Jason has no idea what the fuck is happening. One moment hes on his motorcycle driving down the winding streets of Gotham, the next hes suddenly in the centre of an absolutely destroyed town with a glowing white haired man fighting a giant guy with flaming green hair. He snaps out of his daze as this redhead lady in a strange metal suit grabs his motorcycle and throws it at the metal man with a simple “sorry” as her excuse.

Jazz blinks. Her short boyfriend has suddenly gotten much shorter. 14 year old Robin Jason Todd stood in the place of HER Jason.

Bruce Wayne stared warily and alert for any signs of a threat. His protege was gone. Standing in his place was a massive man bigger than himself with a red helmet and guns strapped to his thighs.

i was thinking that sy was basically just an arbiter in a manager coat, which led to me wondering like. what would it be like if reinhardt and sy switched roles?

Ooo, that’d be interesting. Sy as a regular Arbiter would be just as ruthless, except without the restraints. As for Reinhardt, since he’d have about the same level of keen observation, things would play out nearly identical- One lures out the other to kill them.

But for Swap!Reinhardt, it’s simply because he’s interested in how an Arbiter would react in the Facility’s… enclosed environment, exposed to even more cosmic horrors. The control ripped from him, as he would have to endure the despair and suffering in a weakened body, with no way out. Unlike Director Sy, who treated everyone like a tool, to accomplish L Corp’s goal. Swap!Reinhardt just kinda does things for shits and giggles.

Director Sy mostly primarily hated the Head in particular, which is why Employee Reinhardt tends to get killed as a warning. But not outright tortured. While Swap!Reinhardt would gladly send Swap!Sy to certain death. Kind of like a guinea pig when getting a new Abno.

And when Swap!Reinhardt gets bored, he’d probably come up with a “brilliant idea”. What if he were to erase his own memories?

So Swap!Sy gets greeted with a peculiar situation- an amnestic Reinhardt who’s trying to manage an entire Facility. Since Swap!Sy still can’t do anything towards Swap!Reinhardt, he watches as Swap!Reinhardt grow and stuff. And to be honest, Swap!Sy might even grow fond of him…? Just a guy who, despite not knowing himself, trying his best who would come to really care about others. Even towards the Arbiter.

The question is, if Swap!Reinhardt regains his memories, what would happen? Would he revert back to his original malicious self, or would he have to face the consequences of his past self? Just something to think about.

[Quickest way to summarize this is based on a tidbit of Sammy/Mordecai’s relationship with @truxicanfalconer, I made a quick crack AU where Sammy was born shortly after the events of the Underdome DLC for Borderlands 1, and as a result got no Siren powers, but grew up to be like her dad and took up a hobby in falconry.]

Apparently, back in the day, there was a really notorious tie in novel for Star Trek that had a lot of slash elements called Killing Time

The slash elements were requested to be removed by Paramount, and they were, BUT due to a mistake, the original was sent to print without the edits

When it was caught, they’d printed 250k of this “first edition” which subsequently became collectors items for Kirk/Spock fans, since later editions DID include the edits censoring the slash

NOW, I bring this up because my friend who’s into the original Star Trek found and was reading the first edition at the desk at the library we work at, cause we’re slow on weekends and we’re the only ones here. She laughs at it, so I ask and she tells me about the general backstory of the book, and that she laughed because (among other things) Kirk, who doesn’t get mad in the og series really, was being described as hot headed and apparently just getting into fights left and right

So I’m looking over her shoulder at the scene, commenting on the character changes that resemble modern fic-degradation of characterization for the sake of a shipping dynamic, when I realize something

Now, my only interaction with the Star Trek series directly was the 2009 reboot, and my friends hasn’t seen those and is only interested in the originals. As I’m looking at this scene, and my friend is pointing out the character changes to Kirk, I realize that this is the fucking premise of the reboot, down to the fucking alternative timeline shenanigans, the rank swap, and Kirk being a hotheaded fuck up

The 2009 film was literally based on this slash fiction misprint they tried to bury!

I like the general fandom trend to just take the plot of Hyrule Warriors as a loose guideline at best and just use the whole concept as a good excuse to get blorbos to interact across timelines, BUT I'm very disappointed that everyone is missing the comedic potential of a very specific squad of characters:

Young Link (aka Mask), who walks out of the nightmare of Majora's Mask and immediately gets portal kidnapped into a temporal war, takes one look at the whole mess and decides that you could not fucking pay him to admit to being the resident expert on Time Shenanigans. He introduces himself with the title of Hero of Termina, and definitely doesn't have any other ones, that would be crazy. Hero of Time? Never heard of him.

Tetra, who is a kickass pirate captain with zero patience for people trying to shove her into the Designated Princess role, and realizes immediately that Oh Fuck, this Hyrule has a lot of Ideas about how the Hero and the Princess are supposed to properly play their parts, the second they realize she's technically a Zelda they're gonna shove her in a goddamn dress and damsel her again, that's not happening. So she's definitely just a really cool pirate captain, nothing else going on here at all, definitely not the heir of the Hylian royal family in her time, that'd be crazy.

Ravio, who is literally just a palette swapped Link, meaning that the second his hood comes off, things are gonna get Awkward. There's no way in hell he's dealing with all that Hero baggage, that's Link work, so that giant bunny hood/mask is practically superglued to his head, and he's not taking it off for love or money.

Spirit Tracks Zelda, who is just in the Phantom Armour the whole time, and passing herself off as just a friendly ghost posessing a suit of armour to help the Hero of Spirits. Of course she isn't Princess Zelda, that's ridiculous, if she were a Zelda then people would start getting really weird about her technically being dead, and boy does that ever sound like a whole Thing she doesn't want to deal with, so she can't possibly be Zelda, she's just a nice ghost knight. Also, her teenage grandma is here, and that's kinda weird, so it's easier to just not admit to being royalty and avoid that awkward conversation.

Finally there's Sheik, who is not the Princess Zelda of the era straight up abandoning her war torn country for months at a time so she can risk her life in extreme cosplay for no clear reason, but is instead the actual Sheik from Ocarina of Time, who just beat Ganondorf like a month ago and is still trying to process what the fuck to do now. Also, he's been pretending to be a boy since he was ten, and is realizing there's a pretty good chance that he isn't pretending anymore, so that's a whole other can of worms. But for the last seven years of his life, being Princess Zelda meant certain death, so he's not really inclined to introduce himself like when in a new and stressful situation (not to mention he might actually just not be a girl named Zelda anymore), so he automatically introduces himself as just Sheik the spooky ninja man, and fuck he's in too deep to back out now, looks like he's committing to the bit. If you think you sense the Triforce of Wisdom on him, no you don't.

Cue shenanigans as the five of them attempt to hide that they're all actually kind of A Big Deal. The group motto is "Nobody says shit", which is usually delivered as a frantic hiss whenever someone slips up. Just the reunion between Sheik and Mask alone would be absolutely buckwild given how they parted, and how they're both frantically pretending to Not be involved with each other. For added hilarity and/or drama, Sheik gives his semi-bullshit cover story of having just been a friend of the Hero of Time, then runs into said Hero of Time and they both have to desperately pretend not to know each other, because if anyone picks up on the mountain of baggage between them then Mask is busted, and he won't hesitate to drag Sheik down with him out of sheer spite. Not to mention the weird balance of Sheik being used to this Link being a teenager that's actually a small child, and now has to adjust to Link who is a small child that's actually a teenager.

Also, i really feel like we're all missing out on the comedy potential of Ganondorf recognizing Young Link on sight and the two of them immediately launching into a grudge match with some extremely personal and specific insults on both sides. Meanwhile literally everybody else is just standing there watching, trying to process the fact that out of every single person that's been pulled out of time, Ganondorf only has personal beef with a literal nine year old.

I just feel like we're all really sleeping on the potential for Shenanigans here. The whole thing is an absurd mess, why not have some fun with it?

How did you come up with roleswap Elfilis' design? It's really cool!

Hi! Thank you so much! :D I'd love to share my thought process! Gather round the armchair by the fireplace, friends! It's story time!

I've said before that the Forgotten Land Roleswap started off as a doodle that swapped Dedede and Bandana Dee's roles as Player 2 and the Brainwashed Beast. But when I realized how fun that one little change was, how about EVEN MORE changes? That's how my one-time doodle turned into the full AU story. I swapped Meta Knight and Kirby, Clawroline and Leongar, and Sillydillo and Gorimondo- and because the story is so Waddle-Dee centric, I promoted Dedede to "Player 1" since the stakes would be higher for him as their King.

So now I had a story that had a lot of opposite traits to canon and I wanted to explore that further! When it came to the matter of Elfilin, I thought he would probably behave too similarly towards Dedede and Meta as he did to Kirby and Bandee. He'd be friendly and trusting, communicative, optimistic, knowledgeable, and cooperative. So how about providing them a travel companion who is defensive, has trouble communicating, a little wild, uninformed about themselves and the world around them, and has a bit of a temper?

But working with all these opposite traits didn't feel in-character for Elfilin anymore. So my natural next step was to swap Elfilin with Elfilis and make a new version of the Forgotten Land's lost little pup!

Enough yapping about the context behind my decisions, tho. How'd I come up with Roleswap Elfilis' design?

I see you out there, Fecto Forgo fans. Maybe somebody out there's thought, "Roleswap Elfilis does not look like them! Why not? That's what the other 50% of the Ultimate Life Form looks like! I demand justice for the angry glowing rat fetus!"

Maybe nobody has ever thought this. But I wonder sometimes lol

Your feelings are valid, friends. Please lemme explain my reasonings.

This fella, to me, is the abandoned wet specimen left to float in a jar for who-knows-how-long after a forcible physical and mental separation via spatial teleportation shenanigans. And I think part of their appearance is due to their role as the trapped and forgotten half.

The role of the half that got away fully formed his own body and inherited some traits from the complete being-

For Elfilin in canon, he got ears that are proportionally huge compared to the rest of his body, blue eyes that sparkle with the light of a thousand destroyed planets, a tiny bit of pink fur for his adorable blushies, and a really long fluffy tail. Maybe becoming a being free of chaos gave him those sweet eyes like Kirby and the Waddle Dees have.

My reasoning is that whichever half ends up escaping the Lab and fully forming their own body, they would carry the major physical traits the other wouldn't inherit.

Anyway, that left Elfilis with the horns, colorful and expressive eyes, whiskers, beige chest fluff, opposable thumbs, and pink tummy fur.

Elfilin gets the long tail in the bodily divorce so Elfilis has a short stubby little cotton tail like a bunny. Like if he ended up with just the very tip of the Ultimate Life Form's tail.

Behold this diagram above I came up with two years ago! Disclaimer: the canon Elfilin is the one in the chart. And I draw him a little differently these days lol. I ain't showing anyone how he ended up in the Roleswap yet tho!!!! >:0

But Roleswap Elfilis is more than just "baby version of the Ultimate Life Form..."

All the differences in the Forgotten Land Roleswap from canon stem from one event in the timeline. One change that I added to the events that were already supposed to take place. It's why the Ultimate Life Form split differently. Why the Beasts have different roles and aesthetics. Even why the portal took Bandana Dee and Kirby before Meta Knight and King Dedede.

How did that saying go again? The flap of wings somewhere can influence a bunch of huge changes somewhere else down the line...? What was the name of that theory again....? Hmm. Not important, I guess.

Anyway, the end!! You sly dog, you got me monologuing!!1! /lighthearted

AU idea inspired from I Don't Belong Here (I Wish I Was Special) on ao3 and the atla bnha swap au here on Tumblr

So we got the Bad Timeline with the BadFam, which are a lot like in the fic, trauma and abuse goes unaddressed or horrifically handled

But to toss Human!Tim a bone, Kon and Bart do come back to life, so he at least the Core four of YJ is all together again

(when I type YJ assume I mean the core four but if you want I can also mean all of YJ)

Unfortunately Tim is ✨Traumatized✨ and unwilling to cut ties with the BadFam cuz their "stability" is one of the things keeping him sane

And then we have the Hybrid Timeline, with their BatFam, Bruce is a bat or bird hybrid, Alfred is a hybrid (dealers choice), Dick is a robin hybrid, all the other kids are their own bird hybrids

And all the Wayne (Alfred too if you choose) have wings

In this timeline being an animal hybrid is the norm! Which adds another layer of identity shenanigans for aliens like Kryptonians who already had it hard enough feigning humanity

And also this Batfam? They did the impossible. They are !!emotionally healthy!!

Oh shit happens, mental health spirals, Jason died and came back and it was whole emotional rollercoaster, except Batman didn't bataraang his kid, first thing he did after learning Jason was alive was kidnap his son again and trap him in the nest and broody chicken style until he snapped out of his instincts

And then he nabbed his bio son cuz Jason snitches on Talia or Talia wants what's best for her son and an assassin's cult is NOT it, so she sent the kid his way

Batman here isn't abusing his kids, Robin was never fired, it got passed down from Dick to Jay.

I could rave on and on how the Batfam here is happy and healthy as can be but I got an AU to present

So the BadFam is on a mission, magical artifacts are involved, Red Robin secures it but uh oh, once the mission is over he accidentally activated it in the Batcave and the next thing the BadFam know?

Red Robin's still there, except, uh number one the very pretty wings, and also he looks healthier, like his needs are being taken care of

When he breaks out the "alt-self dimension-swap code" they know what they're dealing with and establish their Tim is stuck in a Hybrid world due to an artifact and vice versa

But what really matters is how jarring it is for Hybrid!Tim to be with a world without hybrids as the norm; people with his family's faces so hostile to each other; hostile to him in his eyes; nobody to give his instincts and hybrid side their needs

Under the guise of professionalism and "I have a family to return to" and using the fact the BadFam knows only what he shares of his home dimension, Hy!Tim keeps as much of a barrier between him and the BadFam as he can

He's from a family that spoils one another's instincts and social needs. One that does do jack shit about their issues and communicates about them. A family that isn't cannibalizing itself

Suddenly being with what feels like a bastardized version is scary and he does not like it

On Human!Tim's end, he's suddenly with a family that doesn't hate him and is willingly to help him

They're welcoming and it's unnerving?? And he has a family to return to, a mission to be loyal to. Oh God, what's gonna happen to his other self?

Exactly 24 hours after the first swap, the Tims swap back again and they figure out that for a limited but long time, they're gonna swap places every 24 hours

So they gotta get some help or tech that will cancel out the magic and since they dunno when it stops, they don't want the magic to run it's course and bam, both Tim's are dimensionally misplaced

Thankfully whoever and whatever a Tim has on their person during a swap comes with them so they can trade progress with eachother

Anyways, what matters after the second swap since the artifact's activation is that Hy!Tim instantly snitches to his family on all the red flags the BadFam raised during his time with them

And also no hybrid instincts or amenities, it was not a Good time for him, family nesting time please? :(

So while Hu!Tim thinks he's got any chance of a Good Grade in having people pay as little attention to him as possible during this trial, he's got another thing coming with the third swap when suddenly the whole family is checking on his well being

Hu!Tim grew up neglected and abused and would very much like no eyes on him, amd for all the freedom possible. He is screeching in indignation

But hey, his own family also wants him to stay with em so maybe they can convince the Hybrid Fam otherwise!

And his back hurts more than ever, but he'll get that treated once the artifact's magic ends, no need to bring it up

To Word of God the subtext; the artifact swaps the two Tim's every 24 hours and is slowly making Tim a bird hybrid himself and eventually he's gonna burst wings in a Gorey way

But before the wings and maybe after comes talons, bird noises, and instincts, which he might take a while to clock in on and will make his time away from the hybrid timeline more and more miserable as his transformation progresses

Dealer's pick if he's the same species as Hy!Tim or not

So Hu!Tim hides as much as he can get away with from the Badfam to draw as little animosity from them as possible but does the same with the HybridFam to try and protect the BadFam's name from stains on their reputation (ignoring his own)

Hy!Tim is gathering all the evidence on the BadFam's sins and other people's to make a sufficient case against them and to convince Hu!Tim to be adopted by his family

Oh yeah, it'll be fun if the two Tim's had notebooks they placed near them before their swaps to talk with eachother

Hell maybe one or both of their notebooks gets stolen by like a rogue and that could be an episode or chekhov's gun and— idk where to go w/ it

On top of that, Hy!Tim finds every excuse he can to hangout with Young Justice instead of the BadFam because he trusts YJ more than them to the point he feels safe to tell them the whole truth and even go as far as to nest with them and let em preen his wings

Eventually he asks em "my family is gonna kidnap my new brother, can I do the same with you?"

Okay not exactly with those words but that's the vibes

Let's say they agree and he holds onto the Badfam timeline's YJ during the swap and now there's double trouble

But also the BadFam and rest of the hero scene is wondering where the FUCK the YJ went after it becomes obvious they're missing

Hu!Tim is confused why he woke up in a nest in Titans Tower and why he wants to lie down there forever but it also makes him unhappy in a way

Hy!Tim only figures out afterwards what kind of mess he's made, but no take backs! He and Young Justice are Twinning!!! He'll just cover his tracks once's the swap happens again

Honestly two dimensional versions of YJ—one where humanity is the default, and another where hybrids are—interacting would be fun to see

Hybrid Batfam is exasperated because Tim you can't keep adopting and kidnapping like you're Bruce!

Me thinks that while Hy!Tim hides as much as he can, Hu!Damian, knowing his animals, clocks in on all the signs that Hy!Tim is miserable with the Badfam, doing loads of bird stuff that indicates him feeling unsafe and in danger and whatnot

What does Human!Damian do with this knowledge I wonder . . .

Maybe on the other side, Hybrid!Damian catches onto Hu!Tim becoming a hybrid and snitches and now Hu!Tim's chances at not getting adopted are down the gutter for good

Does the BadFam ever pick up on the possibility they're gonna be double-crossed or do they learn when it's too late? both routes would be fun to explor

There's also the fact that Hu!Tim isn't the only victim of abuse, neglect, and etc. in this family, it's entirely possibly that the Hybrid!Batfam will look at Human Damian, Jason, Steph, and Cass, etc. and draw up adoption plans for them too

I'm not abusing the fact that anything and anyone a Tim has on or touching their person swaps with them enough

Like maybe Hy!Tim brings over Jason, Damian, Steph and Cass (maybe Duke if he's with the BadFam yet) and plants the idea of being with his family away forever, away from their Batman

And now there's a third party in this game, one that can turn on itself and fracture at any moment

A third party in this game who has limited time to choose between cutting ties with their very dimension for a family practically clones of their own and themselves

Or they can go against that option. They can go as far as to reveal the double-crossing planned against the Badfamily by the Hybrid family

Seeing the infighting and discussions between them would be fun

Timothy the human? Well he isn't gonna be human much longer now is he, nor does he have much of a choice in this matter

I'm not paying attention to Dick, or Barbara or Alfred, either of em, at all lol, so sorry about that

Maybe Hu!Tim becomes desperate and swaps his Bruce and Dick (maybe even Bats Hy!Tim swapped) with him to try and get all three of them to help convince the Hybrid Fam that he doesn't not need rescuing from the Badfam at all

It goes poorly and maybe that's what gets the BadFam to wonder if they're gonna be double crossed or set the suspicion in stone if it already exists

I can imagine Hu!Jason trying to justify Titans Towers and etc. with his excuses of Replacement and whatever, only for Hybrid!Jason to go "me too bitch, you're not special, you're just an asshole (traumatized, yes, but that doesn't excuse shit)"

Finally, I imagine that where the BadFam is abusive, the Hybrid Batfam is Dark with some of it being attributed to hybrid instincts, and the rest of it's just personality

Batman doesn't kill because Killing is Kind, it's a fix doing nothing to address the problem, the Killed in question

This Batman and by extension, his baby birds, will not have death be the end, you are going to live with you actions and decide what to do from there

Hy!Tim is just kidnapping everyone he can get his hands on for either adoption or to beat the absolute crap out of them.

Having so many duplicates in one universe could cause problems, but I think they could work it out. The shenanigans they get up to would be ridiculous and hilarious. I feel bad for Alfred if they don't kidnap Hu!Alfred as well. I do have another idea, though.

What if Hy!batfam kidnap YJ and the batfam (minus Bruce) for just an extended period of time? Like they spend a few months to years there depending on their needs? Then, after they teach they to communicate with each other, they release them back to their OG universe.

When they go back, they find that Hu!Bruce and Hu!Joker are gone. The Hy!Batfam kidnap both of them for a bit to beat the crap out of them. Hu!Joker is returned when he can no longer be a criminal.

Not sure about Hu!Batman.

Also, the Hy!Batfam often visit the Hu!Batfam and YJ. They do like a cross universe long-distance relationship. As far as Tim, though, since he's turning into a hybrid, maybe he permanently moves in with the Hy!Batfam due to his needs with his instincts. That, or somehow the Hu!Batfam figure out how to help them. Though, maybe Bart wouldn't stay in the OG universe if Tim moved. Kon has Ma and Pa Kent (maybe Jon and Clark depending on how that's going), and Cassie has her mom and others. Maybe they still go with Tim despite that. Dealer's choice, ig?

It’s been an entire week since I shoved a bunch of STAR WARS fic recs at everyone, but I’m back with more because this fandom is amazing and ones that are some real doozies, like, I inhaled some of this fic and absolutely needed to scream about it. Whether it’s time travel fic (so many good time travel recs holy crap) or throwing two random characters together (time traveling Cal as Obi-Wan’s padawan, I never knew I needed that in my life!) or good character pieces for those who deserve it (Mace Windu my beloved) or some absolutely feral Obi-Wan and Anakin dynamics or peeling back Anakin Skywalker’s character like an onion until you see all the fascinating complexity underneath or Jedi Order worldbuilding (I love those weird psychic space wizards so much), there’s a little something for everyone here, I hope. One thing I will always appreciate about this fandom is that, whatever else you might say about it, there are some tremendously talented people writing fic that makes me fall in love with the characters all over again, who bring comfort with their writing when we’re having a bad day or bad week, who brighten up the world just by being in it and sharing their crafts with us, who make my world better just by being there. People who love these silly characters from our shows just as much as I do and are having some fun out there and giving me a whole lot of feelings and even the occasional sexy times fic to make the day just that much more fun to get through. I may say this every time, but it always remains true, this list is just banger after banger for me, every one of these made my brain light up with joy or fizziness because it was so good and punched me right in the feelings or the fun, fritzing out my thoughts place, to the point that I cannot believe I have 45+ of them for just this one set! The lovely thing about the Lovesquare, is just how many insane identity shenanigans can result from these two people. In fact, there are so many identity shenanigans between them that I've begun to pile them into archetypes, so now I have to wonder:

Definitions:

The "OG"- Just the plain ol' confused, but endearing lovesquare (included in this are any power-ups or kwami swaps)

The "Snekmouse"- A situation where they know the identity of the other, but they don't know they know and have to act like they don't know. Yes, they are idiots.

The "Lovewalker"- They are both multiple layers into a secret identity and are secretly missing the person, who is in actuality, sitting right next to them(can alternatively be known as the "Ladywalker if just a one-sided facade)

The "Secret Acts of Service"- They secretly deliver gifts (barrettes, scarfs, etc.) and/or do acts of service (telling off Lila, Chloe, etc.) without the other person knowing because they love, they're such good friends 🥰

The "Super-Civilian"- They, as a civilian must interact with, and fight alongside with their superhero partner, although this time using different powers, and with varying success. They often use this time to distance themselves from their hero identity.

The "Inter-Universal Square"- "Is this girl who is flirting with me, my lady? She kinda looks like her-" They are interacting, with some alternate universe/timeline version of themselves and/or with their partner, varying results ensue.

The "They Never Met"- Any situation where these two didn't meet according to the original timeline. They could have not have met as civilians, only one of them could have gotten a miraculous, or they could have never interacted as superheroes. This can include several enemy aus, as they never really knew each other.

I have an idea for a comic series that utilizes the train station like a shittier version of the spiderverse. the five verse if you will.

IDEAS I HAVE SO FAR

*starts at the subway diner, possibly during the scene that our five discovers it. but it's not gonna be him, some other five is gonna be the protagonist

*you know that weird chamber 100 year old five was in and how it was designed to prevent paradox psychosis? that's how the diner exists.

*the timeline divergence happened the second the marigold was released, allowing for more interesting timelines. One of them is a power swap universe, and somewhere along way in the station, five finds a Viktor (or someone else idk) who got the time jumping powers instead.

(I'm gonna call the protag five p!five bc there's a few fives here lmao)

*p!five at some point finds a timeline with an older five, who's living with a woman named dolores. but p! finds out that this isn't older five's universe. o!five found this timeline, where he truly got the life he wanted, and kinda disposed of that five and took his place. this part is to keep the themes of what i think the five/lila part was trying to do in a less weird but equally fucked up way. paradox psychosis shenanigans ensue and o!five is forced to return the original five to the timeline and leave.

*I want this story to still be focused on the umbrella academy as a whole, but with the way this idea works with the timeline stuff, idk how to make it *not* five-centric. maybe each "chapter" is focused on a new timeline. l

*In the diner scene when one of the fives said the problem was "us," i first thought he solely meant five. maybe we lean into that?

Background Shenanigans

*squints* yall seein this shit?

We were shown and told that the s2 title sequence was a direct continuation of s1’s

and yes that is true - it lines up pretty nicely

but is it? Is there not some timeline fuckery happening? Of course there is! This is Good Omens we are talking about.

and before we start here’s the obligatory reminder that this is just for fun (I understand that these things try to stay on a theme and that means some similar elements are going to show up) and to not ask Neil!! mwah.

So obviously we’ve been pretty focused on the s2 title sequence scouring it for clues about s3 but I decided to take a gander through the s1 one as well.

I’ve speculated before about a timeline switch being shown in the s2 TS* but what if there were hints of it happening back in the s1 TS?

The first thing that caught my notice was this,

No, not the Ark or the giant version of Hell’s Usher but rather the buildings. Oh no not the houses either, those broken rundown buildings holding up the Ark - yeah them. Those have a familiar aesthetic no?

and it’s not the only time those type of buildings show up either

Interesting that they are all pretty far in the background. Only getting closer once they go up another pretty familiar thing - the walkway (see the first image of the previous three)

but what’s so important about these rundown buildings? Well they are only everywhere in the s2 title sequence,

Just now we are walking among them, even going inside some.

Most prominently in the 1941 section. Where after we leave there it shows Aziraphale and Crowley doing the body swap while a timeline swap happens in the background*

So what’s happening?

Well even before we get to Noah’s Ark in s1’s TS. we see this,

the people are walking in that far background where later those run down buildings will be (with some very familiar birds anyone? I feel a sudden rainstorm coming). Now for the most part we see the walking people front and center in both TS’s but this shows that they are able to walk in the back - walk in another timeline perhaps?

In the s1 TS they are marching towards Armageddon. That fails. But hey here is this really close plan that has been going on in the background, why don’t we bring that forward and continue on that path? A march towards the Second Coming begins!

Both of these plans have been working towards the same goal - one from Hell and one from Heaven.

Two timelines running side by side and intersecting at certain points. hmmm.

my point - my point is that there were hints of s2’s TS theme in the s1 TS. Yeah that’s about it.

Sonic au summary list

Just to give a rundown of each one!

DC (Sonadow Harlivy) AU- Sonic and crew take on the roles of DC comics heroes and villains, shenanigans ensue as i pick and choose what i want to include and/or change from the multitude of dc comics timelines and continuities and mixing it with Sonic stuff for fun. The most significant roles are Sonic as Harley Quinn and Shadow as Poison ivy

SONIC & TAILS SWAP AU- Tails is the adventuring hero of mobius while Sonic is a pilot/mechanic who's a low-key genius

But along with the role swap I'm also changing Sonic's relationship with his own speed. I'm thinking that Sonic is insecure about his speed due to bullying and other jerks calling him a freak, he acts like it doesn't bother him and laughs it off but he doesn't run and if he has to run he deliberately slows himself down

His boots are even weighted down so that it's harder for him to reach high speeds

They have the same abilities, but because of how different their lives have been they utilise them in different way and have different interests and stuff like Tails’s smarts are targeted towards something different, he’s more interested in ancient ruins and learning about different cultures and stuff which leads him to go on some wacky adventures OZ AU- a sonic storybook situation but Shadow is the one being transported out of nowhere to the land of oz where he must travel great lengths to meet with the wizard of oz and find a way back home and face off against Oz's greatest threat, the wicked witch of the west who is... Sonic??? ROADTRIP AU- a coming of age, slice of life au where Amy makes an ill advised purchase while sleep deprived. She buys a bus. She buys a yellow school bus and for reasons (yet to be revealed) she decides to go on a trip to get away from home for a while. She ends up picking up a series of hitchhikers on the way, making friends, enemies and discovering things about herself on the way!

ONCE UPON A TIME (OUAT) AU- Eggman places an evil curse on the land which leaves our heroes stuck in a world with no chaos energy, no powers, no way out, stripped of their heroic deeds. Our world. They now reside in a town called storybrooke with no memory of their past lives, trapped and robbed of their happy endings, doomed to live in misery. Time is frozen in this town until someone special comes to visit, a saviour to rescue the fallen heroes and undo this evil curse.

Then all the way in station square, Cream the Rabbit is gifted a mysterious storybook by her mother on her 6th birthday, something her father left behind for her, and Vanilla informs her daughter that they will be moving into her Father’s old family house as per his final wishes, located in a town called ‘Storybrooke’.

And Cream will soon find that the town’s residents seem awfully similar to the characters in her new book…
