''The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power'' by Shoshana Zuboff, 2018 "I define surveillance capitalism as the unilateral claiming of private human experience as free raw material for translation into behavioral data. These data are then computed and packaged as prediction products and sold into behavioral futures markets — business customers with a commercial interest in knowing what we will do now, soon, and later. It was Google that first learned how to capture surplus behavioral data, more than what they needed for services, and used it to compute prediction products that they could sell to their business customers, in this case advertisers. But I argue that surveillance capitalism is no more restricted to that initial context than, for example, mass production was restricted to the fabrication of Model T’s. Right from the start at Google it was understood that users were unlikely to agree to this unilateral claiming of their experience and its translation into behavioral data. It was understood that these methods had to be undetectable. So from the start the logic reflected the social relations of the one-way mirror. They were able to see and to take — and to do this in a way that we could not contest because we had no way to know what was happening. We rushed to the internet expecting empowerment, the democratization of knowledge, and help with real problems, but surveillance capitalism really was just too lucrative to resist. This economic logic has now spread beyond the tech companies to new surveillance–based ecosystems in virtually every economic sector, from insurance to automobiles to health, education, finance, to every product described as “smart” and every service described as “personalized.” By now it’s very difficult to participate effectively in society without interfacing with these same channels that are supply chains for surveillance capitalism’s data flows." from an interview with Shoshana Zuboff in the Harvard Gazette in March of 2019. It's an interesting interview that I suggest you peruse.

Low-Energy Ways to Work With Nature
Tumblr media
Whether you're chronically ill, work three jobs, or slept in an extra hour and decide it's a good day to have a lazy day, we all have days or moments where we're low-energy but still want to connect with the elements, spirits, and forces around us.
Here are some low-energy ways to connect & work with nature, categorized by the 4 elements (+ the ether)! Please enjoy and I hope this helps <3
THE EARTH
Tumblr media
Open a window or sit outside! Yep. It's that simple. Just watch. Smile. Gaze. It's worth it ;)
Watch a documentary or nature-based movie. Even something that's loosely based on defending the earth, or something about plants or ecosystems. There are YouTube pages that make much more interesting documentaries than your typical History channel video, but there's lots of sci-fi & fantasy & adventure movies with similar themes too!
Go for a walk... or a nap, by your favorite tree.
Learn about a new plant - local or foreign - even just once a week, or once every two weeks! Just look up the picture to see the different colors it can come in, or learn about where its name comes from, or explore spiritual uses and properties. You could slowly build a tiny collection in a cute journal or your notes app if you wanted, one fact for one plant each week!
Find photos or art online of nature & mother earth that make you feel good, that resonate with you or make you feel grounded, and use it as your digital wallpapers, profile pictures, etc! Make your signature emoji a flower or tree. Share your favorite witchy artists online! Even just changing the color palette works!
Do some virtual window-shopping for earth-themed decor!
Do your nails - even if its messy! - earthen-based colors.
Sit and breathe in some fresh air. It truly does help.
If you have the time, consider getting an insect or domesticated animal as a pet, one where it wouldn't be harmful to look after them or have them indoors with you. There's plenty that can grow on their own, perhaps they just need certain temperatures, clean water, etc. Research the best one for you, and invite a bug friend or critter inside!
Wear crystal jewelry! There's no better way to connect with the earth than to care for its children, the crystals and rocks and stones that beautify our world! You don't have to do anything but buy the bracelet or snap on the necklace, some you don't even need to take off to sleep / shower (make sure you research crystal / stone / rock safety for whichever you choose, same with different metals if you get metal jewelry)!
THE WATERS
Tumblr media
Drink a glass of water. Literally! Water is life, and we are deeply connected to it - and it is connected to everything! The best way we can connect with it, is to unify ourselves with it.
Work with water types! Whether it be floral waters (water with rose petals in it, for example) or dewdrops or rain (after a stormy night), you can observe the waters for divination, utilize it for offerings, etc!
It's as easy as dipping your fingers or toes in! Find a river, or pour some faucet water into a bowl, and sit with it. Feel it. Share space together.
Take a shower! You don't even need to wash, especially if it's just a random shower in the middle of the day and not part of your showering routine. Different temperature waters can help with different things (hot water for comfort, cold for self-reflection or divination, etc, can depend on the person), and you can even start baths if you're more of a bath person. Personally, I like to set a stool outside my bathtub, turn on the hot water, and work on a little project while I let the water hit my back or legs.
Things like cleaning up the ocean or beach can take a lot of time and energy, but an equally helpful alternative is returning things to the ocean! Seashells, sand dollars, things you took but weren't gifts - or otherwise found or received - the waters might really enjoy having back. If you can make it to the waters, consider offering these things back. If you can't, even using them with freshwater is sometimes okay - like a seashell to hold your clean sponges, or a sand dollar as decor in your fish tank.
Listen to water sounds - whether it be the songs of whales, a peaceful storm, or even just the ocean waves, it really can be peaceful and - if you close your eyes - transport you right to the dry rock on a summer day next to the glimmering streams! I recommend this video here, if it's for sleep! This video is also a recommendation of mine!
Shadow work near water! You can reflect, or just journal, take notes, write down prayers... Really, any form of writing or art (like water-color painting) near water can really help you connect with the element!
Protection with water -- protection practices are super important, but they don't always involve burning incense or throwing salt! It could involve sitting out a cup of water near a lemon you've put by your window.
Movement - whether it's just your hands or your whole body, finding a way to move like water - gentle flows, instinctual steps, whatever works to enhance your inner tranquility, focus or general energy work & intentions - can really help! Take inspiration from seaweed - firm on the ground, but still flows with the motions of the waves, like it's gliding through liquid.
If you're in an environment that's dry enough for this, and you aren't risking things like molding in your home, having a spray bottle nearby - whether it be of water, or even an ocean-like Febreeze - to just spray into the air is really useful. You can even have fun with it, spraying it above you or walking into it!
THE FIRES
Tumblr media
Cook an easy-to-make meal!
Sit by the fire. Careful not to inhale too much smoke, or burn yourself! Even just a candle, incense or even just a lighter is useful. (MAKE SURE TO PRACTICE FIRE SAFETY!) Listen to crackles. Talk to it. Dance with it, or sing to it. Practice fire-gazing techniques (like trataka). Additionally, even oil burners (like some aromatherapy tools) can be helpful! I recommend a citrus scent, it's physically healing and citrus is often associated with summer/heat! Burning herbs may also work, depending on the herb or purpose or intentions etc.
Fire-based affirmations can really help you connect with the element! Something to get you "fired up" or get in touch with the warmth that burns inside you. Even connecting it to your body parts - like being warm-blooded - or culture/religion can be useful!
Connect with the sun. Watch the sunset/sunrise, draw a photo of the sun with its gorgeous warm colors (or a painting with a similar palette), pray to or with the sun, schedule your day with the sun's rising and falling hours, collect some sun water, etc!
Wear warm colors, or decorate your home with them. Sometimes these colors - like deep reds and cream colors paired together - created a sense of comfort, refuge, or homeliness in your space. They help you feel warm, and foster a sense of snuggling! Additionally, wearing brighter colors can really uplift your mood, boost energy levels, or just overall make you smile - especially if you like those colors! It often feels like a raw expression of yourself, so I recommend giving it a try!
This is going to sound crazy - intimacy! It can really boost your connection to fire, especially if your intentions are set to do so! This can also boost manifestation work, just be knowledgeable about this kind of magic before doing so!
Holding a warm object - stone, mug of coffee or tea, etc - can help, or even just bundling up in blankets! This is a bit harder as it's not a direct connection but it'll help you focus on connecting with the element.
BURN THINGS! Don't do anything dangerous or illegal, but burning paper or an old wedding dress might work if done appropriately ;)
Explore fire-based fae, creatures, etc. Whether it be critters that live on volcanoes, or the great phoenixes of many stories and lore, exploring their symbolism, representations, and how they feel or connect to you and your story are all great associations to get in touch with the element!
Fire-based visualization: Using light, campfires, flames, phoenixes, or similar imagery in your visualizations can really help with respectfully tapping into the energy or calling it to you, and you don't need any resources or materials to do it! If you struggle with visualization, verbalizing statements of this theme, or thinking other thoughts, work too!
THE WIND/AIR
Tumblr media
Fly a kite or blow something (environmentally-friendly and generally safe) into the air! You can also hang something, so that you don't need to physically do anything but watch!
Whistling! Singing, humming! Breathing & self-regulation techniques! The air is often associated with communication, so scream! Write! Journal! Exist! Experience! Survive! Live!
Open a window and don't mind if it blows some papers!
Connect with smoke - like from incense or sage! Uplifting scents really help with this - something light, soft or dainty!
Let the wind blow in your hair - and don't mind the mess, it's beautiful and funky and fun!
Watching the sky or listening to the wind. It is patient, and the world bustles by - but not just people on the street or water pushing by rocks, it's also daisies and leaves letting loose into the air, and the cold caress of the wind on your jawbone as the night gets cold or the day gets warm.
Mindful listening - it really does help! Even if its silence, even if its loud! It helps you feel the air, and space, around you, and really get in touch with yourself, your community, and the element around you at the same time!
Bird-watching, cloud-watching, leaf-watching, storm-watching! Whether it be finding creative shapes, admiring beauty, or practicing divination, simply observing is worth the try!
Breathe intentions or prayers. Whether it's the classic "inhale beauty, exhale bullshit" or simply putting the energy, prayer or intentions of a desire of yours into your breath as you exhale, it's worth it for some people. Some people believe that their god, or their creator, is breath itself - representing life - and so each breath you take is in their creator's name and carries power.
Lunar work! Connecting with the moon - an energy in & of itself - is made possible thanks to the atmosphere, thanks to air. Be grateful for all the ways air sneaks into our lives and connects us with one another, and work with other elements in a way that keeps you tied to it.
THE (A)ETHER (SPIRIT, OR SPIRITUAL WORLD)
Tumblr media
Explore open spaces. Whether it be crowded or empty, finding a way to resonate with both stillness and movement at the same time can be really powerful. I recommend going somewhere alive in one capacity or another - like bustling people, or just strong winds in the grass blades - and just existing with it. Eventually, you can also try meditation, pondering or self-reflection (even as deep as shadow work), or speaking to the nature spirits around you if they're friendly!
Energy work, in all honesty, can be very tiring - duh, it takes energy. However, even something as simple as calling an energy force to hang out with you, giving a gift or offering, or collecting the paraphernalia of your favorite or most beloved force (such as the ether but others like love, void or divinity too), can really help you connect with the ether in general!
Connect with sound energy - like meditative videos, sound healing techniques, or even just music!
Learn about spirit communication - you don't even need to start, and offerings or tools are not required! Alternatively, learn about different spirits - you could do types like fae and angels, or practices like psychopomp work! This is usually easily accessible somewhere online. You could do some good research, or just talk to others on social media about their beliefs and perspectives and knowledge!
Practice being aware of the energy & world around you, as well as yourself!
Intuition! Enhance your intuition. This can be done with things like tarot, but to preserve energy, even online "intuition tests" or evaluations help - like ones where you see a black and white photo, guess the color of the item it pictures, and then see if you're correct or not!
If you're experienced enough, mantra work might be for you! You can learn about it here.
Create an altar - whether it be for a deity/spirit, or just a space for your workings! It really helps centralize energy and get you feeling the vibes!
Floating and flying visualization - basically as it sounds! Practice visualizations of floating or flying. Be careful if doing this before sleeping - for some people it helps them drift off peacefully into a good rest, but for others it sparks that feeling of being lifted up and then falling down into your bed (among other similar feelings that may be scary for you). I also don't recommend it if you're sensitive to themes of death or grief. However, even doing it during the day can both be powerful and calming.
Get an aura reading! See what color your spirit form is, and what that color may be associated with! You don't have to learn this practice or develop this ability in order to do it, you could easily find someone else - online, even - who can perform this service for you!
Thank you!
Tumblr media
I hope this was helpful and that you enjoyed!
Don't hesitate to comment any questions.
Have a good day / night!

I emerge from the dark to show half baked slop. I drew a bunch of thumbnails for a long term future project which shows off one of my many alien worlds. This is Boöum, a temperate ice giant similar to Neptune but more habitable, with a native intelligent species called the Boueue. Above I wanted to explore how their industrialisation as a species would affect the climates and ecosystems of their world, conveying this impact through visuals alone
I explored visuals both of more sleek and stereotypically "futuristic" cities made of metal and such, as well as villages and other structures made from organic materials. You'll get to learn more about these aliens with time, but essentially evolving on an ice giant meant that they had virtually no access to large mineral and metal deposits meaning that the majority of their tech and architecture is made from genetically modified and selectively bred plants and animals. Only once they reached to space were they able to harvest minerals and metals to utilise back home

Fat Bear Week 2023
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy Fat Bear Week! A favorite event among the Special Collections team, Fat Bear Week celebrates the resilience and survival of Katmai National Park’s brown bear population. Running October 4 – 10, folks are invited to virtually visit Katmai and vote for their favorite fat bear. The park provides bear biographies, stats, and comparison photos between June/July and September so that viewers can make informed decisions before voting and learn more about the ecosystem of Katmai. The bear with the most votes at the end of the week will be crowned Fat Bear Champion!
In celebration of Fat Bear Week, we are showcasing Eddie’s Bear written by Miska Miles (1889-1986) with illustrations by John Schoenherr (1935-2010), and published in Boston by Little, Brown in 1970. Eddie’s Bear is a cautionary tale about the strength and aptitude of hungry bears waking up from hibernation. A young Eddie happens upon a bear in Spring hoping they will become friends, but as the story unfolds readers are reminded that “a bear thinks he owns the world” and are unpredictable in their interactions with humans. The drama is complimented by Schoenherr’s lively illustrations depicting truly fat bears acclimating to waking life.

World Rainforest Day
Donate or volunteer your time to helping or raising awareness about how we can save the rainforests, and keep these crucial ecosystems alive.
The rainforests are keeping our planet alive. They’re home to half the world’s animal species, they provide us with freshwater, and are essential for keeping our climate stable. Yet every second, one and a half hectares is lost, while each year, 78 million hectares of precious rainforest are destroyed. That’s why World Rainforest Day has been created to take decisive action to combat deforestation, reduce the effects of climate change, and protect our rainforests for future generations.
Learn about World Rainforest Day
World Rainforest Day was first created in 2017 by the Rainforest Partnership. They work with Indigenous Peoples living in rainforest environments and launch projects to help restore and regenerate healthy rainforests with local communities. The day is about raising awareness of the importance of the rainforest and what it does for us. By coming together on the day, we can all take positive and hopeful action to protect the rainforest and preserve its lifespan as it has maintained our own lives for thousands of years.
There are hundreds of events, from within local communities to virtual events, education initiatives in schools, charity projects, and the hundreds of small actions we can take each day ourselves to protect the rainforest. Whether you’re going solo in your rainforest approach or part of a group of friends, family members, or colleagues, you’ll be forming part of a community spanning the entire globe. The website has award-winning videos, educational material, and advice for people looking to protect the environment.
The Rainforest Partnership itself has many community-based projects in the Amazon, but the day itself is backed up by the involvement of over 70 global partners, from environmental advocates to media outlets, all striving for positive and affirmative action that preserves the rainforest. The tagline for the event is “Because the World Can’t Wait”, a powerful statement and call to action for people worldwide.
History of World Rainforest Day
The key focus of the day is about remaining positive and focusing on what we can do to save the rainforest. Our rainforests have sustained us for thousands of years, circulating oxygen, keeping local communities alive, absorbing carbon dioxide, and keeping our water fresh and clean. The Rainforest Partnership has been spreading this optimistic message since 2007 when it launched to help protect biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples, and combat the effects of climate change.
The core focus of the Rainforest Partnership is to save the rainforest by working on rainforest-based community projects that create a positive impact on the local peoples and wildlife that rely on the rainforest each day. Although their headquarters are based in Texas, they are primarily in the rainforest with their Latin American based team. Why has the Rainforest Partnership been so successful? Because it’s partnered with organizations worldwide to create a unified response to deforestation. As an affiliated member of the UN Economic and Social Council, they can consult and advise organizations and businesses across the world on sustainable and ecologically led practices.
But just how long has the rainforest been helping us out for? The Amazon rainforest has existed for around 60 million years, forming when the Atlantic Ocean had expanded enough to create a tropical climate in the Amazon basin. Following the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, it is believed that a moister climate developed, leading to the expansion of the rainforest. Over millions of years, it is theorized that the rainforest might have suffered many reductions and expansions, caused by factors like expanding and contracting glaciers.
So why is the disappearance of the rainforest so dangerous this time around? The leading causes of deforestation include logging, mining, and industrial development, as well as the clearance of land for agriculture. As more extensive areas are cleared for logging and pasture, more infrastructure is needed, leading to increased clearance to accommodate roads and large machinery. As more and more rainforest is removed, the surrounding wildlife habitats and homes of Indigenous Peoples are also more significantly disrupted. The scale of deforestation can cause climate change, flooding, desertification, and soil erosion—all things which threaten our planet and our way of life.
World Rainforest Day Timeline
56-33 million years ago
It is estimated that the rainforest likely forms during the Eocene era, following a reduction of tropical temperatures when the Amazon basin is formed.
40000 BC Humans begin modifying rainforests
Humans are influencing the rainforests by living in them and modifying them throughout history.
1986 World Rainforest Movement begins
This international initiative was started to strengthen the movement of people all over the world in defense and protection of the rainforests.
1994 Rainforest Cafe opens
This jungle-themed restaurant opens its first location in Bloomington, Minnesota in the Mall of America.
2017 First World Rainforest Day
Launched to create awareness about the plight of the rainforest and people who inhabit it, World Rainforest Day was created by the Rainforest Partnership.
How to Celebrate World Rainforest Day
This is the perfect opportunity to take the burden off the branches of the rainforest and find ways to help protect the homes of its local wildlife and peoples. Find an optimistic outlook on preserving the planet by sharing on your social media and blogging about how you can save the rainforest. You might get involved by donating or raising awareness of charities like the Rainforest Partnership, or participating in virtual events and networks.
You can even host a rainforest awareness day yourself by arranging an event that highlights the cause or contributes towards a rainforest protection charity. If you’re not a fan of organizing events, why not participate in a sponsored run, climb, trek, or even walk to raise funds? You can also search for registered tree planting charities, where you can sponsor the planting of a tree to give back to the rainforest. If you’re trying to engage the kids, why not take advantage of the activity packs on the day’s website and distribute these to your friends and families for a day of fun-fuelled activities.
If you’re looking for the opportunity to make a lifestyle change, this day is also the chance to make eco-friendly choices to help save the future of our rainforest. For instance, deforestation due to agriculture is a big part of the rainforest reduction. Why not work to reduce your food waste by making sure you’re only purchasing and using what you need? Buying goods from ethical companies that donate to the environment is also a sure-fire way to ensure its protection.
Helping your local wildlife is also an excellent way to sustain global biodiversity, and even help some migrating birds on their way home. Plant insect-attracting flowers in your garden or balcony to share some love with our feathered friends as they fly back to their tropical climate. This day is the perfect opportunity to take many small steps or host one big event to show our appreciation for our rainforest.

Because of trumps recent villainous antics, I have decided to make an archive post for animals that risk extinction and are considered vulnerable. I will include websites to donate, ways to help, constant updates to the list, and fun facts about each animal because i cant donate! 💖 :D
------------------------------------------------ Vaquita
The vaquita (Phocoena sinus), a critically endangered marine porpoise with a population of only 6 and 8 as of 2024, also happens to be one of the smallest cetacean species. Vaquitas are endangered due to illegal and unsustainable fishing practices, particularly for the totoaba fish. Vaquitas are caught and drowned in gillnets set for totoaba, which share their habitat in the upper Gulf of California.  Male vaquitas typically measure 140 cm in length, while females are slightly larger, reaching 150 cm. Interestingly, despite females being larger overall, males have a proportionally taller dorsal fin! Vaquitas can also weigh between 60 to 120 pounds as fully-grown adults! The vaquita is well adapted to its very specific habitat, able to tolerate temperature fluctuations from 14 to 26 degrees Celsius. It is thought that its dorsal fin is used to help regulate its body temperature in warmer waters. Vaquitas are only found in the shallow waters which are less than 50 meters deep and where the Colorado river empties into the northern Gulf of California, Mexico. This area happens to be abundant in both fish and shrimp, which is very convenient as Vaquitas are recognized for the important role they play in maintaining the balance of the marine ecosystem in the Gulf of California. They’re an essential part of the food chain, as both a predator and prey. Vaquitas are predominately carnivores, with their diet consisting mainly of various fish and squid species, as well as crustaceans. They’re preyed upon by top predators including sharks and killer whales. They are sometimes referred to as ‘sea pandas’ due to their distinctive facial markings that include darker rings around their eyes and curved black lips that resemble a smile and their skin is usually a dark grey to black color on their back, which fades into a paler grey on their underside. Newborn vaquitas also tend to have a darker coloring that fades over time!
Where to donate ; - Vaquita CPR directly routes donations to ELI, which fights environmental and wildlife crime through intelligence, investigation, and media production. - Porpoise.org's website includes a petition, ways to buy sustainable sea food, ways to support the local community of baja outside of fishing, addresses for sending your letters to officials in california, a symbolic ''adoption'' of a vaquita, how to send a letter to the Mexican president showing your support for his efforts, and of course constant updates! - Viva Vaquita's website links a way to donate to the VRF (Vaquita Recovery Fund), w way to write to the Mexican commission of natural protected areas to thank them, ways to boycott, where and how to support non profit organizations, how to write to the officials in Canada and the U.S, and where to do volunteer work.
Ways to help! - Follow organizations like Sea Shepherd, which actively works to protect vaquitas in the Zero Tolerance Area of the upper Sea of Cortez. You can volunteer for their onshore or at-sea programs to support their conservation efforts - Watch documentaries like "Sea of Shadows" to learn more about conservation efforts - Write to government officials urging them to enforce gillnet bans and protect the vaquita's habitat - Share information about the vaquita's plight on social media - International Save the Vaquita Day: This annual event, scheduled for September 7, 2024, offers both in-person and virtual volunteering opportunities. Volunteers can help raise awareness, assist with crafts, and interact with the public to educate them about vaquita conservation - Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA): Many AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums participate in vaquita conservation efforts. You can check with your local AZA institution for volunteer opportunities related to vaquita awareness campaigns - Don't eat seafood caught by gillnets. ==========================================
Giant ant eaters
Anteaters are the four extant mammal species in the suborder Vermilingua! There are roughly 5,000 giant anteaters (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) left in the wild. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the giant anteater as vulnerable. Things like fires, hunting, and road accidents have destroyed much of the giant anteater's habitat. And Giant anteaters are sometimes taken from the wild to be kept as pets as well as hunter for their meat as a form of trophying. They are sadly already considered extinct in parts of Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Uruguay. Being the largest of the four anteater species, giant anteaters reach 6-8 feet (1.8-2.4 meters) in length, including both nose and tail. They weigh between 60 and 100 pounds (27 and 45 kilograms). However, it is nearly impossible to differentiate the adult male from the female using external anatomy alone. Giant anteaters can also run up to 50 kph or about 31 mph! They have poor eyesight much like moles, But a powerful sense of smell! Giant ant eaters are insectivores that primarily eat ants and termites. However, they may also be found to eat fruit, worms, beetle larvae, grubs, and occasionally honey bees. Anteaters have one of the longest tongues in the animal kingdom with sun bears coming in close, Even larger than their own jaw, so reaching a length of 2 feet in total! Despite having no teeth, their tongues also have thousands of tiny hooks that help them scoop up their food. Ant eaters cant produce their own stomach acid either, So they rely on their diet consisting of ants to give them formic acids! Sometimes ant eaters will eat a little bit of soil and sand to help things go down easier! Giant anteaters are preyed upon by jaguars and pumas. They are shy and usually try to avoid humans, but they can inflict serious wounds with their front claws! Speaking of claws, did you know that the reason Giant anteaters walk on their knuckles is because their large claws make it difficult to walk normally? Interesting! Anteaters sleep up to 15 hours a day, That time is spent largely digesting their food due to the rate of their slower than normal metabolism! Anteaters are important to the balance of their ecosystems because they control the insect population (Keeping termites at bay which in turn helps farmers keep crops safe and reduce pests), Aerate the soil (Which promotes nutrient cycling), Disperse seeds (Anteaters eat fruits, and the seeds they ingest pass through their digestive system and are dispersed in different areas, This contributes to forest regeneration and plant species diversity), Create water holes (They dig for waterholes when there isn't any available, Creating critical watering holes for other species), And provide food to predators,
Where to donate ; - Nashville Zoo's Giant Anteater Conservation Program Participates in breeding programs to support the vulnerable species, is recognized as a leader in giant ant eater conservation, and conducts research on anteater biology and reproduction. - Rewilding Foundation's Giant Anteater Reintroduction Program Offers ways to volunteer, A place to donate to fund them, Rescues & Rewilds giant ant eaters, and has successfully reintroduced over 90 anteaters and established self-sustaining populations. - ICAS (Wild Animal Conservation Institute) in Brazil Conducts research on threats like roadkill and habitat loss, Implements education programs to improve public perception of giant anteaters in schools, Hosts events for volunteer work, Includes a live cam, Includes a gallery of their work, has constant news, and allows donations from the U.S.
Ways to help! - Participate in research projects, like those conducted by Cornell University's Giant Anteater Conservation Initiative -Use AmazonSmile through ZCOG's link, where a portion of your purchase will be donated to giant anteater conservation - Sponsor a GPS collar: A $3,000 donation covers the purchase and delivery of one GPS collar for tracking anteaters - Spread awareness on social media - Do volunteer work as listed on donation websites - Support the building of wildlife corridors for animal passing.

Class Feature Friday: Hacker Specialization (Operative Specialization)
Tumblr media
(art by gtasoul on DeviantArt)
If there’s anything unique to science fiction, it’s hacking. After all, traditional fantasy rarely has computers (and when they do, they’re usually the ancient, barely understood kind), leading to an entirely different avenue of heroic action as the characters crack open cybersecurity measures, often stylized with virtual avatars and the like.
Now, with their tech savvy, you probably expect the average hacker to be a mechanic or technomancer, and that’s fair, they certainly have the specialization. However, brilliant engineers and techno-mages are hardly the only archetypical hacker characters. Sometimes someone is only focused on computers and not engineering. Others might be agents with a variety of skills that just happens to include cybersecurity as a specialization.
After all, it’s one thing to remotely hack someone from across the cybercafe using the unsecured wifi, and an entirely different beast to sneak into a secure facility and crack open a server with no wireless connection.
And so we have the hacker specialization for operatives. Bank details, classified documents, incriminating messenger logs, the targeting software for the rocket turrets shelling the party… If its on a computer, it isn’t safe from them. What’s more, as operatives, they have the skills to get in close enough to do their hacking without being detected (hopefully). So let’s see what makes them special!
Naturally, these operatives are very familiar with computers and engineering, and they can use their computer skills as part of their trick attacks, sending distracting alerts to enemy headsets, causing malfunctions in nearby devices, or even simply projecting a distracting hologram from their own device. Obviously, however, they have to actually have a computer device on hand to do so. One of the rare occasions where an operative may be forced to use a different skill with their trick attacks.
As expert hackers, these operatives learn how to be especially cautious in their approach, reducing the chance of triggering countermeasures if they accidentally push to hard.
More skilled hackers can take control of devices they have hacked, potentially using their functions for their own benefit a few times before they return to normal or are deactivated.
While not as adept at hacking as other classes, hacker operatives can do a lot of fun things with it, particularly once they gain control of a system with their mid-level ability. Imagine activating the security systems to target the guards, or starting up machinery that proves distracting or hazardous, and so on. I recommend pairing your hacking skills with stealth or another sneaky skillset to make the most of it.
There are a lot of ways to play a hacker. They might be terminally online, or they might tap into vibes of the 80’s idea of a hacker as a cool trendy figure with fancy computer knowhow. Or they may be more professional about it. Certainly hacking has a long association with disrespecting authority, with all the character traits associated with that.
The hacker known only by the username LuckySTR!KE is a notorious thorn in the side of may corporations, earning them a bounty for their capture or death. However, the crafty worlanisi tends to stay a step ahead. However, the contents of their latest datamining has them nervous, and they’re willing to pay for bodyguards.
A passionate hacktivist and self-proclaimed protector of the ecosystems of the galaxy. Beshara has developed a knack for sneaking into corporate facilities and sabotaging their efforts to study and exploit wildlife. However, when one such outing ends up with several researchers being scarred and killed by the acidic saliva of flying kriegakos, she begins to wonder if she has become too extreme.
An expedition to alien ruins may not seem like it needs a computer expert, but when it is discovered the stone buildings are interlaced with intricate technomagical circuitry, one is called in. Unfortunately, the team doesn’t realize this hacker is a corporate spy feeding information back to a rival conglomerate and seeking to steal the most precious treasures in the name of their employer. Unfortunately, her acts of espionage and greed end up awakening the mummified guardians of the ruin.

For years, Derek Gow worked his 400-acres in western England as a conventional sheep and cattle farm. But as both a farmer and conservationist, he knew that wasn’t right for nature. Now, he’s using his experience with British rewilding projects to return his land to what it once was: a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem.
He took down the fences and sold off the livestock, replacing domesticated animals with ancestral species, chosen for the way they create habitat for wild creatures, large and small.
Derek also reintroduced beavers to his land. Beavers had virtually disappeared from England, but Derek was on the forefront of reestablishing the species. Known for their ability as eco-engineers, they return the landscape to a natural, healthy state and restore water to the ecosystem. He’s also breeding a smaller cousin of the beaver that is another important eco-architect: water voles. They had also almost vanished, having lost the water features needed for their survival. His large-scale breeding program will export water voles throughout Britain to restore habitat and provide prey for raptors and other predators.
Piece by piece, Derek Gow is reassembling the puzzle that was the wild landscape of Great Britain, and restoring hope along the way.

ok the second last chapter was the best one because in fairness it actually did address encoded biases in both generative and predictive AI datasets and violent outcomes for oppressed groups in policing, healthcare, resource distribution, etc. and it did make mention of the horrific exploitation of workers in the neocolonial world in cleaning datasets, moderating virtual spaces, tagging, transcribing, and other digital sweatshop work.
but the problem is that the solutions offered are more women in STEM and better regulations... with the end goal always always always of accepting and facilitating the existence and forward motion of these technologies, just with more equitable working conditions and outcomes. early in the book, there's a great aside about how generative AI being used for new forms of image based sexual abuse causes incredible harm to those who experience misogyny and also is gobbling up energy and water at exponential rates to do so. but that environmental angle gets a few sentences and is never spoken of again in favour of boosting a kinder, more inclusive inevitable AI inundated future.
but like — the assumption that these technologies are both inevitable and reformable makes all the solutions offered untethered and idealistic!
profit is mentioned throughout the book, but the system of profit generation isn't mentioned by name once. so the problems of some machine learning systems get attributed to patriarchy and profit as if those two things are separate and ahistorical, instead of products of class society with its most recent expression in capitalism.
but yeah I mean it's not presenting itself as a Marxist analysis of AI and gendered violence so I know I'm asking it to do things it was never setting out to do. but still, it's wild how when you start to criticise technology as having class character it becomes glaring how few critiques of AI, both generative and predictive, are brave enough to actual state the obvious conclusions: not all technology can be harnessed to help the collective working class. some technology is at its root created to be harmful to the collective wellbeing of the working class and the natural ecosystems we are in and of.
technology isn't inherently agnostic. it isn't neutral and then progressive if harnessed correctly, and that idealist vision is only going to throw the people and entities capitalism most exploits into the furnace of the steam engine powering the technocapitalist death drive.
you can't build a future without misogyny using tools designed to capitalise on increasingly granular data gathered from ever-increasing tools of surveillance, to black-box algorithmic substitutions for human interaction and knowledge, to predate on marginalised communities to privatise and destroy their natural resources and public services, and to function on exploited labour of unending exposure to the most traumatising and community-destroying content. and we have to be ruthless in our analysis to determine which AI technologies are designed and reliant on those structures — because not all are!
you have to be brave enough to go through all that analysis and say the thing: if we want a future of technological progress that is actually free from misogyny, we can't build it with those tools that are built by and for the capitalist class and are inextricable from their interests and the oppression of other groups of people that capitalism needs to perpetuate.
some technology is not fit for purpose if our purpose is collective liberation.

Twisted Wonderland Kaiju!AU Worldbuilding
I've been thinking for a while, and I realized that I needed to consolidate/create an essential "worldbuilding sheet" that lists ideas for the AU that I didn't think I'd be able to properly fit into the story. I didn't think I'd be able to get MIRA to explain either since there are aspects of this AU that the researchers and Yuu wouldn't be able to find out about that easily.
Plus, this is also a good way for me to introduce some of the ideas I've discussed with some friends on a Discord server!
To make it easier to note which points are just my comments/thoughts, I've put them in bold and itallics. Other stuff that's meant to be read like a description/summary will be in normal text. I'll likely be updating this post as more ideas come to mind so I can keep track of everything, but I will be announcing whenever there's an update!
///------///
Author Note: Put into perspective, the Kaiju living in the same world as humans is akin to the movie “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” or “Journey to the Center of the Earth”. In this AU, there is a whole second world deep beneath the ocean to the point that the cavern has created its own unique weather system and developed an ecosystem that seems almost prehistoric. This is supposed to tie into the game and how Yuu is in a whole new world of magical beings, except they’re giant Kaiju!
The initial discovery of the world beneath the sea was by pure chance when it became clear that ships and airplanes had begun vanishing. By pinpointing the last known locations of the ships, they were able to discover a massive cave opening big enough to fit a large ship. Inside is a cave system of tunnels and water slides that travel deep into the earth before spitting out the lucky few who managed to survive the trip to the new ocean. Depending on the location of the opening they emerge from, the vessel may either arrive in a safe location or near the territory of massive aquatic predators. Not far from these openings, however, is the very island the story takes place.
Despite how destructive Kaiju can be, there are some who have cleared up the debris from these ships and planes. In fact, those particular Kaiju are the reason that the beach Yuu awoke near the "ship graveyard" as the beach will be nicknamed.
There are two entrances into this mysterious underground ecosystem: the cave system, and a massive whirlpool. Given its dangerous nature, ships often steer clear of it when it does form and was merely noted by the researchers as being there in favor of studying the island. The ones who discovered this secret entrance was a ship carrying poachers seeking to take advantage of the newly discovered creatures and resources on the island, only to find themselves caught in the whirlpool before arriving on the other side. Not ideal, but highly effective for sneaking past the security around the cave.
If the researchers learned of the existence of the whirlpool entrance, it would be theorized that the whirlpool formed long ago to draw water into the cavernous void beneath the crust. This would explain why it became a virtual time capsule of an ecosystem of mega fauna. Another theory is that the whirlpools form from the unstable energy created by the island itself. (A/N: It’s actually created by blot crystals lying at the bottom of the sea growing from the bones of a deceased Phantom Kaiju that had tried to escape the island to wreak havoc on the surface world but never made it out of the opening it had created. It’s quite possible that—even though the Phantom Kaiju isn’t moving—it is very much still “alive”.)
The magnetic disruption caused by the blot crystals over the whirlpool and near the cave are what essentially pulled in various aerial and sea-based vessels, which is why Yuu/Reader/MC finds the planes on the beach. One plane happened to get impaled on one of the blot crystals before it emerged on the other side, though how exactly it got on the beach is a mystery…
Blot comes in two forms: crystalline, and ooze. The crystal form—though relatively “safe”—generates a miasma fog that deters most creatures from approaching it, though it can still cause one to fall ill when exposed to the mist. Even the smallest fragment emits the miasma, making handling it difficult and dangerous. In ooze form, however, it can be unassuming and easily mistaken for tar pits at first glance. While not as numerous as the crystal form, it is by far the most dangerous. Any creature that falls into or consumes the ooze will become infected, their body slowly creating blot crystals all over their body. Once the crystals have completely overgrown on the body, the blot “controls” its new host to seek out its goal—though what it is or what it wants is unknown.
Kaiju have some form of immunity to the blot itself as it comes from the same source as their natural magic, though this does not mean they’re entirely protected. Depending on the amount of blot buildup, a Kaiju may grow sick or—in extreme cases—will be consumed by the blot and become little more than mindless husks over time. Should the latter situation happen and the infected Kaiju isn’t freed from its Overblot state, the Primal Guardians (aka the staff) have to put it down before it can escape the island and head for the surface world. (A/N: If you’ve seen Genndy Tartakovsky’s “Primal” and the episode “Plague of Madness”, that’s the general vibe of chaos and terror I’d imagine Kaiju Overblots have—minus the whole “body falling apart” deal!)
On the island itself (known as the “Night Raven Continent” due to the massive raven like formation at the top of one the mountains), crystals grow everywhere and form in greater concentrations around pools of energy located in key areas in each territory. The crystals contain strong magical energies that the Kaiju can feast on like rock candy when they require a boost, but the effects of this can be the equivalent of a “sugar crash” in terms of energy exhaustion. The pools of energy are safe for consumption, though transport of samples for research has been unsuccessful by researchers as the potency fades to little more than pure mountain water.
A/N: I wanted to find a way to include the starshards and sunshards in the game mechanics as a way for Kaiju to recharge in this AU, since the shards give you more “energy” to do exams or fight in the crafter’s gauntlet. Having there be pools of purple-blue “stardust” energy or “sunlight” energy seemed like an interesting thing to include, and I like the idea of magic glowy water! c:
A/N: The Great Seven exist in this AU, though their depictions come in the form of ancient statues scattered across the island and the very few painted murals left behind by the humans who dwelled on the island. As Kaiju, they are MUCH bigger than the current generations to the point one could literally call them “world-shapers”. The current Kaiju believe that the “Primordial Seven” were responsible for creating the underground world and all the islands within. This massive cave system goes all around the world and each have their own Kaiju and creatures (aka the Sunset Savanna, Scalding Sands, Briar Valley, etc).
Over time, researchers have begun to notice a pattern of behavior that the Kaiju will display on the continent. Every five years, most of the Kaiju will migrate to other islands far away. Given the distance and how treacherous the waters are, it’s been difficult for exploration teams to travel far enough to see these other islands. However, this migration seems to cycle through different seasons as Kaiju from other islands will visit as well. It’s unknown if this is a stop for them to rest before continuing on their way to their destination. Researchers began to call this the “Great Kaiju Migration”. In some cases, Kaiju visiting the island may exhibit nesting behavior and will have their litter/clutch. They only move on before or after their babies are able to walk and will carry them on their back. Those who have strong magic potential will be left in the care of the Primal Guardians.
Kaiju who have the potential to be strong or have a unique energy will either migrate to the island or are brought over by their parent(s) to grow and learn under the guidance of the Primal Guardians. Trein/Elderclaw is the oldest known caretaker who watched over young Kaiju, though now the mantle has been passed on to Crowley/Nevermore and Crewel/Crewelfang.
A/N: While most of the Kaiju raised on the island would be the mob students from the game, some of the main cast were also raised on the island by the staff due to being abandoned by their parent(s), given up for a better opportunity to grow, or were orphaned after losing their family to an attacking Kaiju/Phantom Kaiju. Silver, Deuce, Epel, and Ruggie are current known examples of Kaiju who were orphaned for some reason or given up by their family so they can grow and develop in an environment that can train them right. There may be others, I just haven't figured out who aside from those currently listed!

A Deep Dive
In the ever-evolving landscape of digital content, Tumblr has carved out a unique niche as a haven for creatives. Among the myriad of blogs that populate this platform, those focused on aesthetic photography and visual arts have emerged as some of the most popular and influential. These blogs are not only visually captivating but also serve as powerful tools for personal expression, community building, and even brand development. This article explores the rise of aesthetic photography and visual arts on Tumblr, offering insights into what makes these blogs so compelling and how they contribute to the broader digital ecosystem.
Tumblr media
Aesthetic Photography: A Visual Language of Its Own
Aesthetic photography on Tumblr is defined by its focus on beauty, mood, and emotion. Unlike traditional photography that often prioritises technical precision, aesthetic photography is more concerned with the overall feel and atmosphere of an image. This genre often features minimalistic compositions, soft colour palettes, and an emphasis on natural light. Common subjects include landscapes, urban scenes, and everyday objects, all captured in a way that evokes a sense of serenity and introspection.
One of the key reasons for the popularity of aesthetic photography on Tumblr is its ability to convey complex emotions without the need for words. In a world saturated with information, these images offer a moment of pause, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the visual experience. The images often tell a story or evoke a memory, making them deeply personal to both the creator and the audience.
The Power of Visual Storytelling
Visual arts blogs on Tumblr often go hand-in-hand with aesthetic photography. These blogs curate and share a wide range of visual content, including digital illustrations, graphic designs, and mixed media art. The content is typically arranged in a cohesive and visually pleasing manner, often following specific colour schemes or themes. This level of curation transforms a simple blog into a work of art in itself, making it a destination for those seeking inspiration and creativity.
One of the most significant aspects of these blogs is their ability to tell stories through visuals. Whether it’s a series of photographs capturing the changing seasons or a collection of illustrations depicting a personal journey, these blogs use images to convey narratives that resonate with their audience. This form of storytelling is particularly powerful on a platform like Tumblr, where users are encouraged to engage with content through likes, reblogs, and comments. The interactive nature of Tumblr allows these visual stories to reach a wider audience, creating a sense of community among those who share similar tastes and interests.
Community and Collaboration
Aesthetic photography and visual arts blogs on Tumblr have fostered a strong sense of community. Creators and followers alike engage in conversations about techniques, inspirations, and the meaning behind the art. This collaborative environment encourages learning and growth, making Tumblr a valuable resource for both aspiring and established artists.
Moreover, these blogs often serve as platforms for collaboration. Artists from different backgrounds and disciplines come together to create joint projects, whether it’s a photography series, a zine, or even a virtual exhibition. These collaborations not only enrich the content but also help artists expand their reach and gain exposure to new audiences.
SEO and Brand Development
For artists and photographers looking to establish a brand, Tumblr offers a unique opportunity to build a following organically. By consistently posting high-quality content and engaging with the community, creators can increase their visibility and attract potential clients or collaborators. SEO plays a crucial role in this process, as optimising posts with relevant tags and descriptions can significantly improve a blog’s discoverability.
Tags such as “aesthetic photography,” “visual art,” “minimalism,” and “digital illustration” are essential for reaching the right audience. Additionally, using descriptive captions and alt text not only improves accessibility but also enhances search engine ranking, making the content more likely to appear in relevant searches.
Conclusion: The Future of Aesthetic Blogs on Tumblr
As digital culture continues to evolve, aesthetic photography and visual arts blogs on Tumblr are likely to remain influential. These blogs offer more than just visual appeal; they provide a space for creativity, community, and personal expression. Whether you’re an artist looking to share your work, a brand seeking to connect with a creative audience, or simply a lover of beautiful visuals, Tumblr’s aesthetic photography and visual arts blogs offer something for everyone.
In a world where visual content reigns supreme, these blogs are not just a trend—they are a testament to the enduring power of art and the human desire to create and connect. As the platform continues to grow and adapt, one thing is certain: the aesthetic movement on Tumblr is here to stay, and it will continue to inspire and influence for years to come.

Note
Does the Diamond Clan realize that they took Melli for granted ? And do the wardens miss him ? Maybe they would feel differences they didn't realize while he was here...
Oh absolutely, especially with my headcanons around what the wardens do, their roles in running Hisui, and the Nobels.
For example one of the biggest challenges for them to deal with is Lord Electrode, and the voltorbs after Melli’s disappearance. I deliberately stray from canon when it comes to how pokemon reproduce, and instead of hatching from eggs (which to be fair is a mechanic missing from PLA) I treat the voltorb more like plants that must be tended to each season. I do plan to share my headcanons and notes on this in more detail, but the “Voltorb Harvest” is a huge deal in Hisui, and as part of Melli’s role as warden it’s his duty to see the harvest through each year. This involves staying up on the mountain virtually all winter alone, to tend to the developing Voltorbs so that they’re healthy when they emerge in the spring. The voltorbs are important because when they explode they produce a pollen that helps all of the other plants in the area thrive, and therefore a large Voltorb harvest is essential to the areas wellbeing. It effects not only the plants directly, but the pokemon who feed on them, and the humans who depend on the pollen to help to grow their crops. The voltorbs are grown in the trees on the mountain, originating from seeds and pollen produced by voltorbs and electrodes in the early spring, and take the entire year to grow, but in the winter they require constant care to survive in the numbers that Hisui needs to thrive. The strongest and most valuable voltorbs originate from Lord Electrode itself, and are grown in the large tree in Moonview Arena. A voltorbs pollen is most potent the first year of it’s birth, which is why its important that a large number of high quality voltorbs are born each year, because despite being able to live an extremely long time, the benefits of it’s pollen weaken each season. While the voltorbs are essential to the health of Hisui’s ecosystem they are also extremely dangerous, and require specialised knowledge that only the warden tasked with looking after them truly understands, so its not a role that can easily be filled. Especially because after Melli disappears, Lord Electrode refuses to be looked after by anyone else. I headcanon that the Lord pokemon choose their Warden, and as such can be very fussy on who they allow to care for them. Lord Electrode is the most stubborn (and arguably dangerous) of all of the Noble pokemon, so taking care of it proves to be extremely challenging in Melli’s absence.
I have headcanons about all of the nobel pokemon and the roles that they play in making Hisui work, and of the work that the Wardens do to help not only their own Nobel, but the entire area that they’re assigned to. With such an important job Melli being missing definitely impacts everyone in Hisui, even if they don’t realise it. The other wardens also have their own roles and duties that are just as important, so trying to pick up his slack, especially when Lord Elctrode won’t allow it, is extremely challenging and stressful
On a personal level though, of course they miss him. Especially the Diamond Clan. Building off of the events of PLA, Adaman definitely grows to understand Melli’s role, the work that he does, and of why he was compelled to interfere with the events of PLA despite telling him not to. That’s his mountain, his nobel, and he makes scarifies, and cares deeply about them. Learning about what goes into it the job definitely opens Adaman’s eyes to the work that his Wardens do. He also misses his friend and feels like a failure, secretly blaming himself for Melli’s disappearance as he knows it was his ambitions of becoming leader that inspired Melli to become a warden in the first place. Adaman doesn’t cope well with the grief, and lashes out at those around him, refusing to even entertain the idea that Melli might be dead, despite making accusations that other people have killed him. It’s a complicated time for Adaman that challenges him both as leader and as a person, forcing him to reflect on his relationships, navigate conflict and negative emotions, and to confront moving forward without somebody that he never really expected to be without. Adaman also takes on Melli’s pokemon, refusing to let anyone else care for them as he feels responsible.
The other Members of the diamond clan miss him too, but especially Sabi who is confused why her powers let her down by not warning her that anything bad was going to occur, nor offering her a vision of his location. Arezu, Mai, Iscan, and the entire Diamond clan are devastated, and all of them cope with it in different ways. The Pearl Clan, while offended by the accusations, are concerned for him, but don’t really know him on a personal level as well, so their concern comes mostly from the natural concern that they have for the safety and well-being of another human being, and also from wanting to clear Ingo’s name. Palina is affected by how upset Iscan is by the situation, and begins to see melli in a different way to how she may have viewed him before. It’s her who pushes for the two clans different wardens to work together to try and solve the mystery, partially for Melli’s sake, partially for Ingo’s sake, but also because she deeply cares for Iscan and can’t stand to see him in pain.
Irida is affected deeply his disappearance, not only having to deal with Adaman and the fallout of the situation, but because she and Melli had grown quite close as friends, having first bonded performing together during the festival in PLA. She is hurt that Adaman who make any accusations that her clan would ever hurt him, and is especially upset by any accusation that she could in anyway be involved with a plot to harm someone that she considers a friend. With tensions so high she feels alienated from various members of the Diamond clan that she had developed close bonds with, pulling away from Mai (who she befriends during PLA) due to the conflict, and even her best friend Palina. Irida worries that Palina’s relationship with Iscan, as well as the progress made between the Pearl and Diamond clan, (and their ally ship with the Galaxy team) may be in jeopardy due to the accusations made against her, Ingo and the Pearl clan, so almost entirely withdraws from her support system in an attempt to cope with the events.
Ingo is of course upset that he is being accused of being involved with Melli’s disappearance (and even possible murder), but as a warden himself he is more concerned for Melli’s wellbeing, and commits to helping discover what happened to him, despite the two having a (somewhat friendly) rivalry in the past. He knows the mountain extremely well, and as such is completely baffled by his disappearance. Despite the hostility from Adaman over the disappearance, his close proximity to the voltorbs and having observed Melli attending to his duties means that he has picked up the most knowledge on how to take care of them outside of Melli himself, and therefore despite being from a different clan (and as far as Adaman is concerned, a suspect) it’s Ingo that is forced to step up to try and perform Melli’s duties. He is given permission begrudgingly from Adaman during mediation organised by the galaxy team to help deal with the voltorb crisis caused by Melli’s absence. Ingo is determined to do the right thing despite Adaman breathing down his neck at any given opportunity, and wishes that the two could just work together instead.
Akari is Ingo’s saving grace, as she was with him at the time of Melli’s disappearance providing an alibi that he was not involved. The Galaxy team don’t want to get involved with Clan disputes for the most part, but have a vested interest in maintaining peace across the region. They seek to preserve the truce between the two clans, and offer mediation to try to maintain that. Akari pushes for the survey team to be allowed to investigate, and not only is she concerned about melli, but she’s worried that whatever happened to him may be a threat to the region as a whole. Melli is an experienced warden, who knew the area and the pokemon within it well, and who seemingly disappeared during broad daylight without a trace
I could realistically keep typing for ages, but long story short, yes. Melli’s disappearance has impacts all over the Hisui region, both personally for those who know and care about him, but also potentially by causing problems that could affect the whole regions ecosystem and political climate

World Tapir Day
Learn about the highly endangered creature known as the tapir, and educate others, volunteer, or donate to help preserve these fascinating mammals.
Let’s dive into the fascinating world of tapirs with World Tapir Day! Celebrated every year on April 27, this day is all about shining a spotlight on these unique creatures. Since its start in 2008, the event has aimed to increase awareness and support for tapir conservation.
Why celebrate tapirs, you ask? Well, many people don’t even know these animals exist. They’re often mistaken for other species, even in places where they naturally live.
Tapirs are crucial for their ecosystems, helping forests grow by spreading seeds. But they’re in danger due to habitat loss and other human activities. World Tapir Day is here to change that by educating people and rallying support for these shy giants.
How can we make a difference? Simple acts like learning more about tapirs, sharing information, and supporting conservation efforts can have a big impact.
You can also donate to organizations working to protect tapir habitats or take part in local events and activities. Together, we can help ensure tapirs thrive for generations to come.
History of World Tapir Day
World Tapir Day is a unique celebration dedicated to raising awareness about tapirs, those curious creatures that have roamed the Earth for millions of years.
This special day was officially launched in 2008 and is celebrated annually on April 27. It wasn’t until 2011, however, that the celebration really took off, thanks to the passionate efforts of tapir enthusiasts and conservationists who recognized the need to highlight these lesser-known animals.
Their goal was to educate the public about the critical role tapirs play in their ecosystems and the threats they face, such as habitat loss and hunting.
The founding of World Tapir Day marked the beginning of a concerted effort to put tapirs on the global conservation agenda.
By drawing attention to their plight, the day aims to inspire actions that help ensure their survival. Zoos, wildlife organizations, and conservation groups around the world participate by hosting events, educational programs, and social media campaigns to spread the word.
Activities range from visiting tapirs at local zoos to engaging in conservation fundraising efforts.
The significance of World Tapir Day has grown over the years, reflecting the increasing urgency of protecting these animals and their habitats. All four recognized species of tapirs are currently listed as vulnerable or endangered.
The day serves as a reminder of the beauty and diversity of wildlife and the importance of conservation efforts to protect our planet’s biodiversity for future generations.
