the fact that we need 8 hours of sleep is ridiculous we should only need 4 and the other 4 should be used to be cozy in your bed and rub your legs together like a cricket and listen to music and think about your little scenarios
i'm trying to use 1N57A less, but it is hard! save me, tumblr!
anyways, happy new year, everyone! it's gonna be wild, hold onto your wits, strength, love, and pants! we will see each other through and out, as best as we can~~
with family in northern Michigan, visiting orchards and wineries and enjoying the spectacular show nature is putting on there. The colors of the trees are mesmerizing, I have never seen anything like it in person, and we had cloudy skies. But it is also nice to be back home. We are expecting our first signs of frost tonight, so I hope that more bird activity is upon us. Have a beautiful Sunday evening!
recently, I moved into a new apartment, and the person who lived/s there warned me about how slugs sometimes get into the house. I've never run into this before, and tbh was quite skeptical, but it was proven true yesterday. we just gently put them back outside lol
wrens are probably my favorite bird (but it's hard to pick a favorite)
A Hightailed Feathursday
We love the little tail-flags of high-spirited wrens. Here’s a little guy we never see in our region, the Canyon Wren (Catherpes mexicanus), which is a western and southwestern bird, down through Mexico. Canyon Wrens prefer steep rocky environments, arid landscapes, and deep canyons; not much of that around here in southeastern Wisconsin.
This chromolithograph is from a painting by American ornithologist Robert Ridgway, the first curator of birds at the Smithsonian Institution, from our 2-volume set of Our Native Birds of Song and Beauty, by the late-19th-century director of the Milwaukee Public Museum Henry Nehrling, and published in Milwaukee by George Brumder from 1893-1896.
