I'm losing my mind, folks. I went home early, and was just gonna have a boring night putting away laundry. But then I got a notification...

SOMEONE AMAZING PODFICCED ONE OF MY FICS.

No one has ever done that for me before! I'm beside myself!

It's for Try Me, my Jaskier x Eskel Christmas fic (Eskel nation rise) where Eskel is the owner of a children's bookshop and Jaskier is a musician who comes in and sings to the kids. Eskel is harboring a huge crush on Jaskier, but hasn't had the confidence to date anyone since his accident. But Jaskier is harboring a secret of his own, that might just surprise him.

Go listen to it! It sounds so frickin professional and beautiful and LOVELY. I just sat and listened with a smile on my face. It's like a warm bath.

It's the perfect length for a little bon bon of a story (just under 40 minutes). Listen to it while you're driving! Doing chores! Whatever! Then go give them kudos and a comment and a follow if you enjoyed it.

We fic writers know what it is to labor over something for love, and what an honor it is when someone does it for us!

@lenalawlipop came up to me one day, asking me to arrange a song from @round--robin 's extraordinary fanfic "Soap, and the Scents of Home".

And I was excited to do it! I adore that story, and bringing to life part of it was, in a way, a beautiful tribute to the author and the joy they brought me.

Some words from the song needed minor changes to fit into the melody I came up with, but I think it works that way :)

As for the process, I thought about a bard with his lute up there in the mountains, wanting to please his wolves and express his love... so I restrained myself to simplicity. There are five or six chords total, just my voice and a guitar (actually three, but hush, don't tell, I needed layers in the chorus), and then on the road we go.

Geralt's muscles heave backwards, flinging him down against the bed. He tries to struggle upwards but it feels like he’s been buried beneath a mountain. Every inch of him is pressed completely still. His eyes close, and he’s left in the dark with nothing but his racing heart for company. He’s not tired, he’s never been less tired. But the curse wants him to sleep, it seems. It’ll force him to lie here until he does. How much of his life will it start to control, now that he’s declared war against it? Now that he knows it’s lurking in his bones, now that it doesn’t have to be subtle? He swallows. Takes a long, deep breath, gathering every bit of courage he has to stop himself from slipping back into panic. He still has control over his lungs. He still has that. For now. (Or: Witchers don't retire. They stay on the Path until it kills them. They hunt monsters and they want nothing from life. This isn't exactly by choice.)

One of my favorite things about fanfic is the existence of podfics. That said, I'm excited to share a few of my favorites with you! I tried to go for a wide range of fandoms so there should be something for everyone.
