Chapter 8, finally here

Had to redo some parts and shuffle around things but here it is. We finally hit 50k words and then some.

Excerpt:

He didn't have an actual visual on the red helmeted man but he did have the transmissions from the trackers Bruce, Tim and Cass placed on Jason before he left. Everyone except Duke, Damian and Steph were out trailing Jason this night.

“Oracle, is he still in your view?” Dick asked her through the comms.

“Yes, I see him but Dick, maybe these kids aren't as bad as they seem. I think if they wanted to cause real harm, they would've done it by now,” Oracle replied through the comms.

“Noted,” Nightwing answered, his tone clipped at the edges. Oracle just sighed.

Summary:

Forming a surprisingly good relationship with a lil bird with compulsory weekly meetings wasn't too much on a halfa’s plate, Danny meets a strange ghost dog through Cujo and ends up becoming the ghost whisperer or some shit like that.

No reference for this one. I attempted drawing hands.

I tried using my dog for the pose but that girl refused to sit down for a camera pic. All she knows is rat murder and food. Nothing else in her brain 😭. Still love her though.

Once Danny was done, he released Ellie's hand for her to inspect his work and the girl did so with serious scrutiny. After a couple of seconds, she wore a big smile on her face indicating her satisfaction thereby causing Danny to blush shyly at the unspoken praise. Rita shook her head but a small laugh was trying to find its way out of her mouth.

“Ain't you gonna let it dry?” Rita asked once Ellie got up from her seat. The little girl just smirked, outstretched her hands and Rita watched them glow green for a few seconds before the light died out.

Their friends but what could Bruce do to help? He wasn't Batman - he wasn't a hero - he wasn't a - he needed his mom and dad.

Excerpt:

Damian stared at the message sent to him on one of the small disposable communicators his mother had prepared for him in case of emergencies or if there were any serious matters that she had to tell him about and couldn't do so in person. The message was, of course, in code but once he deciphered it with the cipher for this particular code, he got the disturbing message, loud and clear.

League in Gotham. Unknown death entities are targets. Warn the bat.

A notification popped up on the screen of the laptop in front of Bruce and much to his delight, it was from Zatanna. The delight quickly vanished once he opened it and read that she was going to cancel the consult she agreed with Bruce on for their mischievous duo kids case (apparently, she had to follow a lead on Faust who had stolen some old spellbook). Once the delight was completely out of view, irritation quickly took its place as Bruce got to the part where she mentions referring the case to Constantine and that the man was more than available to help at the moment. Bruce slapped a hand to his face. Did he really have to call him? The man annoys him just as much as Bruce seems to annoy the conman too.

Damian wants to know about the dogs feeding habits. Danny says let the furry creature loose. Damian says he should watch his mouth. Cujo just wants the treats.

(God, I love YouTube and tiktok sometimes. Just applied what I learnt on ibis paint, now I can't seem to go back. I wanna try more art like this again some time later)

Excerpt:

Still, the smile on her face didn't fade even after he left. She turned too and disappeared into the shadows. There were still a few other things she wanted to do. She hoped the little kid knew what he was doing. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to intervene too much with his meeting with the king and his quarry. Still, she herself should get ready to meet the ghostly pair. It wouldn't be nice if they didn't get to meet the city spirit, it would be seen as rude and she didn't want to be seen as anything such as that.
