I am good enough. I am okey the way I look, I don’t need to look or act a certain way to be myself. No matter what, I will be myself, and I know myself the best. I know my body the best, I know my thoughts and feelings the best, and I know who I am the best. I am trans enough, I am queer enough, I am disabled enough, I am HoH enough, I am ill enough... I am myself. I am enough.

I forgot who did the posts that originally inspired me to draw this but it really hit me close to home. I appreciate this sort of sentiment and think it should be spread more. Every time someone asks you “Why do you think you’re X or Y?”, you seriously don’t owe them an explanation. Sometimes there really aren’t words for it. It’s just something YOU know YOU feel. And that’s enough, it really is. The greatest thing you can do to respect yourself is to understand that the only person any of it matters to, the only person who deserves to know why, is you. <3

There are so many misconceptions and preexisting notions in the outside world, that when you find yourself trying to actively interact with society and dive into heavy, controversial issues in a logical way, it seems nearly impossible. Especially when you're giving your everything to an important cause, bringing your full attention, support and research, it can feel confusing with all of the opposing opinions floating around out there. Drowning your voice. Drowning your beliefs. How about today you disregard others opinions and look inside of yourself, look for a part of you that already knows the truth. The truth about life, about people, about love. And about what you stand for. Whether you know this or not, you know what you stand for. It's embedded into you and whether you pretend you support certain things or not, the things you really do will always be a giant part of you. So now that you understand that your values are incredibly important to who you are as a person, let's talk about an extremely controversial, hush-hush topic. Phenomena. Transgenders. Children. Teens. Adults. And even, older- elders. It's thing. But what does it mean? Lets address the basic definition and get to the complexities of it after. If you know a transgender person, then you know a person whom doesn't identify- internally- in their soul- with the gender that the world sees them as. You see, for most of the world there are only two genders that a person could have: boy and girl. But, for someone who is transgender, they can identify in-between those narrow/limited genders, they can identify outside of them, or, strictly, they can identify from the very opposite of their birth sex. From male to female. Or female to male. There is so much in-between in gender, that a lot of people don't see, or understand it. But it's understandable- society doesn't really educate us on these types of issues. Now that you understand transgender, you may start to piece together why your niece- whom you view as a female, dresses like a boy and cries when she has to play with barbies. Maybe now you understand why that 25 year old that always comes into the coffee shop you've claimed, insisted on changing her name from Emily to Riley. It feels better. It's settles into the skin much easier. It has a ring to it that makes it easier to breathe. Because what a lot of people don't realize or even understand is that the mind is a very, very separate component to our body. How we identify can, in the worst circumstances- represent the exact opposite to what our body represents. For example, that girl who went to your junior high- with the giant chest, big butt, and sexy lips probably represents someone who is asking to be slept with. To be touched. She is asking for it, for sure- or is she? Another example, the female you see coming into the local gas station frequently has a feminine frame, therefore she must be all flowers and pink inside the walls of her mind, right? No. It doesn't work that way. No matter how comforting it is to tell yourself this at night, before you fall asleep. Never look at someone and assume their feelings, their plans, or their identity by solely their appearance. This concept sadly isn't taught in school, so here I am. Now into the very few complexities about open gender or being transgender- not many people can afford the aesthetics. Not many born-females can afford the multiple surgeries to reconstruct there chubby, feminine face into a strong jaw line that resembles nothing but a man. No 5'1 born-female can suddenly grow to be 6'0, in order to fit into the gender expectation of a male. Does his make this born-female any less transgender? Any less of a man? Most definitely fucking not. It does not change the manly endurance, power, and confidence- that grown from a little boy- that gently rests between their ears. Forever to stay. I stretch my arms out to young, elder and the in-between folks whom have put a dagger to their own skull because they could never match their mind up with their body. I feel you inside my skin. You live there. And you're what fuels me to fight for understanding. Preparing me for a long war. I hold the hands of women whom will never be seen as one. For the men who will always be called "little girl" just because they don't have the celebrity status and celebrity finances that would enable them to correct their body. You're still relevant. You're still here, in the transgender community. You are trans enough. I am trans enough. I, with my curvy hips and lumpy chest- am boy enough. Jordan.
