Epilogue Challenge: Jobs

Time for assorted job headcanons! First for the Chosen.

2014 sees the inauguration of Koushirou’s dedicated research facility in the Digital World, where his team does most of the work from then on. The facility is sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and receives a lot of grants from universities around the world. By 2027 the facility even has a highly prestigious internship program.

The building is shared with Jyou’s clinic, and Jyou and Koushirou’s work overlaps very often. The two often need to be reminded by their Digimon partners that they need to eat, but when they do break for lunch they do it together.

Miyako is on Koushirou’s payroll as his top IT person and pitches ideas to the research team a lot, but she only comes in person once a week and works from home the rest of the time. She also does a lot of freelance programming and IT work, also from home! This allows her to spend a lot of time with her family and indulging in her hobbies. She has an extremely good work-home balance. In 2027, she is also leisurely working on a PhD in Information & Systems Engineering, just for kicks.

Mimi tried college for a year, but found that it’s just not for her. It wasn’t an easy decision to quit (many tears were shed, about half of them on Sora’s lap), but everyone was so supportive and she found her footing in the adult world far quicker than she imagined. The YouTube channel she starts to promote her cute merch gains popularity quickly, and from a budding entrepreneur she evolves into an influencer, and finally into a full-fledged celebrity in both the US and Japan beloved for her cooking and variety shows.

After college, Takeru becomes an editor for a big publishing company. He continues to write his memoir while working, and publishes the first volume of Digital World Adventure when he’s 30. When it becomes an instant bestseller, he is able to quit his job and work on the second volume in a somewhat faster pace. It still takes six years to finish, but considering it took him 18 years to finish the first one... In addition to working on his memoir, he writes op-eds and articles for newspapers and magazines, goes on book tours, and holds lectures around the world. And there’s also a volume 3 later, and eventually a series of popular children’s books.

Most of the Chosen’s children and their partners attended Hikari’s kindergarten. A lot of them still call her “Hikari-sensei”.

Daisuke’s signature dish is his 2-Top Tonkotsu Ramen. He and V-mon came up with their secret broth recipe together after many years of research and rival scouting.

And among their kids...

Though Atori shows in interest in ikebana from an early age and even participates in a few showcases, she keeps it as a hobby. Surprisingly, it’s Yoshiya who picks up ikebana in middle school and really falls in love with it, and in time he takes over as the iemoto of the Takenouchi School. This includes changing his name to Takenouchi Yoshiya, and he is very proud to bear the name.

Atori does become an athlete, though Atori of 2027 would not believe she would become a professional tennis player, of all things! She is one of Japan’s best, wins several Grand Slams and Olympic medals, and is even ranked in the top 10 players worldwide in her peak. After retiring, she subverts everyone’s expectations by becoming a rock climbing instructor.

Shouichi does grow up to be a marine biologist. His specialty is seals!

Mai ends up going into politics, and at the highest point of her career is appointed Secretary-General of the United Nations. Even people who don’t agree with her political views agree she’s one of the good ones.

Hype House Members

A/N: We got some new members, so I thought I’d do a new, proper introduction for all of them!

This is an AU where all the characters are TikTok famous in one way or another. It’s purely just for fun. <3

Katsumi Sakiya:

Started the whole thing

Was lonely and on tour so she just scrolled through TikTok to find people she thought she could vibe with

Has to spend a lot of her time away from home

Either at the studio or on tour

But she makes the most of it when she’s actually there

Started off with a huge crush on Aspen, but once someone brought Polly into the equation her heart was g o n e

It was a simple and kind gesture, but he had her falling for him within seconds

Talked about how most of her friends used her for fame

This cutie just sipped his coffee and was like

“i’ll be your friend then, we could do.. like cool stuff together”

Oop she’s in love

Usually, Katsumi wouldn’t even bother trying to show her affection or act on it

But since they live in the same damn house, she’s carefree with it

Kissing his cheeks or hands

Cuddling him all the time

It’s cute!

If Rika isn’t cooking, Katsumi definitely is

She actually loves the process of it and especially loves to bake!

She’s all about the brownies, bro

Suki Sakiya:

The little sister!

Not just to Katsumi but to basically everyone else now

She’s nine, broskis so no shipping uwu

She does actually have autism

Katsumi saved Suki from an abusive household

Legally adopted her after a year of fighting with her birth family

Suki is a bit of a brat but she loves everyone in her own way

Tea parties and dress up for everyone!

Gets all pouty and sad when Katsumi has to leave for tour

Probably either sleeps in Katsumi’s room when she’s gone or goes to Polly’s room so they can facetime together

Unintentionally gets everyone in trouble each time they go out

By grabbing candy and forgetting to put it up on the counter when checking out

She tries her best though

Rika On’nanoko:

The therapist friendTM

Because of her past, she’s constantly making sure people are okay

She worries a little too much

Sometimes doesn’t have boundaries when checking in on her friends

Will walk right into the bathroom if she suspects they’re sad

Or wake them up at 4am like

“i noticed at dinner you were slightly quieter than usual, whats up”

“rika im sick, i have a sore throat, wha-”

An absolute angel

Definitely sings and dances around the kitchen with Katsumi

She does n o t want her friends to ever feel unwanted

Will! Buy! Gifts! Every! Single! Day!!

Has mandatory family night once or twice every week

If there’s ever tension in the house she does the whole circle thing with the speaking stick

Rensaki Renea:

Rensaki is the quieter one

Prefers to be a lone wolf

She doesn’t really participate an any outings unless Rika forces her to go

Only goes to the family nights because Rika will be there

Chose to live in the basement instead of a room

Which is fair, more space for her

Dedicates her life to her art

If you go downstairs there’s that nice smell of paint and clay mixed with tea

Rensaki only lets Rika hang out down there

Although she’s quiet and awkward, she does her best to be nice

Has a love-hate relationship with Katsumi

Aspen Akiyama:

BabyTM

Behind the actual child of the house

They’re super sweet and do their best to keep their alters at bay

Aspen is a kind and loving bean but will fight you for a hamster

They have three alters;

Alexandria, Karma, and Eric

Alexandria is a snobby and sassy lady to say the least

Karma is the crackhead, waking everyone up at 5am by screaming on about how a squirrel got its balls stuck in a fence

Eric is crackhead 2.0, he pulls pranks on everyone in the house whenever he’s around

Polly Amour:

The straight gay best friend

Sassy as all hell

Has a good sense of fashion

Crushing hard on Katsumi too

He’s pretty friendly with everyone in the house but doesn’t really do anything with them unless he’s asked first

Huge weeb!!

He has random cosplays in his closet

Wigs carefully placed everywhere

Has a whole ass coffee bar in his room

He needs coffee just as much as he needs oxygen

Sweetheart supreme

Ainslie Carsyn:

She!! Has!! BiRBS!!

Probably lives in the greenhouse tbh

She’s usually walking around the house with a bird on her shoulder or head

Definitely has conversations with them

Teaches everyone in the house how to take care of them just in case she has to leave or something

Catches some members of the house even cuddling with them throughout the day

Has to buy tons of bird food every week

Kind of a crackhead

Definitely does dances with Katsumi

Katsumi fan, can’t prove me wrong

Especially when Katsumi sings with the birds

That bitch sTANS

Hikari Kanako:

Like Rensaki, she’s a sculptor!

She’s a lot friendlier though

If she’s not sculpting or making something, she’s downstairs with everyone

Spends most of her free time watching Netflix with Suki and Katsumi

Definitely sculpts merch for Katsumi, tbh

Gets bank when she does that

A bit new to the house so she’s kind of awkward

But!! Everyone consistently invites her out or pops up at her room

Tries to cook with Rika

Probably starts making art WITH THE FOOD

She’s a cutie pie

I wonder what would happen if gatomon never lost her tail ring.

Tailmon losing her ring would definitely be an interesting twist. Jogress would probably not exist unless they found another plot point to use.

This is actually something I’ve headcanon’d at one point. Instead of Jogress, the kids each get their own revolutions. Because Takeru, Hikari, and Ken could theoretically could have their own Ultimate evolution, which thanks to tri. two of them do now and Jogress wouldn’t make sense for Takeru and Hikari because they are the strongest without their jogress partners. Since Daisuke and Ken can go to Ultimate, it would leave Iori and Miyako as the weakest.

SO as a compromise, why not use the fact they have two crests each and those can combine to unlock Ultimate evolution for V-mon, Armadimon, and Hawkmon? Therefore making them just as equally as strong as Takeru and Hikari? Ken too if Toei would ever actually use his crest. They have his crest in pop up merch, it’s a start!

Tailmon losing her ring does seem pointless or at least screwing the kids over in the end because Taichi and Yamato can still “jogress”, yet the other four 02 kids are left screwed.

I hope that Kizuna will lead a potential path where the 02 kids can reach Ultimate on their own. Ken would eventually unlock his crest’s power, but the other three would be a really interesting premise of how they can reach Ultimate.

Japan Travel Diary 🎌

Okay, here it is, a more or less thorough report of my Japan trip in January (which mostly consisted of doing Kalafina-related stuff so I thought it might be interesting for some of you XD). Sorry, this is like 5 million years overdue. @mello-chi‘s comment about looking forward to my upcoming Japan trip reports actually reminded me that I still had this post in my drafts so I thought I better finish this now before I have to write another one XD

Without further ado, let’s get to it 〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→

January 14 (Sunday) This was my first ever non-direct flight to Japan so I was not looking forward to it. I boarded my plane at around 10 am (Austrian time), I arrived in Paris at around noon and I landed at Narita Airport at around 9 am the next day (January 15 - Monday). Here’s a rare selfie of little me waiting to board the plance wearing my beloved Cakey bomber jacket by Lily Brown (it kept me warm during the flight ^_^). PS: Excuse the excessive use of filters in this pic. I was wearing no make-up.

You know what I find annoying, they have all these Japanese artists like LiSA and Nana Mizuki in the plane music library but absolutely NO Kalafina. Why?? And no, you don’t need to answer that, it was more of a rhetorical question anyways. I know of course that for some weird reason Kalafina aren’t as popular as those other artists….but still, so frustrating… I ended up watching a ton of movies :P I really envy people who can sleep during a flight.

January 15 (Monday) I didn’t do much that day tbh. I was too exhausted from my flight. I am glad they let me check in early at my hotel (which was in Kanda btw – very convenient location for tourists if you ask me) After I had freshened up a little at the hotel I did make a short trip to Akihabara to check if I could find any second hand Kala goods. That day I found a Blue Day wristband, a KNGNN postcard and a cheap Consolation Pamphlet (something I had always wanted but I never felt like paying the full price on CDJapan). Throughout my stay I managed to find quite a lot of stuff actually but more on that later. Here’s a sneak peek tho XD

January 16 (Tuesday) This day was dedicated to shopping. I think I spent almost an entire day in the Shinjuku/Harajuku/Shibuya area. I bought a bunch of Disney stuff and Pikachu merch for my sister and nephew respectively and then I searched through all the Kala-clothing stores trying to find some WaKei outfits. I am super happy because I got my hands on this cute patchwork skirt by Redyazel, the one that Keiko wore quite recently for the Songful Days promo video. I also bought a matching top because they had a special “buy 2 pieces and get 30% off” deal. I can never resist deals like that even though they actually make you spend even more money in the end XD (sadly, they didn’t have the turtleneck sweater that Keiko is wearing here)

After looking through each and every Lily Brown store in Tokyo I finally found this =>The long cardigan Keiko wore in Nikko (it’s so cute and warm!).

Aside from that, I didn’t really find anything else. I came across the Fig&Viper pullover Keiko recently wore but meh, that’s not really my style and it was still quite expensive. I also saw the Mila Owen dress that Wakana wore a while back but it just wasn’t worth the money (and now I regret not buying it T_T).

January 17 (Wednesday) In the morning I went to visit the lesser known Shinagawa Aquarium which – sorry Wakana – was VERY underwhelming and I can totally understand why it’s not as popular as the other one. The only cool thing was the free shuttle bus, it had a cute design. The aquarium itself looked quite run-down and it was much smaller than I expected. But hey, I met Shirowani-san and I got to touch a dolphin which was pretty epic. Of course I had to eat the parfait that Keiko ordered when she was at the aquarium together with Wakana back in the summer time. It was really yummy but it definitely wasn’t the best day to eat it because afterwards, I was freezing my butt off. Oh well, the things I do for Cakey XD

I really wanted to buy the cute shark backpack but it was just way too expensive T_T Forever sad...Now I regret not buying it. Then again, it’s not really my style.

In the afternoon I met up with my friend Pae and I finally received my goods from the Harmony events and the Acoustic Tour. BANZAI! As for the Harmony event merch, I got the black t-shirt, the blue parka and the keyholder. From the Acoustic Live goods, I got the pamphlet, the clearfile and the postcard set. (I love the black t-shirt SO MUCH! I have worn it a lot since I have gotten back)

Together Pae and I went on a quest to find more Kala-goodies and I got lucky once again. I found two old singles, a limited edition of Magia and a regular edition of Hikari no Senritsu (one of these days my singles collection will be complete XD But I have to be patient because I just don’t wanna pay full price for singles >_>). Aside from that I also bought the limited edition of the Seventh Heaven album which includes the live DVD. They also had a BEST Red Day cup for sale at Radio Kaikan (one of the many tokutens from back in the day) but meh, I didn’t feel like getting it. I wonder if any of you bought it? They also had a FOTW and 9+ONE pamphlet and a few other CDs (but I already own all of those so I ignored them). After my meet-up with Pae, I made a trip to Roppongi to eat at my first out of many Kalafina-restaurants/cafés. That’s when it started raining heavily (so annoying) but at least I found the place rather quickly (thanks to google maps!) I went to the very popular Tsurutontan where they serve huge bowls of udon!! I ordered Katsu Curry Udon (my favourite) and some yummy fried dumplings on the side (OMG, they were SO FREAKING GOOD!!)

The food was delicious but it was a little too much for me. XD Curry soup is much more filling than regular soup. And I underestimated the dumplings quite a bit, they were also super filling. I had intended to go to the Manon Mimie store afterwards but I wasn’t feeling like getting drenched in the rain so I headed back to my hotel. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t end up going because I messaged the store that night and asked them if they still had the Cakey clothes in stock and turns out they don’t *forever sad* I should have tried to find a way to order it back then when the pretty skirt and sweater were still in stock.

January 18 (Thursday) The first half of this day was dedicated to visiting the Imperial Palace. If you arrive early enough you can make a same-day reservation for a tour so that’s what I did. It was an interesting tour for sure and the weather was amazing!!! After the tour was over I decided to walk to Budokan since I was already in the area. I wanted to check out the venue to make sure I wouldn’t get lost on the day of the concert. At that point I was getting quite tired (and super hungry) so it was time for yet another Kala-food-experience. I took the subway to the Akasaka area and paid a visit to the gorgeous café/restaurant/bar La Maison Kioi (the place where the girls had their special SPICE off-day interview). It was so fancy and pretty. I ordered a crazy expensive Afternoon Tea Set but it was totally worth the money, it was incredibly yummy!!! Once I had eaten each and every single piece of food on that tray, I made my way to Shibuya/Harajuku to do some more shopping. This time I came across this gorgeous red skirt that Wakana has been wearing quite frequently. I think I never actually made a post about this skirt o.O A fellow fan on twitter discovered it right before my trip to Japan and when I saw it in the store I obviously couldn’t resist. On my way home I made another stopover in Akihabara and I found the limited edition of the 5th Anniversary Live Selection album. Had to get it of course XD

January 19 (Friday) On Friday I bought my 3-Day-JR-Tokyo-Wide Pass to do some traveling outside of Tokyo. It was another gorgeous sunny day, perfect for touristy stuff ^_^ The first place on my list was Kamakura. There’s lots of nice stuff to see but I mainly wanted to go there because it was the destination of Keiko’s 60 km walk on New Year’s Day back in 2014 (OMG, has it already been four years!!??) One of these days I wanna do that kind of thing as well. I went to see the big buddha of course and I also checked out some of the surrounding shrines and temples. At first I wanted to go to Enoshima as well but then I decided against it, didn’t really feel like going there. Not a fan of beaches anyways. I took the train back to Tokyo but got off in Yokohama (the second place on my list) where I also did some sightseeing. But first I needed to restore my energy so I had some late lunch in Yokohama Chinatown at Jogenro (the restaurant where Wakana ate her shark fin course – she went to the place in Tokyo tho). I really wanted to try the shark fin lunch menu but they wouldn’t let me order it since it is meant for two people T_T Such a shame! The only downside to traveling alone, getting food is troublesome. Then again, if you have company it’s even more of a hassle because it’s hard to find something that everyone likes. Also, tbh, I probably wouldn’t have been a huge fan of the shark stuff anyways so maybe it was for the best. Either way, since I couldn’t have my shark lunch, I decided on one of their regular lunch menus. Wahhh! So tasty!! I love Chinese food! It was too much tho, so many different things to eat, I almost exploded towards the end but I really wanted to finish everything. I hate wasting good food. In dire need to walk off all the calories I had just put into my body, I explored the rest of Yokohama. I walked to Mirai Minato to check out the two Red Brick Warehouses. Back in 2011 and then once again in 2014 Kalafina performed their Christmas Lives at the Red Brick Warehouse. They have mentioned on multiple occasions that this is a very special place for them. Of course I also had to ring the bell of happiness. ^_^ I couldn’t leave Yokohama without riding the Ferris-wheel so I did that in the evening when the sun was setting. I had a great view of the city up there. Later on I managed to take some nice pictures of the colourful and sparkling Ferris-wheel at dusk. And that’s a wrap for my first day-trip outside of Tokyo.

January 20 (Saturday) On Saturday I took the train to Nikkō. One of the main reasons I purchased the JR Wide Pass was because I wanted to take the Shinkansen to Utsunomiya. It’s much more convenient than the other options. And then I got to ride the Nikkō Line which looks really cool. I think you all know why I traveled to Nikkō XD I wanted to see the venue of Kalafina’s World Heritage Special Live. During my last Japan trips I already got the chance to visit Nara and see Kōfuku-ji but I had never been to Nikkō before. And hey, even if Kalafina hadn’t performed there I still would have liked to see Tōshōgū, it’s absolutely gorgeous. And *weeee* I got to witness a traditional wedding. Everyone was all dressed up and the bride looked stunning!! Afterwards I explored the area for a while and walked around a lot. (I walked so much during my Japan trip) I was considering going to see the waterfalls as well but I thought it might not be the best season to experience it in all its beauty and glory. I’ll come back some day soon, I promise! In the afternoon I returned to Tokyo and I once again found myself in the Roppongi area to eat some Kala-food :P Literally the only reason I went to these fancy schmancy areas was to eat at Kalafina restaurants/cafés. This time I ate at “The Counter Roppongi”, the place where Keiko had her YOLO burger meal this winter. I wanted to order the same burger that she had gotten but turns out it had all kinds of weird ingredients (like mushrooms >_>) so I ended up ordering a chicken burger XD I think that might have been the best burger and some of the most delicious fries I have ever eaten. Really impressed! The only thing I could have lived without was the overly sweet brioche bun. It just doesn’t go well with savoury food. I don’t understand why you would use a brioche bun for a burger, doesn’t make sense to me at all o.O Is it a Japanese thing? Or maybe an American thing?

January 21 (Sunday) I took the special Holiday train to Kawaguchiko because I wanted to get a clear view of Mount Fuji. The mountain was still visible while I was on the train but slowly but surely clouds started gathering around it and by the time I had arrived at my destination, Mount Fuji was hidden completely T_T It’s a real shame. The sun was shining and the sky was blue, it was literally perfect weather but each and every cloud in the area had decided to cuddle up to Mount Fuji. I think I made the mistake of taking the later train. I should have taken the train at like 7am or something. Apparently chances of seeing Mount Fuji are highest before 9 am and I think that’s true, I am sure I would have gotten a good view if I had been there earlier. I was there at like 9:30-10:00 and that’s just too late. Oh well, we all learn from our mistakes. In two week’s time I will be closer to Mount Fuji than I have ever been XD I didn’t want my trip to be wasted so I still took the ferry across the lake and of course I took the Kachi Kachi Ropeway which ascends to an observation point near the summit of Mount Tenjo, from where Lake Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji can be seen. Riding that cablecar was rather unpleasant because it was jam-packed. I wasn’t aware you could even squeeze that many people into a cablecar. I got some nice views despite there being no sign of Mount Fuji. Afterwards I bought a bunch of souvenirs for my coworkers and took the train back home again. I really love all the train designs! So cute! Since I still had my JR Pass I thought I’d use it for a few trips along the Yamanote Line. I was trying to avoid using my Suica as much as possible as long as I had the JR Pass XD One of my stops was Ikebukuro. I am not a huge fan of the area but I still wanted to see if I could find anything interesting. Bought some more Pikachu merch for my nephew at the Pokemon Center and then I did some window shopping. A girl-group was performing at Sunshine City while I was there but I didn’t stay long enough to figure out who they were. People were going crazy about them tho so I guess they might have been popular. Who knows. Either way, with all these people occupied the shops were pretty empty so that’s definitely a good thing (especially on a Sunday where it’s usually busy as hell). For dinner I had yummy Coco Curry (for once not Kalafina related :P).

January 22 (Monday) a.k.a. Crazy Snow Day This was the day of our tumblr fan meetup. Probably the worst day we could have chosen but hey, what can you do? And it’s not like any of us could have known that it would snow so heavily. It’s almost funny because I am always in Tokyo when crazy snow storms happen. I was there in 2014 as well. XD Thank God I am more or less used to snow (which is something that can’t be said about most of my fellow-fans that were at the meetup). I took things slowly that day since I was already stressing out about the meetup. I went to Akihabara again and this time I found a FOTW wristband in one of the second hand stores. BANZAI. Back in 2016 when I went to see the FOTW Special Finals I actually forgot to buy a wristband. This has annoyed me for the longest time but I didn’t feel like buying it online so yeah, this was definitely a lucky find. Yippie!! Then I went to Don Quijote to buy some more souvenirs (mostly chocolates). I’ll be eating all this stuff foe the next few weeks. :P So far my favourite purchase is Hokkaido Melon Kit Kat. The BEST Kit Kat I have ever had! It’s so DAMN amazing, I regret not buying more T_T When I got back to my hotel I had to figure out a way to squeeze all the chocolates into my luggage without everything getting crumbled on the flight back home. I think I managed pretty well. I had some sandwiches for late lunch and then I headed to Shinjuku to do some more (window) shopping and to wait for everyone to arrive at the Karaoke place. Sorry again @okeuphemia, we totally kept missing each other at Lumine Est. And sorry to everyone else who had a hard time finding Karaoke Kan. I know it must have been quite the hassle for some of you, especially in this horrible weather. But thankfully, almost everyone managed to get there (eventually). My apologies to Jimmy who didn’t make it! Maybe next time (if there ever is a next time :P) I hope you all had a good time at the meetup. There were way more people than I originally expected and we had some hardcore karaoke singers amongst us (you all rocked btw!!) so we weren’t really able to talk properly but I think it was still nice for most of you. Sorry if I seemed a bit awkward, I am just not very comfortable being among such a big crowd of people. I am glad a few of us decided to leave early and grab a cup of coffee, it gave me the chance to get to know some of you a little bit better. It’s really nice to finally know who is hiding behind those tumblr nicknames (shout out to @audiojapanstyle for just being a super nice and comforting presence!) And hey, such a funny coincidende, that day I found out that @theraspberrybushes and I stayed at the same hotel. We ended up going back together in the heavy snow.Sorry for always rushing ahead. >_<

January 23 I pretty much covered the entire day in my live report but I haven’t talked about my after live activities yet so I guess I will do it here. Originally I had just planned to go back to the hotel to get some sleep. After all I was supposed to fly back home the next morning so I wanted to get some much needed rest. However, my friend Pae convinced me to go have dinner with a few Japanese Kala-fans. I am glad she did because it was actually very nice. But once again, there were way more people than expected (slightly overwhelming – even Hachimaki was there; it felt like I had been invited to an elite Kalafina fan meet-up XD). We went to a Chinese restaurant and had some yummy gyoza. Literally the entire place was filled with Kala-fans XD We didn’t stay there for long so thankfully I didn’t get home too late. Right before we left I managed to REALLY embarrass myself when one of the Japanese Kala-fans approached me. I wasn’t aware he wanted to talk to me, I thought he was trying to get past me or something so when he started talking I turned away from him. Pae had to literally drag me back to him and then I realised he had wanted to start a conversation. Major fail. That’s why I keep telling people that I suck at social interactions. Oh well, we ended up talking about Vienna, seems like he travels there quite frequently for work. Having dinner with all these fellow Kala-fans was a really nice end to an already amazing day. I even have a couple of pictures to remind me of that little meet-up.

Okay, this is officially the end of my travel report. Congratulations to everyone who read the whole thing. I hope it wasn’t too boring. I have lots of Kalafina activities planned for my next trip so I am super hyped ヾ（〃＾∇＾）ﾉ♪

Digimon Adventure Tri Anime Kitchen Car Cafe (2018)

What started into a very brief reservation window for these drinks turned into a walk-in order after so few people managed to snag a seat in the limited time frame. (Personally, I think they did that on purpose to keep the goods from selling out too quickly, but the best stuff still sold out in no time so maybe it didn’t work out...)

As you can kinda see in the pictures, the Digidestined are dressed in the style of their respective Digimon partner’s appearance. It makes for some really adorable merch, and I’m just happy I managed to snag a clearfile of everyone in their outfits.

I did order a couple of drinks though. The first day I ordered Chapter 5′s Symbiotic Pink Lemonade which came with a scoop of orange or mango ice cream (can’t remember which one). It was really refreshing after a day of running around in the Pokemon Center! Plus I pulled a Hikari and Tailmon coaster, so I was super stoked!

I came back another day and got Chapter 2′s Resolution Matcha. It wasn’t as satisfying as the pink lemonade in my opinion, and it was a little watered down, but it wasn’t bad. I also pulled Mei-chan and Meicoomon! I was really trying for Yamato and Gabumon, but maybe I’ll pay one final visit before it ends for good this month...

I have to say, there were two things I was awfully tempted to get: the mobile phone charger featuring Taichi and Yamato and the wall scroll (as seen in the picture above), but those were naturally very popular items, and they all sold out before I could attempt to talk myself into buying them. :( Well, my wallet is relieved anyway.

SolidS QUELL Party (SQP) event report~! (Warning: I ramble. A lot.)

The concert was over a month ago and unfortunately I have a memory on par with a goldfish, but it was one of the best experience I’ve had in Japan so far and I’ll try to recall as much as I can ;;;

The event took place on July 16th at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku. I was blessed enough to win tickets for the afternoon session, and arrived early to queue so I could enter the hall without standing in the sun for too long. There was a booth outside selling official concert merchandise like character goods and light sticks; I didn’t buy any, but there were loads of people near the booth who had laid out their purchased merchandise for trading (since most of the character goods are blind boxes). I should’ve brought along my SolidS merch to give away, since I’m really only into QUELL. (OOT: QUELL and SolidS are usually grouped together in blind box merch. I love everyone in QUELL so my chances of getting something I like is preeeeeeeetty high, but for some reason I keep getting Shiki?! So if anyone wants Shiki merch, let me know. I have... lots.)

There was probably life-sized standees of the characters somewhere in the lobby but I couldn’t find them ;; I went to look for my seat which was on the 1st floor and quickly realised that half of my view of the stage was blocked by the speakers...grr. Couldn’t complain too much though, since I was lucky just to be there. The photos above were taken while waiting for the rest of the crowd to take their seats. In the meantime, SolidS and QUELL PV’s were played on the projection screen. Every time SolidS appeared on screen, the audience screamed lol. There was some noise for QUELL too, but definitely not as loud... I was quietly cheering for my sons in my heart ;w; Started chatting with the girl sitting next to me and found out that she was a SolidS fan (of course), and that her favourite was Dai-chan (good taste). I really wanted to give her my SolidS merch.......

About 15 minutes before the show started, the two Lizz squirrel mascots (purple for SolidS, blue for Quell) emerged on stage, dressed in sumo gear (in reference to the venue, which is usually a sumo wrestling ground), to say hi to the arena audience. They were so big and round... ;w; I was super jealous of people who had tickets for arena seats, they got to be so close to the stage!!

The lights dimmed and SolidS appeared on stage as the audience went crazy. They opened the set list with KARA DA KARA, followed by Quell’s HIKARI. My heart was about to beat out of my chest, I was just so happy to be able to see my Quell sons in the flesh ;_______; I don’t know if my seat position in relation to the speakers had anything to do with this, but I couldn’t really hear the vocals well ;_; The music was too loud and vocals sounded muffled.... Nevertheless, getting to hear the groups sing live was a magical experience.

Next, everyone came back out onto the stage for introductions and opening talk (while admiring the 360 degrees seating). I only realised this after the concert, but they were all dressed in the same clothes as the characters in the official concert art! SolidS all slick and deadly in urban monochrome outfits, and Quell looking all breezy and relaxed in loose charcoal and blue. The twins of course were wearing matching clothes, down to the accessories....... ugh... angels..... Nogami even had Ichiru’s hairstyle T_T

The Lizz squirrels popped up on stage occasionally and the cast members gave them lots of love; Takeuchi kept hugging the Quell Lizz and squeezing his tail lol (he really loves cute animals). Nishiyama and the twins took turns holding his hands or gently guiding him around the stage (family aura!!). SolidS......... grabbed their Lizz by the crotch....

Moving on to the solo performances. Shiki took the lead with Tide, followed by Tsubasa with Canaria. I wasn’t familiar with any of the songs, but i could tell that the audience loved them. I don’t particularly appreciate Eguchi and Saito’s singing styles, but they had a lot of energy and really knew how to work the crowd.

After that, it was QUELL’s turn. First to perform was of course Shu, with End of Night. Takeuchi was completely at home on stage, strutting around and engaging the audience. I was surprised that he had backup dancers and i don’t know if he was meant to know the choreograph, but he danced along with ease and at other times swayed his hips in a way that made my inner mom voice want to yell at him to behave lol (I can’t help it, he’s so young). In recordings, Shu’s vocals are bold and precise; during the concert, Takeuchi was singing as himself - messing around with the melody, using short, breathy notes, and just having lots of fun. It sounded very different from the recorded version of End of Night, but it was a great performance regardless.

Issei took to the stage to sing Hoshizora (starry sky) as the audience changed their light sticks to blue. IMO Shugo gave the most solid performance of the show. Issei’s voice was clear and powerful, but sweet and delicate at all the right moments. And he thanked us for showing him a beautiful starry sky with our light sticks T_T At this point the CD actually hadn’t been released yet so all we had was the demo. The full song was incredible. FYI, Shugo played the guitar for Hoshizora; I would’ve died if he had actually played the guitar at the concert too...

After the song, the rest of Quell joined Issei on stage. Ichiru ran STRAIGHT at Issei and gave him a tackle hug T___T I can’t deal with these two...

The next segment was SoriRaji (SolidS radio) and QueRaji (QUELL radio). Again, my memory is pretty fuzzy, but I’ve tried to jot down as much as I can remember.

Eichi was probably nervous and kept messing up his lines. The twins cheered him on together with “Eichi, faito!” godddddddd so cute ><

Question for Shu: When did you realise that the twins had opened up (to you/Quell)?

Shu: I took a nap on the sofa one day, and when I woke up I found the twins asleep next to me

Ichiru: WAAAAAAAAAAAAA DON’T SAY ANY MORE

Issei: You looked so comfortable sleeping there, we couldn't help joining in...

Ichiru: Though it was creepy waking up to find Eichi STARING at us

Eichi: I was so jealous!!! I wanted to join in but there wasn't enough space on the sofa ;_;

There was a question directed at Shu, I don't quite remember what it was but it had something to do with Shu's schedule being busier than the others and whether it was hard for them to spend time together.

Eichi: Shu's usually the first one awake and out at work before the rest of us are even out of bed.

Twins: We should try to get up earlier sometimes and have breakfast together!

Shu: *Weeps into hands* My children are precious... (#Mychildrenareprecious became the official twitter hashtag for SQP lmao)

Question for the twins: What kind of cakes do you like?

Issei: I like mille crepe and cream puffs

Ichiru: I like cream puffs too! And mont blanc, and chocolate cake, and strawberry short cake! Anything with whole strawberries on top!

Mom, dad & audience: Aww...

Ichiru: W-what?! I just like desserts with lots of cream, what's wrong with that?!!!

Shu: That's cute ^^ I don't eat a lot of sweets but if I had to pick one, it'd be rare cheese cake

Eichi: Ti. Ra. Mi. Su <3

Question for the twins: Issei, as the older sibling, have you ever wanted Ichiru to call you "oniichan?"

Issei: I’ve never really thought about it before and I don’t think that it’s necessary, but now that it’s been mentioned I kinda want to hear it...

Ichiru: .....Hear what

Issei: You calling me oniichan

Shu: I’m filming this :)

Ichiru was reluctant ofc, but after some prodding from mom and dad (and the audience)...

Ichiru: (smol voice) .....Oniichan

Shu, Eichi, Issei: *FIST PUMP*

Audience: *DEAD*

Question for everyone: If QUELL was to go on holiday together, where would you go?

Ichiru: Okinawa!! I reaaaaaaaally wanna go to Okinawa!!!

Shu: *fond dad face* Let’s go ^^

Ugh they were 1000000% Happy Family, it was the CUTEST thing to watch.... I was trying not to die from how cute the twins were and it was reassuring to see Shu also trying his best not to burst into tears whenever the twins did or said something cute (which was ALL THE TIME).

I don't remember much from SoliRaji (SolidS radio), but #PHO~! became the other designated SQP tag because Shiki kept yelling that word LOL. It started with Shiki answering a question about his favourite south east asian food or something, and his reply was Vietnamese pho ("PHOOOO~!!"). That became a running gag throughout the rest of the concert wwwww Dai answered Thai green curry :3c

And oh, in response to a question about who had the biggest hands in SolidS, all 4 pressed their hands together to compare sizes (Tsubasa and Dai even snuck in a lovers grip). Cue lots of dying screams from the audience, haha. In the end, Shiki was the largest, followed by Rikka, Dai, and Tsubasa (obviously based on the seiyuus hands, though I was surprised that Hanae’s hands were bigger than Umehara’s).

In a nutshell, Eguchi and Umehara were wrecking havoc by running their mouths, so Saito had his hands full running damage control... as usual ww

After a short break the show continued with the solo songs, starting with Rikka’s Good Night My Darling. I always enjoy hearing Hanae sing live, he has such a pretty voice! Next was Dai’s Jinsei Hard Mode. Umehara’s singing improves every time I hear it... and obviously we all know he’s ikemen, but in person he’s even more gorgeous, goddamn.

Ichiru’s Akaku Somaru Sora (red sky) was as energetic and straightforward as in the CD! Tbh i think singing as Ichiru stifles Nogami’s skills (apparent when you hear Nogami singing in his own voice, and yes, that’s Shugo next to him) but he’s great to watch live and i LOVE that he waves enthusiastically at the crowd as Ichiru!!

When it was Eichi’s turn to sing his solo, Niji (Rainbow), we were all super excited because the song’s demo isn’t even out yet, and here we got to listen to it live, in full!! It was a fun, summery pop tune, befitting its title, and the whole time Eichi was hopping around and waving at the audience with a huge smile. He really was emitting rainbows and flowers T___T Nishiyama’s not the strongest singer in QUELL, but he definitely embodies Eichi’s cheerfulness.

SolidS returned to the stage to perform Tokyo LOVE Junky, followed by Quell with Aoi Mizu. I had mixed feelings when I first listened to Aoi Mizu since it felt completely out of place on a Quell album, but i figured they probably needed at least one upbeat concert-friendly song, and sure enough it seems like Aoi Mizu was written for this purpose. It’s definitely a lot easier to shake your light stick in time with the song compared to Hikari, or even Believer ^q^

We were asked to participate in a recording for the Tsukipro anime that’s airing in October. They wanted us to yell out the characters’ names or scream “kya~!” to use during actual concert footage in the anime!!! They were only recording for SolidS in the afternoon which meant that Quell’s would get done during the night show... I wanted to be there for Quell too >< Anyway, SolidS took turns going up on stage and used hand signals to indicate when we should start/stop yelling. Each recording lasted 30 seconds iirc? The audience was happy to comply haha, we went WILD. Shiki went first, then Tsubasa. When it was Rikka’s turn, Hanae wanted some variation lol he asked us to whisper when he put his hand down, and tune up the volume as he raised his hand. It was a lot of fun, I was laughing half the time because he was contorting his body (bending over backwards etc) while moving his arm, just being a clown really. We did our best to match his hand movements and got praised for it at the end :3 Lastly, Umehara got up for Dai and his first words were “Don’t call me Dai-chan” JKSDGJLHGDFLJ CUTE he used the same system as Hanae and ofc most of us screamed “DAI-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAANNN” ^q^

The show came to a close with the obligatory event ending song Sexy☆Sense. Obviously performed by SolidS as it’s their song, but Quell stuck around to join in. There was a lot of activity on stage but I mostly kept my eyes on the twins ;w; I have to admit that SolidS’ music is not really my taste, but Sexy☆Sense is super catchy and it’s hard not to sing along. A supercharged ending to an amaaaazing concert!!!

I’ve pre-ordered the SQP DVD so that I can watch what happens in the night session >< Can’t wait!! To those of you who managed to survive my TL;DR, thank you for your patience!

Tcrow Questions

1. What part of blogging do you find the most challenging? That will be finding time to create my posts, time always seems to fly these days.

2. What tools do you use to help you write your blog posts, besides the blogging platform itself? For example, do you have a favorite tool for screen captures? That will be my tablet since my laptop broke, so we have become inseparable for all my blogging adventures. 3. Do you prefer to write episodic reviews or other features and why? I like to write about whatever interests me, might be a new episode of an anime, a new chapter of a manga I just read. Pretty much anything I think is interesting at that point in time, I love discussing or shining a light on them with anyone who reads my blog. 4. When you watch an anime series, is it easier to forgive bad plotting or bad characters and why? For me, it would have to be a bad plot there is a lot you can get away with if you have solid characters who have chemistry, and are not just two dimensional. Or no really what I mean is good characters can sell us on a bad plot. 5. If you could bring one piece of an anime series -- a magic spell, a piece of equipment, a technology, or something like that -- to our world and use it, what would it be? For me, it would have to be the Death Note.

Yes I have a little bit of a god complex... 6. If you use one of the anime database sites (Anime Planet, AniList, MyAnimeList, or some other), which is your favorite and what do you like about it? For me, it will have to be MyAnimeList cause it's easier and user-friendly to me. I find whatever I want to know about there. 7. What series in Summer 2019 (or in the next season if you get to this later) are you most looking forward to? Multiple answers are fine if you have a tie! Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Season Two, I'm really looking forward to that cause I loved season One. Also Dr Stone and Fire Force, haven't read the mangas but from what I have seen about them they should be a blast. 8. What's your favorite non-human anime character? For me, that will be Yato from Noragami, I really love his personality, he's complex yet simple. And he has big dreams and I can relate to that.

9. What anime series would you like to see get more recognition? That would be "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou" and "The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior" I think they are an amazing slice of life animes that deserve more than one season. I got really attached to the characters and they really felt like friends to me. 10. Do you have a post, or a topic, that you've tried to write many times, but couldn't? What was it about and what stopped you from finishing? For me that's a no, once I sit down I can slowly piece my ideas together. 11. Have you ever not posted something because you thought it might be too controversial? Did you change your post, cancel the post, or just let it fly? Not yet but maybe......

Objavio Hikari Questions

1. What was the first manga you read? That will be Berserk, I started after I finished the first anime of Berserk and I found out it was still going on in the manga. So that really made me start reading and I honestly prefer reading the manga cause they sometimes have to cut a lot in the anime. But anime is great cause you get to see the characters you love come to life.

2. How do you feel about ani/manga tubers ? If you like them say which one is your favorite. Misty Chronexia and a lady I don't remember her name she was the first ani-tuber that I watched she was very sarcastic and funny I loved that, can't just remember her name.

Please if you can help me name her I would love to watch her channel...... 3. What platform for games do you like the most and explain why. PlayStation cause am a PlayStation baby. But I would like to play more on PC if I can. Have my own computer gaming rig. 4. What place would you visit in Europe and why? Sweden and just cause.

5. Are you proud to be an otaku or a geek? YES!!!!!! It's allowing me to be able to do this. 6. How does your family feel about you being an otaku? They are okay with it. 7. What made you want to start a blog? Cause I liked sharing my thoughts and hearing people's opinions on anime, manga and games. Plus I like the way my words travel to places I might never get to see. The idea that people can come to my blog and get answers to questions or just meet like-minded people that share their interests, it's great.

8. Do you collect anime DVDs , manga, or anime merch? That would be Anime DVDs on my hard drive, it's my way of trying to preach the beautiful anime to non-anime fans lol. 9. In the community , do you prefer MAL or AniList? MAL I feel it has a more expressive environment. 10. What do you think is the anime any anime fan should watch? That would have to be Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior and Berserk if you can handle the gore. 11. Do you like Asian dramas ? If you do which one is your favorite? That's will be Playful Kiss, I was introduced to it by one of my friends that loves Asian dramas.
