For the People is probably my favorite show, but the episode where a DEA agent forgets a person (Brian Torres) in a holding cell for four days is just weirdly stupid for an otherwise great show. They position it as a "flip-flop" where the prosecutors are reluctantly charging one of their friends at the DEA office (and being punished by the agency for it) and the public defenders are reluctantly defending a DEA agent they'd usually fight against for their clients until they both change their beliefs about it to duke it out in court? And they frame it as this false dichotomy of either being a tragic mistake or a purposeful act of torture for some reason?? Like, I'm not a lawyer, but I think accidentally causing harm to someone like that is still a crime that can and should be prosecuted. And even if it wasn’t, it feels disingenuous to not at least mention a viewpoint between "he's faultless because it was a mistake" and "he did this on purpose."

💚 Traits, Refreshed & Randomized

I'm currently in the testing process for V2 of my Trait-Based Chemistry mod, but I wanted to go ahead and share this first, since I intend these to be used with that mod.

The original 3t2 traits were released 6 years ago, and I thought it was time for a fresh look. And while Flippity Flop traits by @anachronisims/@cityof2morrow filled in some gaps, I still felt like there were some aspects of real life personalities that were missing. And like most things, I started working on this and couldn't stop. Here's what you'll find in the download folders:

New icons for 3t2 & Flippity Flop traits, using 4t2 icons

Increased texture size for all traits, so they look a bit nicer in Sims' inventories - these went from 128x64 to 256x128 (preview below the cut)

9 new traits to complement the above sets

New icons for some "bonus" traits like @tammyhybrid21's Alien trait and @midgethetree's Fairy trait, plus 8 new completer bonus traits

Mesh swap of Simlogical's Prisoner Tag to fit the same format as the traits

Optional renamed traits (included in a separate folder with credits where applicable)

Trait randomizer program using Hook's RandomStuff

All traits use their original GUIDs and file names so you can just replace them in your downloads folder if you have the originals. You may need to manually refresh thumbnails in-game to see the new icons.

‼️The collection file is required - these objects will not show up in the catalog. If you are new to using traits, you also MUST have the trait_MAIN file from the original traits project post.

It's been ages since I shared anything and I started this project months ago, so it's highly possible I made a mistake somewhere. Let me know if you run into any issues!

Updated 2/16/25: Fixed an error where some of the renamed traits were showing in the catalog instead of collection only. Archives have been updated.

Updated 2/20/25: The Minimalist trait texture was showing up as a recolor for Black Thumb, and I accidentally packaged a version of the Prisoner trait without the custom thumbnail. Archives have been updated but you can get the individual files here.

What you get: 16 new trait object files for your personality diversity pleasure. Most of them are opposites of existing 3t2 traits that didn't already have them. One is just because :)

(*) I know @lilbabydilljr released a Dreamer trait already as part of the hidden/scrapped TS3 traits collection, but I wanted to change the flavor text and concept of it. My spouseman is a real dreamer-content-to-dream and I felt the TS3 scrapped version was too close to Ambitious. So @cityof2morrow made a different icon for it, and changed the GUID as well because Dill's conflicts with HB's simlife goggles. However, the file name is the same as Dill's and will overwrite it.

ETA: These are traits objects that WILL appear in your catalog in Gen/Misc. They are NOT added to the traits collection file as I don't use it. Feel free to do so yourself, of course.

What's coming next: Updates to existing traits mods that are plausibly affected by these traits (plus some personal preference tuning). Check out the to-do list here. Suggestions welcome and encouraged! Anyone who would like early access as a beta tester, please let us know!

Arriving fashionably late to fandom discussions as always, but i want to come back to the Orange Shoes Thing. I, personally, never thought about it, so finding out people thought it was just abhorrent was news to me lol

Orange is a good color! It's complimentary to the colors of his pants! I like that it's colorful and to me it matches his outfit pretty well.

BUT!!! It also made me question what other colors would look good on his design. So I tried doing that! I tried muting it a bit to make it less neon-ish, also tried the good old neutral black and gray/white, but i thought it was too basic so then i tried using colors from the stripes on his shirt and then i just wanted to be silly lol

2012!Steve Rogers x robot!Reader

Warnings for unconventional romance and an angsty situation.

Fresh out of the ice, Steve's given you to help him adjust to life in the modern age, like an Alexa but with a face and a cutting-edge body (technology-wise, that is 😉). The idea is to help him be comfortable asking all sorts of questions, at any time of the day or night, so he can transition back into the world.

It backfires. Spectacularly.

Steve can't separate that you don't deserve respect and consideration, even if you are an actual variation of a bucket of bolts. You know everything about every baseball game he watched growing up. You know the name of every guy he and Buck served with during the war. You know all of it. He doesn't have to explain or get you up to speed.

You answer any of his questions without judgment. That he doesn't understand modern social courtesies is no bother. You don't laugh when he uses out-of-date phrases or doesn't know slang. Ironically, when there are things you don't know, Steve can sometimes inform you of the old perspective and logic, leaving you two in the same boat of processing 'why.' He sees it as you growing together.

He also sees you looking after his health and safety. You remind him to eat meals and drink water. You politely suggest he turn off the television when the news or a show spikes his blood pressure. Once when he was in the garage working on his bike, a part popped off and almost hit his face, but even with his reflexes (even if it wouldn't have harmed him much at all), he turned his head to see your hand around the projectile before you dropped it at his feet.

Steve asks why you did that.

"I'm programmed to look out for you."

He doesn't believe you, or at least, he doesn't believe that is the full truth. Steve cannot fathom you haven't developed some of the same feelings for him as he has for you, so he runs his own little experiment.

He holds your hand, and when you question it, reminding him you cannot sense it other than abstractly, he says it's practice. He'll need to remember for later, for a woman he fancies.

There is no logical, programmable reason why after a few times of doing this you would take his hand without prompt.

"I think you love me," he offers, plainly.

"I cannot, Steve. I am incapable of loving you."

Yet he knows somehow beyond a shadow of a doubt that is a lie. You have to. You have to love him, too, or he doesn't know how to be here anymore than he did the day he thawed out.
