If I can recommend you do 1 low-effort thing for the love of God it is this:

If you lose your voice, or lose speech, or want to make a dramatic embellishment at the right time, it is an elegant and efficient solution that is right there at hand.

The joke is over. Rule of threes. Now they are curious. They wonder about logistics. "How did you know I would say that? Is everyone so predictable?"

As a three-part bit, nobody ever sees the fifth card coming.

I normally hate characters like Colin Robinson who exist to create awkward comedy, or generally be completely insufferable without any self-awareness as to how incredibly annoying they are. But I love Colin Robinson because he does it ON PURPOSE. I am not watching some doofy dude ramble endlessly about something without any care that he has dried up everyone's goodwill five minutes back. Instead I am watching a predator stalk his prey with annoyance and boredom until they ultimately collapse in a grey haze of exhaustion. Now THIS is a guy I can root for

I am not the first nor am I the last to wonder about how SJM thought the solution to the plight of Illyrian women was to make them train, but I legitimately wonder what they're even training for.

The main threat to them is not an outside one that can be fought off, it's a social issue. If they're training in order to fight back if their partners abuse them domestically... what exactly happens when the case reaches whatever legal body they have, official or not.

Am I seriously expected to believe that, given the state the Illyrian society was left in, that the women would be given the grace of some form of legal or community protections. Or that they wouldn't face some sort of societal backlash if they tried to use their newfound fighting skills in self-defense if their partner tries to abuse them. Or even if they tried to resist having their wings clipped.

What does learning to fight even mean if there's no safety nets for your right to defend yourself?
