To be honest I feel a bit bad about Alex like how hard must it be to have that sort of brother.

i mean. putting it into context, it's the same brother who allowed alex to just do whatever the fuck he wanted to (affectionate) his whole life. without marc, alex' motorsport career would look very much different, as in, he did have the privilege of being marc's brother, having marc's connections, riding for marc's old teams and not losing those seats until he achieved. no, roser and julia never made marc do anything, but yes, it was marc's success which allowed them the financial freedom of... well, everything. marc became the quote unquote breadwinner of their family as a teenager, and he is the reason their family enjoys the quote unquote status they do. being a marquez was not always easy, true, but it is not the worst thing in the world, i dare say, to enjoy the benefits while not having to shoulder the same burdens that marc has to.

that said, well. yeah. marc IS a hyper-competitive asshole. marc IS an unprecedented talent and a complete psycho where it comes to riding. marc IS particular and peculiar. marc and alex very very obviously and judging by many, many things have a very clear understanding of who, between them, is the fucking superstar and for a reason! and who is. well. alex. it's quite... frank. they seem very open about it between them. alex has no illusions about marc. and as long as alex does not MIND this - and he doesn't seem to! - who are we to mind? yes, marc is better than him, by margins incredible. but marc is better than anyone by margins incredible, even the best of the rest. it is no INSULT to lose out to someone like marc. in fact, i dare say alex has learned so much from marc across the years he would, again, not be the rider he is even now.

i do need to watch all in for a better understanding and grasp on their relationship but the primary emotion i feel subsisting between them is love with a capital l. alex loves marc more than anything, and marc loves alex more than anything, and i think all the things that happened to marc across the years of his career only made that love and their bond stronger, because at some point it maybe did feel a little like alex is the only person in the world that marc can just be himself around and alex took that, even the bad parts, because marc took so much himself.

and while alex might sometimes feel like the people around them do not appreciate him enough (which is not exactly marc's fault!!! and he knows that!!! it's not marc who is asking for the attention!!! at least not exactly), i think between them there is an honesty that simply allows them to exist without bitterness. marc is marc, and alex loves him exactly as he is. and im glad for it.

to be eclipsed by the sun... how tragic can it be when it lights your way and warms you whole?

i didn't rlly like the ruby's mother reveal because I get how they're doing the whole "oh this woman who was made out to be really important turns out to be just some ordinary gal" thing but we have done that before, probably a good couple of times, and I wanted something interesting... just felt anticlimactic rlly
