I don’t really care about “defining” Murderbot and ART’s relationship I think they’re both uniquely insane human-adjacent but Not Quite sentiences that defy total human comprehension. Murderbot is the only way ART can contextualize human experience. ART is how Murderbot allows itself to be vulnerable because it literally doesn't let it be alone in its brain where it can generate 5 trillion faulty risk assessments per second. ART gaslights Murderbot into thinking it died and then shoots missiles at the colony when it gets kidnapped. They made a kamikaze AI baby together.

I realized the other day that ART never saw MB completely lose its shit because it thought ART was dead. It has no idea how fucked up the entire situation made Murderbot. How upset it was. And scared. And enraged. It didn't hear it yell "my friend is dead!" at Amena or the way it tears through the Targets (it sees the end results of that but not the catalyst that pushes Murderbot over the edge.) All it sees when it comes back online is Murderbot severely hurt and very mad. (Mad because it was used, mad because it's easier than dealing with the confusing mix of hurt and betrayal and utter relief.)

And now with System Collapse apparently being pretty heavily focused on Murderbot's rocky emotional state... there are so many ways it can go. How does MB handle being around ART and its crew while being so emotionally vulnerable and fragile? How does ART react to seeing how severely MB is affected? Is it sympathetic? Confused? Frustrated that MB won't let it help (or even tell it what's going on)? I have a feeling Murderbot will focus on the physical effects of its emotional distress, not the emotional distress itself. Which will ofc make it worse. Does it even think to consider that it's its emotional state causing its physical distress? Is ART able to help at all or does it unintentionally make things worse at first?

One of the things that’s incredibly funny to me about Murderbot and ART’s meeting is that Murderbot is being so ridiculous about it.

ART: *bumps up the life support to make its construct passenger more comfortable, watches shows with its new friend, offers free surgery and advice to pass as a human, watches over Murderbot as it goes to do dangerous things, watches out for Murderbot’s new humans*

ouuuggghhh thinking abt my extremely fragmented OC story where Flint and Blaze (right) serve as foils for Bruno and Brutus (left) and Flint & Blaze exemplify the pain of not being able to make up/apologize for past actions. But because they were chosen to be revived from the dead for a second chance at life by pure luck (because they died young), they were able to mend their relationship as brothers but not their other family members or friends that they've wronged. And they would influence Bruno and Brutus to try to reconcile and mend their strained relationship.

Youthful eyes blink in surprise at the woman's words, staring for a few seconds before he gives a gentle laugh that is warm and friendly. There's a boyish, youthful charm that clings to him although he cannot be much younger or older than she is. In some ways, its like the marble statues carved by masters who are frozen eternally in their visage — like the Greek heroes sent to wars and battles who still had youth clinging to them while they were sent to spill their blood on the battlefield for the amusement of gods. But unlike cold statues, Chrollo's expression is warm and lively. And even though he dons a dark suit, it's simply charming rather than imposing or authoritative on him.

" But I was rather hopeful you might. My colleague got sick from food poisoning rather suddenly and this mummy is supposed to be on a flight in a couple hours to ensure it makes it for opening night on a tour. Chrollo gestures to the other wing of the museum, where the sounds of the crowd drifts through the halls of marble floor and hanging chandeliers to reach the room they currently are.

" I asked the local museum staff here for help, but it seems the opening of a new exhibit here takes precedence over this. " There's a sad smile that rests on his face, like someone whose watched a favorite book be passed over thousands of times. " They agreed they would help but it seems like they underestimated how long they'd be caught up with this. I'm growing quite concerned that they'll be too late. " A sigh eases from his lips, grey eyes turning away from the open doorway to look towards Mya.

" I know you're just a patron visiting this museum like many others, but your assistance would really be appreciated. If you aren't busy? I...don't have a lot on me but I could offer some money at least if you'd like for your help. " He offers, one hand resting over the container the mummy is contained within. The only off thing about anything said is, perhaps, he seems a fraction of a bit too calm for the concerns he voices.
