Gamer’s rage; Rocket raccoon x gn! reader
*Author’s note*
Okay so this is a combined request for an anon and @itsscromp but first I must apologize because I no ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about video games, I did some minor research for Call of Duty so if there are any COD fans out there and I’ve f-ed it up about what the first game does, I’m sorry because I’ve never played it and nor any real video games for that matter (my last video game was Bratz Rock Angels).
Not really any warnings just gamer rage, swearing, and gun violence (both video game and in the story. C’mon it’s Rocket guys what’d you expect?)

Rocket and I sat a few feet apart from each other but refused to look at the other while Peter was pacing in front of us and the rest of the Guardians were scattered throughout the ship.
“Okay, can you please tell me why the hell the ship looks like a bomb went off in the southern deck?”
“As him!” I snapped.
“Ask me! You’re the one who had the blasters in your hand!” Rocket yelled at me.
“Well I wasn’t the one who threw the actual bomb!”
“Well how else was I gonna stop you from acting like a psycho!”
“You know what?!”
“What!?”
“ALRIGHT ENOUGH!!” Peter screamed at us to stop.  “I don’t care who started it or who used what, I just want to know why the hell you guys blew up my ship!?”
“I am Groot.” Said Groot.
“Wait what?” Peter asked.
“I am Groot.”
“It wasn’t that big of a deal.” Said Rocket. I laughed sarcastically as Rocket snarled at me baring his teeth.
“I let you take one round and then when I start winning, you go ballistic!”
“Oh bull!”
“Hold on, you mean to tell me the reason you guys nearly destroyed my ship and aren’t speaking to each other is over a stupid video game?!”
“Not just any game Quill, it was a battle for one’s right to destroy the villainous monsters that were the pansies.” Drax said in awe.
“Nazis, Drax. They were called Nazis.” I corrected him.
“Like the ones Steve fought.” Mantis added.
“Well he mostly fought off Hydra officers but I guess they’re the same thing. They were both douchebags of history.” I said.  I guess you’re wondering just what the hell is going on, well let me take you back to how this whole mess began.
*Flashback*
On our base at Nowhere I was going through the itinerary supplies for the Nowhere Trading Company (or NTC as I called it).  I was going through the black market goods we managed to swipe from some pirates just 4 quadrants from reaching Xandar’s atmosphere.
I opened up the crate and looked inside to see that it was filled with some classic video games back on Earth.
“Holy shit.” I reached in and grabbed a Spyro the Dragon (yep the first ever Spyro game).  “God I hadn’t seen this game since I was a kid.” I continued to dig through and found Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure.  “Oh my god, they got almost everything in here.”
The first Mass effect games, the original Super Mario Bros, Mario cart, Sonic the Hedgehog, but I let out a gasp as I quickly dug through the games and pulled out my all time favorite game and felt my arms shaking with excitement.
I ran across Nowhere with the game in my bag, I just had to find him there’s no way he’d ever refuse a game like this.
“Rocket! Rocket! Yo Rocket answer me! Rocket! ROCKET!!”
“Geez I’m right here what’d you blow a gasket or something kid?” Rocket said.  I quickly turned to see him remodeling one of the buildings into our storage units, he lifted his goggles over his head and set the blow torch down.  I bounded on the balls of my feet excitedly.  “You sure you don’t need to use the bathroom kid?”
“You’re not gonna believe what I found.” I sung out.  He sighed and came down from the building and walked up to me.
“Alright I’ll bite. What’d you find?” I reached into my bag and handed him the game still bouncing excitedly.  “Call of Duty?”
“The first Call of Duty game ever made. No other game could beat out the overrated game that is Halo but this game doubled not only in sale ratings but graphics and story as well.”
“It’s another mind-numbing game. I swear you and Groot are cut from the same cloth when it comes to video games.”
“Come on! I’ve got a feeling you’re really gonna like this one.”
“Not interested, now if you don’t mind I gotta get back to work before Quill gets on my back about finishing this storage unit.” He handed me the case back and climbed back up the stairs.  That’s when I said.
“You get to shot at people and blow things up.” He stopped midway up the stairs and turned back to me and said lowly.
“I’m listening.”
“Like Halo, this is a first person shooter game. That’s when you become the character, not just you controlling a character like most video games are. And this takes place during a real life war that happened in my world, the one that Captain Rogers fought in, and you get to shot and kill all the Nazi soldiers you want.”
“What about the blowing things up? You said I could do that right?”
“Oh yeah. Trust me Rocket, this was the first Mature rated game I played at my friend’s house and my god did we blow some shit up.”
“Well screw Quill then! If he wants this storage unit done, he can do it himself. Now uhh—how do we play this thing exactly?”
“There’s gotta be a game station in one of the other boxes where I found this along with a bunch of other games. C’mon.” we raced back to my station and we looked through a couple of more crates until Rocket game across the one that was filled with a bunch of various gaming stations.  “Ah-ha! Here it is, PlayStation. Just what we need!”
“Think I might have the perfect place for that.” I followed Rocket back to our ship and that’s where we had set up the game console in the Southern levels of the ship where we had all the monitors and TV/Radio transmitters.
Rocket hooked up the PlayStation to the monitors and after a few switches and wire sparks (better not to ask about that part), once I turned on the game the PlayStation opening rang off and showed off its logo.
“Oh yeah! Alright Rocket hop and squat and prepare to get your virtual ass kicked.”
“Please, I’ve been firing guns since you were in diapers.” He said as he grabbed his controller and I took mine and went through the menu to choose our battlefield.
“Well shooting people in real life vs. virtual works a little differently. But I’ll take that bet there Rocket.” Once the menu showed our options and the title card of the game, I selected my character while Rocket chose his.  Next I chose our mission and once we were ready, I scrolled down to the BEGIN MISSION option and the screen went black as it began to load.
The first round of our mission obviously I won but it gave Rocket a chance to learn the ropes of the game and how it worked.  So when the next round came in, he got the upper hand and killed me.
“Alright kid, final round is mine for the taking!” Rocket exclaimed.
“Don’t get cocky Rocket just cause you won this round.”
“Please I got this game in the bag.” He selected our final mission and we began our mission.  Guns were fired and each side of our screens went red with blood until I came out on top and won the final round.  “WHAT THE—”
“HA! In your face Rocket! I am the winner! I am the winner!” I said doing my little victory dance.
“No fair you cheated!”
“Yeah right you just can’t admit that when it comes to virtual shooting you suck at it.”
“I’ll show you who sucks at shooting!” he soon pulled out his gun and fired a warning shot right at me.  I flipped over the shot and ducked down.
“What the fuck man!”
“You wanna say I suck again!? Go ahead and say it.” He challenged me.  I took out my own gun and fired it at him as he jumped out of the way.
“Warning shot. Next one wont miss.” I warned him.
“You better hope not.” Next thing I knew, the two of us were shooting at each other trying to kill the other, throwing insults at the other for a terrible shot.
Which leads us back to the present.
*Flashback ends*
At the end of our story, Peter pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head disappointedly.
“So can you tell a certain Terran that they’re an arrogant asshole and shouldn’t mess with a true professional?” Rocket said.
“Only if a certain rodent knows that real life shooting and virtual shooting aren’t the same. And that they’re a sore loser and should just suck it up and put on his bog boy pants and accept that someone else can be as good as he is.”
“Like I’d ever admit that!”
“You know you are such a pest you know that!?” I snapped.
“Takes one to know one don’t you think Flea!?”
“I told you to never call me that again!”
“I’ll call yah whatever I want and right now you’re a flea!” I roared as I pounced on him and the two of us began to rumble with each other.  Growling and screaming at each other until Peter forced us apart.
“ALRIGHT! I’M CALLING A TIME OUT!!”
“No Quill. I was placing all my money on (Y/n) to win.” Drax said.
“Drax what have we said about placing bets on each other to die whenever a fight breaks out?” Peter said.
“You really suck the joy out of everything. Groot do not take my money, the bet is on halt.”
“I am Groot.”
“After these two, I’m having a talk with the both of you.” Quill released us and began his reprimanding.  “You two wanna act like children? Okay then. Go to your room and I don’t wanna see the two of you until you learn to make up and be friends again.”
“As if.” We both said as he still refused to look at each other.
“If not I could always use some target practice dummies.” Nebula suggested.
“We’re not dummies!” we both exclaimed.
“Then it’s your choice. An hour or so in isolation together, or one of you is going to be holding this on top of your heads.” She pulled out a crushed piece of tin and held it out to us.  With no other choice we grumbled as we walked away.  Shoving each other nonchalantly as we grumbled insults at one another.
*3rd Person POV*
“Ugh I swear those two. Being as good friends as they are, when they fight oh god. It’s literally like trying to separate two dogs who want to kill each other. But thanks for that reverse psychology move on them Nebula, I appreciate it.”
“That wasn’t a psychological move.” She said.  Everyone went silent before one by one each decided they needed to be somewhere other than where they were right at that moment.
*My POV*
One bad thing about sharing a room with your (ex) best friend, is having an intense argument and having to be in that same room with your (ex) best friend.  Rocket and I sat back to back of each other with our arms crossed and a permanent scowl on our faces in dead silence.  The air so think with our anger it could be cut with a knife. But after a while of cooling down, I uncrossed my arms and said.
“I’ve heard how the video games have turned people crazy, but I didn’t think it’d ever happen to me.”
“So you finally admit it?”
“What I’m trying to say asshole, is that I don’t want our lifelong friendship to end over something so stupid. We were both in the wrong.”
“Yeah. Guess you’re right kid.” Finally we turned and looked at each other and I said to him.
“Maybe it was better I didn’t find those stupid games.”
“Now don’t go blaming yourself kid. You were hit with uhh—what did you call it again, nausea?”
“Nostalgia.”
“Right yeah that. Hell if I had a life like yours before I was made, I’d be doing the same thing.”
“I’m sorry Rocket, for nearly trying to shoot your brains out.”
“And I’m sorry (Y/n). For calling yah flea and for…..being a sore loser.” We smiled softly at each other before I hugged him.  He tensed up at first but relaxed and I felt his arms wrap around me.

Context: the studio that made Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire Tokyo, & The Evil Within (Tango Gameworks) got shut down by Microsoft.
youtube
What I am saying is from the perspective of an American born and raised in the U.S. I’m unaware of what this is like in most other countries and I will be primarily talking about AA & AAA games: the indie scene is thriving
Sucks that we live in a society that discourages passion, creativity, & art unless it directly contributes to lining the pockets of billionaires: this is especially evident when you look at how corporations treat their employees & IPs, work culture, and the U.S education system. There are absolutely amazing games & IPs that are left in the past because they didn’t give the people on top as much money as they hoped for or there are more profitable options, so instead we get an over saturated market generally made for fans of popular IPs, shooters, and action adventure games because those sell the best. This is why a lot of Nintendo’s, Sony’s, and Microsoft’s older IPs never get used anymore: this is why we keep getting the same games, but with a new gimmick and shinier coat of paint. I love shooters and action adventure games, but we need more games that are unique and/or of less popular genres that stick around. Insomniac for example has made great games that are full of creativity and passion such as Sunset Overdrive & Spyro, but now they’re not much more than a glorified Marvel games studio: their new games are good, but it’s all stuff we’ve seen numerous times. We still do get great, soulful games that aren’t left to the sands of time, but there have been less of them as it moves on.

Folklore Fact - Hjúki and Bil / The Man in the Moon / the Bilwis / Jack and Jill
Something different this month - a general folklore fact, rather than a werewolf or vampire fact! It's been a while since I did one of these, so I figured it's high time I toss another one out there.
Ever heard of the Man in the Moon? Of course you have. But have you ever heard of a "bilwis?" What about "Hjúki and Bil?" How about Jack and Jill? And how are all these things actually connected?
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, I was playing a video game called Titan Quest with my brother. We ran into a strange creature labeled a Demon that was called a "bilwis." Since the game is based heavily in real-world myth, I decided to look it up. It wouldn't be the first time I encountered an obscure piece of mythology from a video game, that's for sure (the game Age of Mythology helped me get into researching mythology at all, as a child; it's still one of my favorite games).
So first, I looked up a bilwis. A bilwis can be demonic or human and is associated with corn, which would align with what I found in the game, too. They are said to have "flying" hair, are sometimes wrapped in linen, and wear triangular hats. They often appear as whirlwinds to steal grain during harvests. Then I went, wait a minute... that sounds just like Blowhard in the game Spyro the Dragon (also one of my favorite games)!
Tumblr media
Blowhard is a bilwis! This is OG Blowhard, by the way, not from the remasters. But you should play Spyro sometime. Fantastic games. The remasters are good, too.
Anyway, that fascinated me, because I love learning things like that. But I also found something else... I found a legend called Hjúki and Bil, which was quite the rabbit-hole. Some sources claim the bilwis is related to Bil, which is how I was led here. The bilwis is sometimes said to be a female entity (but it can also be male) and was, at one time, associated with witches - and Bil is interpreted variably to be a kenning for woman, as well as a witch. The connection between Bil and the bilwis only happened in much later time periods, however - so let's go back to the original story of Hjúki and Bil.
The tale of Hjúki and Bil comes from Norse mythology. Their names are said to mean "the one returning to health" and "instant," respectively, though scholars apparently can't entirely confirm that first one. They are brother and sister, a pair of children who follow the moon across the heavens. We know about them because of - you guessed it - Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda. There are a lot of theories around these two, but they were said to have been a pair of children, both carrying a pole on their shoulders (the pole was called Simul) and held a pail called Sæg between them. But the children were taken by Mani (the moon) from the earth, to follow the moon forever in the heavens, and "can be seen from the earth."
It is possible that Hjúki and Bil represented the waning and waxing of the moon - or they may have even represented the craters on the moon. Scholars argue about it a lot, but many of them present compelling arguments that Hjúki and Bil were the craters, which were interpreted as children with a water pail between them on a stick.
Similar modern folklore from the same regions sees the Man in the Moon as a man with a pole, often carrying wood (or else stealing it and stuck in the moon as punishment), and sometimes with a woman with a bushel. This lends more credence to the idea of Hjúki and Bil being connected to the moon - and people in the moon.
There is another connection - one with Jack and Jill, the famous nursery rhyme...
You may have already noticed some similarities to the story of Hjúki and Bil and Jack and Jill - even their names sound similar! Both stories are about two children, one boy and one girl, who fetch a pail of water.
For those of you who need refreshing on the rhyme...
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after. Up Jack got and home did trot as fast as he could caper. He went to bed to mind his head with vinegar and brown paper.
The origins of many elements of folklore, mythology, nursery rhymes, fairytales, and all their kind are always mysterious and fascinating. It's entirely possible that Hjúki and Bil are directly related to Jack and Jill, and that the latter is a retelling of the original Norse tale - and that the story of Jack and Jill fetching the pail represents the waning and waxing of the moon or the craters on the moon that we can see easily from Earth.
That covers a decent overview! There is of course a lot to all these things, as you might imagine, but I chose this time to focus on informing you about the existence of Hjúki and Bil and the bilwis at all, rather than getting deep into the debate and "conversation" around all these matters.
Until next time, and have a wonderful November (and happy Thanksgiving)!

Original Universe
Crash Bandicoot:
The relationship between Crash and Tawna is an extremely cute couple since Crash saved Tawna from Dr. Neo Cortex. However, years later, Tawna was gone for unknown reasons, perhaps hanging out with her friends for years. Someday, he'll see his girlfriend again, but he has to save the world from Dr. Neo Cortex. In Crash Tag Team Racing, this is where he met a possum girl named Pasadena. Even though she basically has a crush on him and does weird, flirty things with him, we figure out that girls like Crash because of his handsome good looks. However, Crash is 100% not interested in her romantically. He only likes her as a friend because his real love is Tawna. I really don’t know how Pasadena feels about that, but I just hope she moves on from it.
Spyro The Dragon:
The relationship between Spyro and Elora would have been extremely cute, as they teamed up to defeat Ripto. At the end of the game, Elora thanked Spyro with a kiss on the head. Despite their strong bond, Spyro missed his chance with Elora. They always found a way back to each other, remaining the main love interests in the series until Elora disappeared. Later, Spyro encountered a female dragon named Ember, who developed a crush on him. She mentioned engagement rings and thought Spyro reciprocated her feelings, but he only saw her as a friend. It seems Ember really needs to move on for Spyro.
Alternative Universe
Crash Bandicoot:
The relationship between Titan Crash and Yaya is unknown but cute, in Nitro Kart 2-3D, it seems like Yaya asked Crash for help because Nitros Oxide wanted to take over her home. Crash accepted the mission, and after saving her home, Yaya thanked him (hoping for a reward like a kiss). Despite this, it's puzzling why Yaya didn't appear in Crash of the Titans and Mind Over Mutant. We may never learn more about her, but I understand the desire to ship this relationship if they remake the game for Yaya Appears.
Spyro the Dragon:
The relationship between Spyro and Cynder is strong; they share a good connection. Spyro first encountered her when she was under the influence of Malefor's poisonous powers. After defeating her, she was freed, and Spyro took on the role of caring for his friend Cynder whenever she was in trouble. Years later, the two dragons teamed up to save the world from Malefor. It seems they have a deep bond, with Cynder expressing her love for Spyro. However, the ultimate conclusion of their story remains unknown.
Even though the game's Director stated that Spyro and Cynder are friends rather than a couple, fans are still shipping them. (It raises the question of why similar fan enthusiasm isn't extended to Titan Crash and Yaya.)
In the Skylanders series, the relationship between Spyro and Crash with the girls is unknown. In this version, Spyro and Cynder are best friends, and I'm glad that Crash can talk and is portrayed as very smart. Additionally, Crash and Tawna are good friends without being portrayed as a couple. Overall, it's important to remember that this is a kids' game and show.

honestly, i have no idea what this was supposed to be in response to, but it was buried in my drafts & im gonna bring it back because i feel like it should see the light of day for a moment + i wanna add onto it.
Tumblr media
to be honest, i think this speel only scratches the surface of my fascination with the arkeyans. i don’t think i can quite put it into words but i’m gonna try.
i think it comes down to how much about them we see, but how little about them they actually know.
this was supposed to be short but it actually isn’t (surprise) so the ramble is below the cut.
i’m tired so i’m going on what’s off the top of my head, but we see certain things that imply things about their culture, but we still don’t know anything about their culture.
the weapon master calls the quicksilver vault a trial of sorts in spyro’s adventure, i think. there was a room heavily implied to be a bakery in giants. they had a whole graveyard in swap force, complete with at least one “guardian” watching over it (which notably is not a robot, nor even resembles any other arkeyan being seen or mentioned, but is a monkey of all things).
why would they need trials to prove honor/worthiness for obtaining the quicksilver? why’d they have a bakery? why would they need a graveyard, of all things, and also a guardian to watch over it?
were they once human/mortal, then turned into robots at one point, or were they always robots who were more human at heart than full robot? wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened in skylanders. (and honestly, the whole Robo-Kaos transformation could be used to swing either way)
but that might explain the simple “why,” but not the deeper “why?” or the infinitely more interesting: “what else?”
were trials and tests regular in their society, or just for protection, or just for testing arkeyan warriors? were they only a race of war machines, or were there civilians? innocents who fell to whatever sealed their race’s fate?
if they had a bakery, what else did they have? did they have their own unique cuisine? was their bakery any good? aside from food, what other “little things” did they have that were a big part of their society? were there artists? craftsmen? musicians? did they play games, sports? and what happened to all of that when whatever happened to them happened? do the remnants still stand? have we seen it and we’ll never know, save for the few location names we’ve gotten, or are they tucked away in the corners of the world we’ve never seen?
and the graveyard. the fucking graveyard. sure, maybe the level was just made as en excuse to bring the Arkeyans back as enemies for a hot minute since it’s never directly called an arkeyan graveyard, but the idea of a graveyard for robots is just so intriguing, again, given how little we know of arkeyan culture. if a robot was broken beyond fixing, couldn’t they just shove it off somewhere? throw it in a vault like where krypt king came from? why did they need a place to bury their “dead?” and since they did, did they have anything special for those with higher honor, or were they all “returned” to the dirt the same? did burials mean anything, and did the “lives” of their fellow machines mean anything special? were the graveyards and graves respected, or just a dumping ground? were the graves theirs at all, or were they put there by someone else?
(other edit: there’s a superchargers track that is basically rampant ruins but it’s called the “temple of arkus” and i’m gonna let you predict my train of thought before i spend another 15 minutes talking about a possible belief system that we’ll never know about. because then i’ll go on a tangent about how we know nothing about higher beings or religions or beliefs in skylands like at all. and that’s for another rainy day.)
and the goddamn monkey. the graveyard guardian. again, was this arkeyan, or from someone else? they “stomp robots rising from the grave,” but that still doesn’t answer anything. if we knew more, it would, but we still don’t know if the graves were intentional or incidental; if the arkeyans were buried with intent, or they ended up there when the race went kaput. if it was theirs, that brings in so many more questions. did they have a certain belief regarding the dead? or spirits or guardians? the monkey not looking arkeyan at all could be interesting from either take, honestly.
(hindsight edit: thinking about it again, the monkey statue kinda reminds me of the statues you had to put back together at the vault of the ancients, but i haven’t played it in a long time so i’m probably wrong but whatever, but that monkey being from the watch wraiths could also be an interesting swing: were they allies or enemies, if it is?)
point is, the arkeyans had so much hinted, but hardly anything told, and every little thing we got didn’t give us answers, but more questions as to who they actually were. i just think their whole lore was so cool, and i’m kinda disappointed they just dropped them entirely after swap force, but i honestly don’t trust the writing of the later games to do them total justice like giants did.
thanks for coming to my ted talk. this will happen again.

Random 1 am Skylanders/Legend of Spyro Crossover Idea
Plot bunnies attacked me at 1 in the morning, and I had to write it somewhere before it escaped my brain.
Basically, what if the Legend of Spyro trilogy and the Skylanders series were the same timeline? My more in-depth ideas are below the cut.
So after Spyro puts the world back together in the wake of the whole Destroyer debacle, he and Cynder end up in a weird time dilation purgatory(this is important, so bear with me).
In the wake of what happened, the Skylands begin to form from the floating pieces of the planet Spyro didn't quite pull back in. Later, the Skylands are fully formed.
Eventually, Spyro and Cynder are believed to have sacrificed their lives to stop Malefor; their names and stories immortalized by those they fought beside, and passed down through the ages.
Eventually, the Skylanders form as evil reemerges, a group of individuals coming together to follow in the Skylands' first heroes' steps and protect the world.
Spyro and Cynder finally emerge from Time Dilation Purgatory an undetermined amount of time before the Core of Light is destroyed by Kaos. For them, about ten years have passed, so they've grown(now 22). Not fully developed, but definitely grown up from when they last saw their home. They've had that time to master their powers, work through their respective trauma and go over their relationship. Whether platonic or romantic is up for interpretation.
They meet Eon, only to discover hundreds, or even thousands of years have passed since they defeated Malefor. They're both distraught to learn that everyone they knew before is now dead, but they're offered a home and meet the Skylanders. They're also given the opportunity to meet their friends' descendants, should they so choose, but they decide to wait so they can process and prepare.
Eventually, the two dragons start training the Skylanders, developing closer friendships with some than others. Cynder starts out wary, but eventually makes friends aside from Spyro, and vice versa. It's very good for them and their mental health, especially meeting the other dragons on the team.
Eventually, they do end up going to Dragons' Peak, which has become a sanctuary and safe haven for dragons. It's built from the remains of Warfang and the Dragon Temple, and their history is exceedingly well preserved. They're both a little bashful about the giant mural based on their battle against Malefor.
Kaos attacks the Core of Light, and Cynder and Spyro fly away in search of backup. This, they're spared from the explosion, but they both feel something terrible happened, and return to a decimated landscape, with no sign of the Skylanders, Eon, or the Core. Luckily, neither of them go into their Dark forms, having learned to control them in Time Dilation Purgatory.
In the wake of the Core of Light being destroyed, the two decide they have to defend the Skylands from Kaos as much as they can, working with Hugo, Flynn, Cali, and others to help the inhabitants of the Skylands and fend of Kaos completely overtaking the realm.
And yes, Kao is stunned by these two clearly ticked off dragons coming for him. He most likely heard stories of the two dragons who defeated the Dark Master from his mom.
Then the time comes, and the group of Skylands freedom fighters all get a message from Eon. The Skylanders are returning.
Then we get to the actual game! Just gonna do Spyro's Adventure, but I may reblog and cover the other games. Or you guys can, up to you. I have only played up to Trap Team, so someone else would need to cover Super Chargers and Imaginators, anyways.
So Hugo acts as an informant, while Flynn is transportation for non-flying individuals, and Cali is a covert operative. You throw your Skylander onto the Portal of Power, putting them into the game.
Hugo is shocked, then greets the Skylander you begin with. While introducing himself, Hugo mentions how "Mister Spyro and Miss Cynder will be quite pleased to see you, again!" Hinting at the above lore, that Spyro and Cynder are both in the game and familiar with the Skylanders.
The first level then proceeds the same is usual, and you meet our two dragons at the ruins after the cutscene going over what happened before the game and how the Skylanders ended up in our world.
Both Spyro and Cynder are shocked, but ultimately elated to see their friends again, then you go to rescue Cali with Flynn. Afterwards, Spyro and Cynder are in the ruins as well as joining you on various levels. They have a lot of witty banter with both the player and each other, showing ease and comfort in their relationship they hadn't had the chance to explore during the war. Again, platonic or romantic is up for interpretation.
What would they do in the game? My idea is that at the ruins, you can interact with one of them to challenge them to a training fight. Once you've been defeated, your Skylander doesn't die, though. You just end the training fight, and can try again. If you win, you get XP, buffs, and/or some loot for upgrades from Persephone.
In the levels, however, it's a little different. You can call on whichever of the two dragons accompany you. When you're good on health, they will act as a guide if you get lost. If you're low on health, they will fly in and fight the enemies for you until you can get a foodstuff to regain your health. They may scold you, referring to your training with them(reference to before the Core of Light was blown up, mostly, in case you don't do training fights), or giving you words of encouragement.
Levels they would be on? Spyro would be on the levels relating to Water, Earth, and Fire. Cynder would be on the levels relating to Undead, Air, and Life. Tech and Magic are undecided. Maybe they both accompany you, or maybe neither of them do. Maybe both for one and neither for the other? Then they say they'll be external support when you go to fight Kaos.
Bonus Levels: Darklight Crypt would feature Cynder, Empire of Ice would feature Spyro, neither join you against the pirates, and both join you to Dragons' Peak.
During the fight with Kaos, however, they do end up joining during the final phase. They attack the hydra, yelling for you to attack Kaos while they hold off the hyrda.
Thoughts?
Boom, Kao defeated, order restored, onwards we go!
Also, random tidbit for Trap Team, specifically the Mirror of Mystery bonus level! Both Spyro and Cynder are corrupted into their Dark forms here, though how voluntary it was remains unclear. Perhaps Evilon used their sorrow of their lost time to get such powerful beings on his side, promising to help them when he really only intended to use them. Or perhaps something else happened. Just a random tidbit there, food for thought.
Feel free to use it if you want. Whether in fanfics, or art.

My ridiculous, unrealistic smash dream roster
This was a lot of fun!
Some specific thoughts under the cut:
I cut some of the more uninteresting duplicate characters, like Dr. Mario. He does play differently than regular Mario, but not enough that I think he warrants a spot on the roster.
I would love for more sonic characters, I think shadow minimum, preferably knuckles too, and in my wildest dreams tails is there also. Shadow in particular I think would be really fun, with floatier physics than sonic. Knuckles would also be a good fit for the game, I think his moveset would translate well and with his recent surge in popularity it would be perfect.
Paper Mario would be very distinct from regular Mario; he’s a character I’ve wanted on the roster for ages. His hammer would be used in combat, he could use a spring jump for up B, and his final smash could be the star spirits from the n64 game assisting him like they did in the final bowser fight.
I’m craving more Zelda rep, and I think Ghirahim is a great choice for a more original swordfighter. However, any of the sages from botw/totk would also be a blast. I think a Rito character would be the least interesting, but I would be fine with a Goron, a zora, or a Gerudo. Sidon and Urbosa are my favs, so I would give them preference.
As much as I don’t think we necessarily need another jrpg swordfighter, I love Chrono and he could replace a fire emblem character. He also can use light magic, which would help him stand out more. His final smash could be a triple tech, I feel delta force or delta storm makes the most sense, but would feel a bit bad only 2 of his companions get used. So maybe his regular tech Luminaire instead?
In addition to Alucard, while he wasn’t on this tiermaker, I would love for soma Cruz to be an option. He has a very versatile moveset in the sorrow games, so there’s a lot of flexibility with making his attacks. Both him and Alucard could turn into bats for recovery, perhaps?
There are many characters I don’t particularly care for if they make it in the game one way or another, such as doomguy, Rayman, waluigi, etc. but I think the push for them to be added from the fandom is great so I would include them just for them.
Cuphead + mugman purely because I want them animated like their games and it would be a very cool stylistic choice
Earthworm Jim is an absolute legend and I would do anything for him to be added. It would be hysterical.
Most of the assist trophies are characters I like, but don’t think they’d translate as well to fighters, like Spyro, crash, or Ashley, but still have cool powers that would make them fun to summon.
Dixie, Jeanne, and Pauline would be echo fighters. Would that mean Peach has 2 echo fighters? Sorry Daisy, you have to go then…
Dr. egg man would be such a fun story mode boss! I mean it! He was made for this!

I want to see if this works to help me sleep, I'm not sure if it will, but here we go.
Instead of staying up all night cleaning I decided I'd experiment with baking.
I decided to use up some tinned fruit and make cupcakes. However, I misjudged the cooking temperature and times. I didn't give them a chance to rise in the oven... They were burnt in the top but gooey in the middle and stuck to the cases.
I believe I made a good attempt though because I haven't baked or cooked for so long and that I'm able to know what I did wrong with the recipe I made up is good.
When I bake I feel closer to my Mum and I don't understand why my dad doesn't remember doing things like this when I was younger. I remember we baked and decorated cakes for my birthdays over the years but for some reason he doesn't remember doing that. It makes me feel like my entire childhood and all of my good memories are retcons and falsehoods.
My life is like the crash bandicoot series.
Looking back at the beautiful PlayStation one games, created by naughty dog, it gave me everything I could ever ask in my life and I was able to see so many things.
My dad could never comprehend the beauty in a fluffy orange fictional devil...
Tumblr media
Cos damn, I don't forget that crash was my first love for obvious reasons - look at how ginger half my partners have been!
Where was I with this metaphor actually?
Oh yes, sometimes with my dad the good parts of my childhood and relationships with my family are likewise forgotten about like the crash bandicoot games that were made for the PlayStation 2 by those other developers... Ehrrrhmmm? 🤔
Tumblr media
Spyro had the same treatment in my opinion but that's up for debate cos I am too tired to go reading about Spyro this time of now morning. A lot of people I know associated the PlayStation with Crash Bandicoot and the PlayStation 2 could be more Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper. But let's say I see the PS2 as dominated by a gorgeous silver haired dude in the red trench coat. (I have tattoos for this, I love video games).
I want to talk more about video games because I realized that that is the main thing that I wanted to do with my life.
Crash doesn't really need to be talked about when I should be asleep...
The point I was trying to make at some point I think was the whole I feel like my dad doesn't remember or doesn't acknowledge the parts of my childhood that were good with my mum and how she inspired me to become a gamer nerd 🤓 inspired me a lot really with art and music and writing. All of the things that I went on to study were because of my mum and all of the friends that I have that are lifelong friends, like my Nakama, and I love them all so much they are like family.
Crash Bandicoot reminds me that you go on adventures and when you're fighting against a boss it means you're going in the right direction... Also remember to save the game and go back to the first island to get wumpa fruit and grind until you have enough lives to face the big baddy daddy.
Life is in the game? 💪😁
Anyway, Nakama is Ohana, brother is like a family man. I love all my friends! 😍💗🥰

Honestly yes to your post abt games kinda losing their soul bc devs focus on realism and effects n shit. Like some current games are both fun AND gorgeous, but a lot of games. Fall flat in the fun gameplay and plot section and it's like the whole team worked on one bloom effect for 2 weeks. Some realistic gritty games are great, but also like. Yes pls give us back the 2000s vibe games had.
Oh yeah, absolutely I agree on some current games are total knockouts from all angles! It's reassuring that people still get creative and passionate work out into the market despite it becoming more and more hostile towards adventurous design risks. Like I've got over 1800 hours on RDR2 and it's bc I enjoyed the realism and looking around to admire all the little details (ntm the horses have such good weight to their walks that it inspires me to draw if I just trot a little horsie around in the sun for awhile).
It's just a bummer that realistic games are the main focus of AAA companies these days. With proper funding and a well built team they could have easily revived multiple genres from early 2000s and probably made them even more profitable. Imagine a TLOU-sized budget for a fresh stylized platformer 😭. Like just look at how kick ass the Spyro remaster was and all they did was update the graphics and smooth out glitches and it was awesome. I've heard similar things abt the Crash remaster but I've not played it much--both are by Toys for Bob though so I'd imagine the quality standard is pretty comparable.
Idk we just need to figure out a way to explain that sometimes a single large triangle on the mesh was literally the most attractive option for a design instead of putting 2 million of triangles into a single hair lock

I read something about how Sony is already planning to make the PS6 because the PS5 wasn't meeting their financial goals. Similarly, I saw something about Microsoft wanting to try working on the next Xbox- both want to try and make the graphics the strongest ever-
God they just do not fucking get it man. The ps5 and Xbox Series SeX are fine, they just came out and they're so strong you can barely differentiate life from them. The graphics are not the issue here- actually, scratch that, the REALISM is not the issue here. The issues are
Price. Nobody can fucking afford those things in this economy. Why are we fucking charging almost a month's rent for a game console 10 people bought?
Availability. I can count the number of times I've seen a wild PS5 last year on ONE hand, man
There's no fucking exclusives worth getting. Horizon? Okay, great, but is there ANYTHING else you can't get for cheaper on the PS4, Xbone, or pc's that are still running just fine? This is the huge things- Remember when Sony used to have a strong lineup of Sly, Spyro, Crash, Jak and Daxter, and eventually Infamous? Remember... Well, Xbox had Halo I guess? I guess Gears of War, but other than that I can't say I can remember anything good that was original and exclusive.
Graphics- Remember how I changed my mind? That's because these big companies think we need to be able to see the exact excretion of sweat from a pore in a horse's nutsack, when we really don't? What's needed is something more cartoonish like the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube era, something that sticks out and isn't lost among games that look exactly the same. This, combined with Exclusives, is why Nintendo just has more memorable games.
Here's my opinion: Stop trying to pursue reality-level graphics and start trying to pursue fun ideas again that don't just appeal to your average brain rotted CoD or EA sports player. Plenty of adults still love cartoonish games like Mario, and you still make a game look GREAT that lasts years later (Okami is a huge one, but also look at Sly 2 for PS2, Sonic Colors for Wii, etc).
Also, stop trying to use top of the line parts that will either get scalped or never sell for way too much. A game console should be no more than $360 max imo, and you don't need to make its "exclusives" completely 1 to 1 with reality because it's just gonna look bad in 5 years. You need something that looks FUN, that appeals to all ages and not just either little kids or adults that think they're too "adult" to enjoy something other than your copy paste war zone or zombie apocalypse.
Focus on stability and accessibility, not a pissing contest to see who can go bankrupt first.

holy shit
3 weeks of editing and basically 2 years of game play to get the best clips edited in the very best way and holy shit the montage is so close to done there is only room for 1 more clip and i just have to wait for my guy to be able to send to me and as bad as i want him to just see it because its so good its TOO good to spoil i cant show him it unfinished i need him to see it completely finished so he can experience the the little mini movie event that ive put together in just under 4 min i did so much editing and touched up the clips themselves even to make sure none looked dull or flat and i brightened up night time clips and etc etc etc i just want this video to be perfect cause i think of it as a legacy in a silly way in however many years we'll be able to look back and go "remember that time we started getting pretty good at beach aw in gta online?" and just having the proof to myself and not having to rely on memory and being able to relive those things, thats really what i think the channel is all together, i never made it to be a big youtber i made is for personal prosperity and now its just in prosperity for me and my guy. Our channel is just going to be a little section of memories and as much as i love gta its why i want to post other stuff too because i feel like eventually a large amount of memories and things will be had uploading different things and being able to capture that is really precious. I couldnt do that in my childhood, what i would give to have streams of me when i was little playing crash bandicoot with my sisters or spyro the dragon. I have these really faint flashes of memory but not much else and i wish i could just have those moments preserved like me and him do right now. I think im gunna start really doing different things with the channel now that im fully realizing this just uploading whatever we wantg to anything and eveyrthing because i basically just want it to be a time capsule and i know i know "youtube is a private service its not guaranteed your videos will always be there" okay we'd lose some stuff a little bit of raw footage here and there and we'd lose most of the streams but all the public videos on the channel i have backed up to a hard drive and now that im also realizing that in context i'll need a hard drve to start backing up the raw footage of streams to preserve those in perpetuity as well. Growing up we had photo albums that was like your definitive little book of memories but you can have so much more now, you can have almost every part of a person you can have their face and their voice and their presence you can re live those moments without having to try as hard as you can to remember and human memory sucks and is flawed you dont remembers things how you think you do, you think its like finding a file on a computer and putting it away but the brain doesnt work like that every time you remember something you remember the last time you remembered it. So the more often you remember something the likely it is details to change but it can make entire scenarios change because everytime you've remembered it you're altering the file its like your pulling up the file, trying to copy it really quick, we're human so we have certain tendencies and those play out subconsciously, copying the file and adding your extra human brain goo smudges to it and putting it back and very time you remembers it this happens those smudges build up more and more god damn i nailed that metaphor lets go OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH's in the chat folks

WoW, Dragonflight: A Review
As some people already know, whether it be from within my limited social circle or catching a glimpse of Kat in the wild, I have been playing through Dragonflight for the last 3 weeks. As a disclaimer, I did not pay for the expansion or game time, it was a gift. So I took this time to form my thoughts around the game and its changes without the bias of "I paid money for this, so I feel like I should like it".
Below are my opinions and current review of World of Warcraft Dragonflight that nobody asked for, but I'm providing anyway. Read at your discretion.
Opening thoughts:
Dragonflight, much like previous expansions, has all these new and shiny features to reel you in and, in hopes, get you hooked. The thing here is to look beyond the surface-level shiny polish when you first get started to determine whether this was a change for better or worse. There are many quality-of-life improvements to the game this time, making it much more alt-character friendly and less grindy. But there are also new mechanics that work only for the new content and could create issues for old content, or future content, if not appropriately addressed.
Additionally, can Blizzard stick to this course of listening to the fan base, or will they go back to old ways like we saw in Legion where the opening of the expansion is just fan service to lock in long sub times, and then the wheels fall off? This, right now, feels like fan service to me.
Dragon riding:
It's neat, it's cool, and it's a shiny new feature that is appealing from the trailers and video footage. But does it hold up? Well, yes, but not at first. Dragon riding, early on, is tedious and a chore, and rather lackluster. Fortunately, your progress in unlocking dragon riding skills and abilities is account-wide, so you only have to experience the worst pains once. Making the navigation much easier on alts.
Navigating some zones is easier than others. Azure Span, for example, is one big hill. Flying from east to west in the first playthrough is nice as it's downhill. But flying west to east, all uphill is frustrating if you lack upgrades. Once you spend a few hours collecting all the relics and progressing the story to fully unlock every skill and ability for dragon riding, it's fun and makes the navigation much smoother. There is a learning curve for how to manage your vigor, but you get there.
Dragon riding is a nice feature for this expansion, even if it's almost a carbon copy from Guild Wars with Spyro mini-games. However, it raises some concerns about repeatability and zone scaling. It makes perfect sense for Dragon Isle, but what I don't want to see is this feature getting replicated in every subsequent expansion like we have seen with other niche expansion features (mission tables, renown, companions/buddies). Doing so will make it stale in taste and no doubt run into a rut as they try and "spice it up" to whatever the expansion theme is.
Onto the issue with zone scaling. I'm curious if these zones were designed so large to accommodate Dragon Riding, or if Dragon Riding forced them to scale larger. I'm willing to bet it was somewhere in the middle. Because of the speed at which you can fly once maxed out in skills and abilities, this creates a massive issue for old-world scaling, if they ever wanted to enable Dragon Riding in old zones. I just don't see this as feasible, even as the community asks for it, and I don't see Blizzard willing to do the work to rescale old zones to be canonically proper and fit the scale that the Dragon Isles has set. These new island continents started to dwarf the so-called "mainland" at this point.
Professions:
This was a much-needed refresh on the professions, in my opinion. It brings back that old feeling of specialization and creates an economy where crafters rely on each other just as much as everyone else. It keeps prices in balance and everyone happy, preventing one person with several alts from tunneling their own goods. Unless they make even more alts to cover all the niche specializations.
It's also nice to see that players can make a name for themselves as "that person who makes the best" of something because they specced into a specialization and dedicated time to it. These folks have a tight market right now and can charge what they want, but as others catch up it will even out and become more open.
Side note: I think this creates nice Roleplay opportunities as well, being able to back up a claim that your character is specialized in making something in particular, and gives market events new depth and meaning.
Content:
PvE...look it's the same as it's always been. Nothing feels much different here and I didn't expect it would. You run around the world, dungeon, raid, and spam your rotation buttons until something dies. It is what it is.
PvP/Warmode. So it's interesting to me that there are gear sets for instanced PvP and a set for Warmode. I haven't seen a performance difference between the two, so the Warmode set right now does not feel like a good investment. Tuning in PvP is always interesting but it feels solid right now, despite what some folks will say when they are biased toward their own skill level only. The solo shuffle for Arena is a good addition I feel, but it can be a mixed bag. If you want to play this mode, do so with a grain of salt because it's 6 rounds and goes until the first kill per round, swapping the team members around each time.
Roleplay. Yeah, I mean. It's there. We all know some people are going to be heathens and bastardize stuff while ignoring lore. But that's not the point of this, I'm looking at RP potential for the Dragon Isles. It is certainly there, much more potential for RP than Shadowlands. Exploration-based characters, historians, and even more profession-based characters have somewhere to be here. With the military non-existent, you will need to find a reason, though.
Overall story? Yeah, it's much more enjoyable than Shadowlands, I will say that. We're not going hard on retcons and rewrites this time around, which is nice. Seeing existing characters and races get much more screen time than they previously did is also nice. This ancient evil that the titans hid away, making us question the motives, is on brand for them. After all, people who are all about "order" will achieve it by any means, good or bad. This is much more digestible than some cosmic bigger-bad like we've been chasing for the last, well, forever in expansions.
During an interview, it was revealed that quest writers were handed bullet points for a zones story and told to fill in the rest. This, honestly, explains a lot about the previous expansions and why the zone stories felt so divorced from the main over-arching story. However, that does not seem to be the case here as everything ties up together nicely. But, some of the side quest storylines definitely feel more well-rounded than some of the full zone stories.
You also only need to experience this linear progression once. Any alt character playthroughs you can select which zones to go to and when, and have instant access to the world quests. Speaking of those...
World Quests:
Much better executed this time around than their previous iterations. With them resetting on Tuesdays and Fridays only (world PvP and pet battle is still daily) it doesn't feel like you have to grind out several hours' worth of content each day. You can play at your own pace and work through 1 zone a day rather than all of them at once. The bigger WQs, such as the world boss and group assaults, reset only on Tuesday so you have a full week to do them.
World events such as the Community Feast, Elemental Storms, Dragonbane Assault, and Primalist future have several-hour cooldowns between so it's not a constant farming grind and you can get them done when you feel like it.
Renown:
Honestly, I'm still not a fan of this system. It was "neat" in Shadowlands at first but got old fast. At least this time around the rewards are, mostly, cosmetic and have little impact on gameplay. Some quests are locked behind renown levels, however, and getting the rep is still a bit of a chore, but only the first time. Luckily there is a nice catch-up bonus unlocked for alts when you meet the required renown on your main character. There isn't much to say here. It's how the rep works, and you just have to deal with it. If you pick up a contract for a faction on Tuesday and go through the world quests, you'll complete them in a reasonable time.
Closing Thoughts:
All-in-all the expansion seems to be starting off strong (though Shadowland sets the bar pretty low). My concern is that this will be a fan service period, throwing all this new shiny stuff with thought-out storylines, to entice resubs and lock in the 6/12-month subs with the rewards the dangle just to meet a metric and appease the shareholders.
I just do not trust Blizzard not to drop the ball, so to say, and fumble the ending of the expansion with hamfisted character stories and cobbled plotlines trying to make it all work. Dragon Isles has a good theme now, so stick with it. There are plenty of other loose ends in the world story that can be tied up and resolved as well, so let's not ignore existing world issues and hanging character plots.
Also, in my opinion, let's get some old zone revamping to match what is happening in the lore. Galrakands bones are gone? Cool, so remove them. Update Stormwind and Orgrimar with higher rez models. Because putting in hi-rez assets like the trading posts in low-rez cities is getting to be an eye-sore.
At this time, I still have mixed feelings and am unsure if I will buy sub time once this gifted time runs out. I still have several days to make a decision, so we will see.

Dear GIULIETTA, DARLING SIS! <3 WELCOME, WELCOME INTO MY INBOX (omg you sent me Lilo &Stitch gif, I swear that so us! you adorable as Lilo, and I the little chaotic gremlin lol)
NOW.
ONTO YOUR QUESTIONS, WITHOUT FURTHER ADO.
1.Last game you finished Answered here!
2. 1-3 games you’ve played in the past 12 months that you really enjoyed Mmmm, lemme see: I have to say that I really really REALLY liked Vampire The Masquerade: Coterie of New York (so much so, that I cannot wait to buy VtM:Swansong as well) and Genshin Impact.
6.A series you’ve enjoyed since your early days of gaming and still enjoy to this day whether it still has games coming out or is one you return to Final Fantasy, without any doubt. Final Fantasy was the first “grown up” game I took a step into when I “graduated” from Spyro and Crash Bandicoot (other two series that are still very dear to my heart), and I find myself always waiting impatiently for any new game that Squeenix decides to give us. 9.A game you played completely blind with no prior knowledge of and enjoyed/loved STARDEW VALLEY. I knew absolutely nothing about this game, and only saw some gifs reblogged by mutuals here on tumblr, but the whole “pixelated old-style game” vibe that it had just really tickled my interest. So I bought it, and it was ABSOLUTE love. ABSOLUTE LOVE. It’s relaxing, fun and the characters are just pure awesomeness. I adore it so much. (here, take a look at my bebe Seb here <3)
Tumblr media
10.A console and/or handheld you’ve never played but would like to tryMmm, I have to be honest, I have been with the PS team ever since the PS1, and I personally never felt the need to try anything else, but if I were to choose, I would say maybe the old Wii was something that intrigued me but never had the chance to try. 12.A character you particularly like in the game you’re currently playing LOOK AT THESE BEBES. THIS HIMBO RIGHT HERE, SUN IN MY HEART!. He always brings me such big smiles each time I hear him talk. He is an absolute idiot, and I adore him.
Tumblr media
AND THIS SLUTTY SLUTTY IDIOT(most affectionate) THAT DESERVES THE WHOLE WORLD.
Tumblr media
13.Quick, name the first song from a game that comes to mind THIS ONE (technically is from Advent Children, but this is freaking Sephiroth’s theme, so it counts as such).
youtube
14.A song that’s sure to hit your nostalgia buttons Omg THIS ONE. ABSOLUTELY THIS ONE.
youtube
Kingdom Hearts II is such a special game for me, some of the best memories I have are connected to this, and because of this, it just evokes such strong nostalgia. Such good memories indeed. <3
20. A boss you think is really cool These two bastards here have the crown. They are the absolute coolest that I can think of. Magnificent Bastards, both of them. I hate to love them as much as I do fml.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
21. A boss that was disappointing
Honestly, Yu Yevon from FFX. It was honestly SO EASY TO DEFEAT, I am not exaggerating when I say that I was so incredibly disappointed. Like, I had a MUCH harder time defeating Yunalesca than Yu Yevon, and that's saying A LOT.
24.A game with a cool art style The Arcana. It’s seriously such an amazing game overall, but the artstyle is truly chef’s kiss. (also, in this house, we love and adore Julian, that kinky son of a good woman fml.)
Tumblr media
thanks for all the questions, darling sis! <3
