The word “vapid” is probably one of the strongest definitions I’ve ever disagreed with in my entire life. As it stands, the word “vapid” quite literally means uninteresting, unstimulating, and emotionally worthless.

That just doesn’t sit right with me. Like, using context clues and the word bank in my brain, if someone told me they had a “vapid evening,” I would assume they meant to say they had an enriching, wild, and exhilarating evening. But the word quite literally means the opposite of that, and I hate it.

I feel like the word “vapid” would have so much more potential in modern English if only it meant the opposite of what it meant.

Is it just me or is the commodification of Halloween kinda yucky. Like I get it we live in a capitalism, but idk something just rubs me the wrong way walking through Michaels or Walmart; looking at the poorly made carbon copy hang ups and costumes. Just thinking I could have done a better job at home, for less. Just thinking about how most of this stuff is going to end up in landfills. Just thinking abt how ppl used to make jack o lanterns out of pumpkins or paper mache. Just thinking that they've done it again, the machine that turns ideas into money has done it again and we're lapping it up like dogs.

Idk consumerism is yucky. leave a homemade treat out for the spirits! Make decorations that look a lil shoddy! Go out into the woods and the graveyards and talk to the spirits, they could purrobably use some company since their spotlight has been taken by companies. Put the spirit back in spirit Halloween! Put the haunted back in the haunted house! Put your uncle Gerald back in the ground!
