s: “alright, something else i wanted to bring up, we got a new brand kid registered for the new season. Bleach Annaki”

“annaki?”

“isnt that the lethal kid?”

“what’s he doing here?”

“can he even register here? thought he was an academy student”

“he’s been AWOL for like 5 months!

s: “quiet. let me talk. he registered a few days ago and is planning on starting up in the next season. i went through his file last night. it’s long.”

“doesn’t surprise me, brand kid and all”

“yeah that kids a machine”

s: “apparently he moved in with his brother. after looking at his file i have some guesses as to why, but i’ll keep that to myself. what i do what to discuss about him, well- okay who has questions first”

“how is he registered here? he’s an academy student.”

s: “says he dropped out of school and his team 4 months ago. didn’t graduate. no further information on that”

“we don’t know why?”

s: “he definitely got injured. he’s got… quite the medical history. chronic illness, ink sac deformity, lot of random injures over the years, and specifically, a 2 month long hospital admission, directly following when he dropped out”

“holy mackerel”

s: “yeah. besides autism, there’s nothing noted as diagnosis’, but he clearly has some trouble handling emotions, and with all the stuff he’s been through, wouldn’t shock me if he had a good amount of trauma”

“oh for sure. brand kids get pushed hard. i used to follow his plays for a while, his dad is harsh. like, really harsh. Nic Annaki”

“i forgot thats his dad”

“who’s that?”

“you don’t know nic annaki?”

s: “nic annaki was the greatest player of his generation and currently is the coach of the annaki professional team. he funds a heavy amount of money into freshwater academy and the inkopolis anarchy industry as a whole”

“yeah, that kids definitely fucked up”

s: “so. i’d like to discuss a support plan for him. he’s in S to start but i can’t imagine it’ll take him long to climb the leaderboards. his brother, Perri, stopped by to talk with one of the nurses and give them some more info on his health the other day. he needs to be monitored on if he’s drying out”

“dry out?”

“you’ll know it when you see him, ends of his tentacles are white. permanent damage”

“how do you know that?”

“like i said. i kept up with him for a while”

s: “yes. for now he’s got a limit of playing 2 full rotations a day, which i’ve been told will get bumped up and up over time. he’s still recovering from… whatever it was”

“we’ll let the spectators know to have someone check in with him after every few games. keep an eye out for droughting”

“does he got one of those tube things? he’ll probably have a custom ink tank, gotta get that approved through mechanics”

they spend a bit longer writing down notes for what might need to be in bleach’s plan, reviewing his file as a group, and sending information where it needs to be sent.

6. What do you need to write? Is there anything special you need to do/have to help your creative flow?

Honestly, this is an interesting question for this fic specifically, bc my writing usually comes from a place of... pure fucking spite lmao. If there's something I don't like enough, I want to fix it (in Bleeding Heart, it was all the early access bullying lol). An Honest Lie is weird because I actually really like the Astarion canon storyline - though I can't speak for patches. So in this case, what I need to write, is a few weeks of getting depressed from my angsty as fuck AU, and then I come here to be cosy and promise my OC the world :')

22. Does personal experience ever inspire your fics? What about this particular fic?

The fun thing about me, is that I don't consider any of my OCs self-inserts or related to me at all(this is no judgement to self-insert OCs, I simply do not consider myself hot enough to hold a candle to the imaginary women in my brain and thus, I admire anyone with the confidence).

...And then I go into therapy, and my therapist asks me about my writing, and then they give me a long hard look and I say "oh, no, I get that look, but it's not me, you see. because this girl is hot :) and pink :)". And then my therapist looks at me some more.

which is a bit of an overshare, but basically it turns out that every fic I write can be archaeologically surveyed about a year after I write it for the personal experience it actually entails (yes, I'm extremely worried about Pieces).

luckily, Rosalie is 2yrs old, so I have done that work already! and oh boy, does that make writing An Honest Lie fucking weird at times!

I've been pretty open that Rose was my pandemic OC. I didn't write her based on my own pandemic experiences - it was actually that two of my friends at the time were agoraphobic, I was anxious, and I liked the idea of a magical cure for both of those things, in the form of the tadpole. But since I wrote the first fic with her, I have realised a lot about myself: I have recovered from an acute self-hating depression, and I have received an autism diagnosis, all of which seem relevant to the Masker Extraordinaire.

If I was to pinpoint the exact piece of personal experience here, I think it's the irrational fear that all recovery can be undone in an instant. That is the worry that motivates a lot of Rosalie's character. Like Rose, I really fear the moment where my progress is exposed as a lie, or the risk that one thing will tip me back into my worst moment without me having any control over it. I don't think it will happen, but I do feel like that possibility haunts my choices and my everyday life!

25. Is there anything you would change about this fic? Why/Why not?

Weirdly... I'm not sure if I'd write it? which is a depressing way to answer this question. I like it as a project, but it's a little different than my approach to other fics - it feels messier as a story. I mostly started it bc people asked for a continuation of my first fic, and I have a lot of love for A Bleeding Heart... neither of these are good motivations for a whole new fic lmaooooo. But now that I'm here, I wouldn't change anything. I've accepted it's going to be a messier, more self-indulgent project, and that while it doesn't come from my usual urge to fix things in a story, which means I have less prompts going forward, instead I just have to fully enjoy the bits I love.

I am so sorry for her, but very glad that she figured it out now. Growing up undiagnosed can be (and is most of the time) very traumatic

While I’m a bit younger, I still spent my entire childhood and half of my youth (I’m gonna pretend it has been only half of it so far cause whatever the fuck I had/have is most definitely not a joyful youth). So while I can‘t fully relate, I still kind of get it and can at least imagine how it must me for her

It‘s pretty hard to get an autism diagnosis, because it cannot be done by a regular psychiatrist (unlike ADHD for example, which is why I at least have that diagnosis already). In my area there is only one place where you can get a diagnosis and the waiting list is LONG (not the worst I‘ve seen so far but at least half a year, which is terrible if you need to get help as quickly as possible but you need a diagnosis to get any kind of help). But I’m working on it

It ended up to be “only” 5 pages, but it has 39 panels (chapter 1 has 24 panels)

So I think I’ll still get more of the story across even though it seems to be one page shorter

Today, I was really stressed and worried about something and I did it okay-ish, but I can‘t change shit anymore now anyways so I’ll have to stop worrying and just wait and see

I also had a doctors appointment to get blood drawn and tested (cause due to the meds I take I’m apparently at a higher risk of malnutrition/lack of some stuff) and it was literally the most pleasant doctors appointment I’ve ever had.

I was a too early (as always) and had to wait outside a bit because they were still on lunch break but I was let inside a few minutes earlier anyways and so I was alone in the waiting area. And the nurse was incredibly kind and nice (she had me lay down for it because she didn’t want to risk that I could pass out and then she let me take my time to get back up again). It was overall incredibly nice and I was done not even 15 minutes after my appointment (so none of that annoying waiting time that usually comes with doctors appointments)

I also wanted to mention this in the past days already but I somehow didn‘t haha:

So I saw Someone do OC-tober and I absolutely LOVED the idea! (I’m one of these people that just never really draws their OCs lmao)

So I put together a prompt list for myself and I’m really excited about it ^^

(I‘m also planning on participating in Ghosttober with my writing which is why I’m probably going to be a little stressed all throughout October which is why I’ll most likely start working on chapter 2 in November)

I like our little ritual too! ♥ When my friend got her diagnosis she couldn't get it from a regular psychiatrist either. She also got her ADHD diagnosis a couple years earlier because that was much easier. Autism she had to take a handful of tests over a period of time to actually get the diagnosis. But she was 98% sure what it would be before she got it. So I guess it's a pain in the ass no matter where you try to get it. Hoping that you are able to get through that process soon and get the help that you need. I'm glad your doctor's appointment went well and was easy. That's such a rare thing. And that you had a nurse who was really accommodating and understood what you needed. I was wondering why you said you would work on chapter two in November, until I got to the end of your ask. There are A LOT of things going on in October. And it will be kind of nice to take a pause on working so hard on that and doing some other stuff. I'm really excited for kinktober/ghostober whatever we're calling it. I'm trying to get the first week written and ready this week so that it's less likely that I fall behind. We'll see how that goes. Day one is written and ready to go--so that's something at least. And OC-tober sounds SO cool. I'm excited to see what you end up doing with that. I'm sure that will be a lot of fun too!

Riva Remembers

(A cheesy title for a fic I wrote while in the midst of an emotional breakdown, haha… I figured I’d post it on here because people seem to like my artwork of this OC so far. This is my first time writing these characters. Also I am on mobile and super duper tired from the aforementioned breakdown, so please pardon the long post. I have no idea how to put the read more thing on this… Regardless I hope someone enjoys this, I guess.)

“Agent Cruller, it’s me! Raz! I need to talk to you—“

“Sorry, senior staff only!” The old man in the mailroom office replied coldly, turning back to sorting the piles of letters with telekinesis.

“Don’t you know who I am?!” Nick’s voice came from farther into the mailroom, “I’m telling my dad!”

Razputin suddenly got an idea… He raced down to find his mentor standing there, eyes looking off in two separate directions. Another figure he recognized was on the verge of a nervous breakdown right next to him… Actually she looked like she had already been through multiple breakdowns before he even got here.

“Mr. Johnsmith?! Come on! It’s me! N-nick?!” The teen ran pale hands through her short brown hair, “Th-this is terrible! I am dead for sure!”

“Postage stamps…are scratch and sniff…” The pot-bellied man mumbled nonsensically beside her.

“Whoa, whoa, Riva…” The ten year old’s expression softened, “I was the one who found his brainless body… What do you mean you’re dead?”

“N-norma…she… t-told everyone I…”

“She thinks YOU’RE the mole?!” The child was taken aback, slightly angered even, “Why?!”

“I-I don’t know…M-maybe it’s because I didn’t notice the body before you…?” Riva sniffled, “It doesn’t matter… Agent Foresythe is going to have me detained…o-once she hears about this…”

“What?! No way!” He looked at her with determined eyes, “Don’t worry! I have a plan! I am going to get a new brain for Nick’s body, so he can let me into the mailroom office! Once I get there, I will be one step closer to proving you’re innocent!”

“Y-you really think… I-I’m innocent…?” Her tear filled blue eyes looked at him as if confused by his faith in her.

“I know you are!” He nodded, “Hey! Can you watch Ford for me until I get back? Make sure he doesn’t go anywhere!”

“F-ford…?” The other intern’s eyes narrowed at that name, as if she were squinting to see through a thick fog, “Ford…why does… Oh! Ford Cruller, right… He’s one of the psychic 6…” She shook her head, “Sorry, I am just…all over the place… These panic attacks take a lot out of me…”

“It’s all going to be okay.” The younger of the two gently took the other’s hand, waving to Nick before walking up to the office room, “Agent Cruller! This is my friend! She works in the mailroom—!”

“If she isn’t senior staff, that door ain’t openin’!” Ford declared before the boy could finish.

“Oh, I know!” Raz nodded, “This is Riva. She is having a hard time right now, and I don’t want to leave her alone. Maybe you two could talk or something?”

“Eh?! Oh, sure…sure thing…” The senior sounded slightly jostled for a moment, before returning to his distant demeanor, “Chit chat makes the sortin go faster…”

“Great!” The boy smiled at Riva before racing up to the exit of the mailroom, “I’ll be back as soon as possible!”

Soon after the sound of footsteps and levitation bubbles faded, the remaining intern heard the door creak open.

“Riva…” Cruller’s voice sounded slightly shaken, “I… Is it really you…?”

“Ah… I shoulda known you would’ve repressed it all…” He looked at the floor grimly, “They feared what you could become if you knew…”

“…W-what…?” The teen stepped away as the agent stepped closer, reaching a hand out to her. Eventually, she was against a wall.

“You…really were damaged by the feedback…weren’t you, kid…?” His bushy eyebrows furrowed in concern, “Back at Whisperin Rock… you remember that place, right…?”

Oh, that summer camp she got kicked out of only mere days in because she wasn’t even a real psychic?

“Yes, that’s the one.” Cruller answered her thoughts telepathically, “Except… you are psychic, Riva… Always have been… They just wanted you to believe you weren’t…so they could let you go back to society…”

Go…back…? Why wouldn’t she have been allowed to be in society if she was psychic? Isn’t that what the psychonauts are all about?

“You had potential, unlike what Nein Vodello and myself had ever seen from such a young mind… until Raz showed up, of course, but he was slightly older than you were…” He finally grabbed both of her hands, encasing them in his own, “You had such a gift with clairvoyance… it was beyond what the psychonauts ever thought was possible…”

“W-Wait…” She blinked, “You know Raz then? Why didn’t you just let him in the office…?”

“He’s not ready to learn the dark truths I’ve got tucked away in this old noggin…” The old man sighed, “I-I’m not ready for em, either… but… you are. You need to know the truth about yourself… You need to stop disregarding me when I say this: You ARE psychic…”

“B-BUT I’M NOT!” Riva tried to pull her hands away from him, to which he gently released them from their hold, “T-THAT CAMP WAS THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME! I THOUGHT I WOULD FIND SOMEWHERE I BELONGED, THAT I WAS GOOD FOR SOMETHING! B-but… I wasn’t… I-I was so full of myself to think I was special! M-My brains just BROKEN—“

“Stop it right there.” His voice became firmer, “Listen to me, before someone comes! Your potent clairvoyance meant we didn’t need any altering technology to convince you of a lie… You are so in tune with other people’s viewpoints and perspectives… you don’t even know what your reality is anymore… Other people tell you who you are, what you do, where you go. No more playin pretend, Riva.”

“I-I…b-but…”

“You were a psychic of high potential even at age 7, with budding specialities in clairvoyance, and hydrokinesis….” He smiled, “You… you made friends with every single piece of me, kid… I took you under my wing to teach you what I knew… but hydrokinesis… was a feared ability due to…well… another incident... When that secret spilled…”

“N-no… I-I can’t be… I-I don’t remember any of this!“

“Nein feared that your age, your diagnosis of autism, both combined with your psychic potential could result in you developing powerful abilities beyond even your own control…” Ford shook his head, “Headquarters wanted to lock ya up for observation in a psychoisolation facility for life… but, Sasha found a loophole. By having someone tell you that their biased perspective was reality, your brain would doubt its own perception, and start to believe them. That’s how we managed to let you leave that campsite with your family…”

By this point Riva was speechless, as countless memories she thought she had selfishly dreamed about returned to her. She fell to her knees, staring at nothing as she was flooded with all that she had forgotten. The ruthless bullying at camp, and their sabotaging of her efforts to learn to use her powers… That time they tried to drown her in the lake and she washed them all ashore on accident… the horror on everyone’s faces… It all actually happened?!

There were some happy things hidden in the mess, though… The time she’d spend drawing the wildlife out there, the cool places to explore… and the single friend she made at camp… That’s right, the cook was always there to comfort her after the other kids picked on her… No, wait, it was the ranger… But then why’d she remember a janitor, and a man watching over the canoes…? Why did they all look the same, identical even…? Then there was one more in a psychonauts uniform…

“There ya go. Now you’re getting it…” His frail hand grabbed one of hers, helping her up with a chuckle. “I should look more familiar to ya now, eh?”

She made eye contact again, and felt so stupid for not noticing this before. Riva always had an interest in the psychonauts, because they seemed like they could tolerate different minds. If her family could afford it, she would even read True Psychic Tales, mainly because she admired the illustrations. How could she not realize she knew Ford “The Founder Of This Whole Place” Cruller until now?!

Yet, at the same time, she felt her eyes water. It was nice to know she had a friend back then, even if he was old enough to be her grandpa. She didn’t say a word, and extended her free arm as an invitation…for something she definitely needed and wouldn’t want to get from Nick. The agent understood, and they hugged for a brief moment. She felt like this had happened before.

“I-I… I’m glad to see you, Mr. Cruller, b-but…” She quickly shifted back to worrying, “I-I am not in the best situation to do much of anything regarding the truth right now… I know Norma is telling Hollis I am the spy in the psychonauts… I-I am going to get locked up in the end anyway… T-they didn’t believe me before… Why would they believe me now—?”

He was gone.

The intercom sounded, with Hollis’ sharp voice ringing out, “Would Riva Beckons please come to the main area IMMEDIATELY!”

Are there any Smurfs that you headcanon with neuro-developmental disorders (Autism, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome) and/or personality disorders (Paranoid Personality Disorder, Schizoid Personality Disorder, Schziotypical Personality Disorder, Antisocial Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Histrionic Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Obsessive-Complusive Personality Disorder, Avoidant Personality Disorder, Dependent Personality Disorder)?

Sorry, if this is a bit much.

I had a question semi-similar to this from another user but I didn't really know how to answer. To be honest I'm not really comfortable with it because I purposefully avoid trying to label anything onto another character unless I know full well what the hell I'm talking about, ESPECIALLY when it comes to conditions that are sadly often stigmatised by society. I did do psychology for 2 years at college, and we more or less learnt that it is such a fine fine line most of the time, and it doesn't help when people on the internet use these terms for everyday flaws or habits. These sum up my feelings best, and why I wouldn't throw them about without due diligence in fact checking.

And if I was going to implement something along those lines, I would do it to an oc and not a canon character, so that I would have full flexibility to explore their main personality and research the traits and avoid people arguing with me over diagnosing fictional characters, but I digress, unless I actually WAS a person with xyz.

That being said, one of the most common head canon's I've seen is Autistic Clumsy, which I've seen positive reactions to with people that have an actual diagnosis, so something like that for example I would be far more comfortable with :) I've never explicitly stated it to be so in my headcanons, and I think I would still need to do some research and listen to several of my friends before I made something like 'official' if that makes sense.

The one thing I do have, whilst I'm not sure if it counts (I did check google however all sources are conflicting since people can't really agree) is that Dreamy Smurf is dyslexic. Poet has been creating a friendly font for him to use :)

- she kidnaps Red Son once and that’s kinda... bad but they both had fun at the end of the day so-

- Haze genuinely worries about Aeolian and Iva sometimes...

- (Haze is the only one in the group who hasn’t experience some kind of trauma)

- speaking of which, they don’t bother with a glamor. full monkey, all the time.

General HCs for all of them:

- Aeolian has. a major crush on Haze, which Iva keeps teasing him about

- theres a small pool connected to the ocean in one of the back rooms of Aeolian’s bookstore/house, so Iva can go from her underwater house to Aeolian’s rather quickly

- Haze and Iva get along surprisingly well, the two of them tend to talk about recent shows they’ve seen and stuff like that.

- they drag Macaque into their friend group the same way one drags a cat to a bath. with spite, determination, and several injuries. and also hissing. a surprising amount of hissing really, we thought you were more civilized, Macaque.

- they make him part of the friend group partly because Iva thought it’d be funny (which it was), and partly because Aeolian is certain they’ll need someone powerful with them when shit inevitably goes down.

- (of course,when shit goes down, it turns out Macaque is not enough, and Aeolian has to go get MK and the others for help, but that’s later)

- Haze, Aeolian, and Iva have movie nights! ....whenever Haze gets to pick a movie they pick something about phantom thieves and Aeolian is getting nervous. Iva knows full well that Haze has already figured Aeolian out. she thinks it’s hilarious.

- they’re all neurodivergent. yes, all of them. Haze is the only one with an Official Diagnosis for autism but the other two are neurodivergent as well.

- Picnics! Under! The! Sea! (dont worry, Iva makes an air bubble so the food doesn’t get wet.)

- they all like to bake, so sometimes one of them will just show up with a tray full of baked goodies for the others.

- Aeolian sees MK nearly fall off a building once. He used his wind powers in order to make sure he didn’t fall. MK was left confused over it for weeks.

- Haze will sometimes eat at Pigsy’s Noodles while working on case notes.

- Iva makes it her duty to pranks whoever she comes across, but Red Son and Wukong get Special Pranking Treatment.

- (she had to get Aeolian and Haze to help her move everything in Wukong’s house on the mountain an inch to the left. don’t ask how she convinced the two of them, you don’t want to know.)

Betrayal, Desire, guilt, mask and mistake for Rose?

betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?

Interestingly, I'm not sure Rose has ever been betrayed! Obviously she was broken up with in her past, but that relationship was a gradual decay to a point where she was desperately trying to fix it and new it was futile, rather than an outright or sudden betrayal.

There is a perceived betrayal coming up in An Honest Lie, so I will not spoil for the sake of the second question! :)

desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?

Unfortunately and not very feminist-ly of me, the one thing Rose wants more than anything is Astarion - both a relationship with him, but also to be like him. Other desires - or other forms this desire can take - open out a little bit more later on in An Honest Lie, but confidence, fearlessness, and self-assurance - which she sees Astarion to embody to a degree - is what she is chasing. It will take new forms as the fic progresses but generally she is looking to this other person as the epitome of it, and also what she wants romantically.

She is not particularly open about this desire - or at least, the extent to which she wants it, given that she's riddled with avoidance and preconceived notions of how any conversation about an actual relationship would go.

guilt: What is your OC guilty about? How do they handle their guilt? Do they try to avoid guilt, or do they accept it?

Rose was my OC who is literally just Imposter Syndrome in a funky pink body. It's why I like seeing her in both present and time-skip environments. She feels guilt about her 'imposter' status, and about perceived slights she does to other people, and handles them through aggressive overcompensation that is technically just avoidance I would say.

mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?

*laughs in autistic author, who got her autism diagnosis a year after A Bleeding Heart, then told her therapist about A Bleeding Heart two months ago and watched that poor therapist go through 5 stages of grief before saying: "so, you realise what you were maybe working through?"

(this does not answer your question unfortunately, but hopefully every single one of my fics provides an insight!!)

mistake: What's the worst mistake your OC ever made? What led to them making it? Have they been able to fix it? How have they moved on?

ohhhh, FASCINATING. I don't think this character ever made a mistake in my mind, which is why I built her for my 100% lawful good playthrough of BG3 where I was trying to get 100% completion lmao. She *feels* like she's made a lot of mistakes? But has she though?

I've now realised that this was a whole reason to write Pieces, to see how she would actually handle a Real Fuck Up - what led up to her making it was what she thought was compassion and selflessness but was actually complacency and self-effacement, and obviously, she has NOT moved on.

As to if she can fix it? Um....

We’re starting off strong with a Marvel crossover fanfic wow. Who knew that crossovers could be done tastefully as 2013 Wattpad kind of ruined it for us. However, this fic changed my mind! This fic is funny as fuck and is just a goodass time. I love a good multi-chapter fic (as you’ll soon see) and this one is a showstopper.

Draco has moved to New York City and is working as a receptionist at a tattoo shop and a mentor for inner city kids, but he accidentally gets forced to work out his differences with Harry, who at this point hates his guts. This fic is pretty serious, tackling themes of mental health, suicide, and police brutality. Every OC in this story is completely lovable and I cried my eyes out many times. When people ask me for a fic reccomendation this is the one I give people. Dare I say that this is my all-time favorite fic.

It’s literally two boys who have never felt like their emotional needs have been satisfied learning to help and love each other like how much more wholesome does it get. I mean it’s all fine and wholesome until you get to the kinky sex which is WONDERFULLY WRITTEN MIGHT I ADD! I always say that if porn can make you feel something other than just horny, you’ve found a winner, and this story does just that.

Definitely check all the tags and I mean all the tags before you read this, but this is definitely one of my favorite porn with plot stories.

Might I just say that classics are considered classics for a reason. This is one of those stories that has the vibe of high school summer after senior year where all you do is try to escape reality and figure out your place in the world. While the plot is wonderful and the characters are great, I think what shines the brightest from this story is the writing style. It’s so enchanting and poetic with the best one-liners that make your heart hurt. On my AO3 bookmark i captioned it, “This just ripped my soul in half and restitched it together again,” and I still stand by that.

James and Lily Potter had a secret, one which led to Thanatos saving young Harry from a dreary life with the Dursleys and changed the face of the Second British Wizarding War before it ever began.

This story feels much more like a 12 season television show than a two hour movie if you know what I mean. The plot is pretty slow going but the character development and interation makes it worth it. The story blends the lore and events of the HP and PJO to make a completely new story without making it feel like a goddamn recap. The reader follows Harry from when he’s young all the way into adulthood and it’s a fun time to watch him grow as a character and bond with his parental figures. Also some of the spinoffs are really wild and I never would have thought of the pairings but they just work somehow?? My personal favorite spinoff is the Pirates of Caribbean/Calypso and Leo arc like HELLO?! hot pirates. The total word count of the two series is 465k so beware it takes a hot second to chug through this one.

This Worship of an Extinct Fire by Lomonaaeren

Unspeakable Draco Malfoy has planned for nearly six months how to take down Thomas Linwood, a man who has discovered the secret of converting wizard bodies to pure magic. He was prepared for anything--except the discovery of the missing Harry Potter in Linwood's compound.

This one, I don’t know how it’s not considered a classic. I’ve seen it floating around on drarry tumblr and wow is it good. I especially like the detailed magic system and mechanics that Draco is investigating. How the author managed to have so much detailed and gracefully planned out backstory in 30k words is beyond me. Also gentle Dracoo Malfoy is my favorite Draco Malfoy :) absolute angel mode.

Little Compton Street (One Rainy Night in Soho) by LLAP15 and Writcraft

Draco is lonely, Harry hates the press and it won’t stop raining in London. Harry discovers a magical street that’s close to disappearing forever and Draco realises he’s one rainy night in Soho away from finding everything he’s been searching for.

This fic is, in every sense, a masterpiece. Especially for pride month, the story surrounding LGBTQIA+ activism, the AIDS Epidemic of the 80s, and the gentrification of historically queer communities is one that should be read by everyone. Every single place, OC, and historic event has real world ties and is historically accurate, making this fic even more enchanting. Everything about this fic is graceful and slow burning I can’t help but fall in love with it. I’ve only seen this fic once on HP tumblr, but I feel like it should be considered a classic as it is truly a moving piece. This fic is one of the biggest reasons why I became so enthralled with LGBT history and am writing a fic that takes place in a wizarding version of the AIDS epidemic.

After even they are shocked to hear the extent of Harry's issues, though Hermione had her suspicions, he discovers more about the man than he ever thought he knew before.

As a Neurotypical, I found this fic to be absolutely wonderful. I don’t know much about the typical traits of those who are one the autism spectrum and how they affect their everyday lives, but from what I was reading in the comments from those who are on the spectrum or who have family who are, this fic was pretty accurate and realistic. Harry, who lives with aspergers, goes without a known diagnosis until 8th year and it’s just heightened by his PTSD and anxiety and ugh I just want to hug the boy. The story follows Harry and Draco and the rest of the 8th year gang through the year and has multiple arcs in which the wizarding world are just dumbass bitches who can’t fucking seem to accept people for who they are. Not only is Harry on the spectrum but he’s also Desi with a purpose and not just mentioned and forgotten which is wonderful. The boys go through a lot of trauma in the story but there’s also a lot of teeth-rotting fluff that I live for. This is one of the fics that I have read and reread because I love it so much.

This definitely is not my full list I have a ton more stories in my bookmarks if you are curious. I’ll probably post a part two to this just cause I have so much and read so often. These, however, are definitely the biggest highlights.

He continued to hold her as she cried. Eventually, he heard her say something, but he couldn’t make it out.

“Hm? What was that?”

She sniffed and moved her head out of his chest a little. “I said, I think he thinks I’m broken.”

“What? Why would he think that?”

“Well, I have an autoimmune disease, I have autism, I -“

“Wait. You have autism?”

“Uh. Yeah. I got diagnosed when I was 23. Not sure how I flew under the radar for so long, but he really didn’t take my diagnosis well…”

“Eirie…” He gently tilted her face to look at him, his other arm remaining wrapped around her.

“I… I have autism too.”

She blinked and then nodded slowly. “Now that I think about it… It was hinted that someone did. I’d hoped it was you.”

“You did? Why?”

She smiled softly through her tears. “Another layer of understanding.”

He marveled at her. She… really was just like him, wasn’t she?

“Do… You think we’re broken?”

He blinked at her, his brow furrowed slightly. “Do you?”

She thought a moment and then shook her head. “I wouldn’t be me without it. I’d rather be me than not me. Does that make sense?”

“Of course it does! That’s how I feel!”

He held her tight and she laughed breathlessly.

“Does this mean… I finally have… Someone to make forts with?” “You bet you do!”

“Great. But, Kiro…”

“Yeah?”

“…I need air.” “Oops! Sorry!”

He quickly loosened his embrace and she laughed, catching her breath.

Her laughter was beautiful to him.

All of her was beautiful.

She seemed to shine brighter than the sun as he held her.

He couldn’t help but smile. She was already lightening up his world.

What a miracle she was. His little star.

A little introduction I suppose

So I’ve been diagnosed with autism informally, doctor friend of my mother’s said I have it (but I’ve never met him, and he went off of things my mother relayed back to him). Since I was informed of this I’ve been doing a little research here and there, just trying to grasp it and see if this is really true. I’ve read a lot of articles, and recently been going through tags on here to see what autistic people have to say. Although I got the “diagnosis” almost nine months ago, I’ve only come to slowly embrace it as of the last few weeks. This is because I made an OC, and I made her autistic, and I started researching for her and realized a lot of the things I’ve been learning apply to me as well. It’s scary, and it’s hard to accept but I can’t pinpoint why exactly. I think it’s a lot of internalized ableism? That’s the terminology I’ve seen used that I think applies best to me best. I’m new to this, and still very much learning. But I made this little blog to try and learn easier, to maybe find some people who can answer the questions I have. I’ve been going through tags on here for the last week now, and so many people seem so kind and wonderful, so I hope I get to meet some of you.
