gimli headcanons:
likes doing laundry. finds it soothing
history nerd!! loves reading old tombs/biographies of his ancestors
is incredibly intelligent. beats frodo in chess. would beat gandalf but gandalf cheats. has been in a stalemate with aragorn for two and a half years.
well mannered but chooses to forgo his politeness to make a point. especially around elves.
does NOT like horses. not just riding them, which is canon, but actually dislikes the animal itself. the reasons why include (but are not limited to) :
he does not like being not on ground. he does not have a fear of heights so much as a fear of… feet not on ground. as evidenced by refusal to jump, treehouses, and well, horses
he does not like their faces. they are long and have eyes on the side like prey. gimli thinks this is deceiving as horses are very large and can kick in someone’s skull. not his skull.
gimli believes that in a one on one match with a horse, he could easily win. he has thought of several, very specific, scenarios of this and has a detailed plan of attack should this situation occur.
they so easily turned against their home for an evil overlord (read: sauron stole all the black horses from rohan) and therefore cannot be trusted. as a rule, anything that willing you let you ride it cannot be trusted. they can’t be satisfied with this life. they are plotting something.
believes he would be great at drums. it’s just hitting things hard and he’s pretty strong.
ok, another thing about horses: they are fragile to a ridiculous extent. you breath wrong and it breaks. they have bad bones and bad blood flow in their legs, and their legs are all that they’re used for. he doesn’t understand why humans invested so much time into horses when they’re genetically bad at what they are meant to do. he’d feel bad for the horses if they weren’t so awful.
drinks coffee, not tea
takes great with the up keeping of his gear. he sharpens his axes, polishes his boots, shines his armor and waxes his mustache. that’s not gear, but he takes great pride in looking groomed and caring for his belongings.
has an axe for every occasion. battle axe? do you want throwing or slashing. a day on the town? have you seen this intricately carved masterpiece that also is a weapon? doffing a hole? PICKAXE. cutting a cake? how about an axe???
hates the rain because it ruins his hair and beard. also loves the rain because it ruins legolas’s hair and clothes.
will eat anything. has a great tolerance for spice. contrary to popular belief, dwarves are not shy of seasoning but are very cautious around other races in fear of poisoning their friends
will also eat some rocks. salty is his favorite (halite, hanksite, glauberite) but also likes to add chunks of chalcanthite to his food for a slightly sweet yet metalic flavor. this is also slightly (SLIGHTLY) poisonous as evidenced by sharing his trail mix with boromir
also calls dirt the “local seasoning”
will taste dirt to try and get a feeling for the land. this tells him the acidity, weather, possible wildlife, and also pisses off legolas
actaully genuinely likes the taste of dirt. (note: if you desire to eat clay/dirt that is a symptom of iron deficiency. for gimli, he eats spoonfuls of the stuff like their supplements because as a kid it was fed to him like multivitamins)
OK SO HEAR ME OUT: lack of sunlight can cause really low hemoglobin and ferritin (a blood protein that contains iron) sooo being constantly in dark caves can cause some forms of iron deficiency. because dwarves are conscious of their young, dwarf children often grow up not often being in direct sunlight.
the solution? dirt. dirt contains iron and other tasty minerals that are good for the body. charcoal has natural antioxidants. so does clay. am i saying that momma gimli (unnamed) fed her son ash and clumps of dirt? yes. also bits of broken pottery. it’s also good of the immune system.
fr tho clay/dirt/charcoal are the dwarven multivitamins. you have a tummy-ache? here, have a rock. i truly believe this was scientifically proven by dwarves and only FOR dwarves (plz do not eat dirt)
fuckin loves mushrooms. has a mushroom log at home. whenever dwarves find some fungai in a cave they go feral
likes dogs. thinks it’s great that they dig holes. thinks it’s fantastic that the bury things in holes. absolutes loves when they get muddy, and then shake off all water and dirt all over you.
when he came back home with the name lockbearer, a lot of the dwarves thought it was really cool and he has some sort of elven puzzle that requires a code to unlock something. imagine their surprise when he rocks up and is like: no, even better. HAIRS. three of them.
enjoys making mudpies- made them as a kid with his cousins, (mostly with rock slurry) and continues to, even even as an adult.
made them on the fellowship with the hobbits. taught them all about the best types of dirt and the water-to-soil- ratio needed.
while cutting up slices of his pie, he offered one to boromir, who in good nature, took it, clearly thinking it was just part of the bit.
poor boromir was locked in a stalemate after gimli cut his own slice, and began eating it.
to his credit, boromir did brave a few bites, but had to stop once he nearly had a mouthful of maggots
“protein”
gimli is like crazy good at hair. can braid quickly and efficiently in elaborate styles
picked up eleven hair style techniques in lorien (quicker than legolas) and was forced to relay them to the elf through twine as there is no way he’s letting grubby elf fingers to touch his glorious mane that’s been decades in the making
would ask for a drink “on the rocks” and get slightly upset if it did not come back with actual rocks

Pondering Sniper with his Emotional Support Scout (AU)

Both in their early transitional age (Scout is 19, Sniper is 22), they’ve already spent a handful of years, supposedly taking the steps to build their futures, but are they where they want to be? Are they going to where they want to be? Where is it anyways?
I just had the idea for a more grounded side to their story, slice-of-life in a coming-of-age setting, with themes of existentialism. I aged them down to make it work… Under cut for info dumps about these goobers 8)
Scout took a break right after high school, working for his family business (an unsuccessful one, ran by one of his oldest brothers). This used to be a summer job, a way to get extra money as a kid, but now he’s been a full time worker for 2.5 years, familial obligations exploiting him to stay, while being undermined by his narcissistic brother. He eventually gets out of it, but has to face the hurt from being used, and also the fact that he had to grow up so quickly as a kid (especially when he has to deal with the fallout caused by his Mom’s and Spy’s affairs. He and his Mom are in good terms, it’s just his Mom isn’t a good support system atm). Left to face the real world by himself, he tries to find a way to stabilize by himself, while trying to face his trauma (trauma from a missing father figure, and being treated as the black sheep of his family) as he finds a way to be more himself and be happy. He’s optimistic and responsible when the world calls for it, otherwise he’s most likely to test this new freedom (for better or worse). Eventually Spy comes around to try to reconnect with Scout, there’s no telling how Scout will cope with it when he’s in the midst his new-found freedom.
Sniper went straight to university, never once took a break from the school work, because he thinks that’s the only way to go about in life. He took up a program and career plan that was not right for him, but struggled his way through by retaking course’s countless of times, pulling off impossible all-nighters, etc. At some point he gave up, began to drop classes every semester, and finally quit the program. However, he started working somewhere in the industry he had been studying years for. He thought this could bring him forward, but it kept digging him a deeper grave. He’s a workaholic, impulsive, but lost. At a very young age, he was a subject of a tough custody battle between his neglectful biological parents (Lar-nah and Bill-bel), and his grandparents (who are Mr and Mrs Mundee in this AU). From that, his guardians want him to be better than his parents, and in return he strived for that. However, after giving up, he feels like a failure and is currently going through a period of depression. However, with the money he earned from his job, he wonders if he should take that road-trip he used to fantasize. He told himself doing this will help him find himself, but a part of him wonders if its just him trying to run away from something. Either way, he’s got a deal for a junk RV and he wants to renovate it!
After all that, Scout and Sniper meet, their lives are in the cross roads, and their relationship is a turning point as well. It feels like the world is moving faster than they can cope with, but can they find some respite in this new relationship together? DUN DUN DUUUN
Phew this was really fun to write! I really like their dynamic, romantic or not (idc). Them being the same age range inspired me to write this, because I know myself and some friends have gone through this similar experience aswell, and I just think its fun/interesting to explore that with they have in cannon.
A lot of this projection tho lmao with a loose base derived from cannon, and some embellishments to make this AU work.

Alright, I was up all night figuring this AU out because I’m new to it and it seems interesting. But, I do have some questions.
- What if Usagi was broken enough to actually take his own life? Would Leo attempt to stop him before it actually works? Or what would happen if Leo was too late to save Usagi?
- If it was possible, how would Raph react if he lost Mrs. Cuddles one day?
- Did Mikey get hurt enough one day to the point he was unconscious for more than a few days? How did his brothers react to it?
I DESPERATELY NEED TO KNOW, THIS AU IS KILLING ME MAN 😭

Okay, now questions (good questions, at that):
- Leo absolutely would attempt to stop him. In the Canon of later years, Usagi is actually on a sort of 'watch' system incase he does try to hurt himself. Typically this involves Leo being around him, but if Leo isn't avaliable, it is usually Shelldon who will make sure Usagi doesn't SH or something similar. Leo would absolutely restrain Usagi or keep Usagi alive/conscious, he wants Usagi to last as long as possible.
If Leo was too late, and Usagi died, Leo would just become a husk of himself. He would become depressed, withdrawn, etc. He'd lash out as well, likely to Usagi's brothers specifically. If Usagi dies, Leo isn't keeping Ken and Ishi around. I can imagine that when Usagi dies, Leo refuses to let go of the body for just. Days/weeks, and only let's go bc he's so dehydrated and hungry that he can't fight Donnie pulling the, ya know, Rotting Corpse out of his arms.
- Lose his complete and utter shit. The entire Lair is getting torn apart looking for her until she's found or they can make/find a new one.
- I could see that happening 100%, though it hasn't happened in anything canon. Probably just a nice mini-coma after a week long bender or something, or a pretty hard fight in the nexus.
Leo would absolutely not want to leave Mikey alone. He'd be attached to Mikey's side and waiting like a pathetic soggy cat for him to wake up. Leo would be just so sad bc he misses his little brother :( Donnie wouldn't really LIKE the fact Leo would always be jostling/moving Mikey, but he also can't really STOP him sooooo. He picks his battles.
Donnie would just be in medical mode first, angry protective big brother second. Taking care and making sure he's stable, any injuries he has stay clean and wrapped, etc etc. The second Mikey wakes back up he's getting beaten with a belt tho, for making Donnie WORRY and also wasting his IV DRIPS
Raph would just wanna lurk and be around Mikey when possible, may leave one of his lesser stuffies with him. Probably also the one having to peel Leo off of Mikey if Donnie needs to do something that requires Leo keeps his personal space, lmao. Raph just stays close and spends time with Mike, even after he wakes up, just to make sure he feels better.

Finished the main story campaign in Spider-Man 2
What I liked
There were some AWESOME action set pieces. Sandman's boss fight, the prison transfer, Kraven's den, chasing Black Cat, and hunting the Lizard just to name a few.
The swinging is still fun and I LOVED the web-wings. There are times when I go in for a glide, hoping to get to the checkpoint without needing to swing. It's more addicting than it should be.
LOVED Kraven. Probably the best adaptation of him yet with an interesting motivation that makes sense for a character like him.
Miles' little story with Mister Negative is ALSO interesting, and I like how it ended, especially with what they do with Martin in the end. It's pretty good.
The boss fights are a huge improvement, adding in a health bar that lets you know how far along you're kicking ass and making each fight feel like a battle WON. It's frustrating that I got MY ass kicked more times than not, but each time I finally beat the boss it I EARNED that victory.
That brief moment where I was killing people as Venom was super fun in a sick way. PLEASE make that Venom Spin-off game, Insomniac. We want you to just for gameplay alone.
Peter giving into the madness of the symbiote is handled pretty well. It DOES feel like he becomes a little more evil quicker than he should have, but I blame that on me going through the game's story mode and actively avoiding the side missions until I finished the campaign. Everyone's gameplay experience is different and something that feels fast in the story might not feel as fast to others.
MJ's stealth missions are actually pretty exciting this time...a bit bullshit that SHE can take care of certain goons, but at least I'm not wasting time hiding anymore. And that final mission with her was surprisingly fun and intense.
I liked those prequel scenes of Peter as a teen. Really sold how young he was when starting out as Spider-Man.
What I Didn't Like
THAT GOSH DANG PARRY SYSTEM! I'm willing to blame my own lack of skill for this, but I HATE parrying. I almost NEVER get it right, and it sucks when fighting foes where parrying is a requirement to beating them. And it's extra bullshit when the game throws in attacks you HAVE to dodge and get super FUCKED when you parry instead. It made combat more frustrating than fun, and actually hurt my enjoyment in the combat, which I INTENSELY enjoyed from the first game and the Miles Morales spin off.
And don't even get me started on those horseshit checkpoints! Every time I start over, I am filled with DREAD that I have to do all that annoying difficult shit all over again because I didn't get to this exact point the game wanted me to get to.
It doesn't make sense that Kraven has goons. He works best as a solo act and I don't get what his minions get out of working for him. I know it's to give us more people to fight against, but it doesn't work for me.
Norman Osborn is surprisingly underutilized in this game? Like, with how much of a prominent role Harry has, there's not much of a need for Norman, nor a valid reason to be there other than get pissed off over what happens near the end. It feels like his character was an afterthought, which is strange for someone who's meant to be the Green Goblin soon.
Harry's character...gets worse the more the game goes by. He started out interesting as someone both clinging to the past and trying desperately to pick up his life right where he left it. But as the game goes on and it tries to push this...idea with him, it doesn't really work as there's not enough time to properly develop it. It was a good idea with not that great of an execution.
Miles' suit...I don't hate as much as the rest of the people who played the game, but I do think it's nonsense that Miles made it while the city was being destroyed. Yeah, Peter made a new suit in the end of the last game, but there you can argue that it's for practicality purposes in order to get the upper hand against Doc Ock. Miles just made a new suit because he thought it looked cool...It does not.
AND WHERE ARE THE AVENGERS?! It didn't make sense that they didn't show up in the first game, and it makes even LESS sense now! Like, you really expect me to believe that NONE of the Avengers were available at the moment? NONE?! Not even Hawkeye?! At this point, I expect the third game to end a similar way Peacemaker did, where Peter and Miles are carrying away a bleeding out MJ after this big apocalyptic fight, and the Avengers show up JUST as its over only for Peter to go, "You're too late, assholes!" And now that I say it...that would actually be pretty funny. But it's still nonsense that they're not there!
And that's about it. 8/10 game, not as great as the first one, but still pretty fun.

Mario Kart
Mario Kart, a very old spin off of the one of the main flagship titles starting all the way back in 1992 in late August titled “Super Mario Kart”. This was a unique entrée back in the day letting you drive as the brother Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Bowser, A random Koopa Troopa and Donkey Kong Jr for some reason. Housing Four different Cups/Tournaments labelled Star, Mushroom, Flower and Special respectively. It was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or the SNES, it was a fun game with difficult controls and even crazier coding.

Let me give you an example, the term “Rubber Banding” is used when talking about the artificial intelligence of the enemies or the other drivers, it means that when you are far ahead, they will fly forward much faster than they are supposed to. This is for the player to constantly have a challenge during the race. But it was overdone, they are too fast and have many, MANY, more options than you to win, it’s like playing against a cheater and is very frustrating. As the first entrée that ill talk about, it's a solid game working with weaker hardware, 6/10. Now, I’ve not played all the Mario Karts, so I’m going to skip most hand held like for the DS, Game Boy, and for the 3Ds. The next on the list is Mario Kart 64, taking us into the third dimension visually and graphically.

With a few new characters like Wario (Replacing Koopa) and D.K replacing his dad from the first game. It’s pretty fun and I'm not going to go into the details to much, aside from touching the time trails and battle modes that are a constant throughout all the titles. Its cool and gives us a new feature, drifting, all tho we don’t get a boost it lets you take corners much faster and at better angles. 7/10 Now, i didn’t get the opportunity to play “Double Dash” but from most things I've seen it gives you the ability to switch your character to another one of your choosing, and they all have unique items that each have their own benefits. I can’t give my opinion, but I emplor you to play it and see for yourself. The one that I played the most growing up was definitely Mario Kart Wii (2008)

, with many more cups that previous games we have many more characters as with the insanely popular “Funky Kong” who is one of the new racers, I gotta say that this game rocks, from the music to the visuals and controls, it’s no questions the most popular game of the franchise. New cups and mods are being put into this game to this day, because it’s just so fun to play and the skill ceiling (How good you can get) is super high, a solid 9/10 cause there are a couple of small flaws, but let's move on to the last entrée I will talk about. Mario kart 8 Deluxe (2017)

is, at the moment, the last game of the series, with a kart customization, 96 cups with four tracks each, and over 40 racers that each behave differently on the tracks, new modes of transportation with the upside down gravity mode and the third level of boost called the Mega mini Turbo. The reason that I’m skipping the regular version is because it’s nothing better or different than this one, this one is just better. With more karts, characters, tracks, battle modes, tougher time trials ghosts and new Mii costumes it’s simple to see why. With all this said and done, it’s great, the tracks are stunning to look at, with neo Bowser City being one of the best examples to show this. Now with the booster pass coming out any day now it stands at an 8/10.

Since you seem to like him and played the game, you had any thoughts on Mysterio little side story on spider man 2 if you had done it? I quite like it.
I very much like Mysterio in general! But, I didn't play it, I don't have any system to play it on and no money to afford it. I can't seem to find any videos about his entire story tho so I don't have much of an opinion.
tl;dr: I like it eccentric little weirdo guy who has impressive magic skills and a cool costume! :) I like the skull helmet. I think his design took some inspiration and elements from the one in Shattered Dimensions, which honestly? So cool.
possible spoilers below for what I could gather:
neat reference to Betsy Schneider who first appeared in Webspinners: Tales Of Spider-Man as far as I'm aware, who was a childhood friend of Beck's. It also didn't end well for Beck in that regarding Betsy.
So that's neat they have that little trend going.
uhh I think it's neat in general? He has a cool design overall, and like I saw someone say, I really like how he wanted to stop being Mysterio, to stop being a villain, wanted to change. I like that a lot!
The boss battle, although not actually Quentin Beck himself, was really cool, totally normal about it. I don't know what Betsy and the other lady did to him, but gosh he looked so pathetic and miserable.
From what I could gather uhhh.. he wanted to open an interactive attraction with his illusory tech so people could have fun safely in a full on VR world? or something like that? Exception there were complications and also Betsy and the other lady taking advantage of him and using that stuff for themselves for.. I think someone said money laundering?? I have no idea. I wish I could find a video of the whole story with him to get a better idea.

Okay so I have this AU/fic that I keep rotating in my mind and I want to share it bc even though it probably won’t ever be a fic, I want to make some concept sketches for it and MAYBE some animations (MAYBE). I made this particular sketch while working on a different project, hence the “I was supposed to do my project”
Background:
In this particular setup, Eggman is less of a world-dominating villain and more of a morally grey CEO (like Elon Musk but arguably less evil). He still contributes to pollution, thanks to his factories/warehouses, but he isn’t actively trying to take over the planet. Sonic still tries to dismantle his machinery tho because he doens’t like the pollution that they cause.
The Chaos Emeralds aren’t a thing in Sonic’s planet (yet). They still have the Master Emerald though and its shards sort of act as the individual Chaos Emeralds. When united into the Master Emerald, it’s as powerful as all 7 Chaos Emeralds and can turn people who come into contact with it Super. This is relevant to the plot. 
Sonic and co. (except Eggman) have the generally exact same stories/histories, just without the 7 Chaos Emeralds. 
Actual Plot: 
The planet is experiencing an energy crisis. Robotnik Industries obviously has a role to play in this, as one of the largest energy consumers and waste producers in the world. However, rather than trying to put restrictions on the company, GUN-- which benefits highly from Robotnik Industries’ weaponry production-- decides to set their eyes to the stars in search of a new energy source. 
According to ancient echidna manuscripts, evidence from archeological digs, and mysterious energy pings from beyond the solar system, the planet of Mobius used to have 7 Chaos Emeralds along with the singular Master Emerald, but a mysterious cataclysm sent them off the planet. Seeing no reason to doubt the glaring evidence of their existence, GUN initiates a mission to retrieve the emeralds as a way to make more energy. To gather a crew for the mission, they open 150 slots for potential crewmates to try out and begin training. 
Sonic and co understand that GUN would probably use the emeralds for their own benefit. Wanting to keep an eye on the organization, they try out for the mission, with some of the friends staying behind to keep watch over Mobius. 
Those who go on the mission are: Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow, and Rouge.
Those who stay behind are: Tails, Amy, Cream, and the Chaotix. 
Initially, Tails wanted to be apart of the mission but was declined because he was considered “too young,” despite his valor in previous battles. Sonic tried to vouch for him, but when Tails realized he’d have more of an impact as part of the on-planet engineer team and Mission Control, he opted to stay behind and participate from Mobius. 
Once aboard the ship-- they couldn’t use the Ark because it wasn’t meant to leave orbit-- the crew settles in. Knuckles realizes he very easily gets space-sick (due to the fluorescent light and sterile, enclosed environment) and enters a state of lethargy and weakness that he has to fight against whenever he’s aboard. Sonic doesn’t like the limited space, but finds himself to be very popular with the crewmates and finds ways to run around. He too misses the open space though. Shadow fares the best, with the ship giving him a sense of nostalgia for the Ark. He seems a tad more relaxed and often compares he experience on the Ark to that of the ship. 
Aboard the ship, the the crewmates are split into Squadrons, with each Squadron containing 4 members: a pilot, a searcher, a guard, and a medic. Each Squadron gets its own little ship for the purpose of exploring planets with Chaos energy signatures. Sonic, Knuckles, and Shadow all end up being in the same Squad. Sonic is the pilot, Shadow is the searcher, and Knuckles is the guard. It is here they meet Molly, their medic. Molly, who I based off of Molly from Sonic X, is a human from Mobius. When she was 15, Shadow saved her from a falling building during the invasion of the Black Arms. Now, at the age of 25 (they’re all in their 20s), she feels that she would be able to repay him somehow. 
The story basically follows the crew’s adventure as they search 10 planets for the Chaos Emeralds. Each character has a moment where they almost lose their life, but somehow pull through.
Knuckles gets his head busted open from an ice-cave collapse (shown in the image), Shadow has to have Molly surgically remove a parasite from his side, Sonic nearly gets crushed or nearly drown (tbh idk what happens to him yet), and Molly... I actually haven’t thought about hers yet. 
Eventually, they get all the Chaos Emeralds and start to head home. By now, they’ve travelled obscenely far from Mobius. Like, they’ve left the solar system. To achieve this without needing stasis, they use teleportation rings, much like the mechanism they had for the Blue Typhoon in Sonic X. However, the mechanism was destroyed at some point, and now they’re stranded. Thankfully, Sonic, Shadow, and Knuckles have heightened sensitivity to Chaos Energy and deduce that the combined energy of the 7 emeralds are as powerful as the Master Emerald when put together. They manage to convince the entire crew to let Sonic and Shadow go Super and chaos-control them home, taking short intermittent rests at the planets they’ve visited in a sort of “planet-hopping” fashion. They make it home and they manage to de-fuse from the emeralds and “accidentally” spread them across Mobius to make it more difficult for GUN to get ahold of them, thus establishing the presence of the Chaos Emeralds.
The end. 
oh! I’m thinking of a couple sub-plot ideas where they come into contact with other societies and try to communicate with them through pictures and video, as well as a bunch of other little fun “slice of life” bits to add here and there.

Tf2 Rothena!! Original & redesign!! She became my tf2 si after(under the cut):
I made a whole au where she was on a warp pad & some enemy activated it or destroyed it when she was trying to activate it to help, and she got transported to the tf2 universe (more game and non-story-comics-based one) and gradually gave less shits until she gave up(once she realized there was no way back home) on way more morals than dan vs or tf2 mae, and after busting out of jail one too many times, she accepts a job from the Administrator's corporation for protection of her & some one-sided(on her side)friends, and her fate is cemented there. Also she has the same default scars as tf2 & danvs Mae but i didn't draw them in bc i was focused on getting the new damn 'render' done. Their team role is officially The Understudy, but she calls herself Cannon Fodder, Expendable, other self-deprecating terms that the team members she didn't gel with went along with(Soldier, Spy, Scout occasionally, Medic bc he thinks it's as funny as she does, same for Sniper) at the beginning. She usually picks or is assigned to(read: the rest of the team draw straws or fight w rock-paper-scissors to determine) one team member throughout the match, assisting them in their job as backup or cannon fodder/actual scouting (its okay bc she respawns & is gets good at not dying eventually). okay discord copy pasting abt her under th ecut
Rothena joins red team starting out being completely herself: adhd, gen z suicide jokes, talking abt how much she loves women, etc, unlike how she usually acts when meeting new people. She figures "it's the 1960s, if i'm gonna get like hate crimed i better do it before i get attached, put all my quirks out in the open" & being so open abt herself actually endears some of the mercs to her (& makes others think she's nuts/has to self-preservation which. true lol) However this makes soldier her worst enemy bc she keeps talking abt how much she hates america. Despite being american rothena: i want free healthcare soldier: you want handouts!? rothena: no, i just don't want to pay 10,000 dollars bc some rando got me sick & i needed to be hospitalized
eventually they settle the fighting with "america could be improved but it's our home & we should stand for it & support it to improvement" but before then, HOO boy they're like in the "can i PLEASE get a waffle" vine: rothena & soldier: *fighting abt america* engineer: can you stand on the point?? rothena & soldier: *get more violent* engineer: can you PLEASE stand on the point?!?
Rothena does godawful at her first day on the field--she's only worked with sitting-duck or inexperienced targets w miss pauling, & the team dismisses her as a liability, so she does her best to stay out of the way bc she thinks so too (and tbh she kind of is, it's like if a casual/beginner jumped into a competitive match in tf2). But heavy takes pity on her and takes her under his wing, having her practice when he has free time he's willing to sacrifice, and having her shadow him during battles!! And the team sees her become more useful and eventually more of them start asking her to shadow them, earning her first positive class-based nickname, (Little) Shadow! Maybe medic sees her potential to learn and observe when she picks up a stray medigun and uses it on him without ever being taught how to!! And from there the trust builds!!
how tf2 rothena started: "blue hair" by tv girl (sad/melancholy) how tf2 rothena is going(canon): "using you" by margo (bittersweet but mostly happy) how tf2 rothena will end up(post-canon): "lifetime achievement award" by lemon demon or smth w similar resurrection themes (driven mad from love and care, unwilling to let go of mortal friends, medic is in on this)

trying to use rpgmaker mz for the first time in my life to make gay oc rpg game & i decided on using parallax maps & boy it is a struggle everywhere else.
i knew a lot of effort & work goes into art and everything so i have a lot of placeholder assets but even making those takes time... not to mention doing research on how to do specific things i want to get working, only to find out there's a free plugin for that exact thing! ((but)) in rpgmaker mv... not mz.
i'm committed to using mz though now because i managed to get some custom things working but goddamn... it is painful trying to think about how to plan this. i've opened obsidian again to try and write down a plan but i think approaching everything makes me freeze up because i'm just like ☹️
"if i do this i have to make assets. but i could use placeholders. but i still have to make the map. but what goes between the maps. but i want to fix the battle system first. but i need this to look nice first." and it is a cycle...
it's fun to see it work tho... 😭 gives me something to keep me sane when my bf is at work all day & i have been feeling not great™️ to work on art.

Guys I think the writing for fire emblem engage is somehow worse than fire emblem fates. Im a longtime fire emblem fan, I've played every recent game, and this... this is just Awful lmfao
Im still having plenty of fun & I have my handful of characters I love soooo much. But God fucking damn this writing is just some of the worst I've ever seen in a game

Final conclusion (since I ran out of tags): What Even Is This Fucking Game. Definitely my least favorite fire emblem game in many respects, but By God I'm going to finish this bitch and I'm gonna have plenty of fun as I do so. And I'm also going to make fun of every narrative choice it makes along the way bc the writing in this game is just SO fucking bad holy shit. I just need to finish this game and get on with my life already. God fuckin damn.)

FUCKING. TWENTY THREE OF TWENTY SIX.#i just finished chapter 25. im nearly at the end. i love my main army but it feels like ive barely gotten to know them as a whole#bc it only finally formed TWO CHAPTERS AGO.#im just. god this game is so frustrating in a way ive NEVER experienced before. and ive played a lot of games!!!!!#like dont get me wrong im still having fun with it. i love a lot of the characters and the gameplay (now that i HAVE all of it) is So fun

A/b/o Oc headcanons
🍑 Pecha 🍑
- An omega, through and through. She’s a hopeless romantic and with that probably comes the longing idea of find an alpha. (She’s fine also romantically pairing with a fellow omega or beta! But there’s something about being an omega to an alpha that just seems…soulmate-ish in a way to her?)
- Has a rare side, similar to her normal universe self, that appears during battle or if someone she loves is in danger. Her eyes get red and she hisses in a way that will raise the hair on anyone’s arms. Omega hisses are NEVER a good sign.
- She smells like summer Pecha berries. Her anxiety can make her smell a bit stronger, but adds a bitter note to the sweet smell. Being calm makes her smell more like a pecha tree than the berries, and happy and vibrant makes her smell like pecha candy! Anger makes the scent sour…but you’re more likely hear her get angry before you smell it. Despite her mood, she smells faintly of tree sap from being around bug types all the time.
- During heats, Pecha smells like a mixed basket full of berries and for once her scent becomes overbearing. Ever the workaholic…tries to work through her heats :/ Hot-Sauce, her centiskorch, usually does his best to pull her away from her desk. He’s usually her cuddle buddy through heats as his natural warmth and ability to curl around her like a cocoon makes her feel safe and cared for. ❤️
- When she gets a significant other, she loves to be scented and to scent them. She asks mostly that they scent a plush for her to cuddle when they’re away. She gets lonely easily :(
👻 Rawst 👻
- An omega leaning towards beta. He dislikes the whole a/b/o system and if someone asks what he is, he usually avoids the question. Most assume he’s a beta.
- Because of his preference for ghost types, he has a faint wet autumn leaves smell to accompany his berry smell. The leaf smell amplifies when he’s calm, and the berry smell sours when he’s stressed. When excited, a warm campfire scent fills the air. During his heat, he smells similar to Pecha with a mixed berry basket.
- Rawst hates having heats. He usually stifles them with supressants , but if he forgets or has a heat anyway he self-sabotages through fear of being seen as weak that he practically botches his own heat. The rest of it is spent in pain and shivering, usually being doted on by his sister and/or father. They worry about him and wish that he’d be kinder to himself..
- When he finally gets comfortable to have a partner, he embarrassedly passes them things for them to scent. He especially wants them to scent his hoodie so that he feels like they’re constantly hugging him.
☕️ Aman ☕️
- Alpha leaning towards beta. Most assume he’s beta because they’ve never seen him do the usual alpha behaviors (clicking teeth, puffing chest, growling) or even the omega ones (purring, hissing). When challenged by another alpha, Aman usually bows out of any confrontation.
- His scent is dull for an alpha, but it smells like fireplace in a cozy house. Calmness adds a coffee hint. Anger and anxiety make the fire smell more like an intense burning wildfire that’ll make you cover your nose from the burning smell. His ruts usually smell more like a campfire, a bit wilder but still nice smelling.
- Aman works during his ruts, but not his usual work. He’s off leave usually with family but keeps to a dimly lit room where he can look over paperwork in peace. He paces a lot and has a lot of adhd stim toys to keep his hands busy. If anyone tries to take away his work when he’s in the middle of it, he’ll probably growl at them. ( a significant other has a higher chance of luring him away tho)
- Aman’s truer alpha side comes out when he finally has a partner. He’s a bit more jealous and clingy when you’re his, and he scents you religiously. He growls much more often, usually at the people who stare at you, and he whines when you aren’t paying enough attention to him. Even if he’s jealous and a bit possessive, he isn’t a commanding alpha.
🐛 Calhoun 🐛
- He’s the lambert the sheepish lion of alphas. Calm, gentle, and much too passed his prime to care about the challenges of younger alphas, but he will see red if you’re threatening anyone in his little pack.
- This man smells like…well, man. That musky but good smell of a man plus pine trees. When calm, he smells a bit more like pine trees. Anxious or angry makes him smell more like pine tar. During his rut, he smells like the whole forest. No matter what his mood, like his daughter, he has the hint of tree sap to his scent from how often he is with bug types.
- Cal has very, VERY low maintenance ruts that he sometimes skips or even doesn’t notice if he’s had his rut or not. He’s been without a partner for almost 20 years now (he hasn’t even shared a rut with a rut mate since). The most he needs is sunglasses when he’s out. He usually spends his ruts hiking and such in the wilderness.
- This all comes crashing down on Cal the moment he kisses someone romantically though, or possibly even cuddles and scents another. His hormones literally wake up like “…?? We’re not done?? Okay!!” And Cal experiences the worst rut he’s ever had in his life. Locks himself in his room and desperately needs to cover his eyes, ears, nose, everything. His senses are too much. Poor man places himself under his bed for some relief. (His poor new date partner might be confused why a kiss just set him off but hey. Take it as a compliment)
- Man misses having pups. He used to swaddle his babies in his shirts so they’d feel safe and secure. Then when they were kids, theyd wear his shirts to sleep like nightgowns. He had to fight tears when Pecha finally decided she didn’t want to wear them anymore :((

Subway Pole Dancing
in where ingo and emmet catch their s/o pole dancing on the subway cameras.

listen its late and this poor man has the night shift
running on like three cups of coffee and is working on his fourth
the depot agent that usually takes over for the subway bosses at night called in. so being the understanding boss he is ingo took over
it was only him and maybe a handful of depot agents. most of who were absent from the monitoring room
now im not going to say s/o was a little upset that ingo took the night shift to leave her all alone….
but she was upset that ingo took the night shift and left her alone
sipping from his freshly poured fourth cup of coffee, ingo checked over the paper work from that nights train maintenance. for the most part the night was normal and ran slow, as usual
all it took was one glance up at a random monitor for ingo to spit out the mouthful he just took from his mug to see his s/o spinning around on a pole with her legs wrapped around it.
she switched poses, walked around the pole before climbing to the top to do a mid-air split. spun around on that bitch. it was mesmerizing
he stared as she worked that pole as if she had done this her whole life
wait she can pole dance??? since when??
ingo immediately slammed his clipboard and coffee onto the console [bby be careful those aint cheap] and staring bugged eyed at the monitor as his face slowly grew hotter.
he quickly fumbled with the buttons on the consol to turn on the pa system for that particular train car.
“BELOVED PLEASE STOP SPINNING AROUND ON THAT POLE!! THAT IS UNSAFE AND IM CERTAIN ITS AGAINST SOME SAFTY REGULATION!!!!”
did i say the pa system for THAT train car? i meant the whole station.
depot agents everywhere were confused and looking around, some in a short panic cause ingo used his conductor voice that could wake the dead in kanto.
once the train came to a stop, s/o was greeted by a very flustered and red faced subway boss who stuttered every other word.
“b-beloved…” he was beyond flustered, mark him down as deceased.
needless to say, he never took another night shift again.

Emmet
this poor man has had a long day. too many back to back battles.
tho he isnt complaining too much cause he won the majority of them.
but someone was going to get a stern talking to about over scheduling battles in one day.
to top it all off he had to do overtime cause the trains automated system needed to be updated. the depot agent in charge of that got hurt trying to separate some rowdy passengers. thus, emmet was working late.
now this wasnt unusual for the man cause he was as much of a workaholic as his brother. so his s/o was use to these late night shifts.
tho she wasnt mad she sure was lonely.
like, really lonely.
like, “let me go see my husband in the dead of night and tease him” lonely.
so while emmet sat in his chair and made sure all the systems got updated, he played around with a stress toy of a jigglypuff someone left behind.
it was cute cause if ya squeeze it its eyes bugged out.
emmet did that several times while laid back in a chair, occasionally looking up at the laptop to check the progress of the updates.
while doing so, lo and behold~ something on the monitor has piqued his interest.
and on his battle line subway train no less.
it was his lovely s/o~ the light of his life~ his beautiful-wait what is she doing with that pole????
the grip he had on that jiggilypuff was so strong not only did its eyes bugg out they exploded
emmets smile grew ten time that night.
his s/o worked that pole as if life itself depended on it!
no way in hell was he going to watch this from a monitor! by arceus he was going to get front row seats!!!
emmet raced out of that office faster than a pikachu could recharge a battery.
he beelined past depot agents and late night passengers alike. the only thing that could stop him now was if a horde of joltiks busted out of the ground and dragged him in!
needless to say, the show was so much better upfront. and there was a possibility you needed assistance getting back to the car.

SO. UNDERHERO.
When i first heard you talking about this game, i was still kinda in undertale recovery so i thought jt was an undertale fangame but in a more fantasy classic rpg-style
Very clearly i was dead wrong lmao
I genuinely like the premise of a young mook killing the hero and taking their place, and the artstyle made it REALLY appealing to me! Then once i learned it was adjacent to the mario and luigi rpgs i was pretty excited!
The world is such a fun place, with the villain hq being like an office building and the other worlds are cool in their own way, especially the ghost world but I'm incredibly biased lmao. The characters are fun, too! Cereza especially was great, and of course i too love puzzleman lol
The gameplay is fun! The battle system is unique and interesting while still having a good ol rpg kick to it, and i love that! Though admittedly it feels weird that the game is so low level-oriented, i feel super weird about beating the final boss at level 16 lol
The music... had its ups and downs for me. Some songs were genuinely amazing, but others just kinda felt boring
Of course, the game itself isnt perfect. Sometimes it can feel kinda bland, they really didn't try with the pause screen and im not the biggest fan of the ui (the mask kid's mask staring at me in the upper left corner is... unsettling, imo), and i never really got over how floaty and mildly sluggish the game could be. Also the physics were weird. Also i don't really like world 3 all that much lol
But overall this feels like that game that you look at the box art of while at toys r us, beg your parents to get it for you, they oblige, and you adore it and wanna talk about it to your friends and they have no idea what you're talking about, and you feel alone in loving it until you go online and either find a bustling fan community or find out a big youtuber made a video on it and new fans are entering the series nonstop
....was that a long winded analogy? Lol
Anyways i can totally see why you love this game and while i don't think it'll effect my brain as much as it did yours, i had a great time with it and definitely wanna reccomend it to friends and stuff!

Haven't talked about Angel's Lullaby development in a while. I had to stop production once work got overwhelming for the holidays, thus having to delay the game's December release. I hadn't expected to land a job nor that it'd be THAT much different from when I worked in a small town. It whipped me tf out rippp
But yeah I had trouble getting back into it, after delaying I lost the "time limit" pressure and honestly, lost a lot of motivation and heart over my own personal disappointment 😞
But! I'm back into full development and am managing work and my personal time better. I actually work on a handful of fan projects, tho they're all in varying amounts of done and a good amount aren't even public yet.
So for Angel's specially:
- I've recoded a good chunk of the game. A combo of: switching state machine systems, collison/movement code and lastly just me improving my coding abilities. Settings menu, overworld menu and obvs the player object. Completely overhauled.
I'm doing some exciting things like using surfaces, masking, and soon I'll be using shaders for things. I keep needing to pinch myself that I'm capable of these things now!
Anyway, I should have the game's systems all fixed up soon. I've also been remaking the tileset and room layouts. So I'm hoping to have a fully playable demo in a couple weeks.
There's still a lot to do- I've gotta remake some character's sprites, redo/finish portraits, add a couple "scenes" into the script. And the battle system? ...actually almost done, but I work on that with one my my coder team members and we've been on break. Probably 2-5 voice call sessions to finish. O_O (something unexpected always pops up that ends up taking time to implement.)
Just decided I need to redo my text system 🙈 that coder I mentioned plans on making a text system himself, but I need a basic one to deal with for now. I've made these before but I've never really been happy with how they turn out

beat Forspoken, and while I probably will write an in-depth review down the line cuz i have many thoughts, I'm just going to pointform my basic thoughts while it's still fresh.
PROS
Great designs all around, the Tantas look so breathtaking with their extravagant designs and yet it doesn't take away from their world, it fits just right in. Absolutely love it.
Good world building most questions i had were answered either through the main story or extra archive stuff. Nothing felt too weird yknow
Gameplay gameplay gameplay. The magic system is literally amazing. I dont think I've had this much fun fighting in an rpg in a long time. Theres so much fun variety so you can focus on whats comfortable for you while also looking sick as fuck. Have i mentioned how good the battle system is cuz i avoid playing mage in every game because its such a slog but here its so fast paced and hits hard. Perfect for me.
The music is soooo good, I love the main theme and find myself humming it literally all the time.
Great graphics but maybe a lil too many particle effects but otherwise really pretty.
The story is technically a pro. Like its good, not bad, not great, just good. Basically something you'd find in the YA Fantasy section, thats the kinda quality it was. Which isn't a insult I did enjoy the story and characters. It just needed polish, fix up the dialogue and trim some of the story fat and i wouldn't have any complaints tbh. Probably would do better as a book series tho ngl, not sure what game format would have saved it.
Shoutout to the accessibility options. I'm glad more games are including these. I'll never understand complaints about them though, like just dont use them if you dont want/need to thats it.
ALMOST FORGOT THE COOLEST THING. THE NAILS. I'm sorry but the idea of using nail art to inscribe magic runes to give you buffs is the coolest fucking idea ever, why has this concept not been used till now. We always see rune tatoos or written on gear and stuff im fantasy media but this is such a neat ideaaaa and im forever thankful for it. Her capes are cool too I guess, with there was more variety rather than recolors tho. Kinda wish we could also get different outfits for her tho. Those jeans probably chafe.
CONS
THE OPEN WORLD IS SO BIG FOR NO GODDAMN REASON. I honestly wish this wasn't an open world game tbh, its so unnecessary. Halfway through the game, i got so frustrated and ignored everything that wasn't story points cuz getting everywhere takes so damn long, especially early on when you dont have fancy parkour or stamina. Easily its biggest fault for me.
I understand they thought it'd do way better than what happened but planning out a story as a trilogy in the gaming industry is not a smart move. I've yet to play the dlc so idk if we get closure but the loose ends werent a great way for the game to end.
Oh, the dialogue. Its easily one of the gamest weakest points. Like the type of dialogue i was writing in my original stories when i was 13 (not that ive gotten any better tbh). Basically, it's not what you expect from such a vaunted company. Frey is great when shes excited or angry, which is most of the time, but occasionally, they'll hit me with the cheesiest line I've heard in years, and idk how to handle it. Like the stuff she says in the final chapter is honestly so robotic, there is no natural flow present. Which is a pity cuz the actress was killing it tbh, like she definitely carried the lines with her emotion. Unfortunately, it couldn't save them. Like if it was something they dropped on ps3 or wii, it honestly would have done fine. What i mean to say is the dialogue is very outdated in this age of gaming. im actually surprised how out of touch it feels. Especially since otherwise its a solid game all around. Regarding Cuff and Frey banter you do have the option to make it less frequent or just turn it off but i never really found them annoying regardless.
Maybe its just me but the control scheme feels so weird, the games makes you feel like you should be gliding most of the time but holding O while spaming all those trigger buttons feels so awkward to me. But then again I also didnt care enough to change the control scheme so.
