I have an issue that I have a very strong attachment to my main brush that works really well for silly doodles and comics ect, but is absolutely horrible for detail work that requires smooth shading 😭
I have to use another brush for it! but when I do, it's just not the same! I'm always dissatisfied with whatever brush I try to use!
#the brush i always use it called yeti rough#i looooove it's unevenness#it looks really pleasing to me!#to the point that i dont really like using smooth line brushes all that much#so when i do do detail work i gotta go back and erase the lineart carefully to make it manually uneven and its just! a lot of work!#sigh#i need a good alt brush but i cant FIND one that meets exactly what im looking for

I've been doing digital art for almost 2 years now, with little to no practice on actual paper for these 2 years, and that got me thinking did I Lose my touch with traditional art, Haven't picked up an actual paint brush in so long. Its easy to get lost in the vast possibilities that digital painting softwares offer, ranging from hundreds of brush textures, to tools to make your shaky lines smooth, making the perfect circles, filing a solid colour in an instant.
Where you absolutely dont have to wait for your oils or watercolor to dry up before going for the next layer, and most importantly no need to spend dollars on art supplies and if you make any mistake the undo option is always there for you.
It did make painting easier in a way, but it also comes with its own cons, when I started digital painting I felt like I had to learn from scratch how to use the particular software, and had to learn to paint all over again. Tho it catches up quick but still figuering out how to use each tool, how all the functions, brushes, layers, blend modes work. It does take some time.
Nevertheless I ventured from my point, so since I've been painting dgitally for 2 years I figured its time to indulge in some traditional work, touch base and see If im still worthy.
I tried painting a couple of small canvas and got stuck figuring out what to draw, to have the exact outcome planned out because if I decide halfway through coloring my background that I dont like how it looks, I dont have a ctrl Z to help me this time, I'll have to paint over the whole thing and start from scratch. Painting on the canvas directly is a commitment and theres a looming pressure that the outcome should look beautiful and completed, and I already have enough anxiety, not really excited about been anxious about the thing i love.
One warm afternoon I picked up a tiny notebook I had, bought it on a whim last year and it has been sitting on my shelf since then, its a 4"x4" pocket notebook with decent paper quality, perfect to try out the random black gel pen I found lying around. And I got to it, found a cozy warm place and made a small pen sketch of a tree. The texture looked nice, i did mess up a couple timeson the leaves but since its just a disposable paper I didnt worry much on it, just covered it up with more scriblings. It felt pretty good, ad I realised with digital art the one thing I'm missing is customisign how I organise and decorate my work collection.
With digital software all your art is stored as mere .png or .jpg or whichever format you prefer, but thats it, its just a photo album, unlike a sketchbook where you can decorate the cover, add a couple of sticker or notes to it, stick a dried flower you found, or just about anything creative.
The overall feel of a sketchbook is entirely different and I dont have to worry about each page looking like a finished work.
I love painting digitally but painting on a sketchbook is almost nostalgic, so I finally started one.
Got myself a small A6 sketcbook with a pretty floral cover, cut out the pen sketch i did and glued it on the first page, and thus started to fill each page with totally random unrelated paintings.
So anyway this was a lengthy way to tell you how painting on a sketchbook somehow made me improve my art, and felt incredibly amazing, tho I've completed just couple pages, each page looks beatifull in its own way, and i got to try out a couple of pens, and paints that I havnt used in so long.
got to try doing simple portraits, tried to double tap multiple times on the page (stupid muscle memory).
so anyway here are a few pages that I have completed, and if you did read till the end, thanks for bearing with the (rant)?

Omg for the eremin x reader au, so Eren and Armin got together way before the reader joined the equation, so she’s hella insecure and shy around them even though they love her you know? Which leads to her distancing herself from them because they don’t need her anyway, right? Just imagine the soft and hot heated make up session they had once the boys find out that their princess feels like she’s not that important to them.
please. gonna make it a part two this
Cw: eren is mean at the beginning but he makes up for it <3 smut, the usual.
you becoming armins girlfriend but it leaving an empty feeling in your chest because you like eren too, knows how he looks at you and wishes he would just act on it. he’s there when armin fucks you, when armin makes you cream all over his cock, and sometimes he’ll join in, but he rarely touches you, the closest he’s gotten is holding you against his chest and spreading your legs for armin to fuck into you. you’d been turned on but also jealous of the way eren had leaned over the lock armin in a kiss, their tongues tangling, wishing you could kiss him.
It comes to a breaking point when eren displays his possessiveness again, hating how much armin is falling in love with you and how much he wants you too. He uses your desire to please him against you, makes you sit on a chair and watch as he fucks armin. They look so hot together, but it makes you feel a little squirmy on the inside, not being able to participate. And its made even worse when eren turns armins jaw so he’s looking at you, tells him “look at your little girlfriend watching you get your ass pounded, baby. tell her how good your daddies cock feels”
Armin, lost in the pleasure, of course doesn’t know any better. Looks at you with big blue puppy eyes as eren fucks his tight little hole and moans, “d-daddies cock feels so good inside me”
“Bet she wishes she could feel it” eren grunts. “Your girlfriends a little slut who wants your boyfriends cock, sweetheart, just look at her drooling over it. You wanna be armin, baby?”
You squeeze your thighs shut and dont answer. But eren knows, “Yeah, you do. Wanna feel what he feels every night when i slide my fat cock into his little boypussy. Desperate slut, wanna remind me what a real cunt feels like? hm?”
Armin whimpers under him, curling his legs around eren and dragging him down for a kiss. Eren keeps eye contact with you when he pushes his tongue into armins mouth, fucks him through his orgasm and coos in his ear, “that’s it baby, come for daddy, be my good little girlfriend and show me yours is the only wet hole i need”
Armin doesn’t know what eren has done, doesn’t know he’s pushed you away with just that line. Thinks this was all just kinkplay, and he’s so sweet. Making grabby hands for you and offering to get you off, tugging you towards his face, but you pull away.
When you leave that night, flicking a glance at the bed where eren cradles armin to his chest, watching you go with his jaw clenched, you send a message to armins phone, before blocking them both on all forms of media.
‘I can’t do this anymore. I’m sorry’
You don’t know about the explosive fight that occurs between armin and eren the next day. Armin has never been more angry, and it makes eren backpedal, try to hold him but armin just slaps his hands away. Tells eren he loves you and he knows eren likes you too so why is he so mean?
Eren can do nothing but clench his teeth together and stare at the ground as he admits he doesn’t want to lose armin, and doesn’t want to need anyone else but him. Armin reminds him he’s okay with armin needing you, so armins okay with eren needing you too. He wants eren to want you, has timdily encouraged eren touching you or having sex with you a couple of times, but never psuhed it, though he notices erens lingering stares on you.
Eren feels horrible, for pushing you away, for making you leave armin, for making you leave him. He just wanted armin to be happy, he didnt expect to want to make you happy too, or to want to open his arms to you. He knows he has to make it right, not just for armin but for him too.
-----
When you come out of your workplace, you don’t expect to see eren there, nor do you really want to. He’s leaning casually against the back of his car, smoking a cigarette, but he puts it out when he sees you, crushing it under one of his combat boots. He looks sheepish.
“Hey-”
You don’t give him the time of day though, breezing by him. You don’t have a car so you planned on walking to the bus station. Usually armin came to pick you up, but considering you’d basically ended things with him, you hadn't expected any rides anymore.
“Hey” Eren says again, and this time he’s right behind you, hand grabbing your arm to stop you. He turns you to him. “We need to talk”
You wish he wasn’t so pretty. You let yourself look at him, his stubble, his jade green eyes, the boyish way his hair falls into his eyes. But you shake your head. “No, we dont. You made that clear”
You pull away from him and start walking again. “Armin misses you” He calls out, but you don’t stop.
“I miss you.”
Okay, you stop at that. Don’t turn around though. You hear his footsteps approach, feel his warmth at your back as he stops, too close. “I miss you” He says again. “Come with me?”
You turn to look at him again, “Why should i? You miss me? You don’t even like me, jaeger. If you hated me being with your boyfriend so much why did you even ask me too?”
He bites his lip, shifts on his feet and you can tell his uncomfortable. You’d gathered awhile ago that he wasn’t good with emotions. Tough shit. If he wanted you to get in his car, he’d need to explain some things.
He puffs out his cheeks and palms the back of his neck, and to your surprise, there is a rosy blush that starts to bloom on his cheeks. You don’t think you’ve ever seen eren blush. “I don’t like sharing what’s mine. And armin is mine” He says that with finality.
You nod your head, starting to turn again. “Right-”
He catches you again. “But so are you” His gaze traps you.”I let you be armins because i thought i wouldn’t care, he still belongs to me, and i belong to him and you...weren’t supposed to belong to anyone. I didn’t want you too”
You naw at your bottom lip, dipping your head, wondering where he’s going with this.
“But you do” He breathes out, making you look up again. His eyes are sharp, serious. “You belong to armin, you’re his girlfriend and he’s not letting you go, if i hadn’t come today he’d be here on his hands and knees begging for you to come back. and...what’s his is mine so..”
“So..?” You prod, breathless.
“So you’re mine” He concludes. “Ours. I really wanna fuck you”
The last part is said so casually you jerk, but eren keeps you steady. Pulls you in. Leans down and tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear. “Let me bring you back with me” his lips brush against yours. “So i can finally fuck my girlfriend”
You do in fact let him bring you back.
---
It’s surreal being between armin and eren, having them both touch you. You’re used to armins touch, but erens is new. You’re all shaky and acting like a skittish virgin when eren leans back against the headboard, lazily stroking his cock as armin fingers you open for him.
His soft lips at your ear, “You take my cock so nice, baby. But daddy’s big. He’s gonna stretch you so good”
“Keep talking about my big dick and im gonna nut before i even get to fuck her” Eren grunts, eyes glued to wear armins slender fingers are sliding in and out of your slick cunt.
Armin just giggles “But s’true, daddy. You’re gonna split her wide open. She’s tight too” He croons, making you whimper when he curls his fingers just right. “Had her pretty pussy all to myself for so long and she still squeezes my cock, You’ll like it”
Eren eyes are all heat, eating you up. “Oh, i know i will. Daddy’s been wanting to fuck that cunt for ages”
“S’that so?” Armin sounds a little condescending, having not been apart of their fight, you can’t tell he’s being kinda petty when he says. “Gonna have to show my girlfriend how much you appreciate her then, if you want her to be your girl you’ll have to make her cum lots, kay? Otherwise im keeping her for myself and you can sit there and watch like you always do while i show her how a good boyfriend fucks their girlfriends pussy”
He dips his lips to kiss your jaw, keeping eye contact with eren when he does. “If daddy doesn’t make you cum stupid, i’ll dump him”
Your cunt squeezes around his fingers at the same time eren growls and reaches out, practically plucking you from armins arms and placing you above him.
You brace your hands on his board chest as the tip of his thick cock teases your hole, “w-wait”
“Mm, fuck that” He moans, and pops the head in, eyes fluttering shut and rolling into the back of his skull when your the heat of your fluttering cunt envelops him, silky and smooth and wet, he guides you down the thick length of him. His head thunks against the headboard. “Jesus, fuck”
“E-eren” you whine, poor pussy squeezing around him helplessly as its stretched wide and filled to the brim with him.
He bounces you once, making you choke on a whimper. “That’s not what we call me”
Your eyes fill with overwhelmed tears, but you feel armins lips touch your spine as he kisses your back, encouraging you. “Go on, baby”
You wrap your arms around erens neck. “D-daddy” you say, hesitantly, barely breathing the word.
But eren groans so loud, and eats your lips up in a kiss, rocking you back and forth on his cock, grinding you on it. “Yeah, baby” he pants into your open mouth. “Daddy’s got you. Gonna fuck my sweet little girlfriend tight pussy like she deserves”
“About fucking time you did” you think you hear armin mutter, but you’re already to fucked out to care.

A harem collab in which we go to a party with our v precious hero 18+ Smut boooiiii
Sitting across from him never did get easier. As much as you told yourself it would.
If anything it got harder and harder to share the same room as him, let alone air.
But you were lucky enough, or unlucky enough, to join the agency when you did and to be partnered with your big time crush FatGum. Although you idolized him you were sure he didn't remember you.
And how could he? He saved countless people a day so it should be no surprise that he had no idea who you were on your first day. Still, it stung.
And it shouldn't still sting or come to a surprise when he sets down a flyer on your desk. A huge smile on his chubby cheeks as he taps the sheet of paper.
"Can you believe it?! The agency is throwing a new year's eve party!" He practically gushes, lingering by your desk with his intoxicating smile. He rummages in his brown bag, setting breakfast onto your desk careful to avoid getting grease stains on the flyer as if you'd hang it up one day instead of shoving it into the trash.
"They have one every year." You shrug, thanking him for the breakfast but tossing the paper into the trash can. His smile never waivers as he pulls it from the fresh bin, returning it to the smooth wooden top.
"Yea but not at a fancy hotel and never an open bar! We should go!" His eyes crinkle in the corners and your heart hammers in your chest.
Little do you know he prays to the Gods you don't say no.
"I dont know, it's such short notice. Like next week ain't it?." At least it wasn't a no. He smiles, thinking of your competative behavior.
"Oh I see what it is." He takes the sheet from your desk, waltzing to his own, "You're scared."
"Tch, scared of what?" You hiss, snatching for the paper.
"Scared I'll out drink you!" He laughs at your cute scowl as you size him up. His metabolism was insane, and with him being in his larger state you might not be able to win.
But he didn't have to know that.
"You fucking wish you could out drink me! Remember the last party we went to? You showed your age and could barely stand!"
"Oi! I was much thinner then. I think luck is on my side this time." He slaps his belly and you smile. A genuine laugh fills the room causing Taishiro's heart to clench.
"Yea, yea." You wipe away a tear, "We'll see."
The day drags on and on, turning into a week of you glancing his way. Making sure he wasn't gaining any extra weight as he brought you your normal breakfast daily.
It wasn't until the day of the party did you gain the advantage, a fight almost turned wrong and Taishiro had to use majority of that stored fat for a deadly punch to stop the villain from terrorizing the city.
Still you'd never want this type of advantage just for a stupid drinking contest. Although he was not at his largest, he still had a considerable "dad bod" going on.
"I still can't believe they had a tux in this size so late!" Taishiro shouts into the locker room at the agency, adjusting his tie as he waits for you. Meanwhile nerves eat you alive as you stare into your reflection, wondering if this dress fit okay, smoothing the fabric over your stomach self consciously.
"You okay in there? We're gonna be late." He calls softly, hoping you aren't having second thoughts about going with someone like him.
"Coming!" You call back, glancing at your deep amber dress a final time before rushing into the hall.
"I was just thinking you were going to forfeit and then I-" Words die in his throat and he drinks you in. Beautifully complimented by the shape and color of your dress as he mouth hangs agape.
"Wow. You look…"
"Tai, I know, I look...different."
"Amazing, perfect, breathtaking." He gives you a pointed look, "Which is no different than how you normally look."
Heat creeps up the back of your neck and you're thankful he misses your flustered expression. The walk to the hotel and the brisk cold air gives you time to not only cool off but think.
Really reflect on the year, this horribly rotten, all bad luck year. Reminding you of all the times you had failed but also reminding you of all the opportunities you had missed. And not opportunities in the sense of promotions or saving people but opportunities to get closer with a certain somebody.
You glance up at him and he glances down at you, smiling in a way that sets your skin on fire and yet it makes you feel at ease.
Slowly you were coming to hate it.
"I'm excited that they decided to invite some smaller agencies. Means I can introduce you to some of the kids I interned. Well I guess they are adults now huh." He looks nostalgic, sad even as he stares into space. Opening the door to the large hotel and it the look sticks with him until he is just before the party doors.
"Ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." You huff as he places his hand on the small of your back, bringing you into the rented ballroom. Lights and sounds consume your sense as music dances around light conversation. You're beginning to wonder if a drinking contest was such a good idea that is before you see the CEO of your agency totally shit faced. You glanced down at your watch, it was only 8pm.
Taishiro guides you around the room with a "starter" drink, introducing you to old and new faces. Beaming with pride as he introduces you as his partner and not his sidekick like other heroes had done in the past. You hated how much your heart raced.
"And this is Kirishima! He was one of my best and most memorable! Kids got guts and heart in spades!" He slaps Kirishima on the back and the young man slumps forward with a sharp toothed smile.
"Aw come on, I wasn't that great…" He scratches the back of his head.
"I heard that's when you became 'unbreakable'! I think that's so cool!" You gush over the young hero complimenting him to no end.
"Stop. You'll give me a big head." He smiles, blushing furiously before his eyes wander to the closeness of the two of you and then they settle on your drinks, "You're not trying to out drink the infamous FatGum are you?"
You laugh loudly before leaning in close as if to share a secret.
"Oh, yes and I plan to kick his ass."
Kirishima returns your smile and stage whispers
"Taishiro-sama has lost a good bit of weight. I believe in you!" He winks before someone across the room calls for him, "Call me when you get really started!!"
Two hours pass and you find yourself sitting across from your partner with his sleeves rolled up. Showcasing those deadly forearms as he slams back another shot. Kirishima keeps tally on hotel stationary and announces the number of shots.
"You'll have to take five to be in the lead! You'll have two minutes to decide to forfeit or-" But before he can finish you're grabbing for one of the prefilled shot glasses.
"Kanpai!" You shout, slinging them down, ignoring how the room is spinning and how bright the light reflects off of the table full of empty shot glasses.
Kirishima's eyes widen as you down an extra shot for good measure, tallying the booze count with worry.
"Fat hero." He says, almost gritting his teeth, "You'll have to take seven to be in the lead."
The large hero leans on his forearms on the table, the alcohol he's had had mostly been processed and maybe your figured that out. That he was starting to lose his edge so he takes you up on the challenge knocking back the several shots as if they were water. You're eager to gulp down a few more praying it drowns out your feelings for the sexy man across from you, instead he lets his broad hand hover over the shot glasses. Silently giving you a reprieve and noticing just how much you're sweating, how blown your pupils are.
"Let's give it a minute shall we?" He smiles as you drown in his golden eyes. Biting at your lower lip and with a defiant grip you swallow down a final shot.
"Your turn." You focus hard to make sure your words didn't slur, not wanting this feeling or night to end. He snorts, shaking his head wishing you acted out any other time than this.
"I forfeit." He places his hands up and you glare at him as you wonder if he did it on purpose. Before you have the time to accuse the crowd erupts into a deafening cheer, the room lags as you try to place names with faces as they come close to congratulate you. As more and more people crowd you, the hotter the room feels. Politely you excuse yourself to an enclave balcony closing the doors tightly behind you as you gulp down air, desperate to cool off and douse the desire that burns hot in your belly seeping to your core.
"Fuck." You rake your nails through your hair as a hit of icy air skates along your skin leaving goose flesh in its wake. A steady warmth comes from behind you, voice deep as he speaks softly. You can tell he's using the same tone he uses on victims, trying not to startle them with his size.
Little did he know how much you loved how much bigger he was. A safe haven, protection embodied.
"Ready to go home?"
"No I'm fine! Perfectly fine." He sucks his teeth at your stubborn reply, leaning in close with his hands in the pockets of his tux.
"You look flushed...you seem out of it."
"I'm totally of sound mind!" A bark to which he laughs, giving in to the liquid courage as his large hand tilts your chin towards him. Flirting with a line he swore he'd never cross.
"Yea, if you're so sound of mind, would you let me do this?" He asks, leaning closer, lips almost brushing yours. Your breath mingles with his in little puffs of fog agaisnt the cool air and suddenly you're burning again.
From the inside out.
His lips touch yours, gently, passive at first and if he's trying to fight against his urges. Slowly he breaks away, amber eyes glued to your mouth before he sighs. Hoping he didn't just fuck everything up.
In an instant you're drawing him back to you, hands in his golden wheat hair and your fingers weave through the strands. Mouth opening and demanding more as his large hands grip onto your ribcage as if you'd float away.
And maybe you would, you felt like you could.
Frantically your hands demand more, exploring up his shirt, touching across his stomach and digging your nails down his back. His own hands follow suit, gripping at your ass and tits, memorizing every luscious curve until he is drunk off of you and you only. You moan into his mouth and with that he loses all restraint.
Shoving you against the harsh brick building, fisting your hair to tilt your head for better access, exploring your mouth with his well skilled wet muscle. Hands trailing beneath your dress to find your dress, squeezing at your thick thighs and when you moan in approval he moves higher and higher still until his fingers brush against the damp fabric. This time it is his turn to groan as he presses his hardened cock against you, your hips move to grind against his large fingers.
"Please Tai" It is soft, breathy, sending him into a frenzy as he gives you exactly what you want. Letting his fingers slip beneath the fabric to gather the slick between your folds, gently rubbing against your throbbing clit. You arch against his touch, exposing your neck to him, he leans over and bites. Placing kisses along your throat, making sure to be careful enough to avoid marks before his hazed brain causes him to speak.
To confess.
"Do you know how long I've wanted to do this?" He asks, plunging his fingers into your tight heat, stretching you as you mewl, "Ever since I first laid eyes on you. Kamisama you were perfect. And tonight. Fuck baby. Wearing my eye color for all to see. You want people to think you're mine?"
"Yes, Taishiro. I want people to think I'm yours." You moan, fucking yourself on his fingers before he takes over. Setting a quick pace before he curls his thick fingers just right, in an instant you're creaming against his digits. Crying out as he overstimulates you before he covers your mouth with his broad hand, reminding you just how much he dwarfs you.
It makes you cum again and again and he corners you against the wall. Cock twitching as he laps up your sinful faces with a gluttonous appetite.
"Please Tai, pleeeasse."
"What's wrong baby? My fingers not enough?" His cocky tone drives you mad and your hips buck against his touch before he withdraws from your heat. Panting he levels his gaze yo you.
"Is this what you want?" Peppering you with kisses as if you could deny him and his godly hands.
"Don't make me beg Tai…" You rasp, he gives a devilish smile.
"Then I won't." His hands slink up your dress, gathering it at your waist as on skillful finger pulls the overly damp underwear away from your soaking sex. He frees himself and you swallow, not realizing just how large he was, for a moment you worry you won't be able to take him.
"I'll be gentle." He coos, easing himself in an inch at a time as your stretch around his thick cock. Pussy fluttering as it adjusts to his size, he gathers your legs to his sides, squeezing your hips to keep from rutting into you roughly. He pistons his hips slowly, watching your face contort as he angles himself just right. Sensual thrusts have your legs and pussy squeezing him so deliciously tight. Still he worries he's going to hurt you.
"You okay?" Alcohol lingers on his breath and you swallow him whole with a kiss. Moaning into his mouth softly as he rocks you into one of your most intense orgasms to date. It's a slow build, undeniably intoxicating as his steady pace hits your spongy soft spot and his pelvis rubs against your clit. The coil in your stomach snaps and your body clamps onto the behemoth of a man tightly, stars dot your vision as he continues to fuck you through it.
"God you're so beautiful ya know? So responsive to my touch. Taking me so well baby." He purrs against your ear, "Makes me want to keep this pace all night."
He keeps true to his promise, bringing you to new heights at the steadiest of paces, causing you to lose count of how many times you've cum on his length. Pussy attempting to milk him dry as he palm swallows your screams. He looks at your features, your makeup running from delirious tears, mouth fallen opened in a propetial O as your hair clings to your skin.
"Kamisama you're like art." He kisses your quickened pulse, "Ready for me to fill you love? You're squeezing me so tight"
He groans and all you can think of his him and the searing pleasure that courses through your veins to settle in your over sensitive heat. His cock twitches and you want nothing more than to be stuffed full of the Fat Hero's fat cock and his cum. But words are lost in your hoarse throat and all you can do is nod, moaning his name as if it were a prayer. It's all the encouragement he needs, quickening his pace as the crowd inside grows louder. Counting down from 10.
It's all lost to you and his hips snap against you, the brick scraping against your shoulders as his grip on you becomes so tight you're sure you'll bruise. Your body hyper aware of every little sensation as you drown in pleasure and warm amber sun, he groans, painting your walls in hot ropes of cum, your vision spots as your body arches to meet him as your spams a final time while his lips crash to yours.
All the while fireworks erupt over head, bringing in the new year on a literal high note.
He huffs, sweating as he looks at you, still buried to the hilt. Swiping his thumb over your cheek and running mascara before he breathes out so gently.
"Happy new year baby."

Shooting up in a silent scream, your hand flies to your neck as the last remnants of your nightmare dissipate. Breath coming in sharp, rapid inhales, you glance around the barracks and find no one else awake. Soft snores fill the room, and you shake your head to yourself, rubbing at your eyes.
No good to fall back asleep, now.
Your entire body covered in cold sweat, you pluck at the front of your shirt, fanning yourself out as you swing your legs off the bed. A chill travels up your pants and through the holes of your shirt as you glance out the windows. Lunar light is streaming through but the moon itself is already fading. You get up, meandering over to the windows to look out. Some of the Scouts are on guard duty, as always, but other than that—tranquility.
So weird to think they have that when outside the walls, it’s a lawless land.
Leaning forward, you move until your nose nearly touches the glass, and someone else in the room shifts with a grunt. You look over your shoulder, trying to decipher the shadows when a rough voice calls out right next to you.
“Creampie?”
Slapping a hand over your mouth so you don’t scream, you look down. Reiner.
“What are you doing up?”
“Did I wake you?” you question warily, and he leans into the moonlight, squinting at you as he rubs at his face. Shaking his head briefly, he studies you with a narrowed glare and you almost want to shift back into the shadows at the perpetually annoyed expression on his face but you’ve learned that he just looks like that. “You can go back to sleep.”
“Are you cold? You look like you’re shivering.”
“No, I’m okay.” Liar. You think even your bones are chattering.
He sits up, tossing his blanket off. “I can get you another blanket from the supply closet,” he mutters wearily. Standing, he pushes himself up and nearly into your personal space but he stops right in front of you, placing a hand on your shoulder. “C’mon. Back to bed.” He flashes a quick smile before brushing past you and words bubble inside your throat as you turn to watch him sink back into the darkness.
You whisper after him: “I had a nightmare about Marco.”
It is all it takes to make Reiner freeze. He turns around immediately, and you see his eyes before anything else. Wide with guilt, with grief. You lower your own head in shame.
“I’m sorry. I know I should try to move on, but he died all alone. It’s all I can think about. He must’ve been so scared” Keeping your tone as quiet as you can, you turn your face back to the night as he returns to your side. You stare at the stars and point absently at the one twinkling down at them both. “This older kid at the farm used to tell me all that every new star is another soul joining the heavens. Do you think…” Your arm falters and a weak sigh pushes past your lips as Reiner catches your falling hand in his own. You feel the calluses on his palms against your fingers as you swallow tightly. “Maybe that one is Marco?”
Your fingers interlace with Reiner’s as he wraps an arm around your waist, and you let him pull you towards him as he presses a rough kiss against your brow. The motion makes your entire being freeze in motion as he sighs, lowering his head. His breath flutters against your skin, and you wonder if he feels your heart tripping over in your chest. The tip of his nose brushes along your forehead, before he lets go of your hand, and you feel like ice digs into the fingers when his heat leaves. His arm around your waist falls and your head ducks.
The moment’s passed.
“That’s a good way to see it.” Stepping away, you watch his figure slouch, the way his shoulders cave in, and you can’t help the next words that come out.
“I miss him. All the time. Him. And Thomas. Mina. Like they’re watching me on my shoulders, weighing me down. I can’t see them,” you continue, “but I feel them. All the time. I’m doing everything wrong and I’m letting them down.”
“Hey, don’t think like that,” he commands sternly, eyes flashing up to meet yours. It’s chilling, how much you’re inclined to believe him, but you don’t even nod as he grasps your shoulder. “You did what you could, alright? You just keep going, one foot in front of the other. You were one of the best in our class.”
“I wasn’t even top ten,” you snort.
“Grades doesn’t make a soldier. Annie should’ve told you that it was all bullshit,” he says and you wince to yourself, lips pressing together You know he’s partially right, but you don’t have the strength to argue the rest. Guiding you back to bed, Reiner gently pushes you back down onto the cot and you fall back, lacing your fingers over your stomach.
Craning your head up at Reiner, you look at him looming over you, silhouette outlined in silver. He stares down at you, his expression shrouded, and you wonder what he’s thinking in that mind of his.
Your hand lifts from your stomach, and taps on the open space beside you. A soft thump-thump, like your pulse, like an invitation.
He turns away to glance back at the bed, and the moonlight hits his pale face blindingly. Squinting, you try to discern what emotion plays at his face as a sinking sensation begins to drag at your insides.
He’s going to walk away, a voice inside crows. Who do you think you are? Seducing the guy you have a crush on? As if.
You want to take it back. Excuse it as a moment of weakness. A brief, Can we forget I just did that? They could just move on with their lives knowing some lines are better left uncrossed.
But then, there is a weak: “This one time, alright?”
Every word turns to dust in your mouth.
He turns back to you before you can respond and crawls into the space next to your own. Your heart lurches in your chest as he settles beside you with a silent groan.
He lifts an arm and you scoot closer, your head resting on his shoulder. Ear pressing into his chest, the soft thunder of his heart fills your entire body as he pulls you tight. Glancing up at him, you watch as his eyes slide shut tightly.
Your own face crumples and you bury it in his chest. “She’d say,” you continue on quietly, “that the the brightest stars were the fiercest warriors.” He stiffens as you twist the fabric of his shirt in a tight fist and your stomach twists as you try to find the words. The shadows are closing in on you, and you can only anchor yourself to the arm swathed around you as you whisper his name. “I was pretty much all alone after she left to find work a few years back. It’s part of why I joined the corps, but I heard she’s back there, now, and—”
“Don’t. Don’t tell me.”
What?
Head jerking up to look at him, you meet a strong jaw clenching in a sharp scowl. His hand on your arm traces smooth circles and a drowsiness begins to flood your senses as he lets out a soft groan, rolling onto his side and pulling you flush against his chest. A leg slipping between his, you tilt into his chest as his arm wraps around your waist and it’s so tight you can barely breathe. Your arms crushed between their chests, your fingers twist the collar of his shirt and your nose brushes his chin when you shift against him.
“It just makes all this harder,” he explains hoarsely.
A heat blooms in the small distance between their bodies as you nod. You understand.
The wooden bedframe creaks beneath their weight as the hand on your back migrates to your shoulder blade and he buries his face in the plane of your shoulder. The searing skin of his temple against your jaw and your stomach in knots, you nuzzle yourself closer.
“I really am sorry for waking you,” you whisper, freeing your arms so you can loop them around his neck, thread your fingers in his hair but he doesn’t acknowledge your words. Their every breath is shared, and you swear their hearts are touching through the thin walls of their skin and sinew.
A gentle wave crashes over you when he hooks his fingers onto your shoulder, so unbearably close that you wish he’d either come closer or push himself away. You want to sink into his chest, hold onto him for the rest of the night as your eyes begin to flutter shut. His arms tightening around you, you think for a moment, you can finally relax. He’s just so warm.
“I know since Annie joined the MPs, there’s a sort of emptiness in you. You miss her. I get that.” Reiner lifts his head, arms withdrawing a bit. “I’m okay with you using me to fill whatever space she used to, but I can’t—” You hear a soft inhale above and you look up. You wonder if he can feel your racing heart under his palm. He’s already looking at you, and when your eyebrows rise in silent question, he shakes his head and looks away, lips curling into a scowl you barely see in the darkness. “I can’t.”
You can’t what, Reiner? Why won’t you look at me?
Then, he shivers, eyes shutting tight as he ducks his head again, and his cheek presses against your temple. Your eyes widen when his arms seem to pull you infinitely closer. “Shit.” More softly to himself: “Never mind. I’ve gotta go back to my bunk.” His breath is warm against your skin. A shudder shoots through you. “I can’t sleep in your bed.” A squeeze of your waist. Your leg slides against his thighs and he only hugs you tighter. “This isn’t right. I shouldn’t—”
“I’ll let go in a minute,” you tell him softly.
Hs hand flattens along the top of your spine, spreading as if he’s afraid you’ll disappear if he doesn’t catch you. Cradling your head, his hand burns your skin.
When you wake up, it is alone to a mattress underneath your back, but Reiner waits until everyone leaves the room before he kisses your cheek good morning. It’s a one-time occurence, you know, but still, it’s nice.
.
Walking towards the edge of the internment zone, Reiner spots the newspaper cart milling with people, no doubt buying the new papers relaying the Marleyan victory in Fort Slava. The crowd is cheering to one another and his hands roll into fists as the line shifts forward. Meandering nearer, he can’t help but think of Paradis.
It was nothing like the hell they’d described. There were just tall walls, and people. Sure, they were behind a couple of years, technology wise, but they were relatively the same.
One thing that’s different though, was that there had never been the need for papers within the Walls. And if there was news to relay, you would come with the fresh news from Section Commander Miche, or Captain Levi. He’d always read your face as you gave the news—if your eyes still had a spark in them, that meant it had to have a hint of good news.
And you had been so relieved once you reached Utgard Castle you had hugged him so tight that he couldn’t breathe when he caught those eyes glimmering in the dawn. He remembers holding you tight against him with his ‘uninjured’ arm and the way you had just…
You had gone to him first. Not Bertholdt, not Connie.
Him.
And he had gone to you first, when he had seen you swaying in your seat atop a horse who hung his head low. He couldn’t even remember anything else, except seeing you and breaking away from his group, galloping towards you and Bertholdt. You were bloody, a corpse sitting up—his entire body had felt his heart drop into the depths of his stomach, the seizing in his gut. Even after he had thrown your confession into the dirt, stepped on it, told you it couldn’t be—he had betrayed that all in an instant seeing you with Death’s hand on your shoulder.
Shit.
He used to be so much stronger. How else could he still let you go for a mission that’s brought him nothing but ghosts?
“Excuse me.” The words pull out of his mouth as soon as he feels someone collide with his arm. Something falls and his hand shoots out to catch it before it can crash to the ground, his other hand grasping onto their bicep. Paper crunches and he straightens up, immediately finding who he bumped into. Purple hat shrouding a ducked head, she doesn’t look at him, frozen in space. You, he thinks dazedly. You again. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going,” he continues quietly. “Are you alright?”
A short nod, and then she breaks off, clamping a hand over a plum sleeve where a white armband rests, taking off past him, back deeper into the interment zone. Reiner glances down at his fist, at the paper still clutched tight in his own fist, and his head shoots back up to search for the figure.
Gone. Shit. How did they even disappear so quickly? The road behind him stretches for a distance that would take more than two damn seconds to cross.
Fitting a palm to his brow, Reiner’s expression tightens as he looks down at the paper and he sighs, whipping it open to the sight of their so-called victory.
He’s seeing things. He’s… he’s just tired, and tormented. That’s all. Even the letters of the paper look a bit strange to his straining eyes, and he sighs, lifting his head again to look at the empty road behind him.
.
“This is really crunchy,” you mumble. Krista smiles, pleased. Swinging the axe you’d been using to chop wood into the stump, you swallow and set a hand on her blonde head, rubbing it fondly before taking another bite. “Where’d you get this? We haven’t gone to town this week.”
“Bertholdt, Connie, Sasha and Armin went to go pick some fruits surrounding headquarters while Eren trains. I thought I’d bring some back for you gys.”
“That’s nice.” You grin, taking another bite and letting out a noise of surprise when juice dribbles down your wrist. Good thing your sleeves are rolled up. “You should take one to Captain Levi. I think apples are his favourite.”
“How do you know that?”
“Who doesn’t like apples?”
Krista shrugs as another shape lumbers over to you.
“What’s going on over here?”
“Reiner, catch.” You grab an apple from Krista’s basket and fling it at the guy who catches it easily with a grin. Taking a bite, his eyebrows rise and you laugh as a delighted expression spreads over his face. “Good, right?”
He nods. His whole body is coated in a fine layer of sweat, the evidence of his labour staining the front of his shirt as he stops next to you. Your heart stutters at the heat radiating off his skin as he looks at Krista. His shoulders rise and fall with his breath, and you swallow to yourself, taking another bite of your apple so you have an excuse to keep your mouth shut.
“You should bring some to Eren and the others,” he suggests. “They’ve been working hard.”
“I will.” Smiling charmingly, the blonde girl adds that there’ll be some left in the mess hall later and waves, departing. You watch her go with another crunch of your apple and you let out a small sound when golden juice dribbles down your wrist. Without thinking, you lift your arm to your mouth, sucking the trail off before it can continue down to your elbow. Something burns into your cheek, and you turn your head.
Catching Reiner staring at you, a mortified feeling strikes through you and you let out a choked sound, dropping your hand. Averting your eyes, you stammer, “Sorry. Habit. Not used to people watching me eat. Mostly ate during work hours back home, so…”
His lips pull into a flustered smile. “N-No. That’s fine. You worked on a farm, right?”
“Yeah. With other orphan kids.” It was so lonely. You look up at him bashfully and he rubs the back of his neck with a hand as he bites into his apple. Unable to help the pleased tone seeping into your voice, you say, “You remembered.”
“Of course I did. You mentioned it,” he replies, waving it away, looking away. His face is red, and you squint against the sun. “You said there was an older kid there. Talked about the stars.”
“Yeah. Yeah, she was like family. Until I joined the corps and met you, Bertholdt, and Annie, that is. You guys just… I dunno.” You rub your elbow, smiling at him. “Times like these make me miss Annie. She’s a better friend than everyone gives her credit for, y’know? We always said when the time came we would work together in the MPs.”
“Uh-huh.” Reiner looks away, eyebrows furrowed together. “It’s getting hot.”
“Yeah.” Your brow crinkles but you let his diversion slide. “We should take a break.” You gesture to the shade nearby and he takes the lead, heading over to collapse against a tree. You rotate the apple between your fingers, you take another bite, nose wrinkling as a wind sweeps against your face.
They continue to eat in silence, not much to be sad. Your heart begins to slow, even as Reiner shifts closer, one of his knees bent, the other crooked flat on the cool grass. Smiling to yourself, you just watch the sun touch everything you can see, and in times like this, of absolute nothingness, you can finally remember how beautiful the world is.
The sky is blue enough to drown in, the clouds are infinitely fluffy, and the grass gleams white underneath the heat. Even if you’re sweating your skin off, the wind is cold like a kiss, and you feel a delighted shiver course through you.
“It’s so beautiful,” you sigh. “The world. I wish we could see more of it, but what we have here… I think I take it for granted. How truly perfect it all is.”
“Yeah.” His voice rasps against your ear and you inhale the summer wind deeply once again, feeling it fill up your entire chest. “I think I do, too.”
Looking at Reiner, your lips part in a response before rough fingers cradle your chin and tug you forward. Apple core falling to the ground, your arms crumple against a strong body and you barely resist holding him with your sticky hands as a mouth presses against yours. Body melting against his own, your stomach flutters and you let out a soft moan as his hand travelled along your chin to cup your face, thumb stroking your cheek. His other hand rests on your knee and your eyes slide close as a tongue traces the seam of your lips, dips in tentatively. Arm wrapping around his neck, you pull him in deeper by the crook of your elbow and sigh into his mouth.
The soft warmth floods your entire body, cools you down somehow, and you swear you can’t feel the ground beneath your legs. Hours seem to pass—the gust caresses your sweaty skin, the leaves seem to chime.
It’s idyllic.
It’s perfect.
It’s only a few beats more before he draws back sweetly, hand falling away from your face and he searches your expression.
“You, uh, missed a spot,” he whispers hoarsely, clearing his throat and drawing back. Smiling dopily to yourself, you wipe at your mouth with the back of your hand but not even that can erase the tingling sensation spreading through your face. Looking into your lap, you chew on your bottom lip, trying to prevent the ginormous smile from spreading while he leans back against the tree, looking out into the distance.
“Hey!” Heads jerking up, the two Scouts spot Ymir glaring at them by the entrance to the headquarters. “Didn’t know some of us were having a day off!”
Mikasa carries a near-passed out Eren into the building while Section Commander Hange and Section Commander Miche wave them, gesturing for them to come back in. You sit up straighter and Reiner lets out a displeased grunt as you tear up some grass by your leg.
“Get that wood and get back in here,” Miche calls. “That’s more than enough for the week.” You find yourself nodding as Reiner pushes himself to his feet and you look up as he walks back into the sun. Their superiors head in, but Ymir lingers, watching them, and you stare back until she seems to let go of her crossed arms, shake her head, and turn back inside.
You blink. Scrambling after Reiner, you catch up with him and wait to see if he’ll see anything. When he only steps towards your pile of firewood and slings the frame to hold bundles of firewood in onto his back, your hand shoots out before you can stop yourself.
He stiffens at your touch.
“Shouldn’t we talk about what just happened?” you ask quietly, a swirling sensation swimming in your chest. Confusion tinted everything as Reiner pauses, glancing at you out of the corner of your eye. “We… kissed just now.”
He ducks his head, lips curling back in a grimace. “Yeah. We did.”
Pangs hitting your chest, you take a step away from him as he bends down to collect the firewood. The sun’s already beating down on the back of your neck as you glance at the pile of wood. “Do you not like me?”
“What?” He freezes mid-way through grabbing another bundle and you busy yourself with slinging your own carrier onto your back. Your body is burning, and it’s not because of the sun.
“I like you, Reiner, but… if you don’t like me, then I’m okay with pretending that never happened.”
“Of course I like you. You’re a great friend and soldier and—”
You shoot him a furtive look before putting it bluntly: “I like you in the way that I want you to kiss me like that all the time.”
The silence that follows will haunt you for the rest of your life. Your heart pounds in your skull, echoing like the sound of death drums before his shoulders slouch forward and he sighs heavily. You stand upright, head tilting and he grabs the back of your neck and pulls you towards him.
This time, it’s almost devouring the way he kisses you—messy, and warm, and his thumb brushes the underside of his jaw as you bend into his chest, your hands fisted, twisting his shirt at his waist tightly and you barely hear the words he murmurs into your mouth over the pounding of your heart.
“You’re so pretty—“
Panting, he kisses you again and again as you crumple in his arms and you can’t help the stupid smile on your face as you kiss him back, quick punches that last an eternity until they rip themselves off each other. More, Reiner stumbles back, and you tear yourself off of him, just so they remember how to breathe.
Your lungs scrambling for air, your fingers press against your mouth as your gaze falls to the firewood, and Reiner’s heavy breathing can be heard just a few feet away as he falls to his hands and knees. Watching him, your heart cracks into pieces, and there’s a sinking sensation in your stomach.
Reality slams into you like a fucking horse.
“We shouldn’t,” he whispers hoarsely, fingers digging into the dirt. Your eyes wrench to him and he looks up at you harrowingly. “We’re soldiers. We shouldn’t. We could die tomorrow, next week on that expedition even, and this would be for nothing.”
Falling to your knees, you glance down at the dirt. “I like you.”
“You shouldn’t.”
You clench your jaw. Your gut cramps as you stare blankly at the grass. “So… what now?” you ask, chest lurching. “I don’t want to lose you.”
“I know. I just…” A harsh swallow. Your breath burns in your chest. A strange pain stitches into your ribs. “We should stay friends.” Everything inside you drains, and you nod, eyes not rising. Your lips still tingle with the sensation of his mouth against your own, and you swallow the hard knot in your throat, but it only lands like a boulder in your stomach. “It’ll hurt less.”
I don’t think it will, you want to argue. I’ll still want you just as much as I do now.
But you don’t say any of that aloud.
Instead, you try to make it sound joking as you murmur, “You’re the worst.” You flash him a quick smile that you hope dulls the edge of your words, but he merely looks at you numbly.
For a moment, Reiner’s hard frown slips into something more fragile, and he turns away with a hard swallow, whispering out a soft, “I know,” as he gets to his feet and gathers the rest of the firewood. Once his load is on his back, he half-turns to you and he looks at your hands rather than your face. “I’ll see you at the meeting.”
You wait until you can’t hear his soft footsteps cushioned by the grass until you pull yourself together. Lifting your face to the sun, wind chases away the heat clouding your cheeks, and soothes the swollen skin around your eyes.
Grabbing the wood, you rub at your face with the back of your hand and when you get back inside, Connie doesn’t seem to notice anything wrong.
.
Reiner pays the vendor and looks at his cousin, smiling uneasily as she bites into the sandwich. He wouldn’t have much more for the day if they kept going at the pace they’re going, and although he doesn’t mind (not that he could say no) a part of him just wishes he could go home. But Mom had insisted so Gabi could have some supervision and that he needed to get out, she wasn’t getting any younger and he’s so glum!
“You need to find a nice girl, Reiner.”
He doesn’t know what about his appearance when his mom walked into his bedroom screamed romance, but apparently it was what she read between a soaked shirt and wide eyes and pale skin.
He’d woken up in a cold sweat, as he does most days, but this time it’d been haunting.
Because it wasn’t flashes of blood, screams, the glint of metal underneath the grey sun. There was no yellow lightning, no deafening crashes.
It was almost like it wasn’t a dream. Trost had been so real, alive around them as you paid for the honeycomb and as you snuck a bite while you thought he wasn’t looking, he remembered…
The way his heart fluttered, the way he couldn’t stop looking you. There was not a moment he remembers your hand was far from his, when their elbows did not brush, when they left each other for a moment. When did he ever stop thinking about your hands, your laugh, the way you could send him into a flurry thinking what every other word you said meant?
“Reiner? You coming?”
Blinking, he looks over his shoulder to see the others already moving on. Pieck lingers near the back of the group, tilting her head at him and he clears his throat, pocketing his wallet and walking towards her.
He never meant for this. You were never meant to be more important than him than breathing. How does he carve away the prints you’ve left on his lips and eyes? Does he even want to? It’s hard to decide.
Sometimes, he wants to scratch you out of his brain just so you can stop laughing at him. Other times, he wishes he could dig inside his skull and put the memories together in a collage the shape of you just so he has someone to talk to.
“This is so good!” Gabi cries out as Porco sets a hand on her head and Reiner suppresses the smallest smile teasing at his mouth, but it feels tired, and he lets the urge melt away easily. Walking after them slowly, he watches the festival around them, so loud with clowns and buskers and people just talking to one another that it makes his head pound.
His legs feel like they’re about to give up, and his head is heavy as he trails after them.
“Eat slower,” Pieck censures as they migrate through a thicker crowd, “or you’ll get a stomach ache.”
“They might get a stomach ache either way,” Galliard teases. “Do you see how the slobs are eating?” Walking against the tide, Reiner makes sure he doesn’t knock anyone over going too fast in the opposite direction. The energy would be electric if he didn’t feel so bone-tired. Sun warming his face, Reiner lifts his chin to the sky just as the sound of someone’s voice teases his ear range and his head snaps to the sound, eyes widening.
Stopping in his tracks, he searches for the source and his eyes fixate on the same woman in the purple coat. His mouth opens on its own accord and his eyebrows furrow together as she pays the vendor. He tracks her figure with a quick sweep before turning away to make sure he isn’t trailing too far behind the others.
When he glances back, she’s gone.
Fucking ghost.
He shivers, catching up with the group.
“You’ve got something on your mind,” Pieck observes as he empties out his wallet for the last food stall of the afternoon. They’d just finished their slices of something the man had called pizza, and Gabi had insisted on dessert to finish the day. Explains why he’s standing in front of a portly woman who insists on the kids picking which tart they want.
“It’s fine, Pieck,” he assures, closing his wallet and slipping it back into his pocket, significantly lighter than this morning as Falco grabs a pastry glazed with honey and Reiner’s heart seizes in his chest at the golden sugar glistening in the warm sunlight. “They’re growing kids.”
“I don’t think it’s your wallet that’s the problem,” she says. Galliard grabs a tart with flecks of rose petals within the filling and glances over at the two and Reiner arches an eyebrow at the strangled expression on the guy’s face.
Weird, he muses to himself when Porco grabs another tart and begins to walk over to them.
“You seem a bit lost. Did something happen earlier?” Pieck probes. Reiner sighs, crossing his arms, watching the Candidates switch tarts so they can try all the flavours. It’s so effortlessly… innocent, in a sense, in that gesture. Shit, when’s the last time he ever felt like that?
Gold dripping down your wrist… “I can see you eating the honeycomb, you know?”
God, did he want to kiss you then.
“Nothing happened.”
Pieck frowns, but doesn’t argue it further as Porco finally reaches them.
“Which one do you want, Pieck?” he asks, not waiting for an answer before shoving the rose tart into Pieck’s hands. She smiles fondly, reaching forward to flick Porco’s forehead. Reiner rolls his eyes. “The lady said it’s a popular flavour with… the ladies.”
“Thank you, Pock.” She takes a big bite, the sugar glistening her lips and Reiner’s watching Porco’s face which only opens at the pure delight on their pretty little colleague. Mouth snapping shut, Galliard looks away as if that’ll help the faint redness of his ears, and Reiner shakes his head. He chews on his cheek to prevent the soft smirk edging onto his face before he claps Pieck on the shoulder and heads towards the kids.
Behind him, he hears a laugh that could only be Pieck’s followed by grumbling and harsh hushing that could only be Galliard’s.
When he glances over his shoulder, he swears he must’ve imagined Porco kissing the corner of Pieck’s mouth, sugary syrup on his lips, too.

I really don't know if requests are open so I'm sorry if I didn't noticed they're closed 💔 However if they are open could you please write Nagito with female s/o that lost bet to Hiyoko and running around island in maid dress?
ミ☆ Sorry this took me so long! Also it got very nasty and i hope that is okay lol. I can’t help myself when it comes to Nagito. Word count: 2024 Contains: NSFW, fem reader, they/them pronouns, explict sexual content, voyeurism ミ☆ Please send me a DM or an ask if you’d like me to write something for you!
This is humiliating.
The Jabberwock island sun is burning down hot as always, you can feel the skin of your bare arms already starting to burn and your legs are getting sweaty under the thick thigh high socks. This outfit was not designed for this weather, but clearly Hiyoko Saionji cared very little about that fact.
She is walking beside you, snickering behind a hand. The six inch heels she has forced you into makes her seem even shorter than usual.
You sigh, “How much longer?”
“I told you! One whole lap of the islands!” She taps a finger to her chin, feigning thoughtfulness, “We’re about...halfway done.”
You huff and cross your arms. You don't usually wear heels, your feet are already starting to ache, and the unpaved path on central island makes it even harder for you to walk, “Can I at least take the shoes off?”
Saionji scoffs, “Uh, obviously not. The heels are essential. You think i'm just gonna let you run around in sneakers? What would even be the fucking point?”
“Yeah, yeah, Okay. I get it.”
To be fair, this was all your fault. After waking up from the Neo World Program, you and the rest of your classmates found that the island was a mess and had spent the past few months slowly making it livable. It must have been rotten luck that got you paired with Saionji to clean out the back room in the diner on the second island. Apparently the waitresses who worked there before the island was abandoned used to wear sexy maid costumes, and there happened to be one in your size. Saionji had said something about a bet, that if you were game enough to walk around in the maid costume, she would take on your cleaning duties for the next three days. It was a bad idea, you really should have said no.
There's a gust of wind and your short skirt flutters around your thighs. You clench your jaw and try your best to keep your panties from showing. Saionji laughs again.
“Remember when we bumped into Hanamura earlier and he said that he thought you looked-”
“Shut up, Saionji.” You hiss, walking a little faster as you cross the bridge over to the first island, “Withstanding your ridicule was not part of the deal.”
“Yeah, but it wasn't not not part of the deal.” She sticks her tongue out.
The heels are so loud on the wooden slats of the bridge, and it takes a decent amount of effort to stop yourself from getting stuck in one of the gaps and tripping. You can tell Saionji thinks it is very funny how hard you need to focus on your own feet.
“Okay.” She says as you step out onto the island, “One loop here, and then back to the second island. You might actually manage it if you dont trip and break a leg on the way back,”
You shoot her a glare, “Was that a threat?”
She shrugs, “Just saying you should watch where you walk” She playfully taps your shin with the side of her foot, you manage not to stumble, but it was still a dirty move.
Before you are able to call her out for her nasty trick, Saionji laughs again and nods her head in the direction of the cabins. You’ve just made your way in through the front gate, and are about to head down to the restaurant, “Look who was lucky enough to leave his cottage right as were walking past.”
Saionji’s intonation on the word lucky makes your stomach twist and turn. You’re too afraid to follow her line of sight, swallowing nervously and looking down at the ground, “Hey, uh, i think I’m calling it here. You win.”
You move to walk away, buy Saionji grabs you by the wrist, “What are you chickening out for? I didn't realise you were such a loser.”
“Saionji” You warn, glaring down at her, “You better let me go or else i will-”
“Ah, hello!” Komaeda interrupts. You freeze, heart racing at the sound of his voice. This is literally the worst thing that could have possibly happened. Your cheeks are burning “How lucky it is that I get to see the both of...ah…” His voice slowly trails off as he notices what you are wearing. It's with a newfound desperation that you struggle to escape Saionji’s grip, but she holds fast.
“Hey, Weirdo.” Saionji jeers, her hand still tight around your wrist, “Do you like this cute outfit I found?”
“Oh...I...uh…”
You let your eyes slip up to his face. Komaeda has his hair up in a ponytail and his cheeks are burning red as he stares down at the length of bare thigh peeking out from the top of your stockings. You can hear the sound of your heart beating in your ears.
You like Komaeda. As in, you really like Komaeda.
Seeing him getting all flustered is doing strange things to your stomach, but you are still frozen with embarrassment.
“I think he likes it~” Saionji taunts, smirking up at you.
His eyes are combing over you, his lower lip pulled in between his teeth. There's warmth between your thighs, your fingernails are digging into your palms. You barely even notice as you start getting bolder, gently brushing the hemline of your skirt with your hand, tugging it a little further up your thigh. Komaeda’s throat bobs.
“Did...did Saionji make you do this?” He asks.
You nod, still feeling too overwhelmed to actually say anything. He must see the way you are looking at him, the way his blush runs all the way down to his collarbones, the way you want desperately to see more of his skin. His eyes meet yours questioning, but hungry.
“You look…” he heaves a shaky breath, eyes quickly flitting over to Saionji like he is trying to remind himself that she is still there, “...good.”
You grip onto the fabric of your skirt to stop your hands from shaking, “Thank you. Um-” you look down at your toes for a moment, “Hanamura got kind of weird about it, but i'm uh…” you look back up at Komaeda, his eyes are perfect and green, “I’m glad that you like it…”
He’s just staring at you now, and you hope that he understands the meaning of your words. That maybe this whole embarrassing ordeal is worth it if he finds you attractive. You want him so badly, you want him to want you so badly. The way his eyes roam over your body makes you quiver with something. Nerves? Excitement?
“What the fuck is happening right now?”
You and Komaeda are suddenly pulled from a trance and forced to look back down at Saionji. She’s staring up at you with a mix of horror and confusion.
You feel a bolt of arousal shoot down to your center when Komaeda turns to her and says, “Would you mind leaving us alone, Saionji-san?”
Saionji blinks, “Huh? We’ve still got to walk all the way back to the second island or they lose the bet! I'm not going anywhere in case she cheats!”
“Bet’s off.” You say, pulling your wrist from her grasp and taking a step closer to Komaeda. God, even with the heels on he is still taller than you, “You should really go.”
Saionji barks a laugh, “Fine, but you better not complain when you have cleaning duty all next week.”
He is very subtle about it, but you feel the cool touch of Komaeda’s fingers on your bare thigh, he stares at Saionji over your shoulder and is much less polite when he says, “Saionji, leave.”
You don't turn around, but you hear the sound of sandals clattering on wood as she dashes out of the hotel area. The second she is out of view, Komaeda grabs you by the shoulders and pins you up against the wall of the closet cottage (Souda’s? It really doesn't matter) breathing so heavily that you can see his shoulders shaking.
“I’m...I’m so sorry...I” He back pedals, letting his arms fall to the sides, “I don't know what came over me, I'm such garbage i-”
Fuck it, you think. Grabbing the front of his coat and tugging his lips up against yours. It takes him a moment to recognise what is even happening, but the second he does, his large hands grab tight on either side of your waist and he kisses you back in a fervor. You can feel him moan against your lips, and it’s too much for you. So you spin him around until he is the one with his back up against the wall, jamming your knee in between his legs and shoving one hand up under his shirt. His skin is smooth, you can feel his ribs under your fingers. He whimpers under your lips when your tongue enters his mouth, tangling with his, and one of his hands creeps down to the short hemline of your skirt, slipping his fingers up underneath. You hear him choke on a moan when he finds that your stockings are being held up by a garter-belt.
“You’re killing me.” He hisses against your mouth.
You lift up the knee between his legs and grind it against his crotch. He makes the cutest little noise, hips wriggling against the pressure of your knee until he is basically fucking himself on it. You moan at the sight of him, cheeks red, hair mussed, writhing against you desperately.
“That’s a good boy.” You whisper in his ear, pressing a kiss to the side of his throat, “Does that feel nice?”
“Hng-I….I…” he throws his head backward until it collides with the wall, “What about..ahhAH...what about you?”
Watching him like this is getting you wet enough as it is, you smirk and suck gently on his pulse point, “What about me? I want to watch you cum, sweetheart. That’s what i want.”
His green eyes are blown wide when they meet yours, he swallows, “Out….outside?”
“Yeah, baby.” You press your knee up even harder and relish in the choked sound he makes, “Right here.”
You aren't sure what it is about the maid costume that gives you this confidence, but you feel powerful. Watching Komaeda moan and drool as he grinds furiously against your stocking-clad knee is only making you feel sexier.
The hand you have under his shirt sneaks upward even further, he squeaks when you rub one of his nipples between your thumb and forefinger, “You think you can cum for me, sweetheart?”
He nods furiously, hips quivering as you continue biting and sucking your way down his throat and over his shoulder. You can feel him growing more desperate, you can feel his pressing his throbbing cock harder and harder against the unyielding pressure of your knee. His mouth is hung open, drool is dripping down his chin and he is flushed all the way down to his chest. You moan just from the mere sight of him, your sex clenching with desire, but that would have to wait. You wanted to watch him come undone.
“I…I’m” he whines, writhing and panting against you, “I’m so close…”
“You’re going to cum?”
Komaeda makes a noise of affirmation, but it mostly just sounds like a moan. You grin and push your knee up even higher, leaning in to lick up the shell of his ear.
“Go on, then.” You whisper, “Cum for me, pretty boy,”
A moan rips through him. So loud that anyone nearby must have heard it. His hips quiver and shake against you, grinding and wriggling and then finally coming to a stop. He looks godlike, his hair fucked five ways to hell and his eyes glazed over with arousal. A shaky giggle escapes his mouth, and then he licks his lips.
“Okay. Your turn”
You don't resist when he grabs you by the hand and pulls you to his cottage. Maybe Saionji actually helped you out for once, even if she didn't mean it.

Live my Life Ch.1
Kuroo x fem reader
Summary: sometimes life is full of making the wrong choices and not knowing till it’s to late.
A/N: this is chapter one of my new story. I’m still writing the Home series I must really wanted to start this story as well. I hope you guys like this one.
Warning: Angst, Smut, Drunk Sex, Underage drinking, toxic behavior
You found yourself sitting in this dingy bar nursing a drink you weren’t supposed to have. This had become part of your routine. It all started about three weeks ago. Your friend Kana, or well you suppose she could be called a friend she was more of a friend of a friend. She seemed nice enough kind of the free spirit type of girl always into the new big trend, not really what you would describe yourself as, more of what you wanted to be. You weren’t exactly some shy shut in but still your anxieties held you back from charging head first into in life and taking the bull by the horns. That’s why you surprised even yourself when you offered to be Kana’s bar buddy.
Kana is bartender at this whole in the wall bar with dim lighting. It got fairly good business but not enough to warrant more than one bartender at a time. That being the case Kana would often be there by herself well late into the night, the neighborhood wasn’t horrible but it still was unsettling sometimes. So as her bar buddy you would come at some point in her shift and find a free seat at the bar hopefully far enough distance from any other patrons. You’d order some fries or whatever greasy snack food you craved and waited there with her while she worked until she was ready to lock up. It was pretty easy you’d just sit there offering her someone to talk when she was bored or when she need to escape some overbearing customers. She’d make her way over too you and pretend to make you a drink. Although she offered you a drink you usually turn her down for the clear fact that you were underage when it came to drinking. It was perfectly fine for you to sit in the establishment since it also served food but at the age of 18 drinking was still prohibited. Being the laid back girl and bartender she was Kana didn’t care about bending that rule for a friend.
Most nights you’d pull out some school work on your tablet that your carried with you or just read some stories on your phone. Usually trying your best to avoid conversation with the regulars. That didn’t work as well as you hoped and soon enough you were quickly learning all of the local gossip and being included in the group known as the regulars. Which is what you were since you found yourself here four nights out of you week. You didn’t mind spending so much of your time here with Kana it was kind of nice to stray from your comfort zone plus you and Kana were steadily getting closer as friends too. Everything was smooth sailing until you met him.
It was a usual Thursday night you got dressed in your causal but sleek outfit. Wearing a comfortable pair of Jeans that hugged your body nicely not too tight but still showed your curves. You paired it with a black blouse and black ankle boots. You freshened up your make up of the day not needing to try to hard seeing as you weren’t going there to impress anyone. In fact you preferred to not draw any attention. Your brushed through your hair finally heading out of your home and too the dingy bar. Things seemed a little off tonight some felt different but still you took your usual seat as you scanned the bar. It was fairly empty only two other customers sitting all the way at the other end of the counter. Kana wasn’t anywhere to be found, she’s probably just grabbing something back you reasoned. And sure enough you could hear a clang in the back of the establishment that was hidden from the public eye. Although it wasn’t Kana that popped around the corner. Instead stood a tall and extremely handsome guy. He was wild black hair that was strewn in a chaotic fashion but it suited him. You could tell by his physique that he was fit , not too overly muscular but when he reached up to put the box he was carrying on the top shelf you could see a peak of a very well defined v line on his tanned skin. This man was the definition of tall, dark ,and handsome. And that wasn’t even mentioning his intense honey eyes that felt like they pierced your soul with just one look. He wore a black pair of fitted jeans and a red button up with strange print on it. You could inspect the odd design more intensely as he approached you with a smirk plastered on his face. Ah they were little black cats that littered his print. The style screamed I’m stylish but quirky.
“Well hello there sweetheart how can I help you?” You could tell he was using his customer service persona. Ah he goes for the smooth talkng flirt, he probably does very well with middle aged woman, you think.
“Um yeah,” you state giving the room one more look “ do you know where Kana is?” You questioned.
His perked at the mention of your friend. You could see him relax a little as he released some tension rolling his shoulders back. “Ahh you must be YN,” he smiled placing his hands on the bar leaning forward. His voice was a notch higher no longer Using his deep Casanova tone, this one was more natural. You eyes widened at the sound of your name leaving his lips.
“Yeah,” you replied hesitant.
“I’m Kuroo Tetsurou,” he presented his hand offering a firm shake to which you awkwardly accepted. “I’m guessing Kana forgot to inform you that id becoming back to work my usual Thursday shift today did she?” He let out a small chuckle.
Damn it Kana you cursed inside your mind. You could have been cozy in bed right now. “Ha nope she did not,” you let out a sigh. “I didn’t realize she was just covering these last few weeks” you respond.
“She just had my Thursday shift Mondays and Wednesdays are still her regular days.” He grinned “she was nice enough to take my shift while I was out with some family stuff.”
“Ahh I see, well I’ll should probably get out of your hair,” you stated starting to slide off the stool.
“Hey wait you came all the way out here let me get you a drink,” he offered.
You froze in your seat for a moment kind of embarrassed. You felt heat creep to your face as you respond “ oh umm I’m not actually old enough I’m only 18,” your eye locked on the surface in front of you.
He let out a chuckle “let me see your ID.”
Your face scrunched in confusion “but-” you start but he cuts you off.
“Shh just hand it over,” he smiles. You raise your eyebrow as you reach into your handbag fishing out your ID and handing it over. He backs upmholding it as though it was valid. “Well look at that! Sure enough you’re 20,” he gives a cheeky smile “so what can I get you to drink?”
You take back your card placing it back safely in your bag a look of shock present on your youthful features. You lean forward whispering “won’t you get in trouble!” Not wanting to have someone risk their job. He lets out a haughty laugh. “My dads the owner so I’m not too worried.” He stated cockily. “So again what are you drinking sweetheart?” Again he flashed that stupid smirk that sent your stomach doing flips.
After two drinks and some idle chit chat in his free time you decided it probably be best if you headed out. He was quick to stop you. “Ahh come on dont leave so soon I was hoping you’d be my bar buddy too,” he pouted. You rolled your eyes at his teasing. It was enough to keep you there though ordering another drink to nurse. It felt nice chatting and casually flirting with this attractive stranger.
This too became part of your routine. You still went to the bar during Kana’s shift to keep her company but you kept going on Thursday and spending you night talking to Kuroo. The both of you spending most of the night getting to know each other. It was just surface things like school, you found out he was two years older than you going to a university near by studying chemical engineering, and your taste in music which was something you had a lot in common. The conversation focused mainly on you. He always directed the flow of the conversation he was so out going and smooth, always asking questions about your day liked hearing about your day as if being a 3rd year in high school was the most exciting thing. You’d sit there for hours with him trying new drinks sometimes finding yourself leaving the bar at three am as if you didn’t have class in four hours. But you didn’t care it was exhilarating this was the most rebellious thing you had ever done. The flirting was harmless never going to far. And although you wouldn’t admit you were getting a crush on the raven haired bartender.
It was just another Wednesday night but today something inside of you told you to dress up more than you’d usually go for. Tonight you wore a simple black dress with a deep neckline that really showed your figure without being to flashy. Your period had recently finished so knowing you were securely dried up you decided to go for a pair of your fancy red lace panties and a matching bra that always boosted your confidence. Not that anyone would be seeing them. You checked yourself one last time before heading out to the bar and damn did you look hot.
When you entered the bar you were surprised to it was rather busy with customers all over the place, luckily you find a seat at the bar. You noticed that Kenma was also behind the bar. Kenma was the other bartender that worked the shifts opposite of Kana and Kuroo. He was also Kuroo’s best friend. You’ve only met him a couple times when he’d come to the bar to see Kuroo while he was on shift. It must be really busy if they called him in to work the bar with Kana.
Kana gave a sigh of relief and smiled as she saw you sitting at the bar. “Oh my god girl hey,” smiled “do you see how hectic it is?” She laughed. She took a moment to fully look you over her eyes wide.
“Damn girl you look fucking hot!” You felt some pride grow in you hearing your friend complement you. She always looked amazing so hearing that she thought you looked great felt like high praise.
“You want a drink babe?” She asked although it was more a of statement as she was already whipping together a drink before you were finished nodding. She handed you a strong yet sweet drink before she was whisked away by some needy patrons.
You sipped on your drink watching Kana handle the crowd. You and Kenmas eyes would lock every now and then but it’s very short and awkward. You don’t know him very well. Part of your anxieties had you convinced he didn’t like you. But you tried not to read into it to much. Kuroo had told you once that it was just that he wasn’t much of a people person only working at the bar as a favor to Kuroo and his father. You sit there silently observing the world around you not noticing someone taking the seat next to you.
“Boo,” a husky voiced whispered into your ear sending shivers down your spine. Kuroo cackled as you jumped turning around clutching your chest.
“What the hell Kuroo!” You gasped trying to steady your breathing. “They call you in too?” You ask referring to the booming business you sat in.
“Nah it’s my day off and I wanted to come have a drink and bug Kenma,” he rose his hand singling said man for a drink. “But looks like I lucked out now I get to bother you all night,” he smirked.
“Oh really and who said I want to have you around I deal with you enough on Thursdays,” you smiled back with a sly look.
He feigned a look of hurt. “Ouch YN you wound me, I thought we were friends,” giving you look that definitely didn’t come off as just friendly. You just roll your eyes trying to hide your intrigue. “Well it seems I need to prove my friendship to you let me by you a drink.” He rested his hand on yours as he signaled for a refill on your drink.
You should have seen it coming but you acted surprised when after several drinks and a couple rounds of shots you found yourself in the back seat of his car. Your red panties tossed to the side somewhere in the vehicle. You were laying back as he dove under the hem your dress. Kuroo looked up to your face his lips barley an inch away from your heat. He had a devious look on his face as he watched your face flush with need. Your lips were swollen from the heated make out sessions you had outside the bar. He quirked his eyebrow teasingly his heavy breath tickling you. He was waiting. It was almost tortuous but you knew what he wanted.
You pouted your chest rising and falling from your hard breathing. “Please!” You begged. He smiled content with hearing your pleas before diving into you his tongue lapping at your wet folds. Your head fell back in pleasure as he ate you out like a man starved. Your moans filled the car as he worked his skilled tongue in and out of you. He could feel how close you were as he felt you clench around his fingers as he worked you loose. Relief flooded your body as you came on his face. Lust still flooding you as you watched him lick up all your juices. He moved up your body sealing your lips into a searing kiss you could taste your essence on his lips.
Your hands reached down his body grabbing at his bulge. He let out a groan in your ear before picking you up and placing you on his lap. He attacked you neck nippping and sucking harsh purple marks into your skin. He pulled the collar of your dress down pulling your breast out . Moving your bra down he latched his lips around your swollen nipple rolling it between his teeth. You let out a pained moan as you rolled you hips into his lap. He finally hit limit. He lifted you up as he pulled his pants and boxers down before lining his achingly hard length with your wet cunt before pulling you down on it. Both of your groans filled the space as you felt him fill you whole. You hid your face in his neck as you panted while he let you adjust to the intrusion. You could feel his hands roaming your ass pushing the skirt of your dress up. A sudden smack came to your ass. You let out a hiss. He rubbed the mark he left on your soft skin.
“Go ahead sweetheart ride my cock,” he demanded. His dirty words sent shivers over body. You did just as he said starting to move your hips up and down rotating on his dick as it reached deep inside of you. Your body was already on edge from your earlier release so it took no time to have you clenching tightly around him you next orgasm fastly approaching.
“Fuck you’re so god damn tight,” he groaned. Lust took over as he grabbed your hips holding you still as he drilled up into your pliant body. Your moans egged him on as he chased both of your climaxes. He loved the feeling of your pussy clamping down on him. Feeling you milk his cock drained him of his will and of his semen as he came deep into you.
You both sat there for a moment both coming down from your highs. Bodies worn from the intense session you had just had. He groaned throughing his head back, “fuck I didn’t wear a condom,” he cursed.
“I’m on birth control” you breathed moving off his lap. You searched for your panties sliding them on quickly trying to contain the mess between your legs.
“Good, that’s good,” he breathed a sigh of relief he looked around both of you. It seemed no one notice dyour little drunken romp in the parking lot. There was a slight awkward pause neither knowing what to say.
“Well that was great,” he offered, “uhh do you need a ride home?” He questioned.
You shook your head, “no I’ll just grab a quick Uber home,” you respond pulling your phone out to do just that.
He nodded seeming to like that idea not wanting you to walk home. “I’ll probably head back in and sober up a little before heading home. I definitely can’t drive right now. I’m not even sure my legs will get me back inside,” he laughed. You giggled as well. A chime rang from your phone, your ride would be pulling up soon.
“Hey give me your number and message me when you get phone safe.” He said taking the phone to send a message to himself successfully trading numbers. He gave you one more deep kiss before you left to catch your Uber.
That night your body passed out exhausted. You knew you were going to regret drinking so much tomorrow morning when you have to wake up for class.
And damn was your body sore. Your head was ponding from all the alcohol and the rest was sore from the wild sex you had. Still you woke up bright and early making sure to shower off any evidence from your delinquent activities. You made sure to take some Advil before leaving for school opting to skip breakfast since your stomach was still unstable from the liquor. Your morning classes were relatively easy not but extremely boring. You found yourself daydreaming through most of your history class thinking back to your night with Kuroo. Little fantasys of dates, and more long talks at the bar, even some naughty ideas popped into your head. It was almost like you willed him into existence because not two seconds later your phone vibrated. Your heart skipped a beat seeing his name pop up in your notifications. You laughed at the way he saved his number last night. Oh my god he texted me you thought you were so giddy. That was until you read the messages.
Kuroo 🥵: Hey YN.
Kuroo 🥵: Last night was a Mistake. Look I have a girlfriend and I love her so I think it’s best we pretend last night never happened. Sorry.
Ouch. That hurt.

Hiii~ sorry to bother you, i dont know if you're still taking request but can you write something where the reader had to turn down a job she really wanted and member (joon, hoseok or yoongi) comforts her? Ps you're my fav blog please keep writing💕
Hi! You’re not bothering at all~ Thank you so much for the request, and the feedback! You’re so, so sweet! It really means a lot. Here’s my take on the scenario, I hope you enjoy!! 💜💕
“Whatever You Want” Namjoon x You
“Okay.” You release a deep breath and turn to face Namjoon. “How do I look?” He sits up a little, pretending to scrutinize your appearance before the grin breaks across his face. “Perfect,” he says. Then, suddenly frowning, he scoots to the edge of the bed and adds, “Except...come here, babe.” “What?” you ask nervously, reaching up to smooth your hair. “What is it?” You move towards him when he doesn’t answer. “Just...” He waits until you’re within his reach, then grabs you by the waist and pulls you into his lap. Smiling at your startled laughter, he says, “Just this...” before leaning in to kiss you softly. When he finally releases you, you give him a look. “Namjoon, I love you---but if you just messed up my hair, I’m going to have to kill you.” He laughs. “Fair enough. All right, up you get.” He stands up after you. “Let’s make sure you’re still perfect as ever.” You roll your eyes at his comment, but when he runs his gaze over you, purposefully slow, you can’t stop your heart from beating a little louder. “Well?” “As I said,” he grins, bending down to place a soft, gentle kiss on your cheek: “Absolutely perfect.” Ignoring the blush that creeps over your face, you give him a sincere smile. “Thanks. Ugh, I’m so nervous.” He reaches out and takes your hand, guiding you out of the bedroom and down the hall. “Don’t think about that,” he says. “Just soak it all in. You’ve worked hard for this, my love; you deserve all the good things. Did you eat lunch?” You shake your head. “Do you want me to make you something?” You shake your head again, feeling sick. “Okay, okay.” He squeezes your hand. “Just relax.” Releasing your hand, he grabs your long, black peacoat and helps you into it, careful not to disturb your perfectly planned outfit. “They’re going to love you.” “As much as you love me?” you ask playfully. He fakes outraged shock. “Never.” Grabbing the lapels of your coat, he pulls you to him slowly. “I just love you too much,” he murmurs, before brushing another kiss against your lips. This time when he releases you, you’re ready to go. “Okay.” You exhale again, turning towards the door. “Wish me luck.” “You don’t need it. You’ve got this, babe. It’s all yours, whatever you want.” You smile. “See you tonight.”
The first thing you notice when you enter the office is the impossibly immaculate marble flooring. The receptionist, a woman about your age, looks up and smiles brightly. “Good afternoon. May I help you?” “Y-yes.” You clear your throat and try again. “Yes, thank you.” Handing her the paperwork (and making sure to keep your hand from shaking) you add, “I have an appointment?” She studies the paperwork for just a moment, and you see her eyes widen at something. “Oh you---you’re here for the new position.” “Yes.” It still filled you with giddy excitement: this was literally your dream job, a perfect position to reward all the work you had put in, the menial internships and starter jobs that had led you to this point. You almost don’t notice it when her face falls a little. “Of course. One moment, please.” She opens her mouth like she wants to say something else before changing her mind. Grabbing the phone instead, she dials a few numbers then says into the receiver: “Yes, your afternoon appointment is here.” She listens, then hangs up. “If you wait just a moment, someone will take you back to the offices.” You nod eagerly. “Thank you so much.” She merely smiles, and an unsteady silence falls over you. “The floors in this building are just gorgeous,” you say after a minute, trying to dispel the awkwardness and distract yourself from your own nerves at the same time. “Oh, yes,” she agrees. “They’re the very best, top of the line. We only have the best here.” You smile, even though her response doesn’t really invite much conversation. “How long have you worked here?” “Six years.” “Six--?” You cut yourself off. “Oh. That’s...that’s great. You must really like it here.” To yourself, you think: 6 years as an entry-level receptionist?? She doesn’t really answer. The awkward silence falls again. Finally, a door behind you opens and another woman (this one several years older than you) steps into the waiting area. “Hello,” she says with a practiced smile. “I’ll take you back now to meet with the boss.” “Great.” You turn to the receptionist, but find her already engrossed in another matter. Uncomfortably, you take a quiet deep breath and cross to where the other woman stands. “Thank you so much.” She just nods pleasantly, ushering you through the door. The first thing you notice when you enter the work floor is that you are surrounded by men. Every single desk, every cubicle, is occupied by a man. The second thing you notice is that they all look the same; a sea of the same skin color, haircut, and expression. Somewhere deep down in your stomach, a tiny pit appears. To distract yourself, you catch the attention of your guide. “How long have you worked here?” you ask, trying to keep a pleasant smile on your face. 12 years.” “Oh, wow. That’s great.” She just nods. “I saw your resume,” she adds. “I graduated from the same university.” “Really??” Some of the pit recedes. “What was your major?” “Same as yours,” she says with a little tip of her head. The pit whimpers. “Oh, that’s...that’s really cool,” you say falteringly. She nods again. “I’m certain it’s changed since I was there,” she adds with a laugh. “It has been quite a while.” “I---” The words die on your tongue as you distinctly hear someone call out “Damn, that’s some nice fresh meat” from behind you. Turning sharply, you’re unable to tell which cubicle the comment came from. You look back at your guide and are shocked to see her completely unaffected. Maybe she didn’t hear it... “They are constantly renovating it,” you agree belatedly. Finally, the two of you reach the boss’ office. Without another word, the other woman reaches up and knocks three times on the door. “Enter!” a voice calls from inside. She pulls the door open and ushers you inside the office, where you find yet another man sitting at a desk. “Your 3:15, sir,” she says respectfully. For the second time that day, a pair of eyes wander up and down your frame, but this time you just feel sick. “Ah,” the boss says with a smile. “Lovely. Come on in, doll, have a seat.” You clear your throat and correct him with your name, trying to remain as polite and calm as you can. His smile never wavers, but he ignores your correction and turns away from you to regard the other woman. “So, is the coffee-maker located in a different city, or...?” She blushes deep crimson and nods her head awkwardly. “It’s coming, sir. Very sorry about that.” “Don’t be sorry, just bring the coffee,” he says a little dismissively. “And better add a few muffins, don’t you think, doll?” “Yes, sir. Of course.” He waves her away. “Go on.” The pit has swallowed your entire stomach and is now screaming. “So.....” The boss fixes his gaze on you, and you resist the urge to squirm uncomfortably. “I assume you’re familiar with our company?” “Yes.” You try to ignore the pit, but it’s getting more difficult by the second. “Of course. I was thrilled, actually, to be offered a position here. It fits exactly what I’m looking for, and I think I can be a great asset to the team.” He huffs a soft laugh. “Yes,” he agrees, “A great asset, indeed.” “I’m sorry??” Waving it away, he goes on, “Now doll---” “My name isn’t doll.” The faux-cheeriness falls away quickly. “Don’t get your panties in a twist,” he says derisively. “It’s just a term of endearment. Think of it like a compliment.” Your mouth actually falls open at this one. “A--a compliment?” “Yep. See, doll, we have a system here, an organic sort of environment where people go with the flow.” His eyes harden. “If you manage to remember your place within that environment, you’ll be just fine.” You straighten in your chair. “It is highly unprofessional for you to address me in that way,” you say stiffly. “I believe I’ve already made my opinion on that clear.” You brace yourself for his angry retort. Instead, he laughs in your face. Literally leans forward in his chair and guffaws at you. “Your opinion?? You think I’m hiring you for your opinion? Please.” Your cheeks are hot. “Then what, exactly, did you hire me for?” “Gotta fill a quota,” he shrugs, leaning back in his chair and leering at you again. “And that old hag out there clearly couldn’t cut it even as a waitress, so it’s time for her to go. One out, one in. By the way, do you know how to make espresso?” “No,” you answer tightly, feeling the rage build inside you. “Better learn, then, dollface,” he says with a wink. “Your looks are only 50% of why you’re here. Well, then.” He sits forward, shoving a stack of looseleaf papers in your direction. “Sign on the dotted line, look up a few coffee how-to videos tonight, and come ready to smile tomorrow morning, all right?” He literally pushes the contract into your hands. When you don’t respond, he finally seems to notice your seething anger. The pleasant facade fades. “Problem, dollface?” he asks intently, watching you. Before you can speak, he heaves a dramatic sigh and goes on, “Think carefully before you answer, sweet cheeks. You know how prestigious our company is. Don’t miss out on an opportunity just because of a little girlish pride.” He rolls a pen at you. “I’ll even let you use my expensive pen. Got this from the president himself. Go on, sign your name.” You’re so angry you’re shaking, but you reach out and take the pen; you notice that it’s extremely high quality, carefully engraved with fancy lettering. It must have cost a lot. “My name,” you ask, your voice so quiet he has to lean forward to hear, “Or dollface?” He guffaws again, but it’s cut short in surprise when you rocket to your feet. “You’re disgusting,” you say, rage clipping your words. A million other insults are racing through your mind, but in the end you choose no words: instead, you drop the stack of papers back on the desk and spin on your heel, heading for the door. Yanking it open, you turn back: “To hell with you and your company,” you say, then hold his pen aloft---and promptly drop it in the trash. Before he can speak, the other woman reappears, a mug of coffee and plate of muffins in hand. She takes one look at how your hands are shaking with fury, and instead of looking shocked or alarmed, she looks resigned. It only makes you angrier. So in one smooth motion, you take the mug of coffee from her and carefully, deliberately, pour it into the trash. “Hey! You crazy bitch---that’s my pen!!” His outcry soothes some of your rage, and for the first time, you’re able to smile. Turning to the woman, you nod your head at the plate of food and say, “I’d throw those muffins in there, too, if I were you.” Without another word, you leave the office, head held high all the way down to your car. As soon as you shut and lock the doors, you’re able to fully feel what the pit of fury has been covering: heartbreak.
As soon as you open the door to the apartment, you can smell it: pizza, from your favorite restaurant. No matter how good it smells, it can’t break through your layers of fury. “Hail the conquering hero!” Namjoon sings out as he pops into view; in one hand he has a bouquet of daisies (your favorite) and in the other he’s holding a box of your favorite brand of expensive chocolates. “Welcome home, babe!” You’re speechless. A quick scan of the room reveals the rest of his plans: the table is set with 2 boxes of your favorite pizza, the TV is on and your guys’ favorite video game is loaded, the controllers waiting on the empty couch. He had clearly planned a celebration of your “accomplishment.” You can’t help it: the angry tears clog your throat, burning your eyes and spilling down your cheeks. “Babe...” He looks shocked. Quickly ridding himself of the flowers and the chocolates, he goes to you. Taking your face in his hands, he says, “What happened??” “I’m not going to work there,” you say hotly, tears still streaming down your face. Fear is starting to mix with his concern. “What happened? Are you okay? Did---” “I’m okay,” you manage. Carefully moving out of his grasp, you step all the way into the apartment, shrugging out of your coat and dropping it on the floor. “But that company---they’re just---” Sensing how absolutely wild you feel, he changes tactics: grabbing your hand, he pulls you to the couch and sits down with you, turning towards you. “Tell me.” So you do. You tell him everything, from the uncomfortable atmosphere and whispered catcall to the words ‘dollface’ and ‘sweet cheeks.’ You tell him about the way the man had spoken to you, his open admission about your position, the suggestive way he had looked at you. “How can a company like that still exist??? And those women, they--” you choke on a sob. “The one woman was exactly like me. She graduated with the same degree from the same university, and he turned her into a coffee-girl. I can’t believe I ever wanted to work for them! I hope their building catches fire, I hope both of those ladies quit, I hope he gets hit by a bus, I---” Your anger can’t even find words anymore. “It was disgusting. I should have--should have thrown that coffee in his face or-or something.” You suddenly realize that your boyfriend hasn’t said a word the entire time. Angrily wiping at your eyes, you turn to look at him; and find him absolutely livid. “...Joon?” “I’m going to end him,” he growls. “I’m going to burn that entire place to the ground.” “Baby---” He gets to his feet suddenly. “I’ll make sure he loses everything, make sure the entire country knows the truth about that place.” He starts pacing, his mind racing in a thousand different directions. “The lawsuit will be easy---I’ll make sure both of those other women are compensated extremely well, I’ll make sure that he has to apologize to both of them---no, grovel at their feet and apologize!” You sit back on the couch, watching him rant and rave; it makes you feel better, actually, to not sit alone in this fury. “And you....I’m so sorry, babe, that you had to go through something like that.” His hands clench into fists. “I’m going to kill him for what he said to you, the way he treated you. I should’ve gone there with you, I would’ve knocked that smug smile off his face immediately.” He goes on, detailing all the ways he can bring the company down, the ways he’ll make them pay for what they’ve done. He goes on and on until the anger burns out. And by the end of it, your anger’s been doused, too. Now all you can feel is the heartache. My dream job...what I’ve worked so hard for.. The tears bubble up again, this time in devastation instead of fury. Noticing the change, he exhales heavily and returns to your side. Gathering you in his lap, he rocks you back and forth, pressing constant kisses to your temple and cheeks. “Oh my love,” he says heavily, “I’m so, so sorry.” “I wanted it, Joon,” you admit tearfully. “I wanted that job so bad. Why did it have to be like this?” “I know. It’s not fair.” He holds you close. “Oh, love, I wish I could have spared you from this. I wish I could fix it and make it all go away.” You turn your face towards him, burying it in his neck, and sob. The breakdown only lasts a few minutes, but the entire time he hugs you tight, reminding you that you weren’t alone. When you finally take a breath, he kisses your forehead. “It’s going to be okay. An even better job will come. I know everything sucks right now, but it’s going to get better. Something amazing is coming your way, love, I know it is.” He kisses your temple and murmurs against your hair, “You deserve something better than that place anyway. You’re going to do amazing things. Something better will come.” You take another deep breath and sit up, rubbing at your eyes. “I hope so,” you say thickly. “It will.” Managing a smile, you lean forward and kiss him briefly. “Thanks, Joonie,” you say softly, feeling much lighter. Your eyes dart to the discarded flowers and chocolates. “I feel bad I ruined the celebration...” He shakes his head, squeezing you tight. “You didn’t ruin anything.” A faint smile crosses his lips. “How about....instead of pizza and video games, we do.....pizza and a bubblebath??” You laugh. He smiles happily at the sound. “I’m serious. How does that sound, my love?” “Hmm...pizza in the bath?” You pretend to think. “Amazing.” “Perfect, right?” “Almost.” You get to your feet and hold a hand out to him, waiting. “But perfect actually is pizza and you in the bath.” He grins and takes your hand, getting to his feet quickly. “Like I said: whatever you want, baby.”

Warnings: Its smut. Crying.
They bickered the whole morning, much to Logan's and Virgil's amusement. It felt weird to be the centre of attention, to be the object of desire. He had never thought he could enjoy this so much.
He ended up choosing Patton for his first 'date'. Simply because they knew each other the longest and because, the day he had planned out for them sounded delightful.
They would spend the entire time at home, baking pizza together and indulging in some of their favourite movies. It was a slow start, just the right thing to ease him in, unlike Roman's elaborate ideas that just made him nervous, or Virgil's hesitancy to take control. But he didn't outright object to them. He was still looking forward to it, just... not for now.
The thing with Virgil is, that he would be just as nervous as Logan himself. They would end up just doing nothing and existing quietly alongside each other, which Logan usually adores, but... this was not the point of the experiment. He had to try new things, break out of his routine and that could only happen if he was the one to take the first step. In Virgil's case at least. Logan needed to collect confidence through the other two, he needed someone who could guide him through the experience for now.
Patton was the perfect choice.
They decided to do it as soon as possible, neither of them could stand this tension any longer and a sunday seemed to be the perfect day for this kind of date.
It was exactly what Logan needed. Calm, easy and predictable. Patton managed to calm his nerves each and every time with an impossibly silly pun or just a simple smile, his touches staying soft and gentle, almost casual while they danced around each other in the kitchen.
He knew he could bail out at any second, if he needed to. Just go to his room and the whole thing would be over, no hard feelings, no consequences, no nothing.
But he also knew, the moment of truth would come eventually.
This kept the anticipation bubbling in his stomach but thankfully never quite turned into unbearable anxiety.
After baking the Pizza and cleaning the flour from every surface and themselves, they sat down on the couch to start the first movie. And there they stayed. Just lounging around on the couch, the curly head chasing the physical contact like a dog chasing a treat, but Logan enjoyed it. He was used to Patton needing a lot of affection and finally having someone this close again, made something inside him finally warm up a bit . It felt right.
They only got up to get drinks and their food or for occasional bathroom breaks but other than that, they stayed linked, at least one body part always touching the other one. Patton's head in Logan's lap, Logan's feet draped over Patton's legs, hands intertwined, arms curled around each other.
And then realisation struck.
Halfway through Lilo and Stitch, Logan realised that this, exactly this, was all he had ever wanted. If relationships could be this easy, this natural, he would say yes in a heartbeat.
The domesticity of it all, that's what got him in the end.
And then, he was just moving, leaning down and tilting Patton's face upward, connecting their lips in a soft kiss and finding himself never wanting to let go again.
Kissing Patton was easy, it came natural to him. Lips moving against each other, hands getting lost in hair and soft breaths being shared between kisses.
Eventually, the smaller one climbed into Logan's lap, wrapping his arms around his neck and just pulling him close, letting him brush his fingertips up and down his spine.
Soon, Patton's lips connected with Logan's sensitive neck, kissing a line up and nipping at his ear.
“You know... you can always say no but uhm... I would love to move this to the bedroom.”
Logan nodded. Within barely a second of the offer, he had already agreed and it surprised them both.
Theoretically, they could just do it right here on the couch. No one was around to disturb them, but it was important to Patton that Logan felt as comfortable as possible and he figured his partner would need a bit of structure to calm his nerves. It would be his first time after all.
Patton grabbed the others hand and led the way. Still, Logan felt like he should assume the role of the top, the subtle gesture being completely lost on him.
He took a shaky breath, trying to pull Patton's shirt over his head and overall just being very clumsy with it all.
Patton giggled and cupped the others face, making his worried eyes look down at him.
“Lolo... no. Calm down a little, okay? It's all gonna be okay, I promise. Would you mind letting me take the lead tonight? Just so I can show you the ropes. You could just lean back and enjoy the show.”
Truly, a mixed bag, Logan thought before nodding again, not quite trusting his vocal chords at the moment.
He had to swallow thickly as the, otherwise so innocent boy, pushed him onto the bed, helped him out of his clothes and pulled his own off as well.
They were only in their boxers now, nothing special. They had seen each other like that before. They had been friends for ages after all.
What was new, was the massive bulge in Patton's boxers, making Logan stare for an embarrassingly long time.
Patton just giggled again and eased him onto the mattress, making sure to prop enough pillows under his head.
“Like what you see?”
It would have been sexy and sophisticated, if he hadn't added that ridiculous eyebrow wiggle.
Logan coloured significantly and caught himself wanting to get rid of those last layers of fabric as soon as possible.
“You're- You are- You... fuck. C-can I...?”
Not a very masterful attempt at constructing a question, but Patton still seemed to understand.
“Yeah... do whatever you want, just... I really want to make you feel good tonight. Will you let me?”
Logan merely nodded and stretched his hands out, tracing Patton's beautiful shape and only now fully grasping what it all meant.
Patton was truly adorable. He had, what he himself called 'a cookie dough' body type. Curvy and a little fuller around the belly, hips and thighs.
And Logan adored it.
He knew for a fact, that each and every one in their little group of friends, had issues with at least one part of their body.
But Logan felt as if he was the most boring one. He didn't have Virgil's long, thin limps and edge of his collar and hip bone being so visible against his skin, he didn't have Roman's incredible built, with shoulders like a swimmer and muscles like a warrior and he sure as hell did not have Patton's curves.
Logan was of average height, had a plain and simple body structure and generally nothing interesting going on for him.
Patton seemed determined to get rid of each of these negative thoughts single handedly though, seeing how lovingly he let his hands slide over the others chest and hips, how his lips traced the line of Logans collar bone and up his neck, making him shiver.
“Gosh Lolo, I wanna take you apart for hours, just to see that pretty face of yours light up again...”
Logan had to swallow hard, already feeling incredibly impatient, which was very out of character for him, but he might just spontaneously combust if the knot in his stomach got any tighter. He was just too nervous and scared, that it all would turn out to be nothing but a cruel joke. So enjoying the slow pace right now, proved difficult. He wanted to seal the deal already, so he eagerly lifted his hips as Patton hooked his finger under his boxers waistband.
As his last shield was removed, he realised how incredibly vulnerable and open he was making himself for the world to see. Or well, just Patton in this case. But whats the difference, right? So he wasn't feeling any less scared of rejection.
“You now, we can always take it slow, right? We don't have to go all the way tonight, I could just-”
“No!”
Logan flinched at how his voice cracked as he raised it in protest, so he just shook his head to emphasize his point.
“No I want- I want to go all the way. Please Pat, I can't wait any longer. I'm ready, I promise.”
Patton sighed but smiled softly in response, letting his warm hands soothe along Logan's smooth skin.
“Okay. But you promise to tell me right away if it gets too much, okay?”
Another nod and finally, Patton's hands were on him again, but this time, less hesitant. They stroked over his chest, teasing his nipples and pushing his legs apart. Logan would have never guessed how sensitive his inner thighs could be.
He managed to keep his mouth shut, partially to not embarrass himself and partially, because he was just so used to it. But he had a feeling, that his composure would be slowly drained from him, as his breath caught in his throat at the mere sound of a bottle cap popping open.
He cracked his eyes open to watch Patton spread the sticky liquid on his fingers and even rub them together to warm it up slightly.
“I know what you're about to ask and yes. Yes I'm ready, Patton.”
The other just looked at him dumbfounded for a second, before breaking out in chuckles.
“You're so eager, Baby. Can't stand to not be in control, mh? Oh, just you wait, one of those days I'm gonna make you wait for it until this beautiful mind of yours is filled with nothing but want and need.”
Logan outright whimpered at that suggestion, having to swallow hard and close his eyes, needing a moment to calm his nerves. Still, after releasing a shaky breath, he managed to spread his legs a little more, letting skilled fingers circled his hole.
A wince managed to get past his tightly closed lips, but it soon morphed into a moan.
Patton's fingers managed to go so much deeper than his own ever could and they weren't all impatient and quick, they built up speed, slowly getting him ready, while pressing all the right buttons.
In mere minutes, Logan was reduced to a moaning, writhing mess, pushing his hips down, while trying to get Patton's fingers to fuck him faster, to press against that certain spot harder, but the other wouldnt budge, covering him in kisses and compliments, while working him up to three fingers.
Even though he insisted that he was ready after the second, Patton just shook his head and kissed his lips, knowing full well that he was a lot to take.
It drove Logan crazy. He was so close already, shivering and moaning each time fingers just so much as brushed against his prostate, but each and every time he thought he might fall over the edge, Patton pulled away, redirecting his approach and working on just stretching the other.
Logans whole body was tense and his legs were slowly beginning to shake with the effort, making him almost consider throwing in the towel, just so he could finally cum. But then Patton pulled back, pressing a final kiss to his forehead and beginning to rummage in his jeans pockets for the condom that was stored there.
Logan expected his nerves to come back with a vengeance, but all there was left for him to feel was impatience.
Seeing the full length of Patton's cock for the first time, made his mouth go dry and a curse slip from his lips. Still, his legs fell open easily, his arms reaching out to pull his lover into a deep kiss.
Their glasses clanked together awkwardly, but they left them on, neither of them not wanting to be able to see.
“I'm gonna go slow, okay baby? It might still hurt a bit and I really don't want to make you cry.”
Logan all but scoffed at that thought, definitely not wanting to subject himself to the horrible embarrassment but also truly about to reach his breaking point.
“Patton, I swear to god, if you go any slower- o-oh...”
This might be Logan's first time doing it with someone else, but he had extensive experience with his own fingers and toys, so he should have been fine, right?
Yeah, no.
There are worlds between that and what was happening in that moment.
Feeling Patton's body weigh down on him slightly, having his legs stretched out and wrapped around hips, feeling every single inch of the other sliding into him, filling him up to the brim, knocking the breath out of him.
And then there was that incredible heat, coiling in his stomach, radiating from the others body and filling his lungs.
At one point, Logan felt like he couldn't take any more, there couldn't possibly be more to take, but alas, he was wrong.
As Patton finally bottomed out with a soft sigh, Logan felt himself slip into a state of pure sensation, his mind shutting off for good.
The others slow but steady rolling of his hips, turning into cautious thrusts, had him panting and clinging onto everything he could, letting out little whines of pleasure.
“Oh Lo... Lolo ah, you feel so perfect... You're perfect, you know that? So smart and beautiful and kind and lovely and you feel so good and I've... oh I've wanted to kiss you for years now. I love you, you know that, right? We all do, Lolo and- oh no...”
And then, Logan did end up crying. His eyes were closed and he felt so full, so warm and so absolutely adored, that it became a bit too much for him.
The symphony of sensation, the perfect mixture of being held, of having his body gently guided, of being loved and fucked at the same time. It made something break inside of him.
That seemed to be a good thing though, because Logan found himself clenching his legs around Patton's hips and his arms clinging to the others neck, refusing to let go, not allowing his partner to pull away or end things prematurely.
“Dont. D-dont you dare stop now, Patton. Keep going, I need it, I want it, please just... just keep going?”
It wasn't supposed to sound like a question, but that's how it came out. Unsure and needy and Logan would have been horrified, if he had the capacity to feel anything other than need and love right now.
Pattton looked momentarily alarmed, before finally being able to shake off his worry, a reassuring smile slipping onto his lips as he cupped Logans face, brushing some of his tears away with his thumb and sealing their lips back into a kiss.
“I've got you... just hold on to me, okay? I've got you.”
Logan didn't even manage to nod as the other picked up his thrusts again, this time without hesitation. His back was arched up high, his head thrown back and fingers tangled into messy curls.
His voice was now reaching a volume, he had never imagined possible, all control slipping from him as his moans bounced off the walls and mixed so perfectly with Patton's whispered promises.
As a warm hand managed to slip in between their bodies and close around Logans neglected cock, it took all but two seconds for him to finally let go. The orgasm ripped out of him so suddenly and forcefully, he saw stars for a few moments.
Staying awake after that proved to be incredibly difficult and the only thing he could really process was Patton pulling away, just to tug the blankets up around their bodies and cuddling in next to him almost immideatly.
Despite the incredible calmness Logan was experiencing, his limbs being heavy and sleep tugging at the edges of his consciousness, something did bother him.
“Pat... Patton you didnt...do you want me to uhm... do something?”
Patton laughed gently and shook his head, simply pulling his very sleepy partner into a hug and beginning to play with his hair.
“Its alright, love. You did wonderfully and as long as you're okay, I don't need you to do anything right now. Maybe another time.”
Yes, Logan thought while finally succumbing to sleep. Definitely another time.

HC: Working at a restaurant with them
So I work at a restaurant and let me just say- it kinda sucks. Its either super busy or super dead and *cough cough we are totally understaffed. But anyways, I’d thought it’d be fun to write HC for what it would be like to work with the BNHA boys at a food joint!
MIDORIYA
Where You Two Work:
Definitely a coffee shop, and a super aesthetic one at that
The type that doesn’t actually have the greatest coffee, but one that people come just because of how adorable and peaceful it is
The whole inside is made up of rich browns, creamy whites, and refreshing greens, with knick knacks of all shapes and sizes littering the walls and cabinets (and even from the ceiling)
You had first began working with Uraraka, but she gave her 2 weeks notice to your boss after a month of you working there
But she had also recommended a friend to take her place- and he got hired
On the first day, Midoriya was already pretty nervous- a new job! A new place! What if he couldnt do everything that was asked of him? What if everyone was super mean? What if he just downright hated it?
When he walked in, and saw this beautiful girl at the counter, he couldn't BrEaThE
He seriously thought you were an angel
When you greeted him as you usuallye became a Huge WRECK- stuttering, sweating, the works
And then he said you were going to train HIM
ONE ON ONE
Izuku didn't know whether to be terrified or ecstatic, because he 1) wanted to never be away from you now and 2) he had NO IDEA how he was going to survive being alone with you and having your undivided attention on him for a couple of hours
What makes him Angry:
Hates how people become so rude to you and show you no respect as a person
It also pains him that you just have to sit there and take it
He has literally seen people point in your face, accuse you of outlandish accusations, and call you rude names
Once witnessed an adult woman call you “stupid” and asked you “if you even went to school” because you accidentally put 2 pumps of caramel syrup instead of 3
This has literally happened to me-just not in the same context :\
Another time, this man was screaming in your face on how he hated his coffee and wanted his money back
Midoriya could tell you were extremely stressed even though you were smiling and being cheerful towards the man
The man mistakenly took your positive demeanor as an insult, because he decided to try and throw his half drinken ice coffee at you
Midoriya instantly saw this, and as if as a reflex, caught it right before it splashed all over your apron
“I think it’s time for you to leave now sir”, he said calmly, but his face didn’t match- it was furious
The man tried to yell at you some more, but he saw Izuku’s face and decided it was best to leave
After that incident, Midoriya didnt leave your side and kept checking up on you throughout the shift
How You Usually Work Together:
Midoriya is always the most helpful one
He’s extra helpful with you because of the MASSIVE work crush he has
But if you ever need help cleaning tables? He’s on it
Need to do the dishes? No worries, he’s got it
Just need a 10 minute break? You sure as heck know he’s dropping everything to make sure you rest
He’s not the best at making drinks, but his adorable personality makes him the best cashier
Mingled with your quick drink time, you two are always getting crazy good tips, especially since your both scheduled in the morning, which is typically the biggest rush of the day
Which you both share of course
When it becomes super dead after a big rush, and you two had cleaned up, you’ll make each other’s favorite drinks as you wait for your shifts to end
You two both worked hard, you deserve a free coffee!
Midoriya always asks for green tea boba, and you make whatever your feel like drinking at that moment
You’ll sit on the counter, smiling and laughing at Midoriya’s crazy stories about his friends over at UA, and just relish the feeling of being with him
Because he’s turned into your work crush too
TODOROKI
Where You Two Work:
I imagine Todoroki working at the most BOUJEE-IEST PLACE EVERRR
Like some super expensive sushi place that takes literally 3 months to get a reservation and you need to pay a down payment to eat there
Like tthe Boujee of the boujee
Is that even how you spell boujee oh well ACK
You had quit your last job because you hated it, and were now desperately job searching
One of the job sites you had joined sent you a message that this place was paying $15/hour
I WiSh
You of course instantly applied, and went to an interview a week later, completely nervous because of how rich this place looked
After the interview, you kind of assumed you wouldn’t get hired because you didnt feel you had enough experience, but to your surprised, you got a phone call a few weeks later asking you to come in for Training
You met your boss, and your manager, who showed you the ropes of the place- it was amazing seeing all these high class chefs at work and all the guests you recognized
Everyone was a high figure of society: social media stars, political figures, even heroes!
You began to sweat a little, realizing you’d have to be around this people every night
As you were looking around the room, trying to calm your nerves, you saw him-Literally the prettiest boy you had ever seen
He was wearing a white dress shirt and black bottoms that looked just as expensive as the restaurant, his hair was perfectly split between red and white, and he had a red patch over his blue eye, his expression calm as he filled an empty water cup at a small table
Your manager noticed you staring at Todoroki, your mouth slightly agape
“Ah, I guess you noticed Todoroki!” she cried happily, “Todoroki, when your done helping our wonderful guests, come and say ‘hi’!”
Todoroki looked up, his expression unreadable as he looked at his overly happy manager and your blushing face
He nodded solemnly at the woman thanking him for his water, and came walking over, the pitcher of water still in his hand
“Todoroki, I’d like you to meet our newest hostess, y/n!” she smiled brightly as Todoroki stared at you with so much attention you felt he was staring at your soul
He reached out his hand, his expression blank
“Welcome,” he stated matter of factly
His palm was warm, his calloused skin rubbing against your skin gently
“If you’ll excuse me,” he spoke to you and your manager, “I have to work to do.”
And just as quickly as he came, he was gone, his shoulder inches from brushing yours
“Well, he’s very ...mysterious,” you sighed, wondering if you’d be working with him more- the more you looked at him, the more you wanted to learn more about him
“Yes, yes, that Todoroki sure is a quiet one,” you manager agreed, “But, surprisingly, he’s one of our best servers! Ever since he started working here, we’ve been having TONS of regulars!”
“It’s probably that pretty face of his,” your manager winked, laughing as you blushed
“Or it might be because he’s the son of Endeavor,” she added casually
“WAIT-” you gasped, “He’S ThE sOn oF-
What Makes Him Angry:
The creepsters that try and get with you make him furious
He hasn’t told you he likes you, or even given you a reason to think he has emotions for you because he is terrible at showing any type of feelings, but he is HIGHLY observant of you
Because hes a starer not gonna lie its borderline creepy
He knows your mannerisms for when your happy and having a good day, or when you feel down in the dumps
You could look like the most cheerful person going into work, but Todoroki will know instantly that that happy smile of yours is being strained, and he’ll ask if you’re okay and if you want to talk
So when creepy idiots are trying to give you pick up lines or ask for your number, he knows right when you feel uncomfortable
And it also pisses him off because… he’s got FEELS for you
“Hey uh uhm…” the man yelled with an huge grin, snapping his fingers as if he remembered something he had been straining so hard to recover from his memory, “Y/N! Some more wine sweetheart!”
You turned around, putting on your fakest smile and fighting the urge to roll your eyes.
“Coming right over, sir!” you stated, carrying the very expensive bottle of wine this man had practically drunken half of by himself
“Thanks darlin’,” he smiled, giving you a wink that made you want to laugh in disgust- did this dude really think he had a shot with you? Gross!
“While your at it, why dont you stay for awhile, talk some with me- I’d bet we have alot in common,” he drawled, trying to be suave and smooth-talk you in front of his equally creepy-looking friends
“Sorry to break it to you sir, but if you look around, there’s no room for me to sit. And besides, I have to get back to work-,” you replied slightly less cheerfully, trying to move away,
The man grabbed your wrist, making your blood run cold.
“Aww c’mon darlin’, dont play hard to get,” he said breathily, wrecking of wine, “you can sit right here!” He then patted his lap, giving you a wink as his buddies laughed
You began to turn red form embarrassment, ready to do something irrational to teach this creep a well deserved lesson
“She won’t be sitting anywhere near you sir,” you heard Todoroki’s steady and confident voice near you, feeling his powerful presence that instantly made you feel safe
“And if you keep using vulgar suggestions like that towards our staff, I’ll be forced to tell security-and then I’d be able to teach you a well deserved lesson about manners towards women outside.”
You stared at Todoroki in shock- you had never seen Todoroki this mad, he was always so calm and collected. His face was so dark, it didn't even look like him.
“Are you trying to threaten me kid?” the man asked lowly, his tone dangerous as he began to stand up.
“Wait Nijagke- I think that’s Endeavor’s kid- look at the hair,” one of his buddy’s friend whispered to the man fearfully, “You dont want to mess with Endeavor.”
The man gave Todoroki a hard stare, slowly sitting back down.
“Your lucky you got Daddy’s name to protect you, boy,” the man hissed, “or I’d be the one taking you outside.”
“I sincerely doubt that,” Todoroki spat back, gingerly taking your hand in his and leading you into the break room to make sure you were okay.
How You Usually Work Together:
Todoroki is the definition of mysterious work hawtie
Like he barely talks to you but somehow talks just enough to know him as a person, but you’re always craving more information about him
Like you know he’s full name is Shouto Todoroki, he goes to UA, he’s Endeavor’s kid, he hates his dad, and that he only got this job so he wouldn’t have to be home more than he had to
Todoroki, let me give you a hug ^--^
But he also has the biggest crush on you and doesn’t know how to communicate it, so he does the wierdest crap
Like you once mentioned to your coworkers how you think chivalry is dead because men never give roses anymore, and the next day at work there was this huge rose bouquet in the work room sent to you
Your manager sees all this and totally tries to set you two up ALLL the time
Like she’s always dropping little hints like “Oh really, thats so funny y/n, because TODOROKI’S SINGLE TOO!”
Leaves you always as a stuttering mess while Todoroki blushes softly
Is always offering to do things for you and buy you lunch
And even if you refuse, he still buys you lunch
ALL THE TIME
Because he got that money to spend$$$
BAKUGO
Where You Two Work:
You two work at the most generic food chain, like McDonald’s or Taco Bell
You at first worked with Kirishima, you two only really working there for some extra summer cash
Kirishima was the most positive person ever and you loved working with him because of his optimistic attitude
He was always talking about his buddies at UA, and there was three that always came in asking for free food
*cough cough Pikachu, Tape Boy, and Best Girl Mina
But the one he ALWAYS talked about was his best friend
How Kirishima talked about him, he was a little rough around the edges but was super cool to be around, and you actually wanted to meet him- if he hanged out with such a fun group, he must be as chill, right?
WRONG
You came in one day to see Kirishima in the back room talking to your boss, a spiky blonde next to him that had his hands stuffed in his pockets
You didn’t think really anything of it, until the very next day
Kirishima waltzed in, his buddy from yesterday at his side, looking like he wanted to murder somebody, the hat he was supposed to wear balled up in his hand
“Im not wearing this stupid hat Kirishima,” he spat at his friend with so much force you couldnt help but be a little curious by him- he was pretty hot.
“C’mon Bakugo, its just a hat!” Kkirishima said nonchalantly with his usual smile, waving at you.
“Hey Kirishima, I thought you weren’t working today,” you asked, eyeing his friend from the corner of your eye
Even though he was sulking like a child, it was kinda….cute?
“Yeah, I am,” he sighed, “I was just coming over to introduce you to Bakugo! I got him hired!”
He smiled so happily, you couldnt help but smile with him, his friend still brooding
“Im only doing this because you forced me to, you idiot, and I got hired without your help,” he grunted out, stomping his way behind the counter.
Kirishima looked at your concerned face, giving you a reassuring smile.
“I promise,” he oathed, “he’s a little rough around the edges, but he’ll warm up to you!”
“Good luck training him!” he yelled happily as he walked out the door, leaving you with the fuming blonde behind you
Oh great
What Makes Them Angry
People
Just people in general
He HATES talking to people
He is always cooking because hes quick and makes the food really good, but being even close to customers- NO
He will YELL at a child who drops food on the ground
And has done it
But his biggest pet peeve is people who feel entitled enough to say crap about how to food isnt up to their ‘standards”
Because 1) 9 times out of 10, he made the goddamn food
And 2) They always yell at you for all their insignificant little problems, and you take it
Like what the hell you’re actually nice to them after the yelled in your face?!
He hates seeing you cry
Like if somebody makes you cry- they’re dying
One time a lady screamed at you from the register that she shouldn’t have to pay for cheese on her burger, calling you really rude names
You politely excused yourself to get your manager, and as you walked by Bakugo in the back, he saw you trying not to cry
Angry Pomeranian activated
As you’re explaining the situation to your manager as he hands you some water to calm down, you both hear Bakugo screaming in the front
“-THE HELL YOU YELLING AT MY COWORKER?! YOURE EATING AT MCDONALDS YOU IDIOT HOW CHEAPER DO YOU WANT IT TO BE?!”
You literally had to fight for your boss to not fire Bakugo after that
How you usually work together:
Bakugo acts like he always hates being there
Only talk in grunts and eye rolls
When he does talk, he’s always whining or yelling
Its kinda scary
He always acts indifferent to you-but- he actually likes you
Like ALOT
When he clocks in, he is always angry, until he sees you, and he seems to melt a little bit
He thinks, for some odd reason, you look adorable in the uniform
Which was a real What the Hell moment for him because HE IS HaRdCoRe
He doesnt do CRUSHES
Kirishima catches on real quick though
He doesn’t really say anything about it- he just kinda watches it
When he drops hints though to Bakugo, Bakugo intatantly gets MAD
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN I GOTTA CRUSH ON HER?! ON THAT TWERP?! HELL NO!”
Thats when Kirishima KNOWS his buddy definitely has a crush
One time you were slightly late to work, still not even in dressed in your work clothes
You were wearing a cute off the shoulder top with a skirt
“Sorry! I was at a family event! I didnt think I’d be late!” you huffed out, hastily clocking in
BAKUGO COULDNT STOP STARING
When you walked, he literally was just MESMERIZED by your LEGS
Kirishima noticed his friend practically drooling
“Really?” he laughed, elbowing his friend, “No crush?”
“SHUT UP YOU BAKA,” Bakugo stuttered, trying to hide his blush
AHHHHH

Blah its me
Kili x Modern!reader
Summary:Imagine Kili being sent to find you ,to only to see you dressing by a small river, spotting your belly button piercing. And him liking your earrings so much that he asks you to pierce his ears.
over 2280 words
You we apart of Thorin's company since you fell upon fron the sky ,whacking your head on a tree, landing face first infront of the company who rode ponies. You had used your arms to stop you whacking your face in the mud. You had groaned, standing up brushing the mud from your bottom."I have been falling for 30 minutes!" you had growled not noticing the bunch of dwarves,a hobbit and a wizard had been eyeing you. "d-did she just fall out of the sky?" the hatted dwarf had spoke ,in which in time you learned to know his name as Bofur.
The dwarves sat still on their ponies in spoke, until the youngest Durin prince spoke "did it hurt when you fell from the heavens of malah?" he spoke flirting while you as the older dark haired dwarf turned around and shot him a look, which he simply ignored. "I feel some stairs and ended up here not down from heaven..." the words slipped quietly from your lips ,the wizard had looked at you thinking before he spoke "it seems that this maiden is not from middle earth ,Am I correct?" you wanted to know who the fuck he knew that."middle earth, what no,its just earth." he hummed at you. Soon after that you were apart of the company,to much off Thorins disagreement you were in.
Which led you to now you were in Rivendell already;Thorin didnt like that very much. You were quite happy with about ,Elrond had given you a room with a bath, you hadnt had a proper clean in a long while. Plus a cute elf named Lindir, had accompanyed you to your room, offering you his arm. You had happily taken it blushing, the dwarves werent impressed by this ,Kilis face scrunched up in jealousy.
It wasnt a shock to Fili that his brother had grown to have a crush on you,a strange girl from another world. He knew better to keep it to himself ,and only tease Kili about it quietly. Thorin was only just beginning to like you,Fili didnt want you being left on the side of the road if his uncle found out about his youngest nephews feelings for you.
You had thanked Lindir greatly for helping you to your room,he had smiled at you "you are very welcome lady y/n,Elrond has told me about you and wishes me to inform you that if you would like you can stay here in Rivendell." you didnt know what to say ,you loved it in Rivendell and Lindir was indeed bodacious, but you grown to like a certain prince. Not that you could do anything about it,he was royalty ,you were a mere human ,not that kili acted like a prince more immature than anything.
"I really couldnt, they would feel betrayed,"you spoke quietly.looking at your dirty shoes. "though its not only reason is it?" his voice was like silk in noise, golden smooth, his head high as you look up at him ,shaking your head no. "Im sure he returns your love." you almost choked ,as he left how could he known, damn. You turned into your room almost turning into sonic running to the bath. Soon scrubbing yourself with the rich soaps and oils, conditioning your hair.
After you had wrapped yourself in one towel;another in your hair. Slowly dressing yourself in your short underwear, not boxers but they were were shorts and underwear. And your bra from your world ,about to put on the mint green dress Elrond had sent to your room, well was until the door knocked. "who is it?" (james franco pineapple express, yeah you sound like that ) "Bluh it's me" he stated ,je was still annoyed about Lindir, but he didnt hold it to you ,it wasnt his choice who you liked. You hadnt realised that you were fully dressed ,your wet hair now down ,water making your skin shine against the light. As you walked towards the door, opening it to reveal Kili he hadnt yet bathed clearly.
His eyes quickly scanned your body, blushing as he say you in your underclothes, you looked at him confused to his facial expresion. "Im sorry , I disturbed you,its just dinner is ready," You had looked down to see what he gestured about ,you had blushed in embarrassment."oh god, yeah I'll be right there." you tried to play it off ,but his eyes still kept glancing ,he nodded turning to leave, but a jem catches his eye.
He turns back to you loooking down at your bellybutton gasping "Is that a jem in your bellybutton?"he beyond shocked he had never seen something like it before,he didnt understand why you hadnt shown it off,he thought it was beautiful. "oh..um its my belly button piercing?" he had looked even more confused ,looking down to see how it worked. You sighed pulling him in by his arm, making him almost fall over, sitting him on the side of the bed,you laying flat next to him. So your stomach looked flatter than when it did when you sat,not that you should be ashammed ,it was just so he could see. He had looked at you as you unscrewed the ball pulling out the bar. "see theres a hole, damn thats what she said." his hand went near before he pulled it away, you pulled it back assuring it was fine.
He had grabbed the bar eyeing it ,before popping back into its rightful placing securing the ball ontop. " do men in your world have that too?" he had questioned as you stood up pulling the dress on before sitting next to Kili on the bed. "no not many ,its mostly because they get made fun of by other men that claim its a gay thing to do aka ,men that like men do it ,but it isnt anyone can do it,more women have it done. some people are just scared of the pain of having it done ,but inreality it doesnt hurt at all, just the same as my first ear ones," in the end you had pointed to your earrings that lay on the lobe.
kill had watched interest,he really thought you were the most beautiful thing you had ever seen. "i like it very much y?n it suits you very well." you had smiled blushing as he smirked at your reaction."thank you kili." you looked the floor not knowing what to say after that."do you think one day you will help me go get my ears done like yours are on that bit?" he spoke shyly pointing to your ear lobe. "I mean if you want.. I could now." you response now looking at kili whos face lights up like the moon in the night sky, nods eagerly, you run to your bag grabbing your spare unused hoops and clean needle and a slightly wet cloth, rushing back to him.
You jump on the bed ,bouncing slightly almost stabbing yourse;f with the needle, you kneel facing his left ear. "just the one ear?" at the moment you had one stud in your first hole and in the otherside a lego indiana jones figure dangling. Like who didnt play at least one lego game on the wii as a child, maybe you still do cough me. "what do you think?" he had questioned holding the needle and earring as you used the cloth to clean his lobe gently,he tried to stay still under your grip."I think the one for now ,so you can sleep on the other side, without aggravating it while it heals." you spoke quietly, standing up to put the cloth down on the beside table, pulling the dress up before sitting back down now comfortble on your knees thats what she said.
"alright then, just the one please." he looked at you smiling nervously, you smiled back at him excitedly. You lined the needle up to the appropriate position. "you ready?" you asked him."ye-Ow" you had cut him off stabbing the needle through, and placing in the hoop. "that did not hurt, youve been stabbed by a bloody sword, and made less of a fuss. did that go over your head?" you grabbed the cloth once again ,shoving his hand away from the ear as he rubbed ,now cleaning the piercing.
"Nothing goes over my head my reflexes are too fast, I would catch it." you snorted at his response pulling him up from the bed, discarding the cloth, leading him to the mirror standing behind him as he looked at the earring with a big grin."Ilove it!" he practially shouted turning around engulfing you in arms twirling you around, your face flashes red as does his when he puts you down embarrassed. "i-im sorry," he spoke looking at the floor you had grabbed your hand "dont be ,lets go the company will be waiting." you spoke pulling the blushing dwarf out the door with you.
You had let go of his hand once you had reached the others, sitting down beside bofur, kili beside you. They had stared at you brielfly."you look very nice ,lass." bofur had told you smiling next you ,you had blushed quietly thanking him. "Yes,,Y/n you look truly look more beautiful than when you were covered in mud,if that was even possible." fili smirked at you then briefly at his brother ,he wanted him to step up stop being so scared of you a shy guy, like you would go blurting out that you didnt like him,but you did. "t-thank you." you werent used to the compliments ,nor many people interacting with you.
"kili, what is that in your ear??" Thorin had interrupted the dwarves commenting on you ,his voice stern, his face almost a frown, you looked at kili nervously you didnt want to get in trouble from thorin. "SO ,I basically accidently saw y/n had an earring thingy in her bellybutton-" "A what? lass show us." bofur had cut him off now everyone was starring at you, waiting ,you stood up. Only for kili to pull on your telling you not to do what you were about to do ,sending you a pleading look. You had shook your head ,assuring him it was fine ,pulling the dress up above your belly button.
You had just revealed to the whole company a f/c jem that was your bellybutton jewerly, also your bare thighs and underwear. That elf Lindir had smirked at you, causing kili to almost explode,as he saw it the dwarves were in shock as you sat down, they still said nothing. "why would you keep such beauty hidden?" Dwalin the least person you wouldve expected spoke up,you didnt think he thought anything was beautiful expect maybe I dont know his mother. "..uh b-because I cant wonder around with you guys in half a shirt ,I would definitely get stabbed easier." you spoke yet again quietly ,making bilbo laugh at your tone. Kili smiled before breaking the silence ,"so yeah anyways I made her pierce my ear,how do I look? more majestic than uncle?" he had mocked shaking his hair slowly ,like a hair product advert, making you giggle.
"So you two are courting?" Thorin asked eyeing down his sisters youngest son,you both sat there not knowing what to say ,until you did. "w-what do you mean?" you had questioned the dwarven king. "he means Kili saw you practially naked ,and then you gave him a body modification, and then supplied him with the jewerly, all pretty intimate it seems." Bofur piped up,taking a drag from his pipe. You blushed ,looking at the salad infront of you ,picking up a piece of cucumber chewing it avoid the scene, "y/n ,may I speak with you ?"you had turned to kili nodding grabbing another piece of cucumber as he took your hand helping you up,leading you to a hall with the sword that chopped saurons fingers off.
He stood infront of you his eyes filled with panic ,and nerves ,as he literally lunged foward cupping your cheeks pressing his lips to yours, before pulling away embarrassed."y/n,im sorry, but they are right,I want to court you." he paced around ,until you spoke "dont be sorry" he stopped turning to look at you shocked, "i want to court you" thats all it took for him to pull you into a passionate kiss, before pulling away when you had heard someone clearing their throat.
"finally,I having been trying to force this for weeks." fili poopped out smirking, and soon after bilbo "and me"
"how??" kili and questioned, holding you in an embrace. "well we would accidently trip you into each other or get you both on nightwatch together ,or-" "okay we get it thank you very much "
"god damnit dildo gaggins and the jensen ackles ,john travolta love child."
a/n lets pretend i didnt pierce my mid ear with a safety pin at 14 or give myself an umbrella stick and poke at 14 because of tom holland dancing to umbrella. dont do it ,dont risk your life doing something stuipid like i did. yeah thats what this is based off.

I know for me it started out as something to keep me busy over lock down back in March, not it has become so much more and not only an escape but a wonderful piece of my heart and I love both Robyn and Taron so much.
Love Suze xxx
*PS - Disclaimer - I dont know Taron and this is just a piece of fiction*
9
“The ultimate purpose of life is to live with the excitement of gaining new experiences and embrace unknown and uncertain possibilities.”
“Don’t fall asleep on me.”
“Just resting my eyes.” Taron smiled as he lay in the car with his head leaning back against the seat.
“Always tired.” Robyn sighed.
“Getting over a chest infection.” He replied his lips still pulled in grin. “And I have been awake since six.”
“And me.” She said. “With no sleep the previous night. Should be me feeling sleepy.”
Taron opened his eyes and rolled his head to look her. “But you can function on little sleep whereas I cannot.”
“Well that is true.” Robyn was sitting sideways on the seat, with her right shoulder leaning against the soft leather. She watched his eyes search hers. “What?”
“Nothing.” He turned his head back into place.
“What Taron?” She said as she gently poked his side.
“I am waiting for my sleep lecture from you.” He turned to look at her again. “Going back to work on Monday for long on set days.”
“Ahh young Master Egerton you forget that you will be only two hours away from me this time.” Robyn grinned. “And I am getting my own trailer.” She winked. “Lots of opportunities for me to nag you about sleeping.”
“You don’t nag me.” Taron lifted his head, his face turning serious. “You look out for me.”
“I do go on a lot about you sleeping.”
“Because it’s my favourite thing to do?”
“Among other things.” She replied. “But yes, the so-called nagging will commence in due course I am sure.”
“Least I am closer to you so I can come and have a cosy duvet sleep more often.”
Robyn smiled. “Any time rocketman. I keep a key hidden under the dolphin flower pot at the front door and you already know the code.”
Taron sat up chuckling. “You keep a key under a flower pot? So very original and dangerous.”
Robyn shrugged. “Kilcreen is small and only those who live on our road, drive down it.” She saw Taron’s nose crinkle up and she stretched to tap his nose lightly. “Maybe I just need to give you a key then and you can come and crawl into my bed to sleep whenever you want.”
“You might regret that decision.” Taron answered, feeling his heart miss a beat at the mention of getting a key to Robyn’s home. “I would be there every weekend.”
“Thought you had to work weekends.” Robyn threw back at him.
Taron leant his head against the seat again and closed his eyes. “Meh, work smurk.” He chuckled, waiting for the nudge but it never came. Instead, he felt her lean against his left shoulder, slipping her right hand into his left. “What you doing?”
“Stealing your heat.” She answered as she shuffled a little lower on the seat, so her head rested comfortably on him.
“You wouldn’t be cold if you had of kept my jacket.” He lifted his arm and slipped it around her shoulders and back, feeling Robyn move a little closer into him.
“You needed that for the walk back out into Leicester Square. I told you there would be photographers waiting for you as we left to get back into the car.”
“You needed it ‘cos you were cold.”
“You shouldn’t have chosen a backless design for the dress.” She said. “And it looked better for you to be wearing your jacket.”
“I like the backless design.” He said into her hair. “But I don’t want you to be cold.”
“I am not now.” Robyn slipped her right arm around his left like she had done inside the cinema, her hand going straight into his. “Sorry about the perfume.”
Taron chuckled. “It’s alright.”
“I sprayed some before I remembered I was wearing your jacket.”
“It really is ok. I would imagine you will be wearing my jacket again at some point this evening. You could be wearing it now.”
Robyn gave his hand a hard squeeze. “We aren’t going through this again. It’s a pity your mam couldn’t come along.” She quickly changed the subject.
Taron turned his head to the window as he yawned before he answered her, recognising the buildings they were passing by. The drive to Quaglino’s, the venue for the after party, was only five minutes away from Leicester Square and he was a little disappointed that they were practically there as Robyn got comfy on his chest. He yawned once more, then answered her. “She was happy to head back to the hotel.”
“I am glad she wasn’t staying at the Montclam.”
“Me too. I had wanted to book her in there but she was having none of it. I even told her she could have the spare room at my flat too but she insisted on picking her own hotel. She wanted to leave early tomorrow anyway to get back to Aber.”
“I really want to try and go back to visit your family in Aber Taron.” Robyn said as she brushed her thumb over the back of his hand. “Definitely want to see them all again. It was nice to see your mam tonight.”
“She was very happy to see you and yes I think we need to organise a trip back home. My sisters are not going to let me hear the end of this. ‘Mam got to see Robyn and we didn’t.’” Taron said in a high-pitched sing song voice. “I need to make a plan for you to come over soon. It will be much harder now though with my filming schedule.”
“We can figure something out.” Robyn assured him.
Taron nodded and then took a look out the car window. “And we are here.”
“What?” Robyn lifted her head from his chest and looked through the blacked-out windows. Lyndsey had already warned her about the photographers who would be hanging around and it was another reason why she had insisted on giving Taron back his jacket and she could see the flashes as those outside were desperate to get the first photo of whoever exited the car. “That was quick.”
Taron nodded. “Only around the corner.”
“Literally around the corner.”
“I will get out of the car first Robyn and then you can follow me.”
“Sure.”
Taron waited for Clive to open the door of the car and he could see the bright flashes of the camera before he even stepped out of the car and although he knew it was part of his job, it still frustrated him a little that there was such a need for his photo to be taken when the formalities of the premier were completed. Once out of the car, he buttoned his jacket, inhaling Robyn’s perfume that lingered on the velvet, a half-smile on his lips. He had fully belly laughed when she told him the story on the way out of the theatre about how she accidently sprayed some perfume without thinking, the spritz of a feminine scent now mingling with his masculine one. Shaking his head a little, he turned his attention back to Robyn who had already started to get out of the car and quickly reached for her hand to help her. The flashes increased and Taron apologised to Robyn with his eyes and found his cheeks blushed as she leant into him and placed a very quick kiss on his jaw.
“Let’s give them something to photograph.”
“You are getting me into so much trouble.” He whispered to her as they stepped up onto the footpath outside Quaglino’s.
“I am just enjoying how smooth your skin is.” Robyn replied as she slipped her right arm around his left elbow.
Taron laughed loudly. “You had better get your fill of feeling it cos tomorrow it won’t be this soft any more.” He walked her three steps and then stopped. “Welcome to the after party.”
Gold bars with pristine gold rope lined the way into the premises, large glass doors and windows used for the entrance. They stepped inside and Robyn eyes took in the spotless carpet, gold, yellow and black triangles which bounced under her heels, pale cream seats and tables to her right and the cream wall paper embellished with gold tape in different shaped triangles oozed luxury. In front of her a long black and gold stair case led the way downstairs to what she presumed was the location for the party. It was bright and fabulous and Robyn knew she never would have ever stepped foot in such a swanky place if it hadn’t been for Taron. The host at the left of the stairs greeted them as they walked a little further into the entrance of the restaurant.
“Welcome to Quaglino’s.” The host smiled. “Can I interest you both in a glass of champagne?” He gestured to a server who stood at the cream tables, holding a black and gold tray with five champagne flutes on it.
Taron shook his head politely. “No thank you.” He knew he was still taking his antibiotics and wouldn’t even risk mixing alcohol with them, even though he had downed two straight vodkas the day before, this time the drink wasn’t needed to save Robyn from drowning her sorrows.
“No thanks.” Robyn repeated.
“Please make your way downstairs. The first floor has the bar and a small buffet, while the second will become host to some music within the hour. Enjoy your evening Mr Egerton, Miss Quinn.”
Taron nodded and grinned at Robyn who looked a little surprised that the host know who she was. “Everyone just expects us to be together now Miss Quinn.” He said to her keeping a tight grip on her arm as she carefully stepped down the black and gold stairs in her heels, holding her dress up a little in her left hand.
“I am slowly getting used to everyone knowing my name.”
“You are down as my guest Robyn. It’s the only reason everyone knows who you are.”
“Sure Taron.”
“Of course there is always the little thing of where you saved my life.”
Robyn pretended to sigh with frustration but she was grinning. “Always comes back to that doesn’t it.”
“Always.” He turned his head to place the lightest of kisses on her temple before concentrating on walking down the stairs which led to a wooden reception area, where another host stood behind a gold lit counter. To the left of the reception area the wooden floor continued into the bar, seats and stools, red and cream in colour sat beside gold tables with candles on either side of the walk way. A glass railing gave way to the view of the second floor, which was buzzing with people sitting and chatting together. Robyn could also make out an oval bar in the centre of the lower floor, gold lighting surrounding the entire edge of the wooden bar. On the floor they stood on to the left she could see the red background behind the bar on the first floor making it stand out among all the gold decorations. There was a large crowd mingling together around the bar too and the atmosphere was light and cheery, those invited to the afterparty already enjoying the evening so far.
“Robyn?”
She turned her head to Taron as he called her name, a lovely cute little smile on his face. He had noticed her taking everything in, her eyes wandering around as she found her baring’s before they actually walked into the crowd.
“Sorry.” She apologised, giving his hand a little squeeze.
“Would you like a token to bring home with you?” He asked her, already knowing what her answer was going to be.
Robyn looked at the black velvet bag the receptionist was holding up, a gold Kingsman symbol embodied into the bag.
“Do you even need to ask?” She chuckled unlinking her arm from his and taking the bag. “Thank you.” She slipped it into her clutch bag, leaving it to be opened later on once she didn’t have many pairs of eyes on her.
“Sure. Well I hope you have a nice evening. If you need anything at all, please come back to me and I will help you.”
“Thank you.” Taron turned to Robyn. “So chicken, which way first?”
“To find new celebrity friends!” Robyn laughed and turned to the left, pulling Taron with her and together they walked down the wooden aisle, towards the bar.
Just like when Taron brought Robyn to Elton’s party, he introduced her to many people, names and faces she knew she would have forgotten by the end of the evening. Those who had never met Robyn before, were keen to shake her hand and thank her for helping Taron all those months ago and both had repeated the story of what happened in Florida many times before they even reached the bar.
“I think I don’t want any new celebrity friends.” Robyn whispered to him as she gripped his hand tight, both finally reaching the bar, nearly an hour after they arrived at the venue for the afterparty. “I will stick you and Richard.”
Taron chuckled as he caught the attention of the bar man. “Can I get a glass of water please?” He looked to Robyn who nodded to him. “Make that two please.” He leaned against the bar, making sure he was keeping as close to Robyn as he could. Trying not to show how inwardly concerned he was about her, being around some of the people who had tried to crowd her back at the Odeon. “So, no new friends then?” He questioned, lifting his right hand to brush some of her still curled hair over her left shoulder.
She smiled as his sweet little gesture. “I am happy with you and Richard. I don’t need anyone else.”
“What about Colin?”
“I would like to stay on the good side of your mother.”
Taron chuckled a little. “No need to worry about that.”
“However, I do want to talk to him about those Kingsman set stories.”
“I am sure there will be plenty of time for that this evening.” The barman came back with their water in two gleaming crystal glasses and Taron thanked him. “You wanna take a seat with Colin and Matthew? I can see them at a table just at the railing. I know they have kept a seat for us.”
“Sure.”
Picking up their glasses, Taron led the way to an oval table which looked over the second floor, the two free seats decorated in zebra print with a gold cushion, empty and waiting for them. Matthew and Colin had taken two seats on one side of the table, leaving two for Taron and Robyn on the opposite side. The Welshman let Robyn into the seats first, giving her the view over the railing. Taron felt better sitting on her left side and having the railing to her right, knowing she was protected on both sides.
“You take a detour along the way?” Matthew asked with a wink.
Robyn immediately saw the change in Taron’s face, his eyebrows frowning a little. The older man had already left the theatre and didn’t know what had happened out in the lobby. She stretched her left hand to Taron’s knee under the table and gave it a light squeeze. “I had some technical dress issues.” She explained hoping the two men bought her story. “Took a while to fix. I am used to jeans and a hoodie, not these fancy gowns with many layers.” She lifted her glass of water and took a drink.
“Taron help with that?” Matthew grinned.
“Lyndsey and I got stuck in the bathroom for a while. Maybe his next premier can be themed and we can all wear pyjamas instead.”
“I definitely can work with that idea.” Taron agreed placing his hand over Robyn’s on his knee. “Means I can just jump right into bed once I get home.”
“Which should be soon young man.” Colin pipped in. “You haven’t had the easiest of weeks and I know you are back to work on Monday.”
Robyn smiled at Colin’s words, while Taron rolled his eyes. “Pyjamas are definitely my chosen outfit choice for the rest of weekend.” Robyn took her hand from Taron’s knee. “And he has the next two days to rest and sleep and to be fair, I was the one who kinda begged him to come to the after party. I don’t know if he is ever going to invite me to a premier again so I have to experience everything tonight just to be sure.”
“Well Robyn, I have no doubt in my mind. Taron will definitely be asking you to join him by his side again.” Colin said as he picked up his glass of brandy. “Every man needs a strong, independent and spirited woman behind him.”
Robyn grinned. “Spirited? That’s one word for it.”
“We all heard about your bravery in Florida, how you defended Taron with everything you had as well as doing something most people would shy away from and I don’t mean the CPR. Even just to go to a stranger’s aid when they are in distress is almost unheard of today.” Colin put his glass back on the table. “I know a lot of people are quite partial to having Taron around, myself included and you too it seems, so Robyn you be as spirited at you want. In our world, in Taron’s world, you need someone by your side who will stand there no matter what and be that person who is not afraid to speak out.” Colin picked up his glass again and held it out to her. “So, I believe that deserves a toast. To being spirited and standing by our loved ones.”
After a clink of glasses, Robyn was ready to turn the conversation to her favourite topic at the moment.
“So, Colin, you made me a promise of stories about Taron from the set and I am most definitely ready to hear them.”
Taron groaned and picked up his glass to drink the remainder of his water. “I think I need a re-fill. Be right back.” Without a second thought, he leaned into Robyn and kissed her cheek. “Don’t believe a word they say.”
She watched as he got up, straightening his jacket once standing and walked towards the bar, getting stopping no more than five steps away from their table by someone he knew and they wanted to talk to him.
“Please tell you two have at least kissed because this sexual tension between the two of you is absolutely unbearable!” Exclaimed Colin. “And that boy does nothing but talk about you and if the conversation or topic has nothing to do with you, he will find a way to get your name into somehow.”
Robyn could feel her face turn red and looked to Matthew for some help but he just shrugged his shoulders.
“I was there in Paris when you helped him. You helped him.” He repeated. “Not me or Lyndsey. You. Says a lot I think.”
“I just don’t take any of his nonsense.” Robyn tried to defend her actions in Paris.
Matthew and Colin looked to each other and then back to the woman in front of them. “Now Miss Quinn,” Colin said, her surname rolling off his lips in his wonderful accent. “You know that is complete and utter bollocks. You are head over heels in love with Taron and him with you and if you don’t get your act together soon and start doing some things that should not be mentioned at this table because they make you blush like that, well you are just missing out on something wonderful and that is Taron and believe me, Miss Quinn, you do not want to miss out on him.” Robyn stared at the table before looking to Colin, his soft brown eyes looking her way. “You wouldn’t do such wonderful things for him if you didn’t love him and you definitely wouldn’t have flown all the way to New York to our set to give him a good old-fashioned show down, which by the way, I very much approve of. Nothing like a feisty woman to put a man in his place.”
“So, I have been told.” She looked to her left, Taron still standing as he had been but talking to different people. “So, I am not getting any stories of Taron, am I?” She asked.
“Not until you spill some secrets of your own.” Colin replied. “So, have you kissed?”
Robyn rolled her eyes. “You want all the details?” She asked.
“Not at all. I just want to know if you have kissed. Yes or no?” Colin smiled.
“Then yes we have but it was because of a bet I had with a girl friend of mine.” Robyn admitted.
Matthew and Colin grinned. “You are much more easier to break than Taron is and I am so surprised at you Robyn!” Matthew smiled widely.
Robyn’s mouth dropped open. “What?”
“We have been trying to get it out of Taron for months if you two have kissed or not and he refused point blank to answer.” Matthew laughed.
“What?” She repeated, her hands going to her face.
Colin chuckled. “Oh dear Miss Quinn, you are in trouble.”
Groaning Robyn looked to the two men opposite her. “You do not tell Taron any of this. I didn’t know he was keeping it quiet and it was because of a bet and nothing else.”
“On one condition.” Matthew teased.
“Go on.” Robyn rose an eyebrow at him.
“You promise me that you come and visit him as often as you can on set in Belfast. He is going to need your emotional support during this film.” Robyn’s face turned from worry to surprise and then slowly to concern. “The script is a tough emotional ask and I know how his emotions run and I am sure he will need a good friend to lean on.”
Robyn nodded. “Every weekend if I can.”
Matthew laughed. “Maybe once a month.”
“So Taron can come to me every second weekend then.”
Colin laughed at the exchange. “So did Mr Egerton have anything to do with the new filming location? Still in England but on the island of Ireland and closer to you.”
Matthew shook his head. “None at all.” He looked to Robyn. “You know you are welcome to the set whenever you want but the only thing I will ask for, is that you just give Taron some notice. Filming days are long and complicated and as welcome as you are…”
“… Taron is working. I know and don’t worry. I will just as busy as he is. I only have weekends free but I will make sure to call ahead first.”
“So these kisses.” Colin changed the subject. “Anything you can give me at all? I might need some bribery material for when we film the next Kingsman.”
Robyn chuckled. “And seeing as how that is going to be a couple of years from now, I think I might be keeping that information to myself.”
Colin sat back in his chair with his glass. “Never mind. I am sure by the end of the year, those kisses will be many and plenty and constant and not very secret at all and when that happens, I know Taron won’t be able to keep quiet about it.”
While Robyn did laugh with Matthew at Colin’s words, she knew her cheeks flared red. Everyone she spoke to lately about Taron, was so adamant that they soon would be more than friends. “What will be, will be.” She replied. “So now these stories. You promised me on the red carpet some good ones.”
Colin grinned and moved a little closer to the table. “Where to begin.”
Taron sighed as he was stopped once more on his way to the bar to get another glass of water. He appreciated the support from everyone who wanted to talk to him, to congratulate him on the movie, to talk about Florida and Robyn but he could hear a light rasp in his voice as he spoke, excusing himself as he coughed in-between sentences. He was desperate for a drink to ease his dry throat but having been stopped once more for a chat, he politely engaged in the conversation.
“Yeah it is hard to believe it was eight months ago really.” He agreed. “Honestly I try not to think about it too much.”
“Must bring up some hard memories.” The friend of Matthew asked. Taron couldn’t remember his name and just nodded in agreement. “But you have gained a wonderful new friend in Robyn. I am sure you are so grateful for her.”
Taron nodded once more. “I was very lucky that she was around and willing to help me out and she is definitely a very important person in my life.”
“I can only imagine how important she is to you. I mean she saved your life.”
Taron held his tongue and again found himself nodding in agreement. “I definitely consider Robyn to be part of my family. She will always be important to me. Sorry if you excuse me, I just see someone else I know and have been waiting to talk to.”
Using the weak and feeble excuse, Taron shook the man’s hand. He was vaguely aware of Matthew’s friend and didn’t want to appear rude and walk away but now having ended the conversation, finally made his way to the bar and got to order his glass of water. He turned slightly to look through the crowd, covering his mouth as he coughed again. He rubbed his eyes and then yawned, trying to shake his tiredness away. Seeing Robyn engaged in a very animated conversation with Colin and Matthew, which slightly worried him, he still wondered how she was still so wide awake and full of energy but it had always been Robyn’s way since he had met her. He thanked the barman as his water was placed in front of him and downed the glass in two long gulps, the water easing his dry throat.
“Can I get you anything else sir?” The barman asked, seeing him drink his water quickly.
Taron contemplated ordering a strong coffee but figured it would keep him awake later on once he was home, when all he would have wanted to do was sleep. “Just another glass of water please.”
He looked to the table of his friends again and not for the first time that evening, his heart fluttered hard in his chest, tingles travelling through his whole body as he took Robyn’s beautiful side profile. He had been initially worried about taking her onto the red carpet, letting the whole world see her, knowing she was nervous about the whole experience but as usual Robyn had taken everything about the premier in her stride. He was still bothered by what had happened in the lobby of the theatre and knew Robyn had pushed it to the side for him, so he could continue to enjoy his night but knowing she was with Colin and Matthew eased his mind, her attention was completely taken by whatever story his co-star was telling her, Taron felt he could take the time to properly appreciate how beautiful she looked. The backless dress, which had taken full advantage off by placing his hand on her bare back throughout the evening, was fancy fancy to the extreme and although Robyn wearing his boxers and tank top was a look he wished he could have enjoyed more last weekend, the green shimmery dress was exquisite and he found himself sighing, covering another yawn.
“Here is your water sir.”
Taron thanked the bartender and picked up his glass, making his way back to the table, praying he wasn’t going to be stopped on the way. He checked his watch as he walked. Just after midnight. Inside Taron felt ready for bed but knew that even though he wasn’t obliged to attend the after party, it was good to make face and seeing the smile on Robyn’s face, only filled his own lips with a smile. He definitely planned on taking advantage of being at home in his own flat for the next two days and lounge around watching movies all day.
“So he really slipped off the cab?” He heard Robyn ask Matthew
“We all got a bit of a shock when he hit the ground. He did get up straight away but I had the onset medics give him a once over who gave him the all clear.”
“You do realise he had actually hurt himself after that fall.” Robyn said to Matthew, seeing Taron take his seat next to her.
“He did?” Matthew looked to Taron as he sat down. “You hurt yourself after that fall?”
“What fall? There were so many.” He saw Robyn give him a sideways glance.
“The one from the top of the cab.” Matthew explained.
Taron took a drink from his glass of water. “Just a little bit. Nothing too serious. Felt a bit sore.”
“Taron! You got straight back up onto the cab to continue filming. You never told me you had actually hurt yourself.”
“We had very little time left to get the scene shot.” Taron quietly spoke. “And I was fine after.” He prayed Robyn didn’t let it slip that she had worked the knots and tenderness from his shoulders with a perfect massage a few days after he got home from New York.
“You were lucky you didn’t hurt yourself.” Colin pipped in. “It was a nasty fall.”
“Hey if a bullet and shelf of candles can’t hurt me, then a fall from a cab has nothing on me.”
“Don’t even joke about that Taron.” Robyn said seriously. “I still carry the image of you laying in a pool of your own blood around with me. I don’t need one of you laying under a cab too.”
Taron moved a little closer to her and gave her a sideways hug. “I am not going anywhere.”
Robyn looked to Matthew. “You had better look after him on set. He is quite accident prone.”
“At least I know you are only two hours away.”
Robyn shook her head. “It’s not close enough if he has an accident.” She felt Taron give her waist a light rub.
“Don’t worry Robyn. This is not a stunt heavy movie.” Matthew assured her.
“So how many set stories did you get through?” Taron asked taking his arm from Robyn, but shuffling a little closer to her.
“Not too many.” Robyn replied looking at him from the corner of her eye.
Taron chuckled. “You know I don’t believe you and I should be privy to which ones you heard.”
“Mostly you falling over on set.”
“I am really not that clumsy at all.” Taron spoke up.
“I might have also heard about the face plant into the snow you made.”
“I was pushed!” Taron defended himself quickly. “And by Colin too!” Laugher filled the table and Taron pouted, sitting back in his chair with his arms folded. “The snow was down my shirt.”
Robyn chuckled before she took a drink from her glass, turning in her chair a little to face him. “You want to go and check out the buffet table?” She could read Taron so easily and didn’t want him to feel annoyed at his own after party, the slight slagging he was getting a little too much for his tired body to be dealing with, so she was happy to provide him with a quick distraction.
Even though his mood was frustrated for a moment, Robyn quickly found a way to make him smile and he nodded enthusiastically. “Yes please, food.” He got up from the table, moving around to stand in front of it, giving Robyn the room she needed to follow him.
“Best way to a man’s heart.” Colin chuckled, getting to feet. “And while you both go to have a midnight snack; I am going to retire for the night.” He came to stand beside Robyn and Taron at the edge of the table. “Robyn, it has been an absolute pleasure meeting you and getting to chat with you. Taron has so many wonderful words to say about you and I can only stand by what he had told me.” Colin leaned in to give Robyn a hug and kiss on her cheek. “Enjoy the rest of your evening.” He turned to Taron and shook his hand, bringing him in for his own hug. “Look after yourself. No more testing your limits.”
Taron nodded. “I will.”
With another quick goodbye, Colin made his way out of the bar and towards the exit, leaving Taron, Matthew and Robyn standing together.
“I think I am going to call it a night too. I have an early start tomorrow to get prepped for Monday.”
“You never stop do you?” Robyn said to him.
“Movie’s to make and trips to Belfast to look forward too.” He winked. Giving Robyn a hug. “It was lovely to see you again.” He turned to Taron, “You have two days to relax before we’re back to it.”
“PJ’s, movies and sitting on the couch for the next two days.” Taron assured Matthew; Robyn nodded enthusiastically beside him.
“Have fun you two. Don’t get into too much trouble.” Matthew laughed and walked away from them following in Colin’s footsteps towards the stairs.
Taron turned to Robyn. “So, you still want to have a wander to the buffet?”
“At least to have a look if you don’t mind. We can go if you are tired. I know it’s been a long day for you.”
Taron shook his head. “I want to see your face when you see the buffet.”
Robyn half smiled. “So, you are telling me there are no cocktail sausages at this buffet?”
Taron linked arms with Robyn and walked her back down the wooden floor to the opposite side of the bar, again saying hello to those who acknowledged him but didn’t stop to talk. He was quite looking forward to having a nibble or two from the buffet, his stomach rumbling quietly with the lack of food and nourishment over the last few hours. A long rectangular shaped table was nestled against the wall with a shimmering gold tablecloth laid across the table and on round plates were numerous kinds of tiny food samples. Himself and Robyn wandered from left to right down the table and Taron heard her sigh.
“What’s up?”
“No cocktail sausages.”
Taking to laughing, Taron picked up one small gold plate and taking some steps away from Robyn, picked up some two small pastries and put them on the plate.
“Here. Try this.” He handed her one of the golden-brown squares.
Without a second thought, Robyn popped the small pastry into her mouth and after a few seconds smiled. Wiping some crumbs from the corner of her lips she grinned. “Secret hidden cocktail sausages.” She took the plate from him and walked over to the table. “So, it is normal food but posh in exterior.”
“Something like that.”
They walked down the table, picking up a few little nibbles and Taron had to quickly dig his heels into the ground when Robyn stopped suddenly, his hands going to her shoulders. “Robyn!” He exclaimed but when he looked at what stopped her, he chuckled.
“Chocolate fountain! And it’s a white chocolate fountain!” Robyn quick walked towards a triangle shaped table neatly fitted in the corner which held all the deserts. “We should have started here!”
Robyn dropped her plate of savoury food onto the table and picked up a new plate immediately heading for the chocolate fountain, Taron right on her heels, munching on some cheese and crackers as he stood beside her, watching as she picked up a marshmallow on a stick and dipped it into the running chocolate, holding her hand over the dripping chocolate to eat the marshmallow off the stick straight away.
“Oh my God, so good.” Robyn picked up another marshmallow and held it under the melted chocolate. “Here, try this.” Holding her hand under the chocolate, she held the sweet treat out for Taron to eat.
His stomach churned in excited and nervous circles as he leant forward to eat the marshmallow Robyn held out for him, holding his hand over Robyn’s to keep the wooden stick steady at he pulled the marshmallow off with his teeth. As he chewed, Robyn licked the chocolate drops from the palm of her hand and he prayed she didn’t see his shoulders rise and fall with the deep calming breathe he took.
“I think I will skip the savoury and just stay here for the rest of the evening.” Robyn grinned as she picked up a strawberry and dripped into the chocolate, leaving the green stalk behind on her plate as she ate the fruit. She dipped more marshmallows and fruit into the chocolate and left them on her plate, knowing Taron was staring at her. “You want to say what you are dying to say?”
“Nothing at all.”
“Come on rocketman.”
“You just make me smile.”
Robyn grinned at him, as she ate another chocolate covered strawberry. “I like the simpler things in life.”
“Like a chocolate fountain.” He answered her back.
“A white chocolate fountain.” She corrected him. They choose a section of mini deserts, placing them on their second plate.
“Let’s head downstairs to get a comfier seat together.”
“Sure.”
Plates in hand, Robyn closely followed Taron down another set of gold and black stairs to the second level of the restaurant. Usually used as a busy restaurant, the red and cream tables had been pushed back to the edge of the grey wooden floor, matching chairs beside them. The cosy looking booths with dark grey diamond quilted furnishings, were occupied by those guests who were still enjoying the late afterparty and they gave a wave to Taron and Robyn as they walked by, heading for an empty booth near the back of the floor. The lights had been mostly dimmed and the bar in the centre of the floor illuminated gold light around the darkened room.
Once they reached the booth, they shuffled in together, Taron saying hello to those to the right of him sitting in the next seats.
“We should have stopped off at the bar to get some drinks.” Robyn said as she got comfortable on the soft seat.
“Hi there. Can I get you both anything to drink?” A server in a crisp white shirt and black tie came to stand in front of their table. “Our special cocktail of the evening is a Kingsman martini.”
Robyn felt her cheeks blush but then she grinned widely as she heard the name of the drink. “I will just have some water please.”
“I will have the same.” Taron said.
“Sure. I will be right back with those.”
Taron turned to Robyn, opening the buttons of his suit jacket as he got comfortable on the couch. “Shouldn’t you know how these thing work by now? We get served our drinks.”
“You would think I would have the hang of it by now but I guess not.” Robyn pulled the plate of sweet treats towards her while she pushed the savoury ones towards Taron. “You can have those. These are mine.”
Taron chuckled. “Do I need to tickle you to get my chocolate marshmallows?” With a grin. Robyn put the plate back onto the table, pushing it to him. “Didn’t think so.”
As they munched on bite sized snacks, the DJ hired for the evening who was set up on the first level started to play some music, starting off with some well-known popular songs before moving to song dance tracks. As Taron sat so comfortably in the booth, he felt a little sleepy but more so happy. The whole evening had been perfect, the premier a success and Robyn had been amazing as always. It was always so easy for him to slip into normal life in Ireland with Robyn, where they lazed on her couch or went for a walk with the dog but for her to mix into his life was always a little more complicated but it never phased Robyn and he just couldn’t love her more than he did in that moment as she took a drink from her glass and moved to settle back against the soft furnishings beside him.
“You know you can go and talk to those you know right? You don’t have to sit here with me.”
“I know but I am happy to sit here with you plus if I leave you alone you are going to get into mischief again or end up on the phone in a very lengthy conversation with Claire.”
“I don’t get into mischief.” Robyn pouted a little. “It just happens to me.”
Taron lightly laughed. “The same way you get me into trouble with little kisses.”
Robyn grinned. “I have never heard you complain.” She rubbed her right hand a little, feeling Taron take her hand in his.
“I haven’t once asked you how this hand is.” He frowned at himself as he ran his two thumbs very lightly over her bruised skin.
“Now that we are sitting and not really doing much, I can feel it aching but with the ongoing excitement, I haven’t really thought about it.” The motion of Taron’s thumbs was lovely on her hand. “I can definitely see a difference in the swelling since yesterday. It has gone down a lot.”
“Still sore though.”
“And will be for a long time.” Robyn’s head turned from Taron’s as she recognised the opening notes of LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem, a cheer going up from those around the bar, using the wooden floor and space as a dance floor. She looked to Taron with a big smile and nodded to the floor, taking her hand from his.
“Not a chance Robyn.” Taron grinned as she pouted at him, sticking out her lower lip. “No way.”
“Fine. I will go by myself then!”
Without waiting for an answer, Robyn slid out of the booth and turning to face Taron, winked his way and walked in time to the music onto the wooden floor and into the mix of people already up enjoying themselves. As the song got going and the crowd clapped in time to music Robyn joined in too, bopping up and down to the rhythm of the music, her eyes on Taron the whole time, laughing to herself as the music changed and she mouthed the words along with the track pointing to Taron who was trying his hardest not to smile back to at her. As the chorus came on once more, those on the floor started to clap and jump, Robyn mingling in with everyone, hopping around in circles her arms in the air. As the music chanted the words ‘every day I’m shuffling’, the crowd cheered and started to do their best shuffle around each other.
Taron found himself giggling at he watched Robyn laugh and dance around in circles, jumping and shuffling and it was one of the cutest things he had seen as she moved around without a care in the world, singing along loudly to the song with everyone else. He laughed loudly as her shuffle turned into a terrible robot dance and his cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling. His whole body was tired but Robyn’s excitement and energy was infectious and he joined her on the dance floor for the last chorus, jumping up and down along with her, even giving his own shuffle, the two dancing around each other as the song came to a natural end, the fast beat of the classic dance track merging into a much softer piano rift and Taron held his hands out to Robyn to take as Tiny Dancer played over the speakers.
Robyn didn’t hesitate to take Taron’s hands and their rhythmic dance soon became a very close slow one as she stepped into him, wrapping her hands around his neck as his went around her waist, her head naturally laying on his right shoulder as his nestled into hers.
“Think it was done on purpose?” He asked her as they gently swayed to the music.
“Nope. No one knows the significance of this song except me and you and maybe that paramedic in Florida and I doubt he is here.”
Others had coupled off too and it hadn’t gone un-noticed by Taron how his dance with Robyn was catching the eyes of those around him but he didn’t care one bit and as he took her hand to twirl her, Robyn tittering at his silly actions, he pulled her close once more, his lips in a full grin. Nuzzling into her neck again, Taron happily sighed, his hands resting on the warm bare skin of her back, his thumbs moving in gentle little circles on her skin, as Robyn’s hand snaked into the hair at the base of his neck.
Robyn closed her eyes and settled against his strong chest, knowing he wasn’t going to try to twirl her again, especially when she could feel him cuddle into her a little more and start to sing quietly into her shoulder. If her dancing hadn’t been so successful in getting him up to dance, she knew this song definitely would have and she was very grateful for the sudden slower playlist and coincidental song. It gave her an excuse to give Taron a hug without it being a very obvious hug, using the change in tempo for the song as a reason why.
Robyn sighed against him as another slow song was played and she chuckled as she felt herself being lifted off her feet a little by Taron before he broke their close position.
“Let’s dance.”
“We are dancing.”
“No let’s dance.” He held out his left hand and waited for Robyn to take it before his placed his right hand on her waist, tilting his head her way. “Come on chicken. Play along.” With a grin, Robyn put her left hand on his shoulder. “Sorry in advance if I stand on your foot but we should manage this. We both have rhythm, right?” Robyn nodded. “Follow my lead.”
It was a simple box step but Robyn caught on quickly to what Taron wanted to do with his feet and she followed his movement easily, twirling under his left arm and coming back into his body in time to the music as he danced them in a slow circle in spot. She was so aware of those around watching them but she didn’t care.
“This was the first dance we slow danced too.” She said to him after he had twirled her under his right arm, pulling her close into him. “Back in Aber on New Year’s. It is one of my favourite Madonna songs.” She chuckled as he doubled their tempo to the chorus, moving quickly before slowing right back down. “You are such a tosspot.”
Taron grinned. “You wanted to dance. I am dancing.”
“Sure.” Robyn let go his hand and threw her arms around his neck again, giving his cheek a little kiss before hugging him close and closing her eyes, feeling him wrap his arms around her too.
The song ended much too quickly for Taron and as another fast pace club song came on, they had to end their cosy cuddle. He was the first to let go and used both his hands to cover his mouth as he yawned, a long one that filtered through his whole body.
“You are knackered.” She rubbed his shoulders as he yawned again. When he took his arms down, she lifted his left arm so she could check his watch. “Yeah no wonder. It’s nearly half one. I think it is time we called it a night.”
“You don’t want to stay and dance?”
“I have had my fast dance and two slow dances. I also got marshmallows and chocolate. I am good.”
“No new celebrity friends though.”
“Meh, I have all I need right here in you. Also, I think Colin is my new friend.”
“Well that is true. I will just have to give Clive a call first though.”
“Sure.”
They walked back to the booth they were sitting in. Robyn stood while Taron stretched around to get her bag for her. Taking her hand, he walked her towards the stairs, saying goodnight to those they walked past and once up the first set of stairs, headed straight for the second set.
“Good night Mr Egerton, Miss Quinn. I hope you both had a nice evening.” The host who still stood at the top of the stairs greeted them.
“We did thank you.” Taron guided Robyn to the seats and they sat down at one of the tables. Once settled, he took out his phone and called Clive, the driver telling Taron he would be with them within ten minutes.
“That’s ok. I don’t mind waiting.” Robyn smiled to Taron as he passed the message on about the slight wait they would have to make.
With the doors open, there was a chill coming in from the late-night air and Robyn shivered though she tried to hide it, Taron saw the shudder her body made.
“Always cold.” He murmured as he opened the buttons on his jacket.
“Backless dress.” Robyn returned as he draped his jacket over her shoulders and she immediately felt warmed by the heat left on his jacket. She slipped her arms in and pulled it around herself. “Now you are going to be cold.”
“Two-piece suit and I could come and sit next to you, keep you warm.”
“With those photographer’s still lingering outside? Yeah, I don’t think so. Don’t need to be on page three.”
Taron chuckled. “Robyn…”
“Not that page three! Jesus Taron. The showbiz page three.”
Taron chuckled. “I know what you meant chicken.”
Robyn pulled his jacket tighter around her, a smile on her face. “Men.” She whispered.
“What was that?” Taron asked, his lips in a half grin.
“You’re going to be frozen.” She quickly said. “A two-piece suit is not very warm.”
“You sure that was it?”
“Of course.” Robyn reached over the table to take his hands. “Don’t want you getting sick.”
Taron grinned. “Sure chicken.”

Life After Snowpiercer: Tell Me, Please?
Summary- Curtis Everett x Y/N. Tensions are still there between you two, but Curtis demands an answer. Your group collects the last bit of supplies and makes it towards the front, only to be confronted at the end. Trauma, Some Violence. Word Count- 4.9k
Chapter 7 / Masterlist
Curtis watched you sleep, in sleep you relaxed yourself from whatever plagued you, during the night having pulled in half sprawled across his very sore ribs, and laid your head in the center. The rise and fall of your shoulders so slight that he would have to really be studying them to see that yes, you were still asleep. You faced away from him, but you sighed softly and shifted yourself, tilting yourself closer, his eyes able to rove over the curve of your nose, and how your lips have chapped slightly. The dark bruises under your eye, at first it would see to have been tiredness, but much to the anger he was feeling coil in his gut, someone must have hit you hard at some point the past few days. His eyes continued to rove, noticing other scrapes, and bruises along your scalp line. Would you tell him though? Further he noticed that there was a cut in the corner of your mouth and without a thought, his fingers brushed along the mark, hissing to himself when your eyes shot open, unfocused and a touch of fear clouding them. In all the years you two have known each other, you never looked at him like that, and it phased him more then you could know.
You were fallen in one of those dreamless deep sleeps, the kind where your cocooned in darkness and nothing is drawing you forward into images. Blackness, soothing blackness. There was no visual moments where you had to think and rationalize. It was peaceful. Things merely ceased to exist.
A touch brought you back, so light but the sting it left near your lips brought it back and you tensed, ready to yank away when your eyes opened, prepared for the worst, that sneering grin reaching for you in your safe place, ready to drag you out and put vile pain all over your body. No, we escaped, we got out.
Curtis face sharpened second later in your view, and you softened, loosening your grasp in his jacket where you had fisted your hands to keep from being pulled away. See Y/N, your safe. This is home. Curtis hand slid from your mouth to brush aside the soft hairs curling over your cheek, and you dragged in a deep breath, and released it, feeling your chest expand and his steady heart beating underneath your cheek kept you grounded. “Bad dream?” Curtis asked after a few seconds of the two of you just staying silent. You quirk the corner of your mouth a bit “Nothing serious Curtis.” Your hand smoothed over his chest and you realzined where you were laying. “Shit sorry baby, your ribs.” Going to move his hand clasped on the back of your neck to keep you from moving.
“Dont, they are fine. Tell me about what you were dreaming about?” Hoping she would relax enough just the two of them to talk about what you were thinking about. His grasp turned lighter now that you werent moving, sliding his thumb over the column, and you slightly relaxed once more, biting your already chapped lips and wincing slightly at the sting.
“Yea, I saw you favoring your side Curtis” You informed him, but you didnt move. Honestly after the past few days, you were just fucking thankful you got to do this again. “And nothing, hell I think I was so damn tired, it wasnt sleep. Somewhere just before a coma.” You rub your face lightly against his chest and sigh. “I could slip back into it right now if we didnt have to prepare to move to the front.” His thumb continued to feather along your neck, circling over the bruises of fingertips that had pressed down to hard. Faint, but Curtis saw them better now that your hair wasnt covering them.
“What happened Y/N?” his brows coming together and lifting the heaviness of your hair back from your neck. You then pulled away and straightened your hair back over your neck. He shifted to half sit up on his elbows. “Y/N, you gotta tell me who put hands on you?-” His inquiry got interrupted when your name got called, and you took the moment to avoid Curtis questions, calling back out. “In here!” Tugging on your jacket and looking at Curtis “We will talk about it later baby, promise.” His hand moved against your arm to keep you with him, but you slipped out of his hold. Leaving him there with more questions and no answers. His lips thinned tightly and his jaw clenched, a dark suspicion inkling its way into his thoughts.
All of those fuckers are dead. His thoughts snapped as he snatched his jacket, trying to keep from blowing over. Im going to hunt every single on of them down. It was the last thing you needed was him loosing his temper, but that didnt stop the rage building in his chest, or the guilt. Why didnt I leave them with protection? Gone back, brought them weapons... Hearing your footsteps descend away, Curtis knew that you were heading towards the wounded. Grasping his beanie, and leaving the warmth and comfort of the momentary home, and slipped it on. Now that it was day, he could see just how far the group had been able to do. They had gone through several cars and hauled out anything decent. Catching a glimpse of you leaning down to check Saras shoulder, you also caught sight of Edgar sitting up, and a box next to him, stuffing something into his mouth.
“Is that... crackers?” Curtis asked as Edgar held his arm out to grasp and get up. With some effort, Edgar managed to get to a stand, hauling the beat up cracker box with him. “Yea, they found a bit of this kind of stuff a few cars up. Dried goods, flour, sugar, cans.” He held out the box for Curtis to reach his hand into and withdrew a few crackers that he took a bite of. It was stale as fuck, salty, and just about one of the best things he can remember ever having.
“Yes, I remember passing through right after the water, supplies Im assuming for the rest of the train. There was a few more similar closer to thre front as well” Curtis mentioned, and Edgar nodded over to where a pile of food had been made, along with clothing and blankets. “Im sure the front survivors have already raided some of those others.” Maybe they will be okay until were able to figure out a more permanent solution. “Hows your back?” Curtis turned his attention away from the supplies, and Edgar turned, lifting his shirt enough so Curtis could see. The length of the actual stab looked to be a good three inches long, red all around. Although burned from where the ax blade had laid across it, it was sealed. You came on over just then and ducked around Curtis, getting in for a closer look.
“Thank God they got it sealed” You breathed out and tugged on Edgars shirt to have him put it back down, when he turned to face you, you drew in close and hugged around his neck. “You punk, I told you to be careful” Curtis cast a downward glance, regret and guilt passing and Edgar shook his head lightly Dont... You never saw the exchange pass between the two men. “Yea well, when I ever bloody listen anyways?” Edgar withdrew and smirked at you, causing you to scowl at him.
“Well Im back now, so your gonna.” You point a finger at him, and then smooth your hand against his arm in a loving gesture.
“Are the people able to travel? Or do they still need some recovery time?” Curtis changing the subject from Edgar, his hand rested against your waist, and it felt heavy to you, like he wasnt ready to let you go, that you were actually with him. He must have really believed he wouldnt see me again.
“If we go slow, Im sure we can. Everyones so exhausted though, another day might not hurt anyone.” You tip your head towards Edgar and he immediately rebutes it although you ignore him. “Sara, shes bad off. Its inflamed and im worried I might not have gotten everything out. It was hard to tell...” You drifted off as Curtis took a glance at the woman you were talking about. Seeing her huddled against the wall, head tipped forward. “She says she can travel, but she will need to stop alot.”
That confirmed it for Curtis, he shook his head. “Then we stay, one more day.”
The rest of the time was spent sorting through supplies, packing it in a way it could be carried. Outside fires were kept stroked and burning, using debris off the train, and someone found large hollowed metal bins that with some scrubbing could work to melt snow in. The idea of being able to wash up appealed to you, and once you were sure the others waters needs were met hours later, you worked on warming up a pot for yourself. One of the cars towards the back had side rooms available for actual privacy, and you planned on taking full advantage.
You didnt need much and using a blanket to handle the hot container, you hauled your bit of hot water through the car to the end, slipping inside. Of course Curtis noticed from where he had been helping to pack up the dried goods in blankets to easier carry them, and he turned to Edgar “Get as much packed as possible, if we have to we will come back for the rest.”
“Yea, sure... where you going?” He asked as Curtis moved away from the group, calling over his shoulder.
“Got someone to take care of” Edgar just shrugged and went back to what he was doing.
You were in the process of undressing, when a soft knock happened on the door. Squeaking in alarm, you say loudly so there was no denying that whomever heard you. “Occupied!”
“I know, Im coming in.” Curtis said as he opened the door and you withdrew from sight, looking to grab your shirt and cover yourself.
“Curtis! Im busy” In which he just arched a brow and shut the door behind him, okay lame on your part, not much was kept hidden in the tail end and youve never been super shy before with him. Your fingers played in the shirt, looking down and away from where he stood. It was thankfully darkish in the room, you felt better being somewhat hidden, not wanting that question you know was coming.
Just seeing you react, he knew. He could see it all over your face that you were dealing with a heavy mix of emotions, but the one he saw the most was shame, and he couldnt for the life of him understand why. How he wanted to go and wrap you in against him, take away all of those memories and protect you better, I should have... fuck why didnt I leave people behind. “Y/N, Baby, I know something happened. Please tell me. You were scared this morning, and youve been avoiding me. I-” he sighed and took a cautionary step closer, and could see the glimmer of tears streaking down your face. “- just got you back. I cant loose you again, especially like this.” His voice lowered, gruffer, you could tell he was trying to keep himself in check.
Standing there, trying not to let him see you, how you wish you could shrink away into the wall. You tried so hard to fight back and just werent strong enough, spit it out you scolded yourself, but you stayed silent, lifting your face to look at him and dropped your shirt. Curtis took an audible gasp at the bruising that littered your body, your pale skin dark and yellowed with discernible finger and hand prints. Covering your face in your shame. “Oh god, Im sorry Curtis, I tried to stop them.”
What?! Oh babygirl, no....He stepped forward and wrapped his hands gently around your wrists and pulled them away. “Babygirl sshhh.... Im not mad at you.” You blinked up at him with that wide eyed stare of yours and then pushed in against him, sobbing into his chest and he lowered the two of you to the floor, careful to keep you in his lap, and rocking you softly. The pain blossomed in his chest at what you were saying, the way your whole body sobbed into his, and he let you. Nothing but the soft swaying motion, like one would do for a child, and his chin rested atop your head as it was buried in against him. There were no words he could say at this moment to make it better, you had to be able to simply cry it out until you were ready to tell him what happened. But even now, he could see the bruises down your back. When I get my hands on them, all those fuckers are going to pay. Oh it wasnt an If, Curtis was all about When. He wouldnt stop till he had his hands on there throats, squeezing the last breath from there lungs.
You finally fell silent in his arms, a occasional body rocking hiccup stirring from you, but that was all you had. His hand came up to your face and gently brushed aside the hair that had gotten stuck to your face from the tears, looking down at you with a soft expression. “sorry” you hiccup out and it seems to be the only thing you can think to say.
“Babygirl, they are the ones who will be sorry.” he shifted you a bit so you werent so folded up, letting his hand rest against your knee and his thumb sweeping over it gently. “The fact they touched you will make them regret everything they have done in life. Im going to see to it personally.” You gulped a bit listening to him, the promise in his face, the rage simmering in his eyes, it was all there. You were just thankful it wasnt directed at you, cause even now it was scaring you. And in the same breath, it blossomed a warm raging happiness in your chest, spiraling in a way that made you shake slightly. They would hurt to, not just for what they did to you, but you were sure that others suffered a similar fate that day.
He leaned forward and dipped his fingers into the water, finding it still warm. “How about we clean you up Babygirl? and then go get you something to eat. I know you havent had anything today.” You slowly unfold yourself from around him and Curtis takes the rag, dipping it in the water and wringing it out. He holds his hand out for you to take it, but you turn instead your back to him, reaching behind you to gather your hair and lift it off your neck. You trusted him, you knew his touch would be gentle and caring along your bruises, and it was an intimacy you desired to share with him. Dipping your head when you felt the cloth brush over your shoulder, sure enough he was gentle as it went down your back and over your hip, continuing downwards, he squatted down to do the back of her thighs and calves. “Face me Y/N” he said, giving the softest brush of a kiss against a tender looking spot on your hip. You twisted to face him as he rose up to start from your shoulders and down again.
The riddled marks on your body, now fully seeing what you had been through destroyed a sane part of Curtis, he never wanted to kill anyone more then these men, not even Wilford for all the evilness he had done. There was just a few on your back, careful as he traced over them. You must have fallen from up high, or they took a boot to you. Having you turn for him, he make his way down in a similar fashion. The worst bruises seemed to be on your hips and inside of your thighs, and to see them in such a intimate spot. It was his spot to rest his hands whenever he held you, not anyone elses, and it hurt him that you had to bare such marks. They actually made him growl softly and he was caught by surprise when you cupped his face, running your fingers through his beard. Focus Curtis... He chided himself as he continued with your legs and then swept up the inside of your calves and thighs, this time placing a soft kiss on your belly button and back up to a stand.
This time when he offered you the rag you took it, to finish up, and you thought about what had transpired. Now Curtis had seen all of what they had done, and getting dressed again, you thought about what he had seen and his reaction. It was foolish for me to think he would be mad at me. Sometimes theres no rational reason for your reactions. He remained silent as he handed you clothing, slipping them on a piece at a time. Grasping your coat, he held it up for you and you backed into it, sliding your arms in one at a time. Before you could start to button it up, he turned you back to face him, doing the buttons himself, smiling softly. “You always have a hard time with these babygirl”
“I know, you would think after all this time I wouldnt need your help doing them up.” You chuckled softly at them, all different mismatched sizes, not quite placed right. You could patch a person up, but damned if you could sew decently.
“Well, let me tell you babygirl, Im glad you still need me to do this.” He finished up the last one, and lifted his hand up to cup your face, cradling it in both hands, his thumbs brushing along the softness of your cheeks, the soft downy hairs brushing under the pad of his thumb. Your hands folded over his wrists while looking up at him. “Y/N, nothing, certainly not this changes anything between us. So whatever you think would drive me away, its not going to happen.” He wouldnt break his eyes from yours, needing you to know just how serious he was.
“I know... I- I panicked. I felt that what happened, I should have stopped it.” You admitted, and took a deep breath, ragged from earlier, but no tears sprang forth talking about it. Curtis had been correct in you needing that release, a cleanse. Maybe now this was the beginning of coming to terms with it. Keeping his darker thoughts to himself that throbbed in his temples, as you gave a brief description of what happened, this would be a trial and error for you two, Curtis not wanting to push you in a way you werent ready, and you craving the exact same vibe you two had before. It would take time, to heal. Curtis isnt going anywhere....
Leading you out of the room, he carried the water, and you followed along behind, your hand fisting in the loose part of his jacket. You lighten considerably he noticed once you joined the group, immediately falling back into old habits of stopping and chatting with groups, looking over those you considered your patients, and falling right back into playing with the kids for the rest of the evening, you even made an effort to eat a can of beans that Curtis pried open for you, sharing with the kids you went to hang out with. There wasnt much difference in how you were as from before, and he gave you your freedom, sticking nearby with Edgar, first finishing there earlier project, then Curtis finished his tale of what had happened.
“You mean Matt is actually still alive?!” Edgar remembered the boy well, back then. Looked up to him, almost like a brother. Curtis nodded.
“Yes, and dumbass me left them tied up in the engine. Im sure they have been released now. I tried telling Y/N what hes like... hes dangerous. If he comes around her, I dont know... watch him extra close. She wouldn't forgive me if I hurt him.” A glance over to you showed you laughing while playing itsy bitsy spider with one of the smaller children, cuddling them in your lap while you twisted your fingers to go up the pole, and then sprinkle your fingers down to tickle the youngin’ on the neck.
“Curtis, maybe it wont come to something like that, Y/N is a pretty good judge of people... Im sure she will see how twisted he is.”
Curtis shrugged, he hoped so. But this was her brother, she loved this kid more then anyone else on the train, and he almost lost her then. If she gets her heart broken again, forcing her to give a damn might not be so easy. Making her choose between Matt and Himself, he didnt want to put her in that spot, maybe a bit of fear stabbing at the back of his unconscious, would she pick him if she was forced between them? “We will see probably tomorrow afternoon. I want to get us out of here and back to the front, before they decide they dont need us, and have basically the majority of the supplies once more. Were not equipped enough to survive out there and eventually were going to have to move away from the train for food. Most the cars up there are still upright and can be used for shelter.”
You looked up to see Curtis and Edgar deep in a discussion, and you untangle yourself from the kids. “Bedtime for all of us. Tomorrow were going to the front.”
“The front?!”
“For reals this time”
“wonder what its like?”
“I dont know” You shrug “We just gotta wait and see tomorrow, now off to bed.” You shooed them away to a nest of blankets they made for themselves, and wandered over to Curtis. “Im heading off to sleep, see you all in the morning.” You waved off to the group. Curtis gave you a few minutes to get yourself ready and then excused himself as well.
When he got there you were already curled under the blankets, just a soft pile of your hair showing above the blankets. He shredded out of the majority of his clothing and slipped in beside you, thinking you was already asleep, but surprising him as you flipped to her other side, starting at him in the dark.
“I love you, thank you for coming back for me.”
“I will always come back for you, I love you to babygirl.” Curtis declared, and you moved over closer and lifted his arm to go around you, your head resting on his shoulder, and your hand slid under his shirt and rubbed your hands across the all familiar soft hairs and broad muscles of his chest, settling over where you could feel that familiar thump of life. This was familiar, comforting, and relaxed into this. The past 36 hours was your hell, and this was your salvation. You actually fell asleep and this time you dreamed, not of what happened, but what was to come.
The next morning proved to be busy chaos. After taking a few moments to wake up, Curtis was never one to just roll up and go unless necessary, usually proving him to be rougher around the edges, well more so then usual with the upcoming unknown going back to the front now with the tail enders. “Get up, time to get a move on.” he rumbled, the toe of his boot nudging people as he passed through the group, Edgar grumbling and flipping him off as he to got a toe to the leg and a “Get the fuck up, we dont got all day.”
You rubbed your eyes and snorted in laughter at the grumblings you heard through the crowd, although they complied. You helped hand off sacks of food that they all packed in blankets the day before and you went to your patients, checking them over right quick. The only person you were really concerned for was Sara. If anything she looked paler then the day before. But her wound was still firey red. Biting the inside of your cheek, you smiled, and helped her up. “Dont hesitate to ask for help, I wont be far off” You stress to her till Sara gives a nod and Johanna wraps an arm around her. “Dont worry, we got her.”
Maybe it will all be okay.
The group filed out, Curtis again taking up the rear, watching for any sign of the aggressors from the day before, he had skimmed over the cliff edge, and checked out the path back up, but found no signs. Maybe the fuckers are gone.... He wistfully considered, as he trudged along behind, holding a rifle over his shoulder and in his hands a heavy axe was kept close. In any hand to hand fight, he would rather have the axe on hand instead of the rifle. You made your way back through the crowd and fell in step with him, looking over your shoulder, it seemed like the train was an endless line of cars. You all must be getting close.
“Theres so many to sort through still.” Talking about the cars, Curtis grunted in agreement, glancing down at you. “Well I wouldnt bother with any holding people, all the stuff we need is in those storage ones. Im just hoping the front end had the sense to get into the livestock cars and save anything that survived.” You blinked a bit in surprise, you never actually thought there would be any kind of livestock on the train, the front end having stopped giving the boiled eggs a few years ago.
“Like... chickens and such?”
“Chickens, pigs, some beef cows, couple of those your supposed to milk and all. Yes, had them all. Plus at least 2 cars filled with frozen butchered meat, a large green house cart. The front end didnt have our struggles, that is for damn sure.”
Fuck when was the last time you had a roasted chicken? Steak? Your mouth literally watered at the idea of it.
“No they certainly didnt.”
A few moments of silence between them, the occasional brush of shoulders as Curtis shortened his stride matching your, the change in it made you hide a smile, looking down. You were sure he didnt intend on you to notice and it just resolved in you what you already knew about him. He would always look out for you. Your shared silence was interrupted by a shout as the group started to bunch up and come to a halt. “Curtis Everett to the front, I know your leading this mess.”
Curtis then picked up his pace, you following behind him closely as he weaved through the people milling into a group and coming out in the front. You were about to follow alongside him but Edgar caught the back of your coat, keeping you back slightly and thats when you saw what was before you.
Heavily armed group of people, waiting and they parted as a man and Claude came through. The smirk on the mans face shined right into his eyes, so fucking cold, and you felt your heart sink in your stomach. It really was Matt, just as Curtis described it.
“Well we knew you would come back Curtis.” His arms folded over his chest, as he surveyed the people behind Curtis. “And brought your little rag tag mess of people.” Matt turned his attention to those that started to line up around Curtis, assessing the threat before them. “You might as well just join us everyone, there really is no better answer. You may have the numbers, but we have the supplies, and that includes the rifles.” Matt looked up and down his line of people, smug, satisfied, he won. “So you might as well give up, well before this has to turn ugly Curtis, I mean... We are in this mess cause of you after all.” Claude hung on Matts arm, but he pulled it away and took a step forward till he was standing before Curtis, who glared down at him. “So what do you say tail ender? I clearly won.”
“Matt!” You yanked your arm from Edgar and snapped up right in his face, inches away, anger rolling off you in steams. “What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Curtis arm shot out and grabbed you by the arm, pulling you back to him, not trusting Matt to not hurt you physically. You pulled on your arm, but Curtis grasp was iron and unrelenting. “You are our family, how DARE you even speak like that, after all we been through to get up here.”
“Yea Sister” He said with such venom in his tone, your mouth snapped shut, jaw clenching in your anger and confusion. “All we been through, you had if just fine in the tail end, but not good enough, sending your man up here to wreck it all, correct?”
That was the last line when Curtis fist connected with Matts face, his head snapping back sharply.
Curtis could tolerate alot of things, your brother disrespecting you clearly wasnt one of them.
Fuck it all.

"Oh dear god, the rumors are actually true."
I blinked over at Frozone. "What rumors?" I asked as I bent forward over the countertop towards the little girl with short black hair tied up in adorable pigtails, handing her an ice cream cone that was almost as big as she was.
He facepalmed, dragging his hands down his face to give me a deadpan look between his fingers. "Are you seriously dating the pizza guy?"
My shoulders tensed momentarily before I gave a nervous chuckle, holding my hand out to my tiny customer so I could receive her tip since she was too short to reach the jar. "Why do you ask?" I avoided his gaze, instead electing to sift through the small treasure pile now in my palm. Besides the assorted change, there was a smooth pebble, a shiny paperclip, and a crumpled up business card I assumed belonged to the kid's dad who she was scurrying back over to now. He was a big hairy guy standing off to one side in a garish blue suit with purple polka dots. The name on the card read James P Sully and he hailed from a company called Doors-R-Us, which I believed was a hardware store located somewhere else in the mall.
Out of the corner of my eye, I watched Frozone wordlessly point across the way. As I dropped the munny into the jar and tossed the rest, I looked to the Pizza Planet and I had to quash the urge to facepalm myself. Lea was bouncing around behind the counter there, not so subtly alternating back and forth between blowing me kisses and holding his hands up over his head in the shape of a heart.
"Yup," I sighed, closing my eyes and pressing my fingertips between my eyebrows, "that idiot over there would be my boyfriend alright."
It'd been a few days now since the group date. There hadn't been any further outings, not of that magnitude at least, but Lea and I had been taking our lunches together if they lined up as well as making other small public appearances together wherever else we could to keep the act up. I was finally getting to the point where I was more used to all the hand holding and hugs so they no longer fazed me, not outwardly at least. The little flutters my heart would give were another matter, but at least those were easy enough to conceal and keep to myself. His kisses, on the other hand, continued to be a work in progress, often still causing my brain to experience a temporary hiccup in functionality. But I liked to think I was getting better about that too, just more slowly. I still hadn't made any progress in the initiating-PDA-myself department, but I just needed more time. I was working up to it, I swear! I'd get there. Maybe today even. Perhaps… Possibly… Hopefully? ...unlikely. Ugh.
Lea himself had been enthusiastically taking on the task of leaving no doubt in anyone's minds that we were now a couple. In fact, this was not the first time he'd been brazenly sending me air kisses and hearts across the food court. Just the first time Frozone had caught him doing it.
"But why?" Frozone shook his head, looking genuinely confused. "I thought you two weren't even getting along. I mean, after the incident on your first day of work and all that weirdness in the weeks after…"
"Actually, we were dating before all that. Even before I started working here," I said quickly. Not that that helped clear things up for my coworker. Like… at all. But hey, I had a story to maintain. As his brow only wrinkled further at me, I winced. "It's… complicated."
He held his hands up, "You know what? I've decided I don't even care. As long as you don't let it interfere with your work, you do you, girl."
"Oh it won't! I promise! You can count on me," I reassured him, plastering on a smile. From my peripheral, I could see Lea was still at it with no sign of slowing down. If anything, he only seemed to be getting more spirited about it. To Frozone, I said with every ounce of dignity I could summon, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a very important and totally work-related text to make on my phone right now that in no way, shape, or form has anything to do with…" I gestured a hand gingerly towards the Pizza Planet, "that over there."
"...uh-huh," he said flatly, turning away to assist another customer.
Hastily fishing my phone out of my skirt pocket, I brought up my texts, tapping on a certain name before my thumbs were blurring across the screen.
Quit it, you're making a fool of yourself.
I narrowed my eyes up at him as I hit send and he froze mid gesticulation, looking down at one pocket of his pants. Then I watched as he dug his own phone out, read my message and smirked before his fingers were on the move. There was a buzz in my hands and I looked down at the screen.
1st of all, when hz that ever stopped me b4?
Well he had me there.
2nd of all, u thought all that was 4 u? Plz, all that luv was directed mr studmuffin ovr there
I squinted one eye at the words before looking back up at him. He was now waggling his eyebrows as he pointed to my left and I realized he meant Frozone. The man in question was looking between us as he rang up an order, his eyelids drooping. "Do I even want to know?"
I snorted, biting back a grin. "No, I really don't think you do," I told him, tapping away at my keyboard again.
Dork.
Lea was now typing something back one handed, using the other to wave off Xion as she tried to get his attention.
U know it. What time u off?
I checked the clock on my phone before replying.
10 more minutes.
Xion was beginning to look frustrated over there as she more urgently tugged on his sleeve. Lea just smothered her face with his free hand, lightly shoving her away while he remained focused on his phone.
Perfect me 2. Dont go NEwhere without me, we got plans ;)
My head tipped to one side.
We do?
Xion huffed, stomping away to grab a giant slab of pizza dough and balling it up in her hands as she gave Lea the evil eye. He continued to remain blissfully unaware.

Apparently his fingers had slipped followed by accidentally hitting send as that ball of dough smacked him square in the jaw, courtesy of Xion's pitching arm. And strong arm at that, for it was enough to knock him straight off his feet and send him disappearing below the counter. She razzed her tongue at him, dragging her left lower eyelid down with a finger. Then she paled and squeaked, bolting into the back room when a scowling Lea pulled himself back up, half his face dusted with flour now and one eye twitching as he stalked after her. I just laughed softly, turning my attention to a new customer that had just approached my register.
A few minutes later found me clocked out and standing in the food court, scrolling on my phone while I waited. I was still in my work attire, including of course a pair of glorious, blessed stockings (of the snowman-print variety) because never ever again would be the day I'd go without. My hair was still pulled back into a ponytail, but I'd tucked away the Ice Palace cap into my bag.
"Ah, there ya are!" I felt Lea's arm slip around my shoulders and his hand cup the side of my head, bending it towards him so he could press a kiss into my hair. He grinned down at me, "How is my lil lekker stroopwafel this fine day?"
I blinked up at him. He was still in his work clothes too, sans apron and visor. Pocketing my phone, I echoed, "...lekker stroopwafel?"
"It's Dutch. It means you're my lil delicious waffle," he cooed and planted a swift peck to my cheek, which I squeezed one eye shut against.
Face warming, I gave him a blank look. "Do I even have to say it?"
He pouted, "Aw man, really? Overruled? Crap, I'd thought you'd like that one too. Guess it's back to the ol' drawing board." He started walking, the arm still hugging my shoulders pulling me along with him.
Shaking my head at him with a tiny smile, I asked, "So what are these plans we have?"
Holding an index finger up to his lips, Lea winked at me. "It's a surprise."
I quirked an eyebrow and frowned thoughtfully. "...is it the clocktower again?"
"Pft, like I'd do the same thing twice. What a lame-ass surprise that'd be. What kinda uninspired oaf do you take me for? Gotta keep things new! Fresh!" he chuckled as he moved us along, keeping our pace brisk. "And bonus, it's good for the masses to see the two of us out and about like this. Keeps us in the public eye and people talking about what a freaking adorable couple we make. Stop here."
"Wha-?" I was cut off as he suddenly swept me around, pointing me at the Bippity Boppity Boo formalwear shop. However, I got the feeling that he wasn't so much facing me towards it specifically as he was more so facing me away from something else.
Standing in front of me now, he brushed a hand down over my sight. "Close your eyes please. No peeking now."
As soon as he removed his palm, my eyes snapped open again, "But what are you-"
"I said no peeking," he laughed, his hand gently sliding my eyes shut again. "You'll see soon enough, 'kay?"
"Fine," I puffed out a breath, crossing my arms and doing as I was told this time.
A shadow flickered over my eyelids - I think he was waving his hand in front of my face. Then I heard his footsteps walking past me, followed by him asking, "You got it?"
"Right here!" a friendly female voice I didn't recognize responded.
"Perfect! Thanks, you're an angel, this world isn't worthy of your pure divinity," he said back, to which she just gave a warm chuckle. Then I heard the tip-tap of Lea's shoes again, could feel him hovering just behind me now. When he spoke, his voice was right next to my ear, "Alright, you can open 'em now."
I did, discovering he'd looped his arm around to hold something up in front of my nose. A flower. Two of them actually, blooming from one stem, both white and delicate and with fuzzy sprigs of yellow sprouting out the centers.
"...winter honeysuckle?" I said quietly, carefully taking it from him.
His head still beside mine, I felt him nod, "Mm-hm! It's your favorite, right?"
I turned to look at him as he straightened up now. "How did you know?"
"Asked Raindrop," he grinned, shoving his hands into his pockets with a shrug and not yet taking a step back, remaining real close.
"Thank you," I murmured, bringing it up to my nose with a soft inhale. "I'm surprised it's blooming this time of year."
"That's Aerith for you. The Greenthumb Goddess," he tossed his head back towards the flower kiosk behind him and in particular at the woman running it. I recognized her from last time I'd walked past here, her big pink bow hard to forget. She just smiled at me, green eyes dancing as she waggled her fingers in a tiny wave.
I returned the smile and wave before setting my gaze on Lea once more. "Is this the surprise?"
"Are you kidding? Please, this is just the opening act. C'mon," he slipped his hand into mine and gently tugged me into a walk once more.
"But what's it for? Is there some sort of special occasion?" I frowned down at the plant, twirling it between my fingertips as I racked my brain, trying to come up with the answer myself but drawing a blank.
"Whaddya mean, what's it for?" he snorted as we passed an Olympus Gym with floor-to-ceiling windows, through which could be spotted a squat, bald, grumpy looking fellow that appeared to be training a chiseled, golden-haired Adonis who could be a strong contender for the Mr Universe title. Pulling me onto an escalator, Lea continued, "I just wanted to give ya something you'd like."
We slowly rose up to the second level, a Blitzball Sports shop and a Glass Slipper shoe store gliding by before disappearing beneath us on the floor below. A crease formed between my eyebrows. "But why?"
He blinked at me, then chuckled and ruffled his fingers through his hair. "Just cuz! What, does a boyfriend hafta have a reason to give his girlfriend lil gifts every now and again? Jeez, ya act like you never-" he froze, eyes widening. The back of his foot hit the top of the escalator, catching him off guard and he stumbled, but managed to remain upright before looking back at me horrified. "Wait. Please, please don't tell me your royal dumbass of an ex never gave you any flowers."
I stepped off the moving stairs after him, looking away with a tiny huff. "Yes, of course he would. Big bouquets, in fact, full of a whole variety of blooms. They were actually quite lovely… but…" I raised the flowers up to my nose once more, hiding my small grimace behind them. "...well, there was just always a reason… an event or something. Just because etiquette would demand it. And they were never winter honeysuckles. I don't think he even knew they were my favorite. He never… asked…"
Lea pinched the bridge of his nose with a grumbling sigh. "This guy sounds more n' more like a total tool with each new thing I hear about him. Ugh, forget him," he brightened, linking our hands together once more, leading us onward.
We passed a magic shop bearing a glittery sign that read Sorcerer's Apprentice, inside which were two old dudes, each with beards more ridiculously long and grey than the last, plus a younger blonde gentleman with a goatee and several piercings, his hands shuffling what was most likely a trick deck of playing cards. Neighboring that establishment was the Blue Sitar, a musical instrument store with some guy snoozing behind the counter, his hair at war with itself, not quite sure whether it was a mohawk or a mullet.
My attention was drawn back to Lea as he chimed in once more, "Besides, we have way more important concerns to be thinking about." He turned his head to the right and his eyes lit up. "Like puppies!"
"Pup-?" the word was swallowed in a gasp as he dragged me into a run towards a store dubbed 101 Spots. A pet store, to be exact, as I quickly learned when we passed through its doors and my ears were greeted with a chaotic chorus of woofs, meows, and chirps. Both eyebrows shot up my forehead as I glanced around, "...is this the surprise?"
"Nah, this is just a detour," he chuckled, releasing my hand to squat down and reach forward, fingers beckoning towards a dalmation near the cashier counter. The dog's ears perked up curiously for a second, then it gave an excited bark and barreled into his arms, nearly toppling Lea to the ground. It seemed the two were already old pals, if the way the canine's tail thumped against the carpet was any indication.
I tilted my head. "For puppies?"
"Well yeah! Always detour for puppies! Isn't that right, Mr Slobber-Drool-Face? Yes it is!" he squished the dalmation's face between his hands, using his baby-talk voice as it responded by enthusiastically giving him doggie-kisses.
Oh dear. Lea liked dogs.
"Is that the spot right there, buddy?" he asked as his four-legged friend flopped onto its back expectantly and Lea obliged, both hands giving vigorous belly scritches. "Oh yeah, that's definitely the spot! Woojy-woojy-woo!"
Like… really, really liked dogs.
My crush was soaring to dangerous new heights.
Clearing my throat, I tucked my flower into my bag, leaving the petals poking out the top so they didn't get smashed. Then I kneeled down beside him so I could reach down and scratch behind the dog's ear. It lapped at my palm and I grinned. "You looking to take this one home?"
"That's Pongo," a new voice spoke up. I looked up to see the woman with blonde hair done up into a bun smiling at me from behind the counter. Anita, or so her nametag boasted. "And he's not for sale. He and Perdita," she looked fondly down at a second dalmatian sleeping nearby, "belong to my husband and me. Perdita will be having puppies soon though, so you may want to check back in a few weeks."
"I like to stop in and give Pongo and all the other puppers here some wub whenever I can," Lea cooed, playfully wrastling the dog into a hug.
My eyes crinkled as I watched him play with the pooch for another minute, then I stood up once more, deciding to take a look around. I meandered slowly, reaching into the low pens as I passed by to give quick pats to dogs, cats, and bunnies, running my fingers lightly along the bars of bird cages as their occupants quizzically cocked their feathered heads at me before I moved on.
Finally I came to a stop in front of the puppy pen. And I didn't mean that in the same way Lea did, who seemed to call everything that barked and ran on all fours a puppy, regardless of the animal's true age. These were actual puppies. There were a bunch of children on the other side of the pen that had gathered most of the puppies into a joyful frenzy over there. However, there was one that was staying back, ears at attention as it sat on its haunches and stoically watched the others frolic. Put quite simply, it was a pure ball of fluff, white and poofy. It had to be more fur than dog.
"Hey there little guy," I murmured, getting its attention as I bent down over the enclosure. It backed up a step, lowering into a crouch and giving the hand I offered it a tiny growl, which was more cute than threatening. "It's alright," I soothed patiently, still holding out my hand. The snarling subsided and after a hushed pause, it tentatively crept forward to snuffle at my hand before giving it a timid lick. "Ah, I see," I laughed, sticking both hands in now to pick the puppy up and hold it in front of my face, "not such a tough guy after all, huh? No, you're just a big ol' softie deep down."
Its stubby tail began to wag and it replied with a small yip.
"You don't say?" I smiled back, cradling it in my arms now and taking one of its paws in my hand. "Look at those feet. You're going to be a big fellah, aren't you? Do you have a name?" Another yip. I scanned the puppy corral, but didn't see any signs listing names. Ruffling the cushy fur of its tummy, I told it, "Well you look like a Marshmallow to me."
"Quick," Lea suddenly appeared at my shoulder, whispering into my ear, "you distract everyone with your feminine wiles and I'll stuff the pup down my shirt to smuggle him out of here."
I snerked, not taking my eyes off the poof as I tapped a finger to its wet nose. "Ah, so this is the one you're going to get. Good choice."
"Me? Nah," he shook his head as his hand went to pet it and it repaid him by treating his fingers like a chew toy. He didn't seem to mind. "Saïx would murder me execution style if I ever brought a dog home."
I turned to look up at him now, arching an eyebrow. "But I thought you said Saïx loved dogs."
"Nope. Other way around, they love him. He just suffers their presence. Does lead to some pretty funny interactions though whenever he crosses paths with one. But no, I meant you. How 'bout it, wanna give this lil tyke a home?"
"Oh no," I sighed sadly, shifting the puppy in my arms and it took the opportunity to flick my nose with its pink tongue as I did so. "Unfortunately, pets aren't allowed in my apartment complex. But maybe when I get my own place."
His head rocked back slightly, "Huh? Already have plans to move out? But you just got there."
"Situation's temporary. My room's a future baby nursery, so I need to find a place before junior arrives in a few months." I nuzzled the critter's snoot. "Hopefully I'll find somewhere nice that allows dogs and I can get a little cutie like this guy to just snuggle with in bed all day."
"Mmm," he hummed. I could feel his hand trailing down the length of my ponytail, running it through his fingers and letting it slowly slip free strand by strand as he mumbled, "Sounds like that would be nice to come home to." Then he tensed beside me, snatching his hand back to instead scratch a spot behind his ear, "Er… that is… I mean you make… coming home to a dog sound nice. Heh."
I made a noncommittal noise in my throat, stroking a curled finger under the puppy's chin.
"...I'm going to have to take the lil mutt away from you, aren't I?" I heard Lea ask.
"Chances are good, yes."
"Alright, fuzzball, time to go back to your pen before the pretty lady commits grand theft doggo," he scooped the pooch from my arms. It growled at him and he just snorted as he plopped it down into the enclosure, "Oh yeah, so scary. Got me shaking in my stylish-yet-sensible Chuck Taylors."
Would-Be-Marshmallow ran up to the plastic fence, whimpering at me and giving me the full force of its sad puppy-dog stare. I tucked in my bottom lip, my hands already reaching for it again, "Maybe I should just-"
"Nope, let's go," he snagged my hand and started leading me towards the exit. "Don't make eye contact, that's how they get ya. One look and bam! You're powerless to resist their evil, doggie mind games."
I let him guide me back out of the store, offering little resistance beyond a tiny pout. It wasn't until he led us onto another escalator that I snapped out of my sulking. I furrowed my brow, looking down, "Wait, we're descending."
One step below me, he turned to face me with a smirk. This was one of the rare occasions he was at my eye level without having to stoop. "Yes, that more or less tends to happen on down escalators."
"But why?" I frowned.
His head tipped slightly to the left. "...I'm guessing you're looking for an answer more sophisticated than, 'to get to the first floor.'"
I rolled my eyes, "Yes, I mean why-" I stopped, realization dawning on me and my eyelids drooped. "...did we seriously only go to the second floor so you could pet the dogs?"
"Puppies," he corrected then shrugged, "and yes. It was on the way."
"No, no… if it requires taking an up escalator to get there, then a down escalator to get back on track, that is by definition out of the way."
He lifted his chin with a sniff, "Puppies are never out of the way."
I shook my head at him, "You have a problem."
"Says the puppy snatcher."
"I did not-"
"Oh-ho, but you wanted to. Could see it in your eyes, El," he leaned forward, pointing to his own gaze. "Lucky I was there to save you from going down a dark path from which there's no turning back."
I gave a huff through my nose and deadpanned, "My hero."
"That's right, babycakes. And don't heroes always get a kiss from their lady fairs in honor of their heroic deeds?" His hands shifted to cover mine on the rubber handrails and he leaned in further still, his nose brushing mine, his eyes hooded.
Cue the conga drum beat that was the hammering of my heart.
Gosh, he really did just so love using this pretend boyfriend act to mess with my head, didn't he?
Well, nope. Nu uh. Not today, you stupid blush! Turn around and march yourself back to wherever you came from because this face ain't buying what you're selling.
I rocked back on my heels a bit, regaining a little space between us as I turned my head away. "Well, if you head back to 101 Spots, I'm sure Perdita would love to slobber you with those kisses."
Snerking, he stepped off the escalator as we reached the bottom, muttering, "Was worth a shot." As I followed him onto the ground floor, he grabbed hold of my shoulders and guided me a few steps further before bringing us to a stop. "Here we are!" he proclaimed, flourishing his hands out before us, "Ta-da!"
My nose scrunched up slightly. "...The Toy Box?" I read the colorful sign hanging over the archway before me that opened up into (you guessed it) a children's toy store. It seemed business was currently slow, for inside all I could see was one employee by himself, wearing a kiddie cowboy hat too small for his head and galloping around on a stick horse to amuse himself.
"Huh?" Lea followed my gaze then tsked under his breath. "No, not that. That." He pivoted me slightly so I was instead looking at the next business over. Above its entrance flashed big, neon letters spelling out Hot Wheels. They were punctuated by a blinking image of a pair of old fashioned four-wheeled skates leaving a trail of cartoon fire in their wake.
"A roller rink?" I asked slowly and uncertainly.
"Yup! C'mon!" And with that, he weaved our fingers together once more and pulled me through the doors.
The place was huge inside, with eighties synth-pop blasting out from the overhead speakers. The ambient lighting was dim, but you'd hardly notice what with all the glowing neon rainbow tubes twisting and stretching along the walls, the iridescent laser light show dancing to and fro, and the spotlights darting about all over the large arena that was taking up a majority of the space. It was jam-packed with roller skaters laughing and having a good time.
Lea led me over to a long counter immediately to the right of where we'd entered. The cashier across from us was a chick with short, choppy black hair that had a few streaks of violet in it. She said nothing, just crossed her arms and stared at us, chewing her bubblegum and looking unimpressed.
"Hey Go Go!" Lea chirped at her, holding up a pair of fingers. "Two sets of skates please!"
Bored stare not letting up, she merely blew a bubble and remained silent. For a second, I almost thought she hadn't heard him over the blare of the music. But then the gum burst and she gave a flat, "This her?" Her eyes gave me a quick once over before narrowing on Lea. "She's too good for you, Red."
"Don't I know it!" he laughed before shifting over to mime cupping his hands over my ears, "But don't let her hear you say that, otherwise she might finally come to her senses and dump my sorry ass!"
Her eyelids drooped and she blew another bubble. Tough crowd, it seemed. With another pop, she turned her back to us, grabbing a few things off the shelf behind her before dropping them down on the countertop in front of us. "You know where the lockers are," was all she said as I looked down at the padlock and two pairs of roller skates - the smaller set powder blue while the others a blinding red.
"Sure do! Thanks, Go Go," Lea beamed, gathering everything up and tucking it under one arm.
I cocked my head at her, "But I didn't even tell you my shoe size, how-"
Once again, I was being dragged away by Lea's hand on mine. I tripped but caught myself, glancing over at him as we walked towards some benches. He grinned, "Don't worry, they'll fit. Like me, she's got a gift," he tapped an index finger to his temple. "Except instead of ice cream, it's skate size."
Okay… strange talent.
But couldn't argue with results. They fit like a glove. As I tightened and tied my rentals, I glanced over at Lea out of the corner of my eye while he did the same with his. Roller-skating, huh? Not what I'd expected. Then again, I'd had no idea what to expect. But this could be fun. Plus, maybe I could look at this as another opportunity to initiate PDA. Couples roller-skating was an optimal time to do that, right? Right! I just needed to look for my opening and, I don't know… just grab his hand, something like that.
Alright. Mission Make A Move was in motion.
Maybe.
We'll see.
It wasn't long before both Lea and I had finished lacing up and stowed our shoes away into a locker along with the rest of our belongings we wouldn't need. I followed him to one of the few openings in the barriers surrounding the rink. "Ever roller-skated before?" he asked, stepping out into the oval arena just as the song You Spin Me Round started playing over the sound system.
"No," I shook my head, padding across the carpet and stopping at the edge of the ring. I watched as his wheels glided him into a half-spin with ease, coming to a stop when he faced me. Clearly, this wasn't his first rodeo. I shrugged, "But I used to ice skate, so shouldn't be a problem."
"Shouldn't be," he hummed a chuckle, eyes crinkling. Then he rolled back a few steps, making room for me and gesturing for me to proceed, "Have at it then."
I took a step onto the glossy surface, stumbled and nearly faceplanted.
I say nearly because Lea was there in the blink of an eye to catch my arms and steady me, giving a loud snort through his nose. "Dunno how much your ice skating background is gonna help ya here. Blades and wheels? Not the same thing. Ice and hardwood? Not-"
"-the same thing. Got it," I grumbled, my legs wobbling as I struggled to keep my balance, my fingers squeezing his forearms hard.
He smiled down at me before cautiously releasing one of my arms so he could about-face, shifting to my side. There, he took my other hand and tucked it into the crook of his elbow before his feet pushed off, coasting at the speed of molasses. Me, being on teeny-tiny tires, had little choice but to be towed along with him as he said, "Ice and roller-skating are two sides of the same coin, but still totally different animals. Your muscle memory is probably gonna work against ya for a bit. Your body will expect things to work one way and react accordingly only to be surprised when the physics of it all is totally outta whack."
"Thanks for the lecture, professor. I think I'll figure it out." I tested moving one foot forward, slipped and desperately tightened my grip on him to stay upright. "...eventually," I amended, both my arms hugging his bicep close now.
Did this count as making a move?
I don't think it did. It was more like advancing a move already in progress and not even one that I'd started myself in the first place.
Maybe I should concentrate less on making a move and more on just not falling flat on my rear.
Consider the mission scrapped.
"So… you were an ice skater?" he asked conversationally.
I nodded, trying out another step while still using him for support. This one went marginally better. "I took lessons for a few years as a kid. My parents' idea. Supposedly, it improves posture, balance, flexibility and coordination, all in the pursuit of excellence," I recited dryly. "But even though it was just another tool they used to mold me into being their perfect little girl, I still found it fun despite all that. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. I was sad when they ended my lessons once they'd decided I'd outgrown it."
"Ah," he continued creeping us along at a lazy pace while I grew more bold and determined in my attempts to figure out how to make the cursed roller-skates bend to my will and obey me. "That explains why all your movements are so graceful."
"Graceful?" my head snapped up to look at him before I gave a derisive snort. "No, not at all, I'm a total klutz."
"Sometimes," he agreed, pulling to a stop and curving around to stand in front of me now as he hunched forward to look me in the eye, one corner of his lips twitching up. "But that's cute too."
Bam.
Shot through the heart.
Which, coincidentally, were the lyrics that'd just sung out over the speakers as the music switched to You Give Love A Bad Name.
As my brain scrambled to come up with a response, any response to that, a huge smirk suddenly flashed across his face and he declared, "And spin!"
"Wha-?"
Taking both my hands in his, he leaned back and started swinging us both around into a twirl together. Or perhaps death spiral would be the more appropriate term for it. I squeaked as we gained speed, our surroundings blurring more and more together, my feet scrambling to keep the wheels from slipping out from underneath me.
"Don't worry, I won't let you fall," Lea called, still grinning like a madman.
And oddly enough, I took comfort in those simple words. I shyly smiled back and my muscles began to relax. Once I stopped fighting the spin, it went a lot more smoothly. I laughed as my ponytail whipped about from the centripetal force.
He abruptly slowed us to a stop and I staggered at the sudden change, but he caught me around the waist with one arm, pulling me up against him. "I got you," he reassured, panting a bit from energy expended on the twirl. I just breathed a small chuckle and his gaze softened as it flicked from my eyes over to my ponytail, which had swung itself forward over my shoulder when we'd stopped spinning. He brought his free hand up to twist a platinum tendril around one finger. "...why don't you ever wear your hair down?"
"My…?" I blinked at the random question that'd seemingly popped up out of the blue. My gaze averted and shifted about. "Well, I… I guess I never really thought about it. Just to keep it out of my face, I suppose."
Lea watched his fingers as they continued to play with the strands. "Your hair is just really pretty. It looks… I mean, I can... imagine how nice it must look down."
That blush came a-knocking again. And this time my face, being the utter fool that it was, let it in.
I suddenly shot out one arm to the side, pointing a finger and blurting out, "Go over there."
He spluttered and snerked. "Seriously? Just cuz I'm a fan of your hair, you're banishing me?"
"Th-that's not- no, I just-" I stammered, looking down with a frown. "I want to try and see if I can skate on my own for a bit."
"Oh." He tipped his head. "You sure you're ready for that?"
"Won't know until I try. Now," I flicked my hand dismissively at him, "shoo."
Releasing me, he started skating backwards. "Fine. I'll be right here though if ya need me," he said, stopping just a few feet in front of me.
Now shakily standing under my own power, I moved one foot forward to attempt a glide. I teetered and I saw him tense, ready to spring into action and rescue me. However I steadied myself, shooting him a tiny warning glare. He backed off, raising his hands in surrender. I sighed then told him, "Turn around."
His head reeled back, "What?!"
"Turn around," I insisted, rolling slowly forward now, feet lurching and arms darting stiffly about to maintain my balance. He began drifting backwards, maintaining the same space between us. "I can't do this with you looking at me. I feel self conscious."
He beamed. "But I like looking at you! It gives me the warm fuzzies inside," he announced loudly into the sudden hush as the last song ended so all the other skaters around us could no doubt hear.
How I didn't pancake onto the hardwood right then and there will forever remain a mystery to me.
This guy, I swear. The lengths he was willing to go to to sell the whole boyfriend act would never cease to amaze me. Feeling that familiar warmth creep back up into my cheeks as Take On Me started to play, I snapped, "Just turn around!"
"Alright already, jeez," he sniggered, rotating away from me to face forward now while still maintaining the same snail speed.
"No peeking," I told him sternly.
Lea gave an exasperated laugh, "I'm not! I'm not peeking!"
I narrowed my eyes suspiciously on his back as I wobbled my way into another step. Then I had a thought. Perhaps now would be the opportune moment to give the whole PDA thing another shot. I was already starting to get the hang of roller-skating. If I could catch up to him, I could go for the hand or… or hug the arm or something! Just for the sake of maintaining appearances, of course. You know, just... keeping up my half of this whole pretend girlfriend-boyfriend deal. My motives were strictly professional and had nothing to do with a certain little, teensy-weensy crush that would never, ever even see the light of day.
Yeah, okay, let's do this.
Mission Make A Move was back on.
Alright, step one: reaching him.
...that might take some doing.
In the meantime, we'll instead work on step zero: small talk.
"Do you come here a lot?" I asked, unsteadily picking up speed and trying to close the gap. "You seem pretty good at it."
"The kiddos and I goof around here from time to time," he scissored his skates, leisurely weaving his feet in and out and in again. "Been doing it for a while now, so I've picked up a few things. Not gonna be going pro anytime soon, but I get by."
I attempted to mimic his actions with my own skates and failed miserably, floundering a bit before stabilizing. At least the fumble had brought me a few inches closer. "I'm sure you've brought a girl or two here before too."
He shook his head with a chuckle, "Nah. Never really made any stops along the way between the bar and my apartment when taking a lady friend home. But… I always did think this might be a fun place to take a gal on a date."
Realization struck.
"Wait!" my foot slipped, I staggered and flailed before catching myself. "Is this a date?!"
"Heh, sorta?" his hand went to the nape at the neck, tugging at the hairs there. "More of a mini-date? Or just… chilling together cuz we enjoy the pleasure of each other's dazzling company so much!"
"This is a date!" I repeated, stomping after him furiously now. Which, let me tell you, was not effective in skates at all. But through sheer force of will alone, I managed to get a bit closer. "I was supposed to pay for the next date!"
"And you have!"
I swear I could hear the smirk in his voice.
"I most certainly have not!"
Almost there now.
"Have too! It was free. Me and Go Go are tight, like this," he held up one hand, crossing his index with his middle finger, "so I gots the hookups!"
A growling huff escaped me. "Cheater. This doesn't count, I'm paying for the next one."
"This so counts! Next one's on me, you can cover the one after that."
I scoffed. "And give you time to figure out how to con the system again? I don't think so, you-"
I suddenly tripped over the toe stop of my left skate and toppled forward, crashing hard into Lea's back, my arms instinctively latching around his waist. He grunted in surprise and swayed, but managed to keep us both upright and standing. As I hung onto him as if my life depended on it, fingers clutching at the front of his shirt, face buried in his back and inhaling his cinnamon scent mixed with the hint of pizza that still clung to his clothes from having gotten off work not too long ago, it slowly sunk in…
Mission accomplished.
Move made.
...albeit accidentally.
But still!
One small step for Elsa, one giant leap for introvert-kind everywhere.
Maybe the next one I'd actually do on purpose.
Cheeks burning now, I awkwardly cleared my throat as I relaxed my grip on the fabric of his Pizza Planet polo and started to withdraw my arms, mumbling, "Sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Don't," Lea said quickly, covering my hands with his and squeezing, forcing them to stay put right where they were. I could feel him pushing us off into a slow glide once more. "Don't… worry about it. It's fine, I don't mind. Take all the time you need to regain your footing."
"...thank you," I muffled into his shoulder blade. Then I hesitated, gnawing on my bottom lip. "...you know… for a guy who's never been an actual boyfriend before, you're actually really good at this."
I could feel his laugh rumble through his whole chest. "Thanks," he said, gently pulling on my arm to bring me around to his side so he could look down at me as he slung an arm over my shoulders, all while making sure my arms remained firmly secured around his midsection. There was a faint redness to his face, probably from the exertion of all this roller-skating. I could only hope he'd assume that was my excuse too. "I guess I was just waiting for the right person to come waltzing into my life." Then he winked and grinned, "That person being your uncle of course."
Eyes widening, I stumbled again, grasping Lea more tightly. "My… you mean the Duke?"
"Hell yeah, the Duke! Talk about silver fox! I mean, hot damn, mamma may I!" he fanned himself with his free hand.
Snorting, I shook my head. "I guess the heart wants what the heart wants."
He chuckled, rubbing his hand up and down my arm. "Seriously though, if it weren't for his Royal High-And-Snootiness marching into the food court and unleashing all holy hell, you and I wouldn't be here doing this right now. I wouldn't be unlocking and realizing my full boyfriend potential and you," he poked the tip of my nose, "wouldn't be experiencing all the joys that come with being the lucky recipient of such attention. He's the one that started it all."
"I suppose that's true," I nodded as I tried to mirror the way his feet moved. How did he make it look so easy?
"And I like to think we have fun with it too," he smiled down at me.
I returned it. "We do."
"Good. On that note," he reached down, unfastening my arms from his waist as he announced, "let's make like a pair of professional roller rinkers and dance!" Taking my hand in his, he whipped me into a couple tight spins.
"Roller rinkers?" I laughed softly when I came to a shaky stop, one hand going to his chest to steady myself. "Don't think that's a real term."
"Hey now, who's the one who actually knows how to skate here?" he smirked, twirling me out wide now. "Trust me, I know the lingo."
I rolled my eyes as he pulled me back in. "My mistake. Forgive me for questioning you, oh supreme fountain of roller-skating knowledge."
"Damn skippy! Now for the flashy finish," his hand went to the small of my back and he bent me backwards into a low dip, waggling his eyebrows at me as he did so.
And that's when it all went wrong.
For you see, I don't think nature ever intended for one human being to dip another while both had tiny wheels attached to their feet.
"Motherfu-" that's all Lea got out before our skates shot out from beneath us and we both went crashing painfully to the floor, him on top of me.
I heard him groan, then, "Shit! El, you okay?!" He hastily braced himself up onto his hands, hovering over me and eyes full of concern.
"Fine," I winced, my fingers going to rub the sore spot at the back of my head. "Let's just… leave the dancing to the professional roller rinkers from now on, okay?"
Relieved, he gave a low breathy laugh and pushed himself back to sit on his knees. "That sounds like quitter talk and I won't stand for it."
I sat up, propping my palms against the cold hardwood behind me. "Good, better not to stand period. Less chance of falling that way."
"C'mon, you. Back on the horse," he grinned, drawing a knee up to his chest to get one skate under him followed by the other before standing and reaching his hands down towards me.
With a sigh, I took them and let him pull me back up to my feet. "Alright, but no more dipping."
One arm encircling my shoulders once more, his eyes crinkled. "I make no such promises."
That earned him an elbow to the ribcage.
Author's Note: Here, have the latest batch of lil references I've baked up fresh out of the oven xP I actually don't have any fun facts for this chapter, I just simply delighted in getting to expand on the mall a bit and injecting more gooey, mushy fluff xD Personally, this is up there for one of my fave chapters of the whole story, haha!
Next chapter, will our couple continue to perfect their fake dating skillz? How will their actual relationship keep developing and evolving? Will Elsa ever successfully "make a move" on purpose? Will the two of them ever realize their as yet unspoken dream of being professional roller rinkers and take the skating world by storm? Stay tuned!
Thanks for reading, I super duper appreciate it! And an extra BIG thank you to those of you who’ve liked, reblogged, and followed so far, seeing those lil notifications always brings the biggest, goofiest smile to my face!

Foxes and Fate 1
Guys I’m dumb. This is literally what having a taglist is for XD Here’s all the goodness I was linking to yesterday (so you’ve potentially already read it), but with my actual taglist included (I don’t know why you guys are so patient with me tysm)
Tybee
The game of cat and mouse was one of the oldest, and had changed little over time. Technically, the cat was a fox, and the mouse was a little bird, but the game stayed the same. She ran and he gave chase, though she couldn't know it until it was too late. She walked in human form, thought her heart stayed sparrow fast and her eyes darted to every sound and shadow as she crossed the darkened parking lot. It did her little good. Ancient instincts had dulled with the passage of generations, diluted to mere uneasiness as the eyes of her predator tracked her from the edge of the woods. Tybee smiled, eyes twinkling with mischief and starlight.
The girl flicked a glance over her shoulder, but the fox was nowhere to be seen. His shadow-dark pelt was made for the night, and his passage was a hushed echo against the greater murmuring of the night. She sang for him, Lady Night, lusty crickets and whispering grass, covering the rustling passage of her favorite son. Nighttime was for hunters. Sunset, a benediction for the hunted.
The jingling of keys was a harsh discord against the night song. Tybee's senses stretched out, tasting the girl's aura, testing her Luck. When a particularly loud frog croaked nearby she jumped, but did not drop her keys. Not especially ill luck, then. Didn't necessarily mean good, but it was a start.
Slipping back into his human form, Tybee snuggled into the shadow of a large tree as the girl got into her car. He blew her a kiss, and though he couldn't see it, he imagined her skin shivered with the magic of it, as his brush of power marked her. He'd let Fate decide, whether that kiss brought his little bird to him or not. Tonight, he would hunt for fun. Tomorrow, the real game began.
Lia
Lia sat in her car a moment too long before turning it on. Her fingers had locked the doors automatically when she'd gotten in, a habit long engrained by her mother.
"You can never be too careful," she'd always said. Lia was slowly learning that wasn't entirely true.
It had taken years for her to figure out that all the careful watching, all the what-ifs, all the opportunities lost to fear took away what made life worth living. That her mother really was too careful. Now Lia was trying to strike the right balance, to temper caution with reason. Her avian soul had seen that life as the cage that it was. Now she was ready to fly.
She started the car, telling herself it had only been the wind, or night animals. No one had been following her, she was just anxious being out by herself after dark. It was smart to be anxious, silly to be paranoid. Right. Now if only her too rapid heart would get that memo.
As she drove she forced herself to relax, unlocked the doors, rolled down the window. The night breeze carried the smells of damp earth, growing things, and the unnamable smell of magic. Lia had chosen this school specifically because of its location: far enough from home for Lia's liking, close enough for her mother's worrying, and most importantly, rumored to be near a small Rift.
The holes in reality had always been there, but in recent years they'd grown in number and frequency. And unreliability. A new Rift could appear overnight, and just as quickly fade away into nothing. The one in the next town over was small, but apparently had been there for years and years, even before the shift that had started them cropping up all over the place.
Of course, it wasn't a widely advertised fact, because they were unspeakably dangerous to live near.
The less stable rifts, the ones the had started appearing more recently, were said to take out entire towns with them when they collapsed. But an old, small one like this, Lia had reasoned, wasn't likely to collapse any time soon. And the size of it meant the magic flowing through from Otherside shouldn't do much more than …well, Lia didn't know what. But she wanted to find out. So she'd chosen this school, ran it by her best friend Kyle, who had both agreed and helped convince her mother to let her go. Kyle who was out late tonight, who was never afraid to go anywhere alone. Who never shied away from adventure.
Lia could only hope to be as brave.
It seemed Kyle wasn't the only one out tonight when she pulled into the parking lot of the Honor's House. The co-ed dorm was surprisingly one of her mother's selling points. She'd been pleased to know that Kyle would be staying only a few doors down, and doubtless he made calls home to her mother just as often as Lia herself. Bless him. She couldn't ask for a better best friend. Kyle always had her back.
She wished he was here now as climbed out of the car. Even parked this close to the doors, walking alone in empty parking lots made her nervous.
Which was her only excuse for screaming when someone tapped her on the shoulder.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!"
The woman had jumped back when Lia screamed, a bundle of brightly colored flyers clutched to her chest. Her eyes were wide and luminous, seeming to catch the light that streamed out through the house windows. Something about her posture screamed readiness over wariness, like she'd had to hold herself back from a violent response.
Lia stared.
"I'm sorry," the woman said again. Her voice was smooth and cultured, carrying the traces of an unfamiliar accent. Something that stretched the vowels and lingered on the R's, making them roll sensually.
"I only wanted to ask if you were going inside, if you wouldn't mind taking in some of these flyers."
The woman held out a small stack, the print on them almost lost in elegant lines of rolling scroll work. It seemed to be an advertisement for a traveling show and market fair.
"The doors were locked," the woman said. Lia suddenly realized she hadn't said a word herself.
"Oh, yeah! Sorry, so sorry. It's late and, um, visiting hours-"
"I understand." The woman smiled, with all the warmth and brightness of stage lights. "Would you mind, taking them in for me?"
"No, not at all-sorry if I scared you." Lia took the offered papers. The woman chuckled, a dark, rolling laugh.
"Thank you so much for doing my work for me."
The words seemed odd, like they carried more weight than they should. Lia frowned, eyes falling to the papers in her hand.
"The Best Show here or Otherside," it read. Lia's breath caught. The Rift.
She went to ask the woman, but she was already gone. The parking lot was as dark and empty as before. Shaking herself, Lia hurried inside, feeling stupid for standing around outside gawking at flyers that could have been read just as easily in the saftey of the lobby. Angry with herself, she tossed the flyers carelessly on the front desk and went upstairs.
She kept one for herself.
The style was interesting, she told herself. They'd make good inspiration for her sketchbook. She ignored the racing in her heart at the idea of tumblers, acrobats, fire eaters, fortune tellers. The best show here or Otherside. Magic.

sleepily | g.d
Summary: lazy days with your cuddly boyfriend grayson dolan
Warnings: pure fluff
Word Count: 1309
You loved lazy days. For you, they were the best kinds of day you could ever have. Mostly because you got to spend the day in bed with your dorky boyfriend, Grayson, who sometimes decided to curl under the bed sheets for the rest of the day. And only with that planned for the afternoon, you were happy.
Cuddling with him was something that you started to need instead of want, not that you didn’t, but it was now a must. Sleeping without his arms around you became uncomfortable, being that his warmth and his heartbeat could lull you to sleep. You called him you big-teddy-thic-bear, which he would blush and laugh every time you called him that. Sometimes those days turned on day-long talks about life, about the future, about dreams, about everything. Both of you could talk to each other for hours and never get tired of it.
Rainy-Sunday’s were your favorites; because it meant lazy day. So you weren’t surprised that, when you woke up and looked at the clock on the night table that showed the late afternoon hour, the muscular arms of Grayson were still around you and pulling your back against his hard chest. His breath was hitting the back of your neck, and you could feel the softness of his lips brushing your delicate skin. Smiling to yourself at the beautiful moment, your fingers started to caress his forearms that were against your belly, the roughness of his skin and arm hair scratching your fingertips.
The sound of the rain was like a lullaby outside, with the wind hitting the room’s window and making a little whistle when it soothed. Your fingers kept dancing on your boyfriend’s forearms even when you were looking at the grey colour that tainted the sky. The warmth that your body was involved in was contrasting so much to the chilly temperature the room had. The first couple of days in December started being like this, and as you loved cold temperatures and also had a boyfriend who always radiated warmth, you loved the season. Using sweatpants, hoodies that belonged to Grayson, and fuzzy socks; the best outfit you could ever have.
One of Grayson’s leg jerked forward on his sleep, and then slowly moved in between yours, dragging his body closer to you. You tangled your fingers with his, and slowly, pulled the back of his hand to your lips, leaving a soft kiss on his skin.
Taking you by surprise, a kiss was left on the back of your neck, making you giggle.
“I thought you were asleep” You mumbled, now caressing the back of his hand with your thumb.
He sighed.
“If you keep doing what you were doing before, maybe I will fall back to sleep” He whispered back groggily, his morning voice clearly present. You could feel him inhaling the smell of your skin and hair, which apparently was pleasant for him. “I just woke up and feel like I can’t move.”
You giggled again.
“Then don’t, baby, let’s stay like this for a while”
His chest vibrated as he chuckled, and before you know, he turned your body until your back hit the bed, so he could put his body over yours, trying not to crush you, but resting his head on your collarbones. Your legs were hugging his waist and his arms were under your body, the heat of his hands under his hoodie that you were wearing. If it wasn’t because you were used to this, the touch of his hand against your lower back would have sent shivers down your spine. Giggling, you rested on of your hands on the back of his head, playing with his hair and the other on his naked back, caressing his skin with your nails.
He moaned at the affection, and tilted his head until he gave you a soft kiss under your jaw.
“I love you so much, baby girl” he said, closing his eyes and resting his head against your collarbone again. You sighed and smiled, pulling the sheets over both of your bodies, and hugging his waist tighter against your hips.
“And I love you too, cuddly-boy”
He chuckled again.
“Oh, shut up”
Smirking, you kept tracing figures on his back, also feeling his body relax and fall against your own. He tried not to crush you, and somehow he was supporting his weight. But as soon as he fell asleep again, his body fell slowly against yours. He wasn’t crushing you, even though he was pretty heavy, but feeling his heart beat so fast in his chest was enough to ignore any ache his weight made on you. It was beautiful.
His little snores were heard even with the loud rain outside. You were surprised his twin didn’t barge through the door, asking why his brother wasn’t up yet. But probably he was with his girl too on his room, and at the thought of the other stupid guy being happy, you smiled. He deserved the happiness he gave.
Minutes passed by, and you were still caressing your boyfriend’s back. At some point you had your own movement, eight figures on his back and the other hands massaging his sculp. Your eyes closed, with your hearing concentrated on his heartbeat, and your body engulfed in pure warmth and affection. You felt like home, he was your home after all.
Your eyes opened and fell on Grayson’s face as he kept on sleeping. You looked lovingly at him, feeling your heart beat faster with joy and pure adoration. You were completely in love with him, you knew that the moment the goof tripped on your feet two years ago and decided to be smooth, smiling at you and trying to impress you with a pick up line. Only he could get a girl with that, and it was you.
You admired the way his eyelashes fell on his cheeks, how his nose was adorably placed against the material of the hoodie. His soft lips, parted and moving slightly because of his dream. The way his eyebrows where relaxed, and how some strands of hair fell against not only you but against his forehead, all messily but still adorable. He was beautiful, so breathtaking. Not only because of his looks, but mostly because of his heart, mind and soul. You were head over heels for this dork, he had you completely around his little finger.
And you were so happy with that.
Wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling your body a little bit more under his, you let his face rest against the crook of your neck. He groaned in your ear after the slight movement, but hugged you tighter. You kissed his cheek softly, still playing with his hair, and smiled.
“You really have no idea how much I love you, Gray, you really don’t” you whispered so silently, even you couldn’t hear yourself properly. Kissing his jaw, you felt his body move against yours again.
“Aren’t you a sweetheart that doesn’t let me sleep” he grunted with sarcasm, but you could feel his smile against your neck.
“I let you sleep for an hour, you lazy ass.”
He kissed his way to your lips, from you neck, to your jaw, then to your cheek until he was over your lips. He smirked at you sleepily, and gave you a little peck that made you smile.
“And meanwhile, confessing your love for me” you blushed instantly, and he laughed, kissing you again, a little bit more intense than the other one. You closed your eyes, the softness of his lips against your own making you smile in the middle of the kiss, which made him smile too.
Pulling away, he looked directly at your eyes.
“Don’t be shy, baby girl; I’ve done it too so many times”
