I’m going feral over how Mel and Viktor’s parallels with eachother are rooted in magic. Both saw magic as their salvation and their prayers.

Mel is born with magic whereas Viktor sought it artificially. Mel is from privilege and born in wealth. She could see the sky as easily it was to breathe. She grew up in a culture that emphasized on physical strength. Viktor was born in poverty and Zaun’s inability to breathe set his life with a countdown. Zaun also valued adaptability and intellect instead. Mel and Viktor casted aside the mentalities set upon them by their mentors to fight for their own.

Both desired and dreamed to create their own paths with their own ambitions. Both saw and used Jayce as their way to do so.

Considering how SVSSS talks about the relationships between authors and their fans/work -#Its stands to reason that WWX story is indeed a parallel for how the public prefers black and white & sensationalist views of people.#People are heroes or villains and trying to think about the nuance is too much work.#And it does not matter what the truth or lies are. The rumour exists and so it must hold truth.#It feels like someone dropped a poorly researched callout post on WWX on twitter that went viral.#80% of the people don't even know who he is but are still leaving him death threats.#“Guys I know we all used to really love WWX's content but I heard he unethically sourced his bones for his last art installation...”#Okay actually he might indeed do unethical bone sourcing. Just finished the episode so not sure how everyone is feeling about it but…I actually think what they did is kind of brilliant. Langdon is a sympathetic character. He’s funny. He’s kind. He’s a good teacher. He’s an excellent doctor. And he’s a drug addict. And in a world where that is so vilified and treated as a black stain on a person’s entire humanity, I think it’s really important they made sure to paint him in such a positive light up until this moment.

And it also did something else; it let us experience the betrayal with Robby. I guess I can only speak for myself, but I was rooting for Langdon—part of me still is. They planted the seeds of this storyline very early on and I steadfastly ignored them all because I wanted to. I didn’t want to see Langdon as someone who was diverting drugs. And so even with all the clues along the way, even with all the even more obvious indicators in this episode itself, I just couldn’t believe it was true until I watched Robby pull those pills out of Langdon’s locker.

#robby admits he looked at that kid and just saw one thing but should have been looking at the bigger picture #and then he is forced to do the same thing with langdon #usgshhwhshdbjwjdhsbns i love this show #i love Langdon so obviously i am upset at the prospect of him no longer being in the show #although i suspect this is not the end of his character #but unbiasedly i think this was really well executed #also the way it parallels the storyline with that david kid #also. i dont know. smth smth about how of course we dont see it when its the well respected white doctor #the pitt #the pitt hbo #the pitt 2025 #the pitt spoilers #frank langdon #michael robinavitch #michael rabinavitch
