Having a cycle at the same time as your partner wasn’t recommended. It was very easy for both parties to forget to take care of each other. To eat food, drink water, or even give themselves a simple bath. It was only recommended to share cycles when a couple has been together for years and they know they would be lucid enough to take care of wachs others basic needs.

Alphas sharing a rut wasn’t unheard of but not very common.

The most common type was female and male alphas sharing them. They could get violent but it was possible.

Even though both the male and the female wanted to impregnate the goal was reproduction. So usually the female bottom. Though the violent part usually came in the domination part.

Domination didn’t always equal penetrating someone. Just as Submission didn’t always mean being penetrated.

Male Alphas could bottom. Some male Alphas, especially the ones only attracted to females, said that their body physically wouldn’t let them. That it was unnatural and not in their nature. Jason knows that’s bullshit though. Jaosn for one has experienced that many times and has enjoyed it thourouly.

Though it was a difficult thing to do when in rut. When with an omega or a woman the brain knew there was a uterus to impregnate. So why spend your rut not doing something about it?

Female/Female Alpha ruts seemed to be the most satisfying. The alphas could switch and could satisfied their gut instinct to try to penetrate and impregnate. Not just trying to procreate. But often it could and would become violent.

Male/Male ruts were uncommon. They were deemed to be straight up dangerous. Male/Male alpha couples weren’t the most accepted in society.

The idea that men were inherently more dominant was a bullshit idea that still floated around. So people thought that there was an obvious submitter in a male/female Alpha couple.

Jason knew that idea was bullshit. He’s seen female omegas that dominated everyone— regardless of gender or sub gender— in a 100 mile radius. He’s had sex with a female omega where he was obviously not in charge. That was a lot of fun.

In his relationship now with Roy there wasn’t an obvious submission or domination in their everyday lives. Or even their everyday sex life. Even who bottom or who topped wasn’t entirely about that. Half of the time it came down to who was less sore after a day full of crime fighting.

The dominantion part only really came out during their cycles.

He and Roy have helped each other during their ruts since they’ve gotten together.

Some Alpha/Alpha couples do have trouble helping each other through their cycles. But ultimately it came down to the individuals. Him and Roy never had that problem. In and out of rut. Him and Roy were compatible sex wise. Very compatible.

The biggest problem that has come up during ruts is prep. Especially in Male/Male Alpha couples where no part of their bodies made natural lubricant. When in rut the last thing you wanted to do is spend time not putting a dick in a hole. Much less spend time even stroking your self with even the tiniest amount of lube before hand. They usually added more lube and prep between rounds. In the littlest amount of clarity or sleep they found. Though in the thickness and foggiest of rut it could still be tough.

But they’ve found solutions to that. If one of them was in the late stages of pre rut the other would go in another room and thourouly prep.

The first time they tried that out they were in the same room. Roy’s rut was coming any hour now and Jason was on their bed. Roy suggested that they do this near each other. The bastard was clingy near rut. Sure Jason got some prep done. A lot more than they would have if they just went into rut without doing anything before hand. But Roy ended up tackling him and taking him right there. Kickstarting his rut.

So one of them prepped in a separate room. Preferably one that locked. That way if the rut did start while the other was still prepping they could finish before starting. Neither of them got needy enough that they would break down a locked door.

When the fingering part of the prep was finished they’d shoot up a shit ton of lube up their asses. Keeping it there with a plug that kept them nice and stretched.

It also made it extra hot. At least for Jason. His pre rut mind went crazy knowing that Roy was walking around with a plug. All ready to go for him. Then his rut hitting and seeing him ready to go. Two Ruts didn’t sync up as easily as heats and ruts did. Old people would say it’s because only alphas and omegas should be together. But more recently science has suggested it has to do more with how often each gender and sub gender is fertile.

They didn’t have as complex fertilization cycles as those with uteruses. Who could only get pregnant when an egg passed. Either during their typical monthly cycle or their thrice a year heat.

Males and Alphas were always fertile. They always made sperm and that sperm could always could impregnate. Rut just increased the amount of sperm produced in an orgasm, reduced the redactory period, and make them insanely horney.

So two alpha’s bodies didn’t get that Urgent Alert that their partners body was fertile now and here was their small opertunity to get them pregnant. That their bodies needed to adjust and go into rut right this second.

So in the 3 years and all ruts they shared together Roy’s and Jason’s ruts never occurred at the same time. Until now.

Sure sharing a rut wasn’t unheard of but it was definitely wasn’t common. Especially for two male Alphas.

Sharing and having cycles at the same time as your partner made it more intense. The pheromones and instincts built off of each other.

The biggest thing for them would be prep. Neither of them would be in their right minds to even grab lube between rounds, much less properly prep. Even in the short moments of lucidity their minds would be clouded enough that they wouldn’t want to prep themselves.

They could still do their pre rut prep routine but there was still problems with that. Pre rut he wasn’t particularly in the mood to be penetrated. Plus with both of them in pre rut they might just go into straight up rut while prepping. Saying fuck it and start going at it before they were properly prepared. Even if they were in separate rooms.

They could very much get violent with each other. Jason wasn’t that agressive with making someone else submit but he was aggressive when he was forced to submit. Jason could submit but he had control issues.

Actually Jaosn really didn’t like his cycles because it made him lose control of himself. He didn’t like being put in this mind set.

Jason just groaned in solidarity. Roy bit his fucking everything. He wasn’t going to get off the ground for another week.

“I don’t even remember most of it,” Roy continued, for a guy who said everything hurt apparently his throat didn’t. Jason’s traitorous mind suppled a way he could make Roy’s throat too sore to talk. The rut still lingering in the back of his mind. “I think I tried to tear out your jugular once. Which I think is why my nose hurts bc you slammed my face down after that,”

Jaosn hummed in response. He tried to will the water bottle across the room to him. He didn’t think he would suddenly develop telekinesis but weirder things happen to him. Thank god they stocked up on plastic water bottles instead of being eco friendly or some shit and used reusable metal ones. They would have bashed each other heads in with them.

“Then you smeared the blood of my nosebleed all over my back for some reason. Added some of your cum to it,” Jason closed his eyes and accepted he would die of thirst “and then licked it,”

Jason grimaced thinking of the memory. God there was no way they were going to be able to deep clean this place. They were just going to have to burn it all down.

Jason didn’t know what Roy was talking about. Jason’s future plans were to become one with the floor. Sex was out of his planner for at least two years. That the minimum it was going to take for his body to recover.

Reverse Robins

Dukes We are Robin movement. He still becomes Signal but that movement inspires the Robin mantel.

Damian comes in and becomes Robin. The name is inspired by Duke’s movement. Damian moves on/outgrows Robin. Takes on a night wingish role.

Stephanie takes on the Robin role. I imagine she was already Spoiler but Bruce missed Damian so he took her under his mentorship. Though I don’t imagine he adopted her or anything. But Damian does have feelings he got replaced. Especially after she adopted the mental. She does similarly in cannon. Replaces some of the death in the family story line.

Tim comes crashing in. Says Stephanie is alive and is going to prove it. Id imagine he’s a close friend of Steph’s. Bruce is depressed and blames himself. Although he doesn’t see Steph as his kid he does feel responsible. He’s reluctant to train anyone else. Makes himself robin and finds Steph.

Idk if Step would become a Red Hood type figured but I think it would be interesting. She’d definitely have a different view point on heroing that challenges Bruce.

Jason is adopted in cannon. Dies in cannon. Further blows up the family at gab in cannon bc the batman is way more established. Somehow more angsty than in cannon.

Dick comes in shortly after. His appearance creates an interesting dynamic of bringing the family closer despite the tragedy that just happened.

Yeah but Jason stayed dead for almost two decades (1988-2005). Sure super hero comic book characters die all the time but they don’t stay dead. Especially for as long as Jason. Jason haunted the narrative. It can be argued that Jason still haunts the narrative despite being alive and showing up. His death fundamentally changed the story and character motivations. His death also shaped him as Red Hood. As much as Batman was born in that alley Red Hood was born from that explosion.

For the interpretation of Lou Lou I was more basing my interpretation based on Louella.

Louella has the classic “Seam look”. Something that is completely lost in the movies. Katniss describes herself as having the classic seam look, olive skin, grey eyes, and black hair. While the towns people often have blonde hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. Olive skin—having green or yellow undertones— is often associated with tan or light brown skin. However, olive skin can be any color as it is just a way to describe an undertone of skin and not a skin color. This has sparked debate on Katniss’s race over the years. And her being a decedent of the Covey— a group of people whose race is unclear. They are also not related or distantly related. So it’s hard to tell what Katniss inherited from them feature wise. However the Covey are assimilated by Katniss’ time.

It’s highly theorized that the seam people are mulengeon as the common characteristics of someone from the seam and Melungeons features match up almost exactly. Melungeons characteristics vary from person to person but are often associated with dark hair, tan to dark skin, and light eyes. Melungeon, while a high conservatival term— and one I only use because I am from this group—refers to the specific mixed ancestry of indigenous, african, and european. Specifically in the Southern Appalachian region, where district 12 is. This group of people came together because of a few reasons. But it mainly boils down to indigenous groups and salves working and interacting together.

People also say McCoy is an Irish surname to point to the fact that Louella is white. Many Irish settled in the Appalachia mountains and interacted in other minorities communities due to discrimination. Additionally many people of color have white last names due to colonization and slavery. For example many African slaves often held the last name of who enslaved them. Williams, Johnson, Smith, Jones, and Brown are some of the most common modern African American last names. These names are European in origin and not African. Demonstrating how surnames of people of color are taken away because of colonization. Malcom X rejected his last name because of this. He went by the last name as X because of this. The X represents the unknown African last name. He said his last name was not his but one of his ancestors’ masters.

So to answer the question: No I did not assume Lou Lou was black just because she was from district 11. It was more based on Louella being from the seam. Though Lou Lou being from district 11 does help the in text evidence that people from the seam have darker skin tones.

I and many other fans of the hunger games interpret district 11 as being majority black because of how Rue describes the conditions in the books. District 11 is highly inspired by slave plantations as implied by the text. They are routinely whipped and punished exclusively by the peacekeepers. I could keep going but I do not have a copy of the book with me. Peacekeepers play the role of police like force in thg. Police were first created in the United States of America to capture and punish slaves and indigenous people. Most of the districts 11 characters seen in thg text have been stated to be dark skinned.

Now there is a criticism to be said about Collins making the agriculture district similar to a slave plantation. Or even why she decided to do it that way. Though the overall consensus I have seen from black hunger games fans about her treatment of black characters have been positive. Unfortunately I do not feel equipped to tackle that as I am only getting a degree in Native American studies in my university.

Sure Suzanne Collins says that they can be any race but the diffraction of different characteristics plays a big role along social class. The characteristics she describes aligns with mulengeons and make sense due to the history of the region. Though it is perfectly fine to say that is a headcannon. However, it does not make sense for the hunger games to take place in a world that is considered “post race” while race still plays a big role.

So yes both Lou Lou and Louella can both be white but in text and historical context it makes more sense for them to be women of color. But what makes it so bad that vaguely poc coded characters are casted as white?

Louella is supposed to look like Katniss and to be Haymitch’s sweetheart but her treatment explores some deeper themes in the hunger games books. If these characters are made white to look like Jennifer Lawerence then you lose potential commentary and themes.

The United States has a long history of kidnapping black and brown children. Unfortunately since I’m studying Native American studies I cannot comment much about African Americans disappearances but it’s a BIG problem for Native Americans. I would look up The Missing and Murder Indigenous Women (MMIW). But what is true for all non white people is that they get MUCH less media coverage and public panic compare to when white people get kidnapped. Despite people of color going missing at much higher rates. So a white family being taken and replaced by the government versus a non white family is very different.

Then there’s the common thing of people of color being mistaken as the same person. As white people thinking they all look alike. You loose a lot of that commentary when white actors are portraying characters verses when non white actresses are.

So yes Suzanne Collins can approve to cast whoever she wants. However, thinking that their race doesn’t change the commentary in her books is just plain wrong. I’m not saying Suzanne Collins is a bad person or anything for approving white actors. However, it does put white people as the face of these struggles and revolutions when historically they have not.
