Do u think TWST has religion??? I don't think any character has talked about their faith before except mb Rollo? But I haven't seen his event so idk if the church and Christianity was ever mentioned there
Religion is heavily mentioned by the fandom in regards to Rollo given the source material he is based off of, but he himself is not religious and religion is never mentioned through the entirety of GloMas's story. While twst certainly has gods (the king of the underworld is specifically mentioned as one) it does not seem to have what a western audience would recognize as a form of organized religion. Not every religion has the same goal, that might be a weird sounding statement but it's true! Not every religion focuses on the salvation of a soul or the forgiveness of sins like Christianity does, most eastern religions don't and since that's where twisted wonderland is being written I think it makes sense to not expect there to be Western styled religion there.
In the case of the setting itself, I think they see gods as powerful beings that govern the laws of nature but not something they worship in an organized way. There also seems to be some disconnect over whether or not the gods are still around. It is fairly common in Japanese fantasy for there to have been an "age of gods" where magic was wildly powerful that ended with the death or retreat of those gods when magic began to fade. In some cases that magic fades entirely... which is something I do wonder about how Twisted Wonderland would handle σ( ̄、 ̄=)

Mer Mafia Comedic Smut Thoughts? Kinda?
>Minors and ageless DNI<
I can't stop thinking about the fact that mer people obviously have internal genitalia and humans have external like... You look at the mer mafia boys and they flat, which suggests their bits are inside them. So, what the fuck was going through their minds the first time they were in human forms?
You know the three of them were so awkward with having their dick and balls dangling from them. Them learning how to walk is one thing but learning how to have a dick? You KNOW they sat on their balls multiple times. Also, the first time they got hit in the balls. I wonder how that went.
Another thing is the hijinks. Floyd helicopter dicks whenever he's bored and I can see Jade doing it to from time to time. Those tik tok videos where its the clapping sound thing and the joke is it's someone dick being swung around: that is Floyd. Side note: Floyd doesn't wear underwear. You cannot convince me otherwise.
I will say though I'm pretty sure eels can change sex like some other marine life which I think is a funny thought for human form. Jade and Floyd just deciding if they going with dangling bits or an extra hole.
Also, the fact like... fish really only have one exit hole. The don't got a seperate system for piss and shit so that had to be hilarious dealing with that. Even if they knew ahead of time that they'd have seperate holes. Peeing for the first time in human form must have been interesting. I think Azul may sit because of that because it's just easier. Floyd is a stander. Jade I can see either way. And now this has me thinking how the hell do toilets work for mer people... How the fuck do they deal with waste? Also where is Azul's butthole? I assume it is where an octopus's mouth usually is because I don't see a siphon which is hilarious to me.
Idk I just needed to share because brain goes brrrr mer dick

Half-merfolk Idia/Ortho & The Island of Woe
⚠️(Book 6 minor spoilers)⚠️
Tumblr media
Within the game, we see many different kinds of people: humans, beastmen, fae, and merfolk. Sebek is canonically half human and fae, and as a result he does not have pure fae traits (no pointed ears).
Idia Shroud (& Ortho) are who I want to focus on. Other students seem to identify him as human, but he has some very inhuman traits like his “shark” teeth and bright, yellow eyes. (Edit:) His lip color and eye bags are also natural and not cosmetics.
Though other human characters have sharp teeth, Idia’s are far more exaggerated than any human or beastman’s fangs. The only people with teeth like him are Jade and Floyd, who are merfolk.
While many other humans have unnatural eye colors too, Idia’s yellow eyes are yet another thing he has in common with the Leech brother’s. (But this is a weak link since Jack, Chenya, Cheka, & Trey also have yellow eyes).
These similarities made me begin to wonder if Idia perhaps had some merfolk ancestry, but 2 things in common are not much proof. Now though with the release of book 6, we’ve been provided with some supporting points.
(Spoilers start here) In book 6, we finally got to see the Island of Woe, Idia’s homeland. It’s a completely submerged, secret city beneath the sea.
The Island is from the time of the gods, thousands of years old, and still has architectural remnants from that time to prove it. While it may be possible to hide such an enormous structure from the above world, it would be harder to hide an underwater city from merfolk for millennia.
STYX does have the ability to erase memories, but if merfolk run into this city often, it would be easier to instead work with a select group of merfolk who are in he know and have them keep others away. These merfolk could also make ideal workers for outside the dome, especially before technology made underwater travel easier.
STYX and the Island of Woe are an insular community. If they consistently live near/work with merfolk over the course of thousands of years, I imagine those relationships would result in many hybrids. With the mixing of species over this long time period, and with the community remaining small and seldom getting newcomers, then the Island would almost form its own new species of half human/merfolk; most of the population (of not everyone) would have some percentage of mer ancestry.
This would explain why Idia, who’s family has lived here since the start of the city, has unusually sharp teeth and yellow eyes. He would generations of merfolk ancestry that doesn’t get very watered down, resulting in prevalent merfolk traits.
This same logic can apply to other nations. Countries seem to often have primarily one species, like mostly human (Scalding Sands), beastman (Sunset Savanna), or fae (Briar Valley). Others, like the Queendom of Roses, are implied to have a fairly diverse populace.
This could suggest that characters with pointed teeth are descendants of non-human races, which I think could be fun to play with. Here’s a chart by @twiceasfrustrating on what teeth characters have!
Headcanon: Hair and Eye Colors
Getting more into headcanon territory, I do think that it would be cool if the more inhuman hair and eye colors were a result of magic. Even if mages are rare, the world is certainly full of magic. That alone is probably enough to irradiate people with magic and cause some fun changes in their physiology.
Finally, as a disclaimer, I know it’s likely that the only reason Idia and Ortho have sharp teeth and other inhuman features is because they are twisted from Hades who did as well, but I like to think that their homeland is more dynamic and caused their unusual looks. I also mostly talked about Idia since Ortho is a robot (even if he’s based on a real person) and his features might not be accurate to his true appearance, and I didn’t bring up the hair since that’s explicitly stated as part of the Hades curse.

Fan-Made Countries
I enjoy worldbuilding, it never gets boring. The two countries here are both based on the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale, and in my Storykeeper AU, the forgotten kingdom my OC Fayde is from split into these.
♤♡---◇♧
Wolf Woods
No exact cultural inspiration.
One of the wildest countries in current day Twisted Wonderland, most of it is made up of the dark woods. Where thieves and monsters and unspeakable things lurk. There aren't anymore cities in the country than when it first started, but they've expanded in size. Beastmen species consist of animals inhabiting forests and swamps mostly, though wolves outnumbered the others. Beastmen and animal. It's assumed that the children of the Big Bad Wolf declared themselves the rulers.
In the Wolf Woods, the succession of the throne doesn't rely on who was born first like most other places. No- it all depends on who is the strongest and most cunning. When the country was still new, the fights between heirs could get deadly. Yielding was not accepted, they wanted to come out on top or die trying. A few centuries back though it was finally organized: challenges would be judged by several people (in case they needed to literally pull the heirs off of each other), and the general consensus was that once someone was pinned, they lost. End of story, the victor is named the first heir. Once they're coronated, challenges cease. Not everyone always accepted this, obviously, but... another story, another time.
They twisted the Big Bag Wolf into: the Forest Guardian. A wolf who patrolled the forest trails day and night despite the dangers. He would find those who had wandered from the path and guide them safely to the forest's edge no matter what monsters crossed their path.
♤♡---◇♧
Red Towers
No exact cultural inspiration.
Much smaller than Wolf Woods, with only about eight villages in all, this is where the humans scared of the dark woods after what happened to Red Riding Hood retreated. They cut down the trees, burned the plants, and drove out anything and everything that they feared with torches, pitchforks, and spears. Their country was built on the foundation of fear, hate, and superstition.
The country gained its name from the watchtowers built along the border. Walls were built between the towers overtime out of their fear for the world beyond. They've isolated themselves for so long that technology, morals, and such are extremely outdated and old fashioned.
There is no one and only ruler in Red Towers. Every town has their leader. Some sort of elder or trusted figurehead. Those leaders meet and make the laws and such. (Has Twisted Wonderland explicitly mentioned any countries that aren't monarchies...? I can't remember)
They haven't twisted the Red Riding Hood story, so the huntsman is their 'Great'. Even in modern day though, tensions with the Wolf Woods is very real. As far as they care, they're the same as all those years ago and it's only a matter of time until history repeats.
♤♡---◇♧
I don't know why I'm so nervous about posting this. Anyway- I tried to make the vague ideas in my head make some sort of sense written out. I feel like Leona wishes Sunset Savanna had inheritance laws like the Wolf Woods.

So one of my twst ocs is a man named Biene Belle who goes to RSA, and I hate him. His character is a play on beauty and the beast, being a wonderfully handsome and charismatic young man who’s very open about looking for someone to love. He’s kind and outgoing, a lot like Niege in that he’d be nice to hang out with… and it’s not exactly a lie…
Born and raised in a noble family, he hasn’t been told “no” enough as a child, and has an almost unnoticeable superiority complex, and is subtly racist and classist, but he tends to phrase it in a way that seems helpful or concerned.
Biene Belle will flaunt his wealth in the same way Kalim does, acting oblivious and air-headed, but unlike Kalim he's not going to offer anyone riches or money. if he gifts you something its going to be of a lower quality than if he bought it for himself.
he'll offer his academic help to beast- and merfolk more often than to human students and will speak slower and simpler while speaking to them as well. he will often avoid speaking to fae or touching anyone who isn't human.
the arguably worst part of his character is how predatory he is. he'll use his kindness and gentle seeming nature to gather people who are loyal or committed to him because he helped them somehow. they'll defend him and do what he asks with little to no interest in Biene's reasoning.
this predatory nature extends to his "search for love". when he finds someone he wants to "love," will not let them go. he will buy them gifts and take them on expensive trips and feed them good food and basically do anything to coerce them into staying with him, whilst simultaneously attempting to make them solely dependant on him.
if they don't fall for Biene's "affections" it only gets worse. poisoning food to make them weak, setting up accidents and injuries to keep them in his care, and deliberately housing them in the most labyrinthine part of his mansion home.
Biene Belle comes finds Lazarus in the woods (post-first year NRC, post-missing incident), and falls in "love". he finds it odd that Lazarus fights harder than others before him for their independence, and it eventually ends with Lazarus in the mansion's basement in shackles. it is during Lazarus' escape that Biene gives him his signature facial scar. Bien thinks his escape is unfortunate but ultimately thinks that Lazarus would die without him, so it doesn't seem of consequence to him.
Lazarus does survive, though, and now has a new and severe fear of humans.
see, Lazarus is a selkie (remind me to post about them), and selkies have an unfortunate history with humans that, while no longer happening in current day (officially, it is illegal, but it arguably still occurs), selkie trafficking was once a prominent and lucrative business. selkies were seen as "lesser fae," easier to capture and control than fae, but still just as beautiful, perfect for concubines or sex slaves.
Lazarus knows this. he knows this very well. and so from his perspective, Biene Belle took him, tried to unmake him, turn him into an object for his personal use. it wasn't just being held captive, it was constantly under threat of being sexually violated, despite Biene not actually having that intention.
Biene Belle does not know of the gruesome history between humans and selkies, he genuinely wanted to take care of Lazarus but his extremely twisted way of showing affection had Lazarus assuming the worst.
Lazarus absolutely despises Biene Belle, as well as RSA overall making him prickly as a result of Biene Belle wearing his RSA uniform/apparel quite often. He knows, logically, that not everyone is going to be like Belle, but its an instinctive reaction to associate the RSA coat of arms with his SA trauma.

Cutesy little making up twst lore time. okay, so there are an infinite amount of gods in the skies--they reside in a separate realm, much like the spectral realm, but some gods are able to shift into the mortal realm. gods who enter the mortal realm cannot be seen by mortals, and they also cannot return to the realm of the gods--even if they leave by accident, they're permanently locked into the mortal realm. gods have two forms, their divine form also called their Divinity, which is where they have their full powers, and cannot be seen by any mortal or immortal, unless the person is a god, or on a similar power level of a god. their other form, known as their reduced form, or their Devotion, is basically they limit their power to their magical aura--so the area around them directly is thick with magical energy/magical presence, but they can only access this magic by drawing upon it when their own magic reserves run low. so they basically limit themself to a mortal body with decreased power, but their body now can interact with the environment properly and mortals can see them. when in Divinity, gods cannot properly interact with the environment--they can, however, choose a 'champion' among mortals. this champion, once chosen, will allow the god to sort of fuse their auras and interact with the environment IF their champion is close to or touching the object, but if the god has enough will and is desperate enough, they can interact with farther enough objects. interaction with the environment includes mainly just moving some things around, or writing, or making a smaller object appear out of thin air, mainly because too much would cause mortals to be aware of them. gods with champions don't want this because they can be exorcized via accessible methods--in fact, most people who complain of a ghost or spirit or the such haunting them, was just a particularly mischievous god who chose the mortal as their champion, and if they were exorcized, the god would not be able to interact with the environment unless they entered Devotion. the problem with entering Devotion is that it takes a tremendous amount of energy and magic to maintain this form, so gods use it sparingly and limitedly--and it isn't as fun, being in a mortal body, as they feel weaker and aren't used to the scarcity of magical energy in their body--as a god, they have a practically unlimited amount of magic and they can steal/use magic from the environment, but as a mortal they are limited to the magic surrounding them and the little amount of magic inside their little mortal body/vessel; though the magic contained in their mortal form/when they are in Devotion is not a little amount when compared to mortal standards, it is a LOT when you compare it to the average like person. oh yeah about the champion stuff, basically a god can enhance their champion's performance, magic wise, by fusing their auras together, so it's a give and take--the god gets to interact with the mortal world, and the champion gets to become stronger. most champions don't know there is a literal god attached to them, like 99.9% of them don't, and once a god has chosen a champion, they cannot separate from the champion until said champion dies. often, a god kills their companion when the companion gets too old, so they can find a new one to attach themself to. gods have different specialties, which basically form the basis of their powers and jobs, they all have unique, or mostly unique magics and powers, this also determines which kind of magic they are strong and weak in, meaning there might be some spells that a god is really bad at that mortals can perform flawlessly, but the spells they are strong in can't be beaten by any mortal. gods have a super-specialty in a specific type of magic--this strength can either be broad like water magic/elemental magic, or very niche and narrow, like influencing people to make a decision, except it's only yes or no questions and only if the person will mildly inconvenience themself in the process.
“Can a mortal access the divine realm?”
HMM no there isnt a way for mortals to access the divine realm its like an alternate universe no one has figured out yet, but there is a barrier in certain, dangerous spots that no mortals can get close to which serves as the doorway out from the divine realm to the mortal realm, mortals with powers similar or close to a god's can sense the barrier, just slightly, like they can feel the magic, but they can't see it or cross over
“How do mortals react to finding places with barriers?”
OOO i bet these are places deemed as "haunted" because the magic is especially concentrated around there, and this causes people to have reactions to it, like magical allergic reactions. this is because the magic there is the closest thing to magic in the divine realm, and it makes mortals break out into metaphorical magical rashes--they find themself more tired and drained when they use spells, they find themself feel heavier, and more sluggish, and their magic randomly spills out in uncontrolled, more powerful bursts which leaves them on the verge of collapse, so no one lives there--it's all barren, esp since no one is powerful enough to figure out *why,* so people just chalked it up to a hostile environment and ran away unless they were some researchers who had to figure out. funnily enough, if there were people living there, they were all non-magical because the barrier has little effect on them, but most people don't live there due to all the bad things which happened when people tried to live here
“What makes a god unable to return to the divine realm”
UHHH it's just sort of like OKAY HOW ABOUT THIS gods cant go back to the divine realm afterward because the magic in the divine realm is much more condensed and stronger, but once a god enters the mortal realm, the magic scatters and becomes way weaker and like less dense. to cross past the barrier separating the divine and mortal realm, a god would have to figure out how to re-condense their magic into it's original state in the divine realm, but this is impossible because it takes too much strain and would just be fruitless, the god cannot pull this off in Divinity or Devotion, lets also say they get weaker in the mortal realm as a natural check and balance--if they were TOO strong then the mortal realm could easily be destroyed by them or another unchecked god
"HOW HARD IS IT TO SWITCH BETWEEN THE FORMS"
I THINK I SAID LATER ON but it's pretty hard so they cant maintain the form for long bc they have to compress their magic into their mortal vessel/form and that sucks for them BDIHUJE
THE DIVINE REALM IS IS SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THE SPECTRAL REALM WITH IT HAS ITS OWN CIVILIZATION AND STUFF ITS LIKE MORTAL SOCIETY BUT MORE POWERFUL AND WITH DIFFERENT POLITICS AND SHIT
“Why would a god want to go to the mortal realm”
HMMMM i guess like freedom from the politics and life of the divine realm, a lot of gods honestly fall there by accident by getting too close to a tear in the divine realm which is a portal to the mortal realm that can be set as a trap by an enemy or someone who wants to get rid of you, they can be caused by using too much magic as well of feelings of wanting to escape from the divine realm by a god, which it's magic uses to tear the divine realm so the god can run away. the tears are like black holes--they have an INCREDIBLY strong magical pull, and they drag gods into them, regardless if the god wants to or not, and like barely any gods can escape from them. tears can spawn randomly and naturally, without being physically made. some gods make tears to join their friends/family who either fell into the mortal realm by accident or were tricked or willingly went there. falling into the mortal realm is sort of a like something rarely any god wants to do, unless they were already isolated from divine society

Kanaloa (Harry), In Depths
Before life rose above the waters, there was what dies in waters.
Some notes before the actual origin story:
Kanaloa is intended to be Harry's original name. Harry is the name that he now goes by on land.
The name Kanaloa in real life refers to a Hawai'ian god. I myself am not of Native Hawai'ian origin nor would I claim to be familar with Hawai'ian mythology, though I tried my best to research what I could for this OC. I'm welcome to make any changes, should my interpretation come off as disrespectful in anyway.
The italics refer to the actual god, and the normal text refers to the OC.
They call him Kanaloa. So his name, then, shall be Kanaloa.
This is how language works: a name is a gift, a label, or a choice. Sometimes it is everything at once. For him, the nuance matters not. Nuance is about intent - all returns to the same meaning in the end.
Kanaloa, in his native tongue, translates closest to the old “overseer of the depths”. The depiction of him is never the same; at times Kanaloa is an octopus, other times a squid. He is closest to the latter, some odd hybrid of humboldt squid and merman. So that is what it means, when the others in the community extol him with this name; it is one worn by history, an ancient magic humming with brine.
On land, as Kanaloa will learn someday, he is known as an old god. Sometimes in textbooks, he is a dead god. What the land never mentions is that Kanaloa, too, is a god of land, creator of that which rises above the tides and a blesser of life. It doesn’t matter. The land has rewritten Kanaloa with fresher gods, new conquering the old.
But for now he is Kanaloa, and he still lives, 8 abnormal limbs and 2 tentacles and aquatic horror all yet to divulge frigid ocean secrets. Merfolk beyond the northern coral seas are not rare, per say, though certainly uncommon. Oceanic population densities beyond coral waters are low, and the innate instincts which beget a cannibalistic nature certainly don’t help. They may hunt together. Nevertheless, friends and family and their friends and children will all greet death at his hands. In the depths, all relations can be rewritten.
Kanaloa does not pray to his own name. That is not what saves him. He saves himself.
He is not big. Not yet, maybe not ever. Still, what he lacks in muscle he makes up for in length, limbs long and tentacles longer. For now he lives on the sum of what mercies he finds, too lacking in fat to be eaten by hungrier siblings and too potent with magic to be worth the effort for a predator he can’t handle. Water is heavy and magic heavier, but gravity is not the same as it is in the air. Nobody falls freely - everyone sinks, when succumbing to the chasmic force. It is a fight for survival, to fight for the right to live, and fight the current to be able to swim.
He is prudent in his prayers. He is thankful for nothing. Kanaloa thus thanks the entire ocean, an empty hell to all merfolk. There is nothing to pray for. There is nothing at all, just water and more water, and apathy so thick it chokes on salt. There were gods in the waters and there are corpses that survived, for what old gods endured the lasting deep are no longer present among the modern, common mer societies.
Time-keeping in the ocean is not hard. There remains light in the twilight zone, and their kind has always revolved culture around light. When it is dark, they migrate closer to the surface. When the light returns, they go back to the abyss.
Their own lights, flickering between red and a dense transparency, are the intrinsic language of his kind. These lights grant him his name, Kanaloa. The same lights cycle through life, and grant Kanaloa an everlastivity. Time is not equal across the world, and time feeds Kanaloa the pitcher of itself. He watches everyone around him die in due time, and watches their children survive and perish. Kanaloa becomes something of a legend in his community when he outlives them all. He matures fast and grows faster, longer, and never seems to die, even with age making him all the more attractive to feast upon.
He is not a god. Kanaloa may have been a god, but faith loses significance in a world where gods are real. The incantation of disbelief is not a choice which can be made when a god cannot be denied existence.
Kanaloa is, now, some variety of squid merman. He is some age and someday, he will come out of the water to greet the land that his name’s god had once shaped. Magic will course through him in ways that it never can beneath ocean skin, and he will learn to manipulate it in all the ways that he never could before.
That is not now. There remains an expanse which we all must cross before reaching the shores from where Kanaloa will stand, on an isle - touched by the marvel of ripe gods - encroaching on the land Kanaloa never made, a vessel of magic and ink ready to burst.

TWST Headcanon
Shaftlands
So in the Japanese Shaftlands is 輝石の国, Kiseki no Kuni. Smth like the country of pyroxene. A silicate mineral.
It's a large country with many regions of various cultures.
The characters that live there are: Vil, Epel, Cater, Jack. Plus, two professors: Trein and Vargas.
Vil and Epel
They both are connected with the Snow White fairy tale, it's of German origin, written by Brothers Grimm
Vil's last name is German origin as well. Schoenheit › Schönheit, beauty + -ness
Epel's last name, however, has french origin, from Old-French Fermier, lease-holder. Farmer in modern English.
We will talk about french later.
Mozus Trein
Mozus is the Latin version of the Hebrew name. It's Moses in the English version. His last name is a shortning from the 'Lady Tremaine, as per my guess. Seeing how he is based on her. It's a Cornish last name.
He comes from Cinderella. Originally it was about a Greek slave girl who married the king of Egypt.
The first literary version was Italian. However, I will note, that one of the popular versions is by Brothers Grimm. Yet again them.
Cater, Jack
Miraheze wiki says that Cater is an alternative for French word four or quieter. I will note, also, that Cater's family moves a lot bc of their father's job.
Jack, as miraheze suggested, could be after Jack London, bc of his novel about White Fang. It's an American novelist.
Ashton Vargas
The name Ashton is of English origin. Vargas is a Spanish last name. Miraheze also suggested the Lithuanian word 'vargas' that meant foe or enemy. They do not cite their reasoning behind choosing lith. noun and not an actual last name, so I'm not really inclined to count it.
He is based on Gaston, whose name could be both French and German origin. Yeah, the setting of Beauty and the Beast is a French village, some of his trophies animals are not native. Maybe he is not from there?
‎ ‎
With that we already got two German stories. And a lot of English as for me.
English is called the Common language (I'm fairly sure it's canon. If not, then it's part of the headcanon).
So I headcanon Shaftlands as a country with two official languages: English and German.
Obviously, it's not called German there. It's Pyrolytisch (Sprache).
And in that language the country is called Pyroland.
(Pyro is not read as 'pairo', but as pi:ro)
And about French? Well, I'll do it in a post about Sunset Savanna, French and Rook

Something I've been wondering is if Yuu has a baby with one of the mer boys, will the kid also need a potion to change from fishy to leg haver, or will them having a human parent means they would be able to do so without it. I've also been wondering if a human has a kid with one of the beast boys, will the kid have a tail and ears no matter what? I feel like in general their genetics are probably stronger than humans.
I think it would depend on several factors, and considering I barely pass bio my sophomore year in uni, I'm gonna combine a bit of Google and pulling shit out of thin air for some reasoning.
It would seem that most of the creatures in Twisted Wonderland take on a mostly human appearance in some form or fashion, with merfolk having the most extreme difference. I would argue that non-human features, such as bright hair and eye colors, teeth type/shape, ears type/shape, and extra body limbs such as horns, tails, as well as physical evidence of curses/blessings.
For merfolk though, having such vastly different features, it would depend on a few other factors as well:
I imagine that whether they're in human or merform would be a large factor in what genes get passed down. Looking at Ariel and Melody in the second movie, Melody was only passed down human traits. She also didn't turn into a mermaid until she had magical assistance. So most likely, if Azul or the twins decided to have children in their human forms, their children would turn out completely human with a higher change of inheriting their hair color, teeth, and other mer traits.
However, if they were to have the kid while in their merform, I'm inclined to believe that they would take after them and their merforms. I like to think that in this case, their children would be able to transform into their mer and human forms at will without a potion, unlike full-merfolk. Transfiguration spells and potions are highly restricted according to some lines from Azul and Jack in their vignettes, so it would be most beneficial for a family blended between the land and sea.
Alternatively, if they were approved to get a transfiguration spell or potion for Yuu to permanently turn into a mer, then the child would be full mer. In that case, there's another discussion to be hand about which mer-traits are dominant/recessive.
For the beastmen, it's significantly less complicated:
Beastmen traits are going to be dominant, so any of the Savanaclaw boys will find that their children will take after them. It's not only the ears, canine, and tail that remain, but the vibrant eye and hair colors as well! Why do you think so many of the humans in Twisted Wonderland still find themselves with brilliant, unnatural-natural hair and eye colors? Beastmen-human families are incredibly common and have been throughout history. Even when those descendants have their own children and the more obvious ears and tails are lost, you have to wonder a little where those sharper teeth and nails come from. Where does the pretty green, perfect for blending into forest foliage, or white, clean and pretty like the snow, come from in their family line?
It's gotta be from somewhere, generations ago, right? And that's not even touching on fae traits…

Have you answered any questions about how overblots work in the monster au? What if Yuu gets hurt during an overblot??
I did, actually! In this post right here, someone asked how overblots worked and whether or not it would affect their appearances. This was early on in the AU when I first answered it, so I may end up creating a post going a little more in-depth with how overblots affect each AU in general. 🤔 (hint: one of these AU's is going to be more traumatic than the other in terms of how blot/phantoms work óvò)
One thing I didn't cover, however, is how it actually works in line with the game's story. After all, the researchers are pretty active around NRC as it is, so word about overblots happening would spread faster than you can blink. And the moment they realize that Yuu/Reader/MC is present during each event...hoo boy, I can imagine them threatening to take Yuu away from the school to keep Twisted Wonderland's first and only known human specimen safe!
It's going to take a LOT of persuasive arguments on the staff's part (and of course, human stubbornness in general) to get them to reverse their decision. In all honesty, the fact that Yuu would have pack bonded so strongly to any of the students (and vice versa) to the point that both sides would fight to protect each other...this winds up providing an unintentional opportunity to study the connection between monsters and humans.
And what a discovery it was.
Given that these guys are monsters--more inclined to react to instinct and aggression--it would be no surprise that their overblot forms would be twice as dangerous as they are in both the game and the manga version of Heartslabyul's chapter with Yuuken. They still speak, yet their voice is tinged with unnatural snarls and growls amidst the undertone. It seems as though nothing can stop them in their tracks. Nothing...
Except one human.
They're far from home and alone, and yet they feel such compassion for those not their own species. Compassion for those in pain and distress. Compassion to put themselves in danger to help their friends...and somehow...
They break through.

How or why this is possible, no one knows. Perhaps it is some hidden form of magic that's unique to humans? Or perhaps the connection between humans and monsters is stronger than initially thought. It is something that must be studied further...

“—The last thing I remember was getting punched.” Yuu rubbed her chin, where the Smeargle had struck her. “And getting Sleep Powdered, and then I was out like a light.”
“Sleep Powder— That is a Pokémon Move, am I correct?”
“Yeah, that’s right,” she explained, pleased to elaborate, “It makes the target fall asleep immediately on contact. I can’t believe I slept for four days straight, though! Thank goodness your dorm leader came in when he did. I’ll have to thank him if I ever see him.”
“My… dorm leader,” he repeated with a strange look on his face, like he couldn’t follow.
“You know, Malleus Draconia? I remember seeing lightning before I fell asleep.” It was a shame that she didn’t get to see the man for himself. It didn’t help that when Cater enthused about him, he only talked about how powerful that guy was, and nothing about what he looked like at all.
“Ah, of course. Him.” Tsunotarou smiled coyly, and try as she might, she couldn’t decipher what it meant. “I will be sure to pass on your words. I’m sure he will appreciate it.”
“Yeah, I bet all the other Heartslabyul students are grateful too, not just me,” Yuu nodded with certainty. She worried her bottom lip as the contents of the dream from earlier that morning resurfaced. “But I do wish he took a little bit easier on the poor thing.”
He stared at her, obviously not expecting her to say such a thing. “Oh? I was under the impression that retaliation against the creature was justified.”
“I mean, it is,” she said, crossing her arms, “But Cater-senpai— oh, that’s one of my friends, by the way— He told me that your dorm leader, quote en quote, practically fried the Smeargle to death. Apparently, it fainted on the spot.”
“That is… true, I heard,” he supposed, his brows knitting together ever so slightly. “Are you, perhaps, resentful of him?”
“Ah— no, of course not! Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for your dorm leader, I really am.” Yuu waved her hands defensively. “But I think striking its neck would be just as effective, you know? I mean, who would electrocute a Smeargle like that?”
“Ah… Indeed. How crass of him,” he nodded in agreement, his eyes narrowing and his smile widened, “Perhaps… my dorm leader did go a little too far.”

The Twisted Prophecy: Code of Fire

The infamous socialite of Roseclan! Hareskip is well known across the forest for his chipper attitude and bright ginger fur. Together with Roseclan's deputy Cloverpatch they act as mediators for disputes with other clans, as well as the rumored infighting happening within the bushes of Roseclan camp.

OK OK, i know i just posted about my au yesterday but i'm really on a roll with these designs. I kinda have an idea on what i'm actually doing so this post is MUCHHH more polished than poor riddle's. I think I might redo his once i get through the other heartslabyulers.
but yeah CATer!! i hit him with the kittyfication beam. He looks like a little cutie pie. I wanted him to look kinda bunny-ish, since in his beta design he had rabbit ears, so bunny!cater for the win i guess!!! Of course i had to put in his little fang in there too, couldn't pass up that opportunity. He's just really cute and i think he deserves a gold star sticker.
i've created Roseclan's little clan icon thing. stiilll not sure how i feel about it so it may or may not change in the upcoming posts. i'll figure it out. shoutout to riddle's coffin icon.
anyways, let's talk a little about Roseclan's territory and clan life! I think it's pretty neat. I imagine Roseclan's territory is pretty comparable to Thunderclan in the original books, except with lots of flower bushes. Not necessarily the typical roses that they have in Heartslabyul (I don't think those grow naturally in the wild??) but maybe like wild roses!
Tumblr media
Somewhere on the far-end of territory there's a twoleg neighborhood that grows ACTUAL roses, and patrols will go there from time to time to hunt the critters those roses attract. Think rabbits, mice, and (less conventionally) bugs! Roseclan cats eat the caterpillars they find in roses as a good luck sort of thing, much to the disgust of other clans.
I loved the tidbits of world-building Warriors had so of course i'm gonna jam pack my AU with these little details. Overall I'm really excited to start really getting into this whole thing and sharing it with the rest of y'all!
well thats all i've got folks, have some little doodles of hareskip for the road.
