I used “blorbo” unironically outside of tumblr
(in a round of nerds, but apparently no tumblr users)

Hey guys! I'm writing my thesis about English use on the web and what characterise most the language used here on Tumblr, so I decided to do a poll in which you have to choose whether the language used here is to be considered a dialect or a register.

Using Japanese From Zero! 1, I figured I would try to write out the words. Did I get any wrong?

Ok this is gonna be hella annoying but I'm somewhat a new tumblrina and I am not from tweeter, I'm from Pinterest, and I'm kinda lost about the tumblr native puns- could u please somehow explain the hellsite and stuff please T-T , also i love your posts
hii! first of all welcome lmaoo :))
basically the hellsite thing is like everyone on tumblr actively acknowledges that this app is a mess. idek where to begin to explain how, but the tag system is thoroughly broken...now people just do whatever they in there. and honestly the whole website usually runs on vibes
it crashes when something happens in any fandom that is popular on here, some of which are incredibly niche
all in all it's a hellsite, it's not carefully curated and pretty stuff like instagram. but at the same time it's not obnoxious takes and hatred like twitter...which is why hellsite (affectionate)
this whole trend of adding stuff in brackets making an oxymoron is a meme. for eg: your fav morally grey character would be, murderer (affectionate)....if that makes sense 😭
anyways as i said, it takes some time but you figure out the jokes and memes. if you have any questions feel free to ask :)))

Latim/Français/Português Brasileiro/日本語/English
Latim: Salve! Hodie primus dies latine scribo hic in tumblr. Ego Inceptor, tamen multa errata faciam. Per singulas noctes, volo latim studere, ad finem anni.
Français: Salut! Aujoud'hui je vais voyager avec mes amis. On y va chercher autre maison.
English: I'm procastinating instead of doing a simple thing. Post my videos on youtube. I recorded one video about what I learned after speaking japanese during 30 days on tiktok, but I didn't edit it. Frankly, there are a lot of things going on, I hope I can figure out how to deal with all this mess until the end of this year.

Worst part about speaking in tumblr is that no one knows that I’m speaking in tumblr. It all comes out as nonsense and eventually everyone concludes that I just really like shaking and crying rn

Ok so like, tumblr culture wise, how's a comment different from adding some text under a reblog?

i was looking into it and the grey area between dialects and languages is such that “online-speak” could be considered either one, but is probably in the middle. It is based on mutually intelligible language widely (english), but it can still be incoherent to someone who doesn’t know the culture surrounding it. idk it’s very cool

you never realize how much tumblr alters even your most basic conversational vernacular and I don't mean "that's my blorbo" level discourse I mean I made the comment "oh that is an entire human man" around someone who is very offline and they went "😂😂😂 What? An entire human? LOL!"
