I've been rereading the Discworld city watch books, and had some fancast thoughts for the movie I hope is never made because it will never measure up to the books-

Vimes as David Tennant reprising the scrungly detective character he embodied so nicely in Broadchurch

Sibyl as Gwendoline Christie, because she is delightful and also TALL

Colon and Nobby- Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, because they've already got the rapport

Angua as Anya Taylor-Joy because she's beautiful but somewhat unsettling.

Carrot as a handsome Chris, not sure which one (Hemsworth?)

Vetinari - Giancarlo Esposito. He has the stare.

I’m watching Splash (1984) which is a romcom about a guy who falls in love with a mermaid, and when she chooses a human name she chooses Madison and guy says “that’s not a real name, but alright” which seems to imply that Madison was not a name until at least the 80’s and all girls named Madison are actually named after the mermaid. thought you should know
