On Enemies to Lovers...
This might just be a me thing, but does anyone else have really specific enemies to lovers qualifications for whether or not they like the trope? Like I can definitely do the forbidden love kind of enemies to lovers, but I can't really read/watch anything where the characters genuinely hated each other before their romance. At least not if the writer doesn't make it clear that the relationship is supposed to be heavily toxic. Not even if it's misconception. On the other hand, the kind of enemies to lovers that I eat up every time is where the two characters are rivals. They haven't done anything extremely awful to each other, but "hate" each other nevertheless. They're always pulling on the other's pigtails, so to speak. I feel like this last one is most people's ideas of enemies to lovers, but I could be wrong.

ATLA Fic Recs?
Does anyone have any ATLA fic recs of fanfictions that were made within the last two years? I don't mind if there are pairings (as long as they're not problematic), but I really do enjoy gen fics the most.

ATLA Prompts #3
Call it a war flashback, call it a lapse of control, self defense, whatever you want, but Iroh has just done something that he never ever thought he would be capable of: he burnt Zuko. Now they both have to navigate the aftermath.
Bonus points for the angst if Zuko thinks he deserved it.

It is a harsh reality but we are going to wake up tomorrow and there are going to be hundreds of thousands of casualties and an entire country is going to be destroyed and everyone who stayed silent or supported Israel during this genocide is going to have to live with that for the rest of their lives.

Does anything else think it's crazy how fast Ozai decided Zuko was worthless?
Like we know that compared to Azula, who very clearly was a fire-bending prodigy at a very young age, Zuko doesn't seem that impressive, but he's also like 10 by the time that Ozai starts showing visible distaste and disinterest in everything he does. (aka the frown when Zuko tries to showcase his bending in front of Firelord Azulon, and the ease at which he seems to accept that his son could be killed for his impudence). It seems stupid to me to dismiss any potential that he may have because he isn't currently excelling at everything like his sister.
Assuming that we're judging his pure fire-bending skills here, bending is strongly connected to martial arts which is strongly connected to athletics. As a ten year old, there is still so much your body isn't ready for - can't build muscle for - in comparison to an adult or even teenage body. It is impossible to tell the level at which you will perform when you're that age, because so much will change. Yes, years of practice and sports/battle IQ help immensely with staying at the top of your peers once you reach adulthood, but skill is the furthest thing from concrete.
(We also don't have an exact timeframe of when exactly Ozai stopped trying with him, so there is a large possibility that 10 isn't even the earliest that Ozai decided he was worthless, which makes his judgment make even less sense.)
But even if we are not looking at this from a purely bending based angle - "he's not as smart, not as cunning, etc" - and we don't assume he'll improve exponentially over time, there's still so many skills/traits Zuko has that could be useful to Ozai. He's loyal and eager to please, he picks up new skills rather quickly and is quite efficient at them (navigation, tracking, etc), he's a good swordsman, he has a quick reaction time, and more.
Like, thinking from a villain's perspective or the idea that Ozai just fundamentally hates Zuko, I feel like it was such a poor decision to send the kid on a wild goose chase that he had no faith would actually lead to anything. Zuko had the skills to be very useful towards the war efforts, and he had the potential to be a nightmare. (Think about how terrifying it would be if Zuko used the Blue Spirit persona to get intel from the Earth Kingdom or Water Tribes. At the very least, Ozai could have gotten him involved with the actual war efforts. Like even stationing him to guard some far off prison would make more strategic sense. And if he never wanted Zuko to return to Caldera, Ozai could have just staged an "accident" from afar.
(Also, I want to point out that I didn't mention the effect that the emotional abuse Zuko endured would of had on him an his development, not because I don't think it had an effect, but because I don't think that's something Ozai would factor in to his judgment.)
tl&dr: Judging someone based off of how good they were at something when they were a little kid and deciding their worth off of that judgement is illogical, especially considered how important the teenage years are to developing skillsets.

The way middle school me spent hours searching for rumors of continuations or dropped plot lines online. Then I discovered fanfiction.net. The trajectory of my life changed once I picked up this show.
I literally grew up with RoB/DoB like without it I don’t think I would have been as obsessed with httyd as I am now - I remember switching channels each night to watch whatever episode of riders/defenders that was on that night, and even going back to rewatch it with its choppy animation I still feel this intense love for it, like I’m coming back home
Animal House…. In Dragons We Trust…. Portrait of Hiccup as a BuFF MAN RAHHHH
THIS EXACTLY. I was like, 4 when it was coming out in 2012. I watched it after school EVERYDAY for like 3 hours!!!! Not only would I not be obsessed with httyd, idk who the fuck i would be
#Httyd#Dob#Rob#Rtte#httyd dob#defenders of berk#The way I wouldn't know what fanfiction and quotev were without this show...

MDZS thoughts 1
The images spread around painting WWX as a horrifically ugly man weren’t actually used as a way for the cultivation world to spread fear about the YP, but rather based off of family portrait drawings that A-Yuan scribbled on spare talisman paper (unfortunately he wasn’t very good) labeled Xian-gege. (Yes, WWX did hang it up on the wall).
During the raid of the demon slaughtering cave, it became pretty clear that the drawings were useless as far as weapons go so an errant threw it away and the paper made its way to a small town pretty far from cultivation news. The person that picked it up thought it must be a self portrait and the rest is history.

hanahaki fic where...
Character A has been on the other side of hanahaki before. Someone has liked them enough to get the infamous disease. Which was slightly flattering and sweet, except for the fact that character A did not return the feelings. Eventually, their admirer underwent the surgery, and forgot all feelings of romance they once had for them.
However, the people around them did not.
Years down the line, character A has fallen in love for character B and cursed with the sickness. Unwilling to force the other into a relationship with someone they have no feelings for, character A’s sickness grows worse. Character B is the only one that doesn’t act like charact A’s hanahaki is some sick act of karma.
When Character A tells Character B why they won’t confess, character B suggests trying to woo them instead. Which would be a helpful suggestion, if not for the fact that Character B was so intent on helping.

Hanahaki Fic Where...
Most people who have hanahaki can be cured on their own. It only takes a couple weeks of flowers growing out of their lungs and the possibility of death for patients to realize that a mere infatuation isn’t enough to lose their lives over. They get treatment at a hospital to monitor any possible complications, but most of the time they won’t even need the surgery.
Character A is a doctor at the hospital and character B is the patient - who has been in treatment for weeks without signs of improvement. More curiously, the type of flowers and the pattern at which they grow has unpredictably changed. As character A studies this phenomenon, they realize that that have begun to hopelessly, irrevocably, fall in love with their patient. Too bad that their patient already loves somebody else.
On the other hand, character B is lamenting the cost of their medical bills as they discover that rather than recovering, they have fallen in love with their doctor instead.
Bonus points if the doctor gets hanahaki as well.

This is honestly my favorite type of dynamic in any fandom I’m part of. Hands down.
I love fics where lwj is playing 4d chess in his own mind with what he can have/get away with and then we flash to wwx who is not, as we thought, playing checkers, but playing a DIFFERENT game - a sillier game even - of connect 4 where he is blindfolded, playing against himself and sometimes the board changes for what he assumes is no reason
