Hey can you tell me about the creaturae plot? Cause I have no idea what it’s about

hoooo boy, this is gonna be a long one XDD

i'll start with saying that a lot is still up in the air, but there's a pretty solid skeleton of what i want to happen for certain characters and events.

imma put it under the cut because again. l o n g .

in the beginning, there was place where all stories end. a universe dedicated to the fragments and remains of all the stories that had been completed, or that never would be. and in the beginning, there was a grove, tucked into the folds of the universe, a single tree with red, green, and golden apples, guarded by three who did not know where they'd come from before.

paz, rev, and emi only ever knew the grove. each guarded a fruit, and they all guarded the grove together. not that anyone knew where it was to conquer it. one day, paz broke a twig from the tree and it transformed into a pencil, allowing her to access her powers of creation. rev discovered they could build their own creations. soon after, two doors appeared. paz entered one, and it vanished. rev and emi entered the other.

paz's door took her to what was known as a city-fragment. these floating bits of planet were essentially capitalist cities, run by mafia and banking clans and casinos. while there, she unknowingly entered a death-game. upon winning, she became a death-god as all others who won these games were. it was in this city she first met dorian, and while working with faem out of necessity (dorian is also a death-god) and eventually friendship, she used the name iden.

rev and emi landed in a world of magic and fantasy. a fragment of a long-since forgotten magical world. rev learned as much as they could, honing magic and their own power until they could learn no more. determined to gain more ability, they sought out the fabled death-games, participating in one and winning. they too became a death-god, taking on draconic features. the price? they could never return to the magic-fragment, as the citizens did not allow travelers from the city-fragments. rev and emi moved on.

rev had a vision. they brought together fragments and bits of worlds, shaping and forming them into the donut-shaped planet now known as creaturae. creaturae, for it was the last name rev had given themself. some fragments, such as the isolated city-fragments, were left untouched. but iden and dorian sensed the powerful death-god rev had become, and travelled to creaturae to investigate.

the three had reunited. iden took the name parzival, and along with rev and emi explored this new planet. dorian vanished, under the radar, and began to create the labyrinth that phased between worlds and connected creaturae to horrors and wonders yet unknown.

parzival became bored. she decided to create an island. one part of creaturae fully under her control. she found adrian- a character from a story she'd written with others, a crossover into reality. she brought him to creaturae, to the castle on her island, for his story had ended with the deaths of all the others. she formed a city, a replica of one adrian knew well. for some time there was peace, and quiet.

then it all shattered. characters from adrian's story were brought back through the librarian's timeline as fictionals- meaning they could only die the way they had in their story. other than that they were functionally immortal. adrian was reunited with lucien and jay, the three having been married for some time in the previous story (nicknamed the neapolitan trio). others had returned too, and settled into the city. (the story adrian, jay, and lucien are from is the coalition files, which me and a couple irl friends have been working on for a while. it's kind of sci-fi and superpower story thing and also very complicated lol).

disaster struck. other timelines were creeping in on creaturae, and parallels were springing up. those on parzival's island found themselves trapped living plots aligned with those in stories that had already occurred. conflict after conflict, even rev and emi getting involved to try and stop it. by the time it was brought to a close, nothing would ever be the same again. (this part follows dream smp plot points because i was hyperfixating on that when i wrote it, but it's only essential for character development, not a synopsis, so i won't go into a ton of detail).

during a massive battle, jay calls on her doppelgangers from other timelines of her story. two are most prominent: darkjay and white crow, each with powers similar and different to her own, with their own stories and tragedies lived. whit uses fire manipulation to burn away parzival's flight wings, leaving her defeated. she surrenders and is placed in prison under guard of jay. the parallels still raged for some time after this. while in prison, parzival takes on the name genesis, using he/him pronouns. rev isolates themself with emi, trying to avoid the parallels but only being drawn further into them.

it's revealed that the labyrinth, dorian's creation, is the cause of the parallels seeping into creaturae. in a final bid to break their hold, genesis is released from prison and assists rev, neapolitan trio, and the jay syndicate (the group jay and her doppelgangers formed) in finally freeing creaturae of the parallels. the labyrinth remained, but the power was under control.

rev formed an organization known as tahva (it's an acronym, idk what it stands for yet i just like it) to help them protect creaturae, the surrounding fragments, and the universe they reside in. they hire dorian to help them by monitoring the labyrinth, which fae agrees to (he's probably just bored tbh). emi helps rev any way he can.

genesis (once again using the name iden) and dorian mostly separate from the others, basically for everyones' mental health. after all, parzival was the mastermind behind the tragedies caused by the parallels, and dorian's labyrinth only worsened the problem. the two take up refuge in a woodland mansion as minecraft mechanics begin to affect creaturae, lowering the stakes by making death impermanent. dorian spends far less time at the mansion than iden does, travelling between city-fragments to help rev and tahva take down capitalist schemes, wandering the labyrinth, etc. but fae always make time for their friends.

iden has been through... a lot. i gave my sona just as much trauma as i did p much all the other unwilling participants, especially during his time in prison. everything after the parallels are defeated i refer to as "post-plot" because it's largely undefined (deliberately so) and is time reserved for all the characters to heal. because soft as i am, i can't let this end as a hurt/no comfort story. so heal they will, even if there's bumps along the way.

there's a lot i left out for the sake of trying to summarize this best as possible, i tried to include anything plot-important though.

So yeah,

It feels weird to come back here even if it's a more recent account. The first time I made a tumblr account was when I was 13 and back then I was already really depressed because of trauma, my relationship with my parents and the fact that they were always saying that I faked being depressed and was just being dramatic and other shitty stuff.

Back then they thought I was a gay girl too but yeah I'm a bi trans boy and it makes everything so damn harder because everytime I try to talk about my mental health my mom just says that it's JUST because I'm trans and I should just be patient and wait to be 18 to start a transition while yes, dysphoria and the fact that my family isn't really supportive make me sad but my mental health has been getting so damn bad.

I've never really been a happy child, my parents divorced when I was 3-4, my mom found my stepdad who has always been an asshole to me and my little brother because we are not his "real" kids and would always yell at us and hit my brother and my mom has always been depressive and mentally ill (Ed, depression and trauma) so she is scared of him ig, anyways, she just never said anything about it, even when she noticed that we were really scared of him.

My bio father was supposed to take us at his place every weekend but after a year he stopped coming and dissappeared for 9 years. At the same time I started to get bullied at school by older kids and some kids in my class and I didn't have any friends because it was a shame for them to be friend with me.

At 11, I have been sexually assaulted by an older kid (he was 15 or something) leaving me with trauma.

At 12 I changed school and found friends, I was so unused to it and ashamed of my past that I spent my time lying to them so they'll like me and think I'm cool, I also started to smoke and drink in secret because I felt so much pain and the intrusive thoughts started to get loud.

At 13 my bio dad came back in my life because he owed a lot of money to my mom and wanted to use us to make my mom feel bad about it. I started self-harming lightly and depression started to settle in but I wasn't really understanding what was going on because the "hypomanic" phases and intrusive thoughts were getting more present causing me to lose the only friends I had and yeah I just didn't understand what the hell was going on. I tried to talk about my mental health to my parents but they told me that I was being dramatic and it's a normal thing to feel bad because I was an adolescent and questioning my identity (I came out as a lesbian back at this time) and decided to just punish me and take my phone away because I was spending too much time alone in my room and didn't do the chores.

At 14 I started to have a lot of anxiety and panic attacks while being in depressive episodes, I started an ed (feeling shameful for eating even a little amount of anything and purging, I don't want to give it any name because I have been diagnosed and yeah), I also began to self-harm more and deeper (still not bad, I don't want to lie for that type of stuff xd), I broke down one day and told everything to my parents (sh, depressive tendencies, smoke, suicidal thoughts etc) and once again they were like "yeah nah it can't be that bad, you just lie to have attention and have an excuse to stay in your room and just being stupid" but my mom saw my arms and thights and then was okay for me to go see a psychologist. So for a year I had the opportunity to talk with a professional who was really amazing, she prescribed me light sleep pills because of my insomnia while in depressive episodes and "hypomanic" (don't have a diagnosis but I have all the symptoms but then again I don't want to self diagnose because it could be wrong and be something else) ones but my mom always refused to give them to me. At the end of the year she wanted an appointment with my mom to talk about my mental health and the importance for me to go see a therapist to be diagnosed (bipolar disorder 2 (she was still questioning it) , anxiety disorder and depression or whatever, she just wanted me to have the help I needed) but then again my mom said no because I was surely just faking it all and I just had to make efforts to be happy. I was so tired of everything and just wanted to feel better so I started to steal my mom depression medication (mostly Xanax and calming pills).

At 15 I met my first serious girlfriend, I fell in love so hard with her and for the first month she really helped me to stop sh, pills, drinking and everything was great until she started to verbally abuse me using my dysphoria and fragile subjects I told her about (she would say that I'm annoying and selfish for always feeling bad and that u was too sensitive and not a real boy if I cried) once I wasn't agreeing with her, slap and hit me if I said something she wasn't okay with or when I would have anxiety attacks or talk to her about my suicidal thoughts while in depressive episodes and yeah she used me like if I was a dog, if she wanted something or think in some way I would have to give her or do whatever she wanted or I would get threatened, insulted or ignored for a long time or other icky stuff. After 6 months of making me feel guilty for not letting her touch me in a sexual way she one day decided to start taking advantage of me while I wasn't in the appropriate head space or without my consent and then making fun of my body and making comments about the way I look. She in fact, made me really anxious and feel bad and it made me start to binge eat, at the end of the year my weight was 78 kg, before our relationship I was 59 kg, people noticed it but just told me to stop eating and go on a diet.

At 17 (this year) I finally broke up even if she asked me to do it because she didn't want to be seen as the mean one for letting me while I was clearly depressed. It was hard but I could finally meet new people or get back with people she didn't wanted me to talk to (especially my amazing actual partner and my bestfriend) who helped me a lot realizing all the shit she did to me and they have been amazing at making me feel loved and cared for and to be honest I don't think I would be there if they weren't in my life right now.

Now my mental health is just fucked. Like I said when I broke up with my abusive ex I had gained almost 20 kg and it reminded me all the bully I've been through as a kid (they most of the time used the fact I was overweight to bully me) so I started to starve myself or purge if I felt like I ate too much (I started to count calories) I was at 78 kg at the start and in 2 weeks I was at 65kg, it was during quarantine so i didn't have any friend or people noticing what I was doing or see me fainting. I started to drink almost everyday and smoke a lot.

In June I got in a relationship with my actual partner and to be honest it's the only good point I can find this year. They (genderfluid) are an angel and I just don't know what I would do without them, they help me a lot even if they are struggling with mental illness themself and anyone has ever cared for me and made me feel so loved before. Today it's been 4 months officially and it makes me feel happy and I just want it to never stop. My mental health is at its worst, I've been having a lot of intrusive thoughts, i have a self destructive comportement, in September I started to sh again (a lot deeper) after 2 years clean, I often call them in the middle of the night (well in the middle of the day for them cause I'm in Belgium and they are in Texas) because of really bad dreams and suicidal thoughts, I am bullied and made fun of by the people in my class for being trans and having a different style (alt-grunge), I barely eat or purge if I try to have a meal, I have these "hypomanic" phases that make me getting really angry at nothing and do a lot of stupid shit because I feel invincible and better than anyone, almost godly and yet they never made me feel like I was a burden or like I should just stfu or like I was being dramatic and they are actually the first person believing me and not saying I fake everything.

I am struggling and it becomes so damn hard to live but I will do my best not to give up and just keep on fighting for them and maybe try to recover and seek for help when I turn 18. I already try to make little steps and stop self harming, drinking too much energy drink XDD so yeah let's just try and be positive I guess.

Real talk. Name one character Guilty Gear...just one that you're okay with not being in the franchise anymore. A character that hardly plays a vital or impactful role to the story/lore. XD

DUN, DUN, DUUNNN! XD Out of all the Guilty Gear characters, I would have to say Bridget. I think about how his backstory is venturing to disprove the superstitions his village has about twins and wanting to be more manly, so he becomes a bounty hunter. Although I liked the comical interactions it lead to with some of the characters, I notice Bridget’s role isn’t really impactful towards them nor the story/lore. Like what does him being friends with the Jellyfish Pirates provide for them and himself? What side he brings out of the characters you would hardly or never see? etc. His story being simple isn’t an problem because there’s other characters who have simple stories, yet play a vital role or have an impact on the story in a meaningful way. Even the supporting characters have a bigger role than Bridget does.

For example, April(May’s best friend) has provided emotional support for May numerous times(even helps her blast people from the huge cannon, lol), has been the one with providing transportation of the Mayship, comforted Dizzy and gave her hope of her parents are out there, etc. She adds and advances some of the story along with how she helps some of the characters, even though she’s an NPC.

Another example is Slayer’s wife Sharon. She brings out how Slayer is a loving and affectionate husband. There’s comical aspect of him being nervous whenever she gets really jealous, which is a different side to Slayer because he hardly gets phased by anything. He literally needs her to survive because she can magically respawn after her blood is drained, XD. She even help expands the lore of Guilty Gear because she’s “unique” with how Eddie literally melted like cheese when he tried to possess her and how I-No mentions nothing can get to her. So it creates the wonder of what she is or how she get like that, what others are like her, etc. I can go on with other supporting characters, but you see how without them it would affect greatly the story or/and the playable cast in some way?

I’ve seen how people think that it would make sense to be tied to Jam since they’re both people with simple stories and go like “Jam is just a cook and her inhuman Ki isn’t that great!” That’s like saying, “Faust is just a goofy doctor and his god-like abilities isn’t that great!” XD But seriously, Ki itself is one of the important aspects of Guilty Gear lore and still currently a mystery. Many of the other characters have Ki, but Jam’s Ki in particular is on such a inhumane level that it would be the key to understanding some of the mysteries behind it. It’s very notable enough that the P.W.A.B. was targeted her, people like Raven comment how it’s “truly staggering”, etc. She does impact the story with some of the characters she encounters since her debut(not just Revelator) with her perspective and optimism nature.

In Accent Core, Bridget decides to become an entertainer instead of bounty hunter. The writing in Accent Core itself definitely has notable issues of forcing encounters that made no sense, some characters acting OOC, and etc. that I can make a GamingSins type post about it, XD. But I could tell the writers were struggling a bit on how to make Bridget work storywise with some of the cast. It ends up being the same of not really providing anything to them nor the story. The writers put him in Jam’s path because it’s really he couldn’t reasonably work with anyone else rather than genuinely providing something that would benefit her. Bridget chose to venture to be independent, but he technically doesn’t need money to survive due to coming from a wealthy family. Then there’s the factor of how the writers had to force a situation where Jam needed Bridget and how her character got derailed in general, which that is another huge topic itself. Bridget accepted the job being a waiter because the payment was slightly higher than what he was getting under Zepp at the time and on the condition he gets to perform. All it takes is for someone else, even an NPC, to offer him higher payment and the setup for him to start his entertainment troupe. XD So they don’t need each other or really provide anything with character building wise. Every other character I would be like “How can you exclude him/her?” But with Bridget, I would be like, “No worries”. XDD

6. Favorite character you ever created.

Ok I’m making myself narrow it down to at least 3, I think it’s gotta be Chris, Ezra, and Ash

Chris: is part of this story idea I had that involved immortal people. She was an assassin sleeper agent who didn’t know it and she ends up living with/ befriending a bunch of immortals and then there’s the drama of her later having to kill them. In the begining she’s really emotionless and blank since she has no memories, but by the end she’s ridiculously in love and has a family so alskdjf;asl

Ezra: this bb boy is from Reclaim actually, so my alien/ angel/ immortal phase that I ^^^^evidently never REALLY grew out of XD. He’s a prince with a massively fucked up backstory and mommy issues, but his mom’s murder gets pinned on him so he has to “Reclaim” the throne (aha). He’s very high strung, wickedly smart, and basically raised his two younger siblings. He’s also kind of a massive asshole XD.

Ash: she’s from Just South of Casual!! The main character actually. She’s very problematic and at the beginning of the story recovering from a suicide attempt. She’s very non-challant and callous about everything (literally she starts the book by calling people babies for being upset that the worlds ending) but by the end she’s got bffs and a boyfriend and is just overall in a much better place.

“Well, it’s the end of the world, time to cash in on miracles,” I said, he rolled his eyes, any spark of the anxiousness I’d seen moments earlier gone.

“You believe in miracles?” he asked pointedly. I noticed his eyes dip to my wrists, he probably didn’t even mean to do it and I pretended I hadn’t seen it.

“You met me,” I said with a grin I didn’t feel.

Cal glared at me. “I’m being serious, how do we plan on finding someone in a huge city?” he said, I shrugged.

“Why don’t you just text her?” I asked, he made his face at me.

“She doesn’t have a phone.”

“How about her dad?”

“No.”

“We could pretend to be–”

“No.”

“Acquaintances?”

“No.”

“Stalkers?”

“No.”

“Stop saying no.”

“No.”

I growled at him and he glared back.

(I love Cal, so much.)

50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.

Ok this was actually the hardest one to come up with adkjf;ldf I managed to narrow it down to 2 because kajds;fljasdjl I WRITE WIERD OK?? XDD

Murderous: this one was mostly weird because of the style I was trying to write in, but it was about this guy and girl who try to hook up at a wedding, get the wrong room, accidentally kill the actual owner, and cover it up. 5 years later the guy calls the girl and says he wants to come clean, she races over to try and convince him NOT to, and finds out he’s dying from cancer. They end up becoming friends again, but then the guy finds out who she is, realizes “oh no” and dies without coming clean. The girl then confesses to the murder after, and the story is told from the POV of her best friend who’s getting told this for the first time while girl is in prison and is REMARKABLY bitchy that she was never filled in.

The Likelihood of Living: this one’s weird because of the mc, Dye. The book was a zombie apocalypse story--Dye wakes up immune and invisible to zombies and also with a really weird addiction to pineapple. He’s also like, really not sane at all and very good at pissing people off but he’s on good terms with the local war-lord Devito (Dye’s the one telling the story so YES like Danny Devito )))):<) because he hoarded a bunch of pineapple scented hair gel and Devito’s obsessed with it. Eventually tho, Dye pisses him off enough that D decides he wants Dye dead so he sends his top 2 enforcers after him. They drag him back but end up actually coming to like him and yeah, they escape.

🌴: a favorite canon character in my fandom + 🌷: a song I identify with my character (also asked by @prayerwitch )

This is kinda long now, so I’ll have fave chars above and representative songs below the readmore. I recommend you click the readmore regardless XD Biased, but I have songs that miiight apply to Edelgard, Dimitri, and couples in there too.

a favorite canon character in my fandom

Within the entire Fire Emblem series, I have a huge, rose-tinted boner for most of the Archaneans, particularly Camus/Nyna (I’m well aware this is a decanonized ship, sigh), Midia/Astram, Horace, Navarre/Ogma, Roger for recruitment mechanism, Marth, Caeda, Merric, Cain, old-man Lorenz, the Whitewings (particularly Catria and/or Palla), Belf, Leiden... This is in no particular order, though Camus and Nyna are nearly untouchable as far as my favorites thanks to super-thick rose-tinted lenses. To some extent, these are also the characters I used most in my playthrough, which was also my very first experience of any Fire Emblem game in general. Alas, I was always terrible at using armor knights like Draug, even though the info I read later and his performance in FEH say he’s an amazing unit who can actually be VERY good outside his default armor-knight role.

Excluding Archanea, I tend to very quickly jump for:

Lance boys, e.g. Ephraim, Seth, Dimitri, Percival (strictly on sight in FEH--I haven’t played his game). Bonus points if they’re kickass warriors and/or noble (social rank or ideals) or mounted (I looove range).

Camus archetypes: Almost obligatory. Examples include Camus+, Mustafa, and Reinhardt.

Hotheads, e.g. Kieran of the Radiant games and Caspar himself.

Certain playboy characters, especially with more depth to them, e.g. Sylvain, purple-boy Lorenz after supports, and Ringabel (latter from the Bravely series).

Old but tough guys are fun too, e.g. Mycen, Duessel, and old-man Lorenz.

Within Fodlan, my favorite characters are:

The entire Faerghus Four: They and particularly Dimitri are why I went BL first. Dima hits the aesthetic and classic noble lord checkbox and HEAVILY reminded me of Marth esp after one CG; Felix is “cold” yet hyper-focused and caring = aaa <3 ; I knew Sylvain had more to him than being a playboy and was not disappointed; and Ingrid was initially an aesthetic pick (was sad when she lost the braid) and if paired with Dimitri struck me as the perfect pretty/blonde homecoming king/queen couple at a glance--this may stem directly from Camus and Nyna also being blonde),

Caspar: adorable doofus, though my love of him definitely grew as a result of hanging around here so long

Petra: such incredible drive; wish I could match it

Marianne: her war aesthetic appealed to me esp because it was such a confidence change from academy phase

Constance: huge visible personality change -> I really want to dig into it more

Lorenz, Claude, and Leonie grew on me as a result of later readings and TOA. (Edelgard too, though something about her still rubs me the wrong way and Idk exactly what it is...)

a song I identify with my character

Uh... tbh, I so rarely listen to music in general, let alone while writing, that I couldn’t give you a song that I STRONGLY identify with Caspar. When I designed video games, I kept a list of songs that hit a certain Mood, so maybe I can think of some of those...? The following list will come from skimming through my offline music archive.

It might be cheating because I just happened upon this, but Denny Schneidemesser’s Dreams of Flight symphony, e.g. Mvt2: Dreams of Flight (starts around 2:50 there or separate video here), could fit Caspar. It sounds bright and adventurous, well-representative of Caspar’s unerring tendency to keep moving forward now matter what cards he’s been dealt.

Denny’s Tiny Nomad has a similar bright/adventurous energy, but sounds more... little-man, somehow? (Seems it went to a cartoon featuring a mouse, sooo XD) Fits, honestly, lololol.

Denny’s Limitless from 7:15 in this demo reel could work for a post-/late-war Caspar who’s realized his full potential and is fully secure in himself and his role in and out of war. Possibly also one where he, not Julian, takes over the role of Minister of Military Affairs.

Phoenix Wright: Objection! (Dual Destinies): Sounds bold and bright enough to possibly work for Caspar. This IS Nick’s theme, but Caspar himself is more in-line with Apollo Justice. Chords of Steel--need I say more? XD

Journey’s Dont Stop Believin’: Lyrics indicate a clear striving. The only lyric song already on my phone that could remotely suit Caspar.

The below don’t apply to Caspar SPECIFICALLY, but they evoke specific moods I’d love to use someday.

Beethoven’s Symphony 6 Pastorale (song has movement timestamps in the description): Would love to use this for an “exploring the countryside” thread/oneshot someday. It’s got it all: Rolling hills with galloping horses (1) and babbling brooks and birdsong (2), staying with the locals in said rolling hills (3), a dreadful thunderstorm (4--and y’all know how well THAT’ll go over with Caspar XDD), and post-storm celebration (5)... The plot kinda writes itself!

Similarly, Denny’s Morning Adventure writes itself in the song. Even includes a “wake up” sequence. tbh, I think it was partly influenced BY Beethoven; I can hear a sort of “wilderness flute” inside it within the first minute that also appears in Symphony 6.

Incidentally, I’d highly recommend everyone look at Denny’s work. I discovered him on DeviantArt (over 4 years ago, well before it all went bad, lol), and his stuff all hits specific moods; it’s great! I have the demo reel above; there’s a Veni, Vidi, Vici that I could easily imagine on Edelgard, for instance; Love in a Nutshell is great for young/springtime love; and The Flow of Water is so peaceful.

Thomas Bergersen’s Empire of Angels: tbh, I clicked on this one purely by name, but I’m a sucker for angel-evocative things. This and one other song on my list remind me of specific things I want for my old angel OC. (Perhaps this song could apply to Dimitri?)

1. What inspired you to make/pick up this character?

(( I was so into Kingdom Hearts 2 back then that I made an Organization XIII nobody OC self-insert with the power of metal manipulation. Why metal? Because it seemed like one of the better concepts at the time since each member had a unique element they wield, e.g. Axel had fire, Zexion was illusion, which would be the basis for my OC’s singular element abilities. )) 2. What is your favorite ship (be it romantic or otherwise) with your character? (( Definitely him and his wife, Daixen. They’re kind of a power couple, being both Source Users. His wife has the element of light, and she’s actually stronger than him. ))

3. Are you anything like your muse?

(( I’m not sure, apart from the similarities in appearance and same level of seriousness, probably not. He’s more active, fitter, and definitely more attractive than I am. XD ))

4. What’s your favorite thing about your muse?

(( I think the way his eyes glow silver whenever he draws intensely upon his powers. ))

5. What’s one thing you wish you could change about them?

“What is not to like? Sure, he is amiable enough as well.”

“The fact that he has had me since he was sixteen. He never considered discarding me like a phase.”

“In my opinion, he is quite easily distracted. Definitely, a terrible trait to have as a warrior.”

“I have been told that Flip’s Ward is actually his other muse. Which is perfect – I knew myself and the kid share some sort of bond. I am glad to realize this is not a mere hunch.”

“Quite, but I should suggest for him to run away when trouble comes. He does not belong on a battlefield.”

16. What’s one thing mun does that you’re grateful for?

“While he is not perfect, I appreciate that the only thing about me that he lacks is an actual short story about my, should I say biography? Yes, that might be the right word. Why he has even chosen me a theme song. I am definitely amused and pleased with this, even if I do not show it often.”

17. What is one thing you wish mun would let you do?

“I trust him well enough to write me as I am supposed to be his ideal, heroic half. Yet I know he has already distinguished myself quite enough from his own.”

“Considering he has had no formal training, then he is alright to me. Many people seem to think he writes well, so I shall take their word for it, too.”

“You definitely need to have more discipline in your system.”

“I would never dream of it, and I know he feels the same way. I would not want him to experience the life I have. Few and far between are those who work to keep the peace.”

“T-Tell me again why we agreed to move into an old mansion?” Chase mumbled as he looked around, wincing slightly as the old wooden floors below him creaked with every step.

Marvin shrugged. “Well…I will admit that while this place is a bit….unsettling, this is far better than that cramped cabin in the woods.” With the tap of his wand, the broken mirror in front of him repaired itself in the blink of an eye. “With a few touch-ups this place will feel like home in no time.”

“Yeah i can get behind Marv on that one,” Anti nodded in agreement, although he smirked and glitched over to the timid father, who squeaked in surprise upon seeing him. “Aww, are we really that scared now, Brody~?”

“N-N-No..I’m-”

“Ya think you’re gonna see some lame, spooky ghost, don’tcha?”

Chase didn’t answer, although the bead of sweat that began to trickle down the side of his face told the demon everything.

He cackled. But before he could say anything else, he suddenly felt a painful smack on the back of his head, as if somebody had slapped him.

With a growl he spun around, knife glitching into hand. “WHO THE FUCK-?!”

“I don’t appreciate being called “spooky”, mister”.”

Anti gawked, dropping his weapon and stumbling backwards. His wide eyes looked to see that there was none other than a ghost floating before him…that ghost being you.

A glitched scream and a normal humane one altered the other egos to their location. But once they arrived they gasped at the sight of you, although much to their surprise…you were trying to console Chase and Anti as they backed into the corner, holding each other.

“J-Just stay away!” The demon threw his knife at you…only for it to phase through your body.

You blinked slowly at what he just did, before sighing. “…….buddy, you can’t kill what’s already dead. Now just…calm down. I’m not gonna hurt either of you.”

Chase sniffled lightly. “Y-You..won’t..?”

“No..unless you plan to destroy this house-” However, you stopped and looked to see a few other men standing there.

Looking back at the pair, and then to the group once more, it finally occurred to you that they all had nearly identical faces. Not only that, but they could also see you, whereas normal humans couldn’t.

“Ah, hello.” You smiled gently. “I’m the resident, or, rather, the former resident of this mansion, [y/n].”

“Nice to..ah meet you, [y/n],” the man with the cat mask greeted. “I’m Marvin..and those two on the floor are Chase and Anti.”

You looked back, seeing that they were getting up. “I assume the one who was rude to me and tried to throw a knife at me is Anti?”

“Yea,” he grunted. “S-Sorry..”

“It’s fine, I know how often we are portrayed as these horrible, malicious spirits. But I promise I’m not like anything you see in the movies,” you reassured.

After hearing that, the egos relaxed, although they seemed a bit timid still. But one of them, a purple-haired zombie, walked up to you, his purely white eyes expressing surprise. “Is…[y/n]..like Robbie?”

So his name was Robbie. You chuckled softly, shaking your head. “No..I’m not a zombie, although I am undead like you are, my friend.”

Robbie smiled, opening his arms to you. “Does friend…want hug?”

You were initially surprised at first by his offer, but you then smiled and giggled. “Of course. I’ll gladly take one from you, darling.” Hovering closer to the ground, you let Robbie walk over and hug you the best he could, and you returned it, smiling gently.

The others “awe-d” at the scene, but deep down they all realized…

Maybe staying at this mansion wasn’t a bad idea after all.

JIKOOK RANT part 2:

Another suspicious tweet.It’s a post, before the previous ones I mentioned. On 04.05.2016 Jimin posted a pic of the group and counted the days until their concert.The caption said, “I wanna see you soon~”.So it must have been for ARMYs.But on the same day, JK posted a video of himself in the car, making a heart sign with his fingers.So yeah.It could have been for the fandom of course.This is not a really big deal.However, I consider it so, because of what happened on the same day after their posts.

MY OPINION(also based on other jikookers)

Timeline and development of their relationship.Or what I think.

We’ve seen the dynamic between Jikook ever since their debut.The chaser and runner phase.Jimin was seeking his dongsaeng’s attention for a long time and joked a lot about liking him, and them being a couple or trying to steal a kiss, again just as a joke.But suddenly in 2015, this stopped.We saw how the tables have turned in their relationship.Now Jungkook was more touchy and Jimin was more passive with his actions towards the maknae.

Many jikookers speculate that they started being official(or confesses, or started dating—whatever) in the RUN era.I also think so.

To me, the way they started to act around each other was more intense,the tension was bigger around them, like they shared a secret.Of course, we will never know when they happened(if they did for real in the first place, in which I believe with every cell of my body).

In 2016 they started being more obvious.For me, that was the year with lots of things that have happened between them(all of the moments I mentioned in the previous rant were from 2016).

Also, 2017 has been the GAY year not just for Jikook, but BTS.They’ve always supported the lgbt community which makes me respect them a lot.(and many other things about them, but I will talk about this in another post). 2017, especially the end of it was the crucial point.

How MORE OBVIOUS do they have to get to make people start noticing their love for each other(and I am not talking about brother-like love).

I think it makes Jikook really special that they changed, they kind of went through a metamorphosis.That’s why it feels like their bond is so much stronger.

Simply how I see their whole timeline:

Afraid of having crushes, even super small, on each other, they thought it’s just a phase.A weird one, tho.But the more the grew to know each other, the more they matured they noticed that there is something special they feel about each other.JM doesn’t see JK as the cute, younger ‘brother’ anymore.His affection is not excused with the resemblance Jungkook and his real brother had for him.He is not just protective and supportive hyung.He realized he wants to be much more to Jungkook.Joking about having feelings for him was a mistake because it made him think that Jungkook doesn’t like this(gay couples or Jimin as more than a friend). At the same time, Jungkook is confused with his own mind.He had dated before.Girls!He never felt what real love is like, tho(he said this in their debut years in the AHL interviews).So this boy, still not grown up, was afraid if he ruins his relationship with Jimin.-a hyung he appreciates way too much but never shows.So, to hide his feelings, he puts on a mask and pushes Jimin away all the time.But his crush starts to overtake.It’s not a phase anymore.And with Jimin slowly trying to ignore him, Jungkook knows he can’t stay away from his hyung. (this is totally my perspective, and we will never know their real feelings, I just guess, based on how I would have acted if I was in such situation.Because, I admit, I have lots of similarities with JK in character.Even tho I didn’t like him before, it’s surprising now that I find out.I AM NOT SAYING I KNOW HIS PERSONALITY OR ANYTHING!don’t get me wrong)

Sexualities and how complex this is.

If you asked me to point out who I think might be gay or lgbt in BTS, I will go like J-Hope, Suga(he mentioned that the gender doesn’t matter,so..) and maybe Jimin. If you ever asked me about Jungkook I would’ve screamed STRAIGHT from the rooftops..But now.Oh, now…I don’t only observe their actions, but also consider what they say and what sign they try to give us. I will only speak about Jungkook since I don’t want to make this EVEN longer. We know that Jungkook is Troye Sivan’s fanboy.Does this make him gay?No.I also listen to Troye, Hayle Kyoko, and some other lgbt musicians.My best guy friend likes Troye Sivan and even if he doesn’t always act in the manliest way(you know what I mean) he is hella straight.And he’s gonna be a great husband because the way he values women-this is so much MANLIER than anything else. Yep, liking Troye doesn’t make him gay. But at the same time, the Jikook timeline is just such a big coincidence.At the RUN era, when I think they got together, he covered Troye Sivan’s song “Fools”.(he and RM didn’t change the pronouns) In my opinion, this is important, because it’s the first sign he gave us.In Korea being lgbt is really hard.Most young people are fine with it, but even they will look at you like you are different(in a not good way).And what about elders.They think being gay is wrong.Something is wrong with YOU.

I think Jungkook is bisexual.He showed that he is attracted to women and it’s also obvious to me, but I think he has some male crushes.(and one male boyfriend at this time, but anyways xdd)And I think Jimin is just special.Maybe he was this one boy Jungkook really fell in love with.

Also, using his song for GCF without changing the pronouns or cutting off parts of the song and skipping to the chorus,it shows that he wasn’t bothered.In that show this year he said that he feels like he’s wearing a mask when he’s with other people.For me, this is like saying that he hid something about himself.Not just acting idolish, but also keeping the truth.And the fact that in America this year Namjoon mentioned several times, when they asked them about dating, that they don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend.Also, thatlove is not only between genders.(i stan this king and his beautiful mind; I literally fell in love with the small part of his way of thinking that he showed to us.I can’t believe how I’d feel if I knew him personally)

I think BTS gave us many hints that there are lgbt members among them.And I think Jikook is one of them.Also, I think Namjoon is lgbt, but I will not explicit the exact sexuality because I really have no idea.

What I’ve seen on Jikookers’ profiles.

I have noticed many fans of Jikook saying that they have been in kpop for a long time, but they’ve never seen a ship like this.So real.SO unexplainable.Because even if I remove all the times they look at each other, hold hands, hug, smile, laugh together, tease each other ,the jealousy moments or whatever(photoshoots together, fanservice,couple items) even after I do that (like stop including the moments that ships are based on usually), with Jikook there are STILL moments I can’t explain with brotherhood!I just can’t.So, not just that Jikook really is like any other ship, butmany who ship them study psychology or/and body language.

Me too.I’ve watched videos with other ships’ moments and 'proof’, but never ever found something that really couldn’t be explained.So I believe that Jikook really is different.I don’t hate any ship!They are all beautiful and have amazing moments, no matter what kind of relationship those two people have.(Like.. have you seen Taemin and Jimin.Or Taemin and Kai.They have such cute friendship.) I also love Jessica and Krystal, because I also have a sister and it’s really amazing how close they are.Ships could be for all types of relationship.Shipping doesn’t mean you see two persons being romantically involved.That’s why I don’t ship Jikook. I support them.

And you know what.I always will.And all BTS members.Even if Jungkook and Jimin are not dating.Even if they date someone else(boy or girl/bandmate,co-idol,friend,someone unfamous,a fan even).I will always respect them.I don’t force them to be together and neither I can.I just want to show that no matter what they choose, I will support them.I only believe (my opinion!) that there is something beautiful between them and I believe is that type of love.That’s it.

And finally!How I think their (romantic) relationship is.

I feel like at first, it was scary and unsure, but as time passed by, they got closer.They know that they can always rely on each other.It feels like this couple is very supportive and cute.For me, they might have fights from time to time, be a little possessive, but they would never leave each other.It seems that they have been through a lot about how people saw them(members are 100% supporting them; BH also seems fine about it–but what about their families? I hope the same goes for them),or how they have to hide all the time,how jealousy got them on their nerves or just simple argues.Anyway, I think they will survive all the obstacles and still stand side by side.

No matter what you think, you ship someone else, support them and believe in them as much as I do even more, only spread the love.This is our biggest weapon against all the bad things that happen in our life.Love, after all, is the key to happiness.

Sorry for another long rant, but I just needed to clear myself out and to sort out “the proof” going in my head.I hope you liked it and I hope it helped you get another perspective on this topic.I tried to give the most objective assessment.I am and will always be as realistic as hell.That’s why I judge from both sides.That’s why I never consider as evidence moments where they -look at each other -smile at each other -hug, hold hands, etc. (even tho it’s still cute, this is not what made me believe in them.I was very skeptical at the beginning too and I did my research very well :) )

Since my account is new, I don’t plan to post actively what happens between Jikook.Most would be rants and analysis.Also, if you want to (if you are ready) follow me xd because I have only one friend that ships Jikook, but she is not into kpop so much lately,so..you get me.

Supernatural s1

my dash: decries Supernatural every five posts.

me: time to watch it seriously for the first time in my life.

-First thing first: it’s an amazingly well-crafted season of tv. I’m a character-focused watcher, not a plot-focused one; I never connected emotionally to the Winchesters (still haven’t and likely never will, as interesting I might find them as character constructs), so I feared I’d be bored and would want to skip scenes. Nuh huh. I was many things, but none of them were bored xDD. Each episode was a lesson in good pacing and the entire season another in proper build-up. There are one or two or a few dozen tv-writers I would like to show it to, ngl.

-Another thing it excelled at was in its portrayal in abusive family dynamics. The way Dean went mellow and so unlike himself when John gave an order (and what a SHOCK it is in the later episodes when he finally stands up to him!!). How Sam said HE would apologize to his father when they saw each other again, or how he made apologies for his father because “it could have been worse” (at least John didn’t beat them up, like it happened to that poor kid!). John showing Sam more “““respect””” (as far as he’s able at least) simply because Sam already proved he’s capable of leaving him; the way John controls the information he gives them and when and how and how much and how small they feel when they reunite with him. Dean knowing his father had been possessed by a demon because it wasn’t reprimanding him and belittling him. Dean’s psychic shapeshifter (?) expressing his resentment towards Sam for getting to escape. Dean’s quickness to resort to violence when Sam says something that makes him angry, or how he tries to severe ties between Sam and his college friends, or how he guilt trips him when Sam says he plans on returning to his studies, or how he minimizes Sam’s experiences with John or how Sam criticizes Dean’s compliance... (I don’t think Dean’s being consciously manipulative. I think it’s intuitive. Which is far, far scarier. He’s the Elena Gilbert of Supernatural and a walking red flag for controlling behavior). How it’s paired with ~honeymoon periods. The way they use the families around them to highlight their issues. It’s... chilling and terrifying and I can’t look away. I won’t get into the shit John pulls in 2x01 because that’s for the s2 POV, but oh my god I’m so happy he’s dead.

I wasn’t all that sure of how self-aware the creators were about this trend (especially because of how centralized and validated Dean’s POV is in his conflicts with Sam IMO. OTOH... characters like Dean and actors like Ackles are the type to take over a show by charisma alone tbf. The way he swoops in in the pilot and starts disrupting everything, including Sam’s relationship, reminding me of both Angel in BTVS and Chuck in Gossip Girl, Doylist-wise. This comparison is going to make sense to like three people I talk with regularly xDD). At least on early seasons, since certain spoilers about the later ones make me think it grew over time. I’m still unsure but I think they are a little self-aware because of this quote:

Eric Kripke said of Buffy: “I loved ‘Hush’ and ‘Once More, With Feeling,’ but overall, Buffy really taught me about effectively using metaphor in genre. For Buffy, it was ‘high school is hell (literally),’ and Joss Whedon did such a masterful job of grounding his horror and fantasy concepts in this notion, and ultimately telling allegories about high school, which turned what could’ve been B-Movie material into an all-time classic. I used that same philosophy on my run of Supernatural, with the mantra ‘family is hell (literally),’ and always grounded my horror episodes around the notion of families, to the show’s benefit. So thanks, Joss Whedon. I owe you a beer. (Credit: The WB)

everyone wants to be Buffy lol.

-My absolute favourite thing was how competent the Winchesters are (I’m even reluctantly including John here. That bastard). They’re sneaky with local authorities, crafty about fake IDs, credit scams, research abilities, DIY supernatural detectors xDD... I loved the lack of an audience proxy, the fact that the story throws you into the deep end with people that already know their shit. And that the other side is competent too, like when Meg & YED’s plan to trap John relied on the Winchester being competent; on Sam immediately going into the defensive because, what are the chances of finding that cute weird girl a second time, miles away?; on John suspecting it was a trap and only revealing himself after Meg appears to be dead... Another scene that I loved in that sense, from 2x01 (I watched until 2x03, I wanted to see Sterling K. Brown’s first appearance lol) was how upon discovering Reapers are shapeshifters, Dean immediately knew that cute ghost he’d befriended was the one after him. I get the feeling this aspect will get lost in future season and it’s a pity, tbh.

-Related to that, some of my favourite moments: Sam straight up bribing a guy to get into the morgue when Dean’s arguments are failing (with Dean’s money!); Dean’s plan of “well, if this guy is haunting the house and there’s no other way to kill him, we burn the house. No house no haunting”; Dean telling that kid to fake appendicitis to get his parents out of the house; John blessing the tank of water knowing he’s walking into a trap with demons... I dig this stuff.

-I get whiplash sometimes, with the show making a point of (very briefly) telling you racism, homophobia or pro-life attitudes are Bad(TM) and the brothers are Against them (the Racist Truck episode, the one where a woman used a Reaper to exchange “virtuous” lives for those of sinners...), when the rest of the show is err... what it is lol. Dean is toxic masculinity’s poster boy (I was so disgusted by how he acted with Jess omfg), in s2 we don’t get the monsters’ perspective on hunters until we’ve conveniently met our first black one (I love the episode AND the character but it’s fucking true)...

-I need to make a note of paying attention to the writers credits/Bts stuff because I find this show’s progression fascinating on a metatextual level. The only problem is that audience reaction seems to have played a big role (which is a problem on one or two different levels imo xD), and tracking that down is sliiiiightly more difficult lol. Oh well (I don’t even think I want to see too much of this fandom, even to satisfy my curiosity. Some of the glimpses I’ve caught of it are disturbing to the extreme).

-The detail about dead people’s blood being toxic to vampires is SO COOL OMG. I’m tempted to steal it xD

Some random stuff:

-The monsters of the week were some legit creepy stuff.

-I love that Meg has her own hellhounds. Is that still a thing when she returns?

-Dean: you and dad are reckless and I’m going to have to be the one that buries you. / Me, with the power of foresight: 👀

-Also Dean: sometimes it scares me how good I am at killing. / Me: it scares the shit out of me how good you are at killing, too, fam.

-I get the impression Sam loses his demonic-in-origin powers later on, right? What a waste, I love those.

-I’m pretty sure at one point it’s implied John used Dean to honeytrap monsters (when he sends him as a trap for the lady vampire that stole the Colt) and I really don’t know what to do with this information.

-Cassie was GORGEOUS and even make Dean likeable for me while they lasted xDD. But given this show’s track record I’m considering the lack of more appearances a blessing.

-So many guest stars. Everyone’s been on SPN. Especially if they were on the Buffyverse first (I totally get the impulse of casting Buffy actor after Buffy actor lmfao).

-Funny how Luther Hargreeves is exactly who a lot of fans think Dean was (Dean is far, far colder imo), and yet one is constantly called pathetic and evil and the other woobified. Very Funny Indeed *coughs* (funnier still that the character I often see Dean compared to is Wynonna Earp when the parallels are kids-pool deep at best and offensive at worst. Dean is not a Wynonna. Again, Dean is an Elena Gilbert xDD).

-The two paranormal investigators were dumb as rocks, but their motto was “What Would Buffy Do” so I like them (if they ever change that to What Would the Winchesters Do or something like that I’m going to be furious lmao).

-When I want to ~chill I dress about exactly like Dean (minus the flannel I’ve seen in later seasons, you can’t pay me to wear flannel). Like, I think I have a couple of shirts that look exactly like ones of his. I don’t know how I feel about this xDD

It’s done! I’ve read every single issue with Harley and Joker in it. Now, an article: Comics: Harley, Joker and abuse 2.0 *improved*

Friend: Why are people always talking about Snyder’s Joker or Morrison’s, etc?

Me: DC made it sure that the sacred continuity of the mainstream was kept, each writer had to work based on what his predecessors wrote but writers had different interpretations of the character so the characterization was different.

So sometimes we have an absolutely violent Joker, sometimes He’s a smart guy who tries to seem dumb or a man so crazy that couldn’t avoid the police.

Why Am I explaining this? because you have to understand that Joker at the time Harley was introduced in comic world was extremely violent and sadist. He spent the half of his time killing his own men. He wasn’t the character we knew in the tv show. Comic world is more raw, crude and bloody. Of course Harley changes her personality many times it depends on who wrote it.

Harley was written like Joker’s girlfriend in the series, now if you’re not familiar with batman comics that’s the most logic development but otherwise you understand that was a bold move cause Joker existed during 50 years before someone gave him a girlfriend but even more, he didn’t have a brother, a father, sons or a sidekick, nothing at all* and today someway we have big pictures of him kissing a girl and people pay for them LOL.

Harley was a new phase for Joker as a character cause she gives to him humanity what is good or bad, good if you want a more complete character, bad if you’re trying to use the cruelest, the grosser and the most important batman’s enemy to be creepy.

Batman - Harley Quinn (august, 1999. by Paul Dini): The canon origin for Harley in the mainstream (Mad love is from tv/ Batman the animated series continuity). They didn’t use the thing of abuse, no, they had an idea to keep it weird and dysfunctional: He tries to kill her and they had a twisted reason, It’s cause he loves her alike but different entirely to abuse. This was the strategy of the comics and was reflected everywhere

Comic Harley Quinn (2000-2004), comic Batman adventures (Tv continuity), comic batman, etc at least until 2007 BUT we have a couple of exceptions.

This picture by Guillen March (many batman comics) is a good brief of that tendency:

Mainstream:

-The code: Batman #570 (oct, 1999. part 1), Detective comics #737 (oct, 1999. part 2). This is what I was talking about batman and detective comics are combined though the numbers aren’t corresponding. It’s because the magazine detective comics began first. The story called “the code” was one of the most tender, funny stories. No trace of abuse.

Joker: It’s ok to call me Puddin’.

Some pages here

-Legends of the dark knight #126, detective comics #740 (both feb. 2000) by Gregg Rucka: you have to read them combined. I think this was the most abusive you can find in comics and the next one of course. There isn’t anything implied you can see it and its very bad. Please notice the date, it was written almost at the same time that the fluffy “the code”

-Batman #573, shadow of the bat #93 (both jan, 2000) by Gregg Rucka: The majority of the images really showing abuse are from this one and the former.

Why the difference? The writers, whenever Gregg Rucka is the author Joker is abusive cause Rucka uses Harley like a sidekick no really his girlfriend and this writer’s Joker is every second shooting someone. BTW Rucka has said he didn’t like Joker and he wanted to kill him but DC didn’t let him.

Wait…what about “suicide squad”? Just now we aren’t talking about N52 universe (since 2011). Maybe you don’t know what’s that so we’ll cover it later.

-Harley Quinn (2000-2004 and Linked to Mainstream): They used the matter or Joker trying to kill her, no real abuse here and she tries to kill him too as revenge. This comic is important because after many of its ideas were applied in other comics (specially N52). In fact they created a development of character where she reached a kind of equality with Joker, maybe the first time they used a development of the subject in the world of comics but there wasn’t abuse.

well…in the episode 1 he hit her and kicked her but a)- This Harley is so strong could carry him in arms :S and she did so :D b)- She threw him into a big neon sign for doing so.

After a second writer in HQ made up one of my favorite JokerHarley stories, and very funny. pages here.

-Batman adventures/Gotham adventures (1992-2004): The comic is directly linked to the cartoon, there’s not abuse at all they usually show their relationship as something funny and cute but they made some references after 1999 that I want to explain.

Gotham adventures #10 (march, 1999) and #14: One of my favorites stories because it was hilarious but shows a twisted but sweet relationship. They fight each other but writers tried to make it in both ways =_= yes, that was their solution

Curiously she didn’t mention that time he threw her through a window so no reference to mad love but the strange answer of Joker is a reference to the origin in the mainstream because if he wanted to kill her that was a sign he loved her O_O Whatever, at the end she forgave him, just the reader could see he missed her but he wrote this on a photo.

As result “Batman Adventures” is a continuity with the storyline of the TV show but without Mad Love.

A proof supports this opinion is “Harley Quinn and Batman #1″ (July, 2017) by Templeton, main writer in Adventures, the comic is new but with this panel here the writer was reminding us the state of the things in Adventures.

-The Joker - last laugh (oct, 2001): special, limited series. Joker thought he was going to die. Very cute story in that regard. here The last laugh

-Gotham Girls (dec. 2002): Special limited series 5 issues, really good but coming to business, at first glance it seems (because of the design and story) it happened in the continuity of Batman Adventures but there’s a trick. Gotham Girls wasn’t created as another chapter in Batman Adventures, but it is a comic sequel/adaptation of a series of animated shorts written by Paul Dini with the same name.

The series by Dini didn’t have references to Mad Love but the adaptation by Paul Storrie did have them.

The vol 3. shows harley’s story as in Mad Love, abuse included, they used some panels extracted from there.

-Harley and Ivy (2004): No real references. Limited series by Paul Dini

-Batman confidential (2007): Madmen and Lovers: Confidential has its own continuity and my favorite origin story, just fluff here.

Mainstream:

-batman 663 (mar, 2007) by Grant Morrison: his style is absolutely different and he did a strange mess but his Joker wasn’t abusive, he was totally crazy and murderous, I meant MORE, and Harley worshipped him almost literally o.O but here they said clearly “he cared about her” and at the same time harley shot him down xD.

If you want to know more about Batman #663 here. It’s a comparison with its variant in N52 but just read the 663 part to get what happened.

-Detective comics 831 “kind of like family” (Dini, jun, 2007): Good story, no real mention of abuse, no exactly…but here Harley had made her mind about don’t be involved with him again and was reformed. A new character, the second ventriloquist, appeared and she is supposed to have a bad relationship with scarface that is her other personality…It doesn’t make sense…forget it. It’s a long talk and Dini himself “erased” it with his next work.

If you don’t read comics skip this (About Dini, Morrison and logic):

In first place this episode is dated jun, 2007 and 663 (Morrison’s) was in march, it’s confusing because the last time we saw Harley (2004 ending of “Harley Quinn”) she was in arkham and paul dini began from there writing a story about her getting out of Arkham and reformed (”kind of family” in June) BUT Morrison used the character BEFORE, in March and in Morrison’s she’s far away from sanity just a couple months of difference :-/ (*cough* continuity staggering *cough*)

It’s more or less that Dini ignored Morrison xD Well, in the continuity after a while when we saw Joker again he was his normal himself like nothing occurred (his face wasn’t damaged like It was in batman # 663) so everybody ignored Morrison and then DC tried to explain it saying what was writen after #663 corresponds to BEFORE in the time xDD (If somebody thinks I’m wrong expose it to me please.) and BTW It’s impossible since a reference was made about this chapter (663) in Gotham sirens (2009), in other words Batman #663 by Morrison can’t be the future cause Gotham Sirens calles it the past.

-Detective comic 837 (Dini. oct. 2007): she’s living adventures, no comments

Then the order in the general story for Harley according to the mainstream is this:

-Gotham sirens (2009-2011) by Paul Dini (just first 11 issues minus the #8): In sirens this is a weird topic and long to explain. There’s one reference, a comment of P.I and selina, chapter 1.

selina :“he’ll be calling for your money the second he hears about it”

Ivy: “then you’ll be skipping out the door for another round of abuse, humiliation and regret”

This is a reference to the dynamic in “Harley and Ivy” the episode in the tv show where joker took adventage of her for her money, one could think when they said abuse, they were talking about brutality like mad love but it results that Dini likes to use “abuse” meaning distinct things in distinct works. o.O

In Sirens by Dini “abuse” is not what appeared in Mad Love but something slighter… more like He’s a jerk kind of thing.

Understanding this is a little difficult if you don’t follow Dini’s work but Sirens itself helps you providing some context

The ending of the chapter 6 is a second reference to “Harley and Ivy”. Both, the ending of the episode and the comic handled the matter lightly, treating it with humor,

In the original episode Harley isn’t an beaten wife but the object of her love is inconsiderate and he wanted to steal her money too. Ivy called her a doormat.

So Selina and Ivy meant he takes advantage of her, however Sirens established Joker does care about her at the same time, in the chapter 5 Ivy said this:

More context: Dini made up a background for Harley’s family was never written before. While Mad Love was tragic and the story of the downfall of a girl who would have been somebody Sirens is optimistic. Her family was so a disaster that she’s happy with her new life and identity. It isn’t dark, they’re just disagreeable people.

Harley has daddy issues, no, seriously! Her father is …Joker.

Her father is a swindler who takes advantage of women and get their money :O So Harley is used to deal with liers on a daily basis and her family’s used to have relatives in jail. here

The writer is trying to compare her father with Joker, and her old life with her new criminal identity, saying “It isn’t so bad”. From Harley’s point of view at least Joker is a man of one woman and he doesn’t have kids from several mothers like Harley’s brother. For Dini usually the little domestic sins like infidelity are the worst.

Again another writer that is very different wrote the last arc of Sirens though sometimes wrongly attribuited to Dini. His story it’s darker and ignored the previous chapters, this time Ivy changed lines and said “he doesn’t love you” (chapter 24). Harley said “after all the abuse, betrayal and dirty tricks” (chapter 19) but they keep comparing harley/joker to Selina/batman and being kind of romantic. So what was that? : / What we saw after wasn’t an abusive relationship (He even called her Ms. Q once), they were a team but they were together doing horrible things, I mean, the guy was very nice and all but he was stabbing orderlies. Here the reason Harley must not be with him is simpler, cause he does evil things :O

And then again the weirdest twist in the final 2 chapters (2011) Ivy explained how Harley is very sick and they carried her obsession to proportions weren’t seen since her origin in 1999…ok, maybe Morrison’s Harley in 2007 maybe not.

Extra but canon too :-/

-Countdown to Final crisis (Dini, 2007-2008): Ultra crossover and a temporary event that stopped the normal progress of the continuity for a long while, maybe my least favorite story by Paul Dini (he was the main writer, like a director). Here…well…Harley became an amazon (you know, like wonderwoman. XP -_- ) because…she was reformed…no abuse here or signs of it are mentioned. (If you know of something just say it).

-Crossovers/several universes: Usually just fluffy things I haven’t found some abusive story in them but yes, there’re a one or two really creepy. Interestingly I don’t know about any universe where Harley is a boy but Joker was a girl 2 or 3 times O.o and always in love with another version of Harley…I guess AUs are fanservice XP.

-Batman Strikes! (2005): Linked to the cartoon “The Batman”, fluffy and cartoonish.

Well, that was PRE-N52…

Game based comic weren’t included cause those have their own continuity that isn’t accurate in regard to the games and the relationship is different between one and another

conclusion

Because of the amount of writers the relationship is never exactly the same and in the majority of the cases isn’t abusive besides being realistic one writer could have written the characters and their relationship different in different occasions (that’s why you can find interviews where they say it’s abusive and he doesn’t care for her and then another where they say how much he loves her) and It’s not really possible put together all what was written and saying it’s the same character always (Joker changes and Harley too) sooo that’s why you don’t hate women if you ship it, thanks. :D

My God, I think I’ve read every single issue with harley and Joker but who knows there’re so many. @_.@

Perhaps I’ll write another article for N52, We’ll see.

Do you think Sansa is knowingly poisoning Sweetrobin? I've seen a few well-known blogs making the argument that she's doing it on purpose but I'm not convinced. I don't think she understands how dangerous sweetsleep is. For reference: bluetheon(.)tumblr(.)com/post/165242694491/maidenoftheforestlight-alayne-stonecoldfox and I just saw another pretty popular blog say that she is willingly poisoning him too which bugged me so I thought I'd ask what you think. It's just so unlike Sansa. :/

now, given that I haven’t read anything from TWOW except the theon chapter because I’m weak like that but like I don’t want to form ideas based on pre-released chapters that might or might not get changed when they’re published, so like I’ve just read up what’s in that meta, and like... I think she’s aware on a subconscious level but hasn’t really realized it yet, but that at the same time it ties into a larger theme as in ‘grrm is making the stark children go through a lot of very dark shit and is putting in question a lot of things we should have assumed’. I had written something about it once let me see if I can find it, but anyway, basic background of my Large Starks Theory: they started out as the heroes and they will end up as the heroes, but right now they’re all going through a morally gray/morally questionable moment/phase while the Lannisters are also being turned on their head except for cersei - I mean cersei’s always been herself except she gets more bonkers with time, but tyrion started as a sympathetic figure who had to be on the villain side and now he’s going over to another hero side, jaime started out as OMG SO TERRIBLE (to the not-in-depth-read anyway) and now he’s turning out as one of the people in the series with the most sensed views about anything + one of the few reliable narrators when it doesn’t concern his feelings about being like cersei in asos + a fairly decent guy all things considered. Like, we started with good starks and bad lannisters and now we are with grey starks and getting-better lannisters and we’ll end with good starks and two good-ish lannisters on three. Now, what I mean with the starks are going through their morally gray phase, if I can find that post I made a while ago gdi I can’t find it AH WELL:

arya is training at an assassins’ school where the basic point of it is killing people after renouncing your identity

bran is turning into the westeros big brother pretty much and while I don’t think that in the show they realized that it probably will not turn him into a robot who sends meera off without so much a thank you, I’m 99% sure they weren’t making it up with hodor and like... he’s younger than twelve. that’s a lot of power. on top of that he had done exactly all the things varamyr said in the adwd prologue that wargers should not do (ie warging into people, eating meat while in an animal and I can’t remember the third but back when I checked, he did that as well), that’s not kindergarten material

rickon is being pretty much literally raised by wolves/wildlings on an island known because there’s cannibals on it and he hasn’t seen his family since he was four, as much as osha can be a good influence the moment he goes back to civilization manderly is going to be very wtf at least

jon has died and will come back to life which is most probably going to leave him fairly more traumatized than in the show and his entire arc in adwd was about how he has to do a lot of things that he’d have previously found despicable because he’s a lord commander and he has a duty (do we remember the whole deal with gilly’s baby?)

catelyn is a zombie who only wants revenge and she’s so past morally gray, she’s turned into riverlands!aerys which is why I’m putting my money on brienne killing her to save jaime but never mind that

and lastly.. sansa is stuck with LF who’s using her in his ploys while also being a total creep with her and who wants to marry her because he was in love with her mother (yikes) and who’s made her at least complicit in the whole sweetsleep scheme, which is what would put her in the morally gray column for now

now, I do think she doesn’t realize the extent of what she’s doing and that from what it looks like in the preview chapter she seems very immersed in her alayne part - I mean, again I haven’t read that, but looking at the quotes in that meta,

She put a finger to his lips. “I know what you want, but it cannot be. I am no fit wife for you. I am bastard born.”“I don’t care. I love you best of anyone.”You are such a little fool.

Maester Colemon cares only for the boy, though. Father and I have larger concerns.

now, idk the context, but that doesn’t sound like sansa to me, that sounds like how alayne should sound, but like... that’s the point, that’s not sansa. that’s sansa at her lowest point while she’s being made complicit in the scheme, but who doesn’t fully realize the extent of it yet I think - the second person has a point when it says that LF is also building this so he can frame her but he won’t get his way, most probably because that person is not sansa and sansa wouldn’t do that, so the moment she actually realizes it and puts two and two together she’ll stop it or do something to change the tide. like, LF has to die and he most probably will because he underestimated her (also as the other meta-er said I’m 99% sure she’s gonna run into brienne and jaime so there’s that too), but sansa has to go through the ‘what the fuck are you doing this is wrong WHAT’ moment because that’s what... all of her living family is doing.

I don’t think she can’t know at all because I mean, she’s not an idiot and those conversations with the maester plus LF laying his plan down are fairly obvious - anyone would put two and two together and I think she has but she just doesn’t want to admit it, which is why I’m midway - I don’t think she willingly is doing it but I think she knows she’s doing it on some level.

mind that I think it might go like this also because grrm already did all of that with theon - in adwd if you start from reek you see him knowing things but apparently denying them in the pov/trying to not think about them/saying or thinking the things reek should say or think or do same as sansa is doing above with alayne - a lot of shit theon does/says/thinks in reek 1, 2 and 3 is not him, it’s what he thinks he has to be in order to survive ramsay and like, the concept is exactly the same, but the more adwd went on the more he was forced to realize that he was not reek, he could not be reek and he didn’t want to be reek, and like... he knew that jeyne was jeyne and not arya, he tried to ignore it as long as he could, he knew what was happening to her and tried to block it out, he couldn’t, the moment he puts two and two together and realizes where he went wrong/who he wants to be/what he wants to do with his life and his choices, the first thing he does is saving her hide. it’s the exact same pattern except that we saw sansa going from sansa to alayne and we didn’t see theon going from theon to reek (THANK FUCK), but we’re going to see sansa to alayne to sansa again I think, and that includes her admitting to herself what the hell they’re doing and realizing it’s not who she wants to be or what she wants to be. which would put her back in the good guys camp, though with a lot less naivety I suppose, which is what I think is going on with all her siblings, so... yeah that’s what I got.

tldr: I think she knows what she’s doing on a very deep/subconscious level but doesn’t want to admit it and that she will have to and that it’s part of her family’s overall arc as ‘go from good guys to morally gray and then back to good’ and in order for her to be *properly* grey at least for that chunk of her arc she has to be aware of it on some level. obviously I don’t think it makes her a horrible person also because it was all LF’s ploy and she’s being manipulated/convinced into it by a fairly creepy guy who couldn’t care less about her well-being and only wants to marry her because he was in love with her damned mother so she’s also LF’s victim in all of this along with sweetrobin but it’s another level of it and I think that assuming she has no idea whatsoever.

Don’t die Anon! And no need to get randomly so doom and gloom over random strangers over the internet whether you happen to be on the giving or the receiving end.

Just keep enjoying your sport on your terms, other people will enjoy it on theirs. Also figure skating is a bit of a marvelously odd beast blending both athleticism and artistry/performance, ‘acting’ even. It’s perfectly fine to enjoy either or both according to one’s own individual sensibilities and analysis skills. I don’t go into technical because expression and emotion are more my jam and I lack skating experience (temp rinks and rented hockey skates. ‘nough said) to gauge the minute points of a move/jump and I struggle even when I try replaying frame by frame. At least axels are easy to spot at a glance XDD. But generally over a more ‘muscular’ program I’d be more impressed with a technically easier program that has overall better flow and ‘acting’ the program’s story and that moves me ad entertains me. I tend to prefer former competitive skaters programs actually. Then we get stuff like Yuzuru’s Seimei hence the best of both worlds so yay.

On top of that genuine interest and even pro careers can be sparked in different ways and by different means. Anime included. Among today’s YOI fans there are tomorrow’s champions (and past, and present too. Incidentally have you followed some of them top figure skaters’ social media posts about YOI since more than 1 year ago now? )

CASE IN POINT AND QUICK HISTORY LESSON FOLLOWS. There are many roads leading to Rome as we say or more than one-way street journey to reach your destination.

1) OUAT in my country (we’re talking nearly 40 years ago dear readers and I was there walking the Earth ) they used to broadcast a lot of sport anime series. We are a soccer kind of country and basicaly everything else gets very little coverage by comparison, or none at all. I can vouch for at least two generations of soccer players, tennis players, volleyball players gymnasts and golf players getting their spark and/or gained support thanks to those series. Back then those anime were a mass phenomenon and a childhood staple /bonding experience. Everyone watched them and many wished to try the sports of their fav heroes :D. Fun times. Winning times too.

2) Even if I hadn’t watched YOI about 8 times and in three languages already and it hadn’t brought me much joy and lovely acquaintances in a hard phase of my life I’m very grateful to YOI because it led me to find out official reliable channels at last! to keep updated on figure skating and skaters as I had always wished to do (and did to an extent on other platforms since circa 2004. Regular-ish internet access yay) As I mentioned above in point 1) coverage for many sports has always been sporadic where I live and spotty at best outside of soccer, cycling and Formula1 because we are the land of Ferrari cars and Coppi and Bartali/Giro D’Italia among others yadda yadda .

For years I and many others unless we happened to live near an ice rink (hint: rare) or belong in a skating fans’ circle could only glimpse something about figure skating ( I admit I prefer singles’ skating over the couples or synchro also my free time and internet is limited alas) through news articles, the occasional piece about Carolina Kostner exploits (and failures) or whethever we were blessed with some mainstream TV broadcast - often recaps or quick puff pieces - about again Kostner, or Deborah Compagnoni and Alberto Tomba & Co. for skiing, or the temporary bonanza of Turin Winter Olympics 2006 .

Thank heavens for fervent Youtube uploaders of real life figure skating from ancient to basically real time video shares. And Rocker Skating. And dedicated non-anime figure skating tumblr accounts. And the both national and international figura skating fans group on facebook - whose main/core base may overlap with YOI watchers but for the most past it doesn’t. They are by average VERY gracious with all newbie fans whatever their walk of life or fandom btw. Just a tip. Because really those who love and/or practiced the sport all started somewhere. Even you Anon - for constantly keeping people updated about old present and new ice talents worldwide and available streams for us poor fans who cannot subscribe to paid channels or won’t get any news at all on telly until the next Euros/Worlds/Olympics (because we are not in 4cc as a nation hence it’s not relevant #logic) - as long as Cappellini/LaNotte and/or Kostner skate there mind you. Otherwise who knows here TV-wise.

Thanks YOI specifically for being a love letter to the sport and being such an uplifting humanistic watch about growth and understanding and meeting people halfway. With their quirks their flaws their own cultural background and all.
