shook me all night long ( munson )
Tumblr media
author's note: had a rather intrusive thought in the middle of my shift today n couldn't let it go. like i know that ac/dc was very well known globally in the 80s but i feel like aus kinda took it to the next level? like there is undoubtably not an australian that grew up in that decade that doesn't know every word to every song. n say that reader has moved from aus to hawkins to live with extended family and they're a metal head like eddie and introduces him to ac/dc? ( edit: i was high when i wrote this and it took me days to edit omg )
or
the reader lives in the trailer next to eddie's and they end up exchanging cassettes from time to time.
warnings: 18+! MDNI! strong language, smut ( eddie x gender neutral reader ), oral ( m!receiving ), use of y/n - i think it's like two or three times idk, eddie just straight up being whipped for the reader it's kinda cute
word count: 4.2k
moving to hawkins, indiana at the beginning of your senior year wasn't the first thing on your to do list but you didn't end up with much of a choice. your uncle had received the opportunity of a life time and as your legal guardian ( even though your 18th birthday was merely a month away ) you were involuntarily dragged along with him and your aunt. you didn't necessarily hate the town. it was a weird place. mall fires and stories of a lab killing a teenage girl. nothing seemed like it at all fit. like the town was a puzzle with several, very important, pieces missing. regardless of all this, you couldn't help but be drawn in. like the darkest parts of hawkins were begging you to explore them.
maybe that's also what drew you to your obnoxiously loud neighbour and his impeccable taste in music. eddie munson, who you'd seen around school leading his D&D club through the halls, was exactly the kind of person that would have your mother rolling in her grave if she ever saw you around him. she'd never taken a liking to the way you expressed yourself, all dark clothes and sterling silver, loud music blaring through your cassette player at all hours of the day. and so, in typical fashion, you'd left your worn out judas priest cassette on his doorstep one morning ( along with a return address ) in hopes to spark up some sort of conversation. it was returned two days later with a red circle around the sixth track, a note sticking out of the casing. this one was my favourite was scribbled across the lined paper in red marker. "eat me alive, huh?" you mumbled and flipped the cassette in the air as you moved into the trailer, laughing to yourself.
the day after your tape was returned you almost crushed one under your foot as you left for school that morning. looking down you spotted 'theatre of pain' sitting right by your toe. you'd heard theatre of pain in passing some time last year. a few songs were played on the radio. motley crue wasn't, however, a band that you pictured eddie actually listening to. the makeup and glam-rock sound didn't really seem to be his type of vibe. you were proved wrong again on that regard though when the next week he left a def leppard tape at your door.
even though these exchanges were small and quite insignificant, you felt like you were learning a lot more about eddie through the tapes and the notes he left with them. always circling his favourite song on the back of your tape in the same red marker. the note always flirty. you also felt like you were opening yourself up a little more as well. you never really had anyone to share your music taste with. your dad had died when you were ten after he introduced you to rock music so you'd never really felt good about sharing what it meant to you with anyone else. it was your thing that you cherished because of him. that was obviously until you moved to the trailer park and the loud music blasting from the house next door made you feel at ease. safe in a way that you hadn't in a long time.
the exchanges went on for a while. each of you leaving longer notes which lead to exchanging glances in the hallways. on a dreary sunday night, perhaps two or so weeks after the judas priest tape was left, you decided to take a risky step and leave your all time favourite cassette on eddie’s porch in hopes that he’d find it and listen to it before school the next day. the sticky note you stuck to the cover of the who made who album simply read this one is my favourite of all time. treat her with respect please x. you knew that ac/dc was renowned throughout the world but there was a high likelihood that a small town like hawkins hadn’t heard much of them. it was a shot in the dark, their sound being something that felt so central to australia, but it was a step that you were willing to take if it meant it brought you closer to eddie.
so here you sat, alone at your lunch table with your walkman by your side as it played the ozzy tape that eddie had left you a few days ago. you were watching his table, seeing dustin and mike laugh at something that gareth must of said. eddie was normally there by now, ranting about one thing or another in his typical exaggerated way. but he wasn’t. frowning to yourself, you pulled your headphones off your ears and began to collect your things. he obviously wasn’t coming in today. perhaps you’d catch him tomorrow.
you were pushing yourself out of your seat when you felt a hand on your shoulder and suddenly you were shoved back down into the chair. a small yelp escaped your lips as your ass hit the hard plastic. whipping your head around, you locked eyes with eddie as he pulled out the chair beside you and practically slammed your ac/dc tape on the table. “how have i never heard of these guys!” he exclaimed, shuffling the seat closer to you in the process. “never?” you asked, a little surprised. you already knew that it was a risky move but you never would have thought that he’d never heard of them. “not even on the radio?” eddie looked at you, raising his eyebrow. “sweetheart, do i look like i listen to the radio?” you melted a little at the pet name. “i have more of their stuff back home if you want to come over after school?” you tried really hard to not sound too excited at the idea of eddie being in your house, in your room. he grinned at you, teeth nipping at his bottom lip in the process. if there was a god, you knew he was testing you.
“sounds like fun” he said and you reached for your tape. he snatched it up before you could wrap your fingers around it. “i think i’ll hold onto this for a little bit longer, thank you.” and with that he was up and moving towards his table, the boys all eyeing you as eddie walked towards them.
you sat on your couch, arm resting on the back as you stared out the window. you’d sped home so that you’d get to the trailer park before eddie, hoping that your uncle's motorcycle he let you ride to school on the odd occasion, would beat his old van. you had. and you also had time to change clothes, find every ac/dc cassette you owned and sort them by release date. school was let out 30 minutes ago and he still wasn’t home. you were starting to regret even asking him over. sighing to yourself you moved away from the window and headed towards the speaker on the kitchen counter. your aunt and uncle wouldn’t be home from work until later that evening. it was like that most days of the week, which meant you had time to yourself with your music for a few hours.
you slipped the led zeppelin tape into the player and grinned when whole lotta love started blasting through the speakers. you swayed your hips slightly to the music as you moved through the kitchen. as the chorus swelled and the music grew louder, you didn’t hear eddie enter. didn’t hear him throw himself down on the couch and like he lived there, arms spread over the back of the seat and head cocked to the side as he watched you move through the small kitchen. he smiled to himself, resisting the urge to pinch his thigh to remind himself that he’s not dreaming. that he’s actually here. he’d been hoping that the little flirtations that had been going on between you for the past month were not entirely one-sided. that there was a chance you might be interested in him as well.
he’d never met anyone like you. foul mouthed and unapologetic. you’d caught his eye the moment that you walked into the lunch hall. you’d dressed almost exactly like he was, given you were wearing a very cropped metallica shirt and not a hellfire one and your worn leather jacket looked like it was going to fall apart with each movement. and then you’d been the one to make the first move. he’d be lying if he said he didn’t listen to the tape over and over again because he knew that you had. because it was yours. he waited patiently each time he returned your tape with one of his. dreaming of your handwriting on the yellow sticky notes you always used. even when he wasn’t waiting for something to appear on his front porch he was thinking of you. of the way you power walked through the halls, never stopping to let anyone look at you a second time. he admired it. admired you.
you spun on your heel and jumped, a small yelp escaping your lips when you spotted eddie lounging on the couch. “eddie!” you shouted, throwing the juice box you were holding at him. it hit him square in the chest and he let out a soft laugh. “sorry, i didn’t mean to scare you” he said, leaning forward on the couch and resting his elbows on his knees. his dark eyes were locked on you, dragging down the line of your waist and the curve of your ass. you felt hot all of a sudden, watching him watch you. you averted your eyes and cleared your throat, moving towards the coffee table in the middle of the living room and kneeling in front of it. it was the only thing that was separating you from him but with the way he was leaning over it to get closer to you, it wasn’t that much of a distance. “these are all of their records so far. the earlier five were recorded with their original lead Bon. he passed away in the early 80s and the band then found Brian and have since released four other albums. he was the only vocalist they could find that was the closest to Bon’s sound.” you looked up from the tapes to see eddie grinning at you.
“sorry i’m rambling” you muttered, sitting back on your heels and watching as he looked over the tapes laid out on the table. “it’s cute. i like that you’re so invested in this” he said, tucking his hair behind his ears. “it’s pretty much the background of my childhood. i heard it every day. dad loved it and so does my uncle. they’ve been a part of my life since the day i was born pretty much.” eddie smiled and reached into the pocket of his leather jacket, pulling out the tape you gave him. “which one was your favourite?” you asked, reaching over to take it from him and sliding it in line with the others. he chuckled and flipped the tape over to show you the red circle around you shook me all night long and you chuckled to yourself. “what’s with you and the songs filled with the most innuendos munson?” you said, taking the tape off the counter and getting up, moving towards the speaker on your kitchen counter. “they’re always the best ones sweetheart. the ones that hype me up the most” he said and you could hear the smirk in his voice. there was a part of you, deep down, that was hoping he would be choosing those songs to send you some sort of message.
you placed the cassette in the player and skipped to the track that eddie had circled. you spun, a flutter of butterflies in your stomach as you faced the metal head on your couch. “that was the only reason?” you asked, sauntering over to the coffee table and perching on the end of it. you heard brian's voice play throughout the room, the lyrics to the song egging you on as you leant a little towards eddie. a shit eating grin spread across his face and you couldn’t help the goosebumps that arose on your skin at the sight. “what exactly are you implying here y/n?” he asked, his tongue darting out to swipe across his bottom lip. you bit your own, the sudden intrusive thought of what his tongue would feel like on yours passed through your head. you wanted to know what he tasted like. what he would feel like when he pressed his weight on you. how his hands would feel on your skin. “i don’t know. were you implying something when you chose those songs?” she told me to come but i was already there. eddie smirked at you as that line played through the trailer. “maybe i was, maybe i wasn’t. did you want me to be?” he asked, leaning even closer to you, your faces mere inches apart.
all confidence left your body. you thought you had control of the situation, inviting him over with the full intent to instigate something. yet here you sat, nerves running wild as you tried to think of something to say to eddie. “i, uh- uhm, i don’t know” you stumbled over your words, not being able to look away from his face but trying so hard to do so. his large, brown eyes kept staring into yours and you couldn’t stop from staring right back. “sweetheart, if you want something from me, all you have to do is ask” he said as he scooted towards you, reaching out a hand to place it on your exposed thigh. his calloused hand continued to slide up your leg and began toying with the hem of your shorts. goosebumps riddled your skin as his fingers rubbed circles up and down your leg. you hummed to yourself and moved sideways so that you were sitting on the table directly in front of eddie. he reached his other hand up to your other thigh and tugged, trying to pull you closer to him.
“so?” he asked. you could barely even think about a response let alone make one but you opened your mouth anyway and the words fell out. “wanna taste you.” eddie chuckled, leaning in further. “yeah? which part of me?” made a meal outta me, and come back for more. “a-all of you” you said, eyes darting down to his lips and slowly grazing over the rest of his body. drinking in the veins of his hands and the way his skinny jeans hugged his lower half perfectly.
he let out a low, animalistic grunt and tugged you off the coffee table until you were planted in his lap. my mind was aching and we were making it. his head was tilted back to look up at you, lips ghosting over each other as you lowered yourself into his lap fully. eddie hummed and moved his hands from your thighs to wrap them around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest. the thin material of the basketball shorts you were wearing did nothing to hide how turned on the both of you were. you whined a little at the feeling of him underneath you, grinding down ever so slightly and pulling a simultaneous whimper out of the both of you. “been hard since i got here honey. thought of bein’ alone with you tonight got me so riled up. could barely hold myself together on the way here.” eddie was mumbling into your skin as he pressed his face into your neck, dragging his nose along your jaw to breathe you in. his lips brushed against your throat and you gasped, arching into him at the sensation.
it felt pathetic really, that a touch so soft and innocent had you melting into a puddle on his lap. you could feel him smiling against your skin as you tangled your fingers in his hair and pulled. his head jolted back and he looked up at you with a sly smirk before leaning forward and pressing a harsh kiss to your lips. it was hot. all teeth and tongue as your spit mingles together. the grinding of your hips had become more consistent as eddie slid his hands over your ass to guide your movements.
you had to pull away to breathe and as you did so eddie immediately moved to suck at the soft skin just under your jaw. you were panting, trying so hard to catch your breath whilst he was doing everything to take it away. you shifted in his lap and felt his cock press right into your groin. eddie let out a low moan into your skin and you felt his teeth nip at you ever so slightly. “eds.” the word came out airy, like a whisper. “want to– need to–” you couldn’t form a sentence. weren’t exactly sure how to word it really. you wanted him in your mouth so bad but you didn’t know how to ask. eddie was humming along to the song, shocked that all of this had happened so quickly and it was still playing in the background.
you moved your body away from his carefully, sliding back on his legs so you were sitting over his knees. a worried look crossed the boys face as his hands slid to the tops of your thighs. “are you okay? do you want to stop? what’s wrong?” he asked, brows furrowed together in a mixture of confusion and concern. you smiled at him and did your best to slide of his lap and onto the floor in front of him. you managed, without falling backwards into the coffee table and making a fool of yourself in such a heated moment. kneeling between his spread legs, you looked up to meet his gaze. “y/n. you–” he was cut off by his sharp intake of breath when you dragged your hands up the front of his jeans. “said i wanted to taste all of you eds. meant it too” you spoke softly, eyes flicking down to where your hands were placed just above the waistband of his jeans – fingertips gliding softly at the skin of his stomach just under his shirt.
he was breathing heavy now, eyes locked on you as you dragged your nails across his skin. eddie sucked in a breath and you smiled a little. the power you were holding over him in this moment had your nerves vibrating, your whole body fizzing with excitement. you hadn’t had any control of the situation from the moment that eddie walked in the door, but now that you were on your knees in front of him and touching him with such delicacy – all the ropes were in your hands. you moved your hands down his pants, slowly popping open the button and dragging the zipper down. eddie lifted his hips with your movements, trying to get some sort of friction from your hands. “sweetheart. if you want something from me, all you have to do is ask” you said, mimicking his words from earlier. eddie laughed lightly but it was soon cut off by a hiss through his teeth as you snapped the waistband of his exposed boxers against his hip. “i need you to tell me eds. need to hear it in words.” "fuck," he breathes unsteadily and you can see how tense he is as he tries to restrain himself. the muscles at the line of his hips spasming as he tries not to buck up into your touch. "need you to touch me, sweetheart," he almost whimpers. "need to feel that mouth of yours, please." the please has you drooling. the knowledge that he’s begging you for it. that he wants it as badly as you do has every part of your body hot.
you grip the waistband of both his jeans and his boxers and tug, eddie lifts his hips as you do, although it takes almost all your strength to pull them down to even his knees. his cock lay heavy on his thigh, the tip almost purple from straining against his tight jeans. you couldn’t help but stare, running your hands up his bare thighs and causing his hips to jump. “it’s so pretty, eddie” you whisper as you reached for him, taking him in your hand and squeezing lightly. “sweetheart” he grunted out, shuffling forward a little more so he was perched on the end of the couch. he hunched over you, long curls falling to the sides of his face. they seemed to envelop you, caging you off from the rest of the world. you smiled up at him and pressed a swift kiss to his swollen lips before bending down again and taking him into your mouth. you hummed around him as the salty taste of precum landed on your tongue and eddie moaned loud at the feeling. you looked up to see his head thrown back, slender neck on display.
slowly you began to suction and hollow out your cheeks, taking him in little by little, your hand working at the space you couldn’t fit in your mouth, pumping back and forth. you were already gagging a little around him as he hit the back of your throat, but you didn’t care. the weight of him heavy on your tongue and the lewd sounds he was letting out as you bobbed up and down were making it all the more worth it. “huh-, god, fuuck…” eddie had placed his hands on the back of your head, gently pushing you further down his cock as your spit dribbled onto his crotch, dampening the unruly curls at his base. he was trying so hard to open his eyes to look down at you and when he finally managed to do so, he found you already staring intently up at him. your mouth full of him, lips swollen and cheeks red as you worked your mouth down him. “so fucking good, sweetheart, you’re so fucking good. been thinking about this from the moment i saw you. been jacking off to the thought of you since you arrived.” you hummed around him at the thought of that, arousal growing more intense as you reached down to touch yourself through your shorts, hoping for some sort of relief.
he shudders, his chest moving up and down in rhythm with your head and hand. “you touching yourself honey? getting off to the feeling of me in your mouth yeah? so dirty. so, so-” he’s rambling and bucking up into your mouth, practically fucking your throat at this point. all you can do is nod at his words, tears spilling from the corners of your eyes as they mix with everything else that had spread across your cheeks. your moans were blissful vibrations around his throbbing cock which only made his own louder. “o-oh, shit, you feel so fucking amazing, so fucking good….shit, baby, you’re so fucking good - god i fuckin’ love this.” his hands make you go faster, choking you more on his dick as your nose begins to rub against the matted curls at his base, his musky scent filling your nose. your gags were going straight to his head and it spurs him on even more.
he was rambling uncontrobbly now, words spilling out of his mouth as frequently as the delicious moans, “holy shit, sweetheart, y-yeah, hmm, fuck just like that,” he’s muttering for you to go faster, thumb wiping away at your tears as he whines, keening loudly as he feels his release quickly about to come, “yeah baby, fuck! shit, you’re doing amazing. taking me so well. oh god, I’m gonna cum. you’re gonna make me cum honey…is it okay if i- fuck - if i cum? please, fuck, y-you okay with that?” you’re trying your best to nod, humming around him to indicate that it’s okay. that you want it.
it’s what sends him over the edge in the end. hot, white spurts of cum running down your throat as he pushes your head down, your salvia covering your own hand as you try your best to swallow everything that he has to offer. eddie stopped writhing and you noticed the muscles in his stomach unclench as his breathing slowed again. “holy fucking shit” he said, pushing his hair away from his forehead as you pulled your mouth off him with a wet pop. you let go of his now, softening cock and reached to wipe the dribble from the side of your mouth. eddie beat you to it, catching your spit and a little of his own cum onto his thumb. he stared deeply into your eyes as he put his thumb to his own lips and sucked it clean.
blushing heavy, you stood up and rubbed at your achy knees as eddie shucked his boxers back up over his lower half. the tape moved well into the next song by now and the loud guitar filled your ears as you and eddie stared at each other in silence. his hands were on your thighs, pushing up under your shorts tentatively, as if to ask if it was okay. like you didn’t just have his cock in your mouth. like you weren’t touching yourself whilst doing so. “think it’s your turn now sweetheart.”

Bakugou Meets his Future Kids
Hiya! Long time no see! So I’ve been gone a while and today I was actually supposed to post the last part in the Aizawa mini series. That wont happen today because unfortunately even though me and my whole family have been super safe and only go to work and home I did test positive for Covid-19. I'm okay though just really drained and this was easier for me to finish. I'm hoping to have the Christmas fic up by the 28th at the latest, so sorry about that! For now I hope you can enjoy this! The kids do call reader mommy but there is no assigned gender! Anyone, any gender can be a mom!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Bakugou Katsuki x Reader
He meets his kids from the future in a troubling way
Words: 1896
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was supposed to be a normal day and it was for about 10 seconds. About 11 seconds in Bakugou had somehow been wrapped into a trip to the mall with most of the class. Bakugou prided himself on being a strong immovable boulder but when you asked could he come… lets say he had a temporary weakness. Now here he was at the food court as you all argued over what to eat.
“Is there a place that sells soba?” Todoroki asked.
“Even if there is, we aren't eating there! You always eat that!” Mina said, pointing at the boy who looked back a little deflated.
“I think we’ll be okay getting soba, his obsession with soba is super cute!” you said with a small laugh. This had Bakugou craning his neck. Only ever eating one thing was not cute, how could you think that!
“Like hell we are, Come on Y/n were getting a burger.” Bakugou said standing and pulling you away you didn't get far before you all heard someone crying and yelling. You and the rest of the class looked at each other once before you dashed in the direction of the cries. Arriving on the scene you see 3 kids surrounding a boy who was crying while one was holding back a girl who seemed to be crying in anger.
“Hey what the hell is going on here?” Kirishima said in a scolding tone. The kids turn around and pale probably recognizing the group of soon to be Pro-Heroes.
“Nothing we should be going, later losers.” The kids said quickly scattering into the crowds at the mall. The girl quickly ran to the boy's side still crying.
“It's alright, you don't have to cry, I have a first aid kit if that helps.” You said trying to console the kids. At your voice both of the kids looked up at you before tackling you in a crushing hug, sobbing even more. You looked up at your class confused; they only shrugged at you.
“Mommy! I'm sorry, I took Hiroyuki from school and we followed you and then we got hit with that big scary guy's quirk and then we ended up here and we been here for like 2 days. I'm sorry!!” The girl cried, rubbing her eyes furiously.
“Uh um sweetheart, I'm sorry you got lost but my teachers will help you. We’ll find your parents I promise.” You said rubbing her checks.
“But you're our mommy.” The young girl sniffled.
“I'm not, you must be confused. I'm L/n.” You said, smiling at them as they seemed to tear up.
“That's not funny mommy, stop joking right now.” The girl said, shaking her head, more tears spilling from her eyes.
“Sorry kid they aren't joking, L/n doesn't have any kids.” Denki said, crouching to meet her eyes.
“Are you mad cause we didn't listen? Are you gonna send us away?” The girl said, beginning to cry even more.
“Stop making my sister cry!!” The boy said with tears in his eyes, the tears were short lived as explosion went off all around them. Everyone looked at Bakugou who was quietly watching
“It's not me, it's one of them.” He said with his teeth gritted. The class didn't have time to figure it out as the explosion stopped and they saw their teacher next to them.
“It’s always something with you guys. Hey kids I'm gonna need you to come with me so we can sort this out.” He said offering his hands to them which they didn't hesitate to take. The walk back to the school was relatively short and quiet. Now they were all sitting outside of recovery girls office waiting on some kind of news.
“I think i know what's happened. They kept calling you mom, right?” You nodded at her with a small smile.
“Well while I was trying to heal them I asked them some questions to make sure their heads were on straight. Their answers were very much incorrect to us but also not completely insane. For Example Dynamight, Deku, and Shoto are all top 10 heroes. The league of villains are no more and I'm dead. I examined their bodies and it seems they were hit with a time travel quirk from the looks of it. Not sure when it will wear off but my best recommendation is for them to remain under L/n and Easerheads care, I will check for any signs of it wearing off, every other day.”
“Huh? Is Easerhead their dad! Do you and L/n get married in the future?! That's kind of kinky…” Mineta said with a gross smile
“No, you creepy child. It seems they do like him though.” Recovery girl said with a sigh. You thanked her and went into the room.
“Hey, did recovery girl explain what happened to you guys?” You said as you approached them.
“Uh huh she said we went in the past to where you and papa were students. Like in the pictures on the walls.” The girl said.
“Mhm very good, so can you tell me your names? Then we can go hang out with my friends and eat something!” You said with a smile.
“Hiroyuki…” the boy mumbled.
“I’m Kaori!” The young girl cheered at you. You thanked them and guided you out the door and found your friends and teacher waiting. You led them to the dorm lunge where food was waiting on them.
“So which one of you have an explosion quirk?” Kirishima said as the kids were eating.
“We both do, kind of.” The girl said absentmindedly. “Mom says I make explosions from the heat of the food I eat, I like spicy stuff.” She said with a smile.
“Oh okay cool! But no spicy stuff for you.” Denki laughed at the girl who wasn't exactly happy.
“What about you, little guy?” Sero asked the younger one. The little boy looked at Sero before burying his face in his hands and shaking his head.
“Yuki, has a really cool quirk! Mom says he works like a gas stove! He leaks this stuff that's like propane! Then he can ignite it based on how he is feeling! Angry or emotional means bigger explosions! It comes from his pores or his hand.” The girl chimed in for her brother. He was upset at her words and ran to Aizawa.
“Sorry, we didn't mean to make you uncomfortable!” Mina said as she couched to the level of the boy who further hid his face into Aizawa legs.
“It's okay, kid, Bakugou has an explosive quirk, it's cool!” Denki said with his flashy smile.
“We don't care about that old man's quirk!” The girl said fresh tears on his face.
“What’d you say you little brat?! I’m not an old man!” Bakugou roared back to Kaori.
“You are a mean old man and I hate you! Its all your fault I'm stuck here without my real mom and papa! I hate you! I hate you so much Papa!” The little girl roared back before running back to you crying.
“Papa?” Kirishima echoed quietly.
“Kaori, you shouldn't yell at people or tell them you hate them it's a mean and strong word.” You said crouching down to her level and stroking her cheek.
“B-but it's all his fault. He said me and Hiroyuki were weak and and we couldn't do much because we're kids and it's best for us to stay out of Hero’s way! Like were burdens!” She said growing further agitated.
“And I was right, you followed your mom and you both got hurt when you shouldn't have been near the battle anyway.” He said with a frown.
“But that doesn't mean we are useless and can't do anything by ourselves! WE ARENT DUMB!” She yelled back at him.
“Future me didn't say you were dumb, he, I just want you to be safe. It's best for you and your brother to stay out of the way for now. However, that doesn't mean your a burden or dumb.” Bakugou said seriously. The little girl didn't say anything further and just threw herself into her your arms. Hiroyuki came from in between Aizawa’s legs and also threw himself at you.
“Okay enough mingling for today I guess, time for bed! I’ll be right back guys.” You said as you carried both kids off to your dorms with surprising grace. Once you were gone the group turned to Bakugou.
“Papa, huh Bakugou?!” Denki said with a chuckle.
“It's too surprising! I didn't even know you had a crush on L/N!” Mina said with a pout.
“Really? it was pretty obvious Bakubro had a crush though. Literal tiny explosions go whenever L/n is near.” Kirishima said with a cute head tilt.
“The hell they do.” Bakugou said angrily.
“No they do, I’ve had to stop them a few times now.” Aizawa said with his weird grin.
“I can't believe it though, they are so cute! Kaori is so much like you and I cant believe Hiroyuki’s quirk is so kickass!” Sero said rubbing the back of there necks.
“Well of course they got kickass quirks. With me and L/N as parents there’s no way they wouldn't!” Bakugou said flushed red.
“I'm just glad you cleared up everything with them. It would be pretty bad if they went back mad at the future you, or thinking something damaging like that.” Deku said with a sigh. Finally you were back with no kids, at least it looked like you didn’t have kids.
“So this parenting shit is pretty hard!!” You said as two figures came from behind your legs. They blushed before pointing to Bakugou and then back at your dorm.
“Use your words.” Bakugou said, cocking an eyebrow at the flustered kids.
“Story, Papa.” Hiroyuki slurred out.
“I'm sorry for saying I hate you… I didn't mean it.” The young girl said softly
“You better be, that's a strong word. Now let's go to bed.” Bakugou said nonchalantly as he picked up both kids and walked back to your dorm. The kids remained with you two for about a week and half. You learned lots like you and Bakugou have twins on the way and still want at least one more. Hiroyuki loves Aizawa because he is able to keep his quirk under control around him and they both have an addiction to cats. Bakugou is indeed amazing at everything except anger management. When they left it was during one of your cuddle sessions and boy did you cry like a baby.

“It’s been almost 2 weeks, where could they be?? What if they’re…” You said into Bakugou's chest.
“They’re fine, okay? Our brats are tough so wherever they ended up in time doesn't matter they’ll kick anyone's ass.” Bakugou said, trying to console you. You didn't get a chance to respond before you dogs went crazy at the knock at the door. You yelled for however it was to come in and you thought your mind was playing tricks on you.
“Don't worry they are just drowsy.” Aizawa said with the two kids in his capture weapon trailing behind him. Bakugou was the first to move and was on his knees, in tears in seconds.
“You idiots! Never, ever do that again.” He said hugging him like his life depended on it.

What am I doing here?
Unfortunately, there is no one else to blame but herself for being left without plans on this Friday night. Regretfully so, she instead finds herself alone on the upper level of the business building. Scratch that, the whole building, probably – she’s been here since four, and the few students that were once alongside her left hours ago. Initially here to work on an essay, she now occupies her time bouncing between YouTube, Twitch, and Crunchyroll, watching whatever she is feeling at the moment despite Monday’s deadline looming over her.
Sighing, she looks away from a boring page of YouTube recommendations, stretches her neck, and reaches for her hot chocolate. Well, not hot anymore, she realizes with a wince after taking a sip, struggling to swallow the now cold drink. Gaze flicking to the time on the corner of her laptop, she frowns. 9:43. She considers walking home once it hits ten, the unstirred silence of the building starting to prick up her spine like needles. Home, she thinks with an amused exhale from her nose. A too small, overheated double dorm room that technically is a single now that her roommate has gone online for the rest of the semester. Home.
She wonders, briefly, if anyone were to miss her if she were to go home home. If anyone would even notice, anyway.
She wouldn’t expect them to, honestly. It’s not as if she goes out of her way to hang out with anyone, usually opting to cozy up in her room and pretend she does not see the groupchat blowing up with plans to meet at the dining hall, a study session at the library, a trip to the mall. She loves her friends, really, but can rarely find it in herself to actually participate in said friend activities. Sure, there are some nights she actually leaves the confines of her room to join them, but to be quite frank, she’s glad they have learned to simply stop inviting her. Makes the whole looking for an excuse problem a lot easier.
Besides, who would want to go out on a night like this, anyway?
Just as she has flipped to page fifty-three of The Old Man and the Sea, she looks away in boredom, instead opting to gaze out the window. Focusing past her reflection on the tall glass pane, a warm feeling she can only describe as peace seems to settle over her, watching the snow fall like moonlit glitter across campus. The snowstorm had started light when she first arrived, soft enough she could manage with her hood down, dotting her with only miniature droplets of water. Now, though, the flakes are so large she can focus on one at a time as they fly past, covering the ground with a solid two or three inches at this point. In the distance, she can spot snowplows making their rounds to clear the pathways, the route to the business building already turned slushy blue as salt melts the continuous snow.
She sighs, eyes wide like a child as she represses the urge to go outside and grab a handful of it, maybe fall onto one of the lawns and make a snow angel, stick her tongue out and try to catch one of the large flakes. Tomorrow, maybe, she thinks, looking at her grey sweatpants and deciding walking back with soaked pants in this weather would not be the best idea.
So late into March, she cannot help but chuckle at the number of students complaining about the snow and cold temperature on SnapChat, even her friends having to change their plans. She, on the other hand, finds such last chance snowstorm beautiful; sure, she was ready for spring and eventually a break from school, but watching the snow dancing under the streetlights, choreographed by the gentle wind, she thinks it’s something to hold on to, keep her grounded to reality that albeit the stress and monotony of college, such moments like these still exist.
She jumps at the sound of the front entrance slamming closed.
Who the hell? She frowns, annoyed at whoever decided now was a good time to come inside, subsequently ruining her little moment of serenity. Turning red at the thought of some raunchy couple thinking to spice things up in the presumably empty building, she considers packing her bag and heading out. But no matter which exit, they would still see her, and that would be painstakingly awkward. Maybe she could escape into one of the smaller reservation rooms, or at least make some exaggerated noise so they at least know they’re not alone.
Could just be a janitor, or maybe someone else deciding to shelter somewhere other than their dorm to buckle down and do some work, she thinks. No matter who it is and what their intentions are, her leg is already bouncing a mile a minute having gotten used to having the space to herself.
So caught up on how or when she should take her leave, she does not hear the footsteps coming up the stairs until they’re right behind her. Tensing up, she watches in the window’s reflection as the business building’s second occupant steps up onto the platform and… heads towards her. Panic setting in, she tries to decipher who it is through the blurry reflection but to no avail, heart racing at the thought of a stranger approaching her, one of her friends finding her here on a Friday night, a janitor going to ask her to leave.
She turns her head as soon as they stop beside her.
“Hyunjin?” She blurts, taken aback. This was the last person she expected to be here. Somewhat relieved but heart still beating in her throat, she blinks up at the tall boy to make sure it’s really him, brows furrowed in confusion. “What are you doing here?”
“I should be asking you the same thing,” he returns, pulling his mask down below his chin and smiling cheekily at her. “I went to go pick up my food and saw you in the window,” Hyunjin explains, tugging the beanie off his head and shaking his hair out, showering her in the tiny droplets. Wrinkling her nose, she takes notice of the Chipotle bag in his hand and how soaked his coat is.
“Here,” she offers, reaching for the bag. Passing it to her with a grateful smile, Hyunjin unzips his coat and sets it over a chair beside her alongside his beanie, wipes the melted snow and sweat from his eyes, and tries to fix his now mused bangs. “So, what are you doing here?” He asks while doing this, regarding her with an amused glint in his eyes.
“Work,” she sighs. Then, glancing to the screen of her laptop and realizing it’s still the home page of YouTube, she grimaces. “Trying to do work. Not really. Just watching the snow.”
“It’s a lot prettier when you’re inside,” Hyunjin comments, following her gaze to watch the frenzy of snow before taking the bag from her and offering a quiet thanks. “But I meant more why are you here?”
She isn’t quite sure what her relationship with Hyunjin is. Having been one of the many acquaintances she barely made at freshman orientation, he did not seem like the kind of person she expected to still be in her life. She wouldn’t exactly say they were close, but she considers Hyunjin a friend, she thinks. After a good month or two forgetting he existed, she randomly bumped into him at the dining hall, recognizing that unfairly attractive face of his in line for chicken nuggets and immediately falling into conversation. Turns out, he was mutual friends with her lab partner, Kim Seungmin.
She does not see Hyunjin as much as she wishes she did. She had not shared any classes with him in the past three years, and even if her friend group and his overlapped in the slightest, it was not always a given that they both would be able to hang out as much as their closer friends do. Still, there always seems to be a random occasion, such as now, where they bump into one another. Each time is a pleasant surprise, of course, and not just because of his pretty face and wide shoulders, but because he has always seemed to care for her in a way no one else does, and that in itself is enough to have her heart racing every time he comes close.
Not that she has a crush on him or anything, but it definitely is hard trying not to fall in love every time he even so much as smiles at her.
Face heating up in embarrassment at his question, she avoids looking him in the eyes and randomly minimizes the Chrome tab on her laptop. “You know,” she drones on, “just taking it easy for the night.”
Hyunjin hums in agreement, opening the lid of his burrito bowl and stabbing a fork into the layers. Even her mouth waters. “I feel like I never see you,” he contemplates, finally taking a bite. His words surprise her. “Uh, yeah,” she coughs, forcing herself to look away before she gets too enraptured over how beautiful he looks even after trekking through a snowstorm, long hair messy but falling over his face in a way that has her fingers twitching to tuck away. “I usually don’t go out with everyone. Not my scene.”
“Aw,” he coos, “I get that. Sometimes I’m the same way, I just want to relax on the weekends after working so much all week.”
Thank you!, she almost shouts, but bites her tongue. She agrees, but even she does not know why she can’t find it in herself to go out and party with everyone else. She’s just lazy, to put it simply. Nevertheless, his words put her at ease, no longer worried that he might think she’s a loser for staying in every weekend.
“Exactly,” she agrees, “parties are fun, sometimes. But I just prefer laying low. I don’t think my friends like that, though.”
Gaze finding his, her heart does somersaults at the smile he offers. “Nah,” Hyunjin says, confident, “no one thinks that. Everyone has their way of having fun. Honestly, all I’ve ever heard is your friends complaining how they miss you and that you would make going out more fun since you’re so funny.”
“Which is true, by the way,” he adds.
She feels as if she is going to combust. “Oh,” she croaks, throat dry, “um, thank you. That’s sweet of them. And you. I guess I didn’t consider that they miss me when they go out.”
Hyunjin scoffs, raising a brow but finishes chewing before speaking again. “Are you nuts? You’re so fun to be around, of course they’re going to miss you.”
“Okay, stop that,” she laughs, burning from the inside out at his compliments. “Just being honest,” he laughs, opening the bag of his tortilla chips. “Want any?”
She looks at him with wide eyes. “Are you sure?”
“I wouldn’t have offered if I wasn’t sure.”
“Okay,” she huffs out an airy laugh, rolling her chair closer to his. Miscalculating that he was going to move, too, she quite literally feels her blood pressure skyrocket as her knees bump into his. And he doesn’t move. “Here,” moving the bag closer to the edge of the table, Hyunjin glances at her for only a split second before focusing on his bowl again.
Reaching into the bag, she feels emboldened not only by his previous flattery, but his proximity as well, and scrambles to continue the conversation. “Why are you eating Chipotle so late?”
“Pre-birthday celebration. Also, DoorDash took forever,” Hyunjin laughs.
“When’s your birthday?” She asks, munching on a chip.
“In,” he pauses, tapping his phone, “two hours.”
Oh. “What?” She gasps, blinking at him. “What? Why aren’t you out? It’s your birthday weekend and you’re here eating Chipotle?”
“Woah, okay Miss I-Prefer-Laying-Low. Maybe I wanted to chill tonight, since tomorrow I’m going out? Hm?” Hyunjin chuckles at her scowl, pursing his lips. “Okay, yeah, I guess but—”
“No but’s,” he interrupts, the amused glint in his eyes disappearing, “I’m here now, and that’s what matters, right? I’m lucky I saw you in the window.”
“I guess,” she mutters, realizing her heart has not stopped its staccato frenzy since moving closer, “you scared me, by the way. I’ve been here alone for hours and suddenly someone is walking up to me, I think I shit my pants.”
Hyunjin bellows out a laugh, and such an airy sound momentarily leaves her awestruck. Oh, god, she’s in deep. It’s over.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he giggles, battling her hand to reach for a chip. Even the touch of his long fingers against hers has the entire butterfly population roaring to life in her gut. “Look, I made up for it by gifting you chips.”
“True,” she hums, licking residue salt off her fingers before leaning back in her chair to catch a breather. Too much physical contact and emotion for one night.
“What are you doing next weekend?” Hyunjin asks, taking her by surprise. Again. She thinks she is going to faint if she isn’t able to wrap herself around him within the next fifteen seconds.
“Um,” she starts, then remembers her previous idea of going home after this week was over. “I was probably going to go home next Friday.”
“Oh,” is all Hyunjin says, seemingly disappointed. “Why?”
She grits her teeth. Why? Really? “I don’t know,” she shrugs, not even convinced herself, “I’m bored and lonely here. I love everyone here but I miss my friends at home. I might as well be slightly less bored at home.” Hyunjin frowns.
“Okay, what about this,” he starts, leaning close enough she can count his individual eyelashes and nearly smell the flavor of his lip balm, “you go out with us tomorrow night and if you have fun, you hang out with us next weekend, too. Oh, and whenever you want some company, you text me and we’ll come here or somewhere else and do homework together or just chill. How does that sound?”
All she can do is blink at him. Her initial thought is how dare he try negotiating whether I go home or not? But, there it is, again, she realizes. That extra step he takes, the genuine care he shows her, acting like her well-being is his responsibility. “You don’t have to do that, Hyunjin. I don’t want to bother you every time I feel lonely. I’ll be fine.”
“Christ, you’re dense,” rolling his eyes, Hyunjin sets his fork down, wipes his hands on his thighs, and suddenly leans in to hold her face with both hands, “I wouldn’t offer to sit around and do homework with you when you’re in need of a friend if I didn’t want to.”
Her heart is racing so fast she fears he may be able to hear the thud of it against her chest. What he’s saying is starting to sound a lot more than some friend-to-friend comfort, and it’s making her head hurt, especially with his thumbs ever so slightly swiping against her cheeks. At her silence, he starts again.
“Y/N,” he says, voice dropping an octave, “don’t go home. This is your home, too, you just don’t want it to be.”
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she thinks she is going to say something, but nothing comes out. There is nothing to say. Hyunjin is right, he has read her like an open book, and he’s here to offer his shoulder to lean on. “Okay,” she whispers, “I’ll go out with everyone tomorrow. And I’ll try and stay here for the rest of the semester.”
“That’s my girl,” Hyunjin smiles, leaning closer and pressing a featherlight kiss to her lips. At first, it takes her by surprise. But then it all starts to make sense. The snow makes sense. Her essay makes sense. Being here makes sense. Hyunjin makes sense. His birthday makes sense. She makes sense.
Outside the glass windows, the wind starts to howl, blowing the composed ballet of snow to its final act, covering the pathways and the streetlights and the roof of the business building in perfect white glitter. Inside these windows, she realizes they would notice if she were to go home.
Why would she ever do that when her second home is right here in front of her?

The sun had set. The day was over, but that doesn’t mean the situation is. You and Buck had been wading through the water for hours, heading to the last place someone said they saw Christopher.
Exhaustion was starting to settle in. You were sore all over too. It felt like you just finished running up and down a flight of stairs non-stop while carrying a bookbag full of weights. Your shoulders hurt, your legs felt like they were going to give out any time soon, and your body was so dehydrated from soaking up and drinking in a lot of saltwater that you pretty much felt delirious.
Finally, civilization was within reach.
A makeshift help spot was set up near the bakery where you and Buck were headed. Water bottles were being passed out and you reached out to grab one. How could something so common look so precious, like it was made of gold?
You twisted off the cap and downed half of it in three big gulps and handed the rest of it to Buck. He finished off the water, nearly gasping for breath by the end. He was exhausted too. You didn’t even know how long you two were walking and the little help was most appreciated.
The people around you looked worse for wear. You couldn’t imagine the struggles they went through to try and save themselves or what their story could be. You were sure it was similar. Everyone lost someone or something in the tsunami and you knew it was going to be hard to get over that.
Then again, did you really want to?
The whole event gave you a new outlook on life and appreciate what you have. You didn’t appreciate your job enough, but you were grateful now. You were a school nurse and you realized you love those kids that you looked after. You loved Christopher, having seen him and checked on him many times thanks to his worrisome father, and it would break your heart to never see that little boy again.
Now is not the time to think about those things. You didn’t know for sure. Let’s not focus on the what ifs.
For a moment, Buck swore he saw Christopher. He saw a little boy clinging to the leg of some woman, and he let out a relieved sigh, only for his eyes to play tricks on him. It wasn’t Christopher at all.
“Mister, are you okay? You’re bleeding,” a nearby passerby said, and Buck glanced down at his hand.
Sure enough, he was.
There was a cut of some kind, and the two of you didn’t even realize it. You frowned, mentally kicking yourself and cursing yourself out for not realizing Buck’s injury. The ex-firefighter sat down, looking worse for wear and you grabbed his hand carefully while examining it.
You ripped off a strip of your shirt to use as a bandage and Buck’s eyes sort of glazed over. Due to his adrenaline, he probably wasn’t feeling any pain.
“What am I gonna do?” Buck whispered as you tended to him, “how am I gonna tell Eddie?”
You said nothing, because you knew whatever you did say wouldn’t exactly be helpful. However, you were there. Side by side, you were there with Buck and Christopher today and everything Buck did was for that little boy. You never seen someone care so much the way Buck does. He has such a good heart and for once, you were hoping against hope that things would work out in his favor. He didn’t deserve this.
After a bit of a break, including some water to get both of your heads on straight, you two were back to the grind. This time, you didn’t have to walk for long.
There was an old mall or hospital, you couldn’t be sure, that somehow turned into a makeshift triage center not too far from where you and Buck were. The two of you practically dashed over to the building and its tents, being careful since there wasn’t a lot of strength left between you.
Buck was looking in the beds, glancing around for anyone that even remotely passed Christopher. You hijacked a few clipboards, searching for Christopher’s name anywhere you can but you both came up empty.
“Eddie dropped Christopher off with me,” Buck began talking to you and you could hear the defeat in his voice. It sounded like he was fighting the feeling of giving up, but he was on the cusp. “He thought it would get me out of my apartment and… out of my head. And you know what I did? I brought him to the pier. I had him, I kept him safe. And then the three of us were on top of the ladder truck and the water receded, and for a moment I felt like I got this. I had you, I had Christopher, and we would be fine. And now Christopher is gone. We checked everywhere. And now I realize I failed. I’m a failure no matter how you look at it.”
You could hear your heart cracking as you listened to him, and you knew nothing you said would change his mind. He was beating himself up over this situation. He did everything he could, and he was still handed the short end of the stick.
Finding Christopher at the makeshift hospital was the last bit of hope he had and now it was gone. You could see the defeat that wavered in his voice and how it hid behind his eyes.
And if that didn’t help the situation, there was Eddie Diaz, tending to a few patients himself. He wore blue latex gloves, had the navy fire uniform on, and was directing a few people into the hospital. Buck nearly choked back a sob as the realization of what to do next was hitting him faster than a wall of bricks.
He had to tell Eddie, and you were going to be right by his side when he did.
However, Buck dashed behind a white tent, pulling you along with him. Turns out he wanted to hide instead of face Christopher’s father.
“Buck,” you said slowly. Your voice was hoarse from lack of water and from shouting Christopher’s name all afternoon with Buck. You felt like your vocal cords were ripped to shreds at this point, but you soldiered on. Now was not the time to accept defeat. “You have to tell him.”
“How?” Buck answered as he looked at you. His hand slowly slipped into your own, and you squeezed his fingers tightly. “How do you tell your best friend that you lost his son?”
“He’s his father. You have to tell him that Christopher is missing,” you said, knowing this was the only chance he had right now.
Buck shook his head, not wanting to hear it. “No, I need to keep looking for him. I need to find him.”
One of your hands instinctively went up to the side of Buck’s face, caressing him lightly. You still couldn’t believe the man in front of you wasn’t giving up just yet, even though maybe he should. You hated the train of thought you were currently on, but Buck was exhausted, and he lost some blood. Plus, it didn’t help that he was severely dehydrated, much like yourself. The two of you were in no condition to continue searching. You probably wouldn’t make it if you tried. You both needed to rest up and regain your strength.
“Buck,” you heard the voice before you saw who it belonged to and your head whipped around to see Eddie. The man was heading outside to continue helping and he looked a bit surprised to see his best friend standing there. Then his eyes fell on you, and the look of surprise seemed to double. “Nurse Y/N, what are you both doing here? Are you okay? Wait, where’s Christopher?”
There was no time to prepare a giant speech. Eddie Diaz was right there in front of you both, and it was now or never. You let go of Buck as you turned to face the father of one of your favorite patients, ready for what was about to happen. This was a conversation you were dreading, and you couldn’t imagine the internal conflicts Buck must be going through as he mustered up the courage to say what happened.
“Eddie…” Buck interjected in between Eddie’s many questions, and the army vet stopped talking.
For a moment, the two best friends stared at each other, like Buck was hoping Eddie would get the hint without saying anything, but you knew that would be the cowardly way out. If there was one thing you learned today, it was that Buck was not a coward. Not now, not ever.
“Me and Christopher… we were at the beach, and I swear to you…” Buck was choking on his words and you squeezed his hand again for support.
Eddie was nodding, trying to understand, but the look on his face was heartbreaking. It was like if he didn’t hear it, it wouldn’t be true.
“I tried… and I just… but I… Eddie, I just don’t know how to say it. Um, he… he um…” Buck couldn’t get through it. He was stumbling over the words and Eddie’s eyes were brimming with the threat of tears as Buck tried to get the words out.
What made it even worse was that Eddie couldn’t even look at Buck. The army vet was looking behind his best friend, like he needed to avoid eye contact with what Buck was saying.
“Christopher?” Eddie questioned softly, like he needed clearance on what Buck was saying, but your gaze followed Eddie’s. A woman had stepped off a truck, carrying a small child. Your heart almost stopped, and you pulled on Buck’s arm to get him to stop talking.
Eddie slowly walked past you and Buck, and he approached the woman. Slowly, Buck turned around to follow Eddie feeling like this was Eddie’s way of coping with denial.
“Christopher?” Eddie called again, and like music to your ears, you heard the little boy shout for his dad.
The woman was carrying Christopher the entire time, bringing him to safety. Tears exploding out of your eyes once you realized what was going on and you stole a glance at Buck. Buck looked elated, like he was about to cry from relief as well. Christopher was alive and in Eddie’s arms, and there was no greater feeling than that.
“Buck, what happened to you?”
Suddenly, the fire crew of Station 118 popped into view. You didn’t know them personally, but you could venture a guess who from all the stories Christopher was told you during his visits to your little office at the school.
Captain Bobby Nash stood in front of the two of you, and he looked deeply concerned. He looked back and forth from you to Buck before asking, “Are you two okay?”
However, your exhaustion was caving in, along with Buck’s. The two of you practically collapsed to the floor and the fire family scrambled to hold onto both of you. That was the last thing you remembered, passing out next to Buck in the arms of his old crew.
Tumblr media
It took a while, but the city was in clean up mode. You and Buck had a nice, extended stay at the hospital, hooked up to fluids and oxygen before given a clean bill of health. You were discharged first, since Buck had some lacerations that needed stitching up but the two of you texted nonstop while he regained his strength.
You went back to your job as the nurse at the elementary school, although you also became sort of a guidance counselor to the kids. Turns out, when you were checking for lice or fevers, they needed someone to talk to and you could just relate to them in a way. You were a familiar face in all the chaos, someone they needed to hold onto in order to make sense of things.
Christopher’s appointments never stopped either. In fact, they seemed to be increasing, only because Christopher wanted to talk to you and hang out with you.
“Honestly Eddie, he’s doing fine,” you spoke to Eddie on the phone about his son. You were sitting at your desk, making your daily calls to parents and Eddie Diaz was no stranger to the phone calls. “He’s in good spirits. Nothing is wrong with him, he’s pretty perfect.”
“You know, I never got to thank you,” Eddie’s voice crackled in your ear, “for what you did. Christopher told me how you and Buck saved him, and you have no idea how much I appreciate that.”
The two of you hung up, although there was promises of talking tomorrow. Talking to Eddie was a recurring thing in your life at this point, and you could use the stability.
“Knock knock,” a head peeked into your office, “these came for you.”
The secretary opened your door and placed a bouquet of colorful roses on you desk. There was a white card attached, looking strikingly clean in the middle of the rainbow of flowers.
You pulled off the card and it only said two words.
Come Outside.
Curiously, you stood up and grabbed your stethoscope, draping it around your neck. You never went anywhere without it now, and you weren’t sure what kind of situation you were getting yourself into. You rounded a corner and pushed open the heavy steel door that led to the front of the school. There, standing in all his glory, was Evan Buckley with the most beautiful smile you had ever seen.
“Thank you very much for the flowers,” you said as you smiled at him in return. “Why didn’t you tell me you were out of the hospital. I would’ve sent you some breakfast or something.”
“That’s part of the surprise. So, surprise!” Buck said happily as he approached you.
You just smiled at him, letting his arms snake around your waist as he hugged you tightly. Your arms draped around his neck and it felt so good. It felt familiar.
As you pulled away, you were greeted with something else. Buck, with no hesitation whatsoever, leaned in and captured your lips in a sudden and welcomed kiss. It was all you wanted, all you were waiting for, and you let yourself melt into his arms as he kissed you with such force and determination, you knew you would be a puddle of goo by the end of it.
“Let me take you out on a date,” Buck whispered against your lips, his lips brushing over yours with each and every word, “a real one this time. Just me and you.”
Your heart felt like it would leap out of your chest and you couldn’t manage to bring any words out. Instead, you nodded as you leaned in to kiss him again.
This was all you wanted. You’ve never been happier. You finally had the moment you wanted with Buck and now, a date on the horizon. With your luck, it would be the first of many, you were sure of it. There was no way you were going to let this man go, ever.

Reincarnations were a pesky business, really. Loki had been through it more than enough times to know. Unfortunately, his latest one didn’t go exactly as planned, and he’d ended up a kid. It wasn’t all bad, though, as now he had happy childhood memories. He still had the old, haunting ones too, but he no longer viewed youth with nearly so much disdain.
For the past number of years, he’d been living in the Tower with Tony, who he called his uncle but really was more of a father to him than Odin ever was. Thor dropped in fairly often too, and their brotherly bond seems to have benefitted from the little reset Loki went through.
Life on Midgard was different than Asgard, especially when he wasn’t being raised as royalty. Admittedly, he enjoyed the more laid-back life. He took walks in the parks, hung out with friends, went to the mall, and attended school just like everyone else. Ok, maybe not exactly like everyone else, considering he did still have thousands of years of knowledge.
Anyway, he was in his last year of high school, with only a few months left before graduation. Most of the people he knew were obsessing over their next step in the journey of life: college. Not him, though. For once, he was living for himself, and decided to take a gap year. College would still be there after. That is, if he wanted to go at all. Again, he did still have his old memories, so maybe he’d never even feel the need to. Maybe he could just travel the world helping others or work with Tony in the lab. Either way, he wasn’t in any particular rush to figure it out.
Loki was about to head into the renowned Tower he called home when he swore he heard sobbing coming from somewhere. He shoved his keycard back into his messenger bag and walked around the small campus to where he thought the sound was coming from. Stopping in front of some bushes, he saw the outline of a girl hunched up into herself through the leaves. The young god cleared his throat to alert her of his presence, which prompted her to quickly stop making noise. Though, he still could see her body convulsing from the now stifled sobs.
Sighing, he sat on the ground. “Hey, is everything alright back there?” No reply. Maybe it was more than just embarrassment stopping them. Maybe they also weren’t supposed to be here. He decided to try to lighten the mood with some playfulness. “You know, Tony doesn’t mind people being on the campus, but I gotta warn you, he’s kind of cheap with tissues he buys. I’m thinking of getting a handkerchief. What do you think? Is it possible to make me look any dorkier than I already do?”
That earned him a light chuckle. “You don’t look dorky at all. Like ever.”
He startled and said your name, not having realized it was you back there, but recognized your voice. “Is that you? Hang on, I’m coming back.”
You were Stark’s newest prodigy intern. He’d started the program a few years ago, giving some kids an inside look and experience in the tech field. This year, your application had been chosen out of thousands. You were a bright teen, so it made sense to Loki. He’d talked to you a few times before, but the conversations were incredibly short as you were extremely shy, barely even lasting two full minutes. Still, he’d been sure to give you a wave and a smile when he came across you, but it didn’t really ever do anything to help you out of your shell.
After crawling through the greenery, he plopped down next to you in the small, squished space between the bushes and the building. You’d scooched over a little so there would be room for him. He hated the way you were still holding in your cries.
“It’s alright. Just let it all out, ok?” he hesitantly said. That seemed to be all the encouragement you needed before your tears took over again. Slowly, so you could pull away if you wanted to, Loki wrapped you in a hug. When you calmed down, for real this time, he finished rubbing a last few large circles on your back before pulling back a little to look at you. “Feeling better?”
You nodded. “Sorry.”
“Sorry?” he parroted back in question. His thumb caught one of the last tears trickling down your cheek. “Whatever for? There is no need to apologize for having emotions.”
“Your shirt,” you sniffled.
He looked down to see it was, in fact, wet from your tears. He just shrugged. “I’ve got more. Besides, it’ll dry.”
“Thank you,” you whispered.
“No worries, kid. Want to come in now? I could make you some tea or coffee or hot cocoa or whatever. Name it.”
“Can I have some cocoa? I-if it’s not too much trouble,” you mumbled, wiping your nose with the back of your hand.
“Of course! And you know I was kidding about the tissues, right?” he chuckled, fishing a pack out of his bag.
Once you’d cleaned yourself up a bit, the two of you crawled out from your hiding place, Loki offering his hand to help you stand. Then he led you up to the kitchen to get your drink. Tony would have had no problem with you using the kitchen—or any of the rooms in his home, really—but you were too nervous to overstep and never actually did. You were both seated with mugs of the thick, steamy, chocolaty liquid before Loki tried to find out what was wrong.
“So. What’s up?” he began.
“Oh, nothing. I’m fine,” you replied with a falsely bright smile.
“Kid, I know a thing or two about crying. You’re not fine.” You ducked your head in shame, and he was quick to clarify himself. “And that’s not a bad thing! You’re  human, you have human emotions. No one’s ok one hundred percent of the time. And... And you don’t have to talk about it, but maybe you should. It might make you feel better. So, if you want to, I’m here.”
“It’s stupid,” you shook your head with a wry laugh. Your lip was quivering, more tears threatening to spill. “School is stressing me out.”
“That’s not stupid, it’s how you feel. And, might I add, it’s perfectly understandable and valid. I mean, not only are you trying your best there, but you also come here every day for your internship. Norns, you must be freaking Supergirl or something.”
You chuckled at the colloquial from his home world. “I dunno about that now. It just... It seems like no matter what I do, I’m not good enough. I don’t have the best grades, or the most friends, or the prettiest looks, or the greatest anything, really. Ugh, it all just feels so pointless sometimes.”
“You know what? You’re right. It does all feel pointless. But it’s not. Don’t get me wrong, school doesn’t measure how smart you are; it measures how good you are memorizing stuff and taking tests. Which is incredibly frustrating! But it helps you explore some subjects and have fun with the friends you do have. The most important thing it does, though, is teach you perseverance. Like we said, school’s hard. But you keep trying, no matter what. And I see a smart, talented, beautiful young girl before me. Your feelings are valid, but don’t let them consume you. Trust me, you have a lot to be proud of.”
Loki picked at his nails while you stared at your mug, mulling over his words. He worried he said something wrong or overstepped in some way, but he’d been where you were not too long ago.
“Thank you,” you finally said. “I don’t think I can just fix everything overnight, you know? But what you said really does mean a lot.”
“You’re quite welcome,” Loki responded with a warm, friendly smile. He took a swig of his own drink, choosing his next words carefully. “No one should expect you to fix anything that fast. As long as you’re trying, you’re doing something right. A lot right, actually. You deserve breaks too. And if you ever need someone to vent to or whatever, I’m here.”
“Thanks again. And I’m here for you, too.”
He gave you a natural, lopsided grin as the two of you exchanged numbers. He was glad to see you were much more at ease, though still considerably shy with him. Still, he could imagine you becoming more bold as your friendship blossomed. You timidly ducked your head when Tony walked in.
“Oh no. You better not be turning her to the dark side,” Tony teased as he made himself a cup of coffee. “I’ve had enough pranks for a lifetime.”
“Relax, Uncle Tony. I haven’t recruited her for any mischief... Yet,” he joked back with a wink in your direction, causing you to giggle behind your hand.
“Whew, that’s a relief. Well, if you two aren’t plotting my untimely demise, feel free to head to the lab whenever you want, kid.”
“Actually, I’m good to go now, Mr. Stark.” You stood up and grabbed your bag from beside your chair where you’d left it earlier. “Bye, Loki. Talk soon! And, uh, thanks again.”
With one final smile, you scurried off to your destination. Loki smiled back and waved as you left, feeling some sense of hope and direction bloom in his chest. You’d given him an idea.
“Hey, Uncle Tony. I was thinking, how would you feel about another Stark Industries youth program?...”

Hi! I’m back again! 🥺You know how heartwarming it is seeing little black girls have representation/idols? Princess Tiana, Susie Carmichael, and even Orange Blossom are some of my top examples growing up and I would love head cannons of Hawks, Bakugo, Aizawa, and Mirio reacting to their black!fem!pro-hero crush gushing as she meets a few young (like 5-8 years old to make it cuter) black girls wearing her merch or looking at her in pure awe to see someone that looks like them is a pro-hero. They could be patrolling or just minding their business and they hear this little queen just squeal in joy as Y/N is like “Oh, Come here, Baby! 🥺”. Sis doesn’t care where they’re at; She will hug, give an autograph, and spoil the angels! She’s not even a high ranking hero and to see she’s already giving representation just makes her heart burst when she hears the magical words of “You look like me! 😃”
I Want To Be Just Like You!
Now, I know you said you wanted it to be just designated to little black kids, but I had to spice it a bit and include all races. I hope that’s okay! Thank you for requesting and I hope you like it!
Disclaimer: Soft Moments
————————————————————————————————————————
Tumblr media
* Mirio already took notice to your rising popularity within the hero society.
* That’s what he came to fall for though, how much effort you’d always put in to your work and how you were constantly saving someone or ready to. His speed was unmatchable to you.
* So, When you two were on patrol one afternoon, it wasn’t a surprise when he saw two little kids rushing over with papers in their hands.
* It was obvious that they just came from school due to the backpacks on their back, one thing was completely evident though.
* A little girl had a action figure of you in her other hand when she finally arrived in your view.
* “M-M-May I have your autograph?! Please!” She begged excitedly, her eyes sparking under the orange sun while holding a white notebook in her hands.
* You smiled, getting on your knees and took the pen from her hand. “What’s your name?” You questioned.
* “I’m (something similar to your hero name)!” She said with a absolute smile on her face. “And I want to be just like you! Maybe we can beat villains together and save people!” She said happily, her excitement obvious.
* “But I want to be a hero too!” Her friend whined, walking towards you.
* “You both can be heroes..and save the day together.” You replied, stopping their argument as they smiled brightly towards you. You listened to their talking about being a group team and how they’d love to be sidekicks of yours.
* You didn’t mind it a single bit, admiring thier words while he admired you from afar, his swelling crush growing bigger for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
* You and his relationship was now an exclusive one, especially after a few scandals and a near exposure.
* It was a small backlash at first but, things kinda smoothed out. It became a subject not to really worry about and something to be okay with.
* It was your off day when you and Keigo decided to go out for a date,something simple and fun.
* The random and strange idea to go shopping, you needed a few things and wanted to change a few things to your costume.
* Keigo didn’t mind because he wanted do buy a new pair of headphones since the ones around his neck broke during a fight with a villain.
* A few spent cash later, you had your items and he had his latest headphones. You and him were heading to the food court to grab a bite when you kept feeling that feeling.
* You instantly had your guard up because you felt a stare on you and god was it hard.
* You were about to activate your quirk when you spotted the eyes that stared at you behind the glass doors of a kid’s toy store. You waved but she ducked back behind the glass before looking at you again.
* “Come here honey.” You soothed, making her small eyes widened a bit. “Don’t be scared...” you added, easing your way to her height on the cold tile within the busy mall.
* Her small shoes tapped on the floor when she engulfed you into a hug, nearly jumping in your arms as she held you close. You giggled softly, seeing her random sign of affection.
* A older individual soon walked over and smiled, seeing you two together where she explained why she stared and why she’s hugging your body so tight. You were her destiny and the dream she wished to reach.
* Hawks couldn’t help but smile when the once shy child began to talk about the heroic acts you did, confidently. Your smile never left, his heart smiled knowing that you would make a great wife one day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
* It was hero’s day in UA academy, you were apart of the staff to assist with training the students in the best way you could.
* It pained you to replace Midnight’s place but you had to do what you had.
* Hero’s day was a day where you’d dedicate something to a hero you admired.
* As predicted, Deku made All Might a pretty cool cake with the help of his mother and a personal gift.
* Aizawa and everyone else got gifts. As well as students, especially Deku and Bakugo, well class 1A received a whole buffet from the townspeople they saved and a lump some of money.
* You didn’t mind the fact you hadn’t received anything really, you weren’t in the spotlight anymore and the issue with your quirk may being your easy ticket to your death.
* You definitely didn’t want that.
* “Alright Students! Gather your things and prepare for the bell!” You ordered, tapping your stacked homework papers to grade on your desk when the door opened.
* You glanced to see your fiancé walk in before looking away. You were used to his arrival because you and him would eat lunch together.
* You went back organizing your desk, not noticing the child that walked to you. “H/N?” A voice said, making you confused. You haven’t heard your hero name in a while and you turned to see a young girl, dressed exactly like you. Down to every last detail of your hero costume and hair.
* “Thank you for saving me and being my hero.” She said, holding a picture to you.
* When you first became a hero, your first successful action was a house fire, everyone was escorted out but her mother kept screaming about her missing daughter. You bravely ran back in and searched for her.
* You could remember screaming for her when she screamed back, you held her tightly while the wood snapped and began to fall. It was luck that you two came out alive.
* You were speechless while she smiled cheerfully at you, holding the infamous newspaper shot of her holding you tightly while you two laid in a hospital bed inside the ambulance together.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
* It was rather normal for you and him to be on patrol together, it took a minute to earn his respect as well as he did to earn yours.
* You were a up and coming hero, certainly making a big impact within the community.
* You were defeating villains, becoming the first African American female to have an award in Japan for your hard work.
* You didn’t mind it though, you were destined to keep people and others safe like you always pushed yourself to do.
* Your feet tapped against the sidewalk when you saw a child at the playground.
* From the details in her costume, she was a fan of yours. She stood on top of the monkey chamber, in your hero pose as she looked up at the sky. “Ha! You can’t defeat me, I am H/N!” She announced before swooping down from the bars.
* The kids screamed while they ran around in circles with each other, you giggled softly watching them until her eyes locked on you. The moment she saw you. She dropped the toy as a crowd of kids follows her to you.
* It was a girls academy because it was a large crowd of young girls that proclaimed their love and passion for you, how they wanted to be just like you and to save others.
* You couldn’t help but admire how cute they were, even if some were still in their uniform. The little girl that’s as dressed as you, held a notebook in her hands. It was opened to a blank page.
* Without asking for their names, you simply signed in the book with your signature and a small message. “Believe in your dreams and strive for the best, I’ll be waiting when you graduate from UA’
* The girls loud screams and squeals they created when you and Bakugo continued walking made him rethink his negative thoughts about you. You weren’t suck up or anything, you wanted everyone to accomplish their dreams and be the greatest they can be. No matter who they are.
It was almost 7pm on Saturday and I was almost ready to go meet Tom before we went to the party. I had put on a stylish shirt along with a skirt (a little shorter than i usually wore) and a sandal with a medium heel. After finishing doing my outline, I take the bag with the gift and went down the stairs.
The day before I had found something in the mall, a chain with an amber stone as a pendant. The attendant of the store had told me it meant protection and calm, which I thought was perfect to give to Tom as a way to show that I was there to comfort him whenever he needed it.
As soon as I went downstairs my mother was already waiting for me to fill me with accessories (she always complained that I didn't "dress up" properly).
- You look beautiful! - She said putting a bracelet on my wrist and two rings on my fingers.
- Aw, thanks mom!- I said giving a kiss on her cheek. - I have to go, because I'm almost late, I don't know what time I'll be back, probably before midnight.
-Okay, If you need anything calls us and we'll go get you. - She said and I nodded waving to my father who was in the living room. - Give my birthday wishes to Thomas and a hi to Haz for me and take this pie to Nikki. - She handed me a bag with a pot as we walked down the stairs from the front door.
- Okay, bye mom! - I said and waved down the street.
After walking for less than 10 minutes I was in front of Tom's house, took a deep breath, went up the stairs to the entrance and knocked on the door. I heard some screams to open the door from the inside and a "messy hair" Harry wearing striped pajamas answered me.
- It's Y/n! - He yelled to the side. - Come in. - He said as he gave me space and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
- Are you ready to sleep? - I said pointing to his pajamas. - Actually it's time to children to be in bed, you're right. - and Harry stuck out his tongue.
- So funny. Since we're not old enough to go to the party with you guys, me, Sam and Paddy are going to play video games and watch movies, you know, boys night. - He said as if celebrating, putting a fist up.
- Got it. In fact, what I really wanted was to be with you guys watching movies, much better than a party. - I said as we arrived in the kitchen, where Nikki and Sam were preparing cookies.
- I doubt it, I can't wait to go out and have fun at night. Harry said and I shrugged.
- What can I do? I'm a old lady... - I laughed and greeted Nikki and Sam with a hug.
- I wish my children like to stay in home like you. -Nikki spoke as she took the cookie shape out of the oven.
- Well Nikki, I've already tried to get them on the right path, but they're too rebellious.- I said and Harry and Sam giggled. - My mother sent you apple pie. - I put the bag on the counter.
- Yay, your moms apple pie is delicious!- Sam said opening the bag and taking a fork to taste.
- Teenagers....I don't know what I do with these pests anymore.- Nikki said putting her hand on her hip and watching Harry and Sam fight to eat the pie.
- Did I hear pie?- Paddy came into the kitchen greeting me with our handshake, which I taught him since he was practically a baby, Paddy and I had our little bond, I was his defender when the older brothers made fun of him.
He stole Sam's fork and ran off as he and Harry ran after him screaming.
-Oh God…I don't deserve this.- Nikki laughed. - Honey, Tom is there in his room getting ready, if you want to go upstairs.
- Okay, I'll hurry him.- I said and she agreed, laughing. - By the way, you look amazing! I loved your outfit.
- Thank you Nikki! - I thanked going towards the stairs.
Once I got to the top I walked until I reached the end of the hallway where Tom's room was, knocking on the door.
- Tommy? Can I come in? - I asked and heard a "come in!" from the inside.
I opened the door and saw Tom in front of the mirror finishing his hair. He wore a basic white T-shirt and black jeans, along with a black all star with white laces. He looks beautiful, which made me miss a few heartbeats for a moment.
- Did you like it? - He asked turning to me and opening his arms looking at himself and then at me again.
- Perfect! I loved the all star- I said and he smiled.
- You not looking bad yourself either... New skirt? - He said looking me up and down making me feel my cheeks burning.
- It's old, but I've never used it, I left it for special dates.
- I felt honored now- he said and I laughed.
-Hey happy brithday! - I approached and hugged him feeling his delicious and intoxicating perfume. - Best wishes, I hope all your dreams come true. - I said still hugging him tight and closing my eyes feeling him kiss my cheek when we let go.
- Thank you mate, you and Haz are one of the best thinga in my life. - He said and I smiled seeing him smile back, and what a smile... Damn y/n! Stop thinking things that shouldn't be thought!!
-I have a present for you!-I said, delivering my bag in his hands.
- Yay!! - He got excited sitting on the bed to open it like a child on Christmas Day. -Wow!- he said taking the chain out of the box. - It's beautiful... Thank you so much darling, I love it! - and obviously I blushed even more with the pet name. Tom called all the women closest to him darling or love, which was normal, but whenever he said to me, for some reason, I felt a warm feeling in my heart...
- You're welcome Tommy, it's an amber stone to bring you protection and patience.
- Perfect, everything I need - he looked at me - I'll use it right now! It even matched my outifit- he said putting the chain around his neck and winking at me right after.
- I liked it, it looks amazing. - I said looking at him and he hugged me from the side.
- Hey, we have to go if we don't want to be late.- he said getting up and giving me his hand to get up too.
- Right. - I said, following him out of the room and down the stairs behind him.
- Mom? We're already going! - he yelled, taking the keys from the counter and Nicki appeared approaching.
- You two are rocking huh? Both look beautiful! My baby is already so grown... - she said squeezing one of Tom's cheeks making me laugh and he rolled his eyes.
- Mom...
- Okay, go ahead, and don't drink! Especially you young man - she said pointing at Tom with her intimidating finger. - And don't come back too late.
- Okay mom. I'm responsible.
- Yeah... I'm just more relieved, because the Y/n goes too, she's the only sane one of this "impossible trio." - and I made a face of "proud of myself", puffing out my chest.
-Ha-ha, yeah sure...- Tom replied and I hit his arm causing him to rub it pretending he was in pain.
- I'm the oldest and most responsible, Nikki is absolutely right. - I said and Nikki laughed.
- You said like you're very old, but it's only some months... - He start saying and I raised my hand ready to hit him again, making him shrink with fear. - Okay, okay... Now let's go, because we're already too late. - Tom said opening the door letting me through and we waved to Nikki.
We took an uber and arrived in 20 minutes in front of the party. It was a really nice house, Tom’s friend welcome us on the front door and lead us to the backward, into what appeared to be a small wood structure with a big window at the front, but when Tom and I walked in after passing the door, the place was a lot bigger than it looked. It had a lot tables around like a big saloon even with a dance floor and seemed to be very cozy. When we walked in you could hear an indie song playing in the background, which I really liked as it's one of my favorite styles. Passing through the door we already saw some familiar people seated, including Haz.
- Finally! The birthday boy arrived!- Tuwaine, one of the boys' friends, who eventually became mine too, stood up greeting Tom with a hug.
- Thanks mate.- Tom said returning the hug and greeting the rest of the people who were at the table and I went after him greeting them too.
- Good to see you here Y/n! I know you're not a big fan of parties.- Tuwaine said as I sat between him and Haz.
- Well, it’s what we do for friends, right? - I laugh looking at Tom who was talking to some friends from the school.
An hour passed and everyone was drinking and talking happily. Tom sat at the end of the long table a little away from where I was with Haz and Tuwaine, so the 3 of us were talking nonsense and joking together.
Until a group of 4 girls arrived together, one of them I could recognize as being Gracie, a girl from the school, I didn't know her very well, we were classmates, we did math together, but we never talked. And another face I knew well: Meghan. A girl who do theater with the boys and who was everyone's crush. Tom and Haz were always talking about her, but I had never talked to her for a long time, just the times I would meet the boys at the theater, we would say hello and goodbye and that was it. The only thing I knew was that Tom was in love with her since he was a child.
Obviously that made me a little jealous, which was ridiculous, because I didn't even know her very well and even though I felt something different for Tom for the past few months, it wasn't right for me to be jealous, he was my friend, that's all.
The girls approached the table and Tom got up to greet them.
-I'm glad you came!-I heard him say as he kissed Meghan's cheek and hugged the others. I could see Gracie looking in Haz's direction and look away quickly, which made me raise a curious eyebrow.
They sat down and I saw Meghan walking to the bar with Tom as they chatted excitedly. I looked away picking up my glass with a drink I didn't even know what it was anymore, taking a sip. I heard someone approaching and when I looked up I saw Gracie.
- Hi Haz! Good to see you. - She said and I saw Haz turn a little red.
- Good to see you too Gracie!- he said greeting her across the table.
- Do you guys know each other?- I asked looking from one to the other.
- Yes we did English together. - Haz said.
- You are Y/n aren't you? Do we do math together? - Gracie asked.
- Yes we do! Do you know Meghan too?
- Yes, she is a childhood friend of mine, as she said she was coming on Tom's birthday and didn't want to come alone me, Beverly and Paige came to accompany her.
- Got it, do you want to sit with us? - I said pointing to the chair in front of us.
- I wish, but the girls are already asking me to sit with them, we haven't seen each other for a while, you know, don't you want to go sit with us instead? - She said pointing to the other table where the other 3 girls were looking at her, calling her.
- It's a good idea. - Haz said and looked at me and Tuwaine who agreed, getting up.
So Gracie went in the front with Tuwaine behind her and me and Haz got a little further back, where I poked him.
- Why didn't you tell me you had a crush? - I asked like a whisper so that only he could hear me.
- It's not a crush... She's just a nice girl from my class, that's all. - he replied.
- Haz I know you.- I said and he rolled his eyes giggling.
We arrived at the table and stayed there talking and getting to know each other. The girls were really nice and cool, which I ended up getting along really well with them, especially Gracie, which was funny because we did a class together and we never even said hello to each other. In the meantime, Tom and Meghan had already returned from the bar with their drinks, where Meghan ended up finding a way to sit next to Tom at the other table, which I thought was a little weird, but I ignored it.
After a few minutes Tom approached our table.
- Hey guys, we’re going to the dance floor, do you guys want to?- he asked leaning between my chair and Haz.
Everyone ended up agreeing, getting up and following him to the dance floor, where Meghan and a few others at the other table were already dancing. The song Juicebox by The strokes starts playing, and everyone sang loudly. I was a little behind as I hated dancing, but I also joined in the singing, because Strokes was one of my favorite bands.
Soon after, the song Glockenspiel song by D.I.D started to play. We got even more excited and started jumping singing. I saw Haz approach Gracie, which made me smile, they looked cute together. So, I looked around and realized that I was in a corner alone, Tuwaine had already left for the middle of the floor super excited and the other girls were on the other side, talking to Marcos and Julian. I kept looking until I found Tom and Meghan, they were dancing very close and talking talking into each other's ears, laughing.
(Oh this town, it's so electric Since I got the feeling I can't shut down)
I lowered my eyes finding the ground very interesting for a moment, but I couldn't stand it and looked up again.
(Oh this town, it's so electric Since I got the feeling I can't shut down)
Which I regretted, because now they were kissing passionately.
(We are a mess, we are failures and we love it)
I felt my stomach starts to hurt, and my eyes fill with tears. Why did I feel this way? It was ridiculous and immature. Tom had already hooked up with other girls in front of me, why was it different now? Not understanding my feelings, the only thing I did was run away, I went outiside and went to the front of the house, leaving.
Maybe it was the drink? But I sat on a low wall and lowered my head to my knees and started to cry.
Hawk X Reader
Warnings? Partying! Violence! Hawk being well even more of an a**! Mentions of sex! CHEATING! Crying! Fake dating! Language!
Poison Love
Tumblr media
Your phone ringing breaks you out of your humble nap you were taking after being in school all day. You groan, wondering who could possibly be calling you during your sleeping session.
Grabbing your phone from beside your bed you turn it over seeing the time being 5:00 pm, only had two hours of sleep. You had hoped for at least three hours of a beautiful nap but you knew it wouldn’t happen without any distractions.
Answering the phone, not even bothering to see who the caller ID belonged to you groaned "hello?" You ask in a husky voice because of your lovely nap you took.
"Hey Y/n! I’m having a party tonight at 6 can you come?" Moon asks excitedly through the phone, smiling you nod even though she can’t see it.
"Of course Moon! I’ll be there!" You exclaim excitedly, knowing you could never say no to Moon.
"Thanks Y/n, it’s going to be fun!" She squeals, you already knowing she is most likely jumping up and down of excitement.
Ending the call you slowly get out of bed, only having an hour to get ready. Picking out your favorite red dress you walk into the bathroom touching up your hair and outfits.
By the time you finished getting ready it was already 5:40 meaning you had enough time to drive to Moons without being late.
On the way to Moons house you get a call from Robby, pressing answer you put it on speaker keeping your eyes on the road because safe driving kids.
"Hey Robby" You say taking a left.
"Y/n hey, I need your help" Robby says as his voice fills with worry.
"Yeah? What’s wrong?" You ask curiously, worried for your friend.
"I need your help for picking out something for Sam for her birthday tomorrow, since you’re her best friend and know more about her" He asks curiously, hoping you would say yes.
"Of course!-" You sigh thanking that he wasn’t hurt, or wanted you to hide a dead body- which you totally would.... not do for him "-I’m on my way to Moons house for a party she’s having so how about we say hello and then we can leave together to pick her something up?" You suggest.
"Yeah! You are a life savor Y/n" Robby says releasing a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
You chuckle "I’m just looking out for my friends" you say pulling up in Moons drive way seeing half the kids from the school already with drinks and diving in the pool.
"Thank you!" He says before hanging up, grabbing your purse, you get out of your car before walking up to moon who is already talking and drinking with a bunch of girls from school.
Thats what you loved about Moon, she wasn’t mean or disliked by half of the school like Yasmin was. "Y/n!" Moon yells running towards you, spilling some of her drink in the red solo cup while doing so.
"Moon!" You say excitedly as you run to her with open arms, pulling her into a warming hug.
Letting go moon starts to explain where everything is "drinks are on the table over there, and food is inside in the kitchen" she explains as she kissed your cheek and runs off.
"Have fun!" Moon yells before running back to the girls she was previously talking to.
Walking around you find Hawk, your boyfriend laughing with some of his friends "hey babe" you say walking up to him.
Hawk turns around noticing your sweet voice "hello love" he says with a small smile as he pecks your lips and wraps you in a tight hug.
He keeps his arm wrapped around you until you both part your ways getting caught up in either talking to friends or laughing and play fighting.
Not to much time goes by before Robby turns up to the party grabbing his skateboard as he walks over to you. "Y/n! Hey, are you ready to go?" He asks from your previous conversation before.
"Yeah! Let me just text Eli real quick letting him know where I went!" You say with a smile on your face as you send a message to Hawk, telling him where you were going to be and what you were doing.
Meanwhile Tory has been watching you like a hawk waiting for you to get in the right situation so she could tell Eli that she caught you cheating so she could break you both up.
It’s not that she didn’t like you, she just thought of you as a threat as if you were trying to get Hawk to join the good side again. Of course it would be nice for you to have your Eli back but you couldn’t make him do anything. You would have to love and except who he is now and be honest with him.
Tory watches as you and Robby walks over to your call getting in and driving off together. This is what she wanted and now she finally has at least something to tell Hawk and get him to turn against you.
"So the mall?" You ask as you drive down the road off of Moons street.
"That’s the plan" Robby runs his hands on his pants nervously.
"What am I gonna say?" He asks nervously as he bites at his nail.
"Hey stop that" you demand slapping his hand from his mouth.
He sighs in defeat, "just tell her how you feel from the bottom of your heart" you suggest shrugging your shoulders.
"Here practice on me, think of me as if I was Sam" you say as you stop at a red light and turn to Robby.
"Okay.... Y/n L- I uh Samantha LaRusso I am completely and utterly in love with everything about you" he says seriously as you both stare at each others piercing eyes.
It was like gravity was pushing you two together as your faces got closer together, lips almost touching before you tear away turning back to the light which was now green causing you to press the gas.
"Okay so, that was good!" You stop for a moment "-what are you thinking about getting her?" You ask curiously.
"Uh I-" Robby clears his throat "-I don’t know, I want to get her something she doesn’t have and has always wanted but never bought" he says nervously messing with his fingers.
"Okay, I know she was talking to me about wanting a necklace. What’s your budget?" You ask as your mind keeps flooding back to almost kissing Robby.
"75 bucks...." Robby mumbles.
"Okay that perfect!" You say as you take a left before finding a place to park at the West Valley Mall.
Meanwhile at back at Moon's, "are you sure?" Eli asks as he feels his heart break at what he had just heard Tory tell him.
She told him that his girlfriend, the love of his life was kissing Robby and they left together looking as if they were hooking up.
"Yeah, I’m sorry dude..." Tory says 'sincerely' as she pulls a sad face.
Hawk turns around as he takes a deep breath, taking in this new information "you saw them, locking lips one on one?" He asks not wanting to believe it.
"Yeah, dude! They were going full on out!" Tory yells defensively.
"Well then how about we get back at her?" Eli smirks mischievously even though he could feel his heart breaking at the new found 'information'.
"What are you suggesting?" Tory asks with a small smirk.
"Sleep with me"
<><><><><><><>
"Here it is!" You squeal as you show Robby the beautiful necklace Sam had been having her eye on for a while now.
"Wow it’s beautiful" Robby says mesmerized.
"I know! She’ll love it!" You say happily.
"Uh how much is this?" Robby asks the cashier who walks over to us.
"You’re in luck! This is the last one, and it’s 50% off today!" She says cheeringly.
"The price was originally 69.99$ but since its 50% off today it will be 35.86$" She says pulling the stand out of the glass box.
"We’ll take it!" Robby says with a smile.
"Great! I’ll have it ready for you, would you like to pick which necklace box?" She asks walking over to the register as we follow.
"Sure..... that one" Robby says pointing to a black necklace box with gold around the edge and a rose one of Sams favorite flowers in the middle, all in gold.
"Wow, she’s one lucky girl" The lady says with a small cheeky wink as she rings it up.
"Thank you!" We both say in sync as she hands us the bag and receipt.
"Back to the party?" You ask curiously.
"I’m pretty tired, what time is it?" Robby asks as his brows furrow.
"Um- it can’t be to late-" you say grabbing your phone out, eyes widening at the time "-crap it’s eight o’clock already?!" You say confused, as it only had felt like a couple minutes.
Your face contorts as you see that Hawk hadn’t replied to your message or even read it.
As if on whether you get a message from Aisha "I’m so sorry Y/n..." it reads as she sends a picture of a naked Tory and Hawk making out in Moons bed.
Your heart breaks as your eyes become glossy, no. You weren’t going to cry over just any boy.... but he wasn’t just any boy he was what you felt as the love of your life.
"What is it Y/n?" Robby asks concerned as he noticed your whole mood change.
"Look" you say handing over your phone to Robby letting him see the picture.
"Oh my god... I’m so sorry, Y/n" he says as his heart breaks, how could anyone ever cheat or hurt someone as beautiful as you.
He hands your phone over to you exiting out of the picture so you didn’t have to see it "it’s not your fault" you say sniffling.
You take your phone from his hands, both your hands touch each others and you make eye contact. Looking back down you send a reply to Eli "it’s over, we’re over" you hit send as you shut your phone off.
"I did it" you reply as tears you couldn’t stop rolled down your cheek.
"Hey it’s okay come here" He says pulling you into a tight hug letting your tears fall out of his shoulder.
Using one hand he turns up the radio to which as if on cue one of your favorites 'Put Your Head On My Shoulder' starts playing softly in the background.
Slowly you lift up your head, making eye contact with Robby as you both lean in once again. It felt right, you had always had a huge crush on him ever since high school and even some in high school. But you never told him in fear of him not liking you back.
Suddenly Robby’s lips press against yours as the soft music plays in the background.
You both pull away "I’m- I’m sorry Y/! I didn’t mean to take adva-" you cut him off.
"Hey- it’s okay Robby, I’ve been meaning to tell you something anyways" you say as you become hesitant not wanting to ruin your friendship.
"I used to really like you before high school, I had the biggest crush on you even sometime in high school" you say bashfully as you sit yourself up back in your seat.
"Really?!- i thought it was just me!" He yells, eyes wide.
"What?" You say confused.
"Yeah, Y/n I- you were my first love, even though I would NOT tell you in fear of a big fat slap in the face... oh and rejection" Robby says as a small blush appears on his face.
"Wow- who knows, if one of us told each other than we would most definitely be together right now" you say feeling your heart burst at the thought.
"But we can’t- can we?" He asks confused.
"Well, you like Sam and I don’t want to get between that and I.... I have Eli to worry about" you sigh.
"Okay, friends" Robby says hopefully.
"Always Keene" you smile.
"That kiss was amazing though, it kinda gave me the clarity I needed" You chuckle.
"Me too, Y/n. Thank you for... all of it tonight" He says bashfully.
"Of course anytime-" you stop feeling something wrong with that sentence "- well not k-" this time Robby interrupts you.
"I know what you mean" he chuckles.
"Hey, I know Sams not going to be at school because of a trip her dads supposed to take her on so how about we pretend to be together and see if we can get Hawk to speak up?" Robby suggests.
"That sounds- like a bada*s idea!" You chuckle causing Robby to laugh.
"It’s settled than.... girlfriend" He says with a small smirk.
"Alright boyfriend" you laugh.
Soon comfortable silence was all you heard as you dropped Robby off and drove yourself home, not even an hour later and you were home laying in your bed trying to get comfortable. You think about what tomorrow holds and you can’t help but be excited at Robby’s idea.
<><><><><>
Groaning you roll over to your alarm going off to which you hit stop, soon remembering what today holds. Getting up and in a new pair of clean clothes you do your daily routine and head off to school.
Entering the building you look over to see Hawk on one side of the hallway talking and laughing with his friends and in that moment your heart broke even more. The next hallway held Robby who waved at you excitedly as a boyfriend would normally do.
"Hey babe" Robby says pecking your cheek, catching the eye of Hawks friends who point you both out to Hawk.
Hawk turns around and immediately sees red as he sees both you and Robby laughing and smiling. Deciding to do something about it he walks up to you both, demandingly.
"What the f*ck are you doing with my girlfriend?" He asks angrily.
You turn around "your girlfriend?-" you yell walking up to his face "-I wasn’t the one f*cking Tori while your girlfriend was helping a friend out, so I am not your girlfriend" you say just as angry as him.
"Oh yeah? You call helping someone out by sucking their d*ck" He smirks crossing his arms.
"So what I kissed Robby? At least I had the decency to break up with you while I did" you scoff.
"Wait you what?" He says taking a step back.
"Look at your phone a*shat" you say rolling your eyes.
Eli furrows his brows before grabbing his phone out of his pocket, unlocking it and finding your messages. His face twists into a bundle of emotions, first confused, then sad, and now guilty.
"Y/n, I did not know I am so sorry" He says as his voice cracks in between.
"Yeah well sorry doesn’t cut it, you were f*cking Tori in Moon's bed for crying out loud!" You yell causing Moon to spark up.
"What?" She shrieked running over to Hawk.
"My bed?" She asked not even giving him a chance to answer him before slapping him straight across the face.
"That was velvet!" Moon yells as Hawk holds his now red; and probably stinging cheek.
"I’m sorry okay Y/n, I- Tory told me that she caught you and Robby kissing and leaving together saying that she heard that you two were going to do more than that" He says angry at himself and Tory.
You scoff shaking your head "did you really expect me to believe that?" You ask bitterly.
"Tory, did you make this up tell me NOW!" Hawk yells out the last part causing me to jump along with the other students- wait- other students.
Just then I notice a circle around us full of students recording, some even had popcorn.... even some teachers were watching while eating.
Tory steps up, head held high "yes I did, and i proudly say that. She was a threat and needed to be gone" She says smirking.
"How was she a threat?!" Hawk yells now walking up to Tory and getting in her face.
"She was changing you into a goodie two shoes!" Tory yells defensively.
"You better be glad I don’t want to fight anyone physically right now" Eli growled.
"See! That’s what I’m talking about, if I had to sleep with you to get you two away from each other I did it!" She yells throwing her hands up in the air.
"Eli can we talk in private?" You ask sincerely.
Hawks back un-tenses as he turns to you, nodding. You grab his hand and lead him into a janitors closet, turning the light on "Eli, why did you do it?" You ask looking down.
"I-I wanted to get back at you, my heart shattered once Tory told me what she did and we’ll I wanted to make you feel like I did" he admits as he starts tearing up, finally breaking.
"I’m sorry" he whimpers. You pull him into a hug, now releasing your tears as you both cry on each others shoulders.
"Can you forgive me?" Eli whimpers out.
"I can’t forgive you just yet, but with time i will" you say.
"I love you and I’ll wait for you Y/n" He mumbles into your neck as his cry’s become harder.
"I guess we just have a Poison Love"
Spider-man (Peter Parker) comes to save you from the deadly fire. I don’t want to spoil it too much so you have to read it hehe! This story is full of drama, romance, love and more, I hope you enjoy it!!
Chapter 1: The first day
You were not ready to move to a new school, you were sad about leaving your friends and your ex-boyfriend who you can’t get over. You broke up because you didn’t want a long-distance relationship. No one knew you were gay, not even your family. You were on your way to your new school. "Alright, y/n we’re here” your dad sighed after a long ride.
“Have fun and oh don’t forget about the girls, talk to them, be you."
annoyed by the statement you told him he could leave as of now.
As you walk in, you spot David, your older brother standing beside 2 girls and supposedly ‘flirting’ with them, not sparing you even a glance.You knock on the principal's offices’ door
“Hey mom”
“Hey, honey! I’m so sorry, I’m really busy today but here is your schedule and Peter will be coming to help you around the school.”
Peter? Patiently you sat and waited for him.
“Mrs. Stark, did you call me?” You glanced over the place where the voice spoke from, it was the guy you’ve had a crush on for 3 goddamn years. Peter Parker.
Everything about him spoke ‘attractive’ you couldn't take your eyes off of him but the fear of him rejecting you and probably not being into boys has kept you from speaking out your feelings. You’ve kept your feeling deep down locked inside your heart for so long but now looking at him, his dreamy brown eyes, his smile that could light up the whole place just brought back all those feelings back again and you couldn't help but fall in love with him again.
“yeah I did, this is Y/n my son that I’ve told you about." "Hey Y/n, long time no see." “Hey Peter, you’ve changed” you and Peter stared at each other awkwardly. “Well, Y/n I hope you have a good day, Peter will show you around the school. If you have any questions, ask Peter'', your mom went back into her office and you were left alone with Peter.
Peter was talking to you and showing you around the school but you were too busy looking at him and admiring his looks. How his eyes were worth getting lost in, how his lips curved into a small cute smile whenever he spoke and how his hands scratched the back of his neck frequently showing his nervousness but you didn't know for what. He showed you around the school and took you to your class. He was in the same class as you. The teacher called you over and asked you to introduce yourself. It's that time you hate the most, stand in front of everyone and talk about yourself as if they care or give a shit about you. You could feel the nervousness seeping in and you stuttered "H-hi g-guys, I’m Y/n and I’m 15 years old." You talked a little bit about yourself and headed to your seat, breathing out heavily and sighing away the nervousness you felt up there. After class, you went to the cafeteria where Peter offered you to sit with him and his two best friends Ned and MJ. "Hey, y/n!" they both said. Hey, you replied to both of them. “I saw you in science class today and you were lit, solving the hardest questions like they were nothing.” "Thanks, they were actually not that easy you know” you said back, smiling a bit. You were a little annoyed because of your ex’s-new post on Instagram with his new girlfriend and even though you knew he wasn't worth it you couldn't help but feel sad. It was your first break-up. You kept on thinking and thinking about that and tears started falling from your eyes. Peter could see those tears but was too hesitant to ask so he tried to divert your mind from what you were thinking. Finally, the bell rang and you headed to your class. After a few hours school was finally over and you saw your dad again ready to ask you about your day but you could care less so cutting him off you said “as always it was a shitty day dad." “Mr. Stark! Mr. Stark!” a familiar voice said running towards you and your dad. It was Peter with math homework in his hands. "You almost forgot your homework Y/n, here you go.” He handed you your homework. As usual you were impressed by the small things he did, people might think it was not that special but for me it was everything he did for you was special. Perks of being in love you could say. You stared at his beautiful brown eyes again saying "Thank you”. "No problem, anytime!”.
Y/n: Yes I did! Thank you for asking.
Even though it wasn't the best day at least Peter made it better for you.
Your dad moved his mouth to say thank you and something else you didn't quite get to Peter probaby a secret only they knew about?
You looked at him and smiled, curious to know about the secret and left.
This is chapter one (the first day) I hope you liked it. There is more to come. I know this is a little boring but it gets more interesting I promise! Have fun with chapter 2!✨💕
Duckies in Kentucky
Todoroki Shouto x Reader
Warnings: Swearing
Date Posted: 2/14/21
A/N: One of my friends told "It's all fucky in Kentucky" and now we're here. I honestly didn't meant to post this on Valentine's Day too. Whatever, it's fine😌 The ending is kinda rushed too. Also this is like a fem reader but I'm pretty sure I didn't use any female pronouns. I don't know how that works, but it does.
Tumblr media
When you got into the Hero Course you were looking to become a Pro-Hero. You weren't interested in the guys or girls in your class, or even your school. You didn't want to date and that was that.
Unfortunately for you Mina just happened to be one of your best friends. Mina loved talking about crushes and boys and to put it short you thought that stuff was pointless. She knew this but that doesn't stop her from sharing gossip about, well anything. You didn't mind it though.
You've gotten use to her skipping over to you and sharing the lastest news she found out. Occasionally, there would be some information that you found interesting or somewhat important. Whenever that happens you tuck it into a small part your brain so you don't forget about it.
"Hey, Y/n!" You looked behind you to see Mina and some of the other girls walking towards you.
"Hi, you need something?"
"Umm.. kind of??" You slightly tilted your head and furrowed your brows at Mina's words.
"We're taking a bet at how far Denki will do stupid things." Jirou told you noticing your confusion. "We were wondering if you wanted in. All of the girls are doing it."
"Sure, how much money is everyone getting."
"Oh, we're not getting money. The winner gets to choose a punishment for the losers." Momo chimed in.
You paused and made a deadpanned expression. "Who spent all their money?"
A few girls gulped knowing that it was them. Others stiffened and didn't make eye contact with you. You sighed knowing that Mina and Hagaruke probably dragged everyone to the mall to go shopping.
"Whatever. I bet that Denki will stop once he hurts himself." Once you got outside you saw Denki standing there stretching. Apparently, Denki will do a bunch of stupid things and once he says he's done you'll know who won the bet.
You were told everyone else's bets. All of you then went to join up with the rest of the girls outside.
Once you got outside you saw Denki standing there stretching. Apparently, Denki will do a bunch of stupid things and once he says he's done you'll know who won the bet.
~~~~~~~~~~
It's been hours full for stupidity. Hours. You and a bunch of other girls already lost the bet. Denki had bruises from the stupid things he was doing. Mostly from the prank he pulled on Bakugou.
You watched Denki yawn and trying to stay awake. It was one in the morning and all of the girls that already lost the bet left to go to bed. Only Mina, Tsu, Jirou, and you were the only people still watching Denki. You could leave, but you wanna see who wins so you can expect who's going to make you suffer.
So far Jirou, Mina, and Tsu were the only people that had a chance at winning. Jirou bet that he'd go until he died. Mina bet that he'd go until he passes out. Tsu bet that he's going to be done once he runs across campus naked. You doubt that Jirou would win with her bet, but you never know with the guy.
You think Tsu would take mercy on you. Mina definitely wouldn't. She's going to make you do something stupid if she wins.
And then it happens. You watch as Denki falls backwards and passed out. There was a a tense silence. The four of you found out who the winner was. It was Mina and she's going to give all of you punishments that will suck.
"I will show you mercy today girls and give you your punishments tomorrow." Mina said through a yawn. "I'm going to bed. Watching Denki do all that stuff made me tired."
All four of you stood up and stretch after sitting down for a while. You said your good night's to each other and made your way to you dorms. You were dreading tommorow, not ready for Mina's punishment for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up feeling more tired than when you went to bed. Thankfully it was the weekend so you could just roll over and fall back asleep. Right as you were about to drift off again you heard a knock on your dorm door. You stayed quiet hoping they would think you're still sleeping or something.
Apparently, someone didn't like you hoping and they knocked on your door again. You quietly groaned and rolled out of bed.
You got and opened the door ready to beat someone's ass for not letting you sleep. "What?" You growled out at the person.
"Time to receive your punishment~" Mina sang out, looking way too cheerful for your liking. "Come on. All of the girls are gathered downstairs waiting to receive theirs too."
You went back into your room and grabbed a blanket. You wrapped it around yourself and walked out of your dorm closing it behind you. "It's fucking cold." You grumbled out making sure Mina heard your complaint.
She rolled her eyes. "Oh hush you're fine." You just stuck your tongue out at her.
Once you reached the common room you saw all of the girls gathered there. Dread was on their faces. They knew that they should have gave better bets, especially if Mina would have been the one to win.
"Let's get started, yeah?" Mina clapped her hands together in excitement. She walked over to Hagaruke and smiled mischievously. "I'll start with you." Hagakure gulped.
It's like Mina already had punishments ready for certain people. She did have the entire night to let her imagination run wild though. Some of her punishments were oddly merciful while others were just plain embarrassing. You know for a fact that she will make you do something related to the latter.
"Y/n, dear. What am I going to do with you?" You tensed hearing your name, not quite ready for what she's going to say. "Oh! I know. You know how you sit in front of Todoroki?" You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, but still nodded your head.
"You are going to turn around and say one word to him. You can't say anything else to him for the rest of the day. You will do this every day until you say the entire phrase I give you. For example, if I told you to tell him 'Denki is a dumbass. On Monday you would tell him 'Denki'. Tuesday you would tell him 'is' and so on. You get it?"
You nodded your head in understanding of what you have to do. It seemed easy enough. What you were worried about now was what she was going to make you say.
"What you have to tell him is 'Funky duckies are getting fucky in Kentucky.' You'll start this on Monday when we're in class. If you fail to tell him one word from the phrase one day then I am able to give you a worse punishment."
"Is that even s rule?" You sighed knowing that she would make you say something stupid. You've never talked to Todoroki before except for when either of you ask for a pencil from each other. That usually has a max of 7 words exchanged though.
"You dare doubt me? Of course it's a rule. Momo, my servant, feed me grapes," Mina clapped her hands twice. She's on a power trip. You watched as Momo resigned to her fate and went to get grapes.
"I barely even talk to the guy and you want me to say a word to him for 7 days to make a stupid ass sentence?" You looked at her, a judgemental tone filled your words.
"Yes, that's exactly what I want you to do." Mina gave you a smile, you saw a hint of something in her eyes. It disappeared as fast as it came, but you had a feeling there was more to this than she was telling you.
It's not like you were mad about what she's making you do. In fact your glad that you got something easier and less embarrassing than other girls. You were just pissed that Mina dragged you down here when you were about to fall back asleep. Especially since it's fucking freezing in the common room. You snuggled into your blanket a bit more when you started shivering. You looked outside to see it was dark outside still.
You paused. It was dark outside? "Mina? What time is it?"
You asking the time got other girls wondering what time it was too. How did mine of you notice it was dark outside? "Oh it is currently.... ummm..... It may possibly be... 5 in the morning."
You got up and went to your dorm, glaring at Mina for dragging you out of you dorm before it was even noon. You heard some of the girls get up to go back to bed too.
When you finally got to your dorm you flopped onto your bed and pulled the blankets over you. You couldn't help but to start thinking. Your mind was flying around making sure you have done stuff and making a mental list of what you need to do.
Your mind then went to Todoroki. How will he react to you saying one thing to him for a week to make a stupid sentence? Would he be weirded out? It's not like you cared but you still felt nervous. Talking to people is definitely not your forte. At least it's only a word a day. With that you fell back asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~
Your eyes squinted open at the sound of your alarm. You grabbed your phone and turned off the alarm, yawning during the process. You swung you legs over the bed sitting in the edge of you matress.
You looked through your notifications, while slowly waking up. One particular message caught your eye. It was from Mina.
Pink Alien Bitch👽
Today's the day! Good luck Y/n~
You sighed and stood up. Once you finished doing your morning routine, you grabbed your bag and headed down to the common room. When you got there you saw a few of your classmates.
You saw Jirou pouring a cup of coffee. She looked up and saw you. She wordlessly grabbed another mug and filled it up with coffee for you.
"Have I ever told you that I'm in love with you?" You said as you grabbed the mug from her.
"It's been mentioned once or twice." You could hear the amusement in her voice. You took a sip of coffee making sure not to burn your tongue.
"Well I'll mention it again." She huffed out a laugh.
You had plenty of time before class started so you talked with Jirou to kill some time. When the both of you seemed like it was a good time to leave you grabbed your bag and walked outside of the dorms. It was only a five minute walk to the school so you were able to get to class with 10 minutes to spare.
Your day went on like normal and you completely forgot about the bet. Before you knew it it was lunch.
"So Y/n, have you started your bet yet?" Uraraka asked making all the attention from the table turn to you.
"Bet?" Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Then it clicked. "Oh, oh. The bet. No I haven't yet. I forgot about it."
Uraraka giggled, "You should start it in our next class so Mina can't give you a punishment that's worse. Trust me she can be evil enough that it can pass even the greatest of villains." She muttered out the last sentence, talking from experience. Poor Uraraka got one of the worst punishments out of everyone.
"Yeah I'll do it later." You smiled at her. "Did you do your punishment?" Uraraka groaned and shook her head solemnly.
~~~~~~~~~~
It was after lunch and everyone was filing into the classroom. You sit in front of Todoroki so it'll be easy just to turn around and say something.
What was the sentence again? Oh yeah, 'Funky duckies are getting fucky in Kentucky.'
You say in your seat and started waiting for Todoroki sit down. When he finally sat down you waited a few moments. You turned around in your seat and looked at him. Todoroki looked up at the sudden movement and made eye contact with you. You had a blank look on your face. Todoroki was silently questioning you with his eyes.
You unintentionally looked him up and down and said your one word, "Funky."
You turned around in your seat. You got a glimpse of Todoroki's confused face when you were turning around. You felt embarrassed. You looked at one of the most arguably attractive guys in U.A and called him funky.
Todoroki on the other hand was so confused. Should he be offended? Were you talking about something that was behind him? He looked behind him and saw the wall. Just as he was about to tap your shoulder to ask what you were talking about Aizawa came in and started the lesson.
~~~~~~~~~~
The next few days were the same. You stared at his face with a blank expression and said only one word then turned around in your seat. Everytime Todoroki would ask you what you were talking about, class would start again. The only difference everyday was that the word would change.
Todoroki was so confused. It was such a random word everyday. What did this all mean!? Being the overthinker Todoroki is, he started trying to figure out what you were doing.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Fucky."
You turned around. Aizawa started class. No time to ask you what you were talking about.
All of this started roughly five days ago. So far the words you have told him were 'Funky,' 'Duckies,' 'Are,' 'Getting,' and today's word, 'Fucky.' Wait. If you put all of the words together you get 'Funky duckies are getting fucky.' What is that suppose to mean? Todoroki paused his racing mind for a moment.
Didn't all of the girls participate in a bet on Saturday? Yes they did. Uraraka was talking about it. She said Mina won the bet and they had to do a punishment that she gave them. Could this be this the punishment Mina gave Y/n then? I'll try to talk to Y/n after school today. It won't be easy though, she's surprisingly good at avoiding people.
~~~~~~~~~~
After class you were quick to get packed up and out of the class. You had a weird sense of dread and you've learned from experience that something is going to happen. Something that's most likely going to be bad.
"Y/n!" You heard someone shout your name. You recognized that voice. Oh no. Oh no no no. Why is he following you now? You only had 2 days left.
You picked up your pace, hoping Todoroki would take the hint that you didn't want to talk. Apparently he didn't know that walking faster meant 'Don't talk to me!'
He started jogging, trying to catch you before you picked your pace up again. Hearing his footsteps get closer and before you knew it you were sprinting down the halls. You started taking sharp turns, hoping to lose him.
Your wandering around the school to learn and memorize where each hall, room, closet, and exit finally paid off. Sadly, Todoroki's legs were longer than yours so he could easily keep up with you. You ran through the exit you were trying to get to and picked up your pace now that you were outside and less people.
Todoroki seemed to have a similar idea. He used his ice to make him go faster. Before you knew it he caught up to you and grabbed you arm. Due to the sudden transition of going forward fast to being pulled back you lost balance and started falling. Todoroki caught you before you collided with the pavement.
"Why were you running from me?" Todoroki said between breaths of air.
The bet. The stupid bet that wouldn't allow you to talk more than one word per day to him and if you did Mina could raise hell on you. You pulled away from Todoroki to stand in your own.
Todoroki huffed. "Fine don't answer that question. At least answer this next one then. What's with the saying one word a day thing?"
You contemplated on tellin him as you looked around to see if anyone was near, confusing Todoroki even more. That's when you saw a flash of pink. Your heart dropped. You looked at Todoroki and shook your head, silently saying no. You pointed to your mouth and shook your head.
Todoroki pinched his eyebrows together. "You can't talk?" You rapidly nodded your head. "But you talked to me earlier. Why cant you talk now?" How the hell are you suppose to answer that without talking? "Is it because of that bet thing you and the other girls were doing?" You nodded your head to confirm his suspensions. Todoroki nodded in understanding. "So I was right. That also explains why you were running from me too." There was a uncomfortable silence that followed, at least for you there was. You suddenly found your shoes very interesting to look at. "Umm... Can I ask what the rest of the sentence was?"
You looked up and saw the curiosity glisten in Todoroki's eyes. Still not taking any chances, you shook your head. You couldn't help but laughing a little. This situation was so bizarre.
Todoroki felt his heart beat a bit fast at your smile. "I'm glad Mina made this your punishment." You looked and furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. Todoroki looked to the side as a blush appeared on his cheeks. Why did he feel so nervous all of a sudden? "Everyday you would turn around and stare at me for a few seconds. In that time I got to admire how pretty you are."
Todoroki's compliment made your face feel like it was burning. As you were trying to figure out how to say thank you without actually saying it, you heard someone gasp behind you.
Both you and Todoroki looked in the direction of where the sound came from to see Mina standing there grinning evilishly at you. "Oh Y/n~ I hope you werent saying anythingyou weren't suppose to." Mina said in a singsongy voice.
You groaned, "I don't know, am I allowed to say how stupid I think this dare is? Don't you try to twist this either. I'm not allowed to say more than one word a day to Todoroki, but I'm still able to talk to you."
"Aww, man. I was hoping to change your new punishment to making my TodoY/n ship set sail across the oceans of the world." Mina pouted, putting her hands on her hips. She looked oddly proud too.
Your mouth opened and closed and your cheeks started to burn even hotter. You dared a glance at Todoroki to see him looking in the opposite direction of you. You could clearly see his red ears though.
"Please, you guys are so cute together and you're my OTP. Give it a chance. One date? It's not even a punishment, Y/n. Look at the cute boy!" At this point Mina was in front of you both on her knees begging.
"I'm willing to give it a chance." Todoroki mumbled, still not looking at you. Mina then looked at you and made puppy eyes.
You shoved her face away and crossed your arms, looking to the opposite direction of Todoroki. "How am I suppose to go on a date if i cant even talk to the person, Mina?"
Mina shot up from her place on the ground and grabbed your hands, "You'll start sailing my ship if I take away your punishment?" You gave a nod which made her start cheering. "Your punishment is officially ended. Now please go on a date." You never thought that would actually work and you looked at Todoroki to see if he was just as surprised as you.
Turns out he wasn't, he was confused of why she's so happy. He looked at you for answers and you just shrug and smiled. It is Mina you're talking about anyway.
~~~~~~~~~
"What was the sentence anyway?" Todoroki intertwined your hands together as he looked at you questionly.
You flashed him a smile, "Don't worry about it."
"What? No, Y/n. You have to tell me." Todoroki gently pinched your cheek.
You slapped away his hand and brought your nose to his. He was fully prepared to get a kiss from you and pouted when you stopped just before. You whispered a single word, "Funky."
Todoroki watched as you ripped away from him and booked it out the door. He quickly jumped up from the couch to chase you. He'll eventually find out what the sentence was. It'll just take 7 days.
 Being the new kid sucked, everyone knew this. Even if you ended up popular as the new kid it sucked.
It was even worse if you had laser eyes that could kill people, and you had to wear sunglasses all the time.
That’s how it was for Scott Summers, younger brother of Alex Summers. Scott was a mess— he just moved from Ohio to Xavier’s in New York, and he barely knew anything about it! His brother didn’t say much to him about Xavier’s— hell he wasn’t even around much. When he was though, he tried to spend time with Scott and be a good big brother, make his parents proud and crap.
So when Scott got a mutation and destroyed the boy’s bathroom at his school, Alex picked him up and took him to New York.
-
Scott’s first night was rather… odd. He couldn’t see, and he bumped into some weird chick who could read minds. Not to mention the building shook during the night.
Scott didn’t have a roommate, so he had no one to ask questions. No one to help him around the building. No one to be his friend.
Okay, he wasn’t that lonely. He didn’t need a roommate to make friends at school. He just needed to get out. Except he couldn’t see.
-
The next day he was taken outside by Dr. McCoy.
“I made you some glasses… They should help you reflect the beam and trap them in the ruby quartz, so you can see.”
Scott didn’t want to get his hopes up, but he was desperate. To see again would be a goddamn miracle.
He slipped them on and opened his eyes. He saw the sky… the clouds… the trees— it was breathtaking. How he took everything for granted! He was a fool.
“Thank you, Professor. Thank you!” Everything was red in some way, shape, or form, but he couldn’t care less about that. He could see and that was the most important thing.
“I’m not a professor…” Hank mumbled. “Yeah, no, of course. Of course. I’m glad they worked.”
“Dr. McCoy! Alex said you needed me.”
Scott looked at her. She had all normal features, so her mutation had to be something mental or along those lines.
“Did he say what for?”
She didn’t confirm or deny his question. “He said you’d be outside with Scott and I had to help him out since he was new and stuff.”
Does she think I’m a charity project? Does Alex Think I’m that dependent? “You don’t have to do that.”
“Uh, I kinda do… It’s either me or Jubilee at the moment, and trust me, Jubilee is not the match for you. You pissed her best friend off so now she kinda hates you.”
“I’m sorry?” What did he even do? Was Jubilee’s friend the girl Scott ran into yesterday?
“Jean Grey, you bumped into her yesterday. She’s over there by the tree.” (Y/N) motioned to the tree.
“Oh.” Scott felt sheepish. He didn’t mean to snap at her. He just wasn’t in the best of mindsets. Also, he really didn’t want any enemies at his new school.
“We can go talk to her if you want. I’m sure she won’t be mad, just tell her it was a misunderstanding.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, come on,” (Y/N) made her way over to the tree and Scott followed.
“Hey, Jean.”
“Hey (Y/N).” She didn’t look up from her schoolwork. “Scott.”
“Hi. Hi, um… look I wanted to apologize—“
A group of smaller kids was standing a ways away from the tree, but near enough, so they could be heard.
“Look, it’s her!”
“Careful she might cause an earthquake!”
“She’s dangerous.”
Scott saw the kids and thought they were afraid of him and his eyes, as he scared a couple of people yesterday. “Hey! It’s okay now. I got special glasses. I can see.”
“It’s not you, they’re afraid of,” Jean stated.
(Y/N) tried to hide her eye roll. “It’s not that bad. They’re little, they’re scared of everyone.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Scott asked. “Wait… last night…”
Jean frowned, “Yep, that was me.”
“You made the building shake.”
Jean nodded, “you’re not the biggest freak in school.”
(Y/N) looked between the two. Did Jean have a crush on Scott already? He’d only been at Xavier’s for two days!
“Guess not… Um look, about yesterday—“
“It’s fine. I get it.” She waved him off.  “When your mutation first happens it’s a lot of stress and stuff.”
“Yeah but, I was a dick. I was wondering if we could start over?”
Jean was taken back by Scott’s request. She never thought he’d apologize.
“Oh, yeah. Of course, we can.” They shook hands and exchanged names.
“And I’m (Y/N).”
“Um…”
“(Y/N), we know that…” Jean stated.
“Yeah, well I wanted to feel included.”
“Okay.”
-
Scott, you had decided, was going to be so much fun. He knew his way around the mall and wasn’t half bad at Pac-Man. He liked Star Wars and cherry slushies, however, he could only see red due to his glasses, so you had to tell him which was cherry.
Once you got back to the mansion… it was gone.
Everyone was standing out front, but as soon as you arrived it blew up and everyone was outside in the blink of an eye.
Scott pulled over and jumped out of the car, running and screaming for his brother.
“I got everyone.” A guy decked out in silver leather said. Scott glared at him.
“Where’s my brother?”
“I dunno man—“
“WHERE IS HE?” You had to hold Scott back from hurting the silver man. “No, no. No, no… No! NO!”
Jean tried to soothe him with her telepathic abilities, but it didn’t do much, it just got him to shut up. You couldn’t even bask in the silence, as a military helicopter landed on the campus grounds.
“Guys, hide!” Jubilee instructed. You all ran over and hid behind a hunk of stone wall.
“Why are we—“
“Shh!” Jubilee put her hand over your mouth. The helicopter shot a sound wave of some sort, causing everyone closest to it to get knocked out. A man in military gear shouted at soldiers to collect certain people. He only wanted adults and you could only recognize one of them— Hank McCoy.
-
Kurt got you all into the helicopter, but couldn’t get you out. You thought you were going to die, but that wasn’t the thing on everyone’s minds.
Scott was grieving over his brother whom he presumed dead. He was crying silent tears.
Comfort him. Jean urged you. You weren’t sure how, or if that’s what he needed, but you had no other options.
You placed a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to show support and in return he hugged you tightly, still crying. You were slightly taken aback at first, but you returned the hug, rubbing his back to try and calm him.
“He was supposed to do great things… Do something with his life. He shouldn’t have… He didn’t deserve to die!”
“That’s not what he thought. He thought you were going to do great things, make something of yourself. Why do you think he brought you here?”
He wiped his nose with his sleeve, “How do you know that?”
“Scott, he told me. He told Hank and Hank said I was the best kid to show you around, and then Alex went on and on about everything great about you and how smart and talented you were and how proud he was of you. He was so proud of you.”
Scott wiped his tears away and nodded, trying to stop crying and pull himself together for whatever would happen next in the helicopter.
-
Then Apocalypse happened. The fight with Apocalypse, where you were told to go batshit crazy with your mutations and fight. You felt alive, even with the weight of the world resting on you winning.
There was so much happening, you couldn’t keep track of anyone but yourself. You had gotten hit badly a few times, but you had to trudge through.
Jean and Xavier defeated Apocalypse with their powers— it was cool what Jean did. Scary, but cool. They both nearly passed out due to the strain it took on them.
You ended up back at the pile of rock left of the mansion, most of the students in a state of panic, but all in awe when seeing everyone in the armor, mutations on full display.
You didn’t want to get Scott’s hopes up, but you couldn’t find Alex, no matter what you did. He had to be dead, under the rock somewhere.
You held his hand, giving it a caring squeeze. “I’m sorry.”
“I’ll have to tell my parents once Jean and Magento finish rebuilding the mansion.”
“Yeah…”
-
The mansion was almost finished, and there was no sign of Alex. You and Scott had given up hope, but for some reason, Hank persisted. “He can’t… He can’t be dead! This wasn’t supposed to happen!”
And then you realized Hank wasn’t completely crazy after all.
A body was trapped under the basement when Jean and Erik were rebuilding. Everyone thought it was Alex. It was Alex, but you weren’t sure if he was alive.
“He’s unconscious, but he’s alive.”
Scott jumped up and hugged Hank, thanking him for everything and for finding Alex.
“He means a lot to us both. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him.”
Obviously, an unconscious mind takes time to wake up, and Scott wasn’t allowed to stay at Alex’s side all day. Charles made sure he knew that wasn’t allowed, and he used you to keep track and make sure he wasn’t sneaking down at odd hours of the night or skipping class to see him.
You offered to help Scott set up his room, mostly because you didn’t care much about yours for the time being.
“You have a lot of old rock albums.” You stated while placing them all on his bookshelf.
“Most of them were Alex’s.”
“That’s cool. Did he give you all his old stuff?”
“Uh, yeah. Most of it, anyway. I have some of his old clothes— leather jackets and stuff, mostly.”
“Oh, that’s really cool. I guess you guys were close.”
He nodded, “Yeah, close as we could get, anyway, with the large age gap and all. I really care about him.”
Peter, Scott’s new roommate and the silver guy who saved everyone from the mansion explosion, came in with some of his own stuff.
“Hey, guys.”
“Hi, Pete.” You greeted back.
“Look, Scott—“
“It’s okay. I know what you’re going to say.”
“No,” Peter shook his head, “I feel awful about it. Forgetting your brother like that. I’m so sorry. If it were me and someone forgot my sisters in a situation like that, I’d get super angry.”
Scott shrugged, “It’s okay. You got everyone else though— and that’s a lot of people.”
“Alright… Friends?” He held out his hand for Scott to shake.
“Friends.”
They shook on it, and you tried not to laugh at how cheesy the motion was, but you still let out a comment.
“You’re roommates. You kinda have to be friends.”
“Huh, I guess so,” Peter mused.
-
Alex woke up almost two months after the Apocalypse battle. You and Scott were the first to run down and see him. He was in rough condition, but he was alive nonetheless.
“Hey, Scott.” Alex croaked out.
Scott hugged him tightly, “You’re so stupid! I was so worried! Hank was worried, we all freaked out— never do that again.”
“You don’t have to worry about me. It’s supposed to be the other way around.”
“You almost died! Of course, I’m going to worry about you.”
Alex mumbled something back, but you didn’t hear it.
Hank was there too, contributing to the conversation until Xavier came down and told you all to leave Alex alone so he could rest.
-
As time went on, you kept an eye on Scott. You were in the same friend group, so that was inevitable.
You got extremely close— closer than almost anyone else in the group, minus Jubilee and Jean. You told each other about your worries, secrets, past troubles, and your crushes. Scott, despite his persona of a douchebag with sunglasses, or token white guy in an action film, was sweet and empathetic, and smart. He took two AP classes and spent more time training than anyone else.
“I just want to get control of my mutation and throw better punches.”
“I know. Just don’t overwork yourself.”
He always said, “Don’t worry about me. I won’t.” But you always worried. He was probably your best friend at the mansion, of course, you’d worry!
-
Winter break came closer and closer with every passing day, which meant midterms were right around the corner.
Everyone was stressed— downing immortal amounts of caffeine, watching the sunrise and set every day, and rereading notes until their brains exploded.
Scott was not excused from this, and the night before his first final he was up way past any reasonable hours, studying.
There was a somewhat-quiet knock on the door, and Scott barely acknowledged it.
“Hey, dork.”
“Can’t talk.”
You huffed, “You’re no fun.”
“Sorry, but I really cannot fail any finals.”
“Scotty, you’ve been studying every second for the past month… C’mon…” You whined.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. You grinned, knowing you’d won.
“Come on, 7/11 is open late. You can get some food and water. Relax from all this stress… Please?”
Scott closed his book and got up out of his chair. “Fine.”
“Yes!” You cheered.
“Let me grab my jacket.”
You were thrilled you got Scott away from his books for a little bit. You needed a break and it felt like you hadn’t seen him as much as usual.
-
You talked the whole walk down to the garage. Scott just listened. He liked listening to you speak— about your day, petty drama with your friends, plus anything and everything in between— Scott likes the sound of your voice, and even if you didn’t know what you were saying, it sounded right. Or it did to him, anyway.
And that was a part of having a best friend, right?
Scott couldn’t tell, but he thought so. He’d never been this close with a friend before, and he had also never had a real crush on anyone before.
Crush? I don’t have a crush on, (Y/N). We’re just close. She’s my best friend…
But how many times had that cliche been fulfilled?
“Scotty?” No response. (Y/N), also couldn’t read his face due to the sunglasses, so she really didn’t know what he was thinking.
“Scott?”
“What?”
You chuckled a little, “You zoned out there, buddy.”
“Oh…” His cheeks were tinted red.
“You, okay?”
He nodded, picking out keys to one of the cars.
“It’s my turn to drive!” You told him.
“Yeah, but it’s my turn to pick out the car,” He retorted.
You rolled your eyes as he tossed you the keys and you unlocked the car.
Scott climbed into the passenger seat and immediately turned on the radio. “So where are we going?”
“7/11. I want a slushie. Plus—“ You glanced at the clock for a moment. “—It’s the only place open.”
Scott hummed in agreement.
You drove in silence for a little bit until you caught Scott staring at you.
 He quickly looked away.
“Is there something on my face?”
“No.” He was curt with his answer.
“Why were you looking at me then?”
“I’ve missed you…”
You smiled. “I’ve missed you too, Sike.”
 You pulled up to the gas station. It was well lit, considering the late hour it was. There were only two or three cars in total parked there.
“I’m gonna get some gas first,” You told Scott as you turned off the car.
He stood there and waited for you.
“What’s Mystique said about our next mission?”
Scott sighed a little, “A lot… there’s a chance we’re going to Germany to bust up the mutant fighting ring, but nothing’s for certain.”
You put the gas pump back in it’s holding spot. “Really? That’s pretty big…”
“Yeah, but, we fought Apocalypse, so—“
“Not everything has to compare. Sure, we don’t have to go local, but we’re allowed to not stop every big bad. It’s just not physically possible.” You held the door open for him.
“Thanks— It’s our responsibility. If we don’t do it, who will?”
You browsed the snack isles, not giving him an answer. Scott stood there, waiting for one, but knowing you probably couldn’t give it.
“Oh! Um, look— you’re one person, Scotty, and we’re a team of like, 12 people. What we accomplish is huge! But we won’t win every battle. Losing sucks, I know, but you can’t stress yourself out over it…”
“I just don’t want to regret anything.” He finally picked out a bag of chips. They were plain as could be.
“I get that, but you can’t spend your whole life doting on ‘what if’s’.”
You put your items on the counter to be rung up. You pulled your card out of your pocket, but Scott stopped you.
“Here, I got it.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, it’s only a couple of dollars.” He handed his card to the cashier.
“Do you guys need a bag?”
“No, we’re good. Thank you though.” You grabbed your drink and snacks and bid the cashier goodnight. Scott did the same.
“So, now what?” Scott asked once he got in the car.
“Let’s just eat in the car. It’s a change of scenery from the mansion.”
“(Y/N), this isn’t a change of scenery, this is a murder scene!”
You laughed, “It’s not dark enough for that!”
Scott huffed.
“Look, if you really wanna die, I can drive us to the park, or Target parking lot.”
“No, no,” Scott said in between sips of his slushie. “This is fine— perfect actually.”
You were smug.
You ate your food in silence for a little bit, exchanging weird glances with Scott.
“What?” You asked, laughing out of confusion.
“You’re really pretty,” Scott admitted.
“Pfft…” You scoffed.
“I mean it… You’re a great friend too…”
“Glad to know we’re best friends cause you think I’m hot,” You joked.
Scott rolled his eyes, knowing you’d never accept the compliment and it was stupid of him to say.
“You know who else is good looking?” You asked.
“Who?” “Rob Lowe.”
“From The Outsiders?” Scott asked in disbelief.
“Mhmm.” You nodded. Scott chuckled.
“Hey! You had a crush on Sara Anne from third hour for the longest time. You have no room to judge.”
“Yeah, and then we went on a date and I got over it… I also had a crush on Jean—”
You nodded, and Scott swiped his drink back. “Yeah, but she’s dating Ororo…”
“Speaking of boys…” You laughed at Scott’s poor attempt to change the subject. “You went out with Warren for two months.”
“What’s wrong with Warren?” You asked defensively.
“Nothing! It was just weird, only two months.”
“I told you.” Scott shook his head. “No? I thought I did. Well, anyway— He was like actually kind of into Jean, and like subconsciously in love with his childhood best friend… Her name was Candy South, I think?”
“Candy Southern?” Scott asked, leaning his chip bag over to you. You took a handful and set it on the center console.
“Yeah! That’s her name.”
“They’re dating right now, she’s nice.”
“Good for him.”
-
You drove back to the mansion around midnight. You went up to your rooms quietly, trying not to wake anyone up and get caught sneaking in.
“I’m sorry for being so busy lately.”
You offered a sad smile, “Not your fault, Scotty.”
“We could hang out this weekend? See what’s at the movie theatre?”
“It’s a date!”
Scott’s mouth gaped open. Your eyes widened in shock. Why did I say that?
“Uh… It’s not like a date date, but like we’re two people, going to the movies alone—”
“It can be a date if you want.”
Your mind went blank. Surely you misheard him.
“Uh, what?”
“I just meant, um, we could— never mind—”
“Do you want it to be a date?” You tried sounding confident in your words, but you were nervous.
“I don’t wanna ruin our friendship…” Scott looked down, avoiding your gaze.
“Scotty, it’s okay.”
He nodded, a little unsure.
“It’s a date.”
“Yeah,” He decided.  “It’s a date.”
Your face moved forward, lips slightly puckered. You placed a kiss on his cheek. Scott’s face turned red like a tomato.
“See ya later, Scotty.”
I remember when I was in middle and high school, how much I thrived in English class. I love to read, but because I’ve read so much in my life. I’ve found out recently that I absolutely love to write.
I love to write little blurb of what a hunt was like, and I’ve taken up journaling. Some people might say that writing things out can make them come alive, but I I personally think that once it out on paper, then it kind of cleans the mind. Declutter my head if you will.
Going through my phone my eyes landed on Pinterest. It wasn’t an app I used very often, but I clicked on it anyway. Going through the process of making an account it asked me what I liked and my interest. I assumed based off what I choose the app would give me different things to look at in my feed.
That is exactly what happened. A few motivational words popped up, and I scrolled through, then a few quotes popped up. But what really caught my attention was the search bar. I wanted to see what other people thought about writing so that’s what I put in the search bar.
I scrolled for a few minutes, and then the word ‘Poems’ popped up. After the years that I’d been writing not once had I tired doing poetry, so I clicked on it. The first poem that was in the stream said the following;
The most
beautiful part is,
I wasn’t even looking
when I found you.
Man, that was so calming and peaceful. A true statement. It made me think of Y/n. The way she just was placed into our life, I hadn’t been looking. I stopped looking when after Jessica died.
I stopped thinking that i deserved to find love. I stopped believing I was worth it. But that was all before Y/n came into my life. She was sweetest person you’ll ever met. She always wears a smile regardless of how bad a situation could get.
She is nerdy like me, she loved to read through the lore books, making it an effort to help me when I couldn’t quite figure something out on my own. The thing about Y/n is she wasn’t just like me, she disappears for hours, in the kitchen cooking with Dean, or making pie for him. She is the best thing to come into our lives since forever.
Again, I started to read through posts on Pinterest. I wondered how many of these posts were meant to be about the girl of someone dreams. I scrolled through seeing a ton of different poems. Some were sad, about how breakable a women’s heart really is. Some on the other hand were about falling in love with the girl of your dreams.
Another poem said;
If you look carefully,
She’s slowly falling in love with you,
But she doesn’t want you to find out,
Well, not yet.”
This makes me think even more about Y/n. Does she love me? Is she falling in love with me and doesn’t want me to find out? Is she falling in love with me, like I am with her? I have so many questions that I couldn’t possibly ask her.
I wonder if she sits in bed like I do and fantasize over her. I sound creepy, but I honestly want to know. I pay attention to her, and her actions. When she’s with Dean she isn’t touchy. When we’re on a hunt, she chooses to sleep in bed with me. She talks about everything with me. Let’s me in, let’s me comfort her.
Is this her way of saying I want to be with you Sam? I once again start to scroll through the feed, looking and reading through all the poems. Coming across another one, this one though made me stop and think. Made me realize a few things more about Y/n.
“Find Someone who makes you realize three things: One, that home is not a place, but a feeling. Two, that time is not measured by a clock, but by moments. And three, that heartbeats are not heard, but felt and shared.”
I realized all of those things when I thought of Y/n. When I was with Y/n no matter where we were I felt at home with her. We could be hundreds of miles away from the bunker, deep in a hunt. As long as she was there, I was happy, content, and at peace.
Number two took me a few times to really figure out. The first time I noticed it was our first Christmas with Y/n. She’d been with us for a whole year, and I couldn’t help but go out and get her something. I went to our local book store, and picked up 3 historical novels, based on what she’d read and what she had with her when she arrived at the bunker. When she opened her gifts, I couldn’t start to describe her smile. And then she dropped her books and run up to me, and crushed in her slender frame. This hug was different than others, the other hugs were ones that were in fear of losing each other, ones that were meant as apologies.
The second time I noticed it was Dean’s birthday. Y/n and I had gone out shopping for Dean first separate and then together. We wanted to get him a gift that suited him. We walked around the mall, both searching for the best store to choose from. “Oh Sammy... oops sorry I meant Sam. Look over there.” She spoke.
Moments like this where she was afraid to be like this way with me. “You can call me Sammy, Y/n. It doesn’t bother me when you do it.” I said involuntarily. I little blush rose to her cheeks, “Okay Sammy. There’s a store looks like a cowboy themed place.” She said walking towards the store.
Rarely would I do something out of my comfort zone, and not ask the other person. But before Y/n could get too far away from me, I grabbed her wrist and slipped our hands together. I made a quick excuse when she turned around and looked down at our hands and then me. “I just don’t want to get lost from you; this place does seem pretty huge.” I had said.
In moments when we were hurt in hunts. Moments where it seemed like we might say goodbye forever. I had Y/n in my arms in the back seat of the impala, she had a huge gash through her back, thankfully nothing had hit any vital organs or hit her spinal cord.
She sat in my lap her hands wrapped around my neck, our hearts pressed tightly together, I was grasping tightly to her. Trying to keep myself tethered to her. I focused on her breathing. Focused on the scent of the peach shampoo that still lingered in her hair.
I would see Dean looking in the back through the mirror. I didn’t have time to deal with his comments so i dropped my gaze, I was trying so hard to not break down, in front of my big brother or Y/n. Y/n needs a strong man, so that’s what I’ll be right now, just for her.
As  i thought about past moments. I realized that I couldn’t keep the charade up anymore, about I felt towards Y/n. Making myself close out of the very calming app, I clicked on to the massaging app.
Sliding the small list of contacts, I did I have. I sent Dean an “goodnight” message before slipping out of our conversation and into Y/n and I conversation. I started to type and then deleted it.
I fell into this rhyme for a what seemed like an hour, of me saying how I felt and then deleting it. I received a “Good night bitch 😴” Message from Dean. I slide it off my screen refocusing on my message to Y/n.
Then all the sudden it clicked in my head. And I started typing my message out. Careful to phrase words the particular way.
“In you, I have finally found all I never dared dream I could deserve or have- the kind of love that is rare. Being known in a way that touches the deepest parts of me. Accepted in a way that blows my mind.”
I sent this part to her. I waited till she has read the massage. Then only a few moments later I saw a message from her pop up.
“Sammy what are you saying?” Y/n asked. So, I started to write the second part of my message.
“In you, Y/n the love I have always desired to give now has a place to call home, I hope? I have been skeptic, but you are my undeniable miracle. The questions don’t matter anymore.” I sent once again waiting for another message back from Y/n.
What I got surprised me. “Come to my room, Sammy.” She sent. I quickly uncovered myself from the thin blanket, and slipped on a Henley, along with my slippers.
I opened my door, and pretty much ran down the hall way, my phone still tightly placed in my hand. I slowed down as I made my way in front of Y/n’s door. I knocked and was granted access.
“Come in Sammy.” She said in her cute voice. I walked in, and shut the door softly. Before turning on my heels and standing still. “You can come over here and sit down with me Sammy.” So, I did as she said.
I walked over and sat down next to her. “So, Sammy, what did you mean by your message?” She asked grabbing my much larger hand with her much smaller hand.
I hadn’t ever noticed that, but instead of answering Y/n question I found our hands more interesting. “Sammy?” She said once again, but her voice was softer and quiet.
“I hope to god I’m not stepping over a boundary, but what I was trying to say was that I think... Wait No I know that I’ve fallen for you more deeply than I think I can understand. And I hope that you feel the same way?” I said rubbing my calloused thumb over the knuckles on her left hands.
“Sammy, I think I’ve fallen in love with you too.” Y/n said. Smiling showing off her bright eyes, and dimples on her cheeks.
“We have finally found each other, and that is enough. Right?” I said still a little worried I might say something wrong and ruin that whole moment.
“Yeah Sammy, I hop... I know that it’s enough, because when I’m with you I fell at peace and I wouldn’t want anything else then that.” She spoke. I brought my hand up to her cheek cupping it in my hand, and brought her close to my chest.
I kissed her lips, and god if it wasn’t the most intoxicating thing, I’ve ever tasted. I would be lying, she tasted like dark chocolate, and honey. Our lips didn’t fight for dominance, it was just a sweet kiss. Something that made this moment just so much more real.
“God, I love you so much Winchester.” Y/n said against my lips. I only smiled and whispered into her lips “I love you too, Y/L/N”  “And don’t worry I’ll keep Dean from teasing the both of us.” I spoke.
~*~*~*~
It was towards the end of July when the official funeral for your step-dad was held. There had been a service for all those who were killed in the fire a week before. One you ended up getting dragged into. Not that it was bad, Steve went with you. Though, it was clear he was just as keen to be there as you were.
Though, being at an actual funeral felt somehow worse. Steve kind of felt he had been to the worst one already when he went to Billy Hargrove’s a couple of days ago. He specifically told you that you shouldn't go. That he was mostly there to watch out for the kids. It was understandable. You remembered that Hargrove had a step-sister and if Steve felt like he could be helpful, you didn’t want to intrude. Especially when you wouldn’t have known anyone all that well.
Steve also insisted on going to your step-dad’s funeral when the time came as well. Not because he thought you needed him the way you needed someone at Barb’s funeral, but because he didn’t want you to be there alone. While you would have had your mom, she was so busy dealing with all the serious arrangements that you wouldn’t have wanted to give her any stress.
The only thing she let you handle were the flower arrangements. Most of which was dark red, almost black roses and assortments of white flowers. You never knew what sorts of things he liked. In all fairness, he never bothered to tell you much.
You tried to ask Tommy, just to see if grief changed him any. It only made him angrier. Your working theory was that he was convinced his dad left everything to your mom instead of him. Which was a possibility, but you knew that he’d turn out fine. He was leaving for college and with his dad gone, you were pretty sure that you were never going to see him much again after the funeral. That only made you look forward to it that much more.
All you wanted was for him to no longer be in your life. After all the things he did and comments he made and how much he came in between you and all the things you wanted to say and do, you probably should have wanted more. Maybe it would have made sense for you to have wished he had been the one to die in the fire, but you didn’t. He was so close to being gone and you could only be glad for that.
After all, had he not gotten his dad to vouch for him, you were pretty sure he would have been staying in Hawkins like Steve. Though, you were glad Steve was staying for a while. It meant there was time for both of you. No, you were never going to get him walking up to you at your locker or have him hold your hand as he walked you to class, but that was okay. What mattered was that you had him now and it made all the difference in the world to you.
With how nice it was outside, the actual burial was taking a long time as people talked to each other, trying to console your mom for her loss. It made you want to roll your eyes out of your head.
“You know, like, a month ago all these people were still calling my mom a cheating slut behind her back,” you said, leaning up against a tree.
Steve nodded, “Yeah, I know.”
“What, were your parents saying that?”
“Uh, yeah, they did… not that I really hear them talk much,” he sighed, “But, my mom always worries that my old man’s gonna divorce her for some younger woman like Tommy’s dad did.”
You nodded, “That makes sense… I just wish people wouldn’t be so damn nice about it now. It’s so fake and patronizing. And all for some guy who wasn’t even that great anyway.”
“Do you wanna get out of here for a bit?”
“Steve, I should at least stay-”
“Not out, out. Just maybe to someone else’s grave?” he took your hand, “Come on, I think you could use a few minutes somewhere else.”
You were pretty sure you knew where he was going with this, so you went ahead and followed Steve through the cemetery. It was pretty this time of year with many trees giving shade. Families still left all sorts of flowers on graves and the grass was well-kept.
Sure enough, Steve led you right to where Barb’s headstone was. The grave was relatively well-kept, though the Hollands ended up moving to the next town over. Enough for a fresh start, but also close to where their daughter was.
“I really hope ghosts are real,” you said softly.
Steve nodded, “I’m sure they are.”
“Well, if they are… I really hope Barb’s doing okay. I- I still think about her a lot. The things I said and the things I wish I’d said instead had I known I was never gonna see her again,” you took a shaky breath, “I don’t think I’m ever going to feel like I’m actually over it.”
He wrapped an arm around you, “I know what you mean.”
“How? Sorry, I- I just… I never really thought you missed her all that much.”
“I guess it’s not that I miss her. Well, not in the same way you do. It’s more in the way I really wish I didn’t have that party. And how I miss being able to look at my pool and just see a pool. Instead, all I think about is her and whatever she must’ve gone through.”
You leaned into Steve, “Did she disappear there?”
“Probably… no one really knows how it all happened.”
Every day it felt like Steve was getting closer and closer to telling you what happened. He would let odd and end details in. Though, none of it was enough for you to figure out what happened. It was enough at this point that you were pretty sure it was worse than whatever chemical leak the lab got accused of.
Still, no matter how curious you got or how badly you wanted to know everything, you weren’t going to make Steve say anything that he didn’t want to. It was enough that you knew he was going to tell you. Or that if he never told you, it wasn’t because he was trying to dupe you. It was because he simply couldn’t bring himself to talk about every awful thing that had ever happened within the last couple of years.
“Oh, um, I think I forgot to leave this at your stepdad’s grave,” Steve said, pulling out a white chrysanthemum from the inside of his suit jacket.
You felt him press it into your hands, “Oh, did you want me to leave it here?”
“Whatever you want. You could put it in my hair if you’d like,” he suggested, grinning.
You rolled your eyes, though you couldn’t help but chuckle a bit as you knelt down and set the flower at Barb’s grave. Hopefully, she somehow knew that you still cared about her after all this time. That while it didn’t sting to the same degree, you knew that most of the damage could never be fixed. Not really.
“Is it okay if I tell you what happened to Barb?” Steve asked, sitting down on the grass.
You moved over to sit next to him, “Of course, if- if you’re ready, I wanna know.”
“Okay, well, I just don’t want you to get mad at me for not telling you when I knew. ‘Cause I’ve known a lot longer than you have and I’ve beaten myself up over it every day, but I really thought that telling you the truth was going to get you hurt,” he ran a hand through his hair, “I- I know it’s stupid, but I was told I couldn’t tell you. Technically, I’m still not supposed to, but you saw what happened at the mall and… it’s all connected and you deserve to know.”
You held his hand, “Well, you’re telling me now, aren’t you?”
“Yeah, you’re right, I am. Um, do you remember how Will Byers disappeared around the same time?” Steve asked.
He explained everything that he knew about the Demogorgon. At least, that was the name the kids gave it. How it went between dimensions and hunted people. It was attracted to blood and Barb had just the luck of cutting herself at his party. Something that he never thought would have been a big deal. He never even invited her, Nancy just insisted she come. In hindsight, Steve still didn’t get it, but it didn’t matter because she ended up getting killed either way.
No one knew if she died due to exposure to the other dimension or if she was eaten. Well, if anyone knew, they never told Steve about it. In all fairness, at the time he only cared about not getting into trouble for that said stupid party. He hadn’t realized how bad things truly had been.
Steve even tried to explain why he had cut you off so many times at that time. Right when you needed someone the most, he knew he couldn’t be around you when you were that hurt by what happened to Barb. It would have only made him more guilty.
“I know I shouldn’t have said those things, and you were smart for not wanting anything to do with me at the time,” Steve said.
You frowned, “You were grieving too. I never thought about that… I mean, you were still a total asshole, but I thought you were just doing it because you could. Because you wanted to just hurt me even more. I- I’m so glad that I was wrong about all of that.”
“I’m still so sorry that I said those things. That I told you she wasn’t going to come back. I knew she was dead and- well, hearing you talk about her like she just went on a road trip was hard to hear.”
You nodded slowly, “Yeah, I never really thought about that.”
“Of course you didn’t. I’d be surprised if you put all the clues together on your own. I- I wanted to tell you, just so you know. I felt awful about never telling you what happened. Like, when I saw you biking all the way out-”
“Why didn’t you tell me then?”
“Well, I um… I didn’t think you’d believe me,” he said, shrugging, “Plus, if I didn’t let you do some sort of digging, I figured you’d just try the whole thing again and- I couldn’t leave you on the side of the road like that in the first place.”
“I mean, I guess you’re right,” you admitted, squeezing his hand.
In all fairness, you wouldn’t have believed almost anything that Steve told you. Though, it made a lot more sense. That entire first year after Barb went missing made sense. How Nancy and Jonathan seemed to both be aware of something completely unknown to you, that wasn’t you going crazy. You noticed all those weird things because there were weird things happening around you.
You took a look at the watch Steve wore, “We should probably get back, or I should anyways.”
“I’ll go with,” he replied as he got up, helping you off the grass, “I heard there was supposed to be some really good food after all this funeral stuff.”
You laughed as you got up and walked back to where everyone else was. No one seemed to notice that the two of you had been gone for a while. It seemed like people really had been shaken by this happening to someone they knew. Though, most of the town was in that boat. Around thirty people had been killed by whatever happened that night. You just knew it was a lot more complicated than some fire.
The funeral eventually ended and time continued to press onward. It was getting to be August once more and it was a lot better than the first time you tried to be with Steve. He was a lot more open, even if he didn’t explain himself completely. That wasn’t what you wanted. What you wanted was for him to know that he could trust you and that you cared about him.
Some nights, the strange monster would haunt your dreams and it would force you awake in the middle of the night. Steve wasn’t always there when you woke up, but he was always ready to answer the phone. Then, he would sneak up into your room and hold you close until you officially calmed down.
While you didn’t mention it, you thought it was stupid of you to be so hung up over something you saw. Something that didn’t even feel real. Steve was the one who dealt with all that. It made sense for him to be so shaken up about it. Though, you knew he would have insisted that you had every right to be scared of that thing. You would have been an idiot to not be scared of that sort of thing.
One morning, you were in the garden, watering some red tulips when Steve came in. He tended to pop in whenever. While the summer was nearing an end, you saw a lot more of him than you had before. Sometimes it was with the kids or with Robin, but he was getting paid rather nicely after losing his job since the place burned to the ground.
You two got plenty of time alone, but you were used to that. What you weren’t used to was him holding your hands in front of the kids he watched while Dustin would make some comment about it. While it was a quick way to make your face heat up and look at the floor, it also meant that Steve cared about you enough to show you to other people. That was more than you ever expected in the past.
“So… before everything at the mall, did you ever see anything weird that you couldn’t explain?” he asked, leaning on one of the tables inside your greenhouse.
You shrugged, “I don’t know, what constitutes weird?”
“Uh, let’s say something you saw once and then never again. Something you always had questions about but never got an answer that made sense, those types of things.”
You stood there and looked around, trying to think of something. The last couple of years had been so odd and you never expected to get a serious answer to your questions. Yet Steve was right there, always more than happy to offer an explanation at this point.
“Oh! I got it, back around last Halloween, when all the farmers lost their crops, everything I had planted in the ground just went rotten. Our new tree died and it was from some weird, slimy fungus. I think it was from some slugs I caught on a couple of plants, but they were really odd slugs too.”
Steve  looked at you, “Wait, you saw actual slugs? Were they normal and you just didn’t recognize them or… what?”
“Well, I don’t know, they didn’t have the right coloring and they were hiding in some of the shadiest, darkest parts of the greenhouse which made it so hard to find them and throw them out,” you explained, “Wait, why do you ask?”
Steve took a deep breath, “You’ll wanna sit down for this one. I know exactly what you’re talking about.”
You went out of the greenhouse and sat on the lawn. Steve sat next to you and began to explain what happened all those months ago.
While you were busy wondering what could have been if Steve had decided to get back with you before that point, he had been learning about how those slugs were actually monsters. That the rot in the ground was from that other dimension. You had been a mere few feet away from tunnels that ran throughout the entirety of Hawkins.
Every time you picked up a slug and threw it out into the lawn, those things were going to molt into things similar to the Demogorgon creature that Steve described at the funeral. You had been so close to such a terrible fate this entire time and you never would have guessed it.
“So… you’re saying I’m really lucky to be alive right now?” you asked.
Steve nodded slowly, “Yeah, uh, I guess I am. I- I guess I knew about the whole thing with your plants, but I didn’t really connect it all until now.”
“Makes sense why you were with all those kids now,” you said.
At least, you were able to understand why Steve would be the one watching all those kids while Will was possessed by something from that different dimension. You just could barely believe that it happened twice. Well, technically three times, but you didn’t know much about the events of that summer.
To try and make up for such a jarring conversation, Steve got you lunch at the diner you liked so much. It just felt so surreal that you could have ended up exactly like Barb. Only, you weren’t so sure you would’ve had as many people out looking for you. Steve probably would have tried to do something, but he probably would’ve figured out what happened to you.
At least you wouldn’t have had some poor girl on a wild goose chase that she set up for herself just to try and find you. There was something mildly assuring about that. Though, if nothing else, hearing that finally got you to feel like you truly were lucky to still be around.
Time continued to pass by and you stayed with Steve. He was so good to you and you did everything you could to make him happy. School started and he was starting to look for another job with Robin as it became clear he wasn’t going to be getting whatever severance pay he had gotten for forever.
All the finances that dealt with your step-dad’s passing were still being sorted out. Though, it seemed more and more like everything was going to go to your mom. He never had a will in place, no matter how hard Tommy tried to insist they keep looking. At this point, you were sure he was just trying to delay the inevitable. Not that you thought your mom was going to cut him off. Though, you mainly hoped that just because it would keep him out of Hawkins.
The leaves on the trees were starting to turn orange, red, and gold in the park that you walked through with Steve. You had just gotten out of school and you wanted to see him. It had only been a day, but you had spent a lot of that day seeing other dumb couples getting to see each other the whole time.
“Hey, I think it’s about time I told you why I was so late to your party,” Steve said as he pulled you over to a park bench.
You nodded, “Okay. Is this the last thing of all the stuff that I’m technically not supposed to know?”
“Yeah, I think this is it. And if anything else happens, I swear I’ll tell you the first moment I think anything is going on,” he squeezed your hand, “It’s funny, because I was actually really close to telling you about this one before any of the crazy stuff happened.”
Steve finally explained everything with the Russian code that Dustin found that summer. How it all led to the Russian Base in the mall that had been spoken about on the news. The reason you didn’t see him at work was because he had been stuck down there, getting tortured by Russians. All the while the Mind Flayer that pulled the strings a year ago came back for more.
Your step-dad had both been killed by the monster and was the monster all at once. It made a lot more sense once Steve explained what happened in full, but it did make you feel sorry for him. Mostly because you couldn't imagine what being killed like that must have felt like.
“So, that thing I saw that night, that was a bunch of melted up people?” you asked, furrowing your brow.
Steve nodded, “Yeah, it’s pretty gross to think about, but that’s how it happened. It’s all over this time, though. At least, I think so.”
“Hey, I’m sure it is. Whatever gate existed before is closed now and no American or Russian is gonna be able to change that again. It’s over,” you insisted.
At least, you hoped it was. You couldn’t blame Steve for being skeptical about it after the same thing happened three times. Still, you had been around through all of that one way or another. You weren’t planning on leaving now that you knew the full story.
Your mom catches you staring at the neighbor’s son sitting on the grass across the street.
“Honey, just go over and say hi.” Your mom beckons you, taking a box from your dad as he lifts it out of the moving van. You blink, staring at the boxes still left to be unsheathed.
“Are you sure?”
“Mhm,” she encourages, already beginning to walk back inside the house. “I’m sure he’s nice, just go and introduce yourself. Just like I taught you.” She shoots an encouraging smile your way, but you continue standing. It’s not like you can help unload the boxes, you’re only nine for god’s sake.
“Okay!” You agree, a gracious childish smile on your lips as you grab your doll, a little stuffed rag at this point, and skip across the street to the neighbor’s house; not without looking both ways across the road, though.
The neighbor’s lawn is bigger than yours, with a big old tree in the middle of the green grass. Underneath that tree and resting under the shade, a little boy is playing with his toy train. He looks like he’s the same age as you. As you approach he doesn’t seem to notice you, even though you’re hopping and skipping with every step. The front door of his house is open, but his parents are nowhere to be found.
“Hi!” You exclaim, probably a bit too excitedly as you jump on the grass right in his field of view. He looks up and his eyes widen comically. You don’t even give him time to respond as you jump into the introduction your mom had taught you: “Hi, my name is Y/N, I’m nine years old. My favorite color is purple, I’m an only child, I just moved in, and I want to be frie—”
You don’t get to finish, because the boy stumbles to his feet and runs inside the house, clutching his train to his chest. “H-Hey! Come back!” But he doesn’t, and you’re just left there standing alone.
Perhaps you had come on a bit too strong.
Narrowing your eyes, you try to gaze inside the house but to no avail. A sigh leaves your lips.
Yeah, definitely too strong.
You’re about to walk back home, swinging your raggedy doll, but a woman walks out from the door. She’s tall and slim, but behind her you see him again. That same boy, except now his toy is out of sight and he peers over at you with frightened eyes from behind his mom.
“Hi,” the woman speaks, her voice soft and sweet. “Who are you, sweetie?”
You stare up at her tall figure, gulping before replying. “I’m Y/N, I’m nine years old. My favorite color is purple, I’m an only child, I just moved in, and... I want to be friends.” Unlike her son, she lets you finish your long practiced speech.
The eyes with which she gazes at you are sweet and awestruck. “Aw,” she coos, reaching behind her to rub her son’s dark hair. “Look Jisung-ie, she just wants to be friends with you.” He continues to peek at you meekly, still grasping onto his mom’s leg. “Do you want to be friends with Y/N?”
For a long moment, he just stares. He’s taking in your appearance, your pigtails, the bows on the tip of your shoes, and the doll you have in your hands. You try your best to look nice under his scrutiny, wearing the bright smile that you practiced in the mirror. He seems to take a long time to make a decision, but you and his mom wait patiently.
“No,” he finally says before scurrying back into the house.
“So are you like, sad?”
You sit up and ask Jisung, who lays a couple feet away from you. You’re both on his front lawn, perched on the grass under the shade of the very tree you had first met him under. It’s the first time in the while that you’ve hung out like this,not since he decided suddenly that he had a crush on your classmate Kim Minju.
Your best friend stops touching his phone for a second to think, as if pondering your question. A silence ensues. You expect him to be sad, it’s normal after all. His first relationship, down the drain. But how serious can a twelve year old’s romance be, anyways? He seems to come to this conclusion also, for he shakes his head. “Nah.”
“Not at all?”
“Not really.”
You blink at him, not really understanding his point of view. He asks you next, “Are you sad? About Samuel?”
His question catches you a bit off guard, but after a moment you shake your head. You didn’t really like Samuel all that much other than the week after he had given you a candy bar for Valentines’ Day. That week, you were basically in love with him. But now, not really. You’d preferred Jisung’s company more than Sam’s.
“No.” You respond, laying back down in the grass next to him.
The two of you sit in silence for a moment, watching the sunlight slide between the dancing leaves, until he speaks up. “Good.”
Dear Jisung,
To be honest, I have no idea what the heck I’m trying to write here. I was talking to my mom about you, and she told me that if I have so many things to say, then I should write a letter. So here I am. I don’t think she meant it seriously, though. But to be honest I’m getting real fed up with you, so I took her seriously.
Here’s why you’re getting on my nerves, even though it’s already been a year since you moved. Actually, that’s why I’m mad at you. Because you left.
Mom says that you had no choice, and that you were moving because you had to. But she’s wrong. Completely, totally wrong. She has absolutely no idea how I’m feeling right now. I’m not mad because you moved to a new town to a new house with a new school and a new best friend that you post on your MySpace feed all the time now. I’m mad because you moved without saying anything.
You see, Jisung, when I met you that day I moved in, I knew you were going to be someone special to me. I was only nine (and taller than you, which I know you hated), but I knew you were going to be my best friend. You remember it, don’t you? The way I skipped across the street into your yard and demanded you be my friend? You were scared, stranger danger of course, but your mom encouraged you to play with me. I knew, I just knew in my little bones that you were going to be my best friend.
And you were.
For a short while, at least. Four years with me by your side, it must have been annoying huh? I know for me it was. I considered giving you away a couple times. Especially when you cut off one of my pigtails after I ate the last gummy worm! That was low, and even you knew it.
But for the most part, I really liked having you as my best friend. It was nice, carpooling with you to school every morning in the back of your mom’s old van, then walking home together. It was even nicer always having someone to hang out with at any hour of the day, just across the street. We saw each other every day for four years, but I never got bored of being friends with you. For a long time, it felt like it was you and me against the world, even if the world we knew was just the street we lived on. Even though you eventually grew taller than me, I was always smarter than you.
I was smarter than you because I figured out that you liked me before you even knew.
That one day, when we were twelve, you saw Kim Samuel give me a candy bar on Valentines’ Day. Then the next day, I saw you holding hands with Kim Minju. She was your girlfriend for like, two weeks until Samuel started crushing on the new girl in our class. That was really dumb and stupid of us, little twelve year olds thinking we knew anything about relationships. But what can I say, we’re only fourteen now anyways. We might not know anything, but I know this: you liked me.
First, I knew it because I saw the look in your eyes in the school hallway when Samuel gave me that Kit-Kat bar; you must have been jealous. I’ll admit, I was jealous too. I was jealous because Minju only lived down the street from us and you insisted on walking her home every day too. So then, our after school walks home and adventures grew to three people.
And everybody knows that the sidewalk is only big enough for two people to walk side by side.
After you “broke up” with her (twelve year olds breaking up, how tragic), things went back to normal. But then we were thirteen and I heard from someone in our class that you liked me. They whispered it in my ear during art class, making me spill pink paint all over my blue sky. You liked me. Like, liked me. It should have been surprising but it wasn’t really.
Because I liked you too.
You must have known, the way I did. After that, I waited for you to confess to me. Why? I don’t know, I was lame okay? I thought that guys were always supposed to be the one to confess. It seemed romantic at the time but now I just wish I had spoken up.
In some ways, I tried. Do you remember that one Friday when we were walking home, and I hooked my index finger around your’s? That took a lot of courage. You seemed fine, but when we got home you ripped your hand from mine without even saying goodbye. And then on my birthday, when you surprised me with that bracelet that I had been wanting from the mall, I tried to hug you, but differently. Instead of hugging your chest like I usually did, I tried to wrap my arms around your neck. It’s different. It’s more… intimate in a way. I had to tippy-toe.
But you pulled away.
Literally, you just slid your head under my arms and then rubbed your neck awkwardly before running back to your house. Imagine how that felt.
And then one day, two weeks after school finished, I saw the moving truck parked in your driveway. I had been scared, running to my mom and almost running outside, but she stopped me. “Jisung and his mom are moving to Seoul,” she said. Tch, you didn’t even tell me. She said she knew for a week already, which meant you already knew since before school got out. She thought you’d told me already. But the thing is, you didn’t.
I waited and waited, and guess what, I waited a little bit more. But you never came.
And then two days later, you left. Just like that. Just in and out of my life.
You didn’t even say goodbye.
While I was waiting, I saw you a couple times. From my bedroom window, I could see your driveway perfectly. Sometimes, while packing boxes into the truck, you looked over at my house. Once, I even saw you walk across the street, stop in the middle, then walk back home. Why did you do that?
Did our friendship not mean anything to you? Four years of teasing, walks home, sharing ice cream cones at the shop because we couldn’t afford two between us? I guess not.
You don’t even call anymore, and it’s not because you don’t know my house number. You knew it by heart, because you used to call me when you needed help with homework. It’s only been a year, but I wonder if you ever think of me. It can’t be that easy to forget me, can it? Even when I watched you and your mom drive away in that big old moving truck, with your head hanging out the window watching the street you grew up on slide past, I always thought you would come back.
But you haven’t. And that’s the thing about you, Jisung. You always run away. From people, from things that scare you, from things that make you uncomfortable. You ran away when I wanted to be your friend. You ran away when the neighbor’s big dog got loose and jumped in front of us on the way home. You ran away when I tried to hold your hand. Always running. Doesn’t it get tiring? It annoys me so much. I would call you a coward but that’s a really mean word and in some ways I’m a coward too.
My mom says that friends come and go, and that life will move on. I guess she’s right. So it’s time for me to let you go. I really don’t want to, but I guess it’s time. Trust me, this is the hardest thing I’ve done in all fourteen years of my life.
I’m sure your new house in Seoul is nice, but I doubt you have a big tree in your yard to play cards under or a neighbor who will hang out with you whenever you’re bored. I really hope not, so you can remember to miss me sometimes.
Bye, Jisung. Thanks for being my friend.
From your neighbor,
Y/N.
Holding Out for a Hero- Steve Rogers x Reader Pt.4
Tumblr media
a\n- Enjoy! italics are for thoughts as always <3
summary: dinner time with the Avengers! Will you and Steve get closer?
part 3
When you arrived, you saw the Avengers sitting at the table, with vacant seats for the five of you scattered between them. You sat down between Natasha and Thor. Except from Thor and the others you had already met, you saw Scarlet Witch and Vision, Rhodey, and Bruce Banner. Tony sat at the head of the table, and when you all took your seats he stood up.
"I would like to propose a toast to the newest members of the Avengers. You guys may not know this, but selecting you all and bringing you here was a long challenging project, so I, for one, am very glad that's over with. To the Avengers!"
"To the Avengers!" we all toasted and drank. From the corner of your eye you saw Julia was sitting next to Bucky, glaring daggers at the seemingly oblivious Isabelle who sat on his other side. You hid a smile behind your glass. So she had a bit of a crush as well… that's good to know.
You tuned into the conversation to your left, where Thor was arguing with Tony about something.
"Stark, listen. You can't create something like that from your little earth metals."
"First of all, don't tell me what to do. You're not the boss of me. Actually, I'm the boss of you, which is why you could show me some respect and cooperate with me on this one. So say I really can't make something like that from earth metals, could you bring me some other metals to work with. We'll call it even and I'll forget you ever disrespected me."
"Bringing you those metals is way better than some insult I threw at you Tony, and you know that. Tell you what, if you actually tell me what weapon you want to build for yourself, I might just get you those metals."
Tony scooted closer to him, whispering something if Thor's ear you couldn't decipher. "But you gotta keep it a secret, big guy. Otherwise it won't be a surprise."
Thor shifted his gaze across the table and back to Tony. You couldn't realize who he looked at. "Fine. I agree that's a noble enough cause. I'll get those metals for you."
He turned to you, smiling, and you hastily turned your head to your palate and pretended to look focused on your food. "What's your name young woman?"
You introduced yourself, explaining your job and that you'll be joining their missions soon. "I'm actually familiar with all of you guys like the rest of the world, so I already know who you are." You said bashfully.
"Ah, wonderful! Well, tell me then, who is your favorite Avenger?" Thor probably had a bit too much Asgardian liquor that evening, because he said it way too loudly. So loudly in fact, that the whole table silenced, waiting to hear what you answered.
Your thoughts were racing. If you told the truth and said Captain America, you might just end up ranting about how much you actually like Cap. You were prone to do that. But that was out of the question, you had to keep it professional. You could lie and say Thor, but then the entire table would hear, and you didn't feel like you had the right to play favorites when you don’t really know them all yet. You had to improvise, fast.
"Ummm… I don't have a favorite. I like all of you." You answered, satisfied with the answer you came up with.
"Oh come on, you're no fun. I know it's me," he winked at you. "But have it your way."
"Maybe if we got her some more champagne she'll spill it." Natasha said from your other side.
"That's a wonderful idea," agreed Tony. "I'll go and bring some more."
You got into a comfortable chat with Natasha, talking about nothing in particular.
"So, since I know who your favorite Avenger, why don't you go talk to him?" she smiled cheekily. Before you could persuade her not to, she called "Steve! Come over here! We haven't heard from you all night!". You glanced in Steve's direction. He laughed and brought his chair to sit next to you. "What's up Nat?"
"Oh, nothing much. Just thought you should try to mix more with the young crowd old man."
Steve apparently didn't have any Asgardian liquor that night. He seemed entirely sober and smiled at Natasha "Ha ha. Very funny." He turned to you. "You're the one that's doing risk assessment right?" you nodded. "Steve," he said with a smile and reached out for your hand. "Like I don't know who you are," you chuckled and shook his hand. To say sparks had been flying when your hands touched was probably an exaggeration, but you felt your cheeks heating up. Luckily, you managed to keep your cool. "You know they have aa exhibit of your life at the Smithsonian, right? They do school trips over there." He laughed, teasing you back "And I assume you're still in school in order to enjoy them?" "You've read my file so you know I'm not." You smiled at him. "Good point," he said, his blue eyes gazing into yours. You wouldn't admit this, but this definitely made you go a little weak at the knees. "Actually, a few years ago I stole my uniform from there. Needed something to wear that wasn't associated with S.H.I.E.L.D, that was really HYDRA at the time."
"That reminds me, what happened to Sharon? Weren't you and her getting closer at the time?"
"Guess we were, but I haven't spoken to her in years. She's still in S.H.I.E.L.D I guess." Steve said. Natasha snuck you a smug look, her point proven once again. "That reminds me," Steve smiled, "Nat, do you remember the time we escaped from the HYDRA agents at the mall? I guess that's not a publicly known story." He smirked at you. They told you the story, and you laughed pretty muck the whole time. "You see, she just wanted an excuse to kiss me." He smiled smugly at Natasha. "I certainly did not! It was a terrible kiss and I totally saved your ass back there." Natasha laughed. "Whatever you say," Steve smiled. The conversation between the three of you was flowing and fun, with them reminiscing on more missions and you telling them about yourself and where you came from. After a while, Natasha excused herself to go to the bathroom. You knew she did it just to give you and Steve "alone time", and any other time you'd be pissed at her, but you had a little champagne in you so you didn't care. You can do this, you thought, you can totally have a normal conversation with Steve Rogers.
"So," you sipped your drink, "I heard a lot about Captain America tonight. What can you tell me about Steve Rogers?" you smiled at him. He looked surprised, and you were beginning to think you did something wrong, but then he smiled softly at you. "That depends. What do you wanna hear?" "Well, I always wondered what it's like living in the 40's. my grandpa was like 2 years old back then so he can't tell me." you smirked. He chuckled and proceeded to tell you about his life in the war, about Bucky and his' friendship. At one point you saw Natasha coming back but going to sit at a different spot at the table. Traitor.
Your conversation with Steve was incredibly interesting. You talked about life and politics, "I have beef with the electoral college," he said, frowning. You couldn't keep the smile off of your face, "I see you're really getting used to the slang nowadays." You both laughed.
After a few hours of the dinner it started wrapping up.
"Okay guys, I think that's enough for today," Tony said, getting out of his chair. "You newbies have training tomorrow, so good luck with that. Oh, and Steve, Bucky, you're on dish duty today. Everybody else, have a good night."
Steve flashed you a smile, "Goodnight." he said, and he and Bucky got up to take the dishes. You made your way to Julia, so you can walk to your rooms together.
"Saw you getting friendly with Steve," Julia said in a suggestive voice. "Yeah," you said, innocently, "aren't teammates supposed to be?" Julia laughed. "What about you though?" you said with a smirk. "I saw you shooting Isabelle some pretty dirty looks tonight when she was talking to your man." Julia swatted your arm playfully. "Bucky isn't my man. Yet." She added as an afterthought. "Who said it was Bucky?" you grinned. "Come on!" Julia laughed.
You got to your room. When you opened the door you were attacked by a large furry dog and her loving tongue. "Lola!" you laughed. "I know, I missed you so much too." You petted her affectionately. You opened the closet door and found some pjs to put on. You snuggled under the covers, Lola at your feet, and went to sleep.
