What do you think about Matt going to meet Vanessa in season 1?

GLORIOUS.

Like. Let's talk about irony. He's the only person in the room with full knowledge of the stakes. To Vanessa, he's just a customer. To Fisk, he's opposing counsel. Only Matt knows the whole picture. The resulting ironic tension is so good.

Plus, his flirtation with Vanessa. Endlessly entertaining. Thus far, he's scoping her out and spying, but he's not really worried. In fact, I think he's even having fun (or, at least, open to having fun). For all he knows, she might be a neutral person or even a good person. She might be a victim of Fisk's manipulations. In other words, he doesn't see her as an enemy. Not yet. So he's relaxed and charming.

Then Fisk shows up, and you can practically hear the sirens going off in his brain. Charlie's acting is so, so good as he shows Matt's struggle to appear normal in front of a man he hates so much.

Also, from a character standpoint, I love seeing Matt's adaptivity on display. His planning / thinking ahead skills may be lacking (or perhaps just suffering from disuse), but if there's one thing Matt is reliably good at, it's adapting to whatever situation he finds himself in. This adaptability can sometimes seem manipulative or untrustworthy, but it's simply a skill that can be used for good of evil - and it's a highly important skill for a trial attorney.

I love what it says about Matt as a character that his first strategy in investigating Vanessa was: "I'll literally show up, as myself, at her art gallery." Karen would've researched Vanessa's entire history before meeting her face-to-face, but Matt doesn't feel the need to put in that kind of prep work. He'd rather roll the dice, and trusts himself to manage whatever happens.

(This is shown even more in the comics, where Matt and Foggy explicitly acknowledge that Foggy is better at prep work, and Matt is better at thinking on his feet.)

Overall, I just adore this scene for so many reasons.

SO! I did uhhh... a bunch of art for the @daredevilexchange 2023 Prompt Fest to be used as badges! The official badge post is coming later, but I wanted to share the art in its entirety. It was a lot of fun figuring out which characters to use for which badges... I wonder if you can guess which are which just from the art? I feel like I have earned most of them just from drawing all of these. XD

Thought I'd throw my hat into the ring, maybe a classspect analysis of a Sylph of Heart?

The Sylph of Heart [symbols: fairy wand, heart]

The Sylph class has its basis in the nymphs of Greek mythology. An example would be the Fairy Godmother trope.

The Heart aspect’s main theme is instinct. You can find its official description here.

A Sylph of Heart is among those who alter the individual's impact. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Sylph, Maid, Bard, and Prince of Mind/Heart. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that alter the Mind/Heart dichotomy (the individual's impact). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.

The Sylph of Heart passively assists the Heart aspect. Passive classes are guided by others or act for the benefit of others. They are more likely to be kind, but less likely to stand up for themselves. Sylphs and Maids aid their aspect and everything it symbolizes or use it as a form of aid. Simplified, the Sylph of Heart is motivated by others to assist instinct.

In personality, the Sylph of Heart feels useless when they can't help others and is invested in self discovery. Personality descriptions can be found here.

Their archetype is the Mother Free Spirit, defined by helping instinct. Archetypes are explained here.

Their opposite is the Maid of Mind, who actively assists intuition.

Their inverse is the Prince of Mind, who actively destroys intuition.

A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.

This means that the Sylph of Heart begins life motivated by themselves to destroy intuition. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead assisting instinct for others. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to assist the Heart aspect passively, in a positive way.

They share their archetype with the Rogue of Space, the Free Spirit Mother.

The Sylph of Heart would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Shine [Sylph] and Heart [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Lamplight and Chocolate. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.

Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) or Yaldabaoth (Trapper of Souls). Other Heart aspect denizens can be found here.

When the Sylph of Heart completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of ladybugs (symbols of love). A list of soul animals can be found here.

The characters that I have currently classpected as Sylphs of Heart are: Vanessa Marianna from Daredevil, Ana Jarvis from Agent Carter, Princess Cadance from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Irma from Fallout 4, Lily J. Potter from Harry Potter, Rainbow Quartz from Steven Universe, and a Spirit of Love from Dragon Age.
