Esme: okay so I found this guy on the tv that makes italian food?

Rosalie: how the fuck are we just assuming she’s italian because her name is Bella?

Carlisle: guys where’s that couch thing for the living room?

Alice: Can we learn to play some kind of American sport in the next 20 minutes?

Emmett: How are we going to *serve* this food?? WE DON’T HAVE PLATES.

Got a gathering coming up with a few friends soon here, and want to get some dishes and snacks together for them to help with recovery. Any ideas/recommendations? (Bonus points if you have a site/cookbook/whatever)

Have two of these containers in the freezer right now. Frozen isn't ideal buuuuut I'm on my butchers calling list for next time lol

Some vampire bat traits I think would be fun to give vampires to help make them more interesting. Lets be honest vampires are sometimes too human or too perfect... I also think looking at real hematophageous (blood diet) animals and applying their evolutionary quirks to vampires makes them more fun.

Grooved tongues. These are of course for collecting blood, but I know you are thinking of alternative uses for that information.

No enamel on the fangs. This will make them sharp but super sensitive especially to cold substances.

Vampire bats share blood with their roostmates who return unsuccessfully. I want to see vampires fussing over each other to make sure they are well fed.

Vampire bats have fewer bitter/sweet taste receptors. Please consider blood tasting like a vampire's favorite protein instead of wine or overly sweet. This also explains why vampires overindulge in wine, chocolate and other luxury foods.

But vampire bats produce less insulin because they don't consume high amounts of sugar. So I'd like you to consider vampires having to be mindful of their sweets intake because diabetes is a concern. Vampires metabolize blood no matter if you consider them undead or not.

Vampire bats separate the fluid from the nutrients when they drink blood and then ditch the fluid. This prevents them from becoming overfull/bloated. Yes vampires are going to have to use the toilet shortly after feeding. That's an excessive amount of fluid to be carrying all night.

Me when writing any sad vampire character ever:

Set out originally to make a simple hot chocolate, before getting sidetracked and finding a recipe for an orange-chocolate custard, Sanguinaccio dolce!

The original recipe makes a TON of it, so me and my girlfriend scaled it back to see how we liked it. I fucked up by not stirring it enough while it was thickening so parts of it came out a little more clotted then the rest

(Don't ask me why the tiny bowl was used for photos instead of the actual functional ones lol)

It's good! We went heavy on the chocolate though and it really showed in the end product, it was drier than I expected and kinda stuck in the throat a little. Thankfully a glass of wine washed it down easily enough 😆

Going to make some blood cubes after the rest of the container finishes thawing, so adding it to smaller stuff like blood hot chocolate will be easy

It's not fresh, or human, but it's a fun break from the usual :)

At some point Haliford and Melissa are stranded somewhere they can't acquire ethically sourced blood. So Mels does what any good loving partner would, she offers Hal her own blood to keep them from getting weak or going into a blood frenzy. And of course since Hal has never drunk from someone's neck like this before it sparks an unexpected reaction. The instincts to predate on humans are very eager to spurn them to drinking more blood than necessary. He defs doesn't feel very good about how hard it was to stop.

This isn't my best work, but I wanted an excuse to try out painting blood.
