I need you to know how much I'm literally bouncing off the walls because of your writing!!!!! Every time you post a snippet my brain is recalibrated and I only think about it for the next few hours IT'S SOOO GOOD🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
If it's okay to know, is the cult mentioned in the recent fantasy au snippet an actual cult unlike in the modern au, and are they connected to Wally or warlocks in some way?
I hope you're having a good day/night whenever and wherever you are 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
!!!! Yippee!!!! Thank You!
no no this is an actual cult lol - there's a whole plot in my mind of them going after Home and successfully separating them from Wally. they're a big problem! i guess they're not connected except in the fact that they want to have a demon at their command, and demons in this universe are very rare / hard to find. Home seemed like easy pickings! and it kinda was! the cult's plan would have gone off without a hitch, except for two things
one, this particular demon is unusually attached to its host. two, there is a group of ragtag maniacs hellbent on hunting them down and reversing what they've done <3

Summary: Upper-class high schooler Bill (Billy Warlock) suspects that his parents are part of an elite cult.
Cult (so to speak) horror comedy best known for its penultimate scene for good reason. Build-up is pretty good too.
Rating: 3.5/5

Society is a 1989 American body horror film directed by Brian Yuzna and starring Billy Warlock, Devin DeVasquez, Evan Richards, and Ben Meyerson. Its plot follows a Beverly Hills teenager who begins to suspect that his wealthy parents are part of a gruesome cult for the social elite.
Though the film was completed in 1989, it was not released until 1992. It was Yuzna's directorial debut and was written by Rick Fry, conceived and written by Woody Keith. Screaming Mad George was responsible for the special effects. A sequel, Society 2: Body Modification, was in development as of 2013, with a script written by Stephan Biro. - Wikipedia.

I could see tessa doing the coats of arms thing to make shadowhunters feel welcome but I too miss the extent to which shadowhunters dont like downworlders. It would have been really fun if it was incorporated in tlh especially since it was present in tid. Like imagine the picnic attatck happens and nobody is happy they have to go to the institute, most of the not hurt/lightly hurt people excuse themself. The sick gets transferred to the city of bones lightning Quick because the parents(excluding the lightwoods) dont want their children in the care of a warlock. It could have been really fun.
RIGHTTT it could have been such an interesting plot point, both just as a worldbuilding exercise and also bc it would have been so interesting to see james (and lucie) navigate what it means to be a downworlder & shadowhunter at the same time (which Was mentioned in tftsa once and then never followed up on) it was the perfect opportunity to have them change society around them in a very meaningful way but ALAS we never got that. literally show me james being the disgraced son of his popular father, show me the herondales being reclusive but still kind and open in the way that only will and tessa could be, show me the politics and prejudice of your fictional universe where people literally used to hunt people like tessa for sport just a few decades before!!!

This is not so much a "comics get reviewed" deal as it is a "opinions and insights glued together by rambling." But it was fun to do! Thanks, @rolledspinepodcasts!

When I was watching Society (1989) I started referring to Billy Warlock as Michael J. Faux. Because it totally felt like a Michael J. Fox type performance just, you know, not as good.
