You know you saying how 'libfems' in your country don't even bother translating English terms reminds me of how non American(or from any English speaking country) gender folks, and in general chronically online people keep using English(or from some other countries sometimes, Japan mainly if they're anime fans) slurs to describe themselves.

Recently I had a converstation with such a person; she kept claiming how all these slurs(from English speaking countries, and few from Japan---yeah, she's into anime) have been reclaimed and are no longer bad words(without even explaining why and withourlt stating their new meanings if according to her they don't have a bad meaning any more), and what pissed me off is how she's neither Japanese nor from an English speaking country, plus of course the dismissal of all people that are beyond distressed with those slurs. And that's the thing that gets to me, like while I dislike people that call themselves slurs at the very least it's their language, but how dare people who don't speak that language natively call themselves those slurs and especially cause they'd never use their countrie's versions. I once heard someone state how they don't know any other word to describe themself with other than the q-slur, they said it's easier; and like why doesn't any such word in their own country describe them. I just...it pisses me off so much.

And of course as you said, Americans refuse to accept that it's their fault that these chronically online 'activists' are using their language and don't bother translating cause they *know* it's American only.

Most expected twist ever 🤡 Seriously for how self-obsessed these bozos are you'd think they'd avoid acting like clones of each other.

There is nothing i find more embarrassing than hearing people around me so captured by American culture they'll casually use buzzwords like "queer" or "wokism". It's like you can never escape the internet anymore. I suppose you can't control how language evolves (and it goes both ways, nothing cringier than seeing someone call feminine lesbians "femme" for instance), but boy is it annoying, doubly so when you know the word is a slur in English.

At the same time, non English native speakers simply don't have any personal aversion to "queer" due to it never being used around them, most of them only came into contact with the "positive" use of the word online in the last ten years, so i get why it happens and i wouldn't blame them first. I would definitely blame first the people who knew FULL WELL the weight that word has and intentionally spread it anyways. In fact i think these "queer" proponents deliberately encouraged the use of the term worldwide because having it show up internationally strengthens their position - it's not just an American quirk, it's an "international movement". Then they get to say identity politics are "western" - they're not! They're an American invention, popularised on American websites, clearly evolved from American views on religion/sex roles/community politics/etc., as well as the American marketing concept of segmentisation. Gender ideology developped thanks to the lobbying of American pharmaceutical giants like Abbvie, and is being promoted by American media companies like Netflix. Consulting agencies like Blackrock offer "inclusivity training" with that American perspective in mind to foreign govermental agencies as well as private companies. Etc etc.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD FANFICS TO iBOOKS

Today I’ll show you how I read my fanfics on the iOS app — iBooks!

Exporting fanfics are relatively easy, I like to have all my fanfics on one app so it is easier for me to keep track of. I will be using two websites today: Ao3 and Fanfiction.net to show you how to export a fanfic from those sites.

These are the only two that I know of that can be exported into an ePub (which is going to be the form of reading used on the iBooks app). I am running my device on the highest update, but i know that you can do this on earlier versions of ios devices, things will just be in different places.

Lets start with Ao3 and how to export from there!

AO3 Version:

1. go to your story of choice and click on the download button. This will pop a menu up with different file kinds, press EPUB.

2. this message will pop up, press the download button. You have successfully downloaded a book from ao3 to your iBooks! [scroll downwards for how to open, and how to add a cover to the ePub file]

FANFICTION.NET VERSION:

1. copy the link of your chosen fanfic ( you can also do this with ao3 links, but ao3 has an epub converter built into their system)

Go to this link: fichub

paste your link into the box above the export button.

2. press export.

your file will be converted into multiple forms, press the download as epub version. You have successfully downloaded and exported a fic from ff.net!

3. (optional) Go to this link: Epub Cover Change

Press on EPUB FILE to add the file of your story of choice.

Press on COVER IMAGE to add the image you want to make the cover

IMPORTANT!! change the tab next to Image Resize to FILL so the picture can properly format to the epub size.

Press Change to create converstion.

4. Press Download Now. Wait a few minutes for the conversion to take place.

5. Continue to download.

6. On the upper left hand corner, there will be a circle with an arrow. click it to find your files!

7. press downloads. it will show you all you have downloaded. click on the most recent to chose the one WITH the cover. if its not that one, just delete it from your ibooks once opened and try again with another downloaded file.

8. this should be your outcome! your fic will pop up on your iBook library with other books once you click on the file from your downloads.

As many of you know, I am the host of a DDNOS system. Today has been... Eventful, and upsetting. Some of you have seen what might have appeared to be erratic behavior from "me" today. That was actually several of our alters kicking in to protect me from what was happening.

I don't remember everything that's happened today. Looking at my tumblr activity, it seemed the more creative alters continued writing and interacting with people in my stead to avoid rousing suspicion and worries. I thank them for it.

If anything, anything at all has happened that I didn't see that made you uncomfortable, whether on tumblr or discord, please tell me so I can address the issue. I doubt anything did but they may have made a stray comment or two, I'm not sure. Normally we pass well but today was extreme.

My alters mean well, but some of them are awkward and don't understand websites like tumblr. Many thanks. If any of you wish to learn more about this or have questions, feel free to ask me and I will gladly answer, regardless of if you've been impacted by this or not. And if you're worried, I assure you, I will be okay. Eventually.

week 10 - Languages

Honestly, so excited for this week because before uni I was focusing on Swedish language and culture in high school

Mon - What is your native language?

Estonian, apparently it sounds really pretty and is one of the hardest languages in Europe to learn? It is damn difficult because as a native i struggled with it in school and was honestly better in some foreign languages.

Tue - Do you speak any other languages? Are you currently learnign any?

English on pretty native level as I am doing my degree in English and I started learning it when i was 5 or 6. And got C1 (2 points away from C2) on my CAE exam. 

My Swedish skills aren’t as good as they were 2 years ago when i had intensively studied it in school for 3 years but I can still hold some kind of converstation with my norwegian best friend (he speaks in Norwegian and i answer in Swedish).  I’m trying to relearn vocabulary from duolingo and having Swedish subtitles anywhere I can. As an tourist in Sweden I can probably still survive with my skills for the whole trip.

Used to be able to speak a bit of Russian as it was mandatory in school for 8 years but I can hardly remember anything now. Still I occasionally try to refreshen my memory through duolingo.

Also tried to learn Welsh but haven’t found a website that suits me so taking a bit of a pause from that one.

F*cking Whyville.

OH MY GOSH. Talk about a trip down memory lane hahaha! So I went on to Whyville tonight for the first time in like maybe 15 years? Oh my gosh that was the fucking site to be on when I was in like 4th and 5th grade. At my school anyway. Everyone still had a myspace that they would get on at home but at school Whyville was the place to be!

See my school was fortunate enough to one of the few schools selected to test out the new ebook program that was supposed to improve learning by “cutting down on time from exchanging out textbooks from our lockers” and “to help us not carry as much weight in our backpack from the heavy textbooks we had to lug home each day.” Basically those reason were bullshit and it was all to help the schools save money on the cost of textbooks each year. Each student at our school was assigned a laptop that we had to return back at the end of the school year. Exciting right cuz your in elementary school and you have your own laptop. Well too bad the I.T. fuckers that the school hired rigged the laptop to where it blocked basically every site imaginable that would be considered “fun” or “distracting.” Even at home hooked up to your own internet you couldn’t access these sites (trust me I tried). So these people thought this was a fool proof idea now since they blocked the sites that would keep us from learning. Well too bad for them they didn’t think of Whyville.

I can’t remember who started the whole Whyville thing at our school. I think it was this boy that was in my grade that recently move in from somewhere that knew about the site and tested if he could get on it during school. Obviously he was successful and word spread like wild fire around our school about Whyville. If you don’t know what Whyville is its this website that is supposed to be a fun place for kids to go to for “educational” game and to be able to connect with other kids of grade school level. But we didn’t care about that shit. All we care about were the massive chat rooms that we could use to communicate with each other during class. The most popular one for us was the Greek Theater. That was the place to be out of all the chat rooms. Everyone would fucking meet up in there and start shooting the shit with each other. The beach was another place to go chat but usually that was waaaaay to packed in order to have a conversation with anyone. There were also other chat rooms you could go to if you wanted to have a conversation with just a couple of your friends instead of in front of the whole school basically. It was so bad in our school that we would start a conversation in Whyville, have that same converstion during lunch together, and then GO BACK to class and STILL continue that conversation on Whyville. We were obsessed with this site hahaha.

Also in Whyville, you would have an avatar that you could earn “clams” by playing games and buy things to dress up your avatar in a way that you want. The avatar you would get as a “Newbie” when you first sign up for Whyville back then was what could be considered now is offensive hahah. The Newbie avatar would have that like a big potato face and you would have this bright red Ronald McDonald clown hair. But the worst of all was the fact that your avatar’s face would be COVERED in pimples. Bright red pimples that nobody could miss. Thats why everyone would try to earn as many “clams” as soon as possible in order for them the change their avatar quickly hahaha. And of course the unwritten rule was the more cool looking your avatar was, the more popular you were. Eventually, the I.T. fuckers put a stop to Whyville by blocking the website on our laptops. But man it had a long run before they could figure out how to block it.

Now because I had nothing better to do this night while my sweet doggo falls asleep, I decided to see if I could even access the Whyville site for shits and giggles. Sure enough I did. There was no way in hell I could remember the login to my old Whyville account so I decided to create a new one. Once I was done creating my account I was free to travel down any memory lane I choose to. I had to get my “Chat License” before I was able to enter into any chat room which is a course you have to take basically saying if anyone asks you anything personal to report it to their “website police”. So that was done and I was so excited to enter the chat rooms to see what it would be like since so many years have passed. Maybe some other kids decided to use this as there scape goat from their restrictive computer and created a social platform that they could communicate on. So I went to the beach since that was such a popular room to go into. AND I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THERE HAHAHAHAHAHA. There was fucking NO ONE in the once packed chat room. So I thought well maybe this isn’t the popular one to be in anymore and decide that I would travel around the other chat rooms to find where the other citizens of Whyville were at. no where to be found.
