Authors Note: Look, I have a carnal need to create Gravity Falls content, and would you look at that, angst relating to trans protag is at the top of my list, also, fangs go brr

The twins have returned to Gravity Falls after a few years, and since then, they have most definitely changed, mostly in their physical traits though.

Dipper is still a paranoid, anxiety ridden, plan making guy, and Mabel is still a determined, positive, undefeatable on certain occasions kind a gal.

Now that I think of what I'm saying, they practically are the same but only look different, lucky for them in certain circumstances. They find themselves back in their attic, a curtain had been placed between their beds for varying reasons, most of which will stay unnamed. Dippers half had become scatterbrained over the years for lack of better terms, wall covered in various items from all sorts of times and places. Mabels half had become a bit more vibrant than it already was, her wall had a corkboard that had constantly switching pictures and charms.

"Mabel," Dipper started, legs crossed as he sat on his bed, flipping through the third journal, double checking each piece of information to make sure he remembered everything in an emergency. "Think Grunkle Stan left that room we fought for intact after we left?"

"Probably, wanna go check?" Mabel asked as she swung her legs over her bed, already sliding on her socks, hardwood below ice to anyone who dares to go barefoot.

"Duh, course I do." Dipper said, rolling his eyes just a bit as he followed Mabel who was swift in her actions.

The two dashed down the creaking staircase, Dipper trailing his hand on the railing with Mabel skipping weakening steps. Normally, the two would be quiet when maneuvering the house, but for once during a summer in Gravity Falls Stan had gifted them a day off work in the gift shop. It was a rare occasion they had a day off, normally being worked to the bone on their summer vacation, they still loved the joint though.

In fact, if it weren't for the imbalance of food, rest and work being given to the twins, Dippers frame wouldn't be thin enough to see his veins and feel bones with ease under the minuscule amounts of muscle he had, it didn't help he had gotten into habit of trying to work out, only wearing himself thinner. Mabel had a similar case of her growth being stunted due to imbalance in crucial elements, the only reason she wasn't as thin as Dipper was because she often hung out with her friends whom had snacks, but she was still a bit on the underweight side of the spectrum.

With a dumb smirk on their faces as they ran down the second, and considerably smaller, flight of stairs they reached the door. They found a single board was nailed across the wooden door, Dipper cracked his knuckles with a cocky smirk before attempting to pry it off, unable to do so with his bare hands, getting a splinter in the process.

While Dipler struggled with the door, Mabel searched for a smarter solution somewhere in the basement. She slid open various drawers and crouched to check under pieces of furniture.

A glimmer caught her eye from underneath a spare sofa, and out of instinct alone, she dropped down and blindly reached for whatever shined. She found her hand to be covered in cobwebs and dust as she searched for what she spotted, ending up finding a partially rusted crowbar, it was rather dusty as well.

With a fresh grin on her face she trotted over to Dipper with crowbar in hand.

Dipper was failing epically with each attempt, his palms red and arms aching he turned with disappointment.

"Mabel, its impossible to o…" Dipper said as he lifted his head to see what Mabel held, trailing off when he realized she held a crowbar which she eagerly handed to him, allowing him to have this moment.

Gripping the rusty metal tightly, he jammed the hook under the board and started forcing the handle down. Faint splintering sounds could be heard as the prongs dug into the wood that had started to grow weak over the years. Dipper couldn't force the bar down enough, Mabel lending a hand in pushing as well to pry off the board, added leverage helping greatly.

With a loud and obnoxious snap the board was shattered and came flying off, sending them both to the ground. Mabel stood up first before opening the door, finding the room to be the same way they left it, except with a carpet on the floor.

The two strode in with confidence, the shag carpet below causing static to gather on their socks.

Dust was in low amount despite how long the room had been left untouched, Dipper deduced it was because a window was left open, also why their was a moldy spot on the couch. The humidity from the years had caused the pictures on the walls to curl in and become moldy to a lesser extent than the couch, but still moldy. Aside from the mold, the room was still near perfect condition and just as the two had remembered it to be from all those years ago.

"Hey Mabel," Dipper started, Mabel turned to face him. "I know it's been oh so long since we last wrestled, but maybe we could, since were taking a hike down memory lane you know."

Dipper was almost confused when Mabel raised both her hands, he returned the gesture before interlocking their fingers and shoving against each other. They both shared a smirk before Mabel pushed forward, easily sending Dipper slipping who flanked her, nearly throwing her off balance. Mabel side stepped to the left, Dipper in tune and stepped to left as well before rushing her, ending up throwing her to the ground after releasing his grip, both slipping on the carpet and ending up on the floor in the long run.

They shared a short laugh before Mabel stood up, offering a hand that Dipper took only to be hit with a strong spark and a bright flash of white that turned to dark for only a second.

The first thing Dipper felt when he regained full awareness was a gut wrenching pain in his abdomen that made him feel nauseas to the point of passing out. He also took note of the weight on his chest, also helping to disorient him in the nausea that swamped his cognitive function near completely.

Mabel on the other hand felt better than ever, as though she had never been sick once and that she was immune to anything that would try and take her down. The only thing pulling her down was the tightness on her chest, constricting her nearly to the point of suffocation, but she could still breath.

It didn't take very long for them to realize they had switched bodies.

"Dipper," Mabel started sternly, Dipper tensed and gave a weak groan in response. "How come you lied to me about getting top surgery, and bottom surgery?"

"I didn't want you to get all, bummed out over it, you know," Dipper tried to explain, pain in his abdomen unbearable. "Besides, dad won't let me anyways, says he's fine with me taking pills and wearing a binder, but I'm not allowed surgery so I can't mess up the chances of the Pines family lasting another generation."

"Well that's fucked." Mabel said blatently.

"Yep, wow, I'm not missing out on anythiiannng," Dipper tried to say, ending up having to cut his sentence short as a searing pain tore through his abdomen. "How do you deal with this?"

"Drugs." Mabel answered calmly, before sitting up, offering a hand for Dipper who was weak in the knees as he stood up, he felt like he was choking on his own throat whenever the nausea spiked.

"Where, where do you keep these drugs?" Dipper asked shakily as Mabel led him out of the room, the former having a hard time sticking his footing with unbearable surges of pain tearing through him time and time again.

"In my pillow, Stan would've tried to take 'em if I didn't hide them." Mabel explained before crouching down a bit, slinging one of her brothers arms over her shoulder and helping him up the flight of stairs.

"Cipher be damned, how many stairs are left?" Dipper asked with a sigh as he started to step up the second flight of stairs, leaning on both his sister and the railing, only half worried the wood would break under his weight.

Balance still off, Dipper fell face first on the floor when Mabel pushed open the door and headed to her bed. There he lay on the ground, in his sisters body and groaning in pure agony as his sister looked for her small bottle of non clinically approved meds.

Mabel had to drag Dipper off the ground before handing him a pill that he downed dry with only a bit of hacking, lucky him this stuff kicked in fast and his pain was gone in mere minutes.

"Mabel." Dipper said quietly as he sprawled himself across his bed, overheating in his sisters sweater.

"Yeah bro?" Mabel started, running her fingers across her brothers body which she inhabited now, a bit let down at the lack of muscle, and worried about how easily she could feel the bones underneath skin.

"Can we never swap bodies again after we fix this mess?" Dipper asked as he crossed his legs, a few fragmented memories of when his prescription of the pill was confiscated by his father returning.

There was a lot of blood that night.

Lets leave it at that.

"Absolutely, I mean, I don't mind being in your body, kind of nice, but it is yours." Mabel said before stretching her legs, hearing a few pops she decided to assumes where normal.

"Mabel, if you like my body because there are no cramps, then you are absolutely not allowed to keep it," Dipper said before mashing his face into his pillow, a wave of nausea hitting him, probably just aftershock. "I'm sure you can convince mom to start letting you on the pill anyways, considering how much it hurts I'm sure she'd understand."

"What makes you think I haven't already asked?" Mabel asked as gave her brother a glare he wouldn't see.

"Good point, what was her excuse?" Dipper asked as he sat up, knees raised and a pillow pressed to his stomach.

"That I wouldn't be a real woman if I didn't get my period like every other AFAB person does, but, I guess she's right, you know? Why call myself a 'woman' if I don't get my period." Mabel said with a sigh, directing her gaze to her feet as she sat on her bed with a sigh.

"That's fucked," Dipper started. "Like, if it weren't for smuggling the pill in with tricks Stan taught me, I would just give up on everything, why keep trying if I can't get what makes everything stop hurting, I'm shocked you're still standing."

"I mean, at least you got fangs." Mabel said before gesturing to the fangs lined up and perfectly cleaned in her mouth.

"Please, you ever bit your tongue with teeth like those, it's a wonder my tongue still works." Dipper said as he rolled his eyes before shuffling off of his bed, Mabel followed in suite.

oh yeah no sorry I'm the anon that compared tommy and dream. my point isn't that they're the same or even comparable though I get how it came across that way. my point was moreso that he's just not irredeemable.

though I will add, through dream grew up sheltered, he's had access to the same internet as we do, and earlier in his career the way he handled controversy and criticism was. not very good? and it's overtime gotten progressively better and he's gotten better at listening and genuinely internalizing criticism.

tommy in particular has trouble with that i think, he understands that people are upset with him but he never seems to completely understand why, and just apologizes because he doesn't want people mad at him (hence why I've always gotten the impression that he never seems to be sure what he's apologizing for, even though he seems genuinely sorry that people are upset.). and though it's probably very draining to sift through all the negative things about him to find out why people are actually upset, he probably needs to find a way to do it eventually. and not everyone has to stick around for that but i do think he also might need the same patience dream got to learn how to handle criticism and controversy.

I think Dream's said that he didn't really have social media for a long time, so he was probably more sheltered than most of us (I actually didn't either so probably not more sheltered than me lmao) but I will for SURE not deny the fact that the way he handled criticism at the start of his career was not good. Some of my first impressions of Dream were very poor because of that stuff. Though I think he'd say that about himself too at this point, it's definitely been a progression.

The bit about Tommy rings true to me - obviously we don't really know, but there's always been a feeling like that, I think. I do think he's genuinely sorry, but I feel like he gets the wrong impression - or no impression at all - a lot of the time. I know that it's kind of inevitable, considering his distance from the fanbase and also just who he is as a person. I'm not saying he should "follow stans to get educated" or something - ew lmao - I'm just saying that there's a sort of long-reaching miscommunication when people are upset and that makes him more prone to repeating whatever mistake he made, in a sense.

It's definitely a difficult balance of allowing him that patience and understanding the problems with what he's doing in the meantime, but again, I do think this is just something he need so learn from and I really hope he does because he really doesn't need to be making these kinds of jokes to go far, y'know?

Big and little things i love about Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood in no particular order (spoilers ahead, duh)

This story doesn't follow a "chosen one" or even a selfless volunteer; it follows two broken children who begin the story by falling from grace

And one extremely broken, extremely OP man who messes absolutely everything up and is kind of a dork but has good intentions (this is a Hoenheim stan account!!!!)

Ed is working through his relationship with God the whole time and i have to respect that lol

Equivalent exchange as a concept sets the story up very well for you to understand and accept sacrifice and tragedy

It's honestly just such a good!! Such a good plot device!!!! It gives so much structure and depth and nuance to the world!!!!!

With equivalent exchange being so heavily emphasized you have to wonder, the entire time, what they could possibly give in order to get what they desire. When you find out, it's tragic but it's also poetic, perfect, inevitable.

One of the big Points of the story is that to be human, including having weaknesses and shortcomings, is the greatest gift you could ever have + that each life is irreplaceable

And that to love and rely on other people is one of the most beautiful, human things you could do

Everyone's relationships. They are all so fleshed out! They might as well be real people!!!

Edward's relationship with Roy being messed up because it's like a father/son dynamic that neither of them was ready for & didn't want to admit to, but it mellows out so nicely

Roy and Riza, literally one of my favorite relationships in a piece of media

Scar loves cats. I thought this was an internet joke but when he sees Shao May he gets like really excited and tries to pet her. Is this why he let Mai tag along with him and Yoki? Because he liked the cat?? 😂

winston/moreau?-

Okay, so I have a whole writeup as to why Winston Loomis from the Dinoverse and Salvatore Moreau from Resident Evil should be boyfriends. Like, I wrote this a week ago and I still stand by it and I have it READY

1. They're both mad scientists, particularly the type who create legions of abominations by altering humans. 2. Moreau feels that those he thinks of as family hate him and cast him out, finding him disgusting. Winston was a patsy framed for the Myers Corporation's entire cyborg operation (even though he WAS part of it, just...not the only person working on it) when they needed somebody to take the heat and go to jail. You know why this was? Because he was quiet, introverted, perceived as a creepy loser. Disgusting. An outcast. 3. Moreau eats people regularly; Winston feeds people to his cyborg creations 4. Just the general horror vibe, man. 5. I will stan for a while the headcanon @sakuraloomis made that Winston is a major weeb. Just an absolute otaku. And I know this is a case of "take one thing and make it a character's entire personality" but Moreau being distracted by the television gave me the idea - what if he's really into screens and other A/V sensory treats because he has so many eyes and he often has to keep them all covered up, so 90% of the eyes he actually has are just seeing blackness? Meaning the eyes he can show up front LOVE to take in pretty fast-moving things on screens because that makes up the difference a little. So anyway, catch him and Winston on the couch just marathonning anime for fifteen hours 6. Winston is used to cleaning up Victor Blake's barf all the time so he can handle the acid

7. But on the subject of Moreau constantly barfing, Winston is ALWAYS COUGHING so they're the duo of "Are you two all right? Do you need some soup or a ride to the ER?" 8. The one that's kinda POETRY though is that their names are both references to previous horror icons. Moreau's name is an homage to The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells. And Dino likes slasher films, so the characters in his games often have the names of popular slashers (e.g. Albert Krueger, Monsieur Myers). And Winston Loomis, of course, is from the OG GHOSTFACE. So their name scheme is........same

9. And this was not even a part of my original writeup, but it hit me one day that I like to write Winston as straight-up mute, and it seems to me that back in 2017 there was a romance film that made quite a stir involving a mute human and a fish man. Did I seriously just create the gay villain version of The Shape of Water

And then just the little notation that Moreau made that one of his Cadou subjects "wriggled a lot and killed my assistant." He had a lab assistant at one point. He could have...a new one. Let them be lab partners together, making cyborgs and Cadou mutants and all sorts of creeptastic things before they chill out for like seven hours on a mega anime binge on the couch. And no they do not sleep, sleep is for losers (until they both pass out from exhaustion)
