My nephew reviews perfume
I'm not sure how my sister heard about Noteworthy Scents, but the concept is, you take a quiz, and they'll send you four Scientifically Chosen samples ($25 USD) based on your answers.
Noteworthy is a new, exciting way to discover your signature scent. Rather than relying on flashy celebrity branding or overblown marketing promises, we want our customers to be in control of deciding which Noteworthy fragrance is right for them. We’re excited that you’re joining us on this journey - we can’t wait to help you find your signature scent.
I have looked at all the fragrances on offer, and I can tell you, they don't happen to have the notes I would want in my One Perfume to Rule Them All (if there's no peach or ylang ylang, I’m not forsaking the rest of my collection). But more to the point, I don't want just one. I've been writing up the things I've been trying for a few months now, and I enjoy the experimenting. But I appreciate what Noteworthy's trying to do, especially for wearers who want something straightforward, and I was perfectly happy to let my sister be the one to try them.
(I did take the quiz, though, and after telling them I don’t like aquatic scents, they said they would send me one that smells like the beach. I closed the tab. My sister told the quiz that she does not like florals and she does not like amber. You’ll never guess what happened next!)
So her Discovery Kit arrived yesterday. She announced this by texting me,
I’m gonna give you feedback from [Nephew] smelling the perfume
Me: Yeah?
As you may recall from one of my music posts, my nephew is six.
(My sister gave me permission to post this.)

n,841
Lemon, tarragon, cedar wood. A powerful, understated blend of citrus and woods. Drawing from poetry’s ability to spark joy and inspiration, this bright lemon and bergamot blend leaves an instant impression before mellowing out into a rich amber and leather base.
My sister: [Nephew] said
smells like raspberries or being in a dungeon like down in a well
Me: ……..I do not see any of those things on the card
Tumblr media Tumblr media
n,551
Lily of the valley, amber, sandalwood. A sensual, comforting, woody scent that cocoons the wearer in notes of warm, glowing sandalwood and cozy, soft cashmere—freshened up with Lily of the Valley.
smells like lime juice or being inside a pumpkin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
n,307
Mandarin, basil, sandalwood. Inspired by nostalgic childhood trips to lemon groves, fresh flowers swirling together in the summer breeze, and the radiant colors of perfectly ripe citrus, this energizing fragrance stars juicy mandarin and soft sandalwood, plus light notes of basil.
green grape juice or being on top of an umbrella at the beach
Me: that’s very specific
Tumblr media Tumblr media
n,057
Passionfruit, vanilla, tonka bean. Let n,057 become your signature: remarkable, evocative and distinctly yours. Keep your fragrance at home or take our travel spray with you. Fitting snugly in your purse, pocket, or suitcase, it's the perfect on-the-go perfume.
My sister: I think he’s losing his focus on this last one. He said
lemon juice at the lemon store
My perfume sample budget got used up on, like, ugh, actual necessities this month, or I'd give Noteworthy a try for science. On a second try, my quiz results were (very likely overlapping with my sister's):
A captivating blend of warm woods and zesty citrus, like strolling through a sun-drenched forest grove. An intriguing fusion of exotic spices and earthy notes, evoking the vibrant energy of a bustling cityscape. A delightful combination of tropical fruits and delicate florals, reminiscent of a refreshing breeze in a lush garden. And for an unexpected wild card fragrance, a scent that defies expectations because science cannot always predict desire.
Currently, my sister says that she can tell that the Noteworthy fragrances are well-made, but they're not "her"; apparently she's in the 11% algorithm failure group—or maybe she just needs time for them to grow on her! Who knows! She'll bring over her samples for Sunday dinner, and I'll report back if they do, in fact, smell like being inside a pumpkin.

flavors of jjk characters
amateur set of aroma associations. aromatherapy is my little relaxing hobby, I am not a perfumer
Satoru Gojo woody-musky composition with light floral notes. The fragrance fits snugly to the skin
Suguru Geto oriental woody perfume. his hair and clothes smell of palo santo, he carries a trail of kitchen spices and petricore (Satoru calms down and says even "sobers up" from this fragrance, when you need to put your thoughts in order, Shoko calls him "honey wood")
Shoko Ieiri among the mixed smells of latex gloves, formalin and cigarettes, her fragrance consists of one tuberose and sounds weak, almost imperceptible
Utahime Iori nothing came to mind but the scent of white lily and lemon peel
Yuki Tsukumo I think a refreshing playful composition of neroli and pepper with notes of grapefruit would suit her, while poorly hiding the smell of rubber and metal on her hands
Choso camphor and tea rose
Mei Mei fragrance of cashmere, black currant berries, ginger
Kento Nanami  sun-warmed trees, oak and fresh aquatic notes on warm days, in cold weather he will be warmed combination of guryun balm, bergamot and pomegranate peel
Hiromi Higuruma restrained fragrance of clary sage, cardamom, lavender and cedar
Yuuji Itadori orange, sage, vetiver I think Yuu is not picky, it is normal for him to use a 3 in 1 shampoo with an indefinite smell, he has not yet decided what exactly complements it, he uses different probes that Nobara gives him as a present, but most often unconsciously chooses compositions with orange
Megumi Fushiguro  green tea and oak moss, smell of cleanliness, which happens to washed laundry with a powder without fragrance, brought from the cold into the warmth of the room
Ryomen Sukuna strong vanilla at the beginning and after it sounds deeper with bitter wild herbs and pine needles, supplemented with tobacco, orchid notes and musk, completely eclipsing the original suffocating sweetness
Uraume cotton, fresh figs and burnt laurel leaves
Tsumiki Fushiguro pink pepper and lily of the valley
Toji Fushiguro woody-resin fragrance with animalistic notes and tobacco (he smokes, his hands and clothes smell of strong cigarettes)
Junpei Yoshino ylang-ylang, cumin, cucumber
Mahito something incongruous, for example, the smell of moisture and sweet rot of autumn leaves, a diluent for oil paints in combination with patchouli or vanilla
Yuuta Okkotsu jasmine tea, soy wax, juniper
Toge Inumaki fennel, rosemary, sea buckthorn leaves
Nobara Kugisaki I don't associate with anything other than perfume Funny by Moschino
Maki Zenin watery violet fragrance
Momo Nishimiya peony, freesia, geranium, amber, frankincense, powder (oh, no, Mai, it's not grandma's perfume, it's called a mystical witch fragrance)
Mai Zenin white pineapple strawberries, tobacco dust and cloves
Kasumi Miwa  is something powdery, delicate and barely perceptible iris or verbena
Noritoshi Kamo woody earthy fragrance with a hint of salt and almonds. his hands smell of suede, ink and coffee beans
Kokichi Muta ozone, bigaradia, nutmeg, licorice and musk
Aoi Todo perfumed deodorant with lime, nutmeg, basil and chamomile tea (to calm the rage in the chest in the spa evening)
Kirara Hoshi patchouli, rose and chocolate shampoo
Kinji Hakari iron, spruce, red apple and fire smoke
Mimiko Hasaba vanilla, apricot, wormwood
Nanako Hasaba geranium, rosehip, cinnamon
Nitta Akari rice water, pomegranate, grapefruit, red currant berries
Nitta Arata lavender, cardamom, walnut, lemon
Yorozu red wine, wild honey, rice, ginger cookies
Hajime Kashimo aquatic fragrance, chrysanthemum, bamboo
Naoya Zenin sandalwood, powdered sugar, caramel, salt
Haruta Shigemo fir, tangerine, lime, bitter chocolate, salty-sweet popcorn
Dagon land, mud, sea
Jogo wet burnt wood, mango, gasoline
Hanami fresh grass, garden flowers after rain
Kiyotaka Ijichi cocoa, tobacco, cloves, amber
Ino Takuma guaiac wood, vetiver, bergamot, lemon
Atsuya Kusakabe aquatic or woody fragrance with tea tree
Hana Kurusu powdery mimosa
Ryu Nishikori copaifera balsam, pine resin, clary sage, pineapple and burnt caramel
Takako Uro gunpowder, lemongrass, blackberry, leather notes
I think to end the thread on this note, it turned out to be longer than I expected. In any case, it was fun for me to pick up fragrances for the characters, relying on my olfactory memory, rather than adjusting to personal preferences (this was especially difficult with Naoya's fragrance😅)

141 and their Fragrances
I am a perfume junkie so I have authority on this. I mostly went by brand and then chose their signature scent from that.
Price
He is a D.S & Durga man. Bottles look simple, just masculine enough without being over powering but also not afraid of being a little floral. Kate recommended the brand because she hated his normal cologne. His signature scent is Burning Barbershop with top notes of spearmint, lime and spruce. Heart notes of lavender absoulte, tuberrose and turkish rose. Base notes of Vaniila, burnt oil and hay. He also likes Radio Bombay (woody, copper) as a date scent and Leatherize (leather, floral) for sex.
Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick
Kyle (In my headcanon) is a film buff so of course he would be drawn to Vilhelm Parfumerie's Basilico & Fellini by name alone. Kyle likes fresh, green scents so with notes of dragon fruit, basil, violet, wild fig, vetiver and green hay he was sold. He also loves the cheeky names of Body Paint (fruity), Morning Chess (green) and London Funk (woody). Takes a lot of pride in having a variety of scents so mostly travel sizes.
Johnny 'Soap' Mactavish
After being told (multiple times) by his sister that he had to move on from the cheap body spray of his youth. He found Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene and bought it from looks alone. He ended up really liking the earl grey gourmand scent. He does admittedly like how rugged the bottles look compared to the scent. He's not a collector like the others but does also have Blackmail (Sweet Fruity) and Winter of 99 (Spicy Vanilla).
Simon 'Ghost' Riley
Simon of course loves musky, animalistic and even downright weird scents. Off duty he wants his smell to stick around after him. Something that makes people a little on edge around him. He also has a sense of humor so Fantomas by Nasomatto is his day to day off duty with notes of rubber, plastic, melon, smoke, gunpowder, candy, earth and patchouli. It's weird and a little off putting but at least no one will ask what he's wearing. He also likes Duro (spicy, animalistic) from the same brand but he only wears that when he's out with Johnny a date.

Game Assets Notes
These are plants shown in Dragon Age but aren't named in universe, just in their model files or through identification of the textures. Since most filler plant textures are just that of real world plants.
**NOTE:** When I mention they are not the known name of any plant, this comes with the caveat of being popular common names. Common names are highly variable and inconsistent. They depend on regional knowledge and association. Some travel farther than others. Common names are also not reliable identifiers.
Acacia: Black Wood ~ Note: Black Wood is a type of acacia. Both acacia and black wood are named assets.
Artichoke ~ Note: Identification comes from asset name, the artichoke flower is used as ornamentation of a box.
Banyan Tree
Boxwood ~ A type of shrub, identification comes from asset name.
Bradford Pear ~ Their fruits are edible, however their flowers are known to emit a smell akin to rotting meat. Identification comes from asset name.
Calla Lily ~ Note: Not named but identified by the texture used. It is seen in Val Royeaux planters.
Cattail ~ Note: Seen through out DAO and DAI, identification comes from asset name.
Coleus ~ Note: Not named but identified by the texture used. It is seen in Val Royeaux planters and in the Frostback Basin.
Crape Myrtle
Cypress: Italian Cypress, Topiary Cypress ~ Note: In terms of the Italian Cypress, in world it wouldl likely be called the "Antivan Cypress" given that Antiva is pulling from Italian culture, food, environments, and other inspirational elements. Cypress is a plant that is named in canon.
Daikon Radish ~ Note: Found on Dennet's farm, identification comes from asset name.
Dogwood
Elephant Ear ~ Note: Foliage found in the Frostback Basin, identification comes from asset name.
Fade Berry
Fern: Red Fern, Sword Fern ~ Note: The red fern isn't a real plant and therefore can be considered unique to Thedas. In contrast the sword fern is a real plant. Identification comes from the asset name for both of these ferns.
Forest Clover
Foxleaf ~ Note: This is another plant that is not real, no plant has this common name as far as I could find.
Gasbloom ~ Note: Seen in the Arbor Wilds, the Frostback Basin some elven ruins, and the elven ruins of multiplayer levels. Their identification comes from the asset name. There are two versions of the texture the "fixed" version is used in JoH dlc and thus explains the difference in appearance. This is not the name of a known mushroom.
Hero Tree
Palm: Curly Palm, Fan Palm ~ Note: Both palms are seen in the Frostback Basin, both are identified by their named assets.
Pear Cactus ~ Note: Found in the Frostback Basin, identification comes from the asset name.
Pine: Chir Pine
Ponga Tree ~ Note: Also known as the 'Tree Fern'. This is the tree you see in Val Royeaux garden as coming from Par Vollen, and throughout the Arbor Wilds.
Redwood ~ Note: Identified by the name of the file asset. Found in the Winter Palace, Exalted Plains, and on multiplayer maps.
Snapdragon
Trex
Waterweed ~ Note: In real life this is an entire genus not one particular plant. Though the six plants in this genus do share the common name of waterweed.
White Birch
Witchhazel
Additional Notes and Trivia
Ironwood - Unclear if this is an alternative name, the actual name of the plant, or both.
Morel - This mushroom is inferred due to the existence of Blighted Morel. However it is not explicitly specified there is a non-blighted morel.
Sponge Root - Though canonical as it is mentioned and shown in World of Thedas vol. 2 on pg. 138 with a collection of deep mushroom and surface mushroom illustrations. This mushroom was cut twice from Inquisition. It was cut from the base game as a craftable, it had a much different appearance from its final design, and then it was cut again from Trespasser. It does however still make an appearance in Inquisition as the inventory icon for Crystal Grace.
Unnamed Glowing Mushroom Is mentioned in multiplayer when there are two Lukas playing.
Unnamed Mushroom These brown mushrooms are seen in the Fallow Mire and the Frostback Basin. They are shown in two different sizes ranging from shorter than a dwarf to taller than one.
There is one unlisted mushroom, its assets is named "red mushroom" and thus is identified by textures. These is not a canon name but is included for completeness. Amanita Muscaria: More commonly know as fly agaric or fly amanita, the red top with white spots is an iconic in its imagery. You will find large swaths of these mushrooms in the Frostback Basin. Their assets is named "Red Mushroom".
Winterberry is a real plant. However, from what we see in DA2, it does not the same as the plant we have in the real world, just a shared common name.
Wormroot is another real plant name. However, due to the description in The Calling, it does not seem to be the same plant. In The Calling it is used to treat the venom of a giant spider. The real world plant is used to treat parasites in the gut and does not seem to hold any shared uses in folk lore, folk medicine, or western medicine practices.

What about cocktails for the different pairings?
I don't drink, so I can't really answer 🙈
HOWEVER I will use this opportunity to make an elaborate defense of my ice cream choices. 😌
Ocarina: Coffee Almond Fudge
Listen. It's mature. It's decadent. There's a hint of bitterness. It makes you feel sophisticated. The almond bits give you something to bite into. It's DIVINE and if YOU DON'T LIKE IT then MAYBE it's because you don't understand the SEDUCTIVE ALLURE of the BROKEN and MISERABLE!!!
The Wind Waker: Black Cherry
It's fresh. It's delightful. It's a little sinister. You think you know what it is going in and then BAM. It's not cherry flavored it's ALMOND flavored with ACTUAL BLACK CHERRY CHUNKS. Like whaaat? When did this fruity cartoony dessert turn out to be so complicated and full of girlboss pirate Tetra potential? And if you don't like it YOU PROBABLY DON'T LIKE CEL-SHADING EITHER!!!
Twilight Princess: Basil Lime Sorbet
Ooh! It's tart, it's lush, it dances on the tongue. It's for foodies and people who genuinely enjoy the complexities of crafting something elegant and delicate out of the unexpected. It's for THE BOLD. It's for THE FEARLESS. It's for GROWN UPS!!!!
Skyward Sword: Vanilla soft serve
I mean. It's sweet and inoffensive. It appeals to the masses. It brings out the youth in all of us. But it's not very daring is it?
Breath of the Wild: Grasshopper
Mint cookies and cream. Mint! It's so solid. Refreshing on a hot day, full of dark crumbled cookie goodness. It's literally a KNIGHT and HIS PRINCESS and the SACRIFICES THEY MAKE FOR EACH OTHER IN THE FACE OF OVERWHELMING ODDS. Like. You don't even need a waffle cone! It is IT'S OWN MEAL. I eat Grasshopper on a sugar cone instead of LUNCH. I sit on the ridge of a hillside cow pasture and eat my grasshopper ice cream and I am content.

Some notes on keeping a witch friendly house.
A red candle on your stove stands in for the hearth.
A lime cut and put in a bowl of salt water for a few hours will absorb negative energies.
Sweep 2 inches off the ground, from the furthest point from your door, to the door and out.
Blow cinnamon through your front door the first of every month.
Witch's bells on your exterior doors, witch's balls over your windows. They can be used not just to keep out the bad but invite in the good. Add some rose petals and orange rind there, some mint and basil. Bring in what you want to live in your home.
Macrame is excellent for complex knot spells and you can hang it as decoration. Add crystal beads aligned with the intent of the spell for extra juice.
Get river rocks (the flat ones.) Draw sigils or runes on them for protection or to invite blessing. (I use baneful runes on the back of them in case anything disregards it.) If you have kids it can be camouflaged by painting on the rock anywhere the rune is not visible.
Ward your windows. Protective oils, draw on a sigil or rune just like the stones.
Line your window sill (between the glass and screen) with a mix of black salt, red brick dust, and ground black tourmaline.
Place that same mix under a mat at your doors -- do NOT us a "Welcome" mat, you never know what will take that as an invitation.
In your entryway, have a pretty bowl with onyx, obsidian, black tourmaline, red jasper, and smoky quartz. Also a plant -- jade plants are very nice for that -- and a white candle. Light the candle before you open the door. It'll keep people from tracking their negative energies in.
Bedroom, similar bowl with a favorite of love stone, passion stones, and heart chakra stones. There are so many that you can take your pick. Make sure there's at least a bit of green, a bit of pink, a bit of red, and a bit of white in your room, even if it's just a painting. I also go with some blue for calming sleep. You can use a bit of purple if you're looking for prophetic dreams as well.
I know everyone recommends a sea theme for your bathroom because there's water, but honestly, the element is already there so only use it if you like it. Do however have water safe crystals and a good eucalyptus arrangement on your shower head, and sigil your hair and body products for the effect you want.
If, like me, you live where nature is trying to kill you 350 days a year, bring nature indoors. Yes it does lack the chaos and wild energy of the outdoors, but plants all over, desktop fountains, crystals or rocks, celining fans, candles galore.... those elements will help you find balance and keep you connected.

Fairy Names Pt. 2
Fly with you! It’s been a while hasn’t it? Anyway, I’m here for a second part of one of my most popular posts.
The first post listed fairy names that were used in the DS game “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue” in the create-a-fairy section of the game. While the names provided were feminine, I have pulled all of the masculine fairy names from the original Pixie Hollow game. Some names are repeats from the original post, but I kept them in as I wanted to get this out as soon as possible. I hope you enjoy. Here’s the original post.

Candlemaking today! Various stages of curing 😄 Moon beam, love spell, wild rose & oak, and mandarin lime basil. Plus fresh rain that got made a couple days ago. Most of these jars were pasta sauce or pickle jars and once empty, I sanitize and deodorize them for reusing!

truly lost my mind today with the amount of treats I bought from the grocery store and farm store, but here’s my haul
from the farm store, all local: vanilla yogurt, two types of cheese, maple sheep milk yogurt, sourdough, wild berry with basil and lime probiotic soda, wild ramp kimchi, champagne currants!
from the grocery store: little devil squeaky ball for my dog, chocolate and red berries granola, chocolate hazelnut and almond butter, blood orange marmalade, Kerry gold butter, wild smoked Alaskan salmon fillets, and chocolate coconut macaroons
