🐈🌈📚 for WIP ask game? [ellie-e-marcovitz 😊]
4. 🐈 CAT: Does the world of your WIP have any superstitions or folklore?
Pirates and sailors were a superstitious folk, and most of their believes (that I know of) carry into my (about to be rewritten) Pirate story. People aren't too happy to see either a ginger or a woman on board a ship, and the name of Davy Jones is only uttered in hushed voices.
11. 🌈 RAINBOW SLOTH: Wild card! Share one thing about your WIP that you have been waiting to be asked about!
With Crimson Tide being an AU story, I thought transitioning it from it's former state into an original story would be a walk in the park but same as with When Stars Ignite, the differences between a fandom story (no matter how many fanfic elements it still contains) and an original work whose world and characters have to stand for themselves without any sort of context were bigger than expected. I'm still debating whether to expand on what I have or not, and if, to what extent.
Why must it always be so difficult? 🙄
10. 📚 BOOKCASE: Share a paragraph from your WIP.
A/N: This is not properly rewritten, just part of the tweaked parts to get a feeling for it. The fanfic names have been replaced, though.
From Depths So Dark, Chapter 3: The Raven
“Word travels fast. They have it you’re looking for a key. A key made of coral.”
“Word also has it that I’m rotting on the ocean floor. I wouldn’t give too much on it,” Kit said with an indifferent tone, but her eyes darted to the hand Will still had inside his pocket.
“They say you’re claiming you know how to find the legendary Coral Key that opens the Vault of Davy Jones,” Will continued as if he hadn’t heard Kit’s words, “but you need a ship to get to it. A ship and a crew.”
Kit turned to face him again. “So what if I know how to get to the key.” She narrowed her eyes. “There is no map marking the way to the island where it’s hidden.”
She turned to go when Will played his ace.
“You see,” he said casually, “that’s where you are mistaken. There is a map.”
Kit stopped dead in her tracks. “Where?”
“I have it. On my ship,” he clarified as Kit’s eyes darted back to the pocket of his coat. “You won’t get to it without me. Think about it - you know how, I know where.” He extended his hand. “Do we have a deal?”
Kit frowned at Will’s hand. Jack wondered if she would take it or cut it right off at the wrist.
After an awfully long moment she snorted and clasped her hand around Will's, who tried hard not to flinch. “We have a deal.”

just had (evil) thoughts
so Ed gets rid of the silk first, right? He lets it go to the wind. then he gets rid of Lucius, then all of Stede's nice things, then his crew (save for Jim and Frenchie).
he puts on the Big Bad Scary Kraken persona and says this:
"Farewell Bonnet's playthings. Onto the next."
does that. does that mean he views his red piece of silk as one of 'Bonnet's Playthings' as well?
does that mean that Ed thought his heart was being toyed with? but does that also mean that he nevertheless believed it still belonged to Stede?
like yes, you may have been reckless with it, but it was yours anyway.
and maybe that's part of why he abandons it. maybe he didn't think it belonged to him anymore. maybe it became Stede's the moment he held it with both hands and treated it with care despite how 'tatty and old' it was.
