Words from Nukoduke, vol. 4, part 3
Words in bold are particularly relevant to the story, and words in italics seem like they’d be worth remembering outside the context of the manga. Bold and italic together means they’ve probably appeared somewhere in Nukoduke more than once. Kinda long list but it’s for a whole volume… actually it’s too long for tumblr, so splitting into four parts.

FFXIVWrite 2024 - Day 3 - Tempest
Night envelop them in its familiar, reassuring embrace. The late summer air is already tinged with hints of approaching autumn. All is calm. In the distance, snatches of laughter from their loves slip through the walls of the house. Sitting there on the swing, Nehru's mind is teeming with thoughts, ideas and memories colliding, inside them it's rumbling.
“My memories, they're here, they've come back at last. The pieces of the giant puzzle that was my life before, not just life but the person I was, that I am… That I am?” A long sigh “I don't know… I should feel complete and light again, But then why do I feel so shattered and lost? I knew it wouldn't all be happiness and rainbows. I sensed a dark past sleeping in the back of my mind, I felt the demons lurking in the shadows there in that thick fog…” new sigh ”and I was ready because i needed them! my memories belong to me, they're part of me but… I feel like I'm back to being the terrified, imprisoned person I used to be, it's as if I've been given back this whole part of myself, but robbed of a part of what I've become without them… where's my confidence, my self-esteem, my serenity?.. I feel my flame flickering, I'm scared… I've never been so scared…”
Nehru straightens up, and uncoils their body from the curled-up posture unconsciously taken on the seat, they straighten their head and raise their eyes to the sky, taking deep breaths to ground and soothe themselves, the thousand and one thoughts making the rumblings a little louder.
“'Rrrru you must stay calm, don't give in to fear, don't let the demons devour you, you're not alone, you're loved and lots of people are counting on you… you've got all the pieces now… -or almost, you'll find what's missing in due course-… Now that you've got it all, your treasures, your pieces of yourself… you'll be able to piece together the puzzle of the person you are. With the pieces from before and those from today. And it's up to you to create the person you want to be, to become who you want to be. The storm will calm down, have faith, then you can reconnect to your essence fully.”
Nehru stands up slowly, takes several deep breaths again and hurries back inside, finding the comforting warmth in the embrace of their loves. Thanks to them, they feel they can brave any storm, any tempest, and emerge brighter than ever.

I have a confession to make: all my knowledge on TB and X/1999 are second-hand knowledge (mostly from you) because if TRC and Holic already traumatised me so thoroughly, I fear trying out the other, even angstier ones. Heck, I still haven't even touched the Clover books I bought last year
Lmaoooo I'd actually say level of angst is more subjective than objective measure. Cuz yea, some tropes and tragedies are just more catastrophical than other but it's actually ours as readers emotional reaction that matters. So whilst TB and X might be 'objectively' angstier than TRC for example I'd say that as a fact amounts to nothing.
For example, Chobits hit me harder than xxxholic did. Chobits is fluff psychological drama whilst xxxholic is.... well, xxxholic. But something about asexual allegories and all the talk what romantic love truly is got to me. Similarly out of all scenes in X (like betrayal scene, Rainbow bridge, all scenes where Kamui is suffering somehow), scene that actually got to me the most is one around vol18 about the character that is nowhere near close to being my fave. Similarly I've heard that some people didn't get emotionally devastated by TB ending while it destroyed me for life ;-; out of all clamp mangas I'd say that's the one that got to me the most, no seconds
So yea, what I'm trying to say is TB or X might not necessarily hit you harder than TRC or xxxholic did

the new vol of bookworm arrived early as it sometimes does. I did something i don’t normally do and read bits and parts out of order as they piqued my interest. just bc i don’t have a lot of leisure time atm and wanted to get the main beats. i will read the whole thing later. just, what I read and glanced at were good, funny, punch in the gut.
rozemyne continues to be rozemyne, ferdinand continues to be ferndinand. justus, bonifatius, damuel, elvira, angelica, fran, philine, cornelius, ferdinand, rozemyne— all themselves, all great. this will be fun to read in its entirety when it returns from bookshelf banishment.

TGCF Vol 3, Chp. 43 - 44 (First "Kiss") Part 2 / 5 (First, Next)
Next part is finally done! Xie Lian's inner monologue kills me.
Novel excerpt under the cut:
[denotes panel #]
[1, 2] Xie Lian blinked, trying desperately to bat away the thousands upon millions of lingering crystalline bubbles. [3] Then he found himself caught by a pair of strong arms. [4, 5] One hand circled his waist, and the other grasped his chin. [6] In the next second, something cold and soft covered his lips.
[7]In that instant, Xie Lian's eyes bulged.
Never in his life had anyone treated him like this.
First, no one dared, second, no one could. However this person was swift like the devil and had appeared so suddenly that he had no chance to defend himself before he'd been plunged into such a state. [8, 9] Flustered, he thrashed and desperately tried to push the person away. [10] Instead, he only succeeded in choking on large mouthfuls of water as string after string of bubbles escaped his mouth like crystal beads.
Of course, this was a big mistake underwater. [11] The hands round his waist only tightened, pressing their bodies closer together, and Xie Lian's struggling hands were firmly folded and crushed against his own chest, trapping them in place. [12] His lips, too, were securely sealed. The kiss deepened, and with it, a breath of cool, gentle air was transferred into his mouth.
[13, 14, 15] Completely helpless and at a loss, just as Xie Lian began to accept his fate, he finally saw the person's face clearly.
[16] It was Hua Cheng.
[17] The moment he realized it was Hua Cheng, he stopped struggling. Innumerable random thoughts popped into his mind, all inappropriate for the time and place, such as : So it was Hua Cheng! No wonder he's cold. [18] Ghosts don't need to breathe, but he can still transfer air to me?! [19] Don't ghosts sink in the water?
[20] Hua Cheng suddenly opened his eye.
[21, 22] Staring into that dark eye from such an intimate distance, Xie Lian froze again, then resumed struggling, his arms flailing like a duck so clumsy it was drowning. [23, 24] Hua Cheng easily corralled those thrashing limbs, and with his arm still firmly locked around Xie Lian's waist, Hua Cheng took him and speedily swam upward.

Saw a post where someone wasn't sure if Tim being good at computers was a fanon thing or not and friend I am happy to inform you that he's been a computer/tech guy from some of his earliest appearances in the comics.
Detective Comics (Vol. 1) #620 (Rite of Passage part 4) - immersed in the ~web~
Robin II: The Joker's Wild #3 - tabletop roleplaying games and spending hours in the basement on the computer - not beating the geek allegations on these fronts, Timmy
Detective Comics (Vol. 1) #676 - Dick was more into traditional detective work and tended to outsource the computer stuff in these days
Batman (Vol. 1) #514 (Prodigal part 10) - hackin' through all the garbage and garble
Robin (1993) #33 - Robin sneaking in and connecting Oracle with the baddies' mainframe so she can do her thing and steal all their data >:)
Nightwing (1996) #6 - "no you're really talented and well suited to be Robin." "no, you." "no, YOU!"
Tim is definitely not as good as Babs/Oracle, but he's certainly her back-up for computer work in the 90's batfam. They're tech buddies and Robin!Tim is her little assistant sometimes, it's super cute:
Birds of Prey (1999) #19 - happy to play with big sister's fancy high-powered toys
Legends of the Dark Knight (1989) #125 - real cute kid
And Dick will hand off computer jobs to his little brother when he doesn't want to bother Babs 😂 (that outsourcing I mentioned):
Nightwing (1996) #68 - examine them pixel by pixel, eh? welp, sounds like a job only you can do, Timbo, you got this buddy, byyyyeeeee
And then when he'd grown up and been doing this for years, he leveled up accordingly, and did stuff like use his access to the League of Assassins computers to overload the generators in every base he could find, etc. etc.
Red Robin (2009) #8 - yeah that was pretty dumb of you Ra's :)
So yeah, it was a bit of a specialty of Tim's, in large part because he was introduced just at the turn into the 90's, when personal computers were really starting to take off and become widespread. (Robins gotta be cutting edge and all)
Of course, by no means does it follow that the other Bats suck at computers (there is no 'smart one' they are all incredibly smart and capable). This is especially true as reboots and the sliding timescale of comics have moved the DC characters into modern times, where computers run the world and everyone grows up with one in their pocket. The baseline familiarity and expertise that everyone can be expected to have is just much, much higher these days.
It gets exaggerated in fanon as all character traits do, but computer guy Tim is definitely not something just made up out of whole cloth :)b
