my guide to lesbian anime both canonic and subtextual

(won’t include every lesbian anime ever, this is a personal list)

the canonic-gay section:

revolutionary girl utena

nothing before or since has ever done it like this. trigger warnings for everything imaginable. loads of homosexuals in this one. gender commentary, fairytale allusions, a lot of kids who are having a hard time growing up and moving beyond their pasts. sword lesbians.

flip flappers

the problematic favourite, in that there’s at least one uncomfortable sexualised shot each episode (roughly speaking; some have none and one has even more, unfortunately), so be warned. but at its heart flipflap is about repressed cocona going on adventures with outgoing and expressive papika, and their exploration of various fantastical lands/inner worlds of people they meet. hugely inventive and pretty, and a core thread is cocona discovering she’s gay.

aoi hana (‘sweet blue flowers’)

the comfort lesbian show, with not a romantic relationship at its heart, but a friendship between two childhood friends who meet again, both of whom are gay (though only one realises this during the show’s run, as it’s based on a manga). one of them dates an upperclassman at her school, and there’s various gay and bi side characters. it’s just very wholesome, lovingly animated, sweet and sometimes painful stuff.

bloom into you

I controversially do not care that much for bloom into you, but as the best, high-production, non-skeevy yuri show in years - that is based on a manga by a woman - it’s worth mentioning. late-bloomer girl dreams of romance, though has never felt it, and finds affinity with a girl who similarly is disinclined to date. that is, until said girl says she fancies her. genuinely moving exploration of developing gay identity at times, only downside is my personal disinterest in the black haired girl. some weird ‘heightened’ moments that feel inauthentic and titillating do arise, but it’s very few - to the point where some would disagree with me on my reading of it, I’d imagine.

sailor moon

the bits which the lesbians are in, etc. it’s a classic. I haven’t watched all of it myself because I don’t care much nor do I have nostalgia for sailor moon, but it’s one of the most notable examples of a butch/masc lesbian in anime, so that’s nice.

o maidens in your savage season

nerdy teenage girls who are part of a literature club make it their quest to discover sex and dating, in various ways (unfortunately, not all of them dealt with well… teacher/student foolery that is fortunately abandoned before it gets worse but is nonetheless handled with mixed results, imo). mostly though it’s hilarious, sweet, silly, and there’s a gay girl in it, but I won’t spoil which one. adults predating on children is also handled much, much better in another of the show’s storylines, and I do appreciate it for trying to tackle that difficult subject matter.

oniisama e (‘dear brother’)

an oldie, based off a shoujo manga by one of the greatest (riyoko ikeda). there’s a central relationship to root for (better articulated in the manga), but it’s mostly just what if we were messy depressed lesbians at an all-girls school and we were also melodramatic and mean as hell.

revue starlight

what if we were at an all-girls dramatic arts school and engaged in utena-like duels to become the top performer? main implicitly gay couple with canonic side gay couples. it’s quite cute. also worth watching if you like takarazuka in any way (prestigious all-female japanese theatre troupe), because the main conceit of the school is very much based on that idea.

the gay-themes section:

sound! euphonium (season one)

in which director naoko yamada’s awesome legacy of writing lesbians and then saying “who’s to say though, ha ha” continued (she did it already with a side character in tamako market). this one is known as the gaybait to end all gaybait, but hear me out: the first, and best, season, is not only a fantastic self-contained story with many great characters and plot points, but it’s main character is undoubtedly lesbian-coded and even has a love interest you can argue about. frankly I think she’s gay-coded throughout the whole show (even when she dates a guy for two minutes), but this feels very “I wanted to focus on this compelling relationship between two female characters but the adaptation’s success meant we had to revert back to the source material in later seasons”. what we got from this is perhaps my favourite lesbian anime of all-time, following utena.

a place further than the universe

this show is about four girls who join an expedition to antarctica, and what if I told you they’re all great, believable dorky teenage characters, and they exist in a well-written and thematically satisfying show… and there’s nice lesbian implication between one of our adult female protagonists and her old (deceased; not a spoiler) friend who was the main teen girl’s mother. there’s some sad here, obviously.

puella magi madoka magica

the well-known, much beloved deconstruction of the magical girl genre is also pretty gay, as it happens (so gay in fact it started a trend of gay-coded pink+black magical girls). it’s not a particular favourite of mine, but it’s visually one of the most notable anime productions ever, so it’s well worth seeing just for that.

NANA

the 2000s manga+show about the two twenty-year-olds who meet on a train and discover they’re both called nana is also pretty gay! to the point where there are heated fandom debates about nana komatsu’s (pink one) possibly being a lesbian. they both have many relationships with guys, but it’s their bond that forms the heart of the show, and the bisexuality (or, who knows, homosexuality) of the leads is pretty undeniable. to the point where you’ll get blasted on the nana subreddit if you try and suggest otherwise.

the wild-card section:

keep your hands off eizouken!

this is a show about three oddball girls who start a club to create anime, but have to pose as the film club instead for various reasons. it’s not even subtextually gay, I just personally think that all three of the leads are gay and the whole thing feels like a very female-centred creative endeavour. hugely fun watch, and very high production values. you wouldn’t regret seeing it.

skip & loafer

these two you see here are side characters. this show is actually about mitsumi, the greatest female protagonist of this kind of shoujo-esque slice of life show, who moves from the countryside to tokyo for high school. here she meets many a misfit, including the pretty blonde and the nerd girl who have undeniable chemistry and form one of the most popular pairings in the show. it’s just a good time.

chihayafuru

I’d get in trouble for this, because the primary romance factor in the show is a famed heterosexual love triangle with chihaya at its centre and her two male childhood friends at the side. but go with me on this. chihaya is oblivious to romance and feminine socialisation, she is obsessed with a card game and with her equally dorky dark-haired rival… she’s anime’s greatest autistic lesbian lead. and you get more than what you pay for, because the two boys I mentioned? a lot of gay stuff going on there too.

the big-screen-cinematic section:

the adolescence of utena

revolutionary girl returns in the sequel of a lifetime, slightly older (sixteen, say) and gayer than ever, to escape this place with the love of her life. cue the impromptu dance sequence (with stars and rose petals)!

liz and the blue bird

the naoko yamada directed gay cinematic universe continues with a gorgeous film starring two of the side characters from sound! euphonium’s second season (not necessary to watch beforehand). that means it has plausible deniability whilst being so crazily gay it’s almost some kind of joke. this is a highly detailed, laser-focused character study of two girls in their high school band club and their ever more strained relationship. yamada never misses.

the summer

this is korean! it’s about two girls who meet at school and start dating in secret, what happens as they grow up and move to seoul, and how their relationship changes and strains when met with the conservatism of contemporary korean society. it was sweet and like aoi hana above for japanese girls, felt pretty frank to the experiences I’d imagine young korean lesbians might have.

puella magi madoka magica: rebellion

if you’re a fan of the show, you probably don’t talk about this movie. sure, it’s a visual feat, sure, it’s insanely entertaining, but it’s also frustrating and upsetting and potentially undermines the neatness of the original as a perfectly-crafted story. BUT. kyouko/sayaka becomes all but canon in it, and everything else aside, that’s all that really matters. but you should definitely watch the show beforehand.

Movies I watched this Week #119 (Year 3/Week 15):

Victim (1961) is a landmark Neo-Noir about closeted barrister (And actor) Dirk Bogarde, an important moment of queer film history. It helped change public attitudes about homosexuality, which was still illegal in the UK. It’s also a engaging and well-made thriller about blackmail and oppression. 8/10.

🍿 

Azor, my 11th movie from Argentina, was one the best films I’ve seen this year! A tense and subtle thriller, a debut feature by a Swiss filmmaker, it tells of a discreet private banker from Geneva who arrives in Buenos Aires 1980 together with his wife. He needs to reassure his very wealthy clients about the continual services of his bank, as well as to find out what happened to his partner who had disappeared without a trace. The ominous background of the Junta’s dirty war and the lack of any action, makes this an understated study of evil, a masterpiece about the sense of danger. 100% on Rotten Tomatoes - and 10/10 from me.

(Returning to my first week of these reviews nearly 2.5 years ago:) The kooky screwball comedy Intolerable Cruelty. Why it is considered a minor Coen Brothers masterpiece when it’s so funny and crisp? With surprising Simon & Garfunkel references sprinkled throughout, goofy characters names (Gus Petch, Rex Rexroth, Freddy Bender and asthmatic hit man Wheezy Joe), a 100% quotable dialogue, and non-stop glamorous and hilarious action, it’s 9/10 again in my book.

“You want tact, call a tactician. You want an ass nailed, you come see Gus Petch”.

3 about young women’s sexual awakenings, all by female directors:

🍿 Girl Picture, a frank coming of age Finnish story of 3 late-teen young women looking for love and sex in the city, directed by an experienced female director. But in spite of their explicit talk about blow jobs and the sprinkling of American slang in their everyday speech, it was tedious and banal. 2/10. 

🍿 My Favorite Fabric, my first unexpected film from Syria (!), a patriarchal and unforgiving society. A defiant young woman rents a room in the neighbor's brothel where she can dream about her sexual desires and identity. And all that during the first few months of the frightening uprising of the 2011 Arab Spring.

It would have been just an another exotic coming of age story in an oppressive and harsh milieu, except for her poetic flights of imagination, as she descents into a symbolic world of fantasy. She becomes a witch, a story teller in a reality turning into a nightmare. Grim and depressing - 5/10. 

🍿 From an epic r/truefilm thread about ‘Female Directors’, Take care of my cat, (2001) a masterful coming-of-age Korean debut by the then-young Jeong Jae-eun. A sad and wonderful story about 5 girlfriends from the industrial port city of Incheon who struggle to adjust to life in the cold ‘real’ world after graduating from high-school, while also maintaining the friendships with each other. So that Teetee, the stray kitten which one of them receives as a birthday present at the beginning of the film, move hands from one to the other, as each of their fortunes deteriorate. (Photo Above).

A unique and mature vision, nearly in a New Wave style. 8/10.

Bonus: ‘Air Doll’ Bae Doona plays one of the friends!

First watch: Elia Kazan’s A face in the crowd, the debut performances of both Andy Griffith and Lee Remick. An early critique of celebrity-fueled influencers in American mass media and television, examining the marriage between entertainment and politics. A charismatic drifting bum found in a country jail becomes the populist 'Demagogue in Denim; of the 1950′s. Based on the Father Coughlin’s and Billy Graham’s of the past, and paving the way to loathsome grifters like Reagan, Limbaugh, and donild drumpf.

‘Austin Tucker’ X 2:

🍿 “... What would you say for a cup of coffee? - Baa-aah...

After re-visiting the fantastic ‘Marriage Story’ last week, I wanted to see Two for the road for which it was compared. But this tale of a husband and wife on the edge of divorce aged poorly. Very 60′s, with annoying non-linear flash-backs to 5 French trips, each with another snazzy convertible, and snappy fake dialogue. The fact that Albert Finney alpha-male character was a pompous asshole, didn’t help. Featuring William Daniels in an irritating role. 2/10.

🍿 Another re-watch of The Parallax View, a perennial conspiracy favorite, and one the most paranoiac surveillance thrillers from the 70′s. Post JFK and MLK and Bobby Kennedy and all the many others assassinations of that time. Masterful Gordon Willis style, with the 5-minute brainwashing montage, and the famously eery soundtrack.

I’ll always remember the cautious way Austin Tucker comes to meet Joe from behind the boat, shuffling his feet in the most distinct way... 10/10.

🍿 “I wanna smoke a Molly with you”...

Long Shot, another one I keep watching again and again and again, and I wonder why: It’s a sweet rom-com with a perfectly-calibrated first act, most glamorous former babysitter Charlize Theron who falls for a a guy who’s definitely below her pay grade, and who drinks refrigerated Tequila from a ziplock bag, and a great Boyz II Men sound. But really why?

(Also, Bob Odenkirk’s POTUS here is just a clown). 10/10.

🍿 My first and only by Kevin Smith, Zack and Miri Make a Porno (actually the second, after the 2021 bio-documentary ‘Clerk’). In which we first had to tolerate the thought of Seth Rogen in a (non-masturbatory) sexual role. He just doesn’t seem the romantic lead type. So funny or not, you have to coat it with as much crudeness and porn jokes as possible. Also the 3rd act was just too too obvious. 3/10.

John Houseman's final film, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! still a goofy slapstick spoof. Also with the star of ‘O.J.: Made in America’, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Pahpshmir, and Elvis’s wife.

After the glowing Vox review (”The best Netflix show in recent memory”), and because I’m an Ali Wong fan, I binged on her new Road Rage series Beef. But there were very few moments there that didn’t disappoint: her masturbating with the gun, her hot sex with Steven Yuen’s young brother, and the last episode where they ingest hallucinogenic elderberries and bond with each other. The rest should have been cut into a 2 hour movie. 2/10.

Money Shot: The Pornhub Story, the new documentary about Mindgeek, the Canadian porn conglomerate. Like all Netflix products is was shallow and unoriginal, but still highlighted issues of privacy, consent and free speech. It gave way too much time to far-right, evangelical organizations (Like NCOSE, MIM) which hate all sex and try to ban porn all together “..The attacks on pornography is an attack on sexuality, women...” 4/10.

The Big Bus, an obscure, forgotten disaster parody, supposedly a dumb comedy spoof, but unlike ‘Airplane’ and ‘Top secret’, utterly unfunny. 1/10.

🍿 ‘True Lies’ and ‘The Bourne Identity’ are some of my few favorite action movies, so I thought that Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which Doug Liman did after ‘Bourne would compare. It’s strange that only 20-30 years later, most regular Hollywood movies from that time are unwatchable. And not only because Vince Vaughan was in it.

🍿 Focus, a “sophisticated” action “comedy” with conman Will Smith and grifter Margot Robbie, which tries to be smart, slick and fast, and ends up being shallow and boring.

This is their 1st interaction in canon. I'll keep it quick, one's a serial killer and one's a vigilante, Takao Hiyama and Yomotsu Hirasaka respectively. As you can see, Yomotsu has a silly drip with an eyeball looking mask :3 He knows fashion so well. (He's blind) And Takao has pretty long hair,,, but everything else about him is ugly 👎👎 Both are old men in their early to mid 39's I'd say. I say old because they are 😋

They are both goofy losers with big dumb!! I don't care that Takao's a teacher and he got a degree, he didn't get a fucking degree in [Living!] Bro a serial killer and he died first!! Loser !! 💥💥

Anyway so keeping plot short again. Um. God wanted Survival Game He put 12 people to kill each other! In this Survival Game God wanted it to be funkier so he gave everyone diaries that predict the future! FUTURE DIARY ROLL CREDITS

So Takao has the Murder Diary, and Yomotsu has the Justice Diary 🤗 Most of the Diary Keepers have phones as diaries, like Takao, but there are a few exceptions. Like Yomotsu, without sight, he instead has a voice recorder to have his diary on!! Coolio!!

Anyway so um. Funny plot happens after the other 10 are dead and the two MCs get to go to an alternate world 2 years prior the Survival Game, so everyone's alive. So butterfly effect happened and Survival Game no happen! (MN is stupid so yeah you don't need more context <3 )

So, in this alternate universe, the two finally meet and Yomotsu pins Takao down :3 🤗

And the 2nd scene they interact has Takao in prison, and Yomotsu visiting him. Takao tells Yomotsu to get a hobby 💥💥

So like,, they're both such similar people yet so opposite... They're like a chess board... (for lack of a better comparison)

As a big delusional guy, I stared at the 2 mins of screentime Takao had and inferred a few things:

He has no friends

He has no family

He has no bitches

He is antisocial but due to his environment he can put up a friendly/professional front when needed

He is a loser

He is stupid, perhaps able to be cunning at times, but he is stupid

He died 5 times btw (everyone died only 2 times but this guy. This guy.)

He killed himself 3 times (accidentally)

Are these true? Yes because I say so and are you gonna disprove me? You can't 🫵💥💥 I know canon when I get visions of it in my brain.

Now for Yomotsu and his 6 minutes of screentime, I have more backup with my claims!

He has no friends

He has no family

He has no bitches

He has crippling depression

He is hanging on by a fucking thread

He is desperate for approval/acceptance

He does have passions for justice as it is, but another reason he is a vigilante is so people can see value in him

Also he's neurodivergent he has/had a hyperfixation on Kamen Rider and Super Sentai he is autism ever okay...

He has just such a way with words... He talks so funny

When he had his first visitor in a long while, he offered them tea, and then kinda trauma dumped on them just instantly

Anyway so like he relies on justice/vigilante work to feel self worth, but oops no one appreciates his good deeds... RIP bozo

Anyway yeah society um hates him 💥💥

So yeah he opened up that convo with “I don't know if Justice is real anymore” and just went on to dump his problems on a visiting imp (dw bout that)

He needs therapy so bad

He's like a people pleaser kinda,,,

Also in that alternate world I mentioned where he puts Takao in prison. Like. Dude's gotta be really desperate for social interaction (and a friend) if he's gonna visit someone he put in prison,,, He's such a fucking loser 💥

Also from his actions he has implied(?) suicidal ideation. This man is big sad okay.

He had the option to attempt to avoid his death. Future Diaries allowed to warn their owner that another Diary Keeper would kill them in the future. So they get a [Dead End] warning.

But instead of trying to avoid it. He goes on a suicide mission to take down his target.

He said he would die, in the name of justice. What an honourable dude

So the justice was attempted child murder- 🤗 IT WAS JUSTIFIED OKAY

But he got killed before he could blow the child up so. RIP bozo. Then again the child died shortly after him anyway so. Justice?

Also this guy is like God's 3rd favourite

He was built like an MC okay

I know he was one of God's favourite, he gave Yomotsu an advantage

Most of the other Diary Keepers only have their future telling ability, however, Yomotsu has a little something more

He has hypnosis powers. OP as hell.

He was built to be the MC but God decided he liked a pathetic 14 year old more instead 💔

Mirai Nikki was popular enough to get a Visual Novel so I'm hoping to Sakae Esuno he gave my old men (there's more old men than just these two! Though these two are top blorbos 💙) some more screen time and lore.

Anyway so idk but there's like a trend or smthn to make VN character sprites bald,,, so ofc I had to do it first. And I took away Takao's long hair.

So um 💙 yeah. I also wrote a 9k word essay for them in another tournament,,, niche character tournament... I am a normal person with sanity 🤗🤗

Intro:

You sit at or hold your Wi-Fi-enabled device (laptop, tablet, computer, phone, whatever) with a glass of junior blood wine at hand. It’s the cheap shit because everybody knows you were piss poor broke before you were embraced, so why would undead life be any different? You sign into your VamVu (yeah, a play on vamp/vampire view) account located on the dark web. You catch up with some of your friends, thumb down a video by sociopolitical leftist pussified vampires which promoted allowing weres, shapeshifters, zombies, demons, and Magic Folk on the site, and thumb up one commenter’s chant of “keep VamVu bloodstained red.”

venom: let there be carnage is queer cinema BUT not because of symbrock. lots more below the cut! i'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this theory as well! warning that this is not well-written and represents how i'd explain it in a conversation, so it jumps around.

i think audiences conceptualize of queerness in media as being tied to relationships. characters are queer because they are seen interacting with people of the same gender in a queer sense, romantically or sexually. that’s the language of queer representation in most mainstream film/tv. you know someone is queer because they are with someone who is also queer.

i think a definition of queer representation must be expanded to include queerness that has no pairing involved. because, if you are queer, you know that queerness doesn’t have bounds. when you’re not in a relationship, you don’t just stop being queer. there is some part of your processing that still filters the world through that queerness. it is like a texture or a tone. and that interacts with other elements of identity (like race or gender or religion) but certainly, i think most queer people could identify the threads of their queerness in their every day lives. threads that are not necessarily exclusively about being with another person. sometimes you are alone and queer, believe it or not.

that being the case, i think media can provide really interesting metaphors for those threads and feelings and tones. to illustrate this idea, i usually point to nomadland (dir. chloe zhao) where there is zero onscreen explicit acknowledgement of homosexuality. there are no queer relationships and there are no signs that queerness exists within the universe of the film as an identity. but, maybe it is still queer cinema. because it features a woman who is content to be lost in a hostile vastness, because it features a woman who plunges deeper and deeper into her own alienation. that splicing and wandering, maybe that is lesbian representation, is my point. maybe all those deep, quiet, tone-like feelings being played onscreen can be claimed as queer, if they feel queer. and to me, they absolutely do. that sense of connection and disconnection and myth and loss are queer. i don’t really know how to explain it.

i think we can apply that to venom: let there be carnage. i posit, what if we interpret venom the character as a metaphor for queerness? this strange, otherworldly being who makes your body feel and exist in a way that is different from other people. what if eddie's interactions with venom could be read as a queer person's interactions with their own queerness? i think this metaphor introduces a lot of meanings to the venom universe that are significant enough to flesh out an argument for venom: let there be carnage's inclusion in queer film canon.

to run with two examples, we have the theme of discovery and the theme of shame, two things which you find in a lot of film where queerness is text. let's go with easy classics maurice and carol. (huge caveat that yes, queer cinema does have problems with whiteness/transness/prestige politics. yes, it is problematic that these examples are probably more widely seen than like the watermelon woman or after sex or the wedding banquet, but bear with me.) in these two films, you have a consistent pattern of discovery and shame: characters discover parts of themselves that bring feelings of empowerment and pleasure. but then, characters are ashamed of those same parts of themselves, and this brings on disruption and self-loathing. this cycle spirals through the plot and creates difficulty, heartbreak, and intrigue for the characters. such as in maurice, where the titular character struggles with a feeling of euphoria when he finds his same-sex match in clive durham. but he also experiences a deep depression, which he seeks medical help to "fix." the book and movie both address this at length: the dual promise and destruction of queerness, which is in our terminology, the discovery and the shame.

in carol, this plays out mostly as an undercurrent of carol's life. we see that she has already discovered this part of herself, already been through the cycle of discovery and shame. now, she seeks to lure terese into the discovery while holding off the shame with love, support, and tenderness. in a way, the movie succeeds because it subverts the expectation that shame follows discovery, in that the age gap between carol and terese provides legitimate grounds for carol's stewardship of terese's queer discovery, such that it can be without shame. (carol experiences homophobia, but that homophobia does not create shame. it creates panic and uncertainty, but not shame.)

these themes being so characteristic of queer cinema that their flouting is noticeable, or perhaps even progression in the genre (note that maurice came out in 1987, carol in 2015) means that reading them as queer in venom is not by any means a stretch. they are basically tropes. and one could argue that movies and tv may employ tropes without intending to follow through on genre, but they are so integral and consistent in the two venom films that i don't think this really holds any weight. maybe we'd be playing the discovery/shame cycle for laughs and shits if venom was temporarily inside eddie, as a quirky subroutine of the main plot. but both movies are based around this principal relationship; let there be carnage even more so. therefore, this can't just be "employing tropes," since it's literally the main point of conflict and interest in the story.

okay, so if queer film is about queerness not about relationships, and two big themes for the genre are this dynamic of discovery and shame, then how does discovery and shame work in venom? if the argument is that venom: let there be carnage is queer film? because, to reiterate, venom the character is a metaphor for queerness?

simply, i think the discovery and shame that a character might ordinarily experience towards queerness as a concept, eddie experiences at venom, as a moving, breathing, literally fluid thing. and this is interesting because venom is a character, so venom is sentient, and can argue right back. the movies seem to argue (perhaps unintentionally), if venom is queerness, than queerness demands to be loved. queerness demands to be taken care of, to be paid attention to, to be respected. queerness demands to be seen. and it's possible to fight against this, as eddie so often does (EX. physically wrangling venom away from interacting with the world, telling venom internally to "shut up," obscuring venom from past heterosexual romantic interests) but ultimately, the film says, with a weirdly beautiful sense of hope, all of this fighting will lose. your queerness will win, and it'll win because you start to love it. you start to nurture it.

as a metaphor, the film takes on this absurdly loving note towards queerness, which is quite poignant, actually. because venom is both the object of eddie's queer love (textually) and a manifestation of eddie's queerness as a sentient being (subtextually). but this is something that i think we can observe actually in the real world. perhaps not to this degree, with this extent of mindfuckery and dual-consciousness closed circuitry, but in the sense that first partners can literally represent this for people. of course, they are also loved as individuals, but they can be portals to actualization for queer people who have never experienced reciprocal queer affection. and i don't think this is bad or evil or "using" other people, it's just something that i think people unwittingly fall into when they get to this point. because again, the love they feel for that other person as a person is a real. but maybe, also, they love a little what they represent. which is not malicious, and can be empowering for both parties, i think.

when i read the film in this way, i feel like the meaning of it becomes so much more heartfelt. like it stops being stupid and becomes something that is actually worth watching and experiencing, as a queer film viewer, or as someone just generally interested in queer film and its internal logics/mechanics. i don't know, i'm like getting weepy about it. but i don't know what other film from recent memory has such a powerful message about queerness, which is that it might be scary or strange, but it loves you back, in a sense. and it's truest expression only wants to keep you alive. and that, because it loves you, you should love it. like, that's sort of beautiful.

do i think the writers intended any of this? absolutely not. maybe unintentionally they were picking up on some of these beats, but perhaps they didn't intend for it to morph into a genre-specific film. but it is. and now we get to enjoy it!

If Stolas died, if would leave a lot of threads hanging indefinitely and leave people generally unsatisfied.

If Stolas and Stella patched up their marriage... I'd see it as possible if Stolas and Stella were Hazbin Hotel characters, because that has set up a definite theme of redemption and 'is it possible to improve as a person, even in Hell'. I think it could be a really good arc in Hazbin-- unfortunately, this is not Hazbin Hotel and those 'become a better person' themes aren't as set-up so it'd feel... not quite forced, but completely out of left field, like if several decades of Pokemon anime ended with Ash becoming a successful accountant. Like good for him but literally nothing in this show was setting up for this.

Like we've been focusing on Blitzo and Stolas, ESPECIALLY Blitzo's end of the relationship, a great deal more, so if we suddenly switch to Stolas patching up said relationship on his own in two episodes... it'd be weird? Maybe if season 1 finale has Blitzo and Stolas get on more communicateive terms, and with these new talking skills in season 2 Stolas goes forth and tries to divorce with Stella on more neutral terms that'd be more? Narratively fitting or just make more sense, but it's probably more likely she'll either become a recurring villain, possibly representing the demon elite, or break the pattern of villains so far by having her die in the season finale.

i mean i'm also 99.9% sure stolas is gay. there is not a straight bone in his body. a bonafide homosexual

i don't think stella will die either. i think we'll be getting a pretty messy divorce instead; her death would be a shock to octavia at least but it would also be "easy" if you understand what i mean? and stolas isn't getting through this series without his share of major bumps in the road that owl is going to get DEPRESSED let me tell you.

i've already said multiple times i think stella is most important in the narrative as a force for the status quo. i think she could receive some development beyond that but i'd imagine it would mainly be as a foil for stolas; she might feel trapped too but unlike him she embraces it and clings to what she has instead of trying to change things, the problem is that her ideology actively impedes on the freedom of anyone who falls outside the status quo. i'm fine with her staying flat OR receiving some development as long as either is done well and if the latter is pursued, it feels earned.

My name is Agustina, I’m 27 years old. I’m a nonbinary, queer, latinx person, parent of a 4 year old, non-verbal authistic child. I suffer from depression and anxiety.

I’m 9 thousand kilometers away from the woman I love.

I’m not a victim. I am a minority. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

I started watching Supernatural in 2015, you know, being a stay-at-home parent, who dropped her career and her job to live the first years of their child, there wasn’t much I could do in my free time but to watch a show. I caught a few episodes of season 11 on tv and then I decided to start from zero. I always acknowledged how problematic it was in terms of representation, but always saw small threads of light filtering in the message it sent, recognizing how its writers were trying to shed a little light, creating a jenga tower of storylines and new characters, only to be thrown away by poor, useless deaths and the erasure of said characters.

Since my first run on season 1 I related to Dean. I saw myself on him. (I will never be as brave and cool as him tho, never ever, but his personality traits, some of his family issues, his self worth issues, his loneliness, his unaddressed childhood trauma, his growth in a circle of violence, his reticence to address his feelings until he explodes?... Yeah. There are days where my girlfriend makes fun of me saying “Ok Dean”). I kept looking up to Dean in his geekiness, in his way he always put his life on the line to protect the people he loves and put them always first… even in the supernatural side of the storyline, he still was profoundly human and abnegated to the people in his life. Also because I’m deeply in love with Castiel but that’s another subject. Thanks to this show, I’ve found people in my own country who now I recognize as my family beyond SPN, who helped me accept myself the way I am, who are always there for me. My found family, my chosen family. Because family don’t end in blood, because family cares about you, not only for what you can do for them, because that’s what all of us have in common, and why this show resonated as strongly as it did for us. That’s why we found each other and ourselves in the process, in a circle of love, support, non-judgement and willingness to find a family in ourselves when our own blood relatives ignored us, abused us, refused to recognize us. We’ve found love and family. I’ve found the woman with whom I wanna spend the rest of my life with because of this show.

That’s the power of this story. I know my small circle is not the only one who lived this, who continues to live it.

I can talk about this forever, but there’s something I wanna talk about specifically here. When the ending aired.. what I felt was… like a bucket of cold water was thrown over my head. You know when your parents come home, or call you and give you the devastating news that someone you love died? that exact feeling. The adrenaline, the heartbreak, the feeling of loss. 

The whole season 15 and 15 years of storyline were completely overturned. The misogyny the writers tried so hard to erase, it was there again, in a faceless woman who was supposed to represent the person a lead chose to spend the rest of his life with, reduced to a lilac dress, a blurry face and a uterus. We never seen acknowledged the existence of Eileen Leahy, Sam Winchester’s romantic interest since season 11, his perfect partner whose disability wasn’t an obstacle for her to be a badass hunter. (BUT COVID!! <- No. Eileen Leahy appeared in two episodes this season without Shoshannah being on set: Last Holiday and Despair. If they wanted to include her, they would have. They didn’t because they don’t give a FUCK). Sam Winchester is an academic, a witch, a leader, a powerful hunter, a kind human being, and the ending that was given to him was living an unfulfilled life, dying at a ridiculous young age, having a son only to replace his dead brother? It was sad. Sammy deserved better. He always did.

My beloved Dean Winchester, who I love so deeply, who taught me a lot about myself, about life, love, family, about *ejem* VICIOUS CIRCLES and the power of breaking free from them, of learning to embrace one’s self, our real tastes, our real identity, to come out of a shadow of being reduced to someone’s caretaker instead of having an identity of our own, to spend life loving family the healthy amount.. well, he was killed in a ridiculous way, on a milk run of a hunt.  After being eager and ready to kill himself so many times. After all he’s been through, after saying he’s good with who he is, after considering retirement, after standing up to his dad, saying he already has a family, ready to cut the “I’m Okay” bullshit, address his feelings, his trauma, don’t letting those define him. He deserved better. He always wanted a family, he always wanted to break free from the version of himself he was created to be, “daddy’s blunt little instrument” (For fuck’s sake, he even said it in the same show 10’ before dying, man. If we don’t keep living, the sacrifice the people who died for us did, was for nothing). Are you telling me this man really would refuse his brother to call an ambulance? Refused his brother to get the first aid kit even knowing it was more serious than his brother thought? He was ready to live. He CHOSE life, and at the end his choice was stripped away from him. He clearly was a bisexual man and they never explored it.

Cas. The misfit. The fish outside of the water. Ambiguous gender and sexuality. Finally makes a homosexual declaration of love after all he’s been through. After being brainwashed, used, suicidal, isolated. After telling Sam and Dean he loved them more than once, that they meant everything for him. After confessing he’s been in love with Dean since he pulled him out of hell…. Was erased from the story. Erased, literally. Two emotionless mentions aren’t enough for a 12 year old family member who pulled both brothers out of hell, who died for them more than once, who until 2 seasons ago he didn’t even feel like he belonged there ‘cause he was never told he was loved. No one ever told him “I love you” back. Not Jack, not Sam, not Dean, not Mary. No one. Ever. And still, he died for love. And with his death, he was erased from the finale, being that the first finale Castiel wasn’t in since his appearance on the show. He deserved better. 

All roads lead to Rome and you know what we got at the end of that road? a bottomless pit of NOTHING. The building up towards a different end isn’t just in s15. It’s been there for years and years. And if you watch the show, you see it at plain sight.

 

Sam Winchester hurried to die to reunite with his brother in heaven EVEN WHEN HE SPENT 30 MORE YEARS WITH A WIFE AND A KID he only wanted to die to go back to his brother? it’s insane, it’s ridiculous. That’s not what the show has been about for seasons now. SEASONS. The road was paved towards a healthy brotherly bond, each brother living their future the way they wanted, finally breaking free from the curse John dropped on Dean that Sam’s destiny was in his hands. No no. What was that? Did it ever happen? Was it a fever dream? They really destroyed everything in 38 minutes of the finale? 

Stupid. 

Representation is important, stories are important. They change lives. You know how it changed mine? After I saw Jonathan Van Ness coming out as non-binary, I started to realize how I never called myself "a woman, a girl" or anything like that, how my "female presenting" aesthetic changes drastically depending on how I feel when I wake up  how I always called myself a "person", no gender involved. I realized I was a non-binary person even after becoming a parent. Thanks to Jonathan Van Ness. Thanks to seeing a person like her being unapologetically herself. 

Representation matters. 

It matters. 

It helped my mom understand me when I was 13 and had a girlfriend. It helped my dad educate himself about trans identities. It helped my sister understand about her demisexuality. It helps break circles of ignorance and stereotypes. It helps people process what these characters wanna tell, and realize they're human beings above it all. We suffer, we laugh, we grieve. We love. We exist. 

Supernatural missed a chance to be a historical show in terms of representation. And it breaks my heart.  I cant believe they decided to erase Dean's sexuality, to erase Castiel after saying loud and proud he's in love with a man, to erase Eileen whose disability only was a disadvantage when they KILLED HER in the most ableistic way in s11, to never show Charlie and her girlfriend again, that they decided to make God bisexual AND a villain, thay they decided to turn the only regular non-binary character of color into the villain too (Billie).

I'm still grieving.

This is why "a stupid show" is so important for me, and for lot of people like me. Cause representation can change lives. Stories can change lives. It certainly changed mine, and I'm not the only one. 

Don't let anyone tell you you're just a butthurt fan because you're suffering this ending. Every one of us have a story and this is mine. All of us are valid, our feelings are valid. And we'll get through this eventually

I am probably never going to be a big fan of the genre, but it was a welcome palate cleanser after some really depressing and emotionally (as well as mentally) taxing reads. The story was completely predictable, at times a little slow and dull, but I liked the characters, the Latinx representation and the wholesome feeling the book has throughout. And that cover is gorgeous.

If I should rate it for the educational value - educational as in getting a telling glimpse into a common mind of a common man in the Imperial Russia of the 19th century mostly - the rating would be high. If I should rate it for the literary value and quality of the included texts, it would be very low. Naturally, the excellent and interesting writing of the period has found its recognition (we have all heard of or read Tolstoy and Pushkin etc), and these are the scraps of what we might call "folk artistry" where the "art" part is really the least of the author´s concern. Many of the included text make a reader of today uncomfortable with its sexism, xenophobia, racism and antisemitism so I would advise some caution if you choose to read them. In any case, an interesting collection for anyone vested in researching the period.

This book is a delight of storytelling and plot gradation. Set in England during the time of Napoleon and Lord Wellington, it wonderfully combines the real historical characters and events with elements utterly other-worldly. And thus we see that Napoleon was defeated, among other things, by the "English" magic. The folklore of Great Britain is the basis for the rest of the plot and the source which the two magicians - Strange and Norrell - study and use to do their magic. The book has the social observance of custom and human flaws as penetrating and humorously presented as any Jane Austen novel yet at the same time Susanna Clarke conjures up scenes of complete desolation, terror and bleakness when she needs to. This book does many things at once and does them very, very well, no plot thread is useless and everything ties together in the end. Considering the length of the novel, it certainly takes you on a journey, starting off slow but being all the more rewarding to those who persevere. Just the ending I wished a bit different. For even though it makes complete sense, it was not as satisfying as I wanted it to be.

Geniální dílo Michelangela Caravaggia jsem objevila poměrně nedávno a byla jsem zcela nadšená. Tento komiks si jistě zaslouží ocenění za výtvarnou stránku a tím, že dýchne vším tím ošklivým, v čem Caravaggio žil, aniž by to narušilo jeho schopnost vnímat krásu. Odhalených zadnic a poprsí je na 120 stránkách bohužel tolik, že je jasné, že Milo Manara si je prostě nedokázal odpustit, ne proto, že by byly pro příběh nějak zásadní, což je vždycky problematické. Celkově zajímavě zpracovaný příběh o jednom nenormálním leč skutečně talentovaném umělci od jiného poněkud sexem-posedlého talentovaného umělce. Jen je vtipné, že mezi všemi těmi nahotinkami není jediný náznak Caravaggiovi bisexuality, ne-li přímo homosexuality. Na to asi Manara neměl dost odvahy.

This was possibly the most talked-about and hyped book of 2020, so it feels rather useless rehashing what it is about. I am just going to say I liked it. It was beautifully written (this was my first V.E. Schwab), I enjoyed the historical parts a great deal and even the contemporary setting had very charming moments (I tend to be bored to tears by anything set in a modern world, so this was a nice surprise). I only cannot decide if the ending was frustrating or clever.

A. This is a prod at optimism and Patton, as Janus doesn't believe the world is beautiful despite what is said by Parents, Teachers, and Priests. It's a dog eat dog world out there and if one tries to fit themselves into the box society has made for them, they will be fortunate sure, but will also be sent to an early grave once they're no longer needed.

B. Janus doesn't want Thomas to star in society's tv show but rather be the star of his own show. He wants Thomas to live as he wants and to be happy without trying to hold onto pointless optimism.

A. You can't trust anyone but yourself, as people have a tendency to push others down in order to get what they want or to gain some sort of control. So it's either you trust yourself and fight or you trust others and die.

B. Janus feels as though he and the others got the short end of the stick once Virgil got accepted and knows that they will have to fight in order to get a seat at the table.

This is Janus's spiel on how the world is burning and climate change is happening but no one seems to care.

B. Janus believes that no matter how "good" you are or pretend to be it won't matter in the end because any person can lie and say they're good when really they aren't. Plus, since your going to sin no matter what you do, what's the point of going to extreme measures to be "perfect" when your wasting time and energy to do so.

A. Janus knows what Thomas is capable of and wants him to hold the world in his hands and to be so much more. He also knows that Thomas is lost and is trying to provide some direction to him but is always ignored or turned away as a villain.

B. Janus is denying his feelings about Virgil and is hanging on by a thread. He knows that Virgil wanted so much more and despite everything Janus did for him, it wasn't enough. Now, Janus wants to talk to Virgil and doesn't want to be shut out without explaining his true feelings.

A. Janus wants Thomas to trust in him and know that he is safe as long as he is around.

B. As Deceit, it is easy to manipulate people and get them to do what he wants.

A. Janus sees through the lies Virgil is telling himself about being good and forcing himself to be better.

B. Janus knows he's worse than Virgil but also knows he isn't lying to himself in trying to be solely good. He's always going to have an element of darkness in him and unlike Virgil, he's learned to accept it.

A. No one cares about the others, as they're all seen as evil and villainous. So, whether there crying out or are being pushed down to the deepest darkest levels, no one will ever be there to save them.

B. Janus doesn't believe he's loved and or is needed since Thomas doesn't listen to him. He feels like he's falling down a plight of stairs and/or is crying out in pain, yet, Thomas and the Sides push him away without a second thought.

Criminal (Fiona Apple)

A. Janus is able to use his charisma to get what he wants and to be heard in some capacity.

B. He feels like a criminal and doesn't believe he can ever have redemption. He's sinned against so many of the Sides that he feels he can't ever be "forgiven" or "loved" because of what he's done. Yet, he does care about the Sides and Thomas, he just doesn't know how to show it without everything coming out wrong.

Change (Lana Del Rey)

A. Janus can feel a change within Thomas but knows it will take a while for it to come, as the Sides have yet to truly understand each other.

B. Janus is a tired snake boyTM and feels that change is coming but finds it meaningless and pointless. He wants to be more honest and to be able to hold Thomas up but at the same time is so bitter about everything he's losing his will to live. He wants to be here but at the same time doesn't understand what any of it's for. Besides, if no one cares about him then why should he care about himself?

A. Janus is starting to be accepted but is scared because he knows that things aren't that easy and everything can fall apart at the drop of a hat. He's trying to be better but because of his own duality, he knows he is only fooling himself into being good when in reality he may always be a villain.

B. Janus knows that he's wronged Virgil in some way but can't seem to make it better and everything has only gotten worse. He wants Virgil back and for them to forgive each other but knows he may not get what he wants without some significant change/understanding.

A. He is responsible for taking care of the others and as such tries to keep them from harm. Also, Janus knows that Thomas would never accept them and so decided to keep the others hidden away.

B. Janus is the protector and the leader of the others and is now starting to let the come out to play.

A. Janus misses Virgil a lot and likes to remember the adventures Remus, Virgil, Orange, and he used to have.

B. Janus is nostalgic for the past and misses the sweet bliss of youth, where the world was deemed beautiful in his eyes and filled with wonder. During a time where friendship and love were something, he could hold onto and not yet know that these memories would be nothing but lovely lies in the future.

Holy crap. So like with the previous post I was thinking about Fushigi Yuugi again and kind of checking up on what was up with Byakko Senki cuz I haven’t checked on it in awhile and it looks like it’s on hiatus right now and she’s working more on Arata Kangatari, which is cool cuz I thought she finished that, but I guess not and she just took a break to like finish Genbu and do Byakko or something.

But also I was scrolling through her Twitter to find that she is really into this Chinese movie “Legend of Luo Xiaohei” and so I was checking that out cuz so ironic that Japanese mangaka that got her big break writing manga about an ancient China setting is interested in a Chinese movie. So just looking through her Twitter thread and apparently she found out about Luo Xiaohei from watching a CM while watching Modao Zushi. LMAO It’s amazing, but this situation just feels like an ouroboros eating itself because I have a high suspicion that her work on Fushigi Yuugi imported into China back in the 90s was probably a huge influence on Chinese creators and artists to write their own stories about their culture and helped to popularize the xianxia and wuxia novel movements in more modern times. On top of that MXTX said she was inspired by a D. Gray-man fanfic and while she mentioned that title specifically, I think in the periphery Fushigi Yuugi itself and more recently Arata were probably an influence too. Growing up a number of my Chinese friends also said they got into anime overall because of Fushigi Yuugi because it was an anime and work from Japan about their culture and arguably done pretty damn well. 

In terms of the danmei movement as well, I’m pretty sure Fushigi Yuugi was included in what started the movement as the movement was influenced by Japanese BL that came in via Taiwan, and the beginning of Fushigi Yuugi had the whole thing between Nuriko and Hotohori even though that kind of went nowhere, Nuriko dies to everyone’s depression (I have several friends who refuse to watch the rest of the series after Nuriko dies because it’s not the same), and that whole ship goes off a weird deep end with Hotohori marrying a woman that looks like Nuriko. Also, the exact reasons for Nuriko being in the harem and all that. There was a whole lot of shipping in the 90s from Fushigi Yuugi and it was one of the first series that had a male cast that was almost entirely ikemen and I think the actual first reverse harem. A number of shows probably simultaneously popularized the female gaze in mainstream anime, but Fushigi Yuugi was definitely one of them. Like literally one or two years before there was a lot of manly men and guy’s guys kind of anime characters, but beautiful ikemen, no, not really. In 2021, there are some things about the series that are a bit problematic, but it’s influence on the world is pretty significant. It was one of the first shows I’d seen that had any kind of reference to homosexuality or transgender in it and although it’s not necessarily portrayed well, the fact that it was there and that Nuriko was such a beloved character it started a conversation and helped us to get to a time where the topics she represents can be more discussed. I’m actually not even sure what pronouns would be appropriate for Nuriko because of her reasons for what she did and in Japanese the pronoun problem is actually really easy to get around because you just don’t have a subject or speaking in 3rd person is totally normal. But still, without her the minds of thousands or even millions of fans around the world would not have been opened as early to LGBT topics. Her existence, even problematic as it might be, allowed people to consider and love a character of a different sexual orientation or gender identity than their own and just open their minds to just not being a homophobic, biphobic (cuz relationship with Miaka?), or transphobic piece of shit.

Then also Genbu Kaiden and Uruki’s powers. Yeah.... I mean, also kind of with the earlier discussion, the idea of dual cultivation I don’t recall even being brought up much before in most media, but such ideas were also banned and repressed in China at a certain point. Documentation shows it was more of an ancient practice that suddenly became known about again. The book I was talking about that has it more explicitly written is banned in China has its only original surviving copy in the Japanese National Library as it was one of the books brought to Japan by scholars escaping persecution in China and bringing with them books to escape one of the many episodes of mass book burning. According to my Chinese lit professor who had us read an English translation of that book as a part of our curriculum anyway. Supposedly the translator of said book had to go to Japan to read the original in order to write the translation. There’s apparently a number of ancient Chinese texts like that because book burnings were a thing at different points in Chinese history, so if you are a scholar of Chinese lit if you want a complete picture of your field for some texts you do actually have to come to Japan to do your research. But yeah, that power mentioned in that very book Watase-sensei gave to Soi, and also the story of Fushigi Yuugi takes place in that very library that contains that ancient copy of a banned and would have been lost to the world book. If you’re asking why a “dirty” book would be something a scholar would grab to save, ancient lit scholars do regard it as a rather well-written piece of literature even though the content of it is basically taboo.

But also the Fushigi Yuugi Suzaku Ibun game is a hot mess when it comes to this same issue because if you romance Nuriko you can save her from death and my friend Hikari said she wasn’t sure if she was happy about fucking with the universe like that. (I’m not either.) Nuriko’s death was such a huge impact on the story and everything. Also, notably, most of the Suzaku Shichiseishi died, but Nuriko had the LONGEST tribute. Like Chiriko and Mitsukake’s was like a tag on of a few minutes. Hotohori’s was too even, but it was addressed more in the later manga chapters the publisher pressured her to write and in the OVA series afterward.

Also, like Fushigi Yuugi other than the Neverending Story was one of the original sucked into a book holy shit how do I survive stories. Idk if SVSSS is influenced by it in that way, but it’s fair to draw the parallels because of the similar theme. It’s just canonically Taiitsu Shinjin is not behind the the system in the book and in a number of ways Shen Yuan is more competent than Miaka. Miaka gets a lot of shit though and when I re-watched FY a second time I actually found the gripes people generally have about it make up only a small part of the series. People just talk it up so much that it seems like a huge thing when it’s not. Plus the technical canon is only the original TV series because that’s where Watase wanted to end the story and that is an emotional rollercoaster that makes you cry so good. But like there’s some other kinds of parallels as well like how toward the end and like the last two episodes you hate Nakago up until the exact moment you find out why he’s an absolute asshole, and characters straight up criticizing him about how he’s an asshole the whole damn series just gives the same kind of feels that SY gave criticizing the original throughout SVSSS. Can’t say for sure, but Fushigi Yuugi has a lot of clout in a general sense.

But yeah, Watase-sensei said that she was really surprised by the animation quality of Chinese animation these days and she thought Japanese anime was going down in comparison. Same, yo. Same. But still, her work was probably a huge contributor to the movement that allowed MDZS to exist because her art is damn beautiful, Chinese influenced, and she had one of the first works in Asia to like bring the subject of LGBT issues into the mainstream after years of oppression from mostly Western influence because in pre-modern Asia no one gave a shit before and there’s a significant amount of classical novels that address some form of LGBT issues at least in Japanese lit and like even academic documentation that notes Confucius saying that doing it with a guy was better than with a woman. And the author of the work that probably was very influential to BL back in the 90s watches MDZS. She noted that there wasn’t any in the actual anime, which is true, but I think she helped that series to exist and she watches the anime so it’s kind of exciting.

I hope it influences her to go finish Byakko, but OMG I want her to finish Arata too because I like Arata. I should try to find time to read more of it because the anime is too short and the wiki descriptions of what’s happening are so damn confusing and incomplete.

It always bothers me when people use the word gaslighting incorrectly and weirdly enough, it’s always radical feminists. From one female to another female (since that is the only way you can have any empathy) I would ask you to stop stepping on victim of abuse and neglect who lived through gaslighting, by using that word and destroy its meaning. 

Gaslighting is when your abuser tell you that your abuse didn’t actually happen and that you might be crazy for thinking you did. It causes long lasting damages to the psyche and self trust of the person, especially when it’s done when they’re a child. It does not mean, having cognitive dissonance due to the fact that you doubt the way you perceive reality due to arguments made. Those are not the same.

Anyway, for the fourth time, I didn’t try to debunk her. I literally didn’t. I know you think in black and white and that you’re either against or pro something, but I don’t care about grey matter in transsexuals, and I don’t care about whether they have the same grey matter as their gender or not. It’s inconsequential, I live in the real world where people don’t talk about grey matter to decide whether someone exist as the gender they are. The same could be said about mental illnesses in general, or any neurodevelopmental sickness. We don’t put people through MRI to decide whether they’re actually depressed or not, we don’t check their grey matter to know about that either. 

Scientists research those stuff because they want to understand better how it works, not because they want to prove it exists. The existence proof has passed long ago when they realized people wanted to transition to the opposite sex. The current state of research try to understand why. You see that people are clinically depressed, before wondering what are the mechanism in that mental health issue. You don’t try to prove the people that are clinically depressed are actually really clinically depressed, it would be complete nonsense.

First, again that’s misunderstanding the scientific research. Especially on brain neurology, you will have studies showing your claim and the opposite. For example, in another field, homeopathy (which doesn’t work), you can find studies showing that it works. The reason we know it doesn’t work, is because for one that works (with double blind and everything), you have a dozen that doesn’t work, we have meta-analysis showing it doesn’t work. We don’t even have a dozen of studies on grey matter in transsexuals. We probably don’t even have a hundred of studies regarding brains of transsexual in general. It’s a very niche subject. Anyone having any kind of conclusion regarding specific brain parts (in one way or another), is, to me, not safe. You are free to believe however you want though, but this doesn’t make it factual.

Second, even the person in the other thread acknowledged that males and females had sexually dimorphic brains. The questions isn’t about brain sex, the questions is about whether transsexuals have a brain more alike the opposite sex or not. But again, that doesn’t matter, because even if it was actually disproven, that still wouldn’t mean transsexuals don’t have something different than cis people, which they do.

Which directly disprove that. But even without talking about studies, because again, it’s inconsequential, people do grow up as one sex and then transition and feel better as the opposite sex. Meaning it does exist, independently of whether you think they do or not.

You don’t know what delusion means. And if you have a mental illness that makes you feel better as the opposite sex and resist psychological treatment (to this day no study showed you could cure someone’s transsexualism through therapy, it has been tried, and transsexuals have been to conversion therapy too), then this is exactly what I’m claiming transsexualism is, and we both agree that it does exist. Biology = reality, neurological issues are biological realities.

This is the current state of what we actually do know: gender dysphoria is a state of being causing distress that is not curable through therapy and that make people who transition feel better in their body and mind, there is no proof of environmental factors contributing to it, but biological factors exist. That’s accurate independently of whether they truly have a brain similar the opposite sex or not.

Because again, my issue with her post was that she was specifically talking “as a scientist” to have better weight in her argument (which is in itself manipulative), making claim (that grey matter thing in transsexual was disproven) without having the tools or the knowledge to actually know. Because even scientists working on these fields don’t know. What I was criticizing was the misinformation she spread while claiming to be a scientist. I don’t know if she is factually wrong or not (nobody in the world knows, scientists who are working on specifically on these subject must be counted on one hand and probably don’t have a clear idea either), but if she is right, she is right for wrong reasons, and she used her title as a way to get leverage in the argumentation. Which is what I was criticizing.

This is the thing I have an issue with, but you are all so uninterested in science compared to your feminist ideology you don’t really care about epistemology or the scientific method, or the trust relationship between the public and scientists. But who’s surprised? Considering you yourself spread misinformation regarding sexual differences between males and females. Feminism thrives on it, so you actually have no reason to want people to be better informed.

I didn’t say she was bullying someone, I said she was mocking him, which she was. The other person is not claiming to be a scientist, and I don’t agree with his take either. But he at least doesn’t claim to be a scientist in neurology to give more weight to his arguments. 

Scientists talking out of their ass for studies and research, out of the scope of their field, really strikes my nerves because of reasons I developed in the other posts. What Is A Twin Flame?

We all are walking around this planet with relationships that nurture us, challenge us, and cheerlead us on our path for growth and evolution. Twin Flames or sometimes referred to as Twin Souls, are thought to be two parts of a soul that split and would incarnate into Earth or other realms to learn, grow, and experience duality. This does not mean you can’t have a relationship with your Twin; it’s just harder to get one going due to the template design.

The Chaser Twin ( the one who understands the relationship template) waits for the return of the runner, having the patience of a saint while working on self as each day goes by. This is not pinning away, it’s different. Only a Twin Flame can understand this process. The chaser is hoping that the runner wakes up to his/her spiritual call to enlightenment, while dealing with their own healing of past relationship wounds during this period. Twin’s may share only a brief moment in time, but one Twin keeps the faith that one day that their counterpart will reach out again. Months and months go by…and then… they call. It can feel like your being used as narcissistic ego supply when they come back into your life, and in some cases that’s what it is. This experience is called the Twin Flame runner/chaser dynamic. The runner and chaser dynamic is common in a Twin Flame relationship. The runner and chaser dynamic can change roles during the relationship. It happens when one partner may or may not be spiritually aware of what is happening in their own lives, and becomes very confused after meeting their counterpart, which can lead to the the runner escaping the confusion, by leaving abruptly. If you were to ask the runner “why they run?” They wouldn’t know, they’ll just feel that something is “off.” The running Twin does not understand what’s happening to them on a spiritual level, and feel like they’re losing control over their own emotions. They don’t know what to do, so their natural reaction is to run away, and chasing after them, only makes them run even more. Completing your own inner healing is crucial for this type of journey with a Twin counterpart to even have a chance to work out, and it requires patience, and doing all of the necessary work on self that must be completed. Not doing any inner work on self creates a continuous cycle of running/chasing with the Twin counterpart.

There is a certain fated element to this type of connection. The template of a Twin Flame seems very fated in many ways. It’s one of the most complicated; or most beautiful connections that we can experience in a lifetime; depending on how you want to view that. Some will question the validity of this type of connection, or think that it’s BS, however, the concept is present in many cultures and has been for thousands of years. Perhaps the story of Adam and Eve is the original Twin Flame connection. Other examples of Twin’s are; John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Linda and Paul McCartney, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Ron and Nancy Reagan and fictional characters Harold and Maude that depict Twin Flames with major age differences. In Chinese culture the name for Twin Flames is the red string of fate, it’s an invisible red cord, tied to those destined to be together. Time can stretch or tangle the red cord, but the thread can never be severed. We all have a other half. The term “finding our other half” comes from that concept. The term Twin Flame is derived from Greek mythology. It was said that humans were originally created with four arms and four legs, but Zeus, fearing their power, split them in half, sentencing them to spend the rest of their lives searching for their other half. Whether we believe in the concept of finding our other half or not, the theory of being split in half is a belief that reinforces the Twin Fame concept. The Twin Flame experience will be nothing like anything you will have been through before. You’ll learn the meaning of unconditional love for another human being and more compassionate love for yourself. How you choose to navigate the lessons you learn, messages you receive on your Twin Fame journey, is entirely up to you. How each person will process “signs” is also up to each person who experiences them. Each Twin has a different trajectory they’ll be on, and no two Twin couples will likely walk the same path in life; how could they due to the dynamic of meeting a Twin in the first place. However, one thing is certain, once awakened by such a connection, your life will never be the same.

Some have questioned the validity of the Twin Flame concept, calling it evil, the work of the Devil etc…I get it; unless you’ve experienced an abnormal amount of synchronicity surrounding another person, it’s hard to digest the concept of a fated meeting of your carbon copy with synchronic signs unless you’ve experienced this for yourself. Not everyone in life will need to go through this type of relationship design. I do believe in the Twin Flame model, because I‘ve experienced it and speak about my experiences. Like so many who’ve experienced this relationship model; it came with a spiritual awakening, finding one’s life purpose, and a heart full of pain because of the running Twin who was not emotionally available for you or anyone. This is the hardest part of the Twin Flame journey; it ain’t easy. A Twin Flame is one of the most challenging relationships to navigate. There is an inner knowing that comes with meeting that they are your Twin, but be-not-fooled; not all Twin’s wind-up together in “romantic” situations just because of the fated-ness that persist with synchronic signs after meeting them. Fate does-not-a-relationship-make. A relationship must have 2 people in agreement to said-relationship to make it so, the law of freewill has much to do with that. There is no Universal law that states; “a fated meeting is forever.” Life is not a Helzberg Diamond commercial. But one thing is for sure; anyone who experiences a Twin Flame relationship will be changed forever and ultimately rewarded by spiritual evolution. Working on self first and detachment from the ego mind of the fated-ness part of meeting a Twin Flame is what moves you forward on your spiritual path. Detachment means: TO HAVE ZERO EXPECTATIONS OF BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR TWIN. I can’t emphasis this enough. You and your twin will no doubt be working on issues through each other to evolve as people. The meeting of the Twin is always for a much higher purpose. Divine timing will determine if you will be in a “union” or relationship. The law of freewill; choice in choosing a partner, prevails over fate and destiny.

Twin Flame Signs

You will experience a strange “feeling” and “knowing” of something happening behind the scenes before your first encounter with them.You will get this feeling that something is brewing but you have no idea what it is, or why you feel this way.

The moment you encounter them, you will feel a strange and unusual spark within your being. “There they are!” is a simple yet accurate way to describe this feeling. It is an instant recognition on a soul level, your logical mind will not recognize them, but YOU will.

Synchronicities will become very apparent. The number sequence 11:11will be the inital sequence that you encounter. Once you acknowledge it, more will come.  They will be in your face, all of the time. This will range from repeating numbers (222, 333, 444, etc.) to your thoughts synching perfectly with your reality; you will be thinking of a word or phrase, and you will then hear this exact word or phrase in the physical. You will see personalized messages on billboards and on the TV, telling you exactly what you need in order to keep moving forward. The biggest mistake you could make is to ignore what these numbers and signs are telling you. They are signs and directions laid out for you by your Higher Self. They are your path to Union.

Your outlook on life will change. You will prefer complete solitude for awhile in order to collect your thoughts. You will question everything you have ever known and you will rid your life of what no longer serves you. Some of this will even happen on a subconscious level; For example, you won’t be able to afford cable TV any longer, as this is your Higher Self directing you AWAY from the false beliefs that no longer resonate. Things can seem as if they are falling apart, but they are being cleared for a higher purpose, you are making room for the new to enter.

You will give up habits that no longer serve you. Drinking, smoking, even unsatisfying jobs. You will suddenly drop these things as they no longer serve a purpose for your Union.

You will be absolutely swarmed with thoughts of your Twin Flame. By swarmed I quite literally mean 24-7. There are days were you will just want to lay in bed and think about your Twin, and tune into your heart connection. You can not and will not escape this, the more you attempt to push these thoughts and feelings away, the more they will overwhelm you. This is set in place for a reason. You are not MEANT to push these away, you are meant to embrace them, as your Twin will be a part of your life for the duration of your time here on Earth, and thereafter.

Your lives will synch up. Everything about you will synch and match, yet you will ALSO be complimentary opposites. This is put in place as a recognition mechanism. Your lives before you met will match, so much that you may discover that you received the same items for Christmas years ago. You will have worked the same types of jobs, and your family history will match. You will show up in person together and be dressed alike. If one Twin gets a nosebleed, the other will follow suit shortly thereafter.

As for the complimentary opposite aspect; what one Twin lacks, the other will make up for. If one of you is bald, the other will have a beautiful head of hair. If one of you excels at math, the other will be a magnificent writer. If one is older, the other maybe decades younger. Your aspects will be a perfect puzzle, all will be matched, synched, and what one is “lacking” the other will fill in. It is human perfection.

The Love you feel for this person goes beyond anything you ever thought was possible. You will absolutely LOVE this person with such a fiery passion that nothing and no one would ever be able to change this feeling. It is a complete imprint on the others soul, you have permanently merged yourselves. And the only reason for loving them is simply for who they are. No matter what your “type” is, your Twin will become the most amazingly beautiful and fantastic human being that you have ever encountered. You will have a longing and lust for them that does not fade. You want to merge with them on ALL levels of their being.

If you are married at the time of meeting your Twin, your marriage will slowly become more and more unappealing. You will feel as if you are cheating on your Twin whilst being with your spouse. You will only have eyes for your Twin, and being intimate with your partner will become increasingly more difficult. Your soul wants nothing to do with this lower vibrational act of love, regardless of how much you care for your spouse as a person. They will never, ever hold a candle to your Twin Flame. Your mind will try and convince you of the human made laws of marriage, but your soul and heart will put up the rigorous fight to this core value which no longer serves you.

You will dream of this person, and many times this will be a lucid dream. You will be able to manipulate the dream into whatever you wish, and these dreams are the prerequisite of what is required of you in order to come into Union. Just like a dream, your waking reality requires and allows you to manipulate your circumstances into whatever you wish. (I will get into this in another article). The more harmonious your dreams are that involve your Twin, the closer you are to Union.

Your physical appearances will merge. This is a huge sign, and especially apparent if you are a Twin couple with an age gap. At the time of the younger Twins birth, the older Twin will begin to evolve and change physically. The older Twin will begin to shed their “old looks” in order to match his or her Twin. They will be able to look back at pictures of themselves and be unrecognizable. At the time of meeting, you and your Twin will be “identical”, regardless of age or race. You will be able to take a split screen picture of each face and put them side by side, and they will match perfectly.

You will find synchronicity in; your names (one of your names will be found with in the other’s), your birthday’s, the day you met, and even in your phone numbers. This requires a little bit of detective work, but if you are curious, you will be aligned to see it. Everything is pre-planned for you to be able to recognize this person as your Twin, this is all set up by your Higher Selves pre-birth.

Your Twin will test your faith, patience, and emotional stability. They do this completely unknowingly, and you agreed to this before you incarnated here. Everything that you need to work on, your Twin will put on display. This will be extremely exaggerated through them, and it is there once again to catch your attention. Whatever you need to work on within yourself will be magnified exponentially so you can get the picture and fix it. Your Twin is your greatest mirror, everything that you accuse them of being, you are accusing yourself of. You yourself are the only one who is with-holding your Union. Your Twin is ready for you as soon as you Align yourself.

You, or they, will have a strong urge to run for the hills. Notice here I said strong urge. If you do become physically separated, it is never for long, and it is always guided. This connection can be very overwhelming, especially in the beginning, and one or both of you will want to retreat back to “your old life”. However, you are here for a higher purpose and the Universe and your Higher Selves were prepared for this. This statement may upset some who feel they have met their Twins and have lost them, however this is important, and I want to make this very clear. Should you and your Twin separate, this is not permanent. If you have met your Twin Flame in this lifetime, the two of you WILL be together, permanently. There is no “maybe in the next lifetime, we met too soon.” If you have encountered your TRUE Twin Flame, you will reunite as a couple in the physical here and now. Should you have lost your Twin for an extended amount of time, this person was a soul catalyst, and NOT your Twin Flame. You and your Twin will never stay apart long, it is impossible and it goes against the whole reason you incarnated here together and met in the physical. Do you truly believe all of these signs and preparations for the two of you were all for nothing? You will both fulfill your purpose here TOGETHER, United in love.

How To Recognize A Twin Flame

There are many signs and characteristics that the twin relationship has that can help you decide if you’ve met your twin. Chances are though, if you’re awake, aware, and have been doing your inner work, you already know. Twin relationships aren’t necessarily harmonious; in fact twin flames when uniting can go through a lot of cleansing, purging and energy releasing within the chakra system. The biggest sign is the amount of energy that is created when they come together. Do not be confused by emotional or physical attraction, this energy that is created is something completely different. When and if you experience this amount of energy you will know. It is thought that only graduate souls are finding their Twins souls/Flames on Earth as their purpose is to do healing and spiritual work on the planet at this time.

The place of meeting. It was as if they fell out of the sky and into your lap. Neither one of you were looking for each other, it was Divine timing and circumstance that brought you together. Sometimes it is quite symbolic.

They are your mirror. They will mirror back to you everything in your life that you need to address. Everything that has not been healed. They are there to show you YOU. Sometimes your entire life can change upon meeting them.

The amount of energy created when you are together is magnetic. People around you will notice and feel the power between you. When you are together you can be an unstoppable force!

You psychic and intuitive senses will be heightened upon meeting.

There is usually something significant about their birthdate. They do not have to be born on the same day, month, or year, but there is just something peculiar about their date.

The deep respect and love for each other means you will never want to hurt each other, and if there is a fight or disagreement between the two of you, it can feel devastating.

You feel an almost immediate bond or connection with them usually right after meeting them. Like you’ve known them before or their energy feels very familiar.

You will both complement each other. Your skillsets or abilities will work perfectly together because you’ve developed what the other one lacks or needs in your separation. And together you can work Magic!

The feelings you have for them sometimes cannot even be put into words. Total unconditional and complete love and acceptance. There is a special sacredness about your relationship that transcends anything you have ever experienced before. In essence, you already know, you will feel it with your whole being. No other relationship will be as life changing.

You are aware that the purpose of your relationship is to bring something extraordinary to the world for the betterment of the planet.

And lastly, one of my personal favorites is noticing the numbers 11:11. This number can appear anywhere. You may see it on clocks, receipts, computers etc. and in my own personal journey seeing 11:11 has always been a confirmation that I was on the right path, or a “Yes” to a thought I was having right before I noticed the time. It appears a lot when we are going through a growth stage. There are other meanings for 11:11. But that’s another whole topic on its own.

These are some of the biggest signs of a twin relationship. Sometimes, however, one twin may not be ready for the other one, either because of their unwillingness or fear of dealing with their own issues and emotional baggage and maybe a “Flame Runner”. They may want to run away from the amount of energy or intensity of the relationship. Or if when they look into your eyes the reflection back of themselves is too much to deal with. If that is the case, have patience and trust in knowing that you will be together again when both are ready for the cleansing and clearing necessary. This intense repelling and magnetic attraction is a common theme among twins and the reunion will take place when both are ready to be fully healed. If you have been lucky enough to find this once in many lifetimes relationship, cherish it and know that it is here to bring you to your utmost spiritual growth. The twin flame relationship changes your life. It challenges each soul to grow and expand into their highest potential to fulfill their mission and purpose on the planet and in each other’s lives. If you are still searching, stop the search outward and go inward and focus on you. You won’t find them by searching, they will find you, through Love. That’s all. 8 Major Twin Flame Stages

Twin flames are said to be beings that aid our souls in finding completion. Ancient Greek philosopher Plato first created the idea of souls “split in two” that eternally yearn to find their “other halves.” These days we still carry around this idea of “find our other half,” but unfortunately we believe that it is absolutely imperative for us to find another person to be complete. Please keep in mind that while twin flames do help us to experience unconditional love and grow immensely as people, not all of us find our twin flames, and not all of us need twin flames to feel complete. Please read “7 Common Myths Embellishing Twin Flame Relationships” to read more about this. Also, it helps to remember that the degree to which you can experience harmony in your twin flame relationship is dependent on your level of soulful maturity. For example, two old souls will have a much easier time at “holding it all together” than two young souls. You can read more about soul ages. So keeping this in mind, what are the eight major twin flame stages that you’ll likely experience in your relationship?

Stage One – Yearning for “The One”: In this preliminary stage, you have spent your entire life pining for “The One” that doesn’t yet exist in your life. You have this strange sensation that someone who is perfectly molded to you is “out there” but you don’t quite know where or when they will appear in your life. Although you ache for your twin flame, you have a feeling they will appear to you at some point. This stage is also sometimes spent “preparing” for the arrival of the twin flame on an unconscious level. In my instance, I had to learn how to love myself before I met mine. For others, this stage of preparation involves the development of self-awareness, discovery, and understanding.

Stage Two – Glimpsing “The One”: At some point, you will have a brief glimpse of your twin flame. Whether this is through a dream signal, or through a real-life meeting, suddenly the Beloved can be sensed. The result is profound. Wonder, joy, anxiety, and intoxication quickly ensue. For those cautious among us, a lingering sense of intense curiosity and desire to get to know the person better is the result. You don’t know what it is exactly, but this person is extremely special. Like me, you may even sense that this person will play an immensely important role in your life – even before you know them properly.

Stage Three – Falling in Love: When you fall for this person, you will fall very, very hard. You will fall harder than you have ever fallen for anyone – and the impact will knock the breath right out of you. In fact, as you get to know your twin flame better, you will fall more and more deeply in love with them. As a result, you’ll find it hard to stand with two feet on the ground. You might feel disorientated, lovesick and “unlike yourself.” You may even try to resist the attraction, but eventually, you’ll accept the reality that you’re deeply and madly in love.

Stage Four – The Fairy-Tale Relationship: As both of you eventually make your feelings known and enter into a relationship, life will feel like a fairy-tale. Your relationship with them will be perfect in every possible way. It will seem as though your twin flame fulfills every single need you have and everything you ever possibly wanted. This taste of “paradise” is what the matured twin flame relationship looks like after the next few stages of turmoil.

Stage Five – Outer Turmoil and Inner Purging: In this stage, there is trouble in paradise. As the ecstasy from the initial meeting period wears off, egos start to flare up. Suddenly differences in opinion, taste, and personality arise, and old core wounds emerge out of the gloom. While our twin flames share and mirror our deepest needs, desires, and dreams, they also tend to mirror our shadow selves. For example, if you are an emotionally repressed person, your twin flame will likely be emotionally explosive. If you tend to be arrogant, your twin flame will most likely be uncertain and quiet. In this way our twin flames challenge us, riling up our insecurities. This can be infuriating, devastating and very painful. While all the arguing and fighting in this stage may seem disastrous, the truth is that it is necessary for our growth. Without being provoked, without seeing ourselves for who we “really” are, we live in illusion and fail to grow soulfully. But this is certainly hard to realize while you’re going through such turbulence in your relationship!

Stage Six – The Runner and Chaser: As tensions mount it is common for one partner (or sometimes both) to emotionally or physically withdraw and “run” away, and another to pursue in a game of cat and mouse. Sometimes this involves emotional shutdown and silent treatments. Other times this involves physical separation and in extreme cases, the permanent termination of the relationship. In this stage, twin flames experience a trial by fire. While some relationships last and are strengthened, others crumble to pieces. As I mentioned at the start, this is all dependent on each partner’s soulful maturity. Sometimes one partner leaves for many years and then returns, only to repeat the cycle once again. The chaser, on the other hand, tends to be the more mentally and emotionally mature partner of the two, trying to sort everything out and make amends.

Stage Seven – Surrender and Dissolution: Once the shadow of your relationship has been revealed, you may experience a period of surrender. After so much anguish, distress and provocation, you both begin to open up about your wounds and insecurities. In this stage, it is common to experience a lot of ego dissolution and soulful expansion. As the ego relaxes, powerful lessons are learned about the nature of oneself and the nature of the “other.” As you begin learning how to work through your differences, the maturity of your relationship deepens and thus strengthens.It is common to go through stages six and seven many times throughout your relationship.

Stage Eight – Oneness: As the problems in your relationship become increasingly easy to deal with, you will enter a period of soul reunion. In stage eight it is common for you to both find a shared meaning, passion or cause that brings you a mutual sense of fulfillment. As the ego continues to relax, virtues such as forgiveness, understanding, empathy, and patience are learned. The more you both work through each issue that comes your way vigilantly, the more you experience the sensation of “Oneness,” or ego death.

Common Twin Flame Difficulties

Now for the famous Twin Flame Obstacles. Quite a few of you will see these as “blocks” to your Union, but they are not, they are in place for a reason. As soon as you see them as “blocks”, or “obstacles”, that is exactly what they become. These characteristics are here for you to transcend them, because Love doesn’t see anything other than itself. The soul does not care about the human standards of “right and wrong”, as there is no right or wrong. There is only Love. You are meant to bridge the gap between percieved, man-made separations and belief systems that serve nothing but egoic standards. You can choose to either notice them as obstacles, or you may transcend them, which will catapult you into Union. When twin souls first meet even in their final incarnation, some of them will have differences in physical, emotional and intellectual content of the two personalities. Firstly, one soul has to adjust his difficulties within himself. Then he has to match whatever he has to the other. That means he has to clear all his own foibles, needs, cravings and ill will before he meets his twin as a fully satisfied individual. He should be ready to serve the other by putting the requirements of the other twin before his own. And vice versa. The struggle between themselves and together will definitely go to enhance the twinship. This is so because they have different psychological background and different personalities with emotional divergence. There will be normal conflicts when the two have such a close relationship, but the conflicts will be rapidly resolved. This is because their goal is the same. The emotional conflict is almost unbearable because they are twins. So in order not to see the other suffer, they tend to solve the problem as soon as possible.As they have been travelling by themselves, they have earned good and bad karma of their own. Once they meet and work together, they must now try and clear both karmic debts jointly. Similarly, good karma earned by both independently will be enjoyed by both. In fact, as karma is created at the soul level, both have been influenced by the other’s karma imperceptibly. There will definitely be stress in some couples, and in these they may even break up temporarily. Some couples will have to suffer together because of joined karma. There are so many possibilities in so many combinations and permutations. In some, the different backgrounds and karma would have brought together two very different individuals. This fact does not bother them at all. In this instance, “opposites do attract”. All the differences go to complement their lives. So differences in physical, emotional and psychological make up do not tear them apart irrevocably, because their souls are joined together like Siamese twins. The compatibility here is at the spiritual level. That alone counts. The obstacles within the individual should mostly be solved by the time of the meeting. However, there may be few external obstacles that present themselves. One or both twins could have already been married when they meet. The eternal triangle is usually dealt by the almost enlightened individuals with accommodation to the existing families. If one were to hear that someone has walked out on the family to be with his or her twin soul, one can rest assured that it is not a twin soul union in their final incarnation. The already committed twin is too responsible and would continue to honour the pre-existing marriage. The twins will know that there must be a very good reason for this inconvenience. It could be a test or because of unresolved karmic obligations. The twins would then remain as loving friends or colleagues without marriage disruptions. This is due to fact that they are no more powered by passionate physical sex, as their love is above that. They may meet at night in spirit for the purpose of uplifting a common cause. They may meet in either the astral or mental world. They know that their separation is temporary and nothing in the world can stop their final union. Of course very occasionally their meeting could precipitate a marriage breakup, but this is with a marriage that is already collapsing. The breakup may induce some benefit to the aggrieved members, who can start anew with their own new partners. With this in mind, the twins who are uniting in this last incarnation, would have cultivated fidelity, joy, love and trust, and their union would be as solid as a rock. However, there may still be a few cases, where one soul has not reached the same level as the other. One partner may outgrow the other, and the demands of the less developed may be irksome to most other partners. However to the developed twin this mild set back must be met with tolerance and patience, otherwise the growth may be stunted. At this juncture it is a shame to let the stunting be a deterrent for further growth. For instance, if one soul were to suffer from some neurotic illness, this fact may be detrimental for both. So the care-giving partner has to sacrifice his smooth progression to confront the neurotic partner with the truth of the difficulty. This may rock the marriage, but it has to be done.You do not spare the rod because you are afraid to hurt the naughty child. The soft stance will hurt the child more at a later date. This self-sacrifice must be persistent and long standing otherwise it will not work, for most neurotic diseases are brought over from past lives.
