Sav sat in the driver seat of their shared brand-new Mercedes Benz sprinter passenger van going over his checklist to make sure he had all of his nieces. They had so many children and counting, a regular little mini-van wouldn’t do—like on ballet and gymnastics days that they all had together or when Jacob did field trips with them. Minus the boys who rarely made any fuss, all nine girls were very specific at times and some didn’t like sharing seat belts or their personal space if they weren’t in the best mood, so they invested in a sprinter and it’d been smooth sailing since.

“Melody, she so pretty make my heart all fluttery.”

“Here,” she cheerfully replied to her uncle. She didn’t always get to spend a lot of time with her father’s side of the family so being in the presence of her uncle and cousins made her happy.

“Delightful Damaris, she gon’ be a stunnin’ runway model in Paris.”

“Here!”

“Pretty Poppy, all these hoes gon’ wanna copy.”

“Here me go, Uncle Sav!”

“Savannah my precious banana,” Sav called then looked in the mirror and she raised her hand, still not able to verbally communicate much but they were working on it day by day. They mostly depended on sign language. He and Chi were just thankful she was able to walk on her own now without assistance. “Queen Day B, my G!”

“Here daddy!” she giggled.

“Aubree my gorgeous lil cup of tea.”

“Here,” she blushed.

“Ivory, my cute honeybee.”

“I’m right here,” she replied bashfully.

They loved their pet names given by Uncle Sav.

“Lovely Loire, even though you mean you the one I’ll always adore.” “Hmph!” she folded her arms with a scowl. The last thing she wanted to do was be in a leotard, tights, ballet shoes and a slick back bun. She looked just like a little Lake with an attitude.

“Ion know what hmph mean lil girl.”

“Me here!” Loire pouted, attitude on a hundred.

“You gon’ be flung over the bushes you keep actin’ up,” Sav threatened and she poked her lip out, and started crying into her sister’s arm. “My beautiful River gon’ always have my back and deliver…slaps! To ya muhfuckin’ dome on behalf of her uncle!”

“Here, Uncle Savy,” she laughed. “You make my sister cry,” River put her arm around Loire.

“She made her lil bad ass self cry. Loire cut it out before I get Sugar Sprinkle Pickle,” he referred to their dog that Lake let them name and she straightened up real quick. For some reason she was afraid of that little ass chihuahua. “Ard, everybody got their seatbelts on?” “Yes!” they all responded at the same time, Savannah nodding her head up and down.

“Do anybody gotta go number one or two before I pull off?”

“Nooo!”

“Goin’ once, goin’ twice, and we out!”

Jacob was on vacation for a week so what he’d usually tend to with their children was split between Sav, Lake, and Dem. Vant declined to help, wanting to use all of his free time from the kids trying to give Ivy another baby which she refused.

They had so many kids that keeping them active was necessary. They had tons of energy which needed to be channeled in something productive other than fighting with one another. Leave them in the house for too long, barrettes were flying, hair was being pulled and nothing but crying and screaming filled the air.

Once they arrived at the studio, Sav parked and got out making all of the girls hold hands as they crossed the lot. They basically had private lessons seeing as their group made up one class.

“Good afternoon!” their teacher, Ms. Farrah smiled as each of her tiny ballerinas marched into the studio. While the class went on Sav sat to the side taking pictures and videos, sending them in the group chat.

Putting the phone in his pocket, Sav gathered his tribe of little ladies. They all walked to the van hand in hand talking over one another.

“Yes!” she answered her uncle now all smile. Sometimes it took his niece a minute to warm up.

“Good…who wanna go bother auntie Chi?”

“Meeeeee!” they all raised their hands at the same time.

“She’s my mommy,” Sav heard Day say.

“And she’s my auntie,” Aubree sassed.

“Don’t be mean to me.”

“Talk to the hand!”

“Daddy!” Day shouted. “She put her hand in my face,” she whined.

Vogue Beauty Secrets

summary: harry shares his beauty secrets with vogue but he needs a little help

"Hi, I'm Harry, and today I'm going to be sharing my beauty secrets with all of you lovely, lovely people."

He was a bit nervous to be filming a video like this. Normally there were more people around, but now it was just him, his camera, and a bathroom mirror, and the long line of products you set up for him before you left the house. Harry didn't use to have much in terms of a routine, not enough to film this kind of video, anyway. But after a few months of just knowing you, he had enough products to fill up all the shelves in his bathroom.

"Um, so I start with this. I have dry skin from traveling all the time, and my girlfriend says it's good for dry skin, so," he said with a shrug, holding up his cleanser for the camera, pumping a little into his hand, and rubbing it into his skin.

Harry tried to talk while washing his face, but he got some of the cleansing foam in his mouth and immediately had to stop the recording so he could spit it out and rinse his mouth. Terribly embarrassed, he took a couple seconds to collect himself before turning the recording back on.

"Next I use a toner, also picked out for me by my girlfriend. It has, erm, salicylic acid and is an exfoliator. Whoa, try saying that five times fast."

He put it on, looking down at the small list of prompts he'd been given to talk as he filmed the video. Minus the cleanser mishap, things went pretty smooth. Harry went over all the things he used, and when he got to his Pleasing products, he talked in-depth about the brand—why he decided to create the brand in the first place, what the two different serums and the Pleasing Pen did, and why he came out with those first.

"All of this is supposed to give me a 'glow from within,' as promised by my missus, but I'll let you decide," Harry said, moving his face from side to side so the bathroom lights would catch on his cheekbones.

When he finished his skincare, it was time to move onto makeup, which made him pause. It technically wasn't a lot, and he could definitely do it himself, but he'd become so accustomed to you doing it, he didn't like it any other way.

"Excuse me one moment," he said, then pulled out his phone and dialed your number, putting it on speaker.

"Hi, baby. Finished already?" you asked, picking up after the first couple rings.

"Uh...No. I need your help," Harry admitted, turning slightly away from the camera when he felt his cheeks heat up.

"H, I told you I didn't—"

"I'll make it up to you, I promise. Pleaseee."

Harry kept saying please until you eventually relented. "Fine, I'll be back in ten minutes."

"Thank you. I love you so very much."

"Love you too. See you in a bit."

Stopping the recording, he waited for you to come back home. You'd stepped out to run some errands—re-stocking your personal and professional kit, getting groceries for dinner later tonight.

Instead of doing those things, you drove home. Walking up the stairs, you walked into yours and Harry's shared bedroom, knocking on the door of the bathroom before opening it. You found Harry leaning over and starting the recording up again.

"Just in time!" he said, grinning at you as he sat back down again.

He tugged on your hand to pull you over to where he was sitting, but you stayed just out of the camera frame. Still, he brought your hand up and kissed the top of it, grinning wide when he saw the corners of your lips turn up.

"Okay, where did you leave off?" you asked, going over to the sink to wash your hands.

"I just need moisturizer and sunscreen and I'm good to go."

You looked at him from behind the camera, but he just continued to smile at you. Harry was more than capable of applying that stuff himself, but he preferred when you did it for him. Making your way back over to him, you picked up his moisturizer and got started.

"So, I know most people like to use primer before makeup, but since H doesn't wear very much, I typically just use a good moisturizer. This one is the Embryolisse face cream, and I get a good amount on my fingertips and really work it in. I should mention that this is definitely a one person job, but he's a diva, so here we are."

Harry had been smiling faintly with his eyes closed as you massaged his face up until that point. "Hey."

Pretending like you heard nothing, you continued. "After that, I put on sunscreen, and I typically don't use anything under SPF 30. And once that's all rubbed in, he's ready for a little makeup."

You smoothed his hair back a little as you finished blending everything in, massaging around his temples the way you knew he liked a little extra attention, and almost as if on cue, he mumbled, "Feels nice."

You gave him a couple more seconds to enjoy the pads of your fingers against his temples, but you eventually had to move on, worried that this video could go on forever.

"Okay, so H has some small dark circles that he likes covered up when he's on stage, but they're usually not severe enough to warrant color corrector, so I just go in with a little bit of the Nars pot concealer right here," you said, tapping it under his eyes. "And if he's got a couple breakouts, I'll cover those up to, but I must say, you're looking quite flawless today."

The corner of his mouth tipped up into a crooked little grin. "It's all thanks to you."

Harry was a very charming person by nature, but there had to be something in the air, because he was being extra sweet with you today. It was too cute to make note of, though, so you just smiled at him and told him to blend in his concealer while you cleaned up a little.

When he was all done, you picked up the next item. "Sometimes if he's looking a little pale, I'll put on just the tiniest bit of cream bronzer. Nothing too intense, but just enough to bring some color to the face, and I put it on his cheeks here, his temples, and a little by his hairline. Anywhere the sun would normally hit the face, and I blend that in with a sponge."

You worked and explained, trying to ignore the dreamy look in Harry's eyes as he watched you so you could focus. "Like it so far?"

"Mmhm. Positively sunkissed."

"

Blending a little more with your sponge, you said, "He's pretty easy as far as clients go, very low maintenance. But he loves being taken care of. Face rollers and masks after a show are a must to help him wind down."

He said it so quietly, but the camera's microphone was just able to pick it up. "Best part of my night is getting ready for bed with you."

You held in the urge to kiss him, but it wasn't easy. Obviously, people knew Harry Styles had a girlfriend, but you kept a low profile and weren't often photographed with him in order to maintain a small modicum of anonymity. It had worked so far, though you wondered if after this video one of his fans would be able to track you down with just your voice and hands.

Shaking those thoughts away, you focused on the video again. "And then to wrap it up, he wears a lip balm, and since he's a bougie bitch, he goes for the Tatcha lip jelly, but I won't hold that against him because it's really great lip product."

"I feel as though I should point out that she's not usually this feisty. She's putting on a show for the camera," Harry said, a mocking frown on his face.

He let you put his lip balm on for him, puckering his lips so he could give you a tiny kiss on the tip of your finger, which made you very thankful that you couldn't be seen on camera because you were now a blushy mess. Once he was all set, you continued.

"I normally don't set H's face with any powders or anything because he doesn't really need it. The most I'll do is remind him to put this on throughout the day. It's a mineral powder with SPF in it, which should keep his skin from burning throughout the day. And...that's pretty much it. Pretty simple, but very effective."

"I look ready for date night," he said, looking at himself in the mirror.

"Yeah? I'd say you look quite handsome too. I'd definitely take you out on a date."

With the pads of your fingers, you gingerly tilted his chin from side to side so that the camera could see the finished result. Harry kept going after you let go, though, holding his chin in his hands and posing while you put some of his things away.

"It is quite minimal," he said, agreeing with your previous statement. "Should've asked her to do this instead. My girl's an artist."

You smiled to yourself, half listening to Harry as you cleaned up. "You know, I didn't know much about makeup until I met her. And then suddenly I knew everything. Like, there was this one time where she was watching this movie, and she freaked out because a guy took off a girl's fake eye lashes. Now I know never to touch a woman's false lashes lest I want my hand cut off."

You'd been letting your boyfriend ramble to the camera about this and that, clearly not as nervous about the whole thing as he had been when you left him earlier today. And while you'd been trying not to laugh too loud, you couldn't hold it in after his last anecdote. It wasn't so much the story itself, but the way he described his feelings about it at the end.

The story was true, of course. Harry had been downstairs on the phone while you watched a movie in his bed. You'd already written it off as a terrible film after the first ten minutes, but you decided to see it through, only to gasp in horror when you saw the leading man remove the leading lady's false lashes.

You came back over to him, still laughing but trying to get ahold of yourself. "That's true, you're definitely right about that, but...you know I don't use those right? I have eyelash extensions."

Harry, who had been laughing right along with you, sobered up pretty quickly. "You have what?"

Smiling at his utter confusion, you said, "Baby, how long have we been together? I've never taken them off. Their extensions. Like hair extensions...but for eyelashes."

You were not blessed in the long, voluminous lash department and had started getting lash extensions years ago, long before you met Harry. Granted, they were very natural looking, but he'd watched you put your makeup on hundreds of times, and not once had you stuck on a pair of fake lashes.

"This...This is madness. Come here." Harry stood up from his seat and held your face in his hands so he could get a better look. You were practically nose to nose, but he just kept looking at you very intensely. What he was trying to see, you weren't sure. You had a very excellent lash tech.

"Witchcraft," he mumbled. Moving so he was in front of the camera again, he said, "My girlfriend's a witch."

You shoved his shoulder playfully. "Shut up, you dork!"

You left him shortly after that, but not before he pulled you back over to him so he could kiss your cheek. "Love you!" he called.

"Love you too," you replied over your shoulder. And with that, you left him to finish the video.

Harry did the outro, eager to go now that he knew you were waiting for him. With a final wave he signed off. "Thank you for watching me share my beauty secrets, though it was really just me being pampered by my girlfriend. But what can I say, I'd be lost without her."

Meghan and Harry: Episode 1

Why?

Seriously, why?

Bet let’s start at the beginning. I live-blogged the documentary on my Notes app. I wasn’t originally going to post it because I’ve stopped blogging, but omg, this is truly, as Scobie would say, the endgame. Of course, it’s not the monarchy losing the game. It’s the Harkles, They’ve checkmated themselves.

This was a six-hour own goal. I knew it was going to end badly for them when I saw Sunshine Sachs dropped them. Without SS astroturfing positive coverage all over the place they were doomed anyway.  However, the content of the documentary takes it beyond doom and into truly apocalyptic. I bet it has great ratings. It’s a complete train wreck.

[Edited after first liveblog: Netflix is calling it the most viewed documentary ever, but that’s misleading. It barely held on to The Crown’s audience which was its base number, and I doubt it will have the same staying power. Still, not a bad The Crown companion piece for Netflix.]

But let’s break it down.

Episode 1

Starting with shots in an airport lounge and a rented house looking like absolute crap is the weirdest branding idea I’ve ever heard of. They don’t look relatable. They look pathetic.

[I’m editing this after finishing their series and this opening is even more baffling now. Episode 5 covers their last week of royal engagements. First, that segment is a lot more glamorous and exciting than these sad-sack iPhone videos and they really should have opened with that. Second, Episode 5 shows they were elated and super excited after finishing those engagements. They loved the crowd reactions and the press coverage and were over-the-moon with happiness. These videos are supposedly shot after that and they are all sad and mopey and wondering “how they got here.” It’s a huge disconnect.]

The intro music screams “cheap YouTube production.” So does the stock photo montage. Oh, now it’s home movies…why? This resembles the video tab of a super-basic Facebook couple circa 2014. Netflix paid millions for this? I don’t think they got paid $100m, but I bet Netflix shelled out a tenth of that. They still overpaid.

[Actually, maybe they didn’t. The Crown cost $13 million per episode and they likely paid $10 mil for six episodes of Harry and Meghan which got the same audience.]

Now they are in a house (theirs? Victoria Jackson’s? Oprah’s?) that looks like a Restoration Hardware showroom and they look slightly less pathetic but also like they are in couples’ therapy. Oh, she did know who he was. What a shocker. Dimwit doesn’t seem to realize the implications. I wonder if the filmmaker is secretly mocking them.

My husband is watching with me. He was very confused by Meghan’s comment about how “when the stakes are so high” it makes sense to get the story from them. He doesn’t understand why the stakes are high. I told her Meghan is a narcissist and he didn’t believe me. He used to watch her on Suits and despite my best efforts still thinks she’s Rachel Zane. Anyway, he thinks the house looks like an expensive rehab clinic and now I can’t get that out of my mind. I think they are trying to look like the happy couples in When Harry Met Sally but it does feel like luxury drug rehab therapy full of Restoration Hardware furniture. He also asked me what was going on with Harry’s pupils in the airport lounge video. He thought that was weird. I tell him it's cocaine, but he thinks it's Xanax or something like that.

Montage. “They are destroying us.” “This has always been bigger than us.” Oh, please.

Montecito sunset. I guess this is their backyard? It looked better in the real estate photos. Meghan croons “isn’t it beautiful?” and Archie agrees. All I can think of is that these idiots used to live in freaking Windsor Park and now they have my grandma’s yard (complete with chicken coop and everything).

Walking with Archie. Harry mutters “this is a great love story” while pushing an empty newborn stroller (why? Where’s the baby? Is Meghan carrying the baby?). This is surreal. 

Glamorous wedding shot (a melancholic reminder of past glories, frankly) and it turns into a closeup of Harry’s legs. Eew.

Meghan goes to the chicken coop. There’s a lot of cyclone fencing in this house. 

Back to the Restoration Hardware Showroom. Meghan is in sweats because…I don’t know. Weird Instagram family pics including a sad little birthday party for Archie. Good lord, my kids had better parties than the King’s grandson. This is so pathetic. 

Oh, no. She got the cheap Amazon patio furniture protectors. At least they match the cyclone fencing. 

More family Instagram. They are protecting their kids…by putting them in a documentary?

Did I just see Harry’s underwear??!! Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Between the sale of family pics, the family drama, and the plumber’s crack, I’m starting to feel that Meghan married her dad.

Harry talks about consent with regards to his children…but they are too young to consent so it doesn’t really makes sense. Guess he thinks it’s only his consent that matters.

My husband asks if Harry is an addict. I suspect it’s partly his demeanor and partly the inconsistencies in the narrative. Meghan said she’d prefer Prince Harry, and that showed how little she knew about the royals? Media exposure requires consent, but your kids are in a documentary? Harry doesn’t seem to realize that these things make no sense.

I feel the way they structured these confessionals with an invisible interviewer was a big mistake. Oprah’s presence during that interview served to validate their shady claims. She has a lot of credibility so when she nodded and smiled people trusted that. It made their statements credible. Here they don’t have that and all the contradictions are apparent.

They’re in the yard. Meghan is trying to channel Martha Stewart and failing. Martha wouldn’t have cyclone fencing, Megs.

Meghan in sweats in the Restoration Hardware showroom. BIG expensive drug rehab vibes. I bet this is what all the rich women wear at the Betty Ford Clinic. She complains that other people write books about them and “wouldn’t it make sense to hear our story from us?” Actually, Megs it’s becoming painfully clear that the tabloids and royal biographers have made you two look a lot more interesting, glamorous and stylish than you really are. Left to your own devices you two are boring as dry toast.

Really cool shots of London. Whoa, the city looks great! They spent money on these. They probably should have spent that cash making California look good. London is their past and California is their future and so far their past looks a lot cooler and more glamorous than their future.

Tig Instagram pic montage. I wonder who was taking these? She should have rehired the photographer because the family pics she has now are terrible. These were much better. Her Tig life feels a lot more upscale and aspirational than her current Montecito existence which goes to show what good photography can do. LOL, she used the airport with the Ghurka suitcase. Yes, she didn’t know she was going to meet a prince and that’s why she traded in her Rowena for the luggage brand the princes are known to use.

Pics from what appears to be Harry’s private Instagram. Interesting—wait, the Insta rumor was real? What the? Good lord why would you admit that in a documentary???!! This is freaking surreal. Whyyyyy?”

[To those who don’t know. There was a rumor back in 2016 that Meghan was a designated Soho House “companion” and the girls were “advertised” through a private Insta account run by Marcus. If you liked a girl you could DM Marcus and get an introduction…which seems to be exactly what Harry did. I don’t understand why they would mention this in a a documentary. Everyone bought the Violet von Westerwhatever blind date story. They should have stuck to that.]

I wonder how the mainstream audience is reacting to the new instagram story. The original story got a lot of coverage and a critical mass of people may start to wonder what the heck is going on. Even my husband is skeptical and I don’t think he knew the blind date story. 

BTW, the fact that she was following his account was known in Toronto as soon as the relationship story broke. Interesting.

“Friend” talking about Wimbledon. She’s actually Serena Williams agent so I’m not sure why she’s labeled as a friend. Wimbledon, blah, blah, blah. Lol, Again, Meghan’s old life appears a heck of a lot more glamorous than her current one. OMG, she told Serena’s agent she was going on a date with Harry??!! She was telling everyone wasn’t she?

Texting. She was posting all of this to Insta as it was happening which is absolutely hilarious. Actually, this whole documentary reminds of the early days of the relationship when she was posting everything on Insta and leaking stories to US Weekly constantly. They really wanted all of this material out there and waiting until they got paid for it probably took probably took enormous self discipline. Guess they took Doria's "don't give the milk away for free" advice to heart.

I just realized she’s wearing Trevor’s Cartier bracelet during her monologues and that cracks me up. 

More cheap stock footage. Seriously, how much did Netflix pay for this? Endless chat about their first date, which is nowhere near as interesting as they seem to think it is. They should have stuck to the blind date story. It was slightly more interesting. Bad Soho House selfie. 

Nacho shows up as a “friend” and he’s really Harry’s promo buddy. The Silver Tree person was also a Suits director. Everyone is a business contact in this documentary. All these white people in California resort wear are giving me White Lotus Season 3 vibes. 

Baseball hat pics in a messy kitchen…these two are hellbent on shedding whatever royal glamour they had left. Wait, isn’t this an old picture from Toronto? Like real old, first year in Toronto kind of old. What a weird choice.

“Marry someone who fits the mould instead of someone you are destined to be with” followed by a pic of Megs trying to look sexy in a wifebeater shirt. Does the director secretly hate them? He was born in a palace but he had a trailer park heart…she was a tacky actress from the wrong side of the tracks…they were destined to be together selling family pics to the tabloids just like dad…it’s a family traditioooooooon….

Old royal footage…Diana…Charles…childhood photocalls, which Harry seems to resent, but he’s doing the same to his kids in this documentary, so I really don’t understand what he’s thinking. The Diana footage is a big misstep because wow Di was charismatic and these two losers can’t hold a candle to her. 

Thirteen whole minutes of archival footage, most of it stuff his parents “consented” to, and lots of whining about press intrusion. Dude, you’re in a reality show. You’re putting your kids on television. Know where you stand.

Then a slew of private couple pics that they really should have kept private. Love the wallpaper. Bet that was Frogmore. The documentary is rather disorienting. I can’t tell what house they are in or when the pictures were taken.  

Boom. “So much of what Meghan is and how she is is so similar to my mom.” My husband actually rewinds this part to make sure he heard right. Pic of Diana with her kids in the garden and then another pic of Meghan with her kids in the garden. Very similar gardens. Not so similar women.

“He wanted to marry his mom?” my husband asks. 

Cringe video of Archie with a Diana photo. “I didn’t want history to repeat itself,” Harry says.

“He did want to marry his mom,” my husband says, amazed. “So he can save her this time.” Shaking his head. “This is nuts but it’s television gold. Did the brother marry his mummy too?”

“No,” I said. 

“And the brother is the one who gets to be king, right?”

“Yes.”

“That’s good.”

More monologue about their courtship. Lol, they really did leak the handholding painting to the press. Footage comparing Megs to Di and it’s painfully obvious she’s nowhere near as charismatic. 

Diana’s death and more archival footage. This documentary is a humongous downer, isn’t it? Childhood friend of Harry’s I’d never heard about. Was he invited to the wedding? I don't think so. Strong White Lotus vibes coming from this guy.

Diana’s funeral. Harry’s drug scandal. Hellraiser Harry. Bitching about paparazzi. No mention of Vegas, which is weird. You’d think that would be the big traumatic story about media intrusion. I guess he only wants to blame the UK media and Vegas was a TMZ story in the states and the UK media wasn’t allowed to print the pictures so it doesn't fit his narrative.

More whining about royal photocalls…except for the Lesotho photo ops which Harry didn’t seem to mind. Bit of a disconnect there because those were royal pr as well. In fact, it was the way the royals rehabilitated his image after the drug scandal. Seems like Harry only hates the royal pr he can’t personally monetize. Why isn’t Sentenbale getting a shout out? You’d think he would plug the charity here (Audi, Soho House, and JP Morgan got very obvious brand placements) but if he did I missed it. [Edited: Should have added the house to the list of product placements]

LOL, Prince Seesio straight out says that the Lesotho vacation was a response to the bad press in the UK. They should have briefed him better. I don’t think he was supposed to say that.

Botswana vacay with Meghan. Wow, the Daily Mail made this look a lot more glamorous than it actually was. This wasn’t exactly glamping, was it? Were there showers? No, best to not go there. No charities are mentioned. No mention of the “love” bracelets, just a Daily Mail article shot.

More whining about press intrusion then private Halloween pics that really should have stayed private. Lol, they went to a party with Eugenie after the relationship was leaked. Tell me you leaked the relationship without telling me you leaked the relationship. I bet Meghan wanted to post this on her Insta and Jason didn’t let her. I wish they’d let her. The press reaction to the Call of Duty costume would have been epic.

Harry doesn’t seem to be catching on. If you were in disguise and no one knew you went to this party except Meghan, Jack and Eugenie, then who exactly leaked it, Harry? Because we knew about it a day later.

That’s a Toronto newspaper, the same one that had the leak about Meghan following Harry’s private account. At the time the evil British tabloids were actually under the impression Harry was still in England and had cancelled a trip to visit Toronto.

The other outlet who got the scoop early was our old friend US Weekly, and the byline was by a then-unknown gossip hack called Omid Scobie. Given what we know now about their relationship with Scobie. Yep, I think these two just confessed to leaking stories about their own relationship.

The DM had to quote the Toronto paper and US Weekly when they finally broke the story on the other side of the pond.

Interesting that Meghan and Harry’s “new and improved super real love story” is the one that was being leaked in Toronto and not the one that the evil UK tabloids had supposedly uncovered through nefarious means. I don’t understand why they are changing the story, though. The blind date wasn’t a tabloid rumor. It’s what they themselves said during a BBC interview. 

End of episode. Overall, I feel this was a huge missed opportunity. Not much about his work in Africa or her UN/One Young World work. We hear about Harry’s photography but barely see it. It’s their chance to tell their story and their story is “we’re boring and tacky people who sell pics of their kids.” I feel they really wanted to put the “real” story of how they met out there—the IG dog pic, the Call of Duty costume, the crappy Soho House selfie. It reminds me of her old Working Actress blog where she was constantly stressing how unglamorous acting life really was. 

I’m not blown away by the quality either. Their home movies feel cheap and curiously inauthentic. They should have run everything through a filter to make it feel coherent and cohesive. The stock/archival footage is sometimes great (London and the royal family), sometimes cheap (Soho House), sometimes missing (California), and sometimes misleading (pap shots of Chelsy, Cressida and Kate that are narrated as though Meghan was the victim). 

The documentary lacks the authoritative tone most documentaries have. You really feel it’s “their” side of the story and not the “real” story. I think the problem is how they switch from the couples’ personal narrative, confessionals, and personal pics into historical pictures and public royal narratives. The institutional credibility of the royal shots makes the personal material feel biased and unreliable. The videos of Charles and the kids interacting with photographers, in particular are massive own goals because they remind the viewers that everything, including Meghan and Harry’s pictures and videos, includes invisible photographers. It’s just that the Harkles are hiding that from us, whereas the royals are upfront about it. The confessionals in the rehab setting, in particular, were huge mistakes, imo. They feel like reality show confessionals (like the ones the Housewives franchise uses) and viewers are trained to see those as unreliable narrations. Using someone else's house was also a bad idea. It feels fake.

The whole thing feels very chaotic and unconvincing. My husband thinks they are both addicts and I remember thinking that when they first started doing their beanie hat appearances. I ask him why and he cites the dilated pupils, contradictory narratives, family resentments and couch-surfing at other people’s housing. He says it’s standard junkie drama.

Other family members are watching and most of the group chat (lawyers and social workers) reaches the same conclusion: even the royals have junkie kid drama. The social worker says she has tons of clients like Meghan and the all sound the same. “They’re trying to destroy us.” “It’s a great love story.” “I don’t know how we ended up here.” “What happened.” They are all more interested in having their side of the story validated than in actually fixing the problem and they just repeat the same family dynamics over and over again. That’s why Harry is showing us pics of his kids in the house/garden/vacation right after complaining that his parents showed the world pictures of him, his bother, and his cousins in the house/garden/vacation.  She noticed that he posted a pic of himself in military gear (the Halloween pic) as an adult and a similar one of himself a kid. He also posted skiing pics with the royals and then similar pics in the sand in California. She’s says he’s basically re-living his childhood and trying to get it right this time. 

I didn’t expect many people in my family would be interested in this, but they are all having fun psychoanalyzing these two. Everyone thinks this is Harry rewriting his past so he gets to save his mum this time. Meghan’s motivations are less clear. No one believes she didn’t know who he was. The psychologist says it’s weird that Meghan’s side of the love story was just “it was exciting…we just got to know each other….” Her motivation is not that clear, although there was that one story about wanting to be protected from the elephants in the tent. Opinion is split with half the chat thinking she wanted to be rescued by Prince Charming and the other half (the psychologists and social workers) thinking that as an actress her fantasy would be A Star is Born. The psychologist says those two are not that different. In the Prince Charming fantasy you get rescued by an individual and in the Star is Born fantasy you are rescued by an institution, i.e., the studio or Hollywood. She thinks her fantasy was A Star is Born and that’s why she’s so resentful now. I think we’d discussed that in the blog before. Interesting to hear someone else saying it. Meghan didn’t want a love story where she was rescued by Harry, she wanted a Hollywood success story where she was acclaimed as a star by the palace. She didn’t get that and that’s why she’s still upset even though she got the Prince Charming love story. That’s not what she wanted. Harry got the fantasy he wanted, so he’s not as upset. 

Not much support for the theory (mine) that she was manipulating him consciously. Everyone seems to think it’s a case of two mental illnesses falling in love, along with junkie drama. That’s why Harry is so amazed at their “fantastic love story.” He wanted to marry his mum and she wanted to be his mum. That’s a pretty unlikely combination. 

I’m very curious about the “friends” featured in this episode. No Jess, no Markus, no Misha Nonoo, no one from the Suits cast except Abigail Spencer, and no Janina. Everyone seems to be a business partner of some sort. Cory was missing also, but it makes sense that she wouldn’t mention him. Reitman’s wasn’t mentioned either but I guess she doesn’t want to give them press.

I don’t understand why they didn’t lean into the charity work angle. She was doing One Young World and he was working Africa. Her "You can be Both" essay wasn't mentioned either and I feel they should have led with that instead of going with her “single girl trip” and the not-so-glam Botswana vacation. I also don’t understand why we didn’t see more of Harry’s supposedly amazing wildlife photography. After all, they are trying to build a career as documentary producers. You’d think that would be relevant. The big takeaways from this episode are: Meghan is mummy and I saw history repeating itself so I had to save her. “Save Mummy” seems like a weird narrative to craft a brand around, but my husband is right. It’s television gold.

I was asked in a PM how I would rate the different non-replica versions. Well. I have different level of knowledge about them. I have seen three of them live, I have seen a lot of full videos of other, while a handful haven't really interested me so I only know them through photos and short clips. And from that you can't make a fair ranking. But if stunting it - and also really assuming they all had equally great casts - I'd say something like this:

1. HUNGARY: I will always give this production props for being the first non-replica production, and a beautiful one. Very eerie and moody set design, and overall a colour scheme reminding of Maria Bjørnson's but with individual details. It was like looking at the Palais Garnier from another angle. My only main complain is that I like the costume sketches a lot more than then actual costumes. But first and foremost, MOODY. Yes.

2. ROMANIA/NORWAY/GREECE/MIDDLE EAST: As such a bit difficult to rate it as a whole, as the Romanian production was a prototype massively pimped for the Norwegian premiere, and also slightly changed for the following productions. But if judging from the Norwegian production which I saw numerous times, it was all in, with the wildest chandelier crash, nice effects overall, a clear vision in the directing, and nice choreography. This too a take on the Palais Garnier which tried to find other angles and aspects than what Bjørnson did.

3. ITALY / SPAIN / MEDITERRANEAN: Beautiful, creative and very Phantom-y. This too seems to reflect on the Palais Garnier, if a bit more abstracted than the ones above. Props for three equally strong leads, not merely in the acting but also directing.

4. SYDNEY HARBOUR, AUSTRALIA: Humongous outdoor set! The same hint of fragmenter grander pieces as Bjørnson did so well. Colourful, an abundance of details, drapes, ideas. Flames! Floating gondolas! And a performance that went on regardless of massive rainstorms. With a backdrop of the evening sky and the Sydney Opera House. Gotta love it all.

5. POLAND: I like it more now than when it first premiered. I was disappointed it stuck so close to the 2004 movie, in terms of direcing, costume design and tweaks (the sword fight in the Mausoleum scene, for example). But I do appreciate the set design a lot, and the production also feature a kick-ass chandelier crash. Here for it!

6. KRISTIANSTAD, SWEDEN: A thoroughly original production, utilizing the small-ish stage to full effect. I was impressed by how much they made out of little, and how different it appeared life compared to photos. Even if the sets were clever, the golden moments of this production was in the smaller details, I felt. And I loved it.

7. CZECH REPUBLIC: Colourful, loud and brassy design, and one functioning inside a pyramide shaped theatre. Fascinating, if a bit... wobbly. But passionate.

8. RESTAGED TOUR: I mean, Maria Bjørnson's costumes (plus/minus). And very professionally executed. Some clever ideas for the staging and directing, and I do enjoy the overall idea of the drum set. But I don't think the busy sets and the ornate costumes is a good match. I wish they'd made a brand new costume design more suited for the sets. I also have massive issues with the portrayals of the Phantom, Christine and Raoul, both separately and their dynamics. In total a love/hate relationship.

9. ESTONIA: Another thoroughly original production, set between WW1 and WW2, with a local spin, an eternal winter, and a costume design reflecting on Vivienne Westwood and 1990s couture in general. The set design is angled, featuring a stage-on-stage in the back, and boxes at the sides. I like this production more on an intellectual level than really feeling it.

10. NEW ROMANIAN PRODUCTION: Rich AI based look, but oh! So crowded. I enjoy seeing a scene here and there, but seeing several is like eating a whole bag of candy: too much. I do however enjoy it in smaller portions, and I want to give props for being the first to do AI design in Phantom land.

11. FINLAND/SWEDEN: Some of the sets are awesome. But the overall staging feels so alien, and the 1980s costumes and the Phantom's gold mask is killing me. I can't. Kudos for huge opera orchestra, though!

12. BULGARIA: Too print and projection heavy for my liking, some LEGO like set pieces (including the chandelier and monkey musical box) and a costume design I'm understand very little of. This one just ain't for me and that is OK.

13. SERBIA: Oh Serbia. I don't understand you. I don't understand your vibe, your 1990s costume design, your bridge-and-cube set design. I... can't.

(and this is of course a highly subjective ranking based on my preferences and my limited knowledge of ome of the productions - it might change if I see more of them live later on)

Hygiene is No. 1 for me. Staying really clean is important. I’m really good at washing my hands and making sure I clean my face after a long day or first thing in the morning. And as for internal beauty, my rule is choosing kindness.

What is your No. 1 pre-filming rule?

Get a facial, sleep, drink lots of water, and pack all my essentials. I’ll bring a whole suitcase just dedicated to my skin and beauty care. It could be supplements or it could be my whole skin kit. I have four La Mer products I never travel without: the Eye Concentrate, the Treatment Lotion, the Concentrate, and the Crème de la Mer.

Out of those products, what’s the one you can’t live without, and why?

I love the Concentrate; that’s one of my favorite products because it’s super-healing. It also makes my skin really glossy and glow-y. When I put it on before I go to bed, I will wake up and feel rejuvenated. It’s kind of like a load of different things in one bottle. That’s the one product I would swear by, and I’d be able to live off just that in my beauty case.

What is your No. 1 rule when not filming?

I just don’t leave the house. I think that’s my rule. I just stay at home and do literally nothing.

I said I would be posting more now that I have a laptop upstairs, and I will. I haven't posted much yet because I was still getting used to the keyboard and trying to get to a more comfortable typing speed that didn't frustrate me.

I actually bought a MacBook Air. I borrowed some money from my dad that I will be paying back over time. It's my first Apple product if you don't count the iPhone I got for my parents. It's a wonderful computer. The M1 chip is super zippy. Battery life is amazing. My former 12 year old laptop lasted about 2 hours per charge. This thing lasts me basically all day. The construction is very impressive. The aluminum body feels very sturdy. The screen is beautiful and gets way brighter than I need. And while they don't have any bass, I can't believe how good these tiny laptop speakers sound. My old laptop sounded like a super quiet AM radio. This thing hasn't gotten even mildly warm yet (though I am not rendering video or anything). It is very light. I feel comfortable taking it with me around the house if I need to. The old laptop was about 12 pounds and I think this is 2.75 or so.

Apple just makes good laptops. They always have, though they weren't always a great value. But I think the M1/M2 models are actually competitively priced as long as you don't get too many upgrades. The upgrade prices are still bonkers.

The OS has taken some getting used to. But for basic functions it's fine. I haven't had any trouble navigating. And the search function is much better than Windows. As is the aesthetics.

I don't really get into those technology pissing contests. I considered a Windows laptop, but there were just so many PC laptop choices and I was overwhelmed with the research required to find a good one. Not only can quality vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but it can also vary from model to model. There are shitty Dells and fantastic Dells. I just didn't have the energy to figure out which was which. But I knew the new M1 Macs were all well reviewed and would serve my needs. So, that's what I got.

One bonus is that all of my friends are on iPhones and so now I can use iMessage and not turn into a dreaded green bubble. I still think Apple should make texting with android not crappy, but I'm happy to have a less frustrating way to communicate with my friends until that happens. If it ever does. (C'mon Europe, force Apple to fix that!)

Choosing tech these days is just about your needs and preferences. Brand loyalty is bullshit. All of the companies basically suck as far as business practices. Google might even be eviler these days. Microsoft has always been shit. And Dell has some of the worst customer service around. In this particular instance, Apple was the least evil choice for my needs and preferences. And anytime I need to do something only a PC can handle, I can just pop downstairs and use my desktop machine.

My only complaint so far is that I don't like how the scroll wheel functions with my bluetooth mouse. I like to scroll 3 lines at a time and Apple has this weird scroll acceleration feature that scrolls really slow at first and then crazy fast the more you scroll. I think there is a workaround but I haven't had the time to figure it out yet.

I'm excited to test out Photoshop, as I've heard the M1 version is about 50% faster. I just haven't had the energy to edit any photos recently.

So, that's my Apple experience so far. It's a good computer that I hope will last for many years. I also like that they maintain decent resale value if I need something different down the line.

so I often bitch about how much I hate shaving. well, when I was a teen, living at home with my parents, and didn't have a boyfriend, and wasn't going out, I used to go without shaving my legs whenever I could. usually thats because I was wearing long pants most of the time, but in the summer i might be wearing shorts only at home, where only family members would see me.

all I was trying to do was not shave because I hated it so much and got such awful razor burn, and also I was like still a kid and had a very limited income from my part time job, which I was saving to go to Japan. so i didn't spend on random products to help with shaving that I didn't even know whether or not they'd work. I just didn't want to be itchy all the time, and I thought my family, at least, wouldn't mind me being a little hairy. I mean my mom shaved but not everywhere >_> and my dad being a man of course didn't but also he very often walked around completely naked except for his briefs. was it really ridiculous of me to think that if my dad could strut around the house in his underwear no problemo, i could be a little hairy sometimes?

anyway on my last phone call with my dad, I don't remember how we got on the topic but I mentioned shaving and my dad was shocked to find out that I shave regularly. I was like yeah dad I've been doing it since I was thirteen. "but you didn't all the time" "no dad because shaving sucks and if no one was gonna see me i didn't do it" and he said "I thought you were doing that rebellious European feminist thing, you know, they like to go full body har"

I'm unreasonably annoyed by the this x'D for like twenty years my dad has thought I express my feminism through refusing to shave. (a position btw he doesn't respect) never did it occur to him to ask me. or that shaving just sucks. this is doubly funny bc when my mom taught me how to shave (remember I was 13) she told me to use my dad's razor. (which is probably pretty weird but thats what happened) and then I just... never had my own razor x'D until I went to college. so i was shaving with my dad's razor all through my teen years, and my dad still didn't think I was shaving??? he thought i was intentionally choosing to look like a yeti, at like fifteen, because I was such a radical feminist. that is hilarious because if anything describes me at fifteen, it'd be conservative. I was still pretty entrenched in evangelical christianity back then. and i'd been taught by church, and specifically by my dad, that feminism was just whiny and full of lies. if he said he thought i was being a European feminist lol when I was like twenty-five, that'd be different, but at fifteen? bahahaha.

and then more recently. i don't remember what it was but some video on youtube I think, someone was talking about rejecting make-up as a form of feminism, resisting the patriarchy and all that. and of course I know about that, same as I do know about women who choose not to shave for feminist reasons. but because of the conversation with my dad I'm now wondering. are people looking at me and thinking she doesn't wear makeup because she's an extreme feminist? she goes to protests and flashes her boobs while shrieking into a megaphone? looooool. I don't wear makeup because I hate the feeling of having stuff caked on my face, I hate having to take it off, I hate having to pay for it, I hate having to try a hundred different brands just to find something that kind of occasionally works on me. I'm fine with my face. It's not an amazingly beautiful face. but it's mine. i have no problems with it. other people might but i'm not being some super feminist by not caring about it, i just don't actually care.

that being said I am feminist and will defend anyone's right to shave or not shave, wear makeup or not wear makeup. just like maybe ask people before you leap to conclusions. its so weird that everything i do has to be some kind of statement. i just don't like wearing makeup or shaving, that is it, there's no deeper meaning to it lmao

The World Is So Much Better For Transgender People

Holy smokes. What I saw in December blew me away. I’m only publishing this now because I schedule posts eight weeks in advance. But it’s no less amazing. It’s a testament to the unfolding perfection of All That Is and how All That Is supports transgender people. Even when it looks like it doesn’t.

A long-time cisgender friend prompted this post. He’s a strong progressive cause ally, including supporting the transgender community. We’re kindred that way. That’s why I wasn’t surprised to get his text. But I was surprised by what he shared.

He shared a link to a video. My friend does this infrequently, but frequently enough that I don’t click on links he sends me right away. But with this one, I did. Because the thumbnail compelled me.

The video promotes a whiskey product. It’s one of the best cause marketing commercials I’ve seen. And I should know about cause marketing because in a previous incarnation, I worked in PR and Corporate Social Responsibility. Take a look:

A beautiful story beautifully told

The commercial begins with an elderly couple. While the husband sits in a chair, the wife wanders about the house on the phone. Unbeknownst to the wife, the husband has a predisposition for women’s make up. He goes into the bathroom, locks the door and tries practicing with lipstick…but his results frustrates him.

Several scenes indicate the man’s depth of interest. It’s almost as if the guy questions his interest in such a thing. Nonetheless, he ends up getting pretty good at applying makeup to his own face.

But then, during the holiday season, the extended family shows up for familial celebrations. Among the family members is 26-year-old “Alvaro”. Who we now understand as Alvaro’s grandfather, looks at his grandson and has a hunch. He invites the young person into the bathroom wherein the two have an intensely personal, intimate moment.

The two exit the bathroom and, to everyone’s astonishment, Alvaro is now “Ana”. The entire family is in tears and Ana is heartily welcomed.

“Transgender”: Here to stay

Thirty-plus years ago when rap music wasn’t what it is today, the famous Quincy Jones produced a song called “Back on the Block”. Among samples he used in his production was a statement by Rev. Jessie Jackson. Towards the end of the song, which is a medley of various rap genre’s, Jackson is sampled saying:

“Now I would – I would contend that ah – The rappers – rap is here to stay”

Thirty years later, rap is still going strong. Jackson was right.

In the same way, we are seeing something similar with transgender people. So many successful transgender people now exist. Not only are they in entertainment, they also are in politics and business and mental health. They’re authors, speakers, teachers. They’re everywhere. 

And more are coming in to the world all the time.

It makes being a transgender person in the world much easier. More than ever, transgender people can find support in abundance. The fact that a major liquor brand is on board with transgender people is astonishing. Especially so as the ad J&B produced is in Spanish. The language of a culture that, in some places around the world still considers being gay a crime. And being trans something worse.

The world is so much better for transgender people. I only hope that more transgender people discover what my transgender clients discover. That is that the only thing keeping a transgender person these days from discovering and then living a joyful life are the stories such a person tells, which creates something different from the life they want.

The world is increasingly on the side of transgender people. Of course, it’s always been that way. But today it’s more so than ever. What a great time to be alive Transgender or Trans-attacted!

I keep seeing tiktoks of brand new beauty products, lotion that will remove the wrinkles on your neck, creams to stop aging, a cooling mask to wear like a facial pool floatie infused with the fountain of youth. why are they so afraid of aging? they brag of not looking old at age 27, they're still so, so young, buy my new product, you won't rot once you get to the ancient number 30.

people metaphorically step back aghast in twitter replies "you're in your 20's? i thought you were young!" when did young start being middle aged?

fuck, i once saw preventative botox advertised by someone who was still young enough to have had a smartphone in their teens. i'm young. i'm not going to stay that way. why is everyone so afraid? i understand that there's a world out there, taxes and housing and bills and expenses but why are so many people so ashamed of looking older than a highschooler? erase your smile lines, your crows feet, your evidence that you've *lived*. i want to live.

the other night i was sitting next to my grandma on the couch with jeopardy on tv. she called out the names of celebrities and actresses and tv shows and musicians and i scraped the bottom of my bowl with my fork in hand, listening with amazement that she knew so much more than i did. and i knew just one question about a type of fish, sturgeon. she lived. i can see where her skin folds when she smiles, her hands wrinkled and i know those hands have seen and felt so many more things than i have, experienced so much more of the world than i have.

she is a center of cumulative knowledge and experiences and her hands have held others and i can see the well-worn path the corner of her lip takes when it quirks up in a grin. we both take bites of food from the same pot watching the same show on the same couch.

i will see the same videos about not using straws so you don't get pucker lines, 50 step skincare routines as to look baby smooth, instructions on how to look young forever. but i hope that down the line i will have love etched into my skin, i will have stories of things i've experienced, and i will have lived.

I had a really excellent day off. And I tried really hard to not let my brain gaslight me into feeling bad for not being productive. Because in reality I was productive!

I slept okay. My back was cold and I woke up a few times. I stayed in bed a little longer then I was planning. I had split my toenail in half yesterday and I had tried to use nail polish to keep it together but as I was laying there I got it caught on my blanket and it hurt really bad!! So I did get up and deal with that. And then went to get dressed.

And I felt like a pretty princess today. I am loving the necklace stack. This new dress is excellent and flowy. James made me an omelette for breakfast. Things were good.

I would have my Google call with Alexi at 10. So I spent the hour hanging out on the couch with James. Then I I got everything together to set up in our bedroom to get on the call.

I was getting very anxious and my laptop decided that it can no longer support Google calls and will not update so I had to do it on my tablet and I found that James said unplugged my tablet and I was very upset about it. And then like 9:59 vacuuming in the next room and I was like dude what are you doing not the time. I was very upset. But I had to let it go and they went for a bike ride and then Alexi was on the call.

And it was a really good call. I don't have an official offer or anything like that but she said that she'll have numbers worked out by Friday. She gave me an offer I gave her an offer back. And we talked about the responsibilities and the ways that would break down and how it's a grant position so it might only last a year and she was wondering if I would be okay afterwards if they didn't get another brand and just working with the other programs and stuff. And I was like yeah no totally absolutely understandable and we talked about having flexible days but still being full-time. And I just feel really good about all of it. I did ask for a little less than I had originally wanted but it was still more that I make now. So I would be basically doubling my regular paycheck. And that just is really cool. I can finally get some savings and put me and James in a better position.

Drive for yelling at them and they were on there very long bike ride so I just chilled in bed. I just enjoyed a few hours with the sun coming in the room and watching videos and it's so nice. No expectations on me at all.

When James got home they went and got cleaned up and we would spend some time laying around together and eventually I would go into the studio to do some sewing. I got a shirt in the mail that looked really cute in pictures but it's not flattering so I changed the neckline and the sleeves and I love it so much more now. I'll probably wear it next week. And I was just feeling very good. I would collect all of my stuff for going away this weekend my parents house and making sure I had justice thing and a couple things that I wanted to bring back there. Specifically flavored syrups for the sodaStream for my dad. And then I just spent some time in bed with Sweetp. And I painted my nails and I think they look really nice.

James asked me if I wanted to go for a walk. And I didn't but I knew that I would feel better if I did. So I said okay and I fixed my makeup and put on shoes and we went for a nice walk around then it cried. And it was a beautiful day. I really felt good walking around. I really love the temperature right now and we talked a lot about how if this is about the high of temperatures while we're in Alaska what clothes and shoes we might need to bring and how we're going to probably do a test pack soon and how our trip is coming up really soon I'm really excited about it. I really can't wait. And it was nice just walking all around with James and enjoying the nice weather.

When we got back James made you text Max for dinner. I had a quesadilla and they had a burrito. And we chilled on the couch for a while. And eventually James went to go watch baseball stuff and I refilled the fish tanks and went to work in the studio for a bit.

I don't want to abandon my resin pins. But the last couple batches just will not set properly and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I think I need a new measuring tool because it's one to one it shouldn't be this difficult. And honestly I probably should wearing gloves because it's really messing up my skin. But I worked in there for a while and then I decided to practice on my darning loom because I'm going to have that visible mending workshop in April and I want to be able to show how to use that properly and do it with a darning egg or hoop as well. And my practice really is working out well and I'm pretty much getting consistent lines now which is nice and finishing it better than I used to. Just got to keep practicing.

Eventually I would take a shower and me and sweetp have been laying in bed for a while. I think I'm going to go brush my teeth and get ready for bed now.

I'm at Campbell day tomorrow for an adventure program. I'm doing ground elements and I'm looking forward to it. And it's supposed to be another beautiful day so let's hope that the weather is nice and I have a lot of fun with the 5th graders. Good night everyone. Be safe.

Look out of the nearest window. What do you see? Details, please. I’m settled in bed and it’s too dark out to actually see anything, but I can tell you that the only things you’d be able to see are the neighbors’ houses (from my room you can see the houses to the left of and behind ours) and some trees.

When you think of the word “posh”, what springs to mind? The Spice Girls. > Okay, same!

When you have chocolate, do you eat it room temperature? Or are you like me and stick the bar into the fridge first? Well we have to put in the ref because otherwise it will melt and become all messy and a hassle to eat. We also can’t leave it out anyway because ants.

What’s the most shocking thing that’s happened in your part of town? There was a house in this neighborhood that got raided or something a few years back because of drug possession; even got featured on national TV. I didn’t care much for it and if anything the only reason I paid attention was the fact that the route we take going home was featured on the news LOL

Which brand are your headphones/earbuds? It’s a generic, unbranded pair. I lost the earbuds that came with my phone so I just opted for something cheap as I don’t usually use earphones anyway.

Do you see planes fly over your house at all? Yeah they come around fairly regularly.

Are there any constellations you recognize just by looking at them? Just those three stars that are part of Orion but otherwise I’m not good at all at identifying constellations.

Which room of your house/apartment do you spend the most time in? Either my room or the dining area since we let the dogs roam around there.

Which insect do you find the most beautiful? Fireflies.

Did you have crafts/woodwork at school growing up? Nope.

If so, what was the best assignment you did for it? We never had it but we did do some fun things for home econ (although I didn’t find them fun at the time, ha) like sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, etc.

What was the last thing you got very excited about? Jihope visiting Jin at the military gave me a level of happiness nobody would ever be able to understand. He looks so happy and healthy and well-fed :) You can go to any city in any country you want. Which city do you go to? SEOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you think of a classy drink, what comes to mind first? Martinis.

Do you prefer eating out or cooking your own meals? Tbh neither; I like getting my food delivered. But if I had to exclusively pick between these two, I’d go with eating out.

Which language do you think is the most complicated to learn? Just about every single form of Chinese. Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese...just the way that the meaning of same-spelling words differ depending on the tone it’s said is already super overwhelming. It’s very fascinating.

Is there a place that you might call your second home? UP.

How do you imagine your later life to look like? Satisfaction with who I’ve grown up to become and ended up achieving, and lots of leisure traveling.

What is a job you would never in a million years want to do? Film production. I’ve participated at several video shoots for work and have dreaded every single fucking part of it. The early call times, set design changes, multiple takes...I’m just too impatient for it all.

Is there a piece of jewelry that you feel naked without? No.

Do you ever “go commando”? Rarely.

What’s the sweetest thing someone’s done for you? I have to go with the time Andi gave me a handwritten letter, a physical copy of Petals for Armor, and a CM Punk shirt for Christmas – in the same year. That was the lowest I’ve ever been, so it felt nice to have someone who apparently remembers everything I love.

Which wild animals are a common sight in your area? Just birds and frogs.

What’s the weirdest building in your city? The architecture is not weird per se, but we do have an abandoned Starbucks when you drive up the mountain part of the city. Apparenty the contractor or owner or whoever it is got caught up in permit issues and the store never actually launched, so now it just looks like a sad, lonely Starbucks overlooking the Metro Manila skyline.

How do you keep in touch with friends usually? Messenger. All other messaging platforms are reserved for work, so I don’t like talking to friends on those because it makes me more stressed than anything.

Do you get a lot of visitors? Nah, my friends and I get together at home usually only when there’s a BTS thing happening...so safe to say we’re not getting any of these sessions any time soon, at least until 2025 or 2026.

Is there a subtle way your partner gets you excited easily? I don’t have a partner.

Do you recognize friends’/family’s vehicles by sound? Not me but the dogs are excellent at identifying when my mom’s about to arrive back home.

Which Disney villain is your favourite? I don’t really have a favorite Disney villain. Non-Disney villains on the other hand...Gus Fring will always have a special place in my ever-cold heart.

On a regular day, what do you usually do at 3 o'clock in the afternoon? Neck-deep in work.

Which possession would you not want to inherit from a relative? Clothes. Secondhand clothing makes me feel icky for some reason.

What is something you would never dare to do in public? Uhm...masturbate, I guess??

Would you/ did you have a hen night/bachelorette party? Sure, if I reach that point.

Has anyone taken you on holiday somewhere? If so, where? No. When you left the house last time, where did you go? Just church. Went home right after as all of us were feeling pretty tired.

How did you spend your last birthday? Filed a leave off work and sat on the couch all day until I took my family out for a ramen dinner. Then that same weekend, my friends and I went to Zambales for a quick beach vacation.
