"So… were you born or made?" Skizz asks slowly.

Bdubs can't stop himself from laughing. "That's definitely a question to ask on your second date."

"Third date if you count, ya know." It makes a motion with its hand and finger, the lewd implications bringing Bdubs back to them in a clearing against a rocky slope.

"So was every affirmation you gave a date?" Bdubs asks playfully as they roll on their side, grass curling underneath them.

"You're avoiding the question, Dubs." Skizz giggles.

"Yeah, yeah, but why do you even want to know?"

"Curiosity, and I wanna see if I'm right."

The dryad huffs, moving to trace a hand over the angel's cheek.

"I was born from a leaf, happy?" They take a lighthearted tone, no true heat behind the hostile words.

"So I was right." Skizz smiles. "You seemed like the type, but– sorry, I'm getting too invasive if I ask that."

The angel wraps a wing around them. "I know their original spawns are important for most nature spirits and have to be hidden."

"It's fine…" He murmurs. "It's– well it's complicated. My birth server is closed off now, me n' my brother can return when we want, but it's not like I want to…"

Skizz smiles as it kisses his cheek. Soft and gentle, but endlessly warm.

"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."

He hums, stopping for a moment to listen to the purr under his ear. Well, it's less of a purr and more something bird-like somehow, caught somewhere between a tiger's chuff and a songbird's trill.

"Since you already got to ask me; where did you come from? You're the only angel I've ever met and it's– I'm nosey and curious, I'd love to learn."

There's a brightness behind Skizz's eyes, barely hidden joy as he smiles.

"Do you know anything about how angels work?"

"Other than how you work down there, no."

Skizz laughs, a boisterous sort of thing as its chest shakes and rattles.

"What? It's true!" Bdubs yelps.

"True but–" It barely manages to get out. "It made me think how good you look under me, I got distracted!"

"Just answer the question, stupid."

"Okay, fine, I'm on it. Just don't complain when I keep you here for hours."

Despite the sun and the smaller worry he'd get burned, or the idea they'd be there until mobs start spawning, Bdubs can't find it in himself to be upset with that. The angel's wings, pristine and white, always looked beautiful during the day, but the idea of getting to see it at dusk almost felt dizzying.

"Deal."

Those wings shift, Skizz stretching out his arm and spreading his fingers.

"So gods, right? Those things above us all? They're real, kinda, but they need helpers so they made angels and demons." It then laughs. "Don't believe some stories, by the way. Demons aren't inherently or instinctually evil, they just sound big n' angry from living in the nether."

"How did demons get there?"

"No clue, but there's a bunch of stories and legends about what might've happened." Skizz nudges Bdubs closer to it, chuffing as it kisses him again. "But that's not really what we're here for. Maybe ask Impulse or Tango later, I'm sure they have their own legends.

"But with the gods thing, each has their own meaning and reason. You have gods of life, death, love, war, so on."

"And you?" Bdubs asks almost cautiously.

"It– it's kinda confusing to explain, but they're a god of the hearth."

"God of the what?"

"Hearth." It says as it laughs. "She's– they're kind of a protective god and a storyteller."

He brushes his hand over Skizz's cheek again, stubble scratchy under his palm. "Sometimes I forget you're something holy and important."

"I'm really not, just another guard and sorta follower of a god no one really talks about."

Bdubs moves to lay on Skizz, one hand resting on his cheek while the other lays on the angel's chest.

"I know you're already going to, but I'd love to hear more." Bdubs says softly. "About your life, this god you follow."

"I don't really follow her, angel's don't always have to." It laughs, then its feathers puff out. "Oh, do you want to hear about when I first met Dipple?"

He doesn't stop his partner, there's really no way he can as the day passes. A dulled chuff-trill under his cheek, laughter and smiles, the sunset dancing across hair and skin and reverberating off of snowy white feathers.

Neither of them really notice, trapped in story after story after story.

Regarding the title: 分かれ道 is Japanese for "crossroad." This is clearly meant to be a deliberate callback to…well, Crossroad. However, the original Reminisce event by that name spelled the word out in katakana (essentially just slapping the English word in there directly, but written with JP characters). Given certain details in this event, you're clearly meant to be like, "Hey, this is Crossroad!" while also being able to tell something's a little bit off. Unfortunately, English doesn't conveniently have a second way of rendering words, so I've chosen "Forked Road" to keep a bit of that connection without straight up just calling it Crossroad.

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my blog!

As outlined here, my New Year’s Resolution for 2024 was to do something for my art every day. Whether writing, drawing, watching/studying, exploring or reading—I’d do something to sharpen my artistic focus daily.

As the year has gone by, I’ve documented some of the process on Tumblr. The tag “#Fiona’s Art Journal” has both reflections and artistic works, and “#Poetry” has an index of poems. This post is an index, and I’ll update it with hyperlinks to journals, art posts, and other favs.

NB: Aside from theatre and art posts, much of this blog is fandom posting about whatever (usually queer) media has most recently captured my interest. You can track various Strange New Worlds, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Supergirl and House of the Dragon rotations (to name a few), along with other shows/movies on my list. I will probably spend the rest of 2024 crying about Agatha All Along (as WandaVision is an all-time favorite media & I’ve waited 2 years, since the night before I graduated undergrad, for Jac Schaeffer to fix this mess). 5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! Comments mean that someone took the time to read my fic and something stuck with them enough to tell me about it. It makes me feel appreciated, and I want my readers to feel appreciated in turn. :3

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oof, probably Shadowed Heart, which is my first rare pair fic (Fashav/Ritakka). I promise to give them a happier ending in my series.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I'd say To Know Peace has the happiest ending so far.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I got a couple of comments on Bonding Moments about some choices I'd made that rubbed me the wrong way, but I haven't gotten hate publicly or privately. I think it helps that Horizon is still relatively small in the fanfic/fanart space and I don't share my ship-specific fics on the subreddit for the games.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do and I have no shame, hehe. It's mostly M/F and very light on kinks. Other than my Kinktober drabbles, the raunchiest fic I've written is Early Exit.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No crossovers. They're kinda tricky to get right.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

To my knowledge, no, but I haven't checked FF.net or Wattpad to confirm.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope. Spanish is my native language, but I have no plans to translate my fics from English to Spanish.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

@jadefyre and I have a smut fic in the works that we started earlier this year. Also, not co-written but @murmart made a beautiful art of Fashav/Ritakka for my fic Heavy in Your Arms. :3

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Definitely Aloy/Kotallo. Not only did seeing their dynamic and conjuring up ship possibilities get me to write again after a long hiatus, but it's also allowed me to become part of a community of amazing creators both in the Kotaloy Elysium Discord server and beyond. n.n

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't necessarily think I'll leave any of my WIPs unfinished, but some are a little more complicated than others in terms of getting them to meet my own standards (yeah, I'm my harshest critic).

With longfics, I've since learned to write until completion and then start posting, only because I don't enjoy the self-imposed pressure to update something that's already out there since life can be really uncertain at times.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue! It takes me such a long time, but I love nailing the voices of the characters correctly and having readers comment on that and their characterization. However, I do find speeches a bit cumbersome to write because every word has so much weight to them, even though I do enjoy the end result.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I struggle with describing environments/settings, because I never know if I'm being descriptive enough to paint a full picture for the reader.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think if it's a few sentences here and there is fine, but anything else might make it inaccessible to part of the readership unless it's stated in the author's note that the fic will feature two or more different languages.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Horizon, though I wrote a (thankfully never published) fic for Final Fantasy VII when I was around 13 years-old; trust me, it wasn't good and I still cringe thinking about the plot. HOWEVER, I miss that feeling of writing without caring about the end result, of just having a deluge of words on paper with a somewhat coherent narrative thread.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

It's hard to pick only one because all of my fics are special in their own way, but I'll go with Hurricane Drunk because I had so much fun describing Kotallo being drunk and struggling with confessing his feelings for Aloy in a humorous way.

Hell yes, always.

6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Still this one:

Lascia Ch'io Pianga (Let Me Lament My Cruel Fate) for the James Bond (Movies) fandom. Although it does have an ambiguous ending, almost everyone who commented on it said they assumed that Bond & M both died.

7 - What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

The vast majority of them have happy endings as I rarely write sad ones.

8. Do you get hate on fic?

Used to back in the day when I wrote Ten/Martha fic for Doctor Who. There were a lot of Doctor/Rose shippers who hated my pairing with a passion and didn’t hesitate to share that hate instead of just staying in their fucking lane and using the back button/scroll button. Bunch of snowflakes.

9. Do you write smut?

Used to, not so much lately.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I have done, yes. The craziest one is probably the Doctor Who x Wallace & Gromit one.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yup - a few years ago someone translated one of mine into Russian.

A long, long time ago.

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

Eh, I don’t have just one - given I’ve written for 20 different fandoms over the last 16 years.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?

Oh, I’ve no idea - I only have one incomplete WiP actually posted on AO3, but I’ve no particular desire to finish it, especially given it’s 6 or 7 fandoms ago!

Of course, I have a whole heap of WiPs on my hard drive, but I doubt I’ll get to finish any of them.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Goodness knows. Someone else would have to answer that.

I have been told I write too much. Ironic, really, given how little I’ve written this past year.

I’d do it if it’s needful, though I don’t think I have.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Korean dramas “fandoms”.

“Sohn: The Guest”, “Voice”, “Glitch”, “Beyond Evil” and “A Time Called You” etc so far. Except for TG and “Voice”, I don’t have more than one work in the other “fandoms”.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

1. To Be a Part of You (Kang Kwon Joo/Mo Tae Gu) - Collection of related, smutty one shots.

2. Gossip (Kang Gil Young/Choi Yoon/Yoon Hwa Pyeong) - Mini one shot. There is mention of children.

3. Dying Just to Feel You by My Side (KKJ/MTG) - The starting story for the series ‘To Be A Part of You’ is in. Literal relationship negotiations (with a stalker).

4. Fly Me to The Moon (Hong Ji Hyo/Heo Bo Ra) - Collection of 100-word drabbles for this pair of chaotic, gorgeous cuties.

5. Brass Blossoms (KKJ/MTG) - Collection of 100-word drabbles.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why? Why not?

I always do.

I get very little interaction and try to respond to anyone kind enough to leave a comment (except for trolling ones).

Each and every comment is deeply appreciated.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?.

None. Am a HE/A-supremacist. I also can’t do angst, mostly due to skill issues.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

All are relatively happy.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

So far, only one. On a fic for a rare pair in a relatively larger fandom. It was a mild “hate” comment(s) and was more hilarious to me than anything.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. All kinds, but mostly the vanilla flavoured ones, and not descriptively explicit. Even the “dub-con” and CNC ones are tepid.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Yes. Not crazy as much as I had lots of fun with other crack pairing(s) to fawn over.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of. I mostly write rare pairs in minuscule, obscure fandoms. Nothing worth stealing.

Stealing anything fan work is abhorrent, however, so please don’t.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No. But I have translated a fic to English - from an amazing writer - for one of the rare pairs I write for.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

Kang Gil Young/Choi Yoon.

I have too many favourites - from other fandoms, i.e., HaruMichi, Everlark, Mileven, Silverparry, Reylo, Romanogers, Nevmione etc, and all are special and unique to me - to put one at the top, but as one I write for (and visuals wise), KGY/CY is undoubtedly my favourite.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

You Are Not Allowed series. It is left as “completed” because I am just a snippet/single scene/one shot scribbler, but there is supposed to be an endgame there that I doubt I will ever write for again, though the ending is there in my mind.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Boringly straightforward and dry. It is not a strength but one I have to live with.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot! Dialogue! Prose. Description of scenes, objects, characters. Well, basically everything.

I don’t have any pretensions I can write (or ever had any aspirations for writing), but am desperate to have my rare pairs occupy my mind for longer while I fixate on them, so… and scribbling word vomit is quite fun, so I scribble whenever my rare pairs visit me.

Haven’t done it.

A call from his dad ruins Brad Shepard’s plans for a relaxing weekend off work. He has to pick up his high school memorabilia collection from his dad’s place before Monday if he wants to save it from the dump. Time for an eight-hour road trip! Brad’s boyfriend, Sean, tags along for moral support. Along the way, a flat tire leads to an argument that threatens their relationship.

With the boys gone for the night, April and Jaime decide to throw a sleepover with April’s friend Nisha, the cute college girl from across the hall. Despite a rocky start, Nisha and Jaime get along better than April could’ve hoped. A night of movies, snacks, Truth or Dare, and karaoke ensues, though they’ve got to keep it down to avoid a visit from their cranky, homophobic landlord.

Moving day rewrite - Magnolia Way book #1, 14k of about 20, I felt like I could make some vast improvements with a rewrite, so I’m working on it!

Phase shift - Nyctophobia book #1, 99k, Sci-fi novel about a small-town family fighting interdimensional aliens and the government trying to cover up the invasion. In revisions.

Inertia - Nyctophbia book #2, 80k, I have about 15-18k left I think. I focused on this one a lot during Nov 2022 Nanowrimo and April 2023 Camp Nano, but I haven't worked on it much since. I could use some cheer readers, if anyone wants to read it and help me wrangle the ending.

"Many Hands" - I submitted a pitch for a polyam erotica anthology and I'm waiting to hear back if I got in!
