What is Perfection? [3/16/24]
What is perfection?
Certainly not my reflection.
My, shoulders, full of tension,
and a failed introspection
My judgment is clouded
My thoughts are, too
The only thing keeping me grounded,
is, well, you
Maybe you are the definition
You could tear out of me, every admission
God, you could be some divine vision,
Cos’ I’d let you make every decision
Perfection is holding
each other together
til one of us is scolding,
for getting them ‘under the weather’
Perfection is the marks I leave on your neck,
while kissing every dark, freckled little speck
Later, covering it up, groaning, “dude, what the heck?”
But you know I adore leaving you a wreck
What is Perfection?
An attainable zeal?
But I’ve got you and your attention
so perfection must be real.

Understandable Identity [11/9/23]
my hair is in two tight braids
at the bottom, they merge into one
I didn't do them by myself
And I adore the feeling of getting them done
By someone else
My dog has a hot pink collar
It complements the colors mixed in her hur
she paddles up next to me
she tilts her head, asking,
"I love you; what are you doing?"
What am I doing?
I'm keeping myself grounded
everything should feel very real
not philosophical
and nothing like last night
I had three presentations this week
I abhor the whole ordeal
but it feels really good
to look really real
to look like I know what I'm doing
My ducks are in a row
but sometimes that row is a circle
I get things done
I always get them done
just with an added layer of stress
I sit, I read, I go, I return
it's simple and normal and beyond
but is there more, like everyone says?
or is it just a
Dream?

A First Meditational Poem [10/30/23]
In death, there is life, and in
beginnings, there are ends. Why do
we see life as a segment of a line
when it is simply a misshapen but
perfect cycle of the seasons?
The warmth of a human body
only matters
when the reality of its absence
is known
The kindness of a heart
is only appreciated
when the world
contains gaps
Pandora knows this,
and so do you.
Hope cannot survive
in a destructive world.
It must be locked away.
Yet it MUST be shared.
Or else-
It is fragile
unprepared.
unloved.
What happens the day that Hope
loses its hope?
What happens when she flies away and forgets
that she is the reason to LIVE
to STRIVE
and to BE?
could you survive?
put in that situation?
I cannot say that you would.
But after all,
life is a cycle,
and surprises are welcome.

Fungi Funeral [1/4/24]
Who decomposes
a fungus, when she dies?
Does her next of kin, break her down,
thinking "Oh, oh, dear mother of mine"?
Does a mushroom return
to the earth that she's built?
The earth that she's turned
into dirt made from silt?
Does a mushroom grieve
for her family, forgotten?
And is she alone
until she herself is rotten?
Do fungi feel
as alone as we do?
Does a mushroom want
a love just as true?
I've read that fungi
make paths in a way
similar to those
that a computer may.
Are we the same?
Both inside and out?
After all, after death,
we become a brand new sprout

to my one and only [2/1/24]
i love the way your hair falls
right in front of your eyes
and i love the way you push it back
getting rid of your disguise
i love the way you say some words
slightly different from the norm
an extra "u" or an extra "i"
as you give your voice its own little form
I love the way you hold me close,
in your arms, so tight
you listen, and you hold so sweet
god, it feels so right
and i love the way your eyes are so wide
like you're taking in the whole world
and you love everything you see
i love the way your eyes are so bright
like you're looking at the whole world
but all you see is me

Small Revolutions [2/8/24]
a million small revolts
can add up to a revolution
if now it seems pointless,
like what you're doing isn't enough
you're not alone
there is a story
it's always stuck with me
it's about a man who tosses
starfish
back into the sea
someone tells him
that he can't possibly
save all those starfish,
but he saved so many,
did he not?
just because your small revolt
doesn't make a dent,
in the giant hurt of the world,
some individual, someplace,
was saved
and what happens,
if many more people were on that beach
how many starfish could be saved,
if enough people
did something deemed insignificant

Ever Before [1/21/24]
I think I'm more in love with you than ever before,
And I hope beyond hope that I'll love you evermore
your presence in my life is like a spark to a star,
and I still feel your love, even when you're far
I think I'm more in love with you than ever before,
and I hope beyond hope that I'll love you evermore.

Running Out of Time [1/20/24]
I have this overbearing feeling of doom
buried deep within my lungs
It keeps me in a state of gloom
every day, since I was young
the problem is, if I must say,
though I cry, and try, I die,
every, single, little day,
I feel I'm running out of time

Leaky Water Bottle [1/17/24]
Morning has come
and the water has gone
Dropped and abandoned
but he's lasted this long
Tomorrow is over
Today is his last
All of my memories
left with him in the past

emotional permanence [1/2/24]
will you be there for me?
even when I don't recognize myself?
even when I don't know that it's me
looking back from the surface of the mirror?
will you be there for me?
when my body doesn't feel like mine.
because I'm floating above,
and there are too many hands touching?
will you be there for me?
when I'm so weak
and so hurt
and so gone?
will you still be there for me?
when I'm not
here
anymore?

Hold Me Closer [1/17/24]
hold me closer
hold me tight
you're the only one I trust
to protect me all night
hold me closer
within your arms
you're the only one I trust
to keep me safe from any harm
hold me closer
don't let go
you're the only one I trust
to not leave me all alone

Poem for a Story Pt. 2 [10/24/23]
Oh, to be a victim of the love
that some would call profane
How could something so gentle
and pure face accusations
of lust and evil when all
we did was smile?
a hand in a hand shouldn't
be afraid of a gun to
a head.

Give and Take [10/23/23]
When it stopped.
I stopped talking.
But it all stopped.
So I stopped giving.
I can't give anymore.
Yet I take nothing.
But the act of not giving,
is taking, is it not?
I've given my whole.
And it's taken me in time.
I have nothing left to give.
And I can't take it anymore.
I'm going to lose it,
by the end of the day
Give or Take,
a few hours.

Estoy Vacía [10/29/23]
you do not seem happy.
well, that's because i'm not.
you no longer seek adventure.
there's nothing to be sought.
you seem so trapped.
well, that much is true.
your actions are so passive.
because i'm just passing through.
you don't like where you are.
i wish to start over, another.
you can't unbreak what you shattered,
to recollect a lover.

Newton's Cradle [11/29/23]
Pull Back.
Limitless potential
at least, that's how it feels.
you've got your whole life
ahead of you, darling.
Take a breath
(a deep one)
Release.
You're in motion now
reach that potential
you've got so much time
Don't even worry
you'll figure it all out
in no time
Collide.
A barrier?
or an opportunity?
Still swinging,
but slowing down
don't worry,
you still have so much time
Stop.
no more motion
you've run out of energy
no more potential
all run out
But don't worry
you've got so much ti-
