My latest patch! Shoutout to NavyWolf from my twitch chat for stringing words together in a phrase that stuck with me long enough for me to make this out of it!

If you are wondering what this is the best explanation I can give is during last February I decided I wanted to do a swear jar thing on stream and during some on stream planning this phrase was said in chat. Somehow it just evoked such a powerful mental image for me that I had to make it something real. And reflecting on that, I feel like a lot of the art I make is over that exact same reason.

With how busy school had been I didn't actually start work on this patch till the end of March, where I dusted off my pixel art skills for the pattern.

After the pattern was finished up I basically just spent every moment of my free time (and some time I should've used for school work) working on the patch. I don't know why I was in such a rush since my own self imposed deadline could've stretched to basically next February, however my new sweater doesn't have any patches on it so I guess I wanted something for it as soon as I could.

I don't have much else to say about the process, it was fairly straightforward as far as patches go. I did find a nifty little website that includes colour picking with actual DMC or Anchor thread colours. I'll probably be using it from here on out for planning, although knowing me I will still be going back and forth between that and my phone's shitty little pixel art app.

Amazingly this one has more individual photos in it than the minecraft patch, but I think that's mostly the text cause I had an idea for how I wanted it to look in this gif once it was all done anyway.

What do you think of their decision to make Gale a teacher in his good ending? Earlier in the game, he says his attempted students’ ineptitudes irked him. Do you think he’s made enough of a change to make a good professor?

i'm of two minds about it:

i am going to be transparent here and say that i am a teacher myself. i studied, i did my teacher training, and i have been teaching for a good bit now - and some people are meant to be teachers, and some are not. it's one of those professions that you have to be born for, imo. it requires an immense amount of patience and perseverance, a certain intuition when it comes to your students, among many other things.

i have said before that i can see gale as a professor, but less so in a teaching position and more in a sort of research role.

so looking at this, i think what larian is trying to convey is that gale has settled into this new life he leads, that he's found his place in life. that he's finally worked to salvage that life instead of reaching for the stars.

he's content now, more than he's ever been before. he has returned to the home he missed so very much. he's spending his time surrounded with the people he loves. tara, morena, the player, his friends. and he's dedicated himself to the study of magic.

that feeling of being content, happiness and security and love, as well as the journey he's been on, too, may have quelled the things that caused him to feel so irked by his students prior to his journey, perhaps it has given him a new perspective on things, the low lows and high highs he experienced.

but i also think that larian does listen to community feedback - imo too much at times - and this was a intensely popular headcanon for gale.

i have taken a look for you at the files for the epilogue and the notes in it seem to echo my thoughts overall:

His default state is that he returned to Waterdeep and became a professor of Illusory magic at his former school, Blackstaff Academy. General vibe here is that this a Gale who's found peace with himself - he's a great teacher, one his students are mostly in awe of.

alright now for the clover patch au portion of the poll-voted rambling!! this is gonna be a longer post but it’s going to be an overview of how each clover feels towards the other (and a certain flower too :3)

(for reference, gold = genocide clover, soul = neutral route clover, and just clover is pacifist route/the main clover of this run. also, soul will be colored when referring to the character, while it will be the default color when referring to a regular human soul.)

clover’s thoughts:

clover -> gold

clover is Very Confused by gold. one of the first things they did was point a gun at their soul, but then they proceeded to teach them how to survive in the underground. peacefully, despite the clear signs of wear and tear on their clothes that clover is fairly certain would not just appear from traveling. sure, they can be blunt… most of the times, but clover doesn’t have any reason to not trust them. they’ll just… keep an eye on them for now. (though they doubt they could do anything against a real gun.)

clover -> soul

if clover was confused by gold, then clover feels that way about soul multiplied by about ten. they barely know how their soul works in general, then it just. suddenly contorts into their image. they find soul to be very spooky, even barring the lack of facial expressions and their inability to communicate without sign language or… text boxes? clover is confident that they are pretty good at reading people, yet soul is quite literally a blank slate. the only emotion clover can manage to parse from them is anxiousness, if their jumpiness is anything to go by.

clover -> flowey

clover never got the chance to actually talk to the flower. although he seemed nice enough, gold’s attitude towards him suggests that something isn’t as it seems… they would ask him about it, if gold and soul didn’t try to shoot him on sight every time he’s attempted conversation.

gold’s thoughts:

gold -> clover

“naive. i can’t let them repeat my mistakes.”

gold -> soul

“…a victim to this cycle. just like all of us, i suppose. at least they could break free in some way.”

gold -> flowey

“he’s planning something, i know he is. the underground isn’t right, and if i’ve noticed that then he has too. i won’t let him put our mission in jeopardy.”

soul’s thoughts:

soul -> clover

* a sign of hope. maybe they’ll be the one to break free. maybe they will never be trapped in the first place.

soul -> gold

* strange. the dust on them is… worrying, though. just what did they do?

soul -> flowey

Been forgetting to use here because I’m using bluesky more shocking I know but god having Kikaider worms AGAIN and at some point I’m gonna need to go through the manga again just to compare everything in the anime even if it be very very long because really reading the manga in like a entire day because I was bored and brain rotted from my rewatch solidified the anime harder as not just one of my favorite animes but my favorite adaptation for a manga I think-

I need to read more manga in general though but wow they fucking cooked so hard which is why I’ll forever be conflicted if a new anime does end up happening with that one post I put awhile ago

actually not done with the mario kart 64 thing i was making, got to 3k lines of code today woo

calculated each characters section and each one takes like 2k lines of code by themselves so that's cool and it also means the final thing will be like 16k lines long to get everything working nicely

the thing already works but i still need to get the actual output in there, just got done with like one third of mario's data, took a few hours so i should have it ready in a few days maybe
