hiiii!!! i love, love, loveeee your writings!
if it’s fine, I’d like to request Valeria, Kate, Farah, and Price with an s/o who dances folklorico (traditional mexican folk dances) if you can! Im a folklorico dancer so it’d be nice to see how you would personally think these 4 would be lol ^^
Hello! Thank you! That's more than fine, but I had to do some research on it since I've never heard about folklorico before! I hope it's alright still!
Price, Valeria, Farah and Laswell with a Folklorico-Dancer!S/O
Price: He has never heard of folklorico before, but he’s always willing to learn about something new, especially if it’s something relating to you or your heritage. Or just about anything that makes you happy. So naturally, you brought up folklorico at some point and he asked you about it. While he can’t really imagine what it would look like just from your verbal descriptions alone, he does look into it when he has the time, thinking it would be something nice he could dance with you. As soon as he sees the footwork of those men and how they hold their hands behind their backs he’s thoroughly impressed, albeit a bit intimidated. Price would love nothing more than to indulge you in your culture, eat your food, speak your language, dance your dances, but this doesn’t seem like something he could learn overnight. He just knows he’ll topple and fall over if he tries. But nevertheless, he consults you since it does seem really fun. It’s very fast paced and the dresses, the gorgeous dresses, are very colorful. You can teach him if you want, he’s a pretty good student. Although it will take him some time to become your counterpart, he does his best to learn as quickly as possible. At first he will be content with just watching you, though. If you’re a professional dancer then he’ll go to your shows if he can. And if he can’t be there in person then he’ll try his darndest to be able to watch the show afterwards. Folklorico, in his eyes, is so elegant and mesmerizing, he’d be a fool to miss out on such a thing. Will ask you to dance with him every once in a while, he’s not really afraid of making a fool out of himself in front of you, as long as it’s just you.
Valeria: She knows about folklorico. She knows about it very well since it’s part of her culture. If you ask her about it, she’ll claim she knows how to dance. This, however, is complete and utter nonsense, Valeria can’t dance particularly well. Slow dances, yes, but nothing this fast paced. You can ask her to dance with you, she’ll always find an excuse to not do so and watch you instead. Sometimes, if you really insist, she might growl a bit and tell you off before watching you dance on your own anyway. Don’t get me wrong, though, she loves the fact that you can dance folklorico. While she may not be as connected to her culture, seeing you dance does fill her with some form of pride for Mexico. You look absolutely stunning, spinning and tapping away, no one could ever match you and your energy or your beauty. Although Valeria would absolutely love to dance some folklorico with you at some point, she knows she’d just make a fool of herself, so she leaves you alone, for the most part. However, you can count on her to get you the most jaw dropping dresses or suits in the entire country. You will look dapper whenever you’re on stage, that’s for sure. Like Price, she’ll try to go and see your shows when she can, but don’t count on it since she, too, is a very busy woman. Will also look for ways to watch your shows afterwards, and if she can’t then she’ll just have you give her a private show. As mentioned before, seeing you dance like this fills her with some form of pride, so, when you’re done and panting, she might just pull you in for a kiss and tell you just how well you did as you were dancing. Please continue to do so, she absolutely adores it.
Farah: She has never heard about folklorico before, but you can’t particularly blame her either, she spent her entire life in Urzikstan fighting for freedom, so she doesn’t necessarily know too much about the world around her. However, she’s interested as soon as you tell her you’re a folklorico dancer. Like Price, she won’t really be able to imagine what it is you do based on you telling her how you dance, but you can always give her a little demonstration. She’s absolutely blown away by your moves, regardless of whether you’re twirling around in your dress or stepping away in your suit, she loves it. Farah does try to dance with you as well, but be warned, she has no experience in dancing whatsoever since she never had the time to properly learn. So, in the beginning, you’ll both probably just be twirling and spinning around, but at some point she would like to learn about your dance and your culture so she can be a part of it as well. In turn, she’ll teach you about her culture as well since she does love sharing it too. However, Farah is a very quick learner. She’s very quick on her feet and is able to keep up with you sooner rather than later, so at some point you will be dancing together, she’s determined to do so. Although she might not have the time and resources to get you your own suit or dress, she’s more than happy to make do with whatever she has. Farah can’t sew either, though, so she will just be using whatever she has at home. Due to what she does, she likely doesn’t have the time to watch your shows either, not even a rerun. You’re just gonna have to convince her of your capabilities as a dancer in person, what a bummer. Might sometimes mimic your movements as you dance. Not out of malice, but one day she just wants to be as good as you are, that’s all.
Laswell: She’s heard about folklorico as well. In fact, she’s been to cultural festivals all around the world and likely has seen some couples dance it together on stage, even if she might never have really known the proper name for it. But she remembers having seen it before. As soon as you tell her that you know how to dance folklorico, she’s very impressed. It was rather fast paced, something that likely takes quite some time to learn, so she can appreciate your dedication to it. Laswell isn’t the youngest anymore, but she’s still got some moves. While I don’t think she’d be able to dance proper folklorico with you, she will come watch you instead. Another one, who gets you the absolute nicest clothes out there to dance in. Does get a bit jealous when she watches you dance with someone else, but she gets over it fairly quickly since she knows you and her are a thing, not you and the other person. Sometimes she wonders how you don’t get dizzy, but it’s another thing she can admire properly about you. You’re just so beautiful while you’re dancing, plus you look like you’re having fun, and that’s all that matters to her. Will also ask you to dance for her when Laswell’s mind is full and she needs a distraction from it all. It’s just so elegant and it looks like it would be so much fun. Eventually, she’d give in and ask you to teach her a bit. She’s not doing that bad either, though. She, too, has somewhat quick feet, but she also has the determination to learn. Not as good and quick as Farah, but she tries. Loves, loves, loves the fact that you want to share your culture with her, is always more than willing to learn about it. Besides, what’s more beautiful than learning about a culture that isn’t your own? Everything about it is so cool to her, she’ll thank you for introducing her to it more properly.

Dancing With Visions - Wish to Dance - Slow Waltz - Neuvillette
Author Notes: This is the fourth fic for my "Dancing with Visions" fic series for Genshin Impact! The slow waltz, also called the English waltz, is one of the more famous styles of ballroom dancing. It is, as the name implies, slower than the Viennese Waltz. This fic was largely inspired by the dance scene from the 2015 film "Crimson Peak." I've never actually seen the movie, but I did really like the scene after watching it on Youtube. Just like the rest of this series, reader is female. I hope you enjoy!
If you would like to read more of this series, the fics can be found here: Dancing with Visions Masterlist.
Type: Female reader/ Implied romantic/ fluff/ dance/ sfw
Word Count: 1609

Fontaine was ever a glittering world of drama, comedy, and theatrics. This was true even in their celebrations. Supposedly respectful and filled with the elegance of old as couples swirled amongst each other in rhythmic motions. Dancing through the brightly lit room just like the fish that swam in the sea that surrounded the nation of Justice.
It was a beautiful sight. Like something out of a play or magnificent story where two lovers would meet one another and share their first dance. But then perhaps that was just your more romantic side talking.
It was interesting to see everyone dancing together, though. The knowledge that similar motions occurred to the same song even though there were feelings in each dancer’s heart had a smile appearing on your face as you watched people spiral around the floor.
Off to the side, you could see Furina watching over the spectacle from a wall, much like you were. One of her hands was raised as if she herself were directing the music and bidding people to dance as they felt moved to. And there was a certain longing to dance with the atmosphere that filled the place, even though you hung back in a manner similar to the former archon. Watching in silence instead of joining the people around you, despite any temptation you felt.
Because, for better or worse, despite the glittering lights, beautiful music, and smiling faces, Fontaine was a nation of judgment just as much as it was a nation of justice.
It wasn’t that you feared others' judgment when dancing was a thing to be enjoyed, but you also didn’t really think you could bear it if you were to mess up in front of so many people.
So you watched, swaying slightly along with the music but holding back and watching as your more talented peers danced across your gaze. Shining brightly as they spiraled through the light cast by the grandiose chandelier overhead.
And it wasn’t as if you and Furina weren’t the only ones not dancing. You could see Charlotte off to the side, taking pictures. Aiming her camera towards where Navia spiraled across the floor in someone’s arms. A bright smile on her face. The perfect choice for the cover of whatever story Charlotte was going to be doing on this evening’s dance that was so filled with the who's-who of Fontaine.
Similarly, Clorinde stood off to the side. No doubt standing guard even as she watched her blonde-haired friend captivate the entire ballroom, including yourself.
So caught were you in the sight of everyone’s beautiful motions, smiling faces, and the glittering spectacle that you almost missed the sight of the man who was crossing the room towards where you stood.
Almost, but not quite.
You felt your eyes widen slightly as you looked towards where Neuvillette was carefully navigating his way through the room to where you stood. He was someone who never seemed to partake in the dancing that occurred at these functions.
Like you, he seemed satisfied to just watch from where he would stand silently off to the side. And though you had always gotten along fairly well with Neuvillette, he never joined you where you stood. Instead, it seemed more like he preferred to watch in silence on his own, and you respected that.
Which was why you were surprised to see him approaching you and gave him your full attention as he emerged from the crowd to stand before you.
“Y/n,” He greeted you in that ever-calm tone of his, as if nothing could ever truly sway him. And you smiled slightly, inclining your head respectfully. Because even though you knew he preferred not to have anyone make such a big deal over his position as Iudex, it was best to behave as expected in such public environments.
What he did next startled you, though. Causing you to falter even before you could truly greet him as he held out his hand in a silent request.
You found yourself glancing around nervously, immediately noticing how Furina’s wide-eyed gaze shifted towards where you and Neuvillette stood. And all at once, people slowly started to notice what was occurring in your once quiet little corner of the ballroom.
“What are you doing?” Your voice was a hushed, uncertain whisper as your gaze flickered back to his, only to find him still looking at you with utter calm. Completely unbothered by the reactions of others.
But he was innately capable of standing apart from others and not letting his thoughts, actions, or judgements be swayed by what anyone else seemed to think. It was what made him so respected as Iudex, and it was one of the things that you admired about him.
“When a couple dances, their motions can become as fluid as those of water itself,” He paused, watching me silently as if waiting for a reaction before sighing slightly. “You always watch others dance, but never join them, and I find myself wondering, do you not wish to dance yourself?”
You blinked at his words, surprisingly on point despite the flowery language that had hid his meaning to start with, “I…. I do not think it would necessarily be wise for me to do so considering I am nowhere near as talented as others.”
You toyed with the skirt of your dress awkwardly as you hesitated before continuing, “Perhaps there is someone better suited to dancing with you. Such as Navia or someone else.”
You smiled at him carefully, knowing perfectly well how people would react to anyone dancing with Neuvillette. Much less yourself, someone known to stand on the outskirts of balls.
A smile flickered across his face, fast enough that you almost missed it, “Ah, but I did not ask Miss Navia or anyone else. I asked you.”
At his words, your gaze fell once more to his still-outstretched palm, your own hand lifting but hesitating just short of his before you at last let your fingers rest in his.
His fingers curled over and around yours easily, and he stepped backwards, slowly leading you out onto the dancefloor and completely ignoring the veritable swathe of people who immediately looked towards where you stood together. Slowly slipping into hold as your free hand reached up to his shoulder and his arm wrapped around you so that he could rest his hand on your back.
“Why?” Your voice was beyond hushed, but he still heard you. Tilting his head as he silently pushed you to continue. To explain your question.
So swallowing, you did. “Why are we doing this?”
His lips twitched as he inclined his head and spoke, “Because you deserve to enjoy these lights just as much as anyone else.”
You smiled at his words, half-amused as you met his gaze, “Even when this will most definitely cause people to talk?”
He stayed silent, and you found yourself frowning once more, “What if they start to talk about you? I know how you prefer to avoid the limelight and-”
Neuvillette shook his head at your words, cutting you off with the simple motion before he ever began to speak, “I’m not doing anything so strange. I am merely doing what any gentleman would. ”
He paused, straightening slightly as other dancers slowly began to take up their positions around the floor, their gazes staying on the two of you even as he continued, “People will talk no matter what I do, so let them talk.”
You smiled again at his words, touched by his meaning but still concerned that he was forcing himself, even as he inclined his head towards you, “Shall we?”
As if you could stop now, as the music began with both of you already in position and the eyes of everyone in the room on us. But you also knew that if you wanted to back out now, Neuvillette would agree.
You swallowed and nodded, “If you are certain that this is what you wish to do.”
He smiled at your words, a genuine expression that caused your eyes to widen slightly since, even though you’d spoken with him numerous times and had seen him smile before, it was still a surprise to see such an easy expression slip across the face of the man known all over as the respected Iudex.
“It is my honor,” And with only those words, he began to guide you into the motions of a gentle, spiraling dance that everyone in Fontaine knew.
A slow waltz. A simple dance that left room for conversation while still imparting the joys of dancing.
It was a dance that fit Neuvillette and had you relaxing into your interaction with him as you smiled.  Because if there was any dance you were confident in doing, it was this one. Especially if Neuvillette was your partner. You knew he would never lead you astray.
You swirled around the room together, rising and falling to the distinctive tempo of the song like the ebb and flow of the sea itself and never faltering. Not even as you reached the very end and he released you to spin out from him so that you were only attached by one hand still held in his.
And you were surprised to see you weren’t looking at anyone else in the room as the onlookers politely began to applaud for all who had danced. Instead, your eyes were on Neuvillette as you smiled at him, and he held your gaze with a small smile of his own.
And as easily as that you realized that there was no one else you would rather waltz with.

WIP Wednesday Thursday
Happy Thursday y'all! It's been a while since I gave an update on the Dancing with the Stars Dieter fic, Closed Position.
Tumblr media
As mentioned before, I do not plan to fully dive into this fic and start posting until Destiny & Deliverance has been completed. However, there is only one chapter and the epilogue left (I'm not ready). Since, it's not that far off...I have started working on my outline for dancing Dieter. More below the cut. 👇
Tumblr media
I have it planned out fairly well, so I am sharing my chapter list with you today. This could change slightly when I start digging in, but this is the format I'm going with:
Prologue
Introductions
Week 1 - Foxtrot
Week 2 - Cha Cha
Week 3 - Jive
Week 4 - Rumba
Week 5 - Argentine Tango
Week 6 - Paso Doble
Week 7 - Jazz
Week 8 - Viennese Waltz
Week 9 - Quickstep
Week 10 - Samba
Week 11 - Finale
Epilogue
I've been doing a ton of homework on the show, so I plan to incorporate a lot of crazy behind the scenes stuff that actually happens and makes for an entertaining plot. Anyone down for a weekly spray tan? No? Dieter isn't a fan either.
This fic will not be anywhere near as angsty as D & D. However, some tough topics are mentioned, mostly relating to Kat's (OFC) asshole ex who will be very present as another professional dancer on the show. Then of course, Dieter's issues with drugs and alcohol are discussed too. He will be sober in this fic, but early on in his journey. Still very much our loveable, hot mess trash panda though.
I would like to do a lot more extras with this fic. I plan to share some inspiration videos for each chapter so you will have a visual of the dances. I think it will help you understand what ultimately causes Dieter and Kat to fall for each other. If nothing else, the visuals are just hot AF.
There will be a lot of Latin dances, just because we have to show off Dieter's loose hips. You know there are going to be jokes about that. I feel like it's a good excuse to take Dieter's button allergy up a few notches too. 😏 Here is a sexy little Rumba video to get us started. This dance may or may not be the one that gets them in trouble...🤐

Series Summary: Dieter Bravo was looking to change his bad boy image and clean up his act after hitting rock bottom. His team hoped that having him join the nationally televised family friendly dance competition would be a good first step, if they can keep him out of trouble.
Katarina Stamos expected her last season as a professional dance partner to one of Hollywood’s biggest stars to go the same as it had for the past nine seasons. That all changed when she was partnered with the infamous Dieter Bravo.
Dieter and Katarina are reluctantly thrown into their partnership and must learn to work together to succeed in the competition. In the process they form a deeper connection beyond the dance floor that neither anticipated.
If you would like to be added to my taglist for this fic, feel free to comment below or shoot me a message and I will get you added.
Tumblr media
Tagging all my usuals. If this isn't a fic you would like to be tagged on, let me know and I will remove you. 😉

A Very Classy Night
For the Hellcheer Discord Hotties
NYC
June, 1989
It’s such a beautiful, iconic, warm and sexy New York night that they have to take advantage of it.
They’re dressed up, having left a fancy party thrown by or for a big donor at Chrissy’s dance school. It was in a fancy apartment on fifth avenue. Champagne, h’ors d’overs (Chrissy’s favorite food), beautiful art in a gorgeous, million-billion dollar apartment and an open bar.
Super classy.
Eddie was on his best behavior, he charmed all the rich wives and their staff. He meticulously pressed his suit and bought a tie with matching pocket square. He wore his pointy boots and his hair neatly tied at his nape. Chrissy thinks he’s so handsome she could die.
They bounce the classy party before everyone gets too drunk and things get inappropriate (Eddie thinks there’s a very sexual vibe between donors and dancers. Like, they throw money and you dance for them. Chilling.)
They’re not ready for this night to end, though! They have to hit as many bars as possible because they look and feel so cute. They want to get drunk and make out at a bar, then they want to go home, get stoned and make out some more.
A perfect Saturday night.
So Eddie’s twirling Chrissy as they walk down Fifth Avenue and they find themselves in front of the Plaza Hotel.
There’s fancy people coming in and out and they all look like they’ve been partying. Must be a wedding. It is a Saturday in June, after all.
Hmmmm.
It takes very little to persuade Chrissy to try to sneak into this fancy wedding.
They enter the hotel from a little used side door, feeling like spies. Chrissy is giggling so hard it makes Eddie get the giggles and they have to take some circular breaths to calm down. They put Eddie’s jacket on Chrissy, she holds her heels. Eddie tucks his hair into his popped (ugh) collar and he puts on his sunglasses for extra asshole vibes.
They stumble over, pretending to be drunk yuppies, like they’ve been at this party for hours. There’s no one to check them so they walk in with purpose to the bar.
The room is massive and there’s so many people…
This could be fun.
They grab two passed champagne flutes and sip nervously.
No one is looking at them.
The coast…is clear?
They nibble on some canapés.
They hit the dance floor when the band starts up on some Temptations.
They eat a couple of eclairs from the Viennese table.
This might actually work!
They’re back at the bar when one of the bridesmaids approaches them.
Uh oh.
“Great party right!” Chrissy chirps.
“Totally,” says bridesmaid “Who are you with?”
Oh NO.
“Michael!” Eddie croaks. “We’re Michael’s kids!”
“Michael who?”
“Michael Michael!”
Chrissy acts fast.
“He’s right over there!” she points to the far side of the room.
The bridesmaid looks over-
-THEN BITCH THEY ARE RUNNING-
Ok, not running, running, more like scooting away at a fast clip.
They zip down some halls and miraculously find a unisex bathroom to hide in.
Chrissy and Eddie are laughing and trembling so hard, oh my god.
They wait until they’re sure no one has followed them or called the cops or whatever rich people would do to two scalawags such as them.
Eventually they slide out and slink onto 58th street where they indulge in a cab to 13th street to stop at the Pony Keg because Eddie used to work there and drinks for (mostly) free.
On Monday Chrissy tells her dance friends about their adventure (turns out they left just in time. Things indeed get sexual; Antoine blew a waiter in the service stairwell and Lisette got multiple offers for threesomes. {She’ll do it if they pay her $500 cash})
So everybody had fun!
Years and years later, they’re at a HUGE charity gala at the Plaza. They’re having a great time schmoozing, sipping Champagne, feeling very rich and famous, when Eddie turns to Chrissy and says sotto voce
“ok, if anyone asks, tell them we’re with Michael”
Chrissy is confused, but Eddie sees the realization wash over her. She makes an undignified, loud, explosive laugh-snort and doubles over laughing, ending up squatting then sitting on the floor.
She’s crying laughing, she can’t breathe.
She’s doing Chrissy Laugh #234- “ah-HA! Ah-HA! Ah-Ha!” one of Eddie’s faves.
He’s holding her wrap and purse so they don’t end up with her. ON the floor of THEE Plaza Hotel. “Christine, please! The press is here! She’s not drunk, I swear!” he laughs. She’s so fucking cute, he wants to kiss her all over her adorable face.
The cameras flash all around them.
There’s a picture of Chrissy in her beautiful midnight blue satin gown, her hair, gleaming, diamonds at her ears and throat, at this major event…looking like she peed herself on the floor of the Plaza.
This picture?
It ends up in Vanity Fair.
It’s framed on Eddie’s desk.

If there were to be a dancer AU, what kind of dancers do you think some of the qsmp people would be? And maybe a duo is like- an actual duo in ice skating or ballet! Just a silly little idea I had in the back of my head :D
Tumblr media
several wikipedia searches and one very nostalgic re-watch of strictly ballroom later, i’ve returned with thoughts. good thoughts? ehhh. cohesive thoughts? an even less convincing ehhhh. but i do have thoughts!
anyways. have a competitive ballroom dance au made by someone who knows nothing about competitive ballroom dance
roier and spreen as long-term dance partners just makes sense in my brain, but naturally that has to end badly, probably because roier’s been chasing a relationship while spreen’s just been chasing a win. the last routine they competed with was a tango. (did you know there’s a variation called the argentine tango? it isn’t ballroom, but apparently, the accompanying music is known to be sad)
forever and cellbit have also been partners for- well, forever, and dating for most of that time, but naturally that also has to end. with a breakup. a messy, messy breakup that they can not stay professional throughout, and in the end it’s best for the team to split and give it time. the last routine they competed with was a samba. (ballroom samba is pretty disconnected from brazilian samba— samba de gafieira or samba pagode would be better examples of partnered brazilian sambas)
roier doesn’t actually meet cellbit through dance. he meets him at a coffee shop— where he then proceeds to recognize him from nationals and talk his fucking ear off about dance. see, roier is anxious to get back into competing, more out of spite than anything else. cellbit, on the other hand, is much more hesitant. he has no plans to go back any time soon. roier does still manage to talk him into visiting his studio, but that’s just for fun, he swears, just a little social thing, to mess around and practice. and maybe it is fun. maybe cellbit keeps going back, maybe it becomes a routine. maybe they really get along. maybe- maybe it’s a good distraction for roier, actually, to take his mind off competition and just enjoy dancing again. and maybe it’s good for cellbit to remember why he liked this enough to compete in the first place.
they do become a pair, eventually. and they do make it back to nationals. the first routine they compete with is a viennese waltz. (the main difference between a viennese waltz and a standard waltz is the tempo, but both are traditionally used for weddings)

I was just doing my hourly check-up on the Obey Me Barbatos tag and immediately ran when I saw this
Dance competition. Barbatos. Partners. YESHSIDJSKDISDK!!
By golly, just imagine MC and Barbatos absolutely stunning the entire crowd with something of a Viennese Waltz or even better; a Rumba!
Like, Barbatos has to be the perfect partner, right? I feel like this has to be canon. He could lead perfectly and follow perfectly, so no matter what MC would like to do, he will be amazing.
Even better than the performance, imagine the practices... being so close to him for such a long time would certainly make me melt. I just know he'd teasingly whisper to MC throughout the practice and compliment them at every chance.
Rumors circulate about their exact relationship after the performance. Although, no matter what the student body thinks, MC and Barbatos certainly know how they feel about one another after those practices...
Oh goodness.
While I can't remember any specific evidence of it, there's no doubt in my mind that Barbatos is a good dancer in canon. He has to be, I'm sure that's happened at some point.
Those practices... I have to agree with you on all counts.
I'm just imagining him leading with a hand on your waist, keeping you slightly closer to him than you strictly need to be. He twirls you then puts his hand on your back to press you into him. He smiles all gentle and soft and just says, "Well done, MC."
LIKE EXCUSE YOU SIR.
Or if you're leading and you dip him before dramatically pulling him back up into your arms. He knows he's supposed to step away to continue to the next move, but he lingers too close and says, "You move me so well, MC."
You see, this guy is a secret menace. Acts all sweet and charming but he's a total flirt and takes every advantage of this situation.
The tension builds and builds with each practice session. You're both about to lose your minds because you want each other so bad, but you're also focused on the competition.
You dance - it's spectacular because of course it is - you win the coveted glass slippers - but more importantly you win the chance to finally give in to all those feelings. Nobody sees either you or Barbatos for a couple of days. What was that about rumors? Yeah, they're going crazy lol.
This is indeed a fantastic scenario~

Steddie Dancing With the Stars AU Part 3 (from twitter a little while ago)
part 1:
part 2:
After the excitement of Monday night, Eddie’s glad to have a day off. He spends Tuesday stretching out his aching muscles, lazing around the apartment that he’s been staying in for the last five weeks.
Steve texts him on Tuesday night:
Ready to go again tomorrow? Think you might like this one.
Eddie smiles, glad that the camaraderie has continued off the stage. The exaltation of Monday night still sends thrills through him as he remembers what little he can of the shining lights, the rapturous applause.
Though it’s Steve’s voice that remains clear as crystal in his ear - "That was incredible! You were incredible!". It sends a ripple of something across his shoulders as he remembers the glee in Steve’s smile, the way his arms had felt around Eddie’s neck.
Eddie types back, thumbs hovering for a moment as he carefully chooses his words:
Can’t wait. See you at 8:30.
It’s not exactly the most poetic thing Eddie’s ever written, but it’ll suffice.
Tuesday comes, and Steve introduces Eddie to the viennese waltz. It’s a lot of spinning.
He talks Eddie through the general conceit of the dance; it’s star-crossed lovers, it’s meeting at a ball, it’s masquerade. And for the first time, there’ll be other dancers on the stage with them. Only for the first 30 seconds, to help set the scene, but they’re to navigate their way through them, crossing the ballroom as though drawn by an unseen force.
Eddie sits in silence for a moment after Steve’s demonstrated his part of the dance - he’ll be following where Steve leads this time - before slapping his knees, rising to his feet and announcing; "Okay, i’m wearing a mask, we’re twirling around all over the place, and there’s other people in the way. What could go wrong?"
And what could go wrong indeed.
Nothing terrible in the first two days of rehearsal, but Eddie finds himself gripping Steve’s arm just a little bit tighter as he attempts to remain upright in the tumult of twirls and spins.
"Don’t fight it, pick your points around the room and find them," Steve urges as Eddie stumbles over his own feet.
"I’m trying. Why the fuck do people do this for fun?"
Steve chuckles lightly, says, "Okay, how about we work on your form?"
"My form?"
"Step back, and show me what you look like in hold," Steve commands, dropping his hands, and Eddie blinks at him, still a little dizzy.
"Uh…sure. Like this?" Eddie shakes his head a little to force away the last of his unsteadiness, raises his arms back to where he thinks they’d be if Steve were closer.
Steve stalks around him, scrutinizing each extended finger, and it’s fine - really, it’s fine - when Steve’s fingertips push eddie’s elbow upwards just a fraction. It’s totally cool when Steve uses the toe of his shoe to nudge Eddie’s foot a little further inwards. What really sets Eddie’s heart racing though, is when Steve stands beside him, reaches around with his right hand, and presses the flats of his first two fingers to the side of Eddie’s jaw.
He guides Eddie’s head back, encouraging him to turn his face, and when he does, Eddie sees Steve with his jaw set and his nostrils ever so slightly flared. Eddie’s breath catches in his throat, suddenly terrified to escape for fear it might bring Eddie’s thoughts with it through his mouth. And then Steve speaks, low and purring.
"Good, Eddie. That’s really good."
And he can’t help it. He can’t help the little surprised whimper that slips from his mouth. It doesn’t matter how fast he swallows around it, it’s already fled between his lips. And there’s something entirely unknowable in Steve’s eyes. something dark.
"This is…okay?" Eddie asks, suddenly shy in an entirely unfamiliar way.
"Perfect. Shall we continue?" Eddie can only nod in answer, dipping his tongue out to wet his lips.
As Steve returns to his position in front of Eddie, he wonders why he feels dizzy again, even though he’s been totally still for a full minute. Turns out it might not just be the waltz that’s making his head spin.

Grete Wiesenthal (9 December 1885 – 22 June 1970) was an Austrian dancer, actor, choreographer, and dance teacher. She transformed the Viennese Waltz from a staple of the ballroom into a wildly ecstatic dance. She was trained at the Vienna Court Opera, but left to develop her own more expressive approach, creating ballets to music by Schreker, Franckenstein, and Salmhofer, as well as dancing in her own style to the waltzes.
She is considered a leading figure in modern dance in Austria. via Wikipedia

Series Summary: Dieter Bravo, now sober, was looking to change his bad boy image after hitting rock bottom. His team hoped that having him join the nationally televised family friendly dance competition, Dancing with the Stars, would be a good first step, if they can keep him out of trouble.
Katarina Stamos expected her last season as a professional dancer on the show to go the same as it had for the past thirteen seasons. That all changed when she was partnered with the infamous Dieter Bravo.
Dieter and Katarina are reluctantly thrown into their partnership and must learn to work together to succeed in the competition. In the process they form a deeper connection beyond the dance floor that neither anticipated.
👉 Warnings: Themes dealing with intimate partner violence, past alcohol abuse, and past drug abuse. There will be fluff, tears, spicy language, and smut. This will be a slow burn. Read at your own risk. Dieter Bravo comes with his own warnings.

Viennese Waltz- Youngsters Like You - Strictly NRC Dancing
Author's Notes: Normally I only post on Strictly NRC Dancing fic a week but I kind of feel like this one is a little weaker than the others so I'm posting two. The featured character in this one was surprisingly difficult to write. But anyway, I watched Disney's Cinderella (animated and live action) dance scenes to help me along with this fic, but I still struggled a bit since I'm not entirely sure that either of those waltzes are actually Viennese. I also listened to Shostakovich's Waltz no. 2 While writing this one. Just like the rest of this AU/series the reader is female for this fic. I hope you enjoy!

I shifted slightly, easily slipping into hold with Trein and allowing the older man to slowly lead me in the whirling but graceful dance that was known as the Viennese waltz.
I’d realized it back when Crewel had first been teaching me this specific dance. The Viennese waltz was possibly the most recognizable dance of all, considering it showed up in so many movies.
And I could honestly say that I was pleased to have Trein as my partner for this performance.
It wasn’t that I didn’t like dancing with the other staff members. Truthfully speaking, all of them were good dancers. But dancing with Trein was somewhat reassuring, kind of like how I imagined dancing with one’s father or grandfather would be.
Plus, Trein was quite experienced with this dance. He’d told me so during choreography practice. He’d apparently danced the Viennese waltz with his late wife at their wedding.
I also had the sneaking suspicion that they had been one of the couples that would dance in their home, so there was no telling how often they’d at least feigned a waltz.
He’d apparently also assisted both of his daughters when they learned to dance. The mere idea of him carefully dancing with the two young women brought a smile to my face.
The usually stern professor taking the time to help his daughters practice.
I had no doubts that he’d been a doting father. It was obvious just from the way he talked about them.
He spun me around easily, ever-relaxed as he led me through the storied steps of the waltz. A dance that he’d apparently taken part in throughout his life. And even now I could say Trein was a good dancer.
More proper and restrained than some of the others I’d danced with, but there was no question as to his ability. I could not have asked for a better person to lead me through this performance.
I smiled slightly as we continued to swirl elegantly around the brightly lit floor, easily matching the odd tune that came across as both romantic and uneasy in nature. Trein’s eyebrows arched slightly, “Something amusing?”
I shook my head, “No, I was just thinking that waltzing like this is actually rather enjoyable.”
A smile appeared on his face, the same smile that had made the laugh lines that I now noticed on his face with slight surprise since he was so often frowning, “Good. Youngsters like you should enjoy yourselves like this. Dancing is meant to be enjoyed.”
Like this… I suppose he met that in comparison to other alternatives for amusement that we ‘youngsters’ might use. He was, after all, frequently annoyed with things like jokes and whatnot.
But he wasn’t wrong. Dances, even ones as old as the Viennese waltz, were meant to be enjoyed. Especially so by the so-called ‘youngsters’ who typically performed them.
We swirled to a stop, and polite applause sounded before we both turned to approach the judges table. Trein to take his seat and me to receive my grade.
To be entirely honest, I already knew I was going to pass.
That performance had been far too easy for it to receive a failing grade. It might not have been an awe-inspiring dance, but it was a tranquil one.
Crowley was already on his feet, applauding as Trein sat down next to him and let Lucius hop up into his lap.
Crowley paid the older teacher a little heed as he looked at me with, well, glowing eyes, “That was a splendid performance, Hatchling! Truly touching. What one would expect if they were watching a grandfather dance with his grandchild.”
Trein shot him a look that went ignored by the birdlike headmaster even as the other staff members attempted to stifle their laughter, “I think I speak for all of us when I say you passed.”
I nodded, biting back a smile so that I could avoid Trein’s annoyed glance as I thanked the exuberant headmaster and headed off to get changed for my next performance.

Charlie Dancing Headcanon
Since Charlie is royal and I have her as knowing at least the classical dances such as waltz and the Viennese waltz (and minuet when that was still fashionable) AND she is shown in the actual show as knowing tap and some swing, I have decided that she knows the following:
Waltz
Viennese waltz
Tap
Swing
Foxtrot
Tango
Soft shoe
Vaudeville
Broadway jazz
Ballet (a LITTLE and mostly used to accentuate other dancing)
Basically more of a classical western/American dancer than anything else and not very modern/mainstream BUT I see no issue with her being down to learn other styles.
Also, I'm generally taking inspiration from Ginger Rogers

Can you suggest any romance novels with a male Virgin?
Oh for sure, I love a virgin romance hero.
Historicals:
In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Scandalous Reputation by Alexandra Vasti--free on Alexandra's website, super fun and sexy, brother's best friend; the heroine is not a virgin, ver scandalous, and bi; the hero has been in love with her for seven years!!!
Band Sinister by KJ Charles--m/m, one of the heroes is a total rake and the other is a virgin who's very sheltered
Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller--heroine is not a virgin, owns and is trying to rehabilitate this Viennese hotel, hero is an American spy who's incredibly closed off to others and therefore a virgin; he's very starched and becomes QUITE unstarched
Her Lessons in Persuasion by Megan Frampton--lighthearted but sexy fake dating vibe, both leads are virgins
Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall--m/m; the flamboyant, flirty one is not a virgin--the stern one is
Thief of Shadows by Elizabeth Hoyt--one of my all time favorites, virgin schoolmaster/vigilante hero with an older, experienced widow heroine; she blows him while they're hiding in plain sight and they both cry, it's AMAZING
Unclaimed by Courtney Milan--good-hearted man declares publicly that he won't lose his virginity until he's in love, evil guy who hates him hires a sex worker to seduce and ruin him
Paranormal/Fantasy:
A Lesson in Thorns by Sierra Simone--this series (which the book begins) has an mmf pairing, with everyone involved being a virgin; very kinky, queer, and Gothic
The King's Spinster Bride by Ruby Dixon--hero and heroine have an arranged marriage deal, he's younger than her, and they're both virgins. It's REAL GOOD.
Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert--sweet virgin werewolf finds his mate in a werewolf huntress
Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Cole--blood-crazed virgin vampire gets locked in a New Orleans home by his brothers for detox, falls for for former burlesque dancer ghost lady. Another all time favorite.
Pestilence by Laura Thalassa--the four horsemen of the apocalypse come to earth, Pestilence picks up a random, and he's a VIRGIN
Contemporary:
The Bride Test by Helen Hoang--hero is on the autism spectrum and his mom basically tries to set him up in an arranged marriage to a single mom; very lovely and emotional
Also, a LOT of the Ice Planet Barbarian books have virgin heroes!
