. my ocs usually come out wonky in them, but they come out perfectly in anything else.

Then I get unmotivated since my poor blorbos come out weird, and then I leave the piece unfinished.

Oh, and a little extra bit about your ref sheets; I really like your simple, uncluttered backgrounds. And the organization of the text and drawings is very appealing!

Ohhh, that is indeed a question

First of all, I'm flattered, thankyou ;;

Second, I've actually had a love-hate relationship with refs for the longest time, and I still somewhat do. I love doing them because they're fun and I also really enjoy designing layouts, but truth be told, I've had very similar struggles, actually. I can draw my blorbos fine for everything else, but for some reason on reference sheets my characters just never end up looking right!!

Aaaand I think it's honestly as simple as the fact that they are reference sheets. They are the reference of the character, it's meant to be the most accurate, the most them, it needs to be the best representation, so you're probably going to view the references with a way more critical eye than your other art, and possibly go into it being overly perfectionist - and I think that is a big part of the problem. I dunno about you, but for me, as a person who likes to focus on character consistency in art as well, this stuff would drive me up a wall.

You have no idea how many unfinished references I've made over the years (ノへ￣、)

So part of it is honestly, I think, about just letting it go and viewing it as any other art piece. I still struggle with this at times, like my most recent reference of Zac, there are things I think that 'could be better' or that it isn't exactly 'him' but I just need to recognize that whatever, I'm overthinking it, and I can just appreciate what I've made again.

I dunno, maybe I've got this all wrong and this isn't your problem at all, but since I went through a similar struggle that you describe, I thought maybe that might be helpful to you as well.

As for my process however,

I've found that drawing the main image for the reference in a character line up with the correct height helps A LOT because it puts the character in context. It just helps with proportion and being able to see how they look next to other characters.

I use some of those height comparison sites to start and then just screenshot the chart, stick it in CSP and viola. (Mark and Aaron are just silhouettes here cause they're refs aren't public yet lol. Patreon first n' all.)

So yeah, I draw em here and then make a copy of that file to then make the ref.

Besides that though, and just the obvious 'practice makes perfect' thing, I can't think of much else to add.

Just, based on how you described what you're struggling with, especially that in 'every other art piece it turns out fine', it sounds a hell of a lot like a mindset thing. It definitely was for me ^^;

He does things purely out of spite 99% of the time

Someone once told him that wielding his sword backwards was stupid. So now he specifically wields it backwards just to spite them

He's secretly a neat freak but that's mostly because he hates seeing things worn down (because he hates the passage of time)

He cannot stand the smell of vinegar or bleach, he has to physically leave if he smells something overly bitter.

Has the back posture of a shrimp

Hates The Big Light. He either has to live in complete darkness or with Minimal lighting. His room has those plug in Christmas lights because they're dim and cover his whole room

Picks up slang really quickly and uses it correctly

He genuinely loves his brothers and would actually take a bullet for them

Sometimes Loz will hug him and he'll be like "ugh get off" but secretly he enjoys it

Yazoo:

Hyper extended knees

Farmer Arapaima!

When 1.6 came out, I loved the additions to fishing (targeted bait, smoked fish, being able to make legend roe/put them in ponds, the fishing chests, etc etc etc) and fishing has always been my favorite part of the game so.... I created a farmer very centered around fishing! I had also been fixated on River Monsters again, and that added to the fuel.

So, here's a newer addition to Aedaris Farm - Arapaima! This is just a rough ref as I figure out how to draw tattoos and fish. Some fun stuff about him under the cut!

Some Fun Facts

He/Him pronouns, gay, and is around 24 years old.

He gets a new tattoo every year after turning eighteen.

He communicates in sign! He isn't deaf, but he hates speaking and his own voice, grew up with deaf family members and found he much prefers signing over actually speaking, so just uses it to communicate instead. It feels far more natural to him.

Got bitten by a shark on his arm when he was younger and diving with his mom.

Arapaima's not necessarily reserved, but he'll rarely seek out the company of others. He becomes friends with people through convenience of location, most of the time, or if they seek him out first. He very much enjoys the company of others though, even if he doesn't seek it out.

Haaaaaaates the mines. The only reason he goes to them is to fish in the underground lakes. Refuses to step foot in Skull Caverns after hearing about it from the others, and would honestly rather make out with Clint than have to go to any floors beside the lakes.

Very empathetic and will cry if he sees other people cry.

Loves cooking for others but he himself is a picky eater.

Physically affectionate - the few friends he has + the other farmers, he will usually have an arm tossed over a shoulder or waist, is very happy to cuddle with people or act as a human jungle gym for kids, and VERY touchy with his intimate partners. Will give lots of forehead or cheek kisses to whoever allows him to as well.

Tattoos

Arapaima currently has tattoos of the following fish in descending order (designing them pending): Arapaima (neck), Red bellied piranha, Alligator gar, Glyphis shark, Bluntnose sixgill shark, Goliath grouper

Along the rest of his arm, he wants tattoos of: Stonefish (irl one, not the sdv one), Wolffish, Payara, Goblin shark, Northern snakehead

Along his back, he wants tattoos of the Legendary Fish

Relationships

Arapaima lives on the farm with the others - how did he join them? Sour Patch dragged him along, moving to Pelican Town was the day he met Aster and Kali.

Very quickly became friends with Aster, bonding over their love of fishing.

Kali he grew closer to over a much longer time, but are practically inseparable once they are friends (unless Kali goes to the mines).

He and Sour Patch had a fwb relationship in their late high school and Sour Patch's early college years, the sex fizzled out over time but they still kept up their friendship.

In the valley, he adopts a little black kitten and names it Sareng. She's very cuddly and loves curling up on Arapaima's shoulders. She'll accompany him fishing sometimes.

To no one's surprise he becomes best friends with Willy almost instantly, and you can usually find him wherever Willy is if he's not with one of the other farmers. When he goes to the saloon, he will sit with Willy most of the time and they'll talk about their catches or they'll share embarrassing/funny fishing stories.

Became closer friends with Marnie after finding out about her and Lewis' relationship, and has a really strong relatability to her situation with him. Tries far more gently than the other farmers to get her to ditch Lewis because of this.

Befriended Vincent accidentally - the kid started seeking him out after discovering Arapaima usually had live worms or bugs with him (for fishing, but still) and encouraged Vincent's antics because it was a form of exploration. Now Arapaima tries to make time specifically to hang out with Vincent, and is starting to teach him how to fish.

Alex, he fell for very accidentally but very hard. It was a slow process mostly because they couldn't communicate very well when they first met (Arapaima signing, Alex didn't know sign, Arapaima wasn't going to spend a bunch of time writing what he wanted to say when he could be doing something else, and so they just barely interacted). They ran into each other constantly though in the summer, and Alex began picking up sign/started learning it on his own terms. On slow summer days he'd teach Alex sign.

Arapaima doesn't really realize he's slowly fallen for Alex until Alex's 8-heart event, when it hits him hard just how much he cares for him, seeing Alex crying over his mother's death, and wanting nothing more than to ease his pain in some way, but he has no idea how.

Next is Depth! He is dark Sky. (He gets his own special dramatic portrait—the perspective mostly works? Idk I need to practice and find some good refs for this sort of thing.) So much rambling about him and his design under the cut.

Masterpost

The most striking thing about Depth is how normal he looks. Disregarding a few odd features, he looks like Just Some Guy, at least until he opens his mouth. He occasionally feigns being mute around others so he can keep the charade of being human up for longer, since his voice sounds truly awful. Depth is paler than Sky with much darker hair and orange-red eyes, but is otherwise identical. He doesn't mind that, and chooses to play it up a bit with very similar clothes, too. His tunic is rust-colored, opposite Sky’s spring green, and his chainmail is pointed and jagged on the ends instead of smooth. He wears a purple sash with more angular designs and lines, which matches the purple charm that keeps his cape on. 

Depth’s sailcloth is both a source of pride and a sore spot. He made it to contrast Sky’s, dark and tattered, but one of his very secret desires is to get one as beautiful as Sky’s, made by Sun, maybe dark, but functional and lovely and a reminder of her. 

See, Depth doesn't understand Sun—he doesn't actually know her, though he has memories from Sky. He wants her to be a damsel in distress that he can rescue, he dreams of her choosing him over his Light, but he doesn't realize that she won't. He loves his idea of her. While Depth follows [insert LU bad guy here]’s directives, he makes his own plans and he has his own agendas, and many of those plans aid him, in some way, to win Sun’s affection. 

However, as Depth has been growing into the leader role, he's starting to become attached to the other Darks. He's annoyed by them, but his plans have started to expand to benefit them in a way that doesn't necessarily benefit him, too. He might have a little altruism in him, after all. 

Despite that, unfortunately, Depth remains someone who would not save the world, but someone who intends to damn it over and over again. He doesn't flinch at the thought of Demise’s curse, in fact, he would welcome it. He likes the idea of having a purpose and a destiny. He wants to coddle the few people he cares about and would set everything on fire to do it. He says he loves Sun more than Sky ever could, but he would lock her away to keep her "safe."

Depth is the de facto leader of the group, since he's driven and has ambition. He has a very strict idea of what the other Darks should be doing and gets upset when they don't do it. He hates being touched and is ruthlessly practical. Once, when Nothing was being particularly annoying and tried to steal Depth’s sailcloth, Depth broke at least one of Nothing's fingers. He hasn't gotten close to injuring someone like that again, due to equal parts nobody bothering him like that again and him trying to be a little gentler. He doesn't hesitate to threaten injury to keep order, though. 

Depth knows about Ghirahim as a sword, and wants to wield it, but is under the impression that he needs to prove himself worthy first. (Whether or not [LU bad guy] actually intends to let him use it is a different story.) Depth is one of the more skilled sword fighters among the Darks, remembering formal training, but his sword isn't anything special. In a fight with Sky, they would be evenly matched if it weren't for Sky’s ability to use a Skyward Strike, and Depth's inability to block that much light. 

Depth’s special ability is his voice. In a mundane way, the others try to not make him use it, because it's almost painful to hear. In a magical way, Depth’s voice carries over long distances. When he sings, he can summon creatures like bats, crows, rats, and snakes, and they'll listen to him for a time. When he screams, his voice is a magical, short-range wave of destruction. Yes, he's an evil Disney Princess. Depth doesn't feel any strong affinity for the animals he attracts, but he doesn't let Dire or anyone else hurt them, and he doesn't send them to their deaths. He mostly uses them as spies and distractions. 

Depth is one of the more dangerous members of the Dark Chain—not because he’s physically imposing or particularly powerful, but because he can see beyond the next mission and is determined to ruin the Lights once and for all. He's one of those who would happily kill his Light—but only after Depth shows him how he has lost everything dear to him.

loves fighting and fights the other followers for fun (they dont understand that people are often afraid of them because of this) the random assaults stopped happening after the lamb figured out how to get the fight pit though despite being so warrior brained they dont actually like killing others and is one of the few followers who wont be upset if the loser in the fight pit is spared they handmade their gloves just to prevent themself from injuring their hands when punching followers with tougher skin/scales/etc thats a scar not a mouth and their mouth shaped scar also freaks people out because it makes them look like theyre doing an ominous smile constantly

extremely religious and mostly does prayers she didnt know how to go about it very well at first though since the cult was extremely new at that point unintentionally inspired a lot of worshiping customs in the cult due to improvising stuff half the time doesnt like making requests but asked the lamb to retrieve the soul of her long dead sister in anchordeep once because of a dream she had

jularna

the lambs first follower they dont remember much about life before the cult due to how long its been (they dont even remember their original species beyond mammal) also the first dissenter because they got mad that the lamb bowed to heket (there were no prisons at that point so they were sacrificed and later revived) they died again after a failed mission attempt and temporarily became a coward (but fortunately they fully got over their negative feelings towards ritual sacrifice because of this)

manaon

very blunt astrologist who is practically married to its job is attempting to teach people about science but sucks at explaining things very badly mostly kept around because admittedly the lamb is curious about the stars (mostly for superstitious and god related reasons)

noantre

used to be a bodybuilder in his youth but is now a fairly relaxed mentor to grebre still a bit of a hothead though only joined the cult to have a place to be buried but now wants to live out as much of his remaining life as possible due to newfound motivation over things he never really got to do before

very egotistical and greedy (partially due to having been friends with midas in the past) used to have a high social status before the old faith destroyed his home for not worshiping any of them this led to him being secretly insecure about appearing faithful enough to the lamb acts like a snooty "high school clique mean girl" type of person even after he goes on a whole thing about proving himself a worthy disciple much later on does the high priestess laugh a lot

hes very sickly and quiet but tries to help out anyways mostly just helps out with harvesting the easier crops and worship stuff witness agares is in love with him and eligos considers him as a brother overly concerned with appearing useless despite doing way more than a lot of the more ablebodied followers

theyre a him/thembo who talks like a surfer dude and mostly hangs out by the beach to go swimming during his freetime thats it thats the personality/lore this is mostly a bit character

basically what happens when you have someone who acts like a stereotypical fairytale princess in cult of the lamb a lot of people are suspicious of her because of how absurdly nice she is but shes just like that shell even be nice to you if you try to frame her as a spy and get her killed (*cough*webber*cough*) putyno can be pretty defensive towards anyone who messes with her flower garden though because of how deeply it upsets her

thorar

theyre the child of a worm and a deer thorar was never really sure what to do with their life but when they hyperfixate on something they tend to study it in extreme depth so without realizing it they essentially became a scholar horrendous fashion sense and often gets mistaken for a giraffe by people not really aware of how full on hybrids happen in this specific cult sometimes (going with the canon one species or the other thing being the norm outside of it)

thorty was originally a different species but the lamb felt like trying out the twitch bunny form on someone new they think it looks cute on her but she thinks its "ugly and kiddy" shes overly concerned with appearing mature and had a kid (anar) she wasnt prepared for because of it now shes just too tired all the time even with the lambs help with her kid (they felt kinda bad at that point)

tremer

tremer was brought in during the time where the lamb had to sacrifice followers to regain access to certain areas no one liked her because shes a jerk and she punched the lamb in the face but since the lamb specifically only needed a level x follower at that point they were essentially forced to pamper her until then unbeknownst to everyone she actually came from the goats cult and got here by accident during a mission it doesnt matter anymore though because she got fed to a door

tremer told the lamb to bring in a dissenter (specifically to pick on) even after tremer got sacrificed to a door tyjular was still pretty spiteful over repeatedly getting locked up and how tremer was treated in spite of her behavior but hes too shy and self conscious to consider doing anything aside from being overtly formal with his leader

He's basically the "king" of the end, even though he's not actually the ruler, it was his wife. But since she's GONE he basically had to take her place, until he finds a new wife or convinces her to come back if he ever found her (the end is a matriarchy)

He has two kids, Lune (pronounced like loon) and Sunny. He LOVES his kids and is actually a really great dad despite being kind of an ass and fucking annoying. He misses them a lot and it breaks his heart that he might not be able to see them ever again

Dr. Malpractice

He's a geneticist specifically experimenting with mob/human hybrids.

His experiments are NOT ETHICAL AT ALL!!! He does whatever tf he wants whenever he wants. His only healthy, surviving test subjects are Phil (enderman), Tommy (spider), Charlie (creeper) and Quackity (duck). (He also experiments on my sona,, that I added for funsies,, but they weren't created by him he just happened to find them one day more on that later)

He's actually trying to make humans more powerful in a way, because they're the weakest humanoid species of them all. He wants to "save" humanity from their own biological inferiority and doesn't care how long it takes or how much damage he causes to others so long as he reaches his goal. Because he's fucking delusional and thinks he's doing something good

He even experimented on his kid, Fundy, and he didn't make it. He has a,,, complicated relationship with what happened to Fundy. On one hand the guilt eats away at him constantly, on the other he brushes it off as just another failed experiment since in the long run,, the ends justify the means in his mind

So far his deceased test subjects include Fundy, Niki, George, and Toby (Tubbo). His only escaped subject was Randy (Ranboo) and he's so fucking paranoid that somehow he'd be able to get the authorities to stop his experiments. But it's been months since Ran escaped and nothing's happened so he isn't AS paranoid anymore, but he still worries about it

He names all the test subjects himself, it's easier for him to remember than numbers because he has dyscalculia funnily enough

All the test subjects were made in his lab with stolen DNA so he didn't have to use his own. He basically grew them in tubes and used a rapid growth serum in the tanks to make everyone adult sized since it was easier to run tests that way. He accidentally left Phil cookin for too long so he's the oldest out of everyone LMAO (except for Dr mal himself, he's 37)

Ok so onto the cringe part !!!! cSoda is a shapeshifter, shapeshifters are VERY rare and often hide themselves because they're very sought after to hunt for sport or used for various reasons. They're basically "born" from the planet itself, they grow in pockets underground for many years and kinda just pop up when they're ready. (Think of like. Steven Universe gems but organic) cSoda is erm undercooked let's say LMAO because they popped up early in their development they're basically defective. They age (albeit slowly), their body scars, they can't regrow limbs properly, their shapeshifting is limited to only animals/people they've SEEN before and they are incredibly naive and have a harder time understanding/learning about the world.

Dr. Mal found cSoda (no idea how yet) and he normally wouldn't have cared but he saw their shapeshifting and immediately decided to "take them in". He takes advantage of their naivety and basically brainwashed them into thinking he cares for them. cSoda presents as a dog (more lore I don't feel like getting into rn) so they have the personality traits of one as well, very loyal and loving and INCREDIBLY affectionate. Which Dr Mal HATES.

If it weren't for the fact that cSoda is more useful to him while alive he probably would've just killed them because he's CONSTANTLY annoyed and irritated by them LMAO he wants to be able to replicate their shapeshifting and hopes that it might be able to help him achieve his goal

c!Wilbur

He fucking LOVES working the burger van with Ranboo, it gives him something to do and he actually enjoys spending time with them even after initially not really liking them. He thinks Ranboo is SO interesting and loves to analyze everything he says and does pFF

HE FUCKING. APOLOGIZED TO TOMMY!!!!! FOR EVERYTHING !!! HE WANTS TO DO AND BE BETTER FOR HIM AND HAVE A BETTER RELATIONSHIP!!!! HE LOVES HIS BROTHER SO MUCH AND IS TRYING TO BE BETTER AT SHOWING THAT RAAHH

He fucking REEKS no matter how much he showers or uses deodorant. It'll help with the intensity of the smell but he just reeks of death bc he was rotting !!!! he also smells like cigarettes and alcohol which does mask the rot and is actually preferable by most people (especially Quackity, who's VERY vocal about how much Wilbur stinks)

Tinybur

He's REALLY clingy, like he NEEDS someone to be holding him at all times. Normally it's Tommy (who's so obviously his favorite even tho he denies it)

It doesn't remember being human for the most part but he does miss it, especially being a normal height

He HATES when people baby him, he's a grown man who just happens to be child sized. If you talk down to him he WILL be an asshole

It was surprised when people started referring to him as an "it" but he kinda liked it !! It doesn't have the same feelings about its gender since becoming a doll and he thinks it's kinda weird but cool at the same time. It really is just vibin

It's voice is high pitched and he kinda hates it, its gotten used to it but it doesnt really like how its voice changed

Animatronic!Wilbur

He's so fucking annoying and is always flirting with parents for whatever reason. He fucking LOVES if they get flustered too it boosts his ego

He's SOO jealous of Ranboo its kind of embarrassing. He thinks he should be the lead singer and mascot but doesn't vocalize it, although he does make it painfully obvious

He's the lead guitarist and back up vocalist in the band (Tommy plays keytar, Ranboo is lead singer and James is the bassist)

He's actually really fucking insecure despite being a fan favorite. One time someone left their phone and it didn't have a password so he was able to use the internet which was. A mistake. He's seen the horrors of the Beloved Ent. Fandom and he thinks people only like him because he was made to be the "attractive one" and not because he actually has anything of substance.

He fucking HATES Schlatt with a passion, so he avoids the bowling alley entirely now. Jimmy (solidarity) used to be the bowling mascot but he was too fragile and a push over with guests so they replaced him with Schlatt. Who's nice enough to guests but does have a bit of a temper and doesn't take ANYONES bullshit. Wilbur was actually really close with Jimmy and he misses him terribly :(

Born in 1972, birthday undecided for now.

She had a dog when she was younger (a gift from a relative that couldn’t keep it anymore.) Her parents absolutely were not prepared for the dog and were glad to get rid of it. Veronica was absolutely devastated to see the dog go, so as a compromise they got a cat believing it was an “easier pet.” And thus, JFK the cat.

JFK fucking hates JD btw. bro does not wanna be in the same room as him.

She has a younger sister named Melanie. Melanie is in freshman year currently. Veronica used to pull older sibling pranks on Melanie when they were younger, like making up random shit to scare her.

Younger side of her family, lots of older cousins.

As a kid, Veronica wanted to be a writer. She wrote a lot of stories which included diary entries for her characters. She didn’t want her characters to have the same hand writing as her, so thus began her quest to learn forgery.

During middle school she fell towards the bottom of the social ladder for being a FUCKING NERD (and a nobody). Veronica took this as a sign to dive deeper into her studies instead of trying to branch out with friends. By the start of high school, Martha was her only friend. She badly wished to be among the more popular kids because their lives were more enticing than the one she lived currently. Come junior year, she gave up on the chance of that ever happening and anticipated for her graduation. When the Heathers let her join, it came as a compete surprise.

She picked up the habit of smoking and doing drugs/weed at parties shortly after becoming a Heather. This causes her brain to develop schizophrenia in her late teens and not early twenties.

heather chandler: Frenemies. She can stand it when Chandler is bitchy towards her but not when she’s picking on people outside their group. At first she didn’t care about anything that happened to her, but deep inside she feels guilty and worried about Chandler, but can’t pinpoint why.

The following paragraphs include talks of schizophrenia and the symptoms it brings-

Veronica (in this rp) suffers from hebephrenia, a subtype of schizophrenia. One difference is that hebephrenia also takes form of disorganised speech, which affects Veronica’s character. For the past month, she’s been slowly spiralling.

-Lack of motivation to see friends. She stops checking in on them daily. (alogia, which basically is her lack of motivation to speak. she rarely speaks unless spoken to)

-Doesn’t leave her house for much other than school. Bedroom lights are off most of the time, because she doesn’t feel like letting JD know she’s home either. Veronica feels like she’s a bad partner internally because of this.

-Difficulty remembering or focusing on class material. This is also because of her lack of sleep. Her lack of sleep also creates a loop where basically: cant get much sleep -> symptoms worsen -> can’t sleep because she’s going insane -> symptoms get even worse.

-Misses social cues or laughs in inappropriate situations

-Self care decline. Bare rock bottom minimum aah. She doesn’t have motivation to look after her looks either. Girl pls take a shower. Greasy hair smtimes, eyebags, long unkempt nails. Tries to cover it up with makeup rip, feel free to comment on this if ur interacting with Veronica

-Growing suspicions. Doesn’t show it but she’s suspicious of what others say to her. Subconsciously she feels like everyone’s in on something she’s not apart of. people only wanted me because I was hot and smart, everyone is extremely disappointed in my state now and their all hiding it.

-Despite that, she struggles to express those emotions, so she appears emotionless a lot (affective flattening),

No matter how much someone tries to convince Veronica it’s not real, she has a difficult time believing them especially when she’s currently experiencing it. She can’t be talked out of delusions either because it feels like knowledge to her.

-When Veronica experiences positive symptoms around her parents, they try to convince her it’s not real because they don’t really know how to comfort her. (yo girl aah aah)

-Grandeur delusions. I’ll come back to this when I have an idea for one. Probably thinks her relationship with JD features divine intervention and that’s what gives her life purpose

Do you have any original characters for TWST?

(As a preface I do have another OC I ship with Chenya, Beau Rhodes, but… I haven’t done much with him besides conceptualizing him. Maybe I should do more since I don’t talk about it enough but TreyRid really really is my romantic canonxcanon TWST OTP and I love it desperately even if I never talk about it. I’ve also been fucking around lately with middle freak Ortho having a form he can use on the surface but ehhh that’s not really an OC thing.)

Ok here it is… The #yumeshit lore post. I actually wanna start getting into like the yume community on BlueSky or something because it has a lot more male yumes than tumb (or rather twit does but my main is a permalocked personal and they’re all slowly but surely jumping ship to BlueSky LMAO), so I might as well explain The Lore in detail. 

As a preface I spend a LOT more time thinking about them when they’re older, because 1) self actualization and 2) why would I EVER want to willingly think about being a teenager again. I literally describe high school as “a haze of undiagnosed mental illness, and also drama club”. no thanx. It’s just not like… too lore noteworthy vs the stuff that actually happens in canon lol.  Here’s what they look like as adults. I’ve mentioned working on a Shrouds piece that took 2 months I finally finished last week, and this is it:

also feel like I should say… Trix’s views on Rook don’t reflect mine LMAO. I have mixed feelings on Rook, but overall my feelings lean positive towards him. He’s a total freak and it’s funny as fuck and I love it. So if you like him don’t try to take the dynamic too personally, it’s the way it is for a laff more than anything.

Beatrice “Trixie” “Trix” Hart is a catch all self insert of mine; mostly for platonic yume. (She was made as a self insert assistant for Klavier Gavin, hence the name, and is also platonic with syl(gags) sylv(throws up in my mouth a little) Sylvain Jose Gautier. If you wanna know about those you can ask ig, I don’t have a ref for 3H Beatrice but I did draw AA Trixie when I came up with her.) She started out as a girl (and I still view her as such in those universes) but for TWST he’s specifically a guy because. Well. This game made me realize I was a transhet man and especially yume helped me sort that out along with being st4t exclusive LOL

Trix is a Pomefiore second year bnuuy beastman from the Shaftlands, Class C (same class as Azul and Jamil). It just kind of really conveniently worked out that my sonas usually have upright brown bnuuy years like the Snow White bunnies and I’m so artistic Pomefiore was the only dorm that makes sense LOL. His Book 7 cameo on Rook’s shelf…

He’s in Film Research Club, and is unique because he joined specifically for crew work, not acting. He’s very extroverted in club and with people he’s close to, but he can be surprisingly introverted when he’s not comfortable. (Ambivert moment). He specializes in practical magic with his sewing and art, and Hates PE. (He likes flying, though.)

His unique magic is My Sweet Heart, which lets him see memories and emotions from people if he grasps their right hand and puts his hand over their heart. 

Caycay is his Number One BFF. I don’t know how they met his first year, but it was basically an immediate click (#trans recognizes #trans. #real #recognizes #real.). Trix walks to class with him every morning, and they frequently go to cafe collabs on the weekend and after class, being sure to leave some of their food out of their magicam posts lest they earn the wrath of their wardens LMAO. If Trix needs someone, Caycay is There for him.

Him and Vil are also VERY close. During his first year, there was an incident that lead to him being roommates with Vil, despite her being a second year and him being first. Trix Really does not like to talk about it, and while Vil would be fine telling people, she doesn’t out of respect for him. She also appreciates someone around club that’s enthusiastic about crew work, and tends to let him lead costume and prop work.

It’s Very clear he has a huge crush on her and that she doesn’t reciprocate. Sometimes she might throw him a bone and give him a little extra praise though LMAO. They do have a very bad fight toward the end of Vil’s third year though, and they go years without talking after. 

His closeness with Vil leaves him some leverage for defending Epel. (#nonpassing recognizes #nonpassing. #real recognizes #real.) It’s mostly in vain, though, but Epel appreciates being looked out for a LOT. Especially because, despite how artistic and fashionable Trix is, his personality is MUCH more down to earth than other Pomefiore students. He’s the biggest advocate for Epel transferring to Savanaclaw his second year and someone who Epel confides a lot into.

Rook’s nickname for him is Monsieur Lapin (Floyd’s is Sea Bunny. Floyd doesn’t come up so I figure I might as well say it heh.). He hates Rook. He thinks Rook is a freak. Especially as a beastman he thinks Rook is super fucking weird. Rook loves Trix’s artwork and his personal journey with beauty and adores him a lot as his beloved underclassman. He knows Trix hates him. He doesn’t care. Trix hates him So Much.

He doesn’t know Ortho much minus the guy who sits next to Caycay’s companion pre Book 6, but once Ortho joins Film Research Trix gets attached REALLY fast. He’s always wanted a younger sibling so he dotes on Ortho constantly, and they rec each other anime and games all the time. (Trix gets him into Professor Layton and he LOVES it.) He learns… a lot about Idia and Ortho’s relationship through this.

Lilia also got asked to tutor him for history once because Trix can’t do homework For Shit and needs help finishing assignments despite his test scores. This backfires because they don’t get anything done ever, but most importantly for The Lore they trade socials and thus Trix is friends with Muscle Red and knows who he is.

Ok. Now the meat of it. The #yumeshit. 

I think it’s probably obvious, but Trix is a nonpassing trans guy. NRC being an all boys school makes him feel safer, but… when he’s not at NRC, even if it’s just in the foothill town, he girlmodes. Being misgendered hurts a lot less that way. (No this is not projecting. Just kidding it is. Please help me.)

As a way of getting respite from this, he VTubes as a magical boy with a voice changer. I don’t have a proper ref but his sona is like the best design I’ve ever done and I’m lowkey mad about it. Anyways. While his interests aren’t really a secret irl it’s always kind of surprising when someone that doesn’t know him finds out he’s into nerdy things, but he gets REALLY invested in the games he’s playing and he has A Lot of info and interpretations to share. And despite his bright design, he gets most excited from horror. He’s not a huge indie by any means but he has a solid following. 

And when Muscle Red sees there’s a well known horror game Gloomurai likes on the docket, well, he HAS to invite them to watch his friend with him! They’ve been telling him how their favorite speedrunner retired and they need someone new to watch, anyways. 

Idia’s very pensive at first, seeing such a bright and sparkly character playing Resident Evil 7, a horror game with a very disgusting atmosphere and themes to match. Probably going to overreact to everything and pretend to be super scared and upset to look cute for views. But he’s watching with Muscle Red, and he wouldn’t make her watch something cringey like that, would he…?

As the game starts up, he starts gushing about what an amazing atmosphere the game has. The entire thing is filthy, and that leads to an overwhelming feeling of dread and disgust- even moreso with the family. His eyes light up when he points out an early scene is referencing The Blair Witch Project.

When it comes to things outside of gameplay itself, he really knows his stuff. Despite how mad him dying for the hundredth time on an extremely easy stealth section makes her, it’s nice to see such a passionate horror otaku. She almost doesn’t mind it because she likes listening to him talk. (Almost.)

Idia starts watching him with Muscle Red regularly. She’s too shy to talk in chat, so she just gives a lot of questionably large donos when he does things. 

He gives a lot of half joking “thank you for funding my doll collection” responses at first, but then says Gloom should chat if they’re comfortable. He’d love to get to know someone who is giving him all this money, and they’re considered a legend in chat for it. She’s nervous (she has no idea why), but she does slowly start chatting and attaching messages to her donos. Soon, she’s a regular in the chat and community. 

So active, in fact, she finds herself with a dm asking for her discord one day. A message follows shortly after about how he appreciates her involvement and wants to get to know her better- now that she’s more talkative, he thinks she’s really funny. 

From there starts a quickly blooming online friendship. They talk whenever they get the chance, though he strictly has to go to bed early or he’ll get chewed out by his housewarden. (A female housewarden…? Is he even forced into the girl dorms at his school?) Idia’s never forthcoming with private info, though, and he seems pretty hesitant with how feminine he is irl to give much past vague detail, either. 

Meanwhile, Trix has to be incredibly careful when lights out and Rook makes the rounds with how late he’s staying up. He is the number one person Trix would rather Die than see his conversation history when confiscating his phone. Gloom’s rude but funny and he loves hearing about X Obscure Game Yaoi Ship. (Sometimes he becomes a casual fan of the series and ship in question- he has been commissioned a LOT to draw her Star Rogue OTP by her.) (He also gets converted to Luisley probably.)

Offline, though, Idia and Trix’s relationship is… awkward. One time during remedial gym lessons when both of them had to run laps in his first year, Trix started complaining about missing club and how he needed to fix his make up, and Idia, being Idia, made a really snide comment about it. Trix snapped at her, and while to him it was just having a bad day, Idia… never really recovered from it. 

In the next year her only exposure was daily convos that were way too peppy for so early in the morning with the extrovert that sat next to her. (I’ve always hced Idia and Caycay sit next to each other in class and straight up forget this isn’t actually canon on a regular basis.) At some point, he started taking curious glances at Idia, which didn’t help at all.

Trix starts getting suspicions about Idia from the few times he does hear her talk, and how similar it sounds. Has he met her before…? But surely he would remember knowing someone as distinctive as Idia, right? 

He has absolutely zero involvement in Book 6 also. With everything going on (because their vice warden ROOK LITERALLY LEFT WITH NO WARNING OR BACKUP PLAN, BECAUSE OF COURSE HE DID, HE IS THE WORST PERSON ALIVE WHO HAS EVER BEEN BORN), him and his roommate end up being the ones to take charge and keep Pomefiore in order. I feel like with Idia yumes in particular Book 6 is a Big Thing because like, Book 6, so I feel like this is important info.

(He IS in Book 7 though. His dream is in between Epel and Rook’s. It’s about being amab :’( He doesn’t take waking up and being back in his actual body well.)

Her and Ortho coming back clear any doubts in his mind: Gloom suddenly leaving on the night of the incident, with zero word since, only to long back on with a “sry, irl stuff happened,” the day after the Shrouds come back? She’s Gloom. Especially getting to know Ortho in club and listening to him talk about her, there is literally no other option. 

He was planning on confronting her about it… then Book 7 happened. Obviously how it ends could change this, but for now once everything’s settled Idia gets a discord notif saying he has to talk to her, and he wants to in person. She tries to say it would be too hard to arrange, only to get a simple response: “Ignihyde Lounge. One hour. You’ll know when you see me.”

She is, unsurprisingly, horrified. How did he figure out? Does he hate her now that he knows she’s a freak? Is he coming to tell her how he can’t believe he befriended someone so pathetic? He’s going to tell everyone all the things she said in confidence. “Lol, you guys thought Shroud was a freak before? Get a load of this!”

Luckily, Trix told Ortho about it. He’s able to coax Idia out and helps her to the dorm lounge, holding her hand along the way. 

And indeed, the one Pomefiore uniform in Ignihyde’s dorm lounge sticks out like a sore thumb. Her heart rate explodes. He’s who she’s been talking to this entire time?! No. No. Absolutely no way. She’s not doing this. She tries to turn and run away, but her brother’s death grip (why did she give him all that strength?) keeps her in place.

He looks around awkwardly as he walks up. “Hey, uh… sorry about that time I snapped at you. Ortho told me it really freaked you out.” Trying to calm her down would hopefully make this easier.. “Do… you want to go somewhere more private? You’re even paler than normal.”

Yes. I do. Alone. And I want to forget this even happened. Unfortunately for her, the look on her bother’s face told her it was a mandatory quest. Defeated, she leads him back to her room. 

He sits uncomfortably stiff on her bed. Idia hides in her chair, turned away from him. He tells her that he doesn’t hate her, that he doesn’t think she’s pathetic. No response. Luckily, he invited Ortho for backup. 

“He really wants to be your friend, Idia! He’s the still same person you’ve been talking to online. And he’s really nice. He’s the one who recommended those games to me!”

Taking a cue on how exhausted she is mentally, Trix gets up and walks to the door. “Just… think about it, okay?”

Think about what? The fact that this person she got close to was actually a loud extrovert who hung around a bunch of normies? That he knows all of the rumors about her? Forget real life- he could go online and tell everyone what a freak Gloomurai was irl, too. 

They don’t talk anywhere for like a week and Trix doesn’t walk to class with Caycay, but then they do talk it out. It’s really hard and REALLY scary for Idia, but she’s able to accept him into her life as a friend. He ends up being a really big pillar of stability for her, and he already knows about her own transness and boymoding which makes him even safer.

And… that’s how they are to the end of her third year! Friends. And really, not looking for anything past that. 

Idia gets a really REALLY nice condo in the Kingdom of Heroes for her internship. (Which she mostly even only uses the upper half of. Smfh) She also gets two cats; a white one, Clear, and a gray one, Ryoji. I’m sure you can guess who they’re named after. Reminder that Idia is canonically a fujoshi. Anyways.

Trix visits during school breaks with Ortho… he also stays in Ortho’s room with him while he’s there. For the most part it’s a lot of just comfy stuff like gaming and watching movies, Ortho taking Trix out to see things and such. Over Winter break while visiting Trix edits one of the Film Research pieces for the culture fair bc he’s club president now… By the time of said fair with 4th years presentations it’s very obvious to like Everyone how they feel. (And they probably know it themselves but try to ignore it because neither feels ready for a relationship).

A really REALLY big point worth noting during this time period (and this is all I’ll say bc I know it’s a difficult topic) is that they see each others cutting scars for the first time. They never really comment on or talk about it, but there’s a wordless understanding and comfort between them afterwards. 

Idia’s staying on the surface for at least a few years to see if researching with Olympos resources can give any new perspectives on blot or her curse. If Trix wants to stay for his internship, there’s plenty of room. She doesn’t admit it, but she really wants him to stay. Unfortunately, though, he’s always been interested in the Queendom of Roses and opts for an editing internship with a publisher there.

It’s more of the same; he visits her more regularly because he’s not limited to NRC’s schedule, and he still streams and she still watches and talks to him. He also adopts Chunky who LIVES FOREVER AND NEVER DIES, EVER. There’s an undeniable closeness between them but neither are still ready to actually act, even if it’s clear they may as well already be together lol. 

During this time she also starts getting him transformation potions to help with dysphoria from STYX while he transitions.

After his internship, he’s able to get a job at the Kingdom of Heroes office of the publisher he interned for. He may or may not have chosen to transfer on purpose- there’s plenty of space there, anyways, so much so he can have his own room big enough to both sleep and work in. Ortho’s out on his own acting internship with Vil’s agency, so for the most part it’s just them and their cats in this huge place lmao. It’s really easy to coexist because there’s space when they need it and Idia’s like entire gamer zone on the upper level when they wanna do stuff together. It works out really well.

There are a whole bunch of headcanons of mine about STYX and the Shrouds and their relationships that I’m not really comfortable going into. However, when they overblotted together, Idia and Ortho did something… really traumatic unrelated to Middle Freak Ortho’s death that Idia blames herself for. She still has regular nightmares about it, and while Trix usually isn’t around from the breakdowns because he’s in his room when they happen, this time he fell asleep upstairs and heard all of it.

He goes in to check on her, and she’s really closed off. He’s eventually able to get her to tell him what happened and her guilt, but… He already knew. Ortho told him years ago when they were all still at NRC. He was waiting for her to tell him on her own terms.

Idia does uhh not take this being hidden from her well! He rationalizes that knowing it and never judging her and standing by her side this entire time means he truly does care and doesn’t blame her. He holds her hand and for the first time says it:

“I love you.”

Idia looks at him wide eyed for a second before turning away.

“You need to leave.”

He’s allowed to stay- she’s not going to just throw him on the street- but he is not allowed upstairs near her. She needs time to process everything. Especially how he hurt her trust. 

Eventually they are able to talk it out though and end up in a relationship. YIPEE!!!!!! Ortho moves in permanently around this time with his internship over with his 2 dogs to add to the family. :)

There’s a lot of stuff with STYX and Woe I haven’t fuuuuuully sorted out the details of, but Idia does eventually have to go back for a while to put her research to use and put an end to things. I think this period is really tough because she does Not want Trix to see what a horrible place it is and how it’s the source of so many awful things it was so she tries to leave him. She doesn’t obv and she’s able to successfully find a solution to the Phantom problem.

Once she’s back, though, she does have a near immediate breakdown- with it all over, her brain can actually like. Process what her life was up to that point and she just kind of snaps. She ends up hospitalized for a few months to keep her safe from a HORRIFIC schizophrenic break. Trix uses STYX Bux for a place to stay so he can visit her near daily and help her through it. There’s also a REALLY bad incident with Ortho.

Minus that though from there it’s… really just them being happy, healing, and transitioning with each other. Idia becomes an indie game dev and Trix becomes a horror writer. He still streams (she started vtubing somewhere along the way too), but they’ve never publicly posted about their relationship. It’s really funny because it’s like blatant but they just try to act like it isn’t LMAO.

As they get older, they move to a small, quiet place in the Queendom of Roses. They have 3 kids (who I also have ocs for but that’s WAY too cringe) who are very well loved. Ortho also lives with them and they have a very happy family. :)

Cyrus had an awkward anime phase when he was in middle school, he’s just thankful there’s no photos of him during that lime so that way Lucien can’t find them and ask about it

When they were still getting to know each other, Dante would pretty much stalk Faust’s socials just to see more of him. He won’t admit it but he still feels embarrassed because he knows how creepy and weird it was, Faust has no idea and Dante doesn’t want him to think he’s creepy so he just has to pray he never somehow finds out he did that

Rina and Dante are like bffs and “playfully” shit talk each other whenever they meet up

In HS, Amari once got into an argument with someone who was making fun of Charlie and ended up simply throwing a desk at said person, she was suspended for 2 weeks and Charlie was dying from guilt

Rina has a ragdoll Siamese cat named Nyxey (Nix-ey)

Ryuko has a part-time job as a tattoo artist artist and has a sunflower back tat that she a friend of theirs did for them in college, her mother will NEVER find out about it

When Kaliska was 9, her dad had taken her and her siblings to Las Vegas, and she saw the pretty women that her dad had brought over to the motel room when her older sister took them to the pool to leave the adults be (I’m sure you can assume why) seeing those women ended up being her trans awakening, they were so beautiful to her, she wanted to look just like them. She still thinks about that from time to time

Oliver’s father left the picture when he was around 3-4 years old so he has very little memory of him, but his mother and family always say he looks just like him, especially after his transition. He hates it

Rina is a sucker for old love music and melts every time she hears it, Auron has in fact taken notice of this

Cyrus actually had a hobby in cooking and baking when he was younger but was made fun of by his parents and older relatives, saying it was a “women’s job to do that” and “it made him look too girly”. He’s completely comfortable with being “girly” now but he still hasn’t been able to enjoy it the way he used to, so he just enjoys watching Lu do the cooking instead

Amari was premature and has a heart murmur ( projecting abit)

Amari made their nickname “Casper” into “ghost” and uses that for all of his socials

Kaliska actually majors in Scientology and Jack thinks she’s super duper smart and cool for it, she is in fact super smart and cool

Ryuko calls everyone babe but calls only calls Finn “sunshine” and “sweetheart” he loses his mind every single time

When they were younger, Amari, Rina, and Oliver used to practice jumping over fences and brick walls with the older kids on the street for fun (projecting again)

Ryuko and Amari had a bit of a situationship in college, they’re friends now tho

If it wasn't obvious, Wiz is Noise's brother. He's about a year younger than Noise.

Yes, his real name is Wilfred. His ENTIRE name is Wilfred Harlan Noise.

Think of His and Noise's relationship like Stanford and Grunkle Stan. It's basically that. (Wiz being Stanford and Noise being Grunkle Stan) It seems like they hate each other but deep down they really care about the other.

Even though he seems like a mean, scary wizard when you first meet him.... But he's really just a sad and pathetic guy. A boyfail even /hj

Bro is stinkin' rich, he has his own mansion n all that. He's also pretty famous for his magic shows as well, but he's not recognized often when not in costume.

He's always grinning or showing his sharp teeth because he doesn't like showing his buck tooth.

One if not both of his eyes are constantly red. Either his eyes are fucked up (which is why he has glasses but refuses to wear them) or it's just... Like that. But they glow green whenever he uses magic.

He also secretly likes crocheting small animal plushies. No one knows about it.

Alright, now for some lore.

He gained his magic from being possessed. How he got possessed is he found a cursed book (on accident), opened it, and made a deal with the spirit that came out of it. It possessed him and gave him magic. Though, there are many downsides. His magic relies on his energy, the less energy he has, the less powerful his magic is. If he runs out of energy, he passes out. Using too much of his magic can cause him to either pass out as well, cough up/puke green sludge that looks like toxic waste (Green and glowing), Or both. Other symptoms can include: Increased outbursts of rage, permanently nauseous when not practicing magic, and manic episodes. Yeah, he's not doing too well. The only way he could be freed of the spirit is if he died. The spirit can in fact show itself, but it could only come out of Wiz's mouth, not fully freed. Or it could also appear in his mind when he's either sleeping or passed out.

He was known as the "gifted" kid during his childhood, which caused him a crippling fear of failure.

The cursed book he found is a spell book, he still has it and has it really organized. (Ex: by alphabet, how powerful or deadly the spells are, as well as having a bunch of notes on the sides. He's a fucking nerd)

He doesn't like being attached to people, he's always afraid he might hurt them or disturb them because of his possession. He's also touch averse and touch starved.

Him and Noise used to be close when they were children. But then drifted apart as they aged, which causes them to fight a lot and get on each other's nerves.

Tldr: He's a loser and he's suffering /j (please actually read it im begging /hj)

I work with athletes and it's actually crazy how little fans know about the strain that they put on their bodies. We always try to keep things light in treatment because otherwise no one can really handle it but sometimes it's rough. Like when an athlete is in denial of the injury and you have to burst their bubble every day, or when you get a 12 year old going for their 3rd ACL surgery. And the worst part is that they really love their sport, it's not just I can't do my job it's their whole identity, their hobby and all their friends so they get really down when they are out. Then on the other side of it are the joys of the job, the first time they get to run, touch th ball, the first game back. And that's a really weird time for both sides because the athlete is really happy, anxious to go back and at the same time slightly worried/scared and from the medical side it's the sam thing you get really happy but also really anxious about everything going well. Nika's PT will suffer whe she goes back because she loves taking a charge, lunging head first for loose balls and generally getting into physical stuff, those time are hell in the 1st week, specially the carges because in your head it's just "please get up" in a loop and they are taking their sweet time to make sure the ref calls the foul ehile you're going crazy with every scenario.

My friend was studying to be an AT and I remember she told me that one of the hardest parts when working with athletes is the mental toll it takes on them. These people pride themselves on their physical ability and they are passionate about constantly moving and staying physical. Plus their routine is built on exercise and practice so when someone is going through rehab/treatment and part of it is not running every morning they go a little stir crazy. She told me it’s frustrating for athletes because they get so restless doing rehab or feel like they are missing out or feel like because they aren’t getting better then it means they are getting worse.

And physical therapy is also just boring. I hurt my knee when I was younger and I hated physical therapy because it was just repetitive exercises and stretches that bored the crap out of me. And when I did get better and I joined the basketball team my knee would keep swelling up, I ran slower than I used to, I was in pain after practice, so many angry tears shed in the bathroom cuz I felt behind. It sucked.

And when I played tennis, I finally felt healthy enough to not worry about my knee anymore. And it took one misstep and I was back in square one. I remember clutching my knee in pain infront of everyone being so embarrassed that it happened again. I went the entire season with 0 wins and I just gave up and I never went back to playing basketball or tennis. It really demoralized me. And that’s just me, so imagine a professional athlete having to go through that times 20 cuz of the pressure and media attention they get.

thank you so much!! i totally get what you mean by a list, that really is what diversity can feel like sometimes. my weight and figure have fluctuated so much over the years and i've gotten enough shit from family about eating habits and how chubby i've gotten, to the point of dysmorphia, and turning to art (and not to mention seeing the vast majority of fat butch rep) to remedy it has done wonders for my body image, and i'm really glad people like how i do things.

in terms of tips, as someone who went to school for this sorta thing, i'm gonna try to make this as accessible as possible aka free resources.

timed figure drawing!

legit, you gotta draw naked people posed in intricate ways. there's literally no avoiding it, you have to draw from life and not from tutorials. obv, i'm not saying go out and attend a life drawing course -- that's expensive shit -- so here's a few options:

i use a site called quickposes, since most figure drawing galleries require subscriptions.

you can set a timer for how long you want on each pose/reference. i recommend challenging yourself with shorter times as it helps you to get rid of any hang-ups about getting the anatomy exactly right. the drawing's got to get done by the end of the timer, don't focus on the details. just draw, be done with it, move on to the next drawing.

there's also a youtube channel that we'd use in class when a model couldn't show called new masters academy and they have a bunch of timed daily drawing exercises.

as a general rule, don't lean on the amount of time you have. what you're wanting to do is get a FULL PICTURE on your paper as soon as possible, regardless of a long or short time. get the full figure onto the paper then use the rest of the time to fuss over details, shading, editing, etc.

kinda similar to the last one but in the more time-consuming sense.

use pinterest. it has a lot of uses for a lot of things but i use it quite a bit for both anatomy refs and costume design inspiration. this is legit what my home page looks like now because of it.

here's a board i made on anatomy, pulling from different body types; obviously i get a little gay wid it, but there's a verrrryyyy clear lack of certain body types in a lot of body refs like muscular women, fat women, just overall people who higher fat content than the lean, almost 0% fat of the figures seen in most tutorials and galleries:

this is where pinterest really shines because you can find literally everything on it.

in particular, there's an account called character design references, that is basically a stockpile of references for artists. i wouldn't normally recommend artist tutorials when it comes to wanting to learn anatomy because it can get a little echo-chambery (side-eyes the male vs. female tutorials that float around on twitter all the time) but there are actually some boards that have genuine studies on the human form, even from a medical point of view.

LITERALLY JUST DRAW A LOT.

I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH IT'S GONNA TAKE A LOT OF TIME AND PRACTICE TO GET TO A CERTAIN LEVEL OF SATISFACTION.

like that's it, full stop, draw often. if you're feeling rusty, go back to basics. if you're art blocked, go back to basics. if you're bored, go back to basics.
