— a wip series intro

↳ “You know,” she speaks softly, stepping out to lean against the banister. “We’re both named after the night.”

Genre -> Romance, Drama, Super Powers

POV -> Third Person

Themes -> Love, Trust, Trauma, Healing, Good vs Evil, Faith vs Doubt, Opposites, Heroism, Identity, Redemption and Corruption.

Vibes -> A fire pit frosted over, masks hidden under the floorboards, a loose thread on a long sleeve shirt, sunlight on hardwood floors, gold glitter in purple ink, the intimacy of sleeping beside someone you trust and the quiet truth of midnight.

Blurb -> Two Supers fall in love, unaware that the other is a Super as well. Unaware that one is a rogue Hero and the other is one of the most wanted Villains, but hey. Love conquers all… right?

Note -> This WIP being a series means that it will consist of several standalone pieces and perhaps smaller series but will all focus on one of those two OCs. The WIP tag is like an umbrella term to keep them all together.

Synopsis:

When she decides to settle, to finally bury the mask and give normality a shot, she expects it to be hard. She expects to break, every now and then, unearthing the costume she loves as much as she hates to slip out into the night.

She expects the transition to be brutal, and it is.

What she does not expect is the girl she falls in love with — to fall in love at all. Who is she, to be happy, after all she’s done? But it feels like normal, the lazy Sundays she’s always heard about but never had. And despite the past — the shame that leers over her subconscious, the horror of actions she realized the truth of too late, the memory of her costume itching her skin — she lets herself settle. Get comfortable. Start to trust again.

Then comes the truth, tearing everything apart.

A laugh bubbled out of Rand’s mouth entirely on its own, a bright happy sound buoyed by the overwhelming golden feeling that grew from Rand’s chest and spilled over, too big for his body to contain. He felt giddy, hysterical even. His body was vibrating with the high of what they had just done, with the power of Mat’s words, but his mind couldn’t seem to catch up, skipping helplessly ten steps behind. Was he in love with Mat? But that wasn’t- How could-

“But I love Egwene.”

Hello yes I am intensely curious about what the WIP titled "Clogged Shower Thoughts" is

It's an unfinished Lethal Company drabble that serves as a character exploration of one of my OCs, Mat the Inventory Appraiser. Mostly it focuses on his life post-life changing TBI and the loss of his twin brother.

It's a pretty miserable experience due to the position he was forced into, especially since Mat isn't... In the best state of mind or the easiest guy to get along with. Also his brother's ghost is very much haunting him, so overall his sanity is not great due to paranormal influences nor can he really move on from this tragedy.

Here's a snippet:

Eventually Mat unclogs the drain. The water swirls back down in a soothing manner that calms him more than actually getting under the hot spray. He's grown numb to the flitting comfort of a hot shower. It's just a flimsy little luxury The Company offers to appease the naive. He's not that gullible anymore. He dutifully ignores the unreachable figure beyond the misted glass. Scrubs himself down and doesn't stare at the hand-prints that form outside of the barrier between himself and the rest of the ship interior. Tries not to falter when a frowny face is carefully doodled above said hand-prints.

this is a really good question!

so part 7 (the next part) will be the official last part of the series, part 8 will be sort of an epilogue? i contemplated bringing ella's birth mom into the mix during the main series, but i didn't want to have drama just for drama's sake, it felt like i was doing too much when the main goal was just to get mat and mama to fall in love and admit it to each other.

but with that being said, i do have plans to write a little something something where baby mama tries to come back into mat and ella's lives and how mat, mama, and even ella handle that situation, but i have a few more things to write before i get there

It was strange to have George so close, to walk right beside him without a weapon in his hand or mask covering his face—because Dream should hurt him without thinking or feeling remorse. But instead, George had snuck his way into Dream’s heart and made him forget just how dangerous it was to let a hunter do that. It was strange, because Dream thought he’d long since lost the capacity to love someone. It was something he had buried alongside his mother, pushed beneath the dirt on her grave and the flowers set on top; or the soldiers he’d cut down on the battlefield, whose blood still clung to the handle of his axe like a reminder of his own cruelty. But George had unearthed it all with his soft smiles and even softer lies. And, despite knowing better, Dream let him.
