He literally learned how to be a peak lord of the scholarly peak within months, even though his loveable unreliable narrator self makes it unclear how much knowledge he got from the original goods (cultivation and muscle memory are in tact to some degree, at least)

Textual evidence: “ As Shen Qingqiu had, since his arrival, been furiously reviewing various manuals, he had also recently seen a description of it.”(ch1) where he recalls a specific technique and uses it in the moment. “Shen Qingqiu had no say in any of it. As such, he had diligently trained for numerous days, single-mindedly seeking to make his abilities second nature…” (ch 1) yeah so this goes into the having to relearn everything category.

He’s also a walking monster/PIDW encyclopedia. I think his most impressive memory feat [spoiler] is navigating the Holy Mausoleum’s traps better than Tianlang-Jun. note that at this point it’s been years since he read the original book, the Mausoleum is very large, and yet he’s familiar with all the main rooms he encounters, and it’s been years since he read PIDW (the source book). He uses this knowledge to escape/outsmart Tianlang-jun.

Any intelligence he has is made up for by his loss of IQ points around the protagonist, though. And his general obliviousness to those around him.

Xue Xian- Copper Coins / Tong Qian Kan Shi

Qualifications:

Protagonist of a danmei (Chinese BL) webnovel, in committed relationship with a man by the end of the story. Due to pre-canon injury, he is paraplegic for most of the story, though he slowly recovers his mobility during the course of it by returning his stolen body parts (it may make more sense in context: hes an immortal dragon).

Propaganda:

In short: paraplegic gay dragon :D Longer version: An immortal dragon paralyzed from waist down and stuck in the mortal world after someone attacked him and made off with half his body (dragon body parts all have uses in magic or medicine). Meets an amnesiac monk and they end up going on adventure together to recover lost memories (the monk) and lost body parts (the dragon). Their dynamic is significant annoyances to lovers <3 One interesting detail: though Xue Xian can change forms, his paraplegia remains in all of them, whether he is a paper doll, a human, a big noodle, a smol noodle... (yeah he has big & small dragon forms. that time he turned into a smol noodle and wrapped himself around his future bf's wrist lives in my brain rent-free tbh) Significant part of his drive to recover his stolen bones is to be able to fly again, btw, in his true (big dragon) form. ...To make sure I'm not misleading anyone: he does recover full mobility by the end of the story, BUT his disability is a very significant part of the novel.

Xue Xian (Copper Coins (Tong Qian Kan Shi) (铜钱龛世))

● A literal dragon in canon m/m relationship. Got stuck in the mortal world after getting grievously injured (he's paraplegic for most of the story) and ended up going on an adventure to retrieve his missing body parts with this one amnesiac Buddhist monk he accidentally met. They butt heads a lot in the beginning, but slowly fall in love over the course of the novel. Also while Xue Xian does have a human form, he also comes in big noodle and smol noodle variants (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) As a smol noodle, he wraps around his bf's wrist like a bracelet!

● Is he a dragon? Yes! Xue Xian is a dragon god who got his spinal column stolen (yeah it's kinda complicated) and now journeys across the land searching his bones because he wants his spinal column back, damn it.

Is he gay? Yes! Along the way, he encounters this quiet, stoic, so-damn-annoying bald monk guy named Xuanmin whom he does not like, okay?!? He doesn't like him at all! Sure, he ripped out his dragon scale as a gift for him, but that's only because Xuanmin helped him first and he doesn't wanna be indebted! Sure, he feels compelled to annoy Xuanmin 24x7, but that's only because Xuanmin deserves it! Sure, he thinks Xuanmin's wrists look lovely, but that doesn't mean anything, he's just being objective, you know?!? He doesn't like this guy at all!!! (Spoilers: He totally does, and they end up spending the rest of their immortal lives together as lovers, bickering for all eternity.)

Propaganda Under the Cut:

Cinderella / Aschenputtel / Cendrillon:

I love all Cinderellas but the Grimm version refocuses the story away from magical aid and transforms it into a story of the ability of grief to conversely power hope. ashenputtel weeps over the grave of her dead mother so much a beautiful tree grows out,  with the voice of her mother guiding her and giving her the gown and shoes that ultimately get her to the ball. It turns Cinderella from a kind of passive receiver to a woman whose own love, in a way, saves her—her grief cycles into new joys, her love for the dead changes her for a new life. Idk it’s just a tremendously hopeful, haunting story, grounded in sorrow and love as our ways of guiding into the future.

Her slippers aren't made of glass, thankfully. Also, her step-sisters are blinded by birds who like Cinderella, apparently, on the day of the wedding. (I had to check this, as I knew the sisters had parts of their feet cut off to fit the shoe, but I was sure the mother had something bad happen, but there was no mention of a comeuppance for her. I found it on grimmstories.com, so I'm not sure how accurate to the original it is.)
